GENERAL APPEARANCE
Hikari is rather average, both in size and appearance. He stands at 184 centimeters and is quite thin, with little muscle to note, and his overall build is rater weak. His hair is a glossy black that reflects light and is soft to the touch, framing his face with uncoordinated bangs. Oddly enough, Hikari's eyes are a startling emerald color due to his British heritage, and stand out in a crowd. They tend to stand out even more because of his pale skin and his flawless complexion is considered almost feminine by his parents. In fact, there is quite a feminine look to him. On most occasions, Hikari dresses in a way that destroys the line between formal and casual. He tends to favor nice button up shirts and shorts to jeans and t-shirts, and has a rather large collection of ties, though the one commonality between every one of his outfits is a soft white scarf hand-knitted for him as a gift. Hikari never takes off this scarf and refuses to let anyone else touch it unless their hands have been washed recently. He rarely wears any type of jewelry. In terms of accessories, his scarf is an obvious constant, and he tends to be somewhat picky when it comes to shoes. Hikari isn't one to take much interest in makeup, though he does enjoy painting his nails, commonly black or green. XX

PERSONALITY TYPE
When a person takes even a moment to speak to Hikari, the first trait that shows itself is how simply polite he is. He always uses the correct honorifics with those he speaks to and isn't one to make assumptions about other people despite how many assumptions are made about him. Hikari is a gentleman and will always treat his peers with respect, even if they don't always respect him in return. He just doesn't care about it being reciprocated. XX
When someone near him is being insulted, Hikari is the type of person who would counter said insult with a clever pun and a smile, which sometimes makes him seem more naive than intended. Hikari is a rather passive person and isn't one to engage in arguments or fights, instead speaking with words that drip with venom. His polite mannerisms forbid him from insulting anyone and he would never harm another person unless it is absolutely necessary. XXX
Because of this he was an easy target for bullies as a child, though his family name stopped the bullying shortly after it began. Over the years, Hikari's personality hasn't evolved much. Ever he was a child he was taught to remain kind and caring toward those around him, helping those who needed help, and making sure to keep those he cares for out of harm's way. He's always found himself to be rather independent and fun-loving, wanting adventure and searching for the meaning of his life. Hikari has never wanted to be the one to inherit his father's company and instead favors the idea of being able to travel the world, moving from place to place without any convictions to hold him back, and without anyone he needs to answer to. XXX
Hikari doesn't have much of a dark side, and he hasn't been in many situations where he would need one, though he can be quite intimidating if he tries hard enough. His unearthly green eyes make for a nice, piercing glare and he's very skilled at controlling his expressions, impressively so. Hikari doesn't enjoy these moments, however, and he greatly dislikes any arguments or conflict. Hikari would make for a very loyal friend if someone took the time to speak to him. Because so many of his peers tend to avoid him, Hikari has stopped attempting to make peace with his classmates, instead keeping to himself and acting only according to what comes his way. He doesn't butt into other people's business, and he makes it a point not to eavesdrop on other people's conversations, as he wouldn't want people eavesdropping on him. XX

LOVE
RAINY WEATHER ; Rain is calming, cleansing, and something Hikari has always enjoyed ever since he was small. He especially loves rainstorms, with lightning and thunder to accentuate the intense rainfall. MUSIC ; As an adolescent, Hikari fell in love with classical music, and his mother eagerly took the time to teach him how to play the piano. He learned quickly and to this day is quite skilled with the instrument. PHOTOGRAPHY ; You can name anything worth remembering, and Hikari probably has a photograph of it in his collection. Taking pictures is his favorite pastime, and he's never without a camera on his person. TEA ; Hikari's mother is British, and her love of tea transferred over to her children, especially since their father is already in love with Japanese tea. Hikari and his sister often send each other different teas. XXX
HATE
TITLES ; Hikari's surname and status have always loomed over him, driving away potential friends and making others fake their personalities to get closer to him. He finds superiority incredibly discomforting. DENSE CROWDS ; Due to asthma and a certain amount of anxiety about tight spaces, Hikari prefers to avoid terribly dense crowds of people as often as possible, if only to keep from having a breakdown. ARGUMENTS ; Hikari is the kind of person who would much rather walk away or pacify a fight than risk a friendship - or risk getting injured. However, he isn't one to avoid confronting others when need be. SPORTS ; Whether it be soccer or basketball or any other game, Hikari simply isn't good at it, and he'll actively avoid having to prove that fact. He dislikes sports and the competitiveness of the whole ordeal. XX

