Marishka Amur

Image

Role
Shapeshifting Vampire

Gender
Female

Age
19

Grade
College Junior

Physical Description
Human:
Marishka stands at 5'8 and weighs around 132lbs. Her hair is a glossy black that fall to mid-back that also seems to whip around even when there is no wind. Her eyes are an emerald green that are often described as "cat-like" or as "cat's-eye" and those descriptions aren't that far off. In times when she is emotionally unstable or is feeling a deep emotion her green eyes will become... Cat-like. Marishka actually only has one eye, and that is her left eye. She lost her right eye and now wears an eye patch almost all the time. She has unusually sharp teeth, with canines that are slightly elongated and curved. She also has a reflex with her hands. If she tenses any tiny bit, her already and always sharp nails will seems to grow and strengthen. They're retractable.

Tiger:
White and black stripes, a tail, paws and whiskers. A white Siberian tiger with no right eye. A lot of people actually gape or just plain out run when they set eyes on her in this form. She actually does look scary due to some scarring of her beautiful coat in the leg areas. Her weigh and height in not recorded anywhere so you can just say she's huge. One main detail that is unique about her is that her eye isn't blue like the average white tiger. It's actually green.

Clothes:
Black and white her usual colors, but sometimes she will go adorned with red or blue clothing. She had never been seen wearing yellow or orange or pink. She'll wear black jeans with a black leather jacket with a white T-shirt. Marishka just wears whatever feels natural to her. She doesn't really care about how others see her or about the current fashion.

I can...
Morph into a white Siberian tiger, fight back, see in the dark, smell people from two miles away, read for long periods of time, run and laugh when you try to follow, stare you down, and listen like no other friend, eat more than her fill, sketch, be super competitive, be very territorial, and very aggressive when offended.

But I can't...
Follow rules, cook for her life, recognize a (good or bad) joke, speak of inner thoughts or true feelings, stay still for more than a few seconds (except for when she's reading), leave her siblings behind, quit school, ignore a good fight, back down when she should and take no as an answer.

Personality
Marishka can sometimes give off the air of being an impulsive and carefree woman but is responsible when it comes to her brothers and sisters. Oh, she is impulsive but most people would think that she didn't think things through when she really does and just can't seem to do what an obedient student would do. She knows she'd be in serious trouble if she didn't back away from a fight with a rich snobby kid, and yet she'd still punch the kid and then not regret it later. She lives with the punishment, knowing she deserved it. Or she will back down and just get back at the rich kid later that would result in her having no punishment at all. She can be a smart-ass when she wants to be, the only thing with her is that once she truly becomes your friend will she really stick by your side.

Although Marishka can seem like a great best friend, don't be fooled. If she had a choice between her saving the life of her best friend or her own, than she'd choose to save herself. She's selfish and sometimes feels a bit... strange about being trusted all the time, so she likes to remind people now and then that they can't really seem to trust her. The truth is that she doesn't like the fact that trust is a fragile thing that she doesn't like breaking a lot. So is honesty. A great liar at heart when it comes to hiding a logical and reasonable thing, but lying about something illogical like, say, Heather having a crush on Sam is a problem. (Heather and Sam are names I'm using as examples.) The only people whose trust and honesty she really relishes is her younger siblings. Their her blood and kin, her only confidantes, the only members in her family that don't treat her like crap, and at dark times, the only reasons for her to keep going. So you can say that she is a very protective mother at heart. Well, that would be an understatement due to the fact that she doesn't even want her younger siblings to stay after school when night approaches early or even playing at the playground without more than two adults watching over them. Marishka can sometimes be a bit overprotective that she doesn't like when her "kids" go to the park or go dog walking. She doesn't like it when her brothers and sisters mess around or even pet other animals that aren't felines.

Marishka is just a person who is often seen as lazy, impulsive and... feral. She growls when she feels like growling; even in her human form. She'll bare her teeth at people she doesn't like, she'll purr when happy, and snarl when angry. She does things instinctively and can sometimes shapeshift when under a lot of stress or feeling emotionally unstable. Thus, making her a danger when hectic things happens, but its a good thing she has a very tight control on this part of herself. She knows that letting her wildness loose in the presence of her younger brothers and sisters can be dangerous to them. So, she is always seen as nonchalant and not alert, when really, she's surveying the area constantly and keeping her back to the wall.

She is usually friendly and chatty when in the company of people, although she rarely ever starts the conversation. Preferring to let others start the conversation, she really doesn't mind being social unless in the presence of some annoying and jittery person. She is also part feline so beware. That just means that if you act like prey, she'll treat you like prey and if you run, it is guaranteed that she will chase. Oh, and if you make any type of wrong move, she will pounce, verbally or physically.

I like...
 • Running for long distances
 • Making others laugh
 • Teasing others
 • Reading novels and memoirs
 • Her younger brothers and sisters
 • Hunting, or stalking prey
 • Keeping her friends or siblings safe
 • Listening to very loud music
 • White chocolate
 • Disobeying orders and rules
 • Fighting with others, be it a mock fight or a serious fight

But I don't like...
 • Being offended or insulted
 • Challenged when in unfamiliar territory
 • Strangers in her territory without her knowing
 • Strangers or friends touching her in either form
 • Pitied from arrogant rich humans or even other vampires
 • People threatening her family.
 • Red Velvet Cake
 • Vegetables, or anything green sitting on her plate
 • Nail polish or hair salons

Crush
"Ah, I'm currently supporting four children and I don't have the time to make goo goo eyes at some guy."

