Setting
Connor was supposed to be out gathering supplies for the village, but he decided to make a quick stop here. Placing his palm on the tree between old pillars, he sighed, pondering the reason why this clan treated him so. "Mother...Father...Grandfather...if you can hear me, I'm safe. Safe but alone. This new clan treats me like an outcast. I have done nothing wrong other than survive that ordeal...though maybe the blood I spilled during our imprisonment is the reason. I will continue to live...for all of you." he says before taking his hand off the tree. He didn't know if any of his messages even reach his family, but it brought him some comfort. He looks at an old base of a pillar and decides to sit down, resting his back against it. A gentle breeze blew through the grove, causing his long hair and his fur to sway slightly.
"Ow...." She mumbled, not noticing that the other was looking at her now.
A few moments later, a Naturan from the village sees the two and yells "Tavarin! You were supposed to be out gathering supplies! If you want to prove yourself to us you will get to work without delay! Go, or I'll tell the chief you have been slacking off!" he shouts before going back. Connor scowled and looked to the direction of the northern plains "There is not much we can do about their attitude towards us...but it's the only home we have. Come on, we'll go together." he said, heading north to the plains.
When the male began to walk north, Fleur followed. He was different. Unlike all the other adults who would throw things at her, he actually helped her. She followed behind him, looking at her surroundings. They passed a river and other fruit trees until they came to the vacant bathing hole that the Naturan used.
Connor, even though most of his body was in the water, had visible scars. Bite and claw marks were seen on his shoulders, torso, and back. He earned these scars by surviving against his own people, serving as a permanent reminder of the people he had to kill just to keep living. Facing away from Fleur, Connor splashed some water on his face and through his hair.
For the past few days, he and others have noticed a strange structure high in the sky. At first it confused and amazed them, but after the first day of it not doing anything, they went back to their daily routine. Still, Connor couldn't help but wonder what could be up there. Of course, the identity of the structure was the human ship, the Ambition, but no one on Neryas' surface knew that yet.
Meanwhile, a scout reported to the village chief back in Vistara, telling him about Connor and Fleur. The chief, a bear Naturan in his 30s, scoffed "So the weaklings stay together, hm? Typical of them. My father used to let anyone join this clan if they were strong, but he was blind. Certain Naturan are only good for labor. The strong Naturan are the wolves, the bears, the lions! Weak races like the squirrels and the rabbits have no chance to be part of our perfect warrior clan, though they are a good source of labor. However...if those two are together, the older one will be distracted from his work because he is taking care of her. That won't do. When the come back...separate them. They are not to interact." he said. The scout bowed and awaited the return of the two.
As they walked inside, Connor stopped talking and kept aware of his surroundings. Fleur yelled when she was grabbed from behind and yanked from Connor, her small hand slipping out of his. The person holding her held her face and kept her from screaming again. Her long, wet black hair was all over and her ears were down in fear. The man holding Fleur spoke to Connor.
"You are to go on with your work and not have any contact with this one." He said, still holding Fleur. He pushed his bear like claw against the girl's face, drawing blood. "She'll be a good little rabbit and behave herself for the Chief."
( Roleplay has moved to Vistara )
Connor was amused by Niala's tablet. He picked up a few key terms from it before Fleur decided to lead them to the Grove. It was a little close to the village, but hopefully the humans being there would deter the other Naturan. Alex thought it would be a good idea to survey the surroundings, so he decided to come with. Passing by the old elven ruins, they eventually reached the tree Connor frequently visits. He smiles and places his palm upon it. "Thank you, everyone..." he said, referencing his family. He leaped up to the top of the trees and picked a few of the fruits before jumping back down. He gave one to each of the people there, even Julius. Going back to Niala and Alex, he looks back at the tablet Niala always carries around with her, wondering what else it could do besides help teach language.
Alex looked around at the ruins "Well now, this is interesting. Looks almost like...gothic architecture? It's all in ruins though." he said. He examines the lettering on some of the walls "We should get the linguists down here at some point to take pictures and sketches of these runes." he suggested.
One of them looked at Connor once Alex turned the frequency down "You are not allowed on these grounds. Leave, or I will end you." he ordered. Connor stood his ground "Your leader is not a true chief. He's a racist coward who preys on who he perceives to be weak to cover for his own weakness." he said, spitting on the ground in front of the warrior. Alex looked over Connor's shoulder "I think things are about to get heated." he said. The bear, curious of this newcomer, walks up to him, easily four inches and a hundred pounds larger than Alex "What is earless elf you have befriended?" he said, speaking over Alex. Alex looks up "You. You don't talk over me." Alex then full-force kicks the bear in the groin and delivered a right haymaker to the nose, which causes the bear to crumple to the ground in pain. Alex brushes his hands off "And that's how you fight a bear! That's what the vids said right?" he said, looking over his shoulder. His unit was frozen in shock, staring at Alex. "No? Well screw you my way's better." he said, proud of himself, puffing out his chest. "Anyone else?" he challenges. The bear looks up from the ground "You fight with no honor..." he manages to say over the waves of pain coursing through his body. Connor couldn't help but laugh "More honor than you. Now go home and tell your chieftain to be ready. He's next." he warns. Alex pats him on the head "I have no idea what you said, but I like it."
(If anyone wants to volunteer to play the chieftain, let me know through PM or chat. I don't want the fight to basically be me fighting myself. Kind of awkward.)
Nonetheless he walked deeper into the Grove and admired the elven structure of the place. This was where he felt the most connected to, although the Wood Elves were his family, and dear to him, he felt like something was missing and he could never shrug off that feeling. He despised the City Elves for abandoning him, but surely not all of them were that bad, he wasn't that quick to judge. Anyway, shrugging off these thoughts, he thought he might have just heard something strange and unfamiliar; the elf took in a deep breath, inhaling the scent around him. He knew this was where most Naturan went and that they were nearby, that wasn't an issue for him, the issue was he felt that there was some other smell in the air, something very unfamiliar, and Yelin was determined to find out the source of this smell and feeling.
