Davern Korosnos

"Fight the good fight, eh? Fight any fight, is a better policy."

0 · 855 views · located in Star Wars

a character in “Star Wars: A Galaxy In Flames”, as played by Shadow44499

Description

Name: Davern Korosnos

Species: Image Chiss-Mandalorian

Age: 47

Appearance: Davern is normally seen wearing his heavily modified Mandalorian War-Ranger armor. The armor is tan and red with a black visor and has multiple markings across it meaning many things, from his name written in Ancient Sith on the chest piece to the Mandalorian's symbol upon his shoulder. Blast marks lay across the armor here and there giving it a well-worn-for-tear look. Out of his armor his skin is a dark blue, hair silver-black, and eyes deep crimson red. The clarity of a Chiss in his prime, crossing his face is a light blue scar. His body is well-built, shoulders giving a gentle "v" shape with his chest and waist which is accented in his armoring. He has bulk but is now awkwardly brawn, giving him a well-balanced male appearance. He comes in height around 6'3" inches out of armor and 6'5" in and is nearly 190 lbs in weight.

Languages: Cheunh, Mando'a, Galactic basic, Huttese, and Ancient Sith (written).

Personality: A first glance Davern is a calm-collected and silent Warrior Mandalorian, however at heart is really a sadistic, power-driven, and nearly insane man. Believing in one path, the path of war and bloodshed. Over the years he has become cruel and biased, lashing out easily. His stubborn, fool-hardy, but intelligent and in control of his own emotions at most given points, adding onto his lethal battle born body. However, he does have a positive side to him, Davern is remarkably loyal and never double-crosses or leaves behind those he calls friends, to those he can also be kind and helpful to as well.

History: Davern was born aboard a Chiss trading vessel to his father and mother, the early years of his life were spent traveling and trading, he learned about his culture and even that about the Ancient Sith, considering his father was a blackmarket peddler in Sith artifacts and weaponry. The vessel was however attacked by Mandalorians in Mando space, all aboard but Davern were killed who was taken due to his age and raised among them. Remarkably Davern held no anger against his family's murderer and was indeed raised by said human, learning the ways of Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders of the terrorist organization known as Deathwatch. Davern spend many, many years traveling about the Galaxy after leaving Deathwatch to gain his own fame. His has fought every thing from Trandoshans (of many subspecies) and Wookie's, to security forces and military units and commandos, and even a Force-Witch or Acolyte or two. Davern has visited such planets as Hoth, Kashyyk, Korriban, Tython, Ossus, Dagobath, Yavin, and many others. Giving him experience of the Galaxy. His name is known on many planets for many things, including the assassination of a Hutt, which had him thrown into a Sarlaac pit... Davern improvised and escaped, killed his contractor who betrayed him and stole a small fortune. Davern bought a ship with said credits, but the ship was... taken. Now Davern is heading back to that desert abyss of the world to track his ship down and kill the bastards who had taken it from him.

Davern wears his War-Ranger armor at almost all times which is outfitted with internal shielding, enviro seals, one hour of oxygen, heat and cooling controls, a communications suite, on board basic computer system linked to a neural implant, and thermal vision mod when needed. Intergrated into the armor is stolen Imperial Shock-trooper jump packs, giving him the ability to jump for further distances, and a wrist-mounted grenade launcher and upon the other wrist a grappling wire capable of firing 60 feet with a 500lb breaking point.

For weapons he carries a Two custom made Heavy Repeater Pistols with ionized crossbred particle bolts, allowing minimum shield penetration and additional damage to electronic foes. Up close and personal he wields a two vibro-blades with kortosis weave, modded to engage enemies with heat-producing weapons and deflect blaster bolts. And several grenades for his launcher, three thermal, two incendiary, and one disruptor currently.

It is 500ABY, the war between the three armies has ravaged many planets. The Republic has the soldiers, the guys with the heart who fight for their family. The Confederacy has the numbers, able to create a massive army quickly. The Empire has the advanced technology and vehicles, ending their foes with powerful weapons. No one faction is truly winning, and its the civilians who are paying for it. Everyone is affected by it, including you. You find yourself walking in a field of tall grass, the sun high in the sky and the temperature to be very comfortable. There are children running around, playing their innocent games. Their parents are sitting in the shade of a nearby tree, sharing a laugh here and there as they watch their kids. Before you even have time to move, a shadow is cast over the whole field. The air becomes thicker. The children stop playing. They look at you. Their faces show confusion. You can see people approaching from behind the kids, they appear to be wearing armor and are too shadowed out to make out who they are. The men hold up rifles, and open fire on the kids. You try to move, but you are frozen in place. The parents scream and run to their children, only to be mowed down. As the men start to head toward you, you gain control of yourself once more and start to turn. You turn into another man, a man who looks more like a silhouette than a man. His eyes seem to be black holes, and the lack of feeling coursing through your body makes you sweat. You find that you cannot break eye contact, and as you manage to mutter out the word "noo..", he just smiles and takes a step forward. He draws what looks like a blade with unseen speed, and just as fast as he took it out, he lunges towards you. You know there is nothing you can do...

THUNK! You awake with a jump and bang your head on the wall. You realize that it was all just a dream, and that you are on a transport. You have been on for a while now, and the last stop before your destination is Tatooine. No one seems to have noticed you had hit your head, and in fact, they all look like they had just woken up. You don't really know anyone here, and you probably don't want to. The space in the transport is limited to the rectangular room you currently reside in. It contains a total of 30 seats around the room, with a bathroom in the back. The room itself isn't too small, but there is a good amount of people on. At least half of the seats are taken up. You lean back in your seat and realize that you've got a while until the next stop. Maybe you could find something to do in the mean time...

The black rectangle is the room, with chairs in rows facing the front. The small room in the bottom right corner of the room is the restroom...