History
Marishka Amur, daughter of a drunk and a woman who doesn't know how to care for her children. Marishka was thrown out of the house when she was 15 and able to defend herself due to her vampirism. She had four siblings. The twins (Aleera and Gabe), Jace and the little Sarah. Her life was harsh and cold, mostly due to the fact that she worked several jobs and often has to result to stealing to support her siblings. Marishka often doesn't let strangers know about her family or that she sometimes sleeps in the forest or that her idea of home is someone's basement.

Although there is a question a lot of people ask when she greets them for the first time. What happened to your eye? Marishka understands why people ask but she doesn't like answering over and over again or letting others know what happened. It happened when her drunk father found out she was a vampire and lost it when she tried to go to her room to do homework, acting as if she was still... normal. Her dad had one of his legendary fits and started to beat her and had used a broken glass bottle to scar her for life. During the accident she lost consciousness and awoke in a hospital to find her field of vision short. A minute later her doctor appeared and told her she had completely lost her right eye. when he answered, she had simply replied with a "No kidding!"

After that Marishka checked herself out and practically began to live on her own, knowing she wasn't welcomed in her old home, er, the ruins of her home.

|Theme Song| Imagine Dragons - Radioactive

I'm waking up to ash and dust
I wipe my brow and I sweat my rust
I'm breathing in the chemicals
I'm breaking in, shaping up, checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my system blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

I raise my flags, don my clothes
It's a revolution, I suppose
We'll paint it red to fit right in
Whoa
I'm breaking in, shaping up, checking out on the prison bus
This is it, the apocalypse
Whoa

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my system blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

All systems go, sun hasn't died
Deep in my bones, straight from inside

I'm waking up, I feel it in my bones
Enough to make my system blow
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Welcome to the new age, to the new age
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive
Whoa, whoa, I'm radioactive, radioactive

Marishka Amur

It wasn't a windy day and the perfectly healthy green tree was shaking, but the group of normal everyday humans that was standing too close didn't seem to notice. That is until they head a loud snapping sound and a figure clad in black fell from the boughs of the tree. They all stopped chattering immediately, staring at the figure until it gave a sharp growl and walked away, toward the vampire dorm. The humans then forgot about the figure. Almost as if it was normal, the figure thought, her sensitive hearing picking up their words about how great their vacation was even as she distanced herself from them. I guess the rumors of it being a vampire school is partly true. She had heard rumors and snide comments about this school, but had never believed until they had actually accepted her paperwork and now that she was actually here and observing how it all worked during the day (she had arrived the night before), she realized it was a vampire school. Or at least some of the time.

Marishka was able to make it half of the way to the building until a group of large boys stepped on her path. They all wore jerseys and didn't seem to notice her getting jostled and engulfed in their group as they all began to chant something and they were doing things. One meaty boy actually backed into her and she was trying to not fall... when something happened and the entire group was falling and Marishka was on her back staring up at the sky. She got up, pausing to watch the group of boys get to their feet only to stare down at her eye-eyed vampire-ness. She let a slow and lazy grin form on her face before she stood and walked through the crowd ignoring the stares she attracted. It appeared that no one here had ever seen a vampire with an eye-patch.

She had just opened the door and stepped into the building that had looked so much like an abandoned warehouse the night before, when she began to growl uneasily. Marishka, having been thrown out for being what she was, had never spent time in the company of other vampires, thinking it to be wrong. She flicked her one gaze around the place, taking note of the man with the bloody red hair and the other... people. The place smelt of ciggies and other... Animals? She sneezed, smelling the dust and the other scents that permeated the air.

The abandoned building titled dorm that had given her some hope of being a normal student, suddenly became a prison.

This was a bad idea. Thoughts began to take place in her head, mostly negative ones of how she had gotten kicked out of school a week after being thrown out of her home. The other teenagers that had taken it upon themselves to get rid of the black and white kitty cat. Kitty cat. Kitty cat! Marishka tensed but shrugged the foreboding feelings away and skirted around the red haired guy, making it up the stairs, around the corner and she just stopped to let out a tired sigh. She was a shapeshifting vampire that has never met another vampire, and here she was. In a dorm that specifically housed vampires and weird humans called sponsors.

She continued her march up the stairs and paused to see the building already containing some of its inhabitants. She didn't know what to do, and suddenly thought it better to just walk to her room - which she did. She walked to her room calmly and leaving the dorm opened, hoping it looked inviting for people to come and say hello. It would be better and quicker. Just like ripping a band-aid off. She thought, trying very hard to seem positive and not... a serious intense person.

Marishka Amur

Marishka glared at her open door, scrunching her face up into a face that looked way too thoughtful. She had been pacing, or at least thinking of pacing in her tiger form, but it didn't seem possible. The school must of thought a small room would fit her, but the school most likely didn't care about who they put where in the vampire/sponsor dorm building. She shook her head and spat out a curse at whoever put her in the smallest room possible. Marishka walked out into the hall and cocked her head to the right, literally using her one eye to eye the group standing in the corridor. What was the matter with them? Were they planning a major attack on another group? Or just a group of friends talking? They all looked like they knew each other, but Marishka had been outcast in any society/friend group and had forgotten what social talking was like. Although she could care less about what they thought about her.

She was too busy observing them to realize the brown furry bear at the top of the stairs that was actually surprised when she inhaled his musky scent. Marcus! Marishka practically screamed the thought but instead of screaming it out she transformed, on accident. Her eye patch seemed fade and her bones thickened and moved, her skin melting in and her joints were popping. Marishka was then standing on four legs, her black and white hide standing out like blood on snow in the dusty building. Of course, being a one-eyed tiger was almost worse then being a one-eyed person, but it was something she was apparently proud of being. It's not everyday some person sees a green one-eyed tiger that is also white. She liked being different.