✘ ✘ ✘ And think of who knows my name...xImage

Image
STRENGTHS
MATHEMATICS ; Hikari has a love for numbers that makes the subject easy for him. He finds it comforting that every question has only one specific answer he needs to find. WRITING ; As a journalist and observer, Hikari writes out the things he sees in his daily life, keeping track of anything and everything that interests him throughout his days. GOOD MANNERS ; Of course, etiquette classes were a must-have in childhood, and the manners and customs learned then have stuck with him even over ten years later. INSTRUMENTS ; Hikari can pick up a new instrument relatively quickly if he puts effort into it. He has mastered the piano, violin, cello, and guitar, though he prefers the piano. XX
WEAKNESSES
TECHNOLOGY ; He has little, if any, interest in modern technologies like computers. He has a cell phone, but he prefers his record player, 19th century radio, and typewriter. FRIENDS ; Hikari has always found it difficult to make friends, not because of social skills, but because of the prejudice others have always had towards his upbringing. SELF-ESTEEM ; While not necessarily self-conscious, Hikari is the kind of person who blames himself when bad things happen to those he loves, despite what's really true. STIMULI ; If Hikari is over-stimulated, whether by an abundance of noise or tension, he will sometimes devolve into anxiety attacks or even asthma attacks from the stress. XX
FEARS
TIGHT SPACES ; Whether it be a too-tiny restroom stall or a dense crowd of people, Hikari has terribly bad claustrophobia, and if bad enough, it can trigger anxiety attacks. DYING ALONE ; Despite how calm Hikari appears about the fact that few want to be his friend, he's actually quite scared of dying without having anyone to be by his side. XX

Hikari was born into wealth, into status and extravagance, and into a world of complications. His parents were kind and caring, teaching him not to worry about the things around him and to always be himself, meanwhile teaching him to be the perfect gentleman along the way. He grew up surrounded by servants, though he wasn't pampered by them as would be expected. His parents believed that he needed to be able to do things on his own in order to be good at anything, though he still wasn't allowed to strain his muscles too much or participate in activities that could be considered dangerous. Early childhood was pure bliss for Hikari, the only way of life he knew. However, the moment he began school, that bliss seemed to fade. His father owned a multimillion dollar company that manufactured everything from electronics to clothing lines, and the Osawa name was known by anyone who had lived in Japan longer than six months. At first, Hikari was bullied by his peers, endlessly teased and picked on for being 'superior'. The bullying didn't last long though, since the bullies quickly realized they wouldn't get anything but an innocent smile out of the boy. Ever since then Hikari has simply been ignored and avoided by the majority of his peers, his classmates constantly acting as if he wasn't even there. He pretends he doesn't notice it. When Hikari was thirteen, his parents had a deep conversation with him and his sister about who was going to inherit the company after they retired. Hikari had never wanted the responsibility and stress being the owner of a company would bring, and Akari gladly took over the role as successor to the Osawa family name. She graduated Senior High a year later and went off to attend college in America, claiming that she needed to learn about the rest of the world first if she was to inherit the entirety of the Osawa family's goods. She's only sent letters to remind them of her existence. Hikari had been at a crossroad when the time came to choose what college he wanted to attend. Relatives wanted him to attend only the best college in Japan, in order for him to be prepared to take over the family name should Akari fail, meanwhile his parents encouraged him to go where he himself felt led. In the end he decided on Tokyo University, leaving many of his relatives to speculate about how his parents had raised him. Hikari's parents and sister fully supported him. Graduating Senior High was a victory in Hikari's eyes. Shortly after he graduated, he moved away from home to live in the dormitories at Tokyo University. His parents and sister, Akari, both send him weekly letters. XX

