"Since last December," Rachel admitted, putting the hair tie back around her wrist. She then started playing with one of the papers in her stack, bending the edge slightly. Rachel always had to be doing something with her hands, whether it was picking at her nail polish or playing with her hair, or any other object around her. "I sometimes can't fall alseep for nights on end, and then other days I sleep more than is necessary. It drives me up the walls," she exhaled. Today, she was running on about three hours worth of sleep, yet she wasn't tired. She felt jumpy, alert, but it was an un-natural feeling.

"Hm. Perhaps I could arrange some sleeping tablets for you? Or - well, do you find that there are any activities which tire you more than others?"
Dr. Moran glanced at the clock - he would have to call the session to an end soon. He sighed, leaning back in his chair and raising his eyebrows in question to the girl, waiting for an answer. Her fingers were playing with the edges of her papers, and he found himself watching them absentmindedly.

He chuckled, quietly.
"Well, I don't think that sleeping with someone is an option, as you don't have a roomate." He smiled, then checked the clock again, and sighed. "I'm afraid I have to draw the session to a close here, as I have another patient waiting outside at the moment. I'll see you at the same time in, say...two days time? I can see you tomorrow, if you like, but the session would have to be a short one. Hold on-" He pulled a black mobile device out of his pocket, and typed something into it quickly. "-I'll get Luna to meet you out side."

"Kay, that sounds good..." Rachel mused, then got up, hugging the stack of papers to her chest. She could feel fatigue setting in; all those sleepless hours were slowly adding up. She was going to have to sleep sometime soon.

Dr. Moran stood up as the girl swayed, concern in his face. He put a hand on her elbow to steady her.
"Careful. You need to get some sleep immediately." The doctor guided her outside into the waiting room. "You need to sit down and wait until Miss. Byrd comes to collect you. I don't want you wondering off and collapsing." He smiled at her, his eyes twinkling. "It appears my next patient hasn't arrived yet, so I'll wait with you."
His tone was lighthearted, but there was still lingering concern in his voice.

The edges of Rachel's vision went black for a second, sending her into minor panic, but then she realized that it was just the fatigue. She did as Dr. Moran told her and sat down, resting her head in her hands. Her hair fell around her face like a brown curtain, and she closed her eyes, rubbing at her temples. If she slept now, she was probably not gonna be able to sleep for the rest of the night. But if she didn't sleep now, it was gonna pass her, and she STILL wouldn't get any sleep later.
"Thanks for waiting," she said softly, barely hearing her own voice.

The doctor sat down next to Rachel, watching her closely. He could tell she was on the edge of falling asleep where she was, and said nothing, allowing her to sit with her eyes closed. They waited in a comfortable silence, and it was nearly five minutes later when Dr. Moran's mobile chimed. He glanced at it.
"Miss. Byrd is on her way here now. I'll get her to take you back to your room." His eyes met hers, and he held her gaze. "You need rest." He said firmly.

Even through her sleepy eyes, Rachel blushed when she met Dr. Moran's gaze. A smile tugged at her lips, and she bit her bottom lip to keep from looking like a complete idiot. "I know," she replied. "Hopefully I won't wake up tired."

The doctor made a vague noise of agreement, but his gaze was drawn away from Rachel as the door opened and Luna Byrd walked into the room. She was wearing overalls covered in paint, splashes of the stuff smeared over her face and arms as well, and she looked more than a little perturbed at being asked to come and collect Miss Devenport. He knew she'd been called out of her recreation time - it was her supervisor he'd contacted on his mobile.

------------------------------------------------------

Luna walked a little way into the room and stopped.
"Dr. Moron." She acknowledged him with a nod of her head, and then grinned a little at her own joke, no matter how childish it was. "Couldn't you find anyone else to do this for you?" She said bluntly, and more than a little irritably. She couldn't stand being interrupted in the middle of painting. It was her escape. Luna pressed her lips together for a moment, then caught Rachel's eye, smiling apologetically. After all, it wasn't her fault, and she did like the girl.
Dr. Moran stood up, his face set.
"My, Luna. What a display of rudeness. How unlike you." He said, his expression stony. Luna stiffened as he took a few steps towards her. "I was under the impression that you had befriended Miss Devenport. It's lucky I warned her that most of the inmates here psychopaths, with no idea of manners." The doctor smiled maliciously as Luna's fists clenched slightly by her sides. If there were two things she hated, it was being grouped in with 'the crazies', and people with no manners. The suggestion that she herself was incapable of displaying them would always hit a nerve, and the doctor knew it.
"Did you warn her before or after you introduced yourself?" She retorted. Dr. Moran just looked satisfied, and he wagged a chastising finger.
"Now, now, Luna. You know what happens if you start to get abusive."
Two spots of colour rose high in Luna's cheeks at this insult. She swallowed visibly, trying to relax herself.
"My deepest, most sincere apologies." She said, her jaw stiff.
"That's better." Dr. Moran smiled sweetly, and turned to Rachel. "My apologies. Luna has always been rather...difficult."

Rachel felt awkward sitting there while Dr. Moran and Luna were having their conversation, but she was so tired that it didn't even matter to her. She smiled at Luna, and managed to get out of her chair without swaying. "I like the paint," she said softly, gesturing to Luna's clothes.
Her vision was still blurry, and a headache was starting to set in, wrapping around her temples and pulsing softly.

Luna cocked her head to the side, considering Rachel.
"You look tired. Do you object to me touching you?"

"Excellent." She grinned, and then reached forwards and picked Rachel up in one swift movement. "Much easier this way; you look like you're too tired to walk anywhere fast." Luna nodded to Dr. Moran. "I wish I could say that it was nice to see you again."
Dr. Moran said nothing, just raised his eyebrows at her, and went to open the door.
Luna strode out and was away down the hall with Rachel before anything else could be said, appearing to carry the girl with the utmost of ease.

"Damn, I wish I could carry someone like this," Rachel yawned, struggling to keep her eyes open. "Why do you hate Dr. Moran so much...? I think he's wonderful..." she then said, then mentally slapped herself in the face. Why would she say that?! The fatigue must really be getting to her...even though that was exactly how she felt.

Rachel looked up at Luna, scared of what she might say or do. This felt like one of those 'I can explain situations' she was so used to.
"Um...I kind of had an accident," she said softly, gesturing to her scarred arms and legs.