Marishka skirted around the group of vampires and humans, making her way to Marcus the big bear she had met some time ago. It was almost strange to walk on four legs inside a building. She also made sure her claws were sheathed and the people were on the left side of her, making sure to keep them away from her blind spot.

Marishka paused a few feet away from the big grizzly, and lifted her nose to smell the air around him. She blinked slowly, a feline's way of saying hi to a good friend or saying, "You seem friend worthy!" It was natural for her to do so, and was quite glad that there was someone she knew here. Or more then just a someone but people. Mara should be here too, if Marcus is here. Her sparring partner was here. Finally! Someone I can spar with... And take out energy on. She couldn't help the last bit. Sure the school work would keep her busy, but after she was done with her schoolwork, she'd still have a lot of restrained energy inside.

Marishka looked at Marcus and sat down. She growled softly.

Dismay stands outside her closed door, staring rather intently at a small scratch that marred the glossy deep-oak finish. Feeling a twinge of discontentment at the sight of this flaw that had intruded her perfect space, she gave a soft sigh. No matter how hard I try to brush away these disturbances of non-order, they keep coming back! And to think; outside on my very own front door..." "Hey people,". And here was yet another disturbance on her peace; other vampires. Turning her head to the right, Dismay could make out a male vampire standing down the hall from her own room, shouting like an idiot. She couldn't help but have one eyebrow twitch in annoyance at his loud voice. Before really thinking it through, she bites out, her voice cold, emotionless, yet eerily soft "Its rude to be loud near other people's room. I'd appreciate it if you'd show some courtesy and not be so uncouth." Without waiting to see his reaction, Dismay turns on her heels before continuing down the darkened hallway to her final destination: the utility room for some new lightbulbs.

However, half-way down the hall, Dismay pauses a few feet away from the animals and the other vampires gathered in the middle of the walkway. Her blood red eyes trained on them without emotion as she stared at them, non blinking. Part of her couldn't help but wonder what they were doing blocking the hall and the other part just felt annoyance. Everyone seemed to be getting in the way of her tasks today. Not that she really cared about their presence but still. "I should probably check them.." came her soft muse as she side-stepped to the right to lean against a wall. Closing her eyes, she takes a deep breath before blood red tendrils sprout from her small form. Of course, she was the only one who could see them. As if they had a mind of their own, the tendrils began to snake their way through the building, latching briefly onto Henri, Lilith, Marishka, Reiding and Mara. A small, slight shock entered the said vampire's body briefly before it abruptly disappeared as the tendrils had receded back to their owner. With a small sigh, Dismay opens her glowing blood red eyes that slowly faded back to normal "That was pathetic..." came her disappointed murmur as she moved away from the wall.

Usagi Cross

"Usagi..Stop please, your scaring me!" A voice screamed, trembling..yet the girl with pink hair didnt falter. "Stop! STOP!" The voice continued as the "monster" came near. It was taunting her, waiting for her prey to run for it.. Usagi's eyes clenched, 'Th-that isnt me..' "get away, Usagi." A girl cried. "Y-you killed him!' 'No.No! I didnt!' The girl glared and screamed once more. 'Please..Stop, dont say it.' "YOUR A MONSTER!"

Pink eyes snapped open and she jumped, disturbed and scared. She dug her fingers into her hair and held back any unrestrained emotion.
That nightmare shook her body and cold sweat covered her skin. Again, this was the third time this week the memory came back and it was driving her close to insanity.. Literally. Feeling her heart beat fast and hard, she got up warily from her nap and looked at the time.. 'Its only been an h-hour..' Strange, Usagi usually slept more.. Her breath shaky, she sighed. 'Oh well.' It was her first day again at this school, so she assumed that she should get ready. Looking around, she slipped on her messy uniform, consisting of a skirt and a blouse and set off, without even brushing her hair, which had to be a complete pink mess. Though it was something people got used to, since she always fell asleep everywhere, so brushing- she believed was a total waste of time. Along with a few other things..

Walking through the dorms, she past a few humans and felt a few glares, though she merely continued on and looked around for any familiar vamps. It was better to rely in numbers.. But there was that rule.

No mass grouping with vampires without a sponsor(s).

'Stupid rules.' Usagi resisted a roll of her eyes and she sniffed the air. There were a few familiar scents, and to finished her objective at the moment, she turned in the same direction. In the meanwhile, Usagi took her time to observe the place. Nothing really changed. The dorm was a shabby but at the same time decent place to stay. Rotting walls, creaking steps and doors.. Very homey. Though she never really cared since all she did was sleep.. and doing that didnt have anything to do with looking around and judging the area. Yawning, she saw a group of vamps in the distance, consisting of Mara, Henri, and a few others. Not the closest vamps, but who was she close with anyways? Besides they werent bad..

Feeling a shiver run down her spine, she decided not to say anything as the nightmare still gave her a shake. So to calm herself, she slipped out some yarn she kept in her pocket and started to play around with it. Her finger movements were fast and precise as she pulled and twist the string into difficult shapes. It was fun to watch though. And to her, it was fun to do... It was calming as well.

She needed something to calm her down at the moment anyways. Her heart rate was still fast and she didnt enjoy the hard pounding it gave off. Usagi also didnt enjoy the idea of the others hearing her fear.. "..." Trying harder to distract herself, she hummed a small and quiet tune. It was only for her ears to hear... every once in awhile however, she glanced up at the near vampires and couldnt help but hear a few of their own words.. They probably wouldnt notice her at the moment..

