A human girl and Jedi Padawan, just trying to find her destiny.
Clever, confident, and courageous. Yena is not exactly a nurturing, healing person; rather, she has a vibrant personality with lots of cheer. However, she is a surprisingly stable and supportive person, very much an up-front leader. While she puts on the face of the one who's always willing to go forward and is certain about what's supposed to happen, she often questions her very core and existence. She is somewhat studious and knows quite a bit about the 'old ways' of the Jedi. She tries to hold true to the beliefs of the elders, but sometimes she questions even these.
Yena wears a corset-like top and dark leggings under the typical Jedi robe.
Single-handed short lightsaber (yellow).
A necklace; the charm is a brass-looking coin with an odd symbol on its side.
Force powers: Force persuasion; Electric Judgment (weak, appears yellow); Force Valor; Force pull
Fighting style: Form IV, Ataru
(Note: The following is the history that she's willing to tell people. Ask me for more, and also if you really care to know what here is true and what is false...)
Yena doesn't remember much about her young childhood; she has had the scars on her cheeks all her life. She was born a twin to Haru Khal, a serious young man of great stature. For the early years of their lives, they lived on an unnamed planet. At about six years old, a Jedi Master, now dead, discovered Yena when she was on her way to the local pub with her brother. Both had Force abilities and bright minds, and so they were spirited away to train at the Jedi temple.
Early on, Yena and Haru split ways. While Haru began focusing more intently on lightsaber work, Yena was almost immediately interested in meditation, Force powers, and studying the older ways. She became obsessed with the three Pillars of the Jedi: Force, Knowledge, and Self-Discipline and dedicated much time to each of these with intense daily routines, most of which isolated her from her fellows.
When she and Haru began more intense saber training after the basics, she immediately struggled while Haru thrived. Her sweeping motions were dangerous to herself, and she accidentally hit herself many times on the legs and arms with her own blade. To compensate, she was given a shorter lightsaber and taught to utilize more Force-based abilities to defeat her enemies, as well as the acrobatic style Ataru for combat. Even with this, she preferred to defeat her enemies with her mind and became diligent at using the space around her to win.
On the flip side, she was much more skilled with Force abilities. At first, she did not have persuasion or valor on her side. However, her meditation paid off in the form of a useful weapon: Electric Judgment, which sapped and hurt her enemies. Though weak in her youth, it provided a useful distraction while she took down enemies. Meanwhile, her brother lacked the focus to truly use many Force skills, though he had the companionship and easygoing nature to command his fellow Younglings with ease.
When both Yena and Haru became Padawans and were sent on their first mission, Haru was killed by an unknown enemy. His body was destroyed, so his murderer was never traced. He left Yena his coin necklace and a legacy to fulfill.
She immediately became more outgoing, determined to live for Haru. Soon, she gained the charisma and persuasion to guide her through social interaction with ease, even though she never had the confidence in her heart.
Now she refuses to be promoted into a formal Jedi Knight just yet, even though the Council agrees that she is ready. This is because she believes that she must pass the five 'Trials' of Skill, Courage, Spirit, Flesh, and Insight. She has already passed the Trial of Flesh, in the carnal form of her brother's death; she is currently undergoing the Trial of Spirit in the form of a self-discovery and a cultural conflict.
(This cultural conflict stems from her heritage. Yena's family believed in spirits and ghosts, which would influence the living world and affect the behavior of other beings. As a Jedi, Yena is supposed to believe that the dead become the living Force, which would be influenced by Jedi. After Haru's death, Yena began to act somewhat like him. She is not certain if she is simply grieving in her own way, or if his spirit is affecting her behavior.)
