The residents of Izumo are few, and create a close-knit society of people who have known one another since birth. Tourists are rare, new residents even more so, and the only landmark known by any outsiders is the sacred Izumo Taisha Shinto shrine, owned by Izumo's Mayor, Nekomura Hideto. XX
Due to the elderly Mayor's age, his grandson, Hajime, is the one who watches over and cares for the shrine. And, unfortunately, Hajime is not fully human: he harbors the powers of a God and has thus been shunned by the other members of the town, who only pay him any heed when it is absolutely necessary to. Not that he's really alone, stray cats adore him. XXX
One beautiful spring day, a new family arrives in the rural town, and to everyone's surprise, the decide to stay. The town's residents are overjoyed and waste no time in welcoming the family to Izumo, introducing the town's customs and everyday ways of life. Its a 'milestone', the Mayor says. XX
However, the new family's teenage son seems to be the only one who isn't excited about the move, and its understandable - Izumo is definitely a harsh change from the bustling city atmosphere in Tokyo. He isn't happy with the choice to move, and makes it very obvious, even being a bit rude. XX
A chance encounter with Izumo's 'God of Cats' might change his mind. XX
