Role: White mage "You don't believe me?"

Partner: Sirsi

Ability/Magic Specialty: He was a White mage, he's good at Creation magic, Reconstruction magic and Psycho Kinesis (PK)

Creation magic was....well...uh...create things from nothing (?)...(don't scold me. I don't understand too)
Reconstruction Magic was an ability to recreate things to a different shape or fixed it to its previous state.
Psycho Kinesis (PK) was a 'mental remote controller'. In other word he can move physical object without touching it.

Personality: Loud mouthed, cocky as hell, like to name calling other people, it was hard to maintain a normal conversation with him without him insulting other people. But once you break his though shell you would find a pretty nice guy.

Bio: Ren used to lived with his mother and abusing father in almost average house. He was eight years old when his mother teach him about magic. His mother had trained him almost everyday until one day his father found out. His drunk father killed his mother in the dispute and after that Ren 'accidentally' killed his father. Because of his past he decided that magic was supposed to be kept secret forever to avoid another tragedy (?).

In one of his journey in search of Spell-Link and made sure magic secret didn't leak out, he met Sirsi and made a contract with her. Since then, he stayed in that town and just lazying around because the town was so peaceful (or maybe not).

Theme Song: ROOKIEZ is PUNK'D - Complication

History

A little side story about Ren's past

He was eight years old when his mother taught him magic.

His mother took him down to the dirt road near their home to the forest. For almost hours they walked, avoiding several broken branch and fallen trees. His little feet had started to numb but he kept walking, following his mother back. Past grooves of trees and fallen leaves, he had found himself in grassland, wide grassland which spread as long as the eyes could see. He looked toward his mother direction when she stopped in the middle of the field. She didn’t facing him, but her voice was loud and clear.

“Every first children of my lineage should learn how to do magic.” He blinked in disbelief, his mother just sighed and facing him. Together they sat on the grassland.

“This is the basis of magic.” She took his right hand softly and drew complicated symbol with her finger on his palm. “Creation.” And then took his left hand to draw another different symbol. “And Destruction.

He had stare at his open palms. Slowly symbols began to appear on his palms, shaped exactly like the symbols his mother drew before. This made his eyes widened but he didn’t ask any question. The symbols shortly disappeared after that.

“Both are the foundation of magic. Always remember that.”

He nodded and stared at his hands. His mother continue talked about magic, the history of it, the war between the White mages and Black mages, the very nature of magic, the Spell-link, and so on until she was certain he remembered everything.

“Now I’ll teach you how to use it.” She scanned her surrounding. “See that small iron nails over there?” She pointed toward a series of small nails which embedded on several trees a little far from them. He nodded. He suspected his mother put that nails on each tree herself.

She stretched her right hand toward one of the nail direction, palm opened up.
“僧形の塔、灼鉄熒熒、湛然として終に音無し, 鉄砂の壁”
(Sōgyō no tō, shakutetsu keikei, tanzen toshite tsuini oto nashi, Tessu no kabe.)

An iron wall was erected at the place where the nail used to be. He almost jumped out in surprise but instead he just sucked out a deep breath.

“Now, try it. You can use English if you’re more comfortable with it” He wanted to ask how but held it. After all, he felt it, the strange pulse which emitted from his mother hand when she used the magic. He knew how to use it.

He took a breath then began chanting. “A priestly pagoda, glowing ironclad fireflies. Standing upright, silent to the end, Walls of iron sand.” A sudden burst of energy entering his body and gathered straight to his left hand. The pains bloomed from his shoulder and he screamed. He clutched his left shoulder. It felt as if his hand was torn apart. It hurt like hell. His mother took a look at his shoulder and just shook her head. “Your shoulder isn’t dislocated, just a bruise. It will be fine.”

He blinked and tried to hold back his tear. She began explaining again, about how the nail turn into wall, about reconstruction magic, about changing matter, and several important things mainly about the draw back of magic.

She tapped his bruised shoulder lightly. “I want you to always remember the pain. Even if someday you master the magic, always remember this pain on your shoulder.”

So begins...

Renjou Shirogane

Renjou Shirogane, sole heir of the nearly extinct Shirogane-clan, the white mage who defend Magic Secrecy, the man who supposed to do good deeds, was lazing around on top of a tree branch while playing with pebbles, yeah, rocks. The rocks were currently spinning around mid air on his hand while the owner of the hand was almost falling asleep with boredom. He yawned and looked toward the school. From his position, he could observe anyone who used the main entrance plus the place was cool and often overlooked. In other word the tree was his favorite place.

Ren looked again toward his spinning pebbles and then to the oblivion kid who currently walking under the tree where he perched. A smirk bloomed on his face. He began whispering an incantation under his breath.

