Dmitri Cherevin

"Come, we shall dance with the Devil tonight!"

a character in “Stacked Deck”, as played by Eisenhorn

Description

Picture: Image
Name: Dmitri Cherevin
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Eye color: Red
Hair color: Jet Black
Height: 6ft 0in
Weight: 168lbs

Appearance: Dmitri dresses rather well, more out of preference than as a status symbol. While the type of suit or clothing underneath varies, he always has the trench coat on at all times and a fedora perched on his head. Usually, he prefers a white dress shirt with a vest and matching tie. Two leather belts break up the black and white, dress pants and steel tipped boots finish his attire. Underneath his coat his favored 1873 Colt Peacemaker, an old revolver that still serves him well. His only other physical weapon is a straight razor he uses both in tandem with the Colt and by itself.

Personality: Unlike some of his superiors and subordinates, Dmitri isn't always cold, calculating, or cruel. Nor is he at the opposite end of the spectrum. Many times he acts as a voice of reason, or barring that, damage control when need be. He his easy going and jovial most of the time, even when fighting. He has a firm belief that brute force is a last resort, preferring to think first. Loyalty is earned, not given, although he is loyal to those above him, mainly the Ace, out of respect rather than fear.

Suit: King of Spades

Power: Dmitri calls his particular talent Spacial Distortion. With a thought, he can break down his form and rebuild in the blink of an eye anywhere he can see. The farther the distance, the more taxing this is on him. To a lesser extent, he can affect objects around him. A fond trick of his is stealing bullets out of the guns of those around him before they fire them. He also does this to keep his Colt loaded at all times, only manually reloading when it suits him.

Bio: Dmitri Cherevin is the tale of a street corner nobody rising up to surprise a fair number of people. A drunken father and nobody mother, he had unusual powers that awoke early. He was able to get around through moving, although sometimes he couldn't control this early on, he learned fast. He fell in with the Suite of Spades, due to the oddness of his talent, and conned, outsmarted, and outmaneuvered everyone who stood in his way once he became a Face. The former King of Spades was his mentor for a long while, and it was his proudest day to bait the former King into a position where he could slit the man's throat. He is perfectly comfortable where he is now, or so he appears. Whether he has contingencies or not is another matter completely.

So begins...

Dmitri was in his own office, if you could call the organized chaos of his quarters an office, and looking out the window. He wasn't really paying much attention to what he was looking at, twirling a revolver as he drifted mentally. More so than some of the other faces of the Suits, he could remember being one of the faceless mass bustling about the Spire, being able only to dream of what decadence existed in the structure that always loomed in sight of wherever you would stand. Neither of his family had been high ranking, and he could appreciate the work the masses put into the continued existence of the entire Hierarchy that the planets Suits resided in. It was impressive, if one thought enough about it, and he chuckled to himself before making the revolver disappear about his person. It was time to see what plotting was going on today, and he patently ignored the shudder that the Spire suffered briefly. The King of Clubs was working out again, and he shrugged to himself and turned away from the window.

Tugging his jacket on smoother, and adjusting the hat to sit properly, he strode out of his office/living quarters, giving a curt nod to several other Suits in passing, no matter what allegiance they swore to. He had no reason to not be polite, and hadn't been given one, so why not. He passed the training rooms, ever active they were even into the night where Suits who had to burn off some energy before sleeping no doubt would lurk. Of course, there were plenty of rooms that let those Suits who had no real want to be outside the place without a mission could function. He liked leaving the Spire for both missions and to just get some fresh air every now and then. It was a good reminder of where he came from, what he had done to get here, and that he had gotten as far as he had. There was no doubt a meeting of some sorts, having spotted several other Suits that he recognized heading off in the same general direction. He grinned, might as well see what was going on. Hitting the stair well, he just glanced at the landing at the top and, just like that, was there. He had no interest in walking that whole way, so he just relocated.

Dmitri walked into the room, noting everyone present. Ace of Spades was there, so he inclined his head slightly, lifting his hat in greeting. "Ma'am." Turning to the others present, he grinned. "Good day folks, miss anything important?"

Dmitri, King of Spades, leaned against the wall, arms crossed across his stomach. He always tried to along well with the others, whether his superior was big on doing so or not. Smirking to himself with the though, he let the others either respond or continue with whatever they were discussing before hand. He felt no need to try and prompt and cajole them into telling him every juicy detail of what was said so far. He suspected nothing worth being called juicy was mentioned so far.