Rift, wearing his brown cloak with his hood up, got up and walked over to the window in the back across from the bathroom. Lost in thought, he scratched at his beard. Adenn was hidden under his cloak, along with his DH-17. Through the glass, he was looking at Tatooine. The Dust Ball as the spacers called it. He had been there many times, mostly Mos Eisley. Once he landed, he planned on visiting some old friends, and then moving on to the next planet. It was a lonely life-style, but he didn't think himself worthy of better company. He had been searching for a purpose, for a place in the galaxy for quite some time, since he was 18, but his hope for belonging had withered away years ago.

The transport checked in with the space station, and began its course onto Tatooine.

Edar Xann groaned after smacking his helmet to the wall, before commenting "Blast it, it sure is a long ride to Tatooine." His voice was distorted through his helmet, he thought about getting himself a disguise, but his engorged pride would not let him, clad in his imperial scoutrooper armor instead. As the emperor's representative on this desolate galaxy, he had to go about his business stating one thing with his appearance, the emperor would reign supreme, as he always should have. He saw a cloaked figure stand up, Edar Xann slowly moved his hand to his blaster. After Rift Kilbaine got to the window, and began stargazing, Edar Xann relaxed.

He stood up and hailed all the travelers within the vehicle "Hail citizens, as you probably were thinking this is our last transport before reaching Tatooine, which is a sandy little hell, in case you were wondering." His heartbeat got faster, as these were quite a collection of dangerous looking individuals, he resumed his speaking "Tatooine is by no means affiliated to the empire, so be on your guard citizens." He coughed, before finishing "With that in mind, have a safe stay, all hail the emperor!" After a small pause he added "For it is by his glorious army that we have all made it through safely. We constantly patrol deep space, with an unmatched navy. The emperor provides, citizens, never forget that. That is all." With that, he cautiously took a sit, keeping his blaster pistol's holster opened, keeping a vigilant eye on the other passengers.

Davern's heavy boots thudding across the durasteel plating of the transport, his dusty brown cloak flowing behind him as he wandered from near the front of the ship back to near the airlock so when they landed, he'd be the first offboard. The room of the transport filled with a colorful cast of people and characters, one wearing some kind of Imperial Armor and the other, the other some kind, colored insect spawn? The Chiss gave a grunt and sat down waiting quietly, or trying to atleast, the Mandalorian Symbol on his armor clearer than day on shoulder and Deathwatch sigil on the other, giving a clear line of example of who he was and his pride in that. He held his shoulders high and every motion he took was confident and strong, the essence of a veteran warrior.

"With that in mind, have a safe stay, all hail the emperor! ... "For it is by his glorious army that we have all made it through safely. We constantly patrol deep space, with an unmatched navy. The emperor provides, citizens, never forget that. That is all." Never a moments peace in this Galaxy it seemed, that was a good thing, he liked conflict. "The Imperial Navy... Is a rag tag collection of rats, who pick up blasters, shoot at holograms and believe they are better than anything in the Galaxy. The only reason they survive this war is that they hide behind three tons of durasteel on those shambles they call dreadnoughts." With that he grinned under his helmet, his accent deeply mixed between that of a little known species and a Mandalorian's.

Feeling confident that he had bested the Imperial in a game of words for now he turned and grinned again under his Mandalorian Iron Helmet as he watched the Bearded Human turn to speak to the oddly colored creature. "And you... If you wanted water... You should have brought it yourself... What are you some kind of rainbow burned Killik, did you lose your hive my friend, I feel so sorry for you." Every word that came from his mouth had a cruel and mocking undertone, a purposeful mannerism to it all.

His helmeted eyes drifted over to a familiar armor configuration, another Mandalorian... "You there.... Why are you here, where are you from?" His voice instantly questioning as opposed to hateful and sardonic. His race completely hidden under his helmet and armor, looking like your everyday Mandalorian Merc, however, under his helm, his crimson eyes were studying the female for a time, examining her for signs of allegiance. Clearly she was not a member of Deathwatch, but maybe she wouldn't be hostile against the extremist cult most Mandalorians knew them as, though really they were just new Crusaders.

"The Imperial Navy... Is a rag tag collection of rats, who pick up blasters, shoot at holograms and believe they are better than anything in the Galaxy. The only reason they survive this war is that they hide behind three tons of durasteel on those shambles they call dreadnoughts." Edar felt a sting to those words. He quickly shifted his eyes to the offender, who then continued "And you... If you wanted water... You should have brought it yourself... What are you some kind of rainbow burned Killik, did you lose your hive my friend, I feel so sorry for you." Edar pretended not to hear a word.

He discreetly slithered his left hand right above his leather holster, silently twitching his finger over the safety cord, it tensely but quietly opened, with a small popping sound. The mandalorian wretch had dared to raise his voice against the glorious empire, the protectors and masters of the galaxy, they who were destined to once more stride the stars without challenge. His mouth wet, he swallowed. Siting straight on his chair, he tensed his legs, and slowly but steadily raised them and dragged them near his point of balance one at a time.

"You brought this on yourself lad." he whispered to himself, his concern was entirely a lie though, for he was stirring with excitement. Edar Xann longed for the moment when the blaster touches the flesh of an enemy, when the smell of charred meat fills a place within seconds, when a hated enemy of the empire laid dead. He reminisced to the past, the visage of a gritty starport in a backwater planet came to mind. A member of the ship crew thought he looked tough being a smartass to a sovereign servant of the empire "Dude, like, what you guys even wear armor for, I mean, you die on the first shot anyway, is it to make sure you don't survive the blast?" was what he had said, before snickering. He thought he was safe from the emperor's holy hand, and he was wrong, he may have come to realize when his laughter was interrupted by a very hot jolt to the gut, the melodious sound of a blaster bolt in the air.

Edar Xann cracked a smile, not visible under his helmet, he enjoyed the memories that his job brought to him, and if in doing so the emperor's will was done, then he could call that day a success. Edar Xann quietly slithered his blaster in a firing position while the Mandalorian was distracted scanning his counterpart Mandalorian, to Edar, it seemed he was simply ogling her. "Victory for the empire." he quietly whispered to himself, before squeezing the trigger of his pistol. A red screeching blaster bolt exiting his pistol, rapidly heading for the Mandalorian traitor.