“二十二の橋梁 六十六の冠帯 足跡・遠雷・尖峰・回地・夜伏・雲海・蒼い隊列 太円に満ちて天を挺れはし, 黒白の羅”
(Nijūni no kyōryō, rokujūroku no kantai. Ashiato, enrai, senpō, kaichi, yafuku, unkai, aoi tairetsu. Taien ni michite ten o hashire, Kokubyaku no ami)

Only resulted with a burst of pain on his left shoulder. “Shit!” He reflexively grabbed his left shoulder but the sudden movement made him fall from the tree straight to the bush under it, head first. Ren had yelling profanities after his fall. His smirk turned to a pout.

He massaged his shoulder. The pain had lessened and now only a faint throbbing remained. “Yeah, yeah, no no-good plot toward good bloke, I know already.” He said as if he was talking to his left shoulder while removing leaves from his red hair. He looked toward the sky.

‘If the universe should end, I'll make sure mine would be the first. This wretched, false, and boring world.’

He shook his head. “What the hell am I thinking? Bet Sirsi would scold me again.” For lazing around that’s it.

But he was so bored. He just hoped some fun would happen in this too damn peaceful town like…for example a meteor shower or terrorist attack or heck even some alien discovery would be fine.

And something crashed toward the school which made a pretty big mess.

“HOLLY SHI…!?! Uh cow.” Well, like old folk said, be careful with what you wish for.

Okay, next time he would wished more frequently. With that in mind, he ran toward the school direction.

Renjou just stood there with a dumbstruck face glued to his face. He had witnessed some dunce head guy making a fool out of himself before but this was outrageous, unbelievable, out of question! Mages and their Spell-links had just using their magic in a public place. For God sake, public place where normal people and civilian walking around! Then as if suddenly snapped, he ran toward them while took off one of his hair pin. Reconstruction magic.

“Brethren-in-arms withdrawing for the distance of 8 sun and standing still; blue bolt, white bolt, black bolt, red bolt; sinking into the ocean together seeking redemption-”

He bit his hair pin and snapping it in two, legs still ran toward the mages direction while still spelling incantation.

“Twenty eight mansion, four symbols; dragon tail, tiger fang, turtle shell, phoenix wings-”

He stopped. One of the broken hair pin was dropped to the ground while the other part was thrown to the sky.

“Shiji no Kekkai.” (The barrier of four beasts)

Both part of the broken pin disintegrated. Its particle spread wide and made a giant transparent dome. At least inside barrier the Mages and Spell-links would not hurt any normal people. Ren looked around, damn there’s still left some people with little magic potential. They were still remained inside even though their magic was so tiny to the point almost non-existent. If only he had a Spell-link, but he was too cowardice to ask Sirsi. He was afraid she would get hurt.

“Oh well.”

He scratched his head and approached the Mages. He hoped he could stop their non sense fight with ‘talk’ even though he didn’t have Spell-link and dare he say ‘absolutely weak’.

Suzuki, unsure of what to do, continued to watch the fighting until a guy with red hair ran over to the fight and pulled out of his hair what looked like a hair pin. She saw him begin to chant and then a strange, transparent dome surrounded the area where she had been. She found herself somehow on the outside of the barrier, no thanks to what Vlad had done to move her away from the center of the fighting. Curious as to why Renjou had done this or what he had done she walked over to him hesitantly and said, "Hey, um, I hate to ask, but can you explain what's going on? A lot of civilians have been hurt over at the school I know. I was headed over to the hospital with someone from the school until we got ambushed. I don't know why, but that guy Satosha says this seems to be a fight between magicians. He also says I'm a magician too."

She waited for Renjou's answer hoping that he would give her a proper answer since he was not occupied with fighting. He looked kind of like a student from her school, so she assumed from the fact that he was around her age and no older looking than this. If he didn't have the answers she would have no idea what to do since she obviously couldn't throw herself into the fighting, and hadn't wanted to in the first place. She was glad Vlad, Klaus and the others that were trying to hurt Satosha hadn't killed either of them quite yet, but she wasn't sure how long he could hold out if magic allowed someone to chop through parts of buildings with relative ease. She went to Renjou for the simple fact that if he was a mage she'd be in better hands with him in terms of receiving protection and learning a concept she knew little about within a few minutes.

Nicholas felt Renjou's transparent barrier come up around them and thought, "On second thought, I'm not going to chase the people that I was going to. I can't chase them now with this barrier up." Nicholas looked across the battlefield trying to figure out who erected it and saw Renjou on the outside of it. He could clearly feel from where he was standing that Renjou was weak, but extremely smart. Generally, Nicholas liked to work in the shadows, but because of how Vlad and Klaus seemed to approach their work it that this would be impossible now.