[OOC: Not much interaction here, but there will be more, I just want to get a post in :3]

Marishka Amur

Marishka walked out of her room, and literally eyed everyone talking. There were a lot of voices, some soft and quiet, while others were thick with... Scottish? Irish accents? She couldn't tell, due to her brain was slowly processing all this. She only met one vampire in all her life. And that was just Mara, right? Just her sparring partner. Not even a person she could call a friend. She licked her lips and felt something sink to the bottom of her stomach.

Whatever hope she had left of fitting in here, was gone. Even with what normal people dubbed her "kind" she was still an outsider. Or the new kid. Well they were all new kids weren't they? Her eye dilated and quickly became cat-like before she made a throaty cough at the back of her throat; a chuff, or tiger hello. No one noticed, but then again, it was probably the only time she would communicate with them. Just to say Hello or Goodbye. Marishka felt her sharp canines and sighed before retreating back to her. Something that brought her spirit even lower. It was small, cramped, and dull to her senses. There was no breeze to carry scents to her nose. The only good thing about her room was that it had a window near a tree with a strong branch that could hold her weight. It was a get-away thing, or possibly a new bed.

Marishka looked over at her bed and compared it to the tree. The tree won by a land slide. She walked over to one of the two windows and tried to slide it open... but.. found.. it... very... difficult. She gnashed her teeth in frustration, and instead of yanking it upwards, she instinctively yanked it toward herself. With a tiny screech and a sound compared to wood breaking, the window fell from its place. "Umm..." Marishka glanced at the now open frame of a window, she tried to unsuccessfully put it back. When that didn't work, she put the piece by the wall and stared out the window. At the flock of people on campus. Not even thirty minutes, and she already trashed part of her room. She closed her eye and put a hand to her face, I'm such a loser...

Marishka Amur

Tap, tap, tap, tap,... Marishka drummed her nails against the window. Her mind focused on her surroundings. The pointless chatter of the people in the hall, on the first floor and outside the building was endless. "Hey!! Did anyone see some asshole carry..." "Not up here..." "Arrivederci." "Well, lass, we seem to..." She couldn't help but be drawn toward the odd language and accent with which she heard the female voice speak. Just the curiosity sent Marishka's sense of where and who into chaos. She lost the buzz of just listening. So with that over, why shouldn't she go out and find the strange human who spoke that word. Arrivederci. What did that mean?

Marishka licked her lips, blinked her feline slitted eye and walked out of her room. She blinked again when she realized that the group in the hall had grown by two or four people. Just one person was enough to crowd a small place, what's an entire group? She moved cautiously, still wary of the strangers. Her back was literally to the wall as she scooted toward the direction of the voice she heard. It just happened to be near the stairs... Where a tall red haired man was blocking the way. She growled irritated and tried to seek a way through. There was either leap the side rail which seemed rude, or being polite and ask if she could pass. She decided to be polite.

Marishka took a step forward and that's when she smelt it. She gagged. Cigarettes. Most of the time, she's ignore the smokers, but if she was going to be living in the same building with some smoker, something had to be done. Marishka didn't see any smoke near or floating around the guy, but the smell lingers, and when you had a sniffer better than a blood hound, certain smells could be dangerous. She asked the question abruptly, but hoping to hide the rudeness with the polite tone. "I hope you don't smoke all the time. You're not a two pack a day man, are you?" She paused, and took a step back while cocking her to the right. "I'm sorry if I'm being rude to the both of you, but I really don't approve or even want second hand smoking or.." Marishka got silent really quick, her hackles standing on end with the sudden realization that she probably just started a interrogation or a conversation.

Laz had made it up five steps before she stopped her climb due to the sound of creaking coming from above her followed by the sound of heavy footsteps descending the same flight of stairs. Uh oh. I hope this staircase is bigger than it felt, otherwise there may be a problem. Judging from the volume of the footfalls whoever was coming down these stairs, most likely male from the beat and the way the sole of his shoes sounded, was quite large.

Her suspicions were confirmed when a rather distinctive sounding deep voice with a Scottish accent spoke, “Well, lass, we seem to be in a bit of a bind.” Her ears did not deceive her, although she could never have guessed that he would be of Scottish decent. Admittedly, she was very surprised to have the unique experience of meeting a Scotsman here of all places. Although, it is the university of diversity.

While her eyes could never see him she still lowered her dark sunglasses and feigned looking up at him with a little smile on her face. Cocking her head she placed the handle of her cane on her lips playfully. “Let me guess, poor little blind old me is blocking the stairway and you are actually going to ask me to move? Don’t you think that’s a little inconsiderate?”

She lowered the tip of her cane down to the floor with a loud tap. Before pushing her sunglasses back up to cover her eyes and sticking her tongue out a little bit. “Nah, I’m just joking. Mi scusa. Just couldn’t resist the opportunity to mess with someone. I'm Laz by the way.” She was already holding the handle on the stairway so finding a wall and pushing herself up against it to make way for the boy was a fairly easy task. “Is this enough room for you? This is probably the fastest way for you to get down the stai-“

Laz was cut off by the faint sound of growling and she flinched a little surprised. She wasn’t entirely sure if that was a human or a cat. Then the mysterious creature spoke, "I hope you don't smoke all the time. You're not a two pack a day man, are you? I'm sorry if I'm being rude to the both of you, but I really don't approve or even want second hand smoking or…”

So it was a human girl, that or the voice belonged to a witch vampire’s familiar, however she doubted it. The blind girl bit her bottom lip as she attempted to hold her tongue lashing. Especially since, judging from the way her voice drifted off, she was probably nervous and Laz didn’t want to make the situation any worse for her. “Va bene, I’m not insulted, although I can’t say the same for my Scottish friend here.” Frankly speaking however, Laz highly doubted this boy was the type to be insulted by such things. In her limited experience with the Scottish she had usually found them to be very able at rising above such petty things as this. It would be disappointing if he was the sensitive type since that would make him one less person able to stand a round of playful banter with her.