Rift was gazing into space when he heard something approaching, and saw the reflection in the window. His right hand gripped the handle of Adenn, and he continued looking at the Dust Ball of a planet, pretending not to notice. Once the creature stopped behind him, he tightened his grip on Adenn.

"Pardon me human one, but could this Koda'Rai be spared some water? This one understands he may be asking for much, but it is essential for this one to have water for sustenance."

Rift's grip on Adenn lightened. Calm down Rift, no one is going to try and attack you on this ship. God, I can't shake this feeling that something bad is going to happen. He started to turn to face him. Before he could even open his mouth, a mandalorian interrupted.

"And you... If you wanted water... You should have brought it yourself... What are you some kind of rainbow burned Killik, did you lose your hive my friend, I feel so sorry for you." With that, he turned and walked away towards...another mandalorian. Funny thing is, he started harassing the other mandalorian too.

"What the hell was that?" Mandalorians are a disgrace to the galaxy. I've yet to see one worth the air they breathe. He looked back to the alien who asked him for water. "I'm sorry about that, those mandalorians aren't the friendliest around." He put his hand out, a slight scowl still on his face after looking at the mandalorian. "I'm Rift. Follow me, I'll show you how to get water whenever you need it, without asking." He reached into his cloak and grabbed a small wooden cup. He then started to head for the restroom, when he heard the sound of a blaster bolt...

Shikle rubbed his head a bit as he had a headache. The ship was going to Tatooine, the desert paradise home to the Hutts. If somebody wanted anything illegal or a job they would simply need to go to that planet. The only true dangers were in the deserts where the risk outside the cities, where attacks by the Tuskan Raiders could prove to be...deadly. Then what looked like an Imperial scout stood up and went on about some rubbish on how the Imperial Fleet were the ones to thank for the safe passage. They had as much fault for shooting down any civilian ship a "war zone" as any of the other factions. He would normally make a sly remark but stormtroopers in general were not very bright so it would be best not to make a fuss about it.

Early on during the voyage Shikle had planted one of his explosives within the ship. The explosive, though not causing any actual damage or casualties, would make enough of a panicked crowd that would allow him to deal with his target with ease. The bomb would be detonated just before they land. He glanced his target from the corner of his eye. She was reading at the moment. He smiled at how safe she seemed to think she was. When the ship lands we would show her how wrong she was. Dead wrong. Then he heard a blast go off and he immediately pulled out his pistol.

Ati's eyes had opened, glaring up at the overhead as the last images of a dream already half-forgotten faded from immediate memory. A far more pressing concern was the crick in her back, drilling down into her legs and up into her neck. Once again, the young Mando'ad found herself wishing irritably for her own damned starship. One with a proper bunk.

She stood from her seat gingerly, stretching an arm across the armored plate of her chest with a pop and a faint grunt. Some Imperial was going on about his glorious Empire. Ati let him. It wasnt her job to dissuade others of their dillusions. Apparently someone else felt differently, as Davern all but openly challenged him, and then an alien, to open combat.

When he turned his attention to her, she finally looked back at him. Of course she'd been aware of the other Mandalorian on the flight. She'd kept to her own privacy, and he to his, but now that he was standing she could properly see the insignia etched into his worn armor. The Deathwatch emblem made her jaw tighten, and a reflexive, invisible smile snapped onto her face beneath the T-visor.

Her posture became one of easy mockery, and her voice hailed him with a cheerful, impudent aire, "Udesii, burc'ya." Burc'ya, not Vod. Not uncommon, among strangers, but the emphasis she put on it made it all but an insult, and it would be clear enough why. Her armor, well cared-for but lacking the years of his own, bore the insignia of the Protectors. As close to a standing military as the Mandalore systems had, they were also the 'winning' faction in that long ago civil war that'd seen his Deathwatch scattered and exiled.

Heeping insult upon insult, she turned her back on him to gather her equipment. He suddenly had a bigger problem as the Imperial he'd baited took his temper a step beyond. At the sound of a shot, Ati dropped to a knee and freed her own rifle from its strappings. But she doesnt raise it, just her voice.

"You want to put a hole in the hull, di'kut?!" She barks angrily at the trooper, "What a shining example of Imperial discipline you are."

With any luck, the chiding might make it through his thick skull and he would save his murdering for the landing pad.

"And you... If you wanted water... You should have brought it yourself... What are you some kind of rainbow burned Killik, did you lose your hive my friend, I feel so sorry for you."One of the armored people addressed him in disdain, so he decided to correct the misunderstanding, but the human he'd approached spoke first.

"I'm sorry about that, those Mandalorians aren't the friendliest around." The man had a scowl on his face but continued speaking, "I'm Rift. Follow me, I'll show you how to get water whenever you need it, without asking."

Koda'Rai was intrigued by this, usually he drank from water tanks when they were just beginning to purify it after recycling. A method like what this Rift spoke of would be invaluable. "This one is known as Koda'Rai, Human Rift receives its utmost thanks." The translator made conversations such as this a bit awkward but his message should come across clear enough. At that moment a blaster went off, the reflection showed it was aimed at the Mandalore, and a another took a knee.

"You want to put a hole in the hull, di'kut?! What a shining example of Imperial discipline you are." A tone he'd learn to recognize as female rang out. Koda'Rai was caught in a complex, faith mandated all pilgrims through the stars be protected. But he had no way to interfere with the blaster shot, his exoskeleton was as good as armor but he couldn't get there in time. At that moment, he felt a burning sensation at the back of his skull and the sound of blaster bullet hitting the tip of his stun stick was heard. It's weight was also absent from his back...but how did his stick get there in time? A miracle from Those from Beyond the Veil perhaps? At any rate, the situation may now be diffused.