When he woke up the next morning, Hikari was the only one in the apartment, and as such decided he would be the one to make breakfast. After getting dressed in his usual school attire - a nice shirt, slacks, tie, and sweater - Hikari clipped his hair back once again and headed into the kitchen, setting about making the meal. He was happy to find that the previous night's leftovers had been eaten. Well, I did tell him I would cook for him, so he would have no reason not to eat the meal except to be purposefully rude, which I'm pretty sure Nakajima-san is not. Humming quietly to himself, he continued on cooking, stopping every couple minutes to move the entrails of his scarf out of his range of motion, eventually removing it altogether. XX
Kazuo returned not long before the meal was finished, and the two ate together, chatting mostly about cooking. Hikari's parents were very adept cooks, and he had also been cooking for himself for over a year, so he had a lot of experience. "One thing that has always entertained me is the fact that my elder sister is most likely to worst cook on the face of the Earth. We had to replace our oven once after she destroyed it trying to bake a birthday cake." Hikari smiled at the memory. After eating, he and Kazuo gathered up the dishes and got to work washing them. I feel like a routine might be forming. XX
As opposed to their first day of classes, Kazuo and Hikari walked to school alongside both Takumi and Miki, the latter of which still refused to communicate with Hikari in more than a few subtle glances. Hikari himself didn't mind, so long as their lack of interaction didn't make it awkward for their two newer friends. The group split up at the campus entrance, Kazuo and Hikari for their English lecture hall and studiously going over the vocabulary they'd reviewed during their first day. Most of the words were ones they already knew. As expected, the lecture hall was about half-full, students still filtering in. Hikari took his usual seat at the back of the room and chatted lightly with Kazuo as they waited for their professor to arrive. XX
The class was definitely more productive than their first, since their professor was in a better mood and seemed to be more keen on actually teaching instead of simply having everyone review vocabulary from the previous semester. An hour and a half later, and the bell rang, signaling the end of the lecture. "I suppose I'll see you at lunch then. Enjoy your Social Studies class, Kazuo-san~" Hikari said, waving to his friend as he exited the lecture hall and made his way across campus to the photography room. Hanamura greeted him as he entered, and he smiled politely back to the professor. XXX
Much like his English lecture, the photography lesson passed by quickly, filled with discussion about angles and whether physical film was better or worse than digitally downloading photographs. Hikari was the first to leave the room and slowly made his way toward the cafeteria. He didn't make it far before his otherwise simple day became infinitely more complicated. "Oi, Osawa Hikari! How funny that you'd end up here instead of at some big-wig academy, winning awards and shit like that." Turning toward the source of the taunt, Hikari came face-to-face with Sunohara, one of his Junior and Senior High school classmates - and one of the bullies that had messed with Miki all those years ago. "Sunohara-san. Nice to see you." XXX
"Don't be an ass, I know you don't like me. Which is fair since I pretty much hate you." The taller male went on to spout a few more insults, though Hikari wasn't really listening, simply watching his former schoolmate with a blank expression. A crowd had gathered, and he caught sight of Kazuo, Takumi, and Miki all watching with worried expressions, Miki especially so. Sunohara laughed out loud when he saw Miki. "Hanamoto? You mean you're here too? Oh wow, I guess being beaten to a pulp didn't do it, you're still in cahoots with this asshole over here! Pathetic." XXXX
"That is an incorrect assumption, Sunohara-san." Hikari said, an uncharacteristic edge in his voice. "Hanamoto-san and I no longer have any relations to one another, so there is no reason for you to bother him any further. Now, if you'll excuse me, I only have an hour until my next class and I would rather not waste my lunch break listening to a former bully insult me without reason." He took a moment to send a glare toward Sunohara before turning to walk away, ignoring how obviously shocked his roommate seemed. It was to be expected. Kazuo had never seen him defending himself. XXX
Unfortunately, Sunohara was not pleased. Hikari didn't have time to react as a hand wrapped around the strap of his messenger bag, dragging him violently to the stone floor. He hissed as his body hit the ground, eyes widening as he heard the crack of his camera lens shattering. Hikari sucked in a few breaths and sat up, immediately noticing that one of his hands was bleeding, and the other now scratched. There was also a brand new hole in his pants. To think that so much damage could come from simply being pulled over. I hate this. Well, I suppose Nakajima-san now realizes what I meant. XX

When Miki, Takumi and Kazuo met up and intending to make their ways to the cafeteria when the bell rang, signaling the lunch break, they were talking of how their lectures had been. That is, until a crowd of sorts is gathering and blocked the way. Trying to make their way to the front to see whatever was happening, they were surprised to see that Hikari was being taunted by some guy taller than him. "That was Sunohara, one of the guy who used to bully Osawa-san back in our high school days. For someone with horrible scores like him, how could he even make it here anyway?" Miki said while looked at the other guy with disdain.