Kaiden hadn't thought that trying to get by another person would cause him to be surrounded: if he had, he would have jumped out the window instead, and walked around. You think him to be joking? Nope.

Anyway, the apparent blind girl lowered her sunglasses a smidgen to let Kaiden stare into her blank eyes, which had him questioning his earlier assumption of her being blind. Unless that was what she was going for, but Kaiden threw those types of thoughts out: critical thought and analysis took way too long to think through, and he really didn't want to bother with it. She then suddenly placed the cane at her hips in an odd way, and spoke. “Let me guess, poor little blind old me is blocking the stairway and you are actually going to ask me to move? Don’t you think that’s a little inconsiderate?”

Kaiden raised an eyebrow in confusion before thinking the entire thing through. For starters, Kaiden swore there was a hint of some accent or something in her voice, but he couldn't place it: sure, just because he was raised in a european country didn't mean he cared much about the other countries. It was also her tone that threw him off a little, as if she was trying to make him feel guilty for asking such a simple question. Kaiden was starting to feel that this wasn't going to be an easy ordeal, and was about to give his answer - which was going to be a simple 'No' - when the girl brought her cane down, and pushed her sunglasses back up.

“Nah, I’m just joking. Mi scusa. Just couldn’t resist the opportunity to mess with someone. I'm Laz by the way.” Kaiden was left slightly stunned by her sudden change in attitude, but it couldn't stop the grin from forming onto his face when she moved over and speaking again. “Is this enough room for you? This is probably the fastest way for you to get down the stai-“

Kaiden had been finally prepared to continue such an interesting conversation with this mysterious 'Laz' when a voice squeaked behind him. While squeaked would most likely be correct, it was how Kaiden interpreted the polite tone. "I hope you don't smoke all the time. You're not a two pack a day man, are you? I'm sorry if I'm being rude to the both of you, but I really don't approve or even want second hand smoking or…” Gone was Kaiden's grin to be replaced with confusion once more. See, he hadn't had a cigarette in... Three days? Four? Whenever my last match was, anyway. That time alone should have erased most of the smell that the cigarette stained his clothing with - which was his main pet peeve when it came to his habit, as he hated having weird smells in his clothing - so the better question was: how did this lady, to whom Kaiden probably had never met and wasn't facing, know that he smoked?

Kaiden narrowed it down instantly to 2 options: either this girl had a super nose or something to smell the unlit cigarette in his mouth or she had seen him walking by, which Kaiden couldn't rule out. However, it seemed that he was just a silent statue since Laz jumped in with her own answer pretty darn quick: Va bene, I’m not insulted, although I can’t say the same for my Scottish friend here.” Kaiden gave a small chuckle, his back still towards the girl behind him, at Laz's response. What was his stance? That could be summed up in his response - which he was finally allowed to give.

"Can't be offended by things that aren't offensive." He stated bluntly. Truly, Kaiden couldn't see how it was even close to being offensive: the girl was looking out for herself, and voiced her concerns. "I'm more curious as to how you realized I smoked when I haven't lit one up for a few days, and this one isn't lit." As it was, his voice was slightly muffled due to the unlit cigarette in his mouth, but it was still very audible as he turned his head to finally get a look at the girl behind him: thin, black hair, eye... patch? That's different. Kaiden still looked at her with his bored amber eyes, the question still out in the open.

After that simple second of looking her in the eye, Kaiden turned back to his first conversational partner who was still against the wall, as if to continue the conversation. "Didn't know the blind liked to make jokes." He gave her a smirk, acknowledging the fact that regardless of her condition, she still made fun of him. "Name's Kaiden." Normally, Kaiden would shake hands with her or something, but he dismissed those ideas: not under the pretense that she was blind, but simply because he never liked doing that. What was so wrong with just stating your name? That didn't mean that you had to touch each other's hands now, does it?

Anywho, Kaiden turned his body towards the railing, across from Laz and the mystery girl to allow site between the both of them - well, at least one of them. Now it was only a matter of turning his head to the left or right to see both of them. Resting his body against the guardrail did have one repercussion, however: it creaked under his weight, as if it was yelling at him to move his heavy weight. He was still taking up half the staircase, but not like he cared much.

Crossing his arms and giving out a sigh, Kaiden flicked his eyes between the two of them, and while he did want to hear why the girl to his right had the sniffer of a bloodhound, he was equally curious about Laz. His headband still showing that he was a sponsor, he turned his head towards Laz for a simple question. "You get suckered into this sponsor thing too?" While he was going out on a limb as a guess, it wasn't all that bad: from what he could gather, vampires usually didn't have such health problems, and a lot of them were already here when he showed up. Nevertheless, he was taking a risk.

"Va bene, I’m not insulted, although I can’t say the same for my Scottish friend here.” "Can't be offended by things that aren't offensive." "I'm more curious as to how you realized I smoked when I haven't lit one up for a few days, and this one isn't lit." Marishka studied Kaiden's appearance and smell and stored them at the back of her head, while also doing the same thing to Laz. She listened mindlessly to their conversation, one ear tunes on them, and the listening to the rest of people behind her. "You get suckered into this sponsor thing too?"

Her attention left the room and to the giant obvious sign on his forehead. He was a sponsor. She couldn't help but growl and really look at him. She knew sponsors were what gave vampires like her a chance at a normal almost-human like life. Yet, the feline in her wanted to make sure he wasn't going to roll over and die just by running a mile. His frame, and the built way he looked suggested otherwise though. She stopped the animalistic tendency and tried to calm the tiger in her. "Your a sponsor? For the shapeshifters?"