"Among Koda'Rai's people, the safety of pilgrims among the star is a divine mandate and must take place above all else." He spoke as walking to get his stun stick, the translator making him sound far calmer than he actually was. "Mandalore of before, this one would like to express that it is mammal and not of the Killik species." His swift yet graceful strides took him to his staff, which was undamaged and he quickly returned it to his back.

"Beyond that, this one comes from a peaceful people and would like to implore that others also understand that waste of war. After all, life is not something to be spent and wasted for worldly desires such as power. Lastly, this one also wishes to thank Those from Beyond the Veil for intervening and choosing this one's staff to protect what peace is aboard this vessel."

He went through the symbolic gestures for addressing the holy ones as he spoke. With that he turned to Rift, "Human Rift, before the occurrence of the Divine Ones miracle you were showing this one how to get water. The continuation of that action would be most appreciated."

Edar Xann closed his eyes as soon as the blinding red light was blasted from his pistol, with the beautiful shriek like sound he had so come to love. He then heard a female mandalorian speak out "You want to put a hole in the hull, di'kut?! What a shining example of Imperial discipline you are." just as he closed his eyes, and with his sight blackened, he paid heed to the melodious sound of the bolt advancing, then the very loud exploding sound it made when it touched what Edar Xann was sure would be the male mandalorian before the female mandalorian was even done talking, he could not feel the burning heat of the detonation within his armor, but his armor did get slightly warmer, he imagined the explosion melting the mandalorian's armor and cooking his guts on the spot.

"Bam!" he exclaimed joyfully, getting to his feet in a leap, clearly expecting to see the mandalorian with a hole in his belly. A large black insect like chitinous creature was peacefully walking towards the other end of the ship instead, and of course, the mandalorian was still very much intact. He bat his eyelids in confusion three times, not saying a word. He sighed in frustration "By the emperor, I wanted to put a hole in that mando's guts not the hull. Di'kut? What did you just call me?" He had no idea of whether he had been insulted or not, after blinking twice in confusion, he heard the strange insect like creature say "Among Koda'Rai's people, the safety of pilgrims among the star is a divine mandate and must take place above all else." he blushed in embarrassment within his helmet, he had missed a shot, and in the most embarrassing way possible, intercepted. Feeling the rage burning in his face, he abruptly reached out to his back to brandish his main gun, an automatic sniper rifle.

He blurted out "If at first you don't succeed! Out of my way quadruped, this is not meant for you!" And that's when the large insect like being got in his way for the second time, and picked up his surprisingly intact staff.

Edar had lost all his patience, and was frankly furious at the peaceful walker chastising him "Fine, in the name of the emperor I send you to meet 'those beyond the veil'." Tapping into the future to pull off an accurate shot, his vision then revealed himself being fried at point blank range by a gray skinned alien who had silently sneaked behind him. He dropped his rifle to the ground and slowly but steadily raised his hands in surrender, without saying a word, obviously shaken at the vision he had witnessed of his own death in the close future. "While I can respect your loyalties I cannot respect your mental abilities. You draw a blaster on a ship going to the criminal capital of the galaxy as if no one else is holding something. While it may or may not be true that Imperial ships kept slavers from capturing our vessel it is a fact that the Empire holds no grasp on Tatooine so you can expect no allies once we land. But be my guest, pull that trigger again." slowly said the menacing voice behind him. Edar Xann was still in silent surrender, much shame was his today.

"Quadruped? Imperial soldier, this one wishes to make a correction. Koda'Rai is a biped, as can be seen, it walks on two legs not four." He slammed his tail on the ground a bit in frustration at the notion. He then turned to the humanoid that had gotten the soldier to drop his gun.

"This one offers its gratitude for encouraging a ceasefire, a blaster shot would have been most painful- lethal if care was not taken. Furthermore, this one also expresses admiration to the devotion of the Imperial Soldier but implores he tempers his actions." With that he turned to address the two in armor, the one with a gun and the one that had been saved. His tail reaching up for his staff and curling around it should he need to draw it.

"Armored Female and Rescued Mandalorian, this one entreats that firearms be returned to their holsters. Those from Beyond the Veil have acted once to preserve peace, and this one would prefer to avoid having to act after their warning." If his memory served, the Monks would repeatedly mention that the Stun Stick seemed to have no difficulty bypassing the armor of those outside the Rift. He'd rather avoid discovering the truth of their words but after divine will had been manifested, he could not just simply preach. The bland metal voice of the translator couldn't express anything like a threat but under the current condition, his meaning aught to be clear.

Well. At least the trooper had the capacity to realize when he was outnumbered, outgunned, and out-maneuvered. As he lowered his weapon, Ati stood up, reasonably assured, now, that there wouldnt be a firefight breaking out. Not even on the rock and blasters were being waved. Tattooine certainly lived up to its reputation...

She's aware that Koda starts speaking to her, in its translator monotone, and takes a moment to observe the big alien. Racking the breadth of her admittedly limited experience in the wider galaxy, she fails to come up with any name to attatch to his species. Or anything like him, for that matter. His size and natural armor was certainly impressive. If his speed throwing that stunstick was any indication, all that zen serenity slag was a cover.

Watching him a moment longer gives the slightly unsettling impression that she was sizing him up. Which she was. But then she laughs with suprising ease, as if they hadnt all been on the verge of spilling blood, and flips the rifle over her shoulder and into the magnetic grip beside her pack.

"Gar serim." The language isnt Basic, of course, but it's clear she agrees with him all the same, a smile audible in her voice if not visible behind the black visor.

Her equipment recovered and the confrontation winding down, she picks a spot near that chair to settle against the wall, content to resume the quiet observation she'd maintained for the flight up until this point. So far, this had been a grand start to her little adventure away from home. Nothing to write about, but certainly not dull.