Right away, Sunohara seemed to realize that Miki was also there and threw him a few insults as well. Kazuo tried his best to remain calm, though it was mostly due to Takumi holding his arm from behind, while constantly reminded him not to do anything rash. Before Miki could say anything else, however, Hikari spoke up against Sunohara and tried to walk away. But of course, the guy probably wouldn't want to let him off so easy like that.

The moment Kazuo saw that Hikari was pulled back violently, his fists had already clenched as he ground his teeth. He was stepping up to the scene the moment he saw that Sunohara was about to throw a punch at Hikari.

However...

"Yare, yare. I've always admired the surplus of energy of youth that you students often display. But don't you think that fighting at the middle of school like this is suitable, hmm? Is this what you were taught back in your high school?" Someone spoke up from behind as Sunohara's arm was held back and bended from behind with such force that a crack voice could be heard. Winched in pain, he turned back, only to be visibly horrified at the sight of that person.

"Okamoto-sensei...?" Kazuo was surprised for the second time the moment he saw his social study lecturer. Upon seeing the sight of him, the crowd quickly dispersed, until there were only them left.

Kuzuki just stood with his other hand calmly put in his pocket, while gripping Sunohara's arm tightly. He then proceeded to smile brightly, "From what I know, you seemed to have the record of bullying back then, right? Well, I'm very sorry to inform you that you're no longer in your old school, nor your Kyoto region. Where you are standing right now is Tokyo University, so you have to follow our rules. Are you clear, Sunohara-san?" He then gazed at the young man with a calm, yet also menacing, look, "I will let it pass for now, but don't expect the same if I saw this happen again, okay?"

With an annoyed 'tch', the guy quickly moved his arm away, apparently in pain due to the sheer force that Kuzuki held him earlier. He walked pass them and threw Hikari a glare. "Are you okay, Osawa-san?" Kuzuki held out his arm and helped Hikari to stand up, "Those scratches looked nasty though. I suppose you three are his friends, right?" He said to Kazuo, Takumi and Miki, "Please accompany Osawa-san to the infirmary. But do make haste, since the afternoon lectures will begin soon. If that guy still causing you troubles from now on, let me know."

Then, the lecturer bowed respectfully before leaving. The three quickly walked up to Hikari, "Hikari-san, I hear something cracking earlier, did that bastard break your bones or anything?" Kazuo asked worriedly. It's normal of him to be like this whenever he saw his friends in trouble, "But let's get to the infirmary first, shall we?"

And then, the four of them went to the infirmary. There, Kazuo personally put bandage Hikari's wounds. Takumi had also stopped by his locket to grab one of his spare pants that he, strangely, stored for Hikari to wear because of the hole on his pants. "Well, it was lucky that there was nothing too serious. But I suppose there's nothing we could do about your broken camera though. I'll come along with you to buy a new one when we're free, okay?"

Noticing that Hikari was troubled, he just smiled assuredly, "Please don't worry about anything, Hikari-san. We're not the type to abandon our friends just because everyone doesn't share our opinions. Me and Taku will ensure that nothing bad will happen to you." He said with a grin, while Takumi nodded furiously from behind. Miki, however, just stood quietly with a blank gaze, as if he's feeling guilty.

As the bell rang, Kazuo startled as he realized that the lecture has begun. "Do you think you can still walk? I can take you to your lecture hall if you need."

