Josif nodded, his demeanor still a bit solemn. "Of course," he replied to John's brunette wife. "I didn't quite expect John to talk about me. Life was rather...strange during 5th grade. None of my friends ever seem to mention anything from that time." The man cracked an almost wry smile, but made sure it was somewhat overshadowed by grief. This was how Josif lived his life - calculating every movement he or anyone else made.
"I understand if you want me to leave," he inquired. "I have lost a loved one before, and all I wanted to do was stay home and wallow in grief." He cracked another smile at the brunette. "It was certainly nice to meet you." Josif raised his voice a tad so he was no longer speaking in a murmur. "Even if it was to be under these circumstances."
To be honest, Josif didn't particularly like this woman. Despite that, it would be a lie if he said he disliked her. She was bearable, and Josif could be around her and not desperately want to leave. But John's wife was like all the others. She was of no interest to Josif, but he would have no problem getting to know her better. Of course, Josif wouldn't mind getting to know anyone better; it certainly helped, considering his job.