Kintry smiled brightly, her entire face seeming to light up as she took in Ogar's greeting. She chuckled brightly, ignoring the suit of the Spades, as she didn't particularly like them. Well, most of them anyway. The girl brightly waved to Lawrence. "Morning, afternoon! Whichever it is, it's all the same to me." She then trotted straight over to the couch Ogar was currently overtaking and plopped right onto his lap. "Anything new Ogar-kiva? You know, if you want, we could have a contest later to see who can break the most walls." The girl clapped her hands together, a playful smirk on her face as she nodded in agreement to her own idea. It sounded peachy, but it was up to Ogar really. If not, she would definitely be running off somewhere to go train by herself. Perhaps the Cove, perhaps the mountains. Ooh, the forest sounds nice too. "Well enough of us by any rate, what's up with everyone today! Hope you're all having just a brilliant time!" That same smirk reappeared, but her facial features showed cheer rather than malice. Though she was pulling their legs in a sense.

"Hey, King of Spades! You should come lean against this wall over here by us instead!" Once more, the fem flashed him a bright smile and a chuckle, sweeping her arm towards the wall next to the couch. "I for one think we should get more windows. Windows are good, right Ogar-kiva?"

Dmitri chuckled when the Ace of Clubs made her offer and shrugged. "Afraid not, I'm already leaning comfortably. Tis nothing personal." He nodded in response to having missed nothing, inclining his thanks for being caught up to speed to Rose.

"It seems that everyone here is enjoying themselves during their down time." He paused here."I'd like to talk to everyone about something that would seem to encompass us all."

That, and the drop in temperature announced the arrival of the Ace of Diamonds. He was a somber fellow, more than his fair share of it no doubt, although he never brought it up. He was right to the point, and he went from person to person, meeting each of their gazes. Dmitri met the Ace's gaze evenly, nodding his respect and attention. That was all, and he uncrossed his arms, letting them fall to his side. Other than that, he just waited to hear about what was so threatening towards everyone, or at least encompassed them all.

Lawrence gave a small wave back at Kintry as she entered and waved to him, then she went over and plopped into Ogars lap. He laughed silently to himself. He always thought Kintry had one of the most interesting personalities out of all the people that lived in the Spire. It was much easier to stay entertained when she was around and she never failed to get rid of his boredom. Not too long after Kintry entered the King of Spades came strolling in and leaned himself against the wall, engadging in a friendly conversation with Kintry about where he was leaning. Just then he heard the familiar voice of the 10 of spades as she entered the room, showing off her ability a little before taking a seat and bursting out that she was bored.

Unexpectedly Rose stood up and calmly, but clearly with an irritated pinch to her voice, told the girl to learn how to speak around the suits. He felt a tinge of pity for the 10 of spades, but then again he couldn't help but wonder if the girl would argue back. Of course, Ogar instantly spoke up in his loud, dinosaur voice telling the Queen of Spades to let her speak however she wants. Though, he did understand a little at why Rose made a comment. Her and the girl were both spades and Rose was superior to Meira by far.

Then suddenly the room when silent and the temperature dropped slightly. And he makes his grand entrance.. He thought to himself, his smile fading a little but not vanishing completely.

"I'd like to talk to everyone about something that would seem to encompass us all."

As Jace's eyes passed over his own, his smile went flat. Whatever it was he wanted to talk about wasn't going to be pointless, but he didn't feel like sitting around listening to the mans flat voice. He reached up and gently nudged his glasses back up against his face with his index finger, then let out a small yawn. He went back to the position he was in before with his elbows resting on the back of the couch, though this time both his hands were lazily sloped over the cushion. He looked over at Jace, his smile returning as he tilted his head slightly. "What's up Ice man?" He said casually.

Jace Beleren

Jace watched as Kintry decided to greet him with in an extremely loud and obnoxious way before she turned into a white cat and played around his legs before biting his leg. He watched as Kintry gracefully leaped into the air in an attempt to steal Meira's breakfast. Meira, deciding to react to the Ace's actions, tosses the muffin across the room before teleporting to retrieve it and finish the rest. As soon as Meira and Kintry finished fighting over the muffin, Jace decided to take action. Lifting his cape to reveal a simple waterskin, he pulls open the cork and, with a wave of his hand, lets the water run out and gather within his palm in the shape of a sphere. With a casual toss over his shoulder and a flick of his fingers, the ball flew towards Ogar's makeshift entrance. Expanding quickly, the ball formed a clear shape to cover the opening. Closing his hand into a fist, the shape froze into ice.