A few more moments of flight later sees you in the planet's atmosphere, the beautiful sights of the... Sand. The hum of the engine cuts out quite suddenly, for a moment the feeling of zero gravity hits, and the ship begins to fall at a very sharp angle towards the giant dust ball. At first the passengers don't realize whats happening. Confusion sets in, and panic can be felt starting in the air. What breaks the silence and commences the panic, is one poor fool exclaiming "The Ship Is Falling!". The screaming starts, and the panic sets in. Those near the walls and windows start banging and clawing them.

The ship continues to fall, the strain on the frame of the ship causes numerous creeks and groans, as though it is being pulled apart. Seconds feel like hours. Chaos has completely taken over the ship, with people being trampled. Suddenly, the lights flash back on, and the ship starts to pull up. Everyone seems to breathe a sigh of relief. The ride seems to smooth out. Everyone is quiet. A strange energy is felt in the air, and then the ship drops one last time.

The last thing you see before complete darkness, is durasteel.

The impact is devastating. The ship slams into the ground. The stern flips over the bow, then bow over the stern, and this process repeats 2 more times. On the third roll, the bow is sent flying forward, while the stern just slides forward for a little bit. Once the bow stops flipping, it slides just like the stern. The ship, being ripped in half, comes to a stop. The engines, luckily enough, had not exploded. Everyone who was in the front of the ship is dead; crushed, cut, and ripped apart. Anyone from the back is now cut up, bruised, and bears many broken bones. Silence encompasses the scene, seemingly the whole desert.

Blood covers the bow, and scatters the stern. Sand begins to blow on the remains, and for the longest amount of time, there is no motion from the ship and its passengers.

It is now, that you begin to awaken. While you were out, you had a dream, a nightmare, that bears an awful resemblance to a dream you had not too long ago...

Over the sands of the Dune Sea, two figures sped along there way, one being the Bounty Hunter droid, IG-136, the other being the desperate Zannin Korrik, who was weaving his way through the blaster bolts. The Zabrak's speeder spat out smoke and fire, showing the wounds gained from the droids hand canon. The two raced through the desert in a deadly game of cat and mouse, far more deadly for one than the other. Actually, it probably wasn't really that deadly for the droid at all. The bounty placed on the Zabrak's head wasn't one earned for violence or savvy cunning, it was earned from cheating a Hutt in a speeder race. The man wasn't some hardened villain who traversed the galaxy spreading terror to all, he was just some poor, frightened kid who figured out how to hide an illegal auxiliary drive in his bike. And he was going to suffer an unbelievably terrible fate for it, for IG-136 wasn't going to kill him. The bounty was nearly three times higher for a live capture, and the droid's programming demanded that it strive for the highest reward.

Finally, the heavy blaster scored a fatal hit on Zannin's speeder, causing it's hover field to fluctuate. In a panic, he used his auxiliary boosters to try and fly up a dune, only to have his hover field give out entirely near the crest. The front of the craft dig deep into the sand, catapulting it's pilot through the air with a rather impressive launch. The Zabrak slammed and rolled down a neighboring dune, cushioning his fall from nearly eighty feet from his launching point. Zannin limped away with as much vigor as he could muster, as the droid arrived on his speeder. Droids do not feel fatigue, nor exhaustion, nor any sort of discomfort from heat. This is well known. IG-136 would lose absolutely nothing from running after his target, and the Zabrak was still not worth the added effort. IG only strode comfortably, calmly, even arrogantly, following it's mark to his inevitable end. Until his audio receptors picked up on something...... intriguing.

A distant sound, like a roaring Krayt Dragon. The sound permeated the air, as a large transport plummeted down to the planet's surface. The large craft cartwheeled several times, something which anything that massive should not be able to do. Sure enough, the entire thing tore in half from it's own mass. The bow was flung through the air from an incalculable amount of centripetal force, and IG's internal computer began doing a little math from it's trajectory and was able to estimate where the eighty million ton chunk of steel would land. And who it would land on.

"Exclamation: .............Fuck."

The bow of the ship landed squire on Zannin, it's enormous mass obliterating any trace that the Zabrak ever existed. A 300,000 credit bounty was now made impossible to collect on. The ship slid on it's belly, creating a tidal wave of sand. It skid less than 8 feet from IG-136, who was more focused on how to show proof of death when there were now zero traces of organic remains. By the time the droid turned his attention to the ship, it had lost all momentum. Of course, IG was contemplating extreme violence. He quickly walked over to the still steaming hull, crunching over the glassed sand. The ends of his robe began to char and burn as he stepped right up to the half-a-transport, giving several rapid knocks before addressing it's occupants. Having no concern of their well-being.

Chek awoke groaning, blood was dripping from a cut on his forehead and now he had yet another nightmare about a massacre. Why do I keep having these dreams? He though to himself. As of now he had been glad he was strapped in. He looked around the ship, he tried to recall what had happened before the crash. There had seemed to have been some sort of disagreement was this the cause of the crash? He was too dazed to be sure.

Then he heard the Voice. Attention All Moronic Meatbag Occupants Of This Vessel! Would You All Please Step Out Single File In An Orderly Fashion.... So That I May Extract My Bloody Vengeance By Skinning All Of You Alive? If anything he wondered if it was even a remotely good idea to be leaving the vessel but then decided it would probably be better to face what ever is out there rather than risk staying here and waiting for the possible explosion of what ever remained in the fuel tank.

Unbuckling himself he got up and tested his feet. He seemed to walk alright for being in a crash his head still pounding and ignoring the spread out corpses he walked across the ship pulling his black cloak tight around him until he found the exit he looked at the access panel and realized it required a code. Peeling off the outer hatch he reached in and tried to rewire the thing. "Come on...come on." He mumbled as he fumbled with the wires. It was clear Chek had a concussion but it was not know to him as he had completely forgotten about the Hole in the ship.

Koda'Rai wordlessly followed Rift to the bathroom and watched as he filled the cup for a drink. He was completely caught of guard when he was given the cup itself.