Hikari tensed as Sunohara's fist enclosed around the front of his sweater, pulling him slightly off the ground. He shut his eyes on instinct as Sunohara went to hit him, but the hit never came, and instead he found himself sitting back on the ground, decently unharmed. It was only then that Hikari took notice of how hard he was breathing. Just concentrate on your breathing, imagine the pace you want it to be. His sister's words from years prior echoed in his head, and Hikari shut out the world around him, focusing on slowing his heart rate. Enough had gone wrong already, and he didn't want to add an asthma attack to the worry his friends were very obviously showing. Seconds passed, and Hikari felt his breathing pace return to normal. XXX
Looking up, Hikari watched Sunohara walk away with an angry glare, and let out a relieved sigh. "Are you okay, Osawa-san?" Hikari nodded with a small smile. "Yes, I will be fine. Thank you, Okamoto-san." He took his teacher's outstretched hand and pulled himself up from the ground, straightening his clothes and bending down to pick up the pieces of his broken camera lens. "Those scratches looked nasty though. I suppose you three are his friends, right? Please accompany Osawa-san to the infirmary. But do make haste, since the afternoon lectures will begin soon. If that guy still causing you troubles from now on, let me know." "I doubt he will, but if he does, I will make sure to let you know. Thank you." XX
"Hikari-san, I hear something cracking earlier, did that bastard break your bones or anything?" Hikari turned to find Kazuo rushing over to him with a worried expression, Takumi and Miki following close behind. "Ah, no, that was my camera. The lens shattered. I'm alright, Kazuo-san, I promise." The group then sped off to the infirmary, Hikari carefully dumping the shards of glass into a trash bin as they passed. The nurse wasn't there when they arrived, so Kazuo ended up bandaging every one of Hikari's injuries. It was all done in a delicate and caring way that Hikari couldn't help but smile at. XXX
Takumi also appeared with a pair of clean pants - Why on Earth does he keep pants in his locker? - which Hikari accepted gratefully, not fond of the idea of walking around with a gaping hole in his slacks. I seem to have found some really caring friends. I wonder if they're going to stay, knowing what it means to be a companion to someone of the Osawa family. "Well, it was lucky that there was nothing too serious. But I suppose there's nothing we could do about your broken camera though. I'll come along with you to buy a new one when we're free, okay?" "Oh, there's no need to buy an entire camera, though you can still accompany when I buy a new lens, if you'd like. I do appreciate your care, Kazuo-san, though you mustn't worry." XX
Hikari couldn't help but feel bad that Kazuo had seen him angry, as well as injured. His feelings must have shown in his expression because Kazuo was quick to react. "Please don't worry about anything, Hikari-san. We're not the type to abandon our friends just because everyone doesn't share our opinions. Me and Taku will ensure that nothing bad will happen to you." Hikari smiled at that, and even more at Takumi's wild nodding. "Well, hopefully that job won't be too difficult. I would hate to give the two of you more to do when you already have classes and part-time jobs." He caught sight of Miki's guilt-filled expression, and when their eyes met, the blond's gaze moved immediately to the floor, as if he thought Hikari was angry. XXX
The bell rang overhead, signaling the start of the next lectures, and Miki was quick to excuse himself. Takumi lingered a few moments later before bidding goodbye and heading off to his own class. Hikari watched them leave, letting out a tired sigh, and stood, picking up his things with care. "Do you think you can still walk? I can take you to your lecture hall if you need." Hikari smiled at the gesture. "Thank you, Kazuo-san, but I wouldn't want to make you any later to your lecture than you already are. Instead, why don't I wait for you after my lecture is over? We can walk home together. Try not to worry about me, please. I doubt I'm worth the worry." With that and a small wave, Hikari left, hurrying off toward his Music Studies lecture hall. XX
The class passed quickly, mostly due to the fact that Hikari really wasn't paying all that much attention to the lecture. A couple of students that had observed the fight gave him weird looks, but he really couldn't have cared less. For the first time in a long time, Hikari was the first person to get up and leave when the lecture ended, making his way out of the lecture hall and toward the campus entrance. Luckily, he didn't run into anyone else harboring ill will towards him - at least no one that was obvious about it. I guess I can't truly tell whether anyone dislikes me unless they show it in some way. When he reached the front entrance, Hikari slipped a jazz cassette into his Walkman and waited patiently for Kazuo's own lecture to finish. XX

When Hikari reassured Kazuo that he's okay and that he could walk to his lecture hall by himself, he still felt a little unease, as times like this were usually when his over-protectiveness come out. However, he didn't want to make things to get more awkward for his roommate more than it already is, so he just nodded to him, "Yeah, I understand. Please look after yourself, Hikari-san." And with that said, he made his way off the infirmary with haste.

Miki, however, seemingly had left when they didn't realize, which left Kazuo and Takumi making their own ways back to their respective lecture halls that they have to attend. For the most part, the lecture seemed to went on peacefully. He couldn't help but notice that some of the students who watched the fight earlier seemed a little bit... scared when Kuzuki looked at them. Well, it's normal for him to be intimidating like that since he was a lecturer after all, but being able to stop a delinquent like Sunohara showed that he's not to be taken lightly.