"Now that our room is relatively sealed from any eavesdroppers. Lawrence, I much prefer my name over 'Ice Man.' Glad to see you could join us Edei. Flynn please calm yourself. Meira a little respect please. Kintry, refrain from being so childish. Its unbecoming of an Ace. And Thank you Ogar." He bends over to pick up the white feline by the scruff on her neck from between his legs. "If you want a muffin so bad, Ogar made the kitchen easy access with the holes he so graciously created. But you can get that later once I have left." Jace said, before putting the feline back on the ground.

"As I was saying, our wonderful neighbors residing at the Cove are beginning to get a little rowdy and it would be unbecoming of us to ignore the crimes that are plaguing the wonderful citizens of the Hierarchy. I suggest a course of action to keep the residents of the Cove under control. Since we all have a say in how things work, I would like everyone's input on how to handle such a situation. And no Ogar, I will not let you run around the Cove, destroying everything that happens upon your rampant path."

Seeing the group enjoy the antics provided by Meira and Kintry stirred a long lost feeling within Jace's heart. It took him a few moments to realize what it was but, like the perfection-driven man he was, he knew that emotions could unravel a man's mind and forced the emotion back into the depths.

Dmitri chuckled at the various antics the various suits were getting themselves into thus far. Beyond that, he just waited for 'Ice Man' Jace to inform them of what was going on so far. He just waited as the man went about his various commentaries on what people were doing. He found Kintry's activities amusing most of the time, but if Jace had something to say, generally it was important probably. He frowned thoughtfully when Jace explained what was going on in the Cove, and their neighbors crimes increasing, whether in severity or quantity he had yet to determine. He thought out loud at this point, noting through inference that brute force would be unwise.

"Well Jace, if Ogar flattening the bloody place is out of the question, form teams. Either quarter the place out and form teams to deal with each section, or form shifts to act as a police force of sorts, special forces mind you. Save our muscular friend here for when we need to knock, and don't expect to take no for an answer. Just thinking out loud, so feel free to tear apart my idea as you see fit. Though I do have to wonder, how extreme has the rowdiness expanded to warrant serious thoughts on bringing them back under reign."

He was still thinking at this point, about whether whatever crimes were being committed this time, rowdiness included, that would be worth them having to bring the hammer of authority down onto the Cove. Something had to have happened, something really serious, to call for this being decided now. Cove was always rowdy, but they never bothered to seriously stomp the place. He was concerned it was more than just a little rowdy.

Lawrence laughed at the harmless bickering of the others in the room. It was rather interesting to see Kintry and Meira fight over the muffin. In the end, Meira came out as the champion. She is quite the stubborn girl. He thought to himself as he stood there with his elbows resting on the back of the couch and his usual smiling expression/ He found it even more interesting to watch Kintry rub against Jace's ankles like she really was just a kitten. It would figure she'd be the first to act so friendly towards the Ace of Diamonds. Soon the bustling settled down after Jace covered the area where supposedly their eavesdropper was peeking through and began to speaking, Lawrence making a little half-chuckle as Jace told him that he proffered his real name over Ice Man.

Another half-chuckle after hearing the comment about Ogar. He stayed silent as a few others added in their opinions on what they should do about the Cove being rowdy. It wasn't really a new situation. This happened often but he never expected Jace to actually car what was going on. After hearing Kintry's idea about the watcher he straightened up, placing one of his hands in his pajama pants pocket and slightly raising the other in he air. "I'll do it. Sounds like fun and besides it would be easy for me to get close and check it out. All I gotta do is change my appearance and I can do that easily with an illusion." He said, shrugging. "Course that's up to all you guys." He said with a friendly smile as he looked at Jace, though directed the offer towards everyone else in the room. Then he noticed the Queen of Hearts enter the room, looking like she was sorry for being late. "Oh, good morning Ellen." he said to the fellow Heart. "We were just discussing the recent happenings at the Cove is all. Did you sleep well?" he asked politely, figuring she had overslept.