"Many thanks and blessings upon Human Rift, Koda'Rai gratefully accepts this means of getting water," he spoke through his translator, before taking it off to drink, his seven green tongues and toothless mouth revealed.. He eagerly began filling the container and quickly drinking water, he could simply empty the cup in his mouth without it ever touching his lips. He'd gotten to about the sixth cup when the ship went out of control. By then Rift had left him alone, Koda'Rai had lost track of the human in his stockpiling of fluids.

He quickly grabbed the cup, it wouldn't do to waste a gift and left the bathroom. With the ship in open free fall, most were preparing for impact and he joined them in the action, and shut his eyes to protect them. Impact happened soon after, the sand doing a surprisingly good job of absorbing the shock, with that many more people survived than would otherwise be possible. Even his equipment was surprisingly intact, wooden cup included. He put the translator back on so he could communicate with other survivors.

"This one inquires about the circumstances of its fellow passengers," the translator rang out in its metallic tones. Even though the volume wasn't loud, the voice would still carry and he'd hopefully get answers. He began securing his translator as well to free up his hands and tail for other work before he spoke so he was able to rise up rather swiftly. He was in pain for sure, but fortune had kept the crash relatively safe and damage relatively small for him. That being said, he still had to use his Stun Stick as a staff to walk properly. His head was still ringing from impact and his footing was far from steady, there may have been more damage from the crash than he expected. As it was, he had no way of physically examining himself for injuries, effectively having him go by what his numbed senses told him.

He then heard a voice echo through out the crash,"Addressment: Attention All Moronic Meatbag Occupants Of This Vessel! Request: Would You All Please Step Out Single File In An Orderly Fashion.... So That I May Extract My Bloody Vengeance By Skinning All Of You Alive?!"

The Mandalorian was standing up and drawing his pistol, prepared to finish the Imperial off while he was unarmed. It was part of his code at this port, the Imperial had engaged, meaning it was time to fight. However, bad luck seemed to strike before Davern could. The transport suddenly pivoted and the Mandalorian fell side ways and slipped down the ship, screams and shots filled the air about him and the sound of the transport being torn asunder by the sudden motion of it falling. Davern tried to stand again, the floor shaking below his feet. He turned his head... Shit... he felt a heavy thump against his chest piece, a large char slamming him back into the hull and the gravity forced him throw a window nearby with his weight added into the mix.

Soon he flying through the air, his arms flailing wildly above him and legs below. He could feel the pressure of the air underneath him as freefell. Panic was setting in, but training and instinct was on his side, he was sliding into position catching himself to use his thrusters. Regaining control of his mind he used his implant, activating the thruster packs within his armor. The air under him stabilized but it did little good. The packs soon overheated and he was back to free fall. It was almost exhilarating, the air rushing about, everything slow, and then suddenly a heavy thud. He landed in a blast of sand and heat, his chest and body hitting first, the armor cushioning but by no means stopping the impact. Intense pain rushed through him and he reached to claw at the sand feebly before fading in unconsciousness.

He awoke in a cough fit a bit later, head pounding within his helmet. His eyes were blurred and nerves rattled. He had indeed dropped from orbit before, but that was in a pod. This was much more painful, but he was both Chiss and Mandalorian, a enduring mix. He gathered himself a second before pulling himself to his feet. The pain was excruciating but his training had prepared him for that. With a groan he stood straight and began to scan the horizon, locating the ship. He soon began shambling toward it. His body screaming its protest with every movement, but as he forced it to work, the more it submitted to him before he had control.

He arrived upon the ship crash, a large skid mark trailing to it, debris here and there, a body now and then. It was chaos, not as bad as he had seen in his life bit was still chaos. He moved toward the intact section of the ship when he spotted something... A droid, a heavily armed one. It was instinct to dive behind cover his eyes examining the metal construct through his visor. Whatever it was, it was impeding him, but he'd bid his time. And then he heard ans saw a flash of energy.

The second Mandalorian wasnt far behind him, as far as regaining control. For the second time today, Ati awoke chasing the fragments of nightmare from her head, glaring through her visor, and contemplating sharp pains. The difference being that, this time, the nightmare screams had been the screams of the passengers in the falling ship. Her visor was spiderwebbed from absorbing an impact from the flying durasteel plate that'd put her lights out. And the pain was distinctly sharper than a crick in the neck.

"This one inquires about the circumstances of its fellow passengers," Monotone translator and the movement of something big.

"Ru jate'shya. It's only pain." Ati grunts the reply as Koda picks his way among the corpses and those who had yet to stir themselves. She kicks an uprooted beam from her leg, armor scraping as she hauls herself out of the tangle. The Beskar'gam sported a few new abraded spots of paint, besides the damaged visor, but it'd saved her life. Unfortunately, the Iron couldnt cover everything. She clasps her forearm tightly to her chest, knowing intimately that her left elbow had been twisted in the wrong direction during the violence of the crash. Broken, painful.

But not her most pressing concern, and with another grating curse, she banishes the injury into a far corner of her awareness until she has the luxury of tending to it, keeping it tucked close. Blasterfire rang in the desert outside, and Ati vaguely remembers a shouting voice voicing a threat as she came to. The cloaked man who'd escorted the alien had eyes on the gaping hole that lead out into the bright desert day. No sign of the Deathwatch. Either he'd been ejected or climbed out on his own power. And the Imperial? Ati watches him slip through one of the still-functioning blast doors.

"And I used to wonder why they hired us to fight their wars..." She murmurs vaguely in the alien's direction with a wry snort, even as she draws her pistol into her good hand and casts a long look at the golden shafts of light coming through the hull breach where the threat and the replying shot had emanated from.

"What's the situation?" She asks Koda'rai. Ready to fight, always, as if her left arm wasn't currently held tight to her side, but Ati Jendrassi was not an idiot. She also wanted knowledge.

Mom warned her there'd be days like today.