The rest of the lectures finished in a flash and when the bell rang, Kazuo quickly gathered his stuffs and made his way out of the hall, heading towards the school's entrance.

Meanwhile, Miki seemed to have finished at the same time as Hikari and was strolling his way towards the entrance. It was his turn to do the cooking today so he decided to went home before Takumi. When he saw Hikari, he was surprised, but tried his best to keep a calm expression. As he approached his ex-lover, he stopped by his side, "I have never blamed you for what had happened. None of that was your fault and I wanted you to know that... never once in my life would I ever bring myself to hate you." He said, before walking away without turning his face to look at Hikari.

As Kazuo joined Takumi when they met at the shoes' lockers, they chatted while making their ways to the school's entrance. "So some of the senpais told me a couple of things about Okamoto-sensei and it looked like he was not someone you could mess with." Takumi said to his best friend almost in a whispering manner.

"Why?" Kazuo raised the question.

"He took the fifth rank in the top ten best lecturers in Japan. What's more, he's the eldest son of the Okamoto family - the second most prestigious family in Japan. Though just like Hikari-chan, Okamoto-sensei didn't become the heir to his family to pursue his dream of teaching. Some rumors here and there even say that he has some ties with all sorts of shady people, like yakuza or something. Even the Principal of this university have to respect him, I can tell you." Takumi said before sighing, "Looks like we're not getting to act as comfortable as we could back in Sapporo anymore."

Kazuo chuckled, "Come on. It's not all that bad."

Both of them greeted Hikari as the three headed back to the complex together. "Tonight I'll make dinner so you should just take it easy, okay?" Kazuo said as he and Hikari went inside their apartment.

Hikari said nothing as Miki approached, not knowing what to say. He was surprised that Miki spoke first - considering the fact that they'd more or less been ignoring each other completely since they'd met two days prior. "I have never blamed you for what had happened. None of that was your fault and I wanted you to know that...never once in my life would I ever bring myself to hate you." As Miki left, Hikari exhaled the breath he'd been holding, and let out a quiet laugh. "Of course...how the hell was I supposed to know that..." No one was around to hear, and Hikari rubbed his bandaged hands over his face before anyone could see the tears. How ridiculous, only just now getting around to crying over my very first heartbreak. XX
There was nothing to suspect when Kazuo and Takumi showed up. Hikari smiled to them and waved as they approached, joining the two and following as they all made their way back to the dormitory. "Tonight I'll make dinner so you should just take it easy, okay?" Kazuo said. Hikari didn't bother to argue, and simply nodded in agreement, smiling to himself as he headed to his bedroom. After putting away his things, he carried his typewriter into the main room and made himself comfortable at the dining table, setting to work typing up the report to go with the set of photographs he'd taken of popular food establishments in the area. Most were well-known ramen shops and a couple were fancy restaurants he'd used his surname to get into. XXX
After about ten minutes, Hikari's hands began to ache, as typing was apparently aggravating the scratches he'd gained earlier. Hikari frowned at his hands in annoyance and returned his typewriter to its place on his desk, now forced to find something else to entertain himself. I suppose doing something new wouldn't me much of a bad thing. I remember reading about a new planetarium in the newspaper last week, maybe I should go and visit. I've never written an article on a planetarium before... Grabbing his cell from where it had been left in his bag, Hikari searched the address of the planetarium and made sure the business was still open before heading over to Kazuo's bedroom, peeking in through his roommate's open doorway. XXX
"Kazuo-san, I'm going to go visit a new planetarium that opened up last week. I thought it might be an interesting place to write an article on. Would you like to accompany me?" He said, leaning against the door frame and smiling to Kazuo. I wonder if this kind of outing could be classified as a date. XX

X My poor baby!! I love you Hikari, I promise!! Anyways, the vacuum at my house broke, so I've been forced to use the mega-old mega-loud shop vacuum my bro
X uses to vacuum out his car. Now my ears hurt. My dog also got shots yesterday and she's been super duper drowsy all day, so that's fun. Had a decently fun day.