Marishka was very competitive, and the need to prove herself better than the red-haired man was almost too much. Her hands weren't clenched but they also didn't look like they were free of tension either. Then she inhaled again and looked to Laz. The scent of another vampire was finally getting into her nostrils. It was faint, but it always accompanied all vampires. It was the smell of death, or what she view as Death's signature. Marishka didn't look so relaxed anymore. Everything it seemed she thought herself possible of handling was almost too much. Laz was the first vampire she spoke to in a year, and apparently, Kaiden might be her sponsor.

The blind girl, for a moment wished she could see her two acquaintances, however, just as she usually does she forced herself to forget the wish and move on. Fortunately she was distracted rather easily by an unexpected sound.

Laz raised an eyebrow in response to the sound of chuckling, obviously originating from the Scottish male near the top of the staircase. She hadn’t realized she had said something peculiarly funny, but she wasn’t about to get annoyed at someone for being amused. She was amused a good majority of the time so it really wasn’t her place to make comments. When his chuckling stopped he finally spoke, ”Can’t be offended by things that aren’t offensive.” Well then, he was certainly a good sport and due to this discovery a small grin formed on her face. He could be a fun person to be around, that’s for sure. ”I'm more curious as to how you realized I smoked when I haven't lit one up for a few days, and this one isn't lit." Laz realized then why his voice sounded slightly muffled, He must have a cigarette in his mouth.

As for his question, she thought it obvious. She obviously was a shape-shifting vampire with a good nose. Laz was blind and even she could figure that out. How? Well, her animalistic like growl told her that she was either a talking animal or a vampire with animal-like qualities. The Scotsman’s lack of surprise in his voice told her that she was probably not a talking animal, that leaves only the latter option. Due to his lack of knowledge Laz also figured that he was more than likely not a vampire nor did he have a lot of experience with them. Not that it really mattered to her either way.

Unconsciously, Laz’s grip on the railing tightened. She wasn’t worried but it was human nature to want to steady oneself, especially on stairwells. She also tapped the grip of her cane with her index finger; it was something like a nervous tick except she did it even when she wasn’t nervous. It was more like a bad habit. "Didn't know the blind liked to make jokes." Laz could practically hear his smirk, and due to this one of her own embellished her face. He’s lucky I’m sharp enough to know he’s joking, otherwise I’d be insulted.

”Name’s Kaiden.” Laz hummed a bit as she thought up her response to the boy’s comment. She could be serious or she could take a more playful approach. She decided to simply settle and bide her time for a better opportunity.

Shrugging, as though she was brushing his comment aside, she responded, “Oh, they don’t, but I’m peculiar so I do.” She bit her bottom lip as her grin widened, “But, honestly, there you go being inconsiderate again, Kaiden. Stereotyping me like that.” She snorted a bit and winked from behind her sunglasses. The girl didn’t think about whether or not he could see the action until after the fact and the thought went away as quickly as it came.

She jumped just a little at the sound of feet approaching her from above as what she assumed to be the boy came down the stairs just a little before stopping slightly across from her. She guessed that he was probably leaning against the staircase judging by the pitiful shrieks the wood gave when he stopped. For a moment she did in fact feel sympathetic for the stairs that were obviously quite old and unwilling to support so much weight. She questioned for a moment whether the steps would hold or not, but figured a second later they’d be okay.

Unexpectedly, she heard a sigh from the boy and felt curious as to his reasons. On the same token however she really didn’t feel like it was any of her concern so she didn’t ask. Plus, he spoke before she had the opportunity to, ”You get suckered into this sponsor thing too? So he was a sponsor. Laz wondered which vampire type he was sponsoring; however before that she had to address the ‘suckered’ part of his comment.

She was about to open her mouth and speak but the quiet shape-shifter at the top of the staircase spoke first, ”You’re a sponsor? For the Shape-Shifters?” Well at least that question was answered for her.

“Lucky you, Miss…” Laz purposely left the end of her sentence unfinished in hopes that the young lady would catch her drift and say her name. It was kind of rude not to introduce yourself to someone when have a conversation with them, but Laz was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt and simply assume she had forgotten.

Rather then waiting for her response, however, Laz chose to respond to Kaiden’s question. “Now now, Kaiden, at least I have a reasonable excuse for not reading the paper before I signed it.” Smiling she tapped her cane on the stairs lightly and somewhat playfully. She also leaned towards where she assumed he stood in such a way that it appeared she was sharing a secret, “Of course, I’m fully aware of what I signed on for. What can I say, I enjoy a good adventure from time to time and that’s exactly what this is.” She stuck her tongue out playfully again before chuckling a little and relaxing against the wall once more.

“Oh, they don’t, but I’m peculiar so I do. But, honestly, there you go being inconsiderate again, Kaiden. Stereotyping me like that.” Kaiden couldn't help but give Laz another grin: for a girl with a handicap, she knew how to put others in their place if they tried picking on her. Strong, fierce willed - Oddly reminds me of Mum. Weird. Kaiden mentally shook that idea from his head, as now wasn't the time for trivial, stupid thoughts as those. He still had a schedule to follow, and his training wasn't going to do itself. However, as much as he wanted to leave, another part of him wanted to stay. Wasn't often Kaiden got to socialize with somebody that actually had a spine.

Kaiden heard a soft growl to his right after he spoke to Laz about being a sponsor. Thing was, he was now able to see both of them at once, so he knew that it was the girl that had yet to introduce herself. His eyes glanced over to her sidways, his head never moving as Kaiden watched the mystery girl slowly react; in reality, he couldn't tell much. Kaiden wasn't that big on reading people, so he hadn't a clue what was rushing through her head. What he did know was that her stance had stiffened, as if she was preparing for a fight; that he knew easily. It was then that she spoke in that odd tone, which Kaiden couldn't quite catch. "Your a sponsor? For the shapeshifters?"