Warnings flashed over IG-136's receptors as one of them picked up the sniper taking aim. The advantage to having only a few true blind spots. The weapon was likely either a particle beam or disruptor, meaning difficult to dodge. The calculated choice was overridden by it's self preservation, sacrificing one of it's vibroswords to absorb the blast, disintegrating as soon as it left it's hand. This had been unexpected. Disruptor weapons on a civilian transport. There was no time, as it seamed one of the meatbags did as told and exited the vehicle, only the swing a vibrosword at it's face. A much slower weapon, easier to dodge, and IG did so gracefully.

Bending backwards at the knees, using it's left hand to maintain stability, the blade missed it's mark by a foot. It's right hand quickly took aim at the sniper, firing several Taze Darts at the assassin. Hopefully a well-fried nervous system would keep it occupied for a while. But there was still the matter of the blade-wielder. Using it's left hand as it's only support, it raised it's legs from the ground and began rotating at the waste, quickly revving up to nearly one hundred rpms. The rotating of it's arm swung the blunt, windmill of pain back around into the face of the human, sprawling him onto the sand. Surprisingly, the fight in this one was admirable and he wasted no time retrieving his blade and getting to his feet.

Audio receptors indicated movement from inside the craft. All with better cover than the droid possessed. A secondary warning alerted it to the presence of another possible assailant behind it. The droid leaped up the side of the ship, gaining both cover and the higher ground, as it began working out it's next actions. Once again, it's audio receptors indicated more movement, but this was the crunching of sand as apposed to the clanking of boots on metal. One of them was attempting to flee. Sure enough, one in imperial armor sprinted over the dunes, even though there was little to nowhere for him to go.

"Clarification: I did not say their would be exceptions to the meatbag fatalities."

With that, a bolas flew from it's arm. However, it had unexpected results. The imperial tripped or stumbled for a moment right before the bolas made contact, causing it to only bind around one of his legs. Instead of detaining him, it now merely served as a weighted annoyance. Irritating, IG would have to retrieve both the imperial and the bolas later. For now there was still the matter of-

"Well? Where is my payment? Why haven't you caught Zannin yet?"

"And why is it this time?"

"Honest Truth: Because there appears to be an eighty ton transport vessel on top of him, Master."

"Say What?! How could you screw this up?!"

"Statement: Fortune telling is not in my list of protocols, Master. I can not predict when random space junk will fall from the sky and by happenstance land on a Zabrak. Let alone that Zabrak."

"You worthless piece of scrap, that's twice now you've lost one!"

"Clarification: The last one, like this one, was not my fault, Master. The Rodian's compatriots abandoned their rescue attempt without first informing their companion. He opened that Air-Lock all on his own, Master."

Spying an opportunity at retaliation, IG pounced at the human, blaster in one hand and sword in the other. All of it's secondary photo receptors were keeping watch for movement, responding with blaster fire at all those in the ship. This was a terrible waste of ammo, but it kept there heads down. IG re-worked it's footing to place the human between it and any snipers, it's blade spinning like a saw in it's rotating hand.

"Why do I keep hearing blaster fire? I thought you said the Zabrak was dead?"

"Clarification: I did. Statement: A new issue has arose, Master."

Another warning flared up as a secondary assailant attacked from behind with two blades. The droid's joints folded up as it rolled like a ball to the side, nearly causing the two to slice each other in half. The issues were starting to pile up, but the only lethal one was the possible disruptor rifle that was still in effect as a major threat. Keeping track of the wreckage for gunners, and now three different vibroswords, the threat rating of this situation was escalating. With three means of attack, the blade-wielding foes could hold IG in place long enough for the other to gain a shot. That was not acceptable. Spinning at the waste like a top, the droid created enough usable space to exit this confrontation. Using it's magnetized feet and enhanced leaping capability, it traversed the side of the ship, firing several more bolts at the passengers inside. For a brief moment, it took note of all those it could see. Noting the two in Mandalorian armor, two humans, one imperial, one human-looking alien with the disruptor, and.....

Now there was the issue of defusing a situation it may or may not have started.

The droid lowered himself into a covered position, able to easily expose it's selected weapon for this instance.

"Addressment: Would the armored meatbag Koda'Rai happen to be present in this craft? Dictation: Please have your entourage lower their weapons. Specifically the one with the disruptor weapon."

IG swung it's right leg into view, using the photoreceptor in it's knee to spot the sniper in question. Thanks to the crash, many f the vessels contents spilled out onto the sand, leaving little cover inside. With the missile already armed to fire, the droid made his point clear.

"Explanation: It is my current objective to escort the assigned Insect Thingy Koda'Rai until the designated safe destination has been reached. Clarification: However, my protocols dictate an extreme disliking to the possibility of being demolecularized. Please place the disruption rifle on the ground, hostile meatbag sniper."

When Rift swung around the corner, the droid took an action that was beyond Rift's expectations. It went back on its hands and swung its feet around like a windmill, sending Rift up into the air a few inches and then down into the sand. Adenn fell right next to him, laying flat on the sand. He let out a grunt when he landed, the impact getting him right in the ribs. But he wasn't going down that easy. "Alright you pile of scrap metal, lets try this again." He rolled back a little, bringing his bent legs up, and then sprung to his feet. He put his foot under Adenn's handle and kicked it up in one fluid movement, catching it on the way up. "Hhhheerraah!", Rift charged forward, blade in front of him and ready to strike and block. Just as Adenn was about to meet metal, the droid leaped up and onto the side of the transport. Son of a bitch, what the hell kind of droid is that? The droid hung onto the side, and had some sort of transmission come through.