"Hey kid!" he cried out in Renjou's direction, "Thanks for keeping us contained I don't know what those two youngsters would do if they got bored with our current target. Oh wait, maybe they have..." Nicholas looked back to where the fighting had taken place and saw that Satosha seemed to be still standing where he was, but that Vlad and Klaus had left.

He blinked in surprised and then scratched his head.

“Uh, you’re a Mage?”

He eyed her from head to toe. Well, she seemed to have high magic so maybe she was Mage. He sighed.

“I explain latter for now…” He moved his gaze toward the barrier.

“Hey kid!” One of the Spell-link called him. “Thanks for keeping us contained I don’t know what those two youngsters would do if they got bored with our current target. Oh wait, maybe they have...”

A frown grazed Ren's expression for a moment before it back to its playful manner.

“You’re welcome, Ossan! But don’t worries the barrier will break after the bystander’s memory get altered which will happen in…” A loud shattered noise and the transparent barrier disappear. “A second.” He finished lamely. Damn, he was much weaker than he thought.

Still eyeing the Spell-linker he talked to the girl beside him.

“Well, I dunno what’s going on either. The reason why you got ambush… maybe because you’re a potential-Mage and her potential-Spell-link. You know-” He angled his head to general direction. “Mages have this ‘better-than-thou’ tendency and usually this cause a fight between them.” A fool one at that he mussed. “And for the last question, no, you’re not a Mage unless you perform least one spell. So, worry not, you still can get your normal live back.” Or not, he inspected the mess around them.

“Uh oh, it looks like your potential-Spell-link passed out. Wanna help him?” He mentioned toward the guy who just passed out. Without waiting for her reply he took off another hair pin and threw it to the passed out guy direction. Reconstruction magic

“Under the name of shirogane sōzokujin. I command the mask of all creation, the holder of truth and temperance, the reverser underworlds, bid under my demand, eight immortal, seven prosperity, fifty six rules.”

The hair pin was glowing and the light enveloped the passed out guy. Then its light was waning slowly and the hair pin disappeared. That should help him in a minimum degree. But, hey, it was better than nothing.

“Come on.” He told the girl and approach the passed out guy

"I suppose I should help him out," Suzuki stated as she walked slowly over to where Renjou limping all the way due to her injured rib cage. She took in everything he said as she watched him put up a barrier around Satosha. When that was done she knelt beside Satosha and turned her head towards Nicholas. He stood silently now in a spot where active magic was nowhere in sight.

"Is it safe to have that guy near us?" she whispered to Renjou taking in the glare from Nicholas's fierce eyes. Her injury began to bleed again and she knew if Nicholas did attack them she would not be able to move away from him.

Nicholas voiced, "I don't know what you're talking of because I can't hear you from here, but do know that I can easily take you down. The only thing that's stopping me is that I've been given no orders yet. You better hope my master doesn't give me any or you'll die where you stand. I don't want to sound too threatening, but when you have a boss that can do what Halbert Zador can it's not wise to disobey him. I don't think Master Zador has any plans to kill you yet, but I'll be standing here on stand by just in case."

Suzuki ignored Nicholas's warning not caring anything for it at the moment. If he attacked she was sure this new person who'd stepped in for her and Satosha could stop him. On a second glance of the red haired boy she could tell that he was certainly around her age and therefore not probably lying about being from her school. She decided to ask two questions to him and said, "If Satosha is like this how is that other person you were trying to help? If Satosha is like this is that other person you helped much worse, what about the school is it okay?"

The girl and the Spell-link were talking to him. He frowned in annoyance but quickly shook his head and instead put a grin on his face.

“Well, Ossan!” He shouted at the Spell-link. “Never knew you’re a chatter box. But I don’t give a shit whether you want to stand there all day or not. And you.” He pointed at the girl. “Stop with all of the Q&A session. Didn’t you realize among all of the Spell-links and Mages around he’s the most critical one? He has internal bleeding because of his broken rib. A little late and this Satosha guy can say goodbye to the living world.”

He took out his cell-phone and dialing the ambulance. “Beside, my magic has limit. I can’t heal everyone in sight.” He mumbled quietly.

Indeed, the amount of magic he could perform was limited because of his half–contract state with Sirsi. If only he was a little braver and asked Sirsi to be his full fledge Spell-link. He shook his head, no time for grieving that now. To cope up with it he always carried a high compressed magic in the form of his hair pins but he never wore more than four of it. Carried it too much would damage the flow of magic inside human body.

The phone was connected and he talked to them, explaining the condition plus the state of the school, yelled at them for hurrying up and brought the damn ambulances. Several time expletive words came out from his mouth before he closed the phone. He sighed and observed the wrecked state. Fool Mages and their stupid battle, and he thought the evolution supposed to clean any stupid genes. Guess they missed out a few.