Kaiden's right eyebrow raised in curiousity at her statement, and his lips tugged a little to form a slight smirk before falling back. "Aye lass, and I'm going to guess your one of 'em shapeshifters, like Mouseman over there." Kaiden's head nodded in the direction that Ruari had gone scampering off - if memory served him right, mice had good hearing so Ruari would probably hear him and start complaining or something. Afterwards he brought his head back and gave the mystery girl a quick once over to memorize her for later: if he was to watch over these people, it would be best if he knew them. Though that eyepatch would be pretty damn hard to miss.

Lucky you, Miss… Kaiden raised an eyebrow at the double-edged comment. If Kaiden truly cared about socialization, he could have been offended as Laz would be one to throw sarcasm in. However, Kaiden didn't like to read into words that much, as their face value always seemed to suffice for him. Sarcasm was only used in conversations such as these. Instead, Kaiden heard Laz's comment the way the words stated, and the lack of ending was probably due to the fact that neither Kaiden nor Laz knew her name.

“Now now, Kaiden, at least I have a reasonable excuse for not reading the paper before I signed it.” Again with blind joke: Kaiden was amazed that people with spines AND humor could exist. He needed more of these people, and fast - maybe then he would be able to socialize better. He did have to admit ignorance and naivety, but the jab still stung slightly at the fact that he was stupid enough to get himself into this situation. As he turned back to Laz, she was leaning in towards him as if she were about to whisper. Odd, Kaiden never really partook in such conversations. “Of course, I’m fully aware of what I signed on for. What can I say, I enjoy a good adventure from time to time and that’s exactly what this is.” A quick tongue and a chuckle before she leaned back, and Kaiden was back to smiling again. There was something about Laz that could actually engage Kaiden in conversation without him just leaving after the important parts were done.

Hoping that the mystery shapeshifter would give her name, but unwilling to really wait Kaiden responded to Laz's little jabs. "Whose being inconsiderate now, hm?" Kaiden's smile fell to a slight grin as he mulled over his options: either get to the point and explain his situation, or stick with the banter approach. He chose both. "I came to this school for the athletics department, so when the Suit said the word scholarship, I see the word 'Money'." He gave a shrug. "Oh well. I'm here, so I'll get used to it so long as I can compete." True, Kaiden knew he was being slightly vague about why he was at this school exactly, but he didn't need to just throw information at Laz on their first meeting, Kaiden knew that much at least about socialization. No, Kaiden would bide his time, as he knew that she would either make a joke or question his athleticism or something, and hopefully the shapeshifting lass would clarify her name.

"Whose being inconsiderate now, hm?" Laz snorted, he was turning her own statements back on her, how lovely. Still though, he had a point. She supposed she was being a little inconsiderate of him and even herself…if that is even possible. Could one be inconsiderate of their self? Not that it really mattered that much, she could never feel insulted by her own words. Especially since she knew for a fact that she didn’t mean anything by it, it was merely an innocent joke.

Still though, she supposed he could feel hurt. Not that she thought he was actually insulted either, if anything he was doing the same thing she’d been doing to him from the moment they’d started this conversation. Which, by the way, was a conversation she was rather enjoying actually. It wasn’t every day she met someone tough enough to mess with. “Touché, Kaiden.” She gave him a quiet clap, sort of like a silent round of applause, however that didn’t mean she was admitting defeat. Laz would never admit defeat that easily. Not that she thought she was in a battle or anything. Well, maybe a battle of words but most certainly not a physical one.

"I came to this school for the athletics department, so when the Suit said the word scholarship, I see the word 'Money'." Laz raised an eyebrow at the comment, I didn’t realize this school had an athletics department worth attending. Not that I would put much thought into something like that considering. She cut her thoughts short when Kaiden continued talking, "Oh well. I'm here, so I'll get used to it so long as I can compete." He at least had a reasonable attitude about his situation. Actually, he seemed like he had a reasonable attitude about most things. How wonderful.

“Well, at least you have a good attitude about it. That’s better than some I’m sure.” Laz smirked a little as she leaned in again, she would have elbowed him but frankly she wasn’t entirely sure where he was and she didn’t want to accidently elbow the wall and look like a complete fool. Anyways, continuing where she left off she spoke again, “So, sports huh? Can’t say I’m much for them myself. Don’t really have a great deal of hand-eye coordination, still not really sure why but I’m getting tested.” She chuckled before an innocent smile embellished her face.

“I’m curious, though, what kind of sports are you into? Soccer, tennis,” then in a somewhat loud whisper, “dodge-ball?” Snickering a little she continued, “I’m awful at dodge-ball. I just never seem to see the balls coming.”

Dropping the silliness Laz straightened up, “Seriously though, if you’re in the athletics program you must be decent at least, what do you play?” Smirking a bit Laz’s playfulness reared its ugly head once more; “Perhaps I’ll come watch you sometime…or not.” She adjusted her sunglasses as she finished her ridiculous statement.

Tilting her head in the direction of the shape-shifter she frowned a little, she was being awfully quiet and still had yet to give her name. Laz supposed that she could be incredibly shy, but still, Kaiden had asked her point blank what her name was, and Laz had hinted towards it once already. However, Laz was in a good mood for now, no need to ruin it by addressing the shy girl’s lack of communication. Plus, she didn’t see any need to be rude, nor did she want to. Instead, she felt that perhaps a little kindness could go a long way. Grinning in the direction she last heard the shape-shifter she addressed her again, “There is no need to be shy, I promise I’m not as silly as I’m acting and I can actually have a serious conversation every once in a blue moon if you would ever like to have one.”