Rift looked into the ship to see what was going on, and when he turned back, the droid was mid-air, lunging at him. Reflex forced him to stand his ground and not give any. Unfortunately, that mindset doesn't work too well with a giant, angry death machine, as when the droid reached Rift, their vibroswords clashed, and Rift was forced to the ground once more. Now, their blades were locked and the droid was standing over Rift, shooting at the ship with one hand and clashing Adenn with the other. Rift was strong enough to force the blade to the side as he stood up, especially since the droid was using only one arm. As he stood up, he pulled Adenn back and swung from over his left shoulder, intending to pull it back before making contact and thrusting the blade for the red circle on its chest. The plan seemed to work when the droid at first took the bait, but as he brought his blade back a little for the thrust, the droid side stepped and made a swing for his neck. Ducking the swing(which is one of the reasons he lost all of his hair before), Rift made a swing for the leg join while being low. The droid, almost seeming to be picking up the pace now, lifted its leg above the blade and kicked him square in the nose. Rift fell back and rolled back to his feet instantly, rubbing his nose with his arm when he got to his feet. Once more he charged the droid, swinging with great speed where ever he saw an opening. Unfortunately for Rift, the droid was fast. Swing after swing was parried, and the droid started to move at almost blurry speeds. After every parry, the droid would make a quick, small slice at Rift. After taking a slice to both thighs, his left arm, and a quick one across his right cheek(on his face...), the droid dropped kicked him in the chest, sending him air-born once more.

From behind the droid came Davern, two blades drawn. The droid pretended not to see him, keeping suppressing fire going on the ship. Davern lunged, attempting to stab both blades right through its back. In response, the droid bent at the waist and kicked backwards, harmlessly sending the mandalorian backwards. Davern got back to his feet with ease, and rushed the droid with the kind of trained barbarianism that only a mandalorian has. Davern swung for the neck with both blades on opposite sides, with intentions of making the two blades meet in the middle. The droid repeated the same action as last time, leaning forward, but this time brought its foot back up to Davern's crotch, sending him over the droid. It calculated a weak spot on the mandalorian armor, right on the throat. The droid brought the blade down, aiming right for Davern's throat. Rift, who has just stood up, dove forward, almost being hit by a suppressing shot from the droid, and swing right at the blade heading for Davern. The blade was barely parried, sinking into the sand just galactic centimeters away from Davern's neck. Davern was the first roll to his feet, quickly maneuvering around to the back of the droid once more, while Rift kept attention by swinging while coming up. The two humanoids backed up, and then charged forward at the same time, hoping to overwhelm their metallic opponent. The droid's joints folded up as it rolled like a ball to the side, nearly causing the two to slice each other in half. Confused, the two turned to attack once more, with the droid positioning itself in front of both of them and out of the sniper's line of sight. Rift took the first swing, but the parry let him wide open to a lethal blow, from either the sword or the blaster. Time seemed to slow, as the droid's blade came across to the base of Rift's neck. Whether it was a random act of kindness, or if it was done for strategic value, Davern struck both the blaster hand and the vibroblade with an adrenaline fueled speed. He pressed the assault, rapidly swinging at the droid. Once again, the droid sped up and was about to reach unmatched speeds, when Davern headbutt it, catching it completely off guard.

At this point, the sniper was no where to be seen. The issues were starting to pile up, but the only lethal one was the possible disruptor rifle that was still in effect as a major threat. Keeping track of the wreckage for gunners, and now three different vibroswords, the threat rating of this situation was escalating. The droid started to spin, not allowing anyone to get close. It then leaped on top of the wrecked transport, scanning over the area.

Explanation: It is my current objective to escort the assigned Insect Thingy Koda'Rai until the designated safe destination has been reached. Clarification: However, my protocols dictate an extreme disliking to the possibility of being demolecularized. Please place the disruption rifle on the ground, hostile meatbag sniper."

Rift was in a lot of pain now, and didn't know if he could trust this. He saw Koda approach, and so he quickly moved over to him, as much as an injured man could. While he made his way over, he looked over at the mandalorian behind Kota, seeing that she was hurt. She's fine, I'm sure a "mandalorian" can manage. After all, they are the "toughest" assholes in the galaxy. He looked over at Davern, who had saved his life. He didn't try to save me, he was just keeping the odds in his favor. Besides, I saved his ass too, we are even. He stood right next to Koda, Adenn still out. He was panting, blood still dripping from his forehead, and now from the cuts he earned from the battle. His voice was rough, and while speaking had to take moments of breath. "How do we know *cough*, how do we know if we can trust this? It...it just went into a fighting frenzy. We all need to...to band together if we are going to survive in this hell hole of a desert. And our first order of business, is not getting killed by this...thing." With that, he stared at the droid, making sure it didn't make any false movements.

"You answered your own question." Ati grunts at Rift's statement, climbing out onto the sands behind Koda with her pistol only just now drifting down to point at the sand and not threateningly at a particular person.

"We -don't- know we can trust it, but the only way we're carrying enough water to walk out of this in our current states is by working together. And since I'm relatively certain that clanker is the only one here with working nav data..." Here she waves vaguely with the pistol towards the unsalvagable forward half of the ship where most of the useful comm and planetary maps were now slag, "Together means with the droid."

Her head was clear, if sporting a killer headache, and she'd always had a habit of thinking in the long term. She nods at Koda in acknowledgement of his offer of assistance, "When we get off this scrap heap. We need to get anything useful out now, before the damn suns fry us. Then we see about first aide."

"THE SHIP IS GONNA EXPLODE!"

Ati looks back towards Chek's outburst, and then to the ship. It was still hissing and popping from the crash, but there were no signs of that kind of catastrophic failure. The big droid had made quite a racket, and the man seemed a bit confused. He probably wasn't the only one sporting less visible injuries.

"Haar'chak. Anyone too injured to walk?"

She lets her starred visor skip across the standing members of their contingent of survivors. Ati had no desire to sound like she was taking charge, but she didn't want to be sitting on metal baked underneath two suns while concussed fighters jockeyed for an upper hand in an already bad situation. Her arm was stabbing pain in time to the throbbing in her head, and rogues like the type that were inbound on that transport to the ass end of the Rim were likely to start shooting at each other unless they we relying on one another for survival.