"Do you mean he's the most critical one to me?" Suzuki shot back at Renjou. She did not like how he had stood her to stop with all the Q&A she and Satosha could have died, Satosha could still die and it would be her fault because she still felt she didn't have a clue what was going on. "I'll stay quiet about this since you're the magic expert but I don't like what you've just said to me." Suzuki added letting him see her nose twitch and eyes squint. She wanted him to see her anger. She put on a frown for added effect in that regard.

Then she looked down at Satosha and said, "It'll be okay, hopefully I have healing magic... You'll be healed right here and now before the hospital's ambulance's arrive and then you can tell me how to get out of this mess permanently. I don't care now about who killed my father if it's going to lead me into situations where I would possibly die." she directed this at Satosha but she was close enough to Renjou that he could still hear him.

NIcholas just stoopd there and watched. Renjou and the girl could definitely not kill him with their current abilities, at least he felt so, and they were not a threat to him or his master it seemed. Nicholas turned and looked around for his master Halbert. "Sir, I wonder if we should leave here or wait and see what this girl does." he thought to himself. The police would be coming soon with medical personal, so he needed to leave soon. A guy with swords in the middle of an alley was definitely not a good looking prospect. He could, for the heck of it, wreck the coming ambulances once they arrived and then cause Satosha to die from a lack of medical care, but that would be dishonorable and would not work in Halbert's favor. Even if managed to erase all the memories of every normal person present at this scene the hospital that sent the ambulances would wonder what happened to them and there was the fact that the girl and this white magician would defend themselves, if they could.

(Hey, when did Sirsi arrive on the scene? I don't remember here being here at the scene.)

“I’ll stay quiet about this since you're the magic expert but I don't like what you’ve just said to me.”

Ren’s grin got wider along with her frown. It was good she wasn’t a cry-baby-and-pathetic girl. She was angry. He could tell by the obvious spark of her magic and the more obvious expression she put.

“Heh. You’re interesting.” He chuckled lowly. She talked more but his attention was elsewhere.

The faint sounds of the ambulances were heard. They were still pretty far from the school but he could hear them alright. He wondered why they let a bunch of sluggo worked in the hospital. Even though normal human couldn’t hear the sound for such a distance his Psycho Kinesis power managed to enhance his senses a little. And with that he also heard the all too familiar foot steps which only belonged to the person he least expected to meet right now. Shit! Kami-sama do you hate me that much? He wailed inside his head before the foot step sound stopped right behind him.

“I assume this ‘absurd situation’ isn’t your doing, Shirogane Renjou?”

He turned really slowly and met face to face with a man around his mid sixty, looking at him in disdain under his spectacle. Renjou scratched his head and grinned stupidly. His constant way of tapping foot made Ren’s discomfort more noticeable.

“Uh…heh hehe. Fancy meeting you here, Sensei. But I swear this time I’m completely innocent.”

The man Ren addressed as ‘Sensei’ clicked his tongue and talked again with his icy cold if not biting voice.

“And the poorly done memory alteration isn’t your doing too, Shirogane? But, although destroyed, I faintly feel a familiar weak barrier had been put here.”

Ren could felt it. He was in big trouble, heck scratch that he was in giant megaloom humungous trouble. His shoulder slumped a little. A loud sigh escaped his mouth. Any excuse he put now would only make his punishment got worse. The old bat always made him do excessive training whether he was guilty or not. May as well take responsibility. Less hurt that way. He took a deep breath and bowed to the man.

“That….barrier….was my doing and the poorly-” Ren cringed a little. “-memory alteration too, Sensei. My apologize. The main branch will take care of the damage and investigate the ‘rogue people’.”

There! His money went away, fly away, good bye his precious bank account.

“Good.” His sensei nodded and averted his gaze to Suzuki girl and the fainted guy. “I’m sorry young lady I hope my apprentice didn’t cause you too much trouble.”

The man bowed a little and straightened out along with Renjou, never intending to say anymore words. He left the place with Ren following behind. But before Renjou got too far he half turned toward the girl and smirked at her.

“You know. Someday, IF you become a ‘real mage’ and we meet again maybe I’ll explain things properly to you.” But he doubted she would need that. After all, once you become a real mage, any ‘explanation’ from other mages usually only lead to traps and deception.

“Ja-ne~ Suzuki Rhodes” He waved and caught up to his sensei’s stride, hands inside his pockets.

“She’s a rare one. White mages, isn’t she? And her Spell-link too.” His sensei talked quietly to him.

“Yeah-…”

They walked away from the school ground. The gentle breeze was pursuing them and the leaves were dancing at the back. It blew Renjou’s red bangs. He took off the last two hair pins and dropped it to the ground.

“…-they are.”

They disappeared as fast as the wind.

The ending of a beginning, final line of a starting point.