She turned back towards where she assumed the Scottish boy was still standing, then with a sigh and a pouting face she spoke at him, “I suppose that goes for you too, Kaiden. You’ll just have to let me know when the moon’s blue.” She laughed in an awkward and embarrassed manner. She supposed the joke was cheesy and pathetic but she enjoyed it anyways.

Marishka Amur

Marishka didn't realize her mind had done blank until she heard Laz speak. “There is no need to be shy, I promise I’m not as silly as I’m acting and I can actually have a serious conversation every once in a blue moon if you would ever like to have one.” “I suppose that goes for you too, Kaiden. You’ll just have to let me know when the moon’s blue.” She snapped out of it and bared her teeth, her elongated canines showing as she yawned. "My is Marishka Amur... And Wrestling or Boxing?" She stuck her face a bit closer to Kaiden and sniffed, "Huh, you do both?" She pulled away and couldn't help but grin as her eye went cat-like. "I finally found a training partner. Maybe you'll longer than the last one." The way her words came out suggested the sentence to be friendly, but the dangerous gleam in eye her spoke otherwise. Being partially blind didn't

Marishka felt the way Kaiden and Laz held themselves, and there was no hint of fear or even caution. It was odd, not be treated like an Outsider or even as an Enemy. It was an eery feeling. The tiger in her was restless, and the need to move and explore more of her new territory made her twitchy. Her fingers ran along the wooden rail, her claws making a hollow noise that kept from withdrawing from her reality again.

Marishka sighed, "I'm guessing I'll see you two later." She leaped down the flight of stairs, and walked down the rest of them. Her nose and ears working overtime as she walked out of the building. She wandered the area around her dorm, and quickly caught the scent of sweat and the bitterness of metal. She found the gym, er, training center. She didn't exactly know what it was, but she assumed from the weights and the treadmills that it was some sort of athletics facility.

“Touché, Kaiden.” That wasn't entirely a word that Kaiden was familiar with, but he quickly presumed that it simply meant something like 'right back at ya'. When he mentioned that he was in here for athletics, her face gave a hint of surprise, to which Kaiden could silently acknowledge: this wasn't his first pick for his sport, since their athletics department was pretty damn weak, but they were at least willing to accept him. Apparently a lot of the other schools frowned upon him beating the crap out of that one brat, even though his original school gave him a full pardon.

“Well, at least you have a good attitude about it. That’s better than some I’m sure.” Kaiden raised an eyebrow, not entirely knowing that there were 'others' that would have a different attitude. After all, there was no way out of it, so why not just accept what you have and move on? “So, sports huh? Can’t say I’m much for them myself. Don’t really have a great deal of hand-eye coordination, still not really sure why but I’m getting tested.” She quickly grabbed hold of this new piece of information, and Kaiden rolled his eyes at the first joke she made. Kaiden had a feeling that this Laz lass was going to be one of those girls you don't find very often.

“I’m curious, though, what kind of sports are you into? Soccer, tennis,” She then suddenly dropped her voice, to a loud whisper. “dodge-ball? I’m awful at dodge-ball. I just never seem to see the balls coming.” Again, a roll of the eyes on his part; however he had to say that he was mildly disappointed that she wasn't able to guess anywhere close to his sport. Sure, he had played all three of those and crushed multitudes of 'superstars' - the actually good players killed him just as fast as he did the others - but he wasn't all that keen on any of them.

Seriously though, if you’re in the athletics program you must be decent at least, what do you play? Perhaps I’ll come watch you sometime…or not. Kaiden had to admit that her jokes were beginning to wear a little thin on him, but he didn't entirely mind: sometimes other people needed this sort of release through words, as so he has been told. Laz then looked over at the nameless shapeshifter before making a comment, and then firing one on him as well. “I suppose that goes for you too, Kaiden. You’ll just have to let me know when the moon’s blue.” As if Laz was able to realize the number of cheesy jokes she had said was pretty damn high, an awkward laugh was emitted from her lips.

Kaiden gave her a raised eyebrow, before finally speaking. "I'm a championship fighter; specialize in boxing and wrestling, but any form of combat is my thing." He gave a shrug, his attitude returning to its causal monotone to keep efficiency at its height. "Though most sports are pretty easy to catch up on if I felt like it."

Finally the girl to his right seemed to snap out of whatever she was in, and finally spoke with canines elongate- Wait, what. Kaiden did a slight double take as he noticed her canines were pretty long compared to his own. Odd. "My is Marishka Amur... And Wrestling or Boxing?" As if she didn't care much for the entire conversation that went around her, the girl he now knew as Marishka - to whom Kaiden knew he would never be able to pronounce that name, so he would need a nickname pronto - leaned towards him slightly and sniffed. Kaiden would be lying if he said he wasn't unnerved by her actions, his face however showing little. She then backed up and gave a cat like grin, with eyes and everything. How... odd.

"I finally found a training partner. Maybe you'll longer than the last one." Her smugness irked Kaiden, which reminded him of his countless siblings issuing backhanded compliments just like this one. He gave a huff of disapproval in her choice of words before she spoke again. "I'm guessing I'll see you two later." With that, Mari (possible nickname for her under the approval of Kaiden) nimbly jumped down half of the stairs before walking the rest. Kaiden watched her leave out of the corner of his eye, before giving another huff and a mumble.

"We'll see who lasts longer, lassie." He gave a smirk before turning to Laz to speak, the smirk fading from his face. "Well, that was useful: I now know of two of my vampires, and both will be a fight to deal with."