Lawrence let out a sigh as Meira began to go on about the reason she was a 10. In a way he agreed with her, though he still wasn't very fond of her sarcastic tone. They hadn't always been so high up. Once they were all just simple little numbers as well. He didn't know about the other aces, but it had been more work than he bargained for to get into such a high rank. He would've stayed a jack if he hadn't been the first on the list to take over after the last Ace of Hearts died. It hadn't really been his intention but he took the offer anyway, seeing it as a free ticket to have the choice to do whatever he wanted. We were all numbers too at a time. He thought to himself, though didn't say anything out loud as he lifted his cup and let the soggy sugar and the last bit of coffee slip into his mouth, moving the sugar around on his tongue for a moment before swallowing it.

He let out a sigh and watched the girl vanish from the room after passing around what seemed like a few insults. "Geeze, she sure makes me feel like an old man. Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning." He mumbled then smiled as he turned his attention back to the other suits in the room. "Then again, apart from The Hulk and Cat Woman, you all look pretty grumpy today." He joked. The empty coffee cup floated away from his hand and he gently let it glide across to the room and placed it on the coffee table in front of the couch in the center of the room. "So, how bout we get this meeting over with." He said, then let his eyes focus on Jace. "What is it exactly that's got you all worked up huh?" he asked, his smile still on his face but his light green eyes were clearly serious.

Dmitri listened to everyone discuss the matter, and as some people went off to find food. That was seriously tempting, but he probably should hang around a bit so he didn't miss anything good. Ogar and his direct superior Pandora both agreed on storming in and smashing down with supreme force. He smiled and spoke up finally, having kept quiet for the most part. "While I am for stomping rebels as the next guy, I think subtle action will work better. Identify the malcontents, discredit them in the public eye, and once they are seen as villains, capture and execute them for crimes against all people. Cause terrorist actions, plant evidence that pins the blame on them. Without proper support from the public at large, a rebel movement is nothing more than extremists with no support or help what so ever. Just moving in and smashing them, and whatever is around them as collateral damage, only gives them reason to say 'Look, the Hierarchy is just brutish bullies!'. They don't need the ammo to throw against us. We get the publicity boost, avoid unnecessary levels of mindless violence, and deal with the problem at the same time."

Dmitri adjusted the way his hat sat on his head, before brushing his hands off and crossing his arms again. He had given his two cents in comparison in the direction the conversation seemed to be going so far. Whatever was decided, he would support of course, but he was offering alternatives. He had to wonder if anyone would listen that had a serious say in the matter.

Kintry's lips upturned in a very bright and cheerful smirk as the ten left. "Geeze, finally." She then turned to Jace, a pleading look in her eyes. "Can I pleaaaaseee kill her, pretty please Jace?" She then turned back to Ogar as he began to speak, her head nodding ever so softly. She then patted him reassuringly, that same cheerful smile on her face. "Ah, I agree with you Ogar, however, like as mentioned, there are some tactical errors. However! I'm sure it'll be easy to find you some smashing to do in any case!!" She giggled warmly, her whole demeanor screaming 'innocent yet devilishly sadistic child'. The girl tilted her head, her hair falling off of her shoulders and drifting lazily down, hanging in the air. She then shrugged, turning to Rose.

"Rose-Kiva, I'm sure that with the combined forces of the upper hierarchy, it would be so simple to wipe them all out! Please don't underestimate the power of the Aces!" The girl was obviously playful, having absolutely no crossness whatsoever. "I mean, I'd need a whole BLOODY lot of food, but still!" Kintry spread her arms out wide as she emphasized 'lot', her head tilting back for the same reason. She then shrugged, giggling ever so softly. She smiled at Dmitri, but a smirk soon entwined on her lips as well. She quickly got up, settled back on the couch and having discarded her now-empty marshmallow bag, she turned into an owl, swept down over to him and plucked his hat right off of his head by the rim and dip in the design. Landing a couple feet away from him, the girl returned back to normal, placing the hat on her own head with a sweet and all-too-innocent smile. She then flashed him a wink, sticking out her tongue. Her features practically screamed 'if you want your hat back, you'll have to come get it~'. Just for good measure, the Ace placed one hand on the top, making sure he couldn't just use telekinesis to grab it off. That was cheating.