When Hikari just nodded to his offer without saying anything, Kazuo can clearly notice that something is definitely bothering his roommate. He quietly let out a sigh. For someone who would spend his life looking after the welfare of others like him, of course it would be quiet bothering for him too. Well, there hasn't been a whole lot of people whom he can truly look after for. Takumi, his dad, his late mom and Akira, his little brother, are really the only ones who are close to him. When it comes to Hikari though, even if they aren't that close yet, he knows that he had already added another person to that list. I definitely will.

He took some clothes from his own room and decided to take a shower first. It has been a rather long and eventful morning and it is natural for everyone to feel tired. Even though Miki probably would have already had Takumi to take care of, Kazuo hoped that things would be okay for him too. He doesn't understand much about things that people who are ex-lovers would usually do when they accidentally met again. Apparently it wouldn't be neither overly dramatic nor romantic like in those novels and manga he once read. But for now, it's best not to concern over it too much.

As he stepped out from the bathroom, he saw that Hikari was peaking in at the same time. "Hey, Hikari-san. Is there anything you need?" He asked. And Hikari then proceeded to ask if he could come together with him to a new planetarium that had just been opened the other day, in which Kazuo nodded in agreement. "Of course, I'd love to. Let's talk about it while we're having dinner, okay?" He smiled.

Then, Kazuo went into the kitchen and began to took out the ingredients from the cupboards and refrigerator to make dinner. He decided to make some burgers and Caesar salad for tonight. Sometimes he really did feel like a househusband though. Because he had always been taught to do the chores around house and cook foods for himself ever since his mom is still alive. He was grateful to her because of that. To say that their family is a family of cooks wouldn't be too much of an exaggeration.

When he's finished, they dined together and discussed about their trip to the planetarium, and concluded that they should go together when both of them are free. "I don't have any lecture of Thursday either, but I have an assignment with a group of my fellow classmates because sensei had just given us a project to do. Shall we make it weekend? We can also go shop for things that we're needing too if you like."

That sounds like fun indeed xD
Over here, people are just Euro everywhere, I didn't care much because I'm not a soccer fan LOL

"Of course, I'd love to. Let's talk about it while we're having dinner, okay?" Nodding, Hikari followed Kazuo into the kitchen, laughing amusedly as he was shooed out moments later to wait patiently while Kazuo cooked. He busied himself by silently watching the way Kazuo moved about, admiring his muscles and trying his best to be subtle about it. Hikari wouldn't be lying if he said he had the hots for his roommate, though the only person he would ever tell this to would be his siser, Akari. She was the only person who wouldn't be able to directly affect his life with the information, being in the U.S. XX
Dinner was, of course, absolutely amazing. It couldn't have been anything less if Kazuo was cooking. During the meal, the two discussed Hikari's planetarium-date proposal, and concluded that the best time to go would be on a day when students were allowed in free of charge. They were both glad to find that said days were Saturday and Sunday, which they both conveniently had free of classes. Kazuo also had Sunday off of work, so they decided to go then. It would also give Hikari time to head back into Akihabara to buy a new camera lens. Its sad that I was there only a few days ago... XX
"I'll need to visit Akihabara to buy a new camera lens before we visit the planetarium, so I may go and take a trip there tomorrow or the day after. You can come along, if you're free, though I doubt it will be a very interesting trip." The conversation carried on for a little while as they washed the dishes together - Hikari had adamantly refused to let Kazuo do everything himself - before Hikari announced he was going to take a bath. While he let his muscles relax in the hot water, Hikari called his sister for the second time that week and told her about what Miki had told him that afternoon. "Well hey, that's a good thing! I think its good to know that Miki was never against you, especially with the way you two broke up, Michan." XXX
"Anyways, I'm going somewhere right now where signal's gonna be a bit scratchy, so I have to go. I miss you." "I miss you too, Nee-chan. Come home soon, okay?" "I'll try my best!" Hikari didn't miss the hint of amusement in Akari's voice, but ignored it, assuming she'd probably just seen something funny right as she was hanging up. He spent a few more minutes in the bath, carefully running a finger over the scratches on his hands and knee, quietly humming the Clair de Lune to himself before eventually getting out of the now-lukewarm bath water and silently tiptoeing off to bed. XXX
The next day passed the same as every other. Somehow, the tension surrounding Hikari and Miki had disappeared completely, and the two conversed as if nothing had ever happened between them. It was a relief to everyone in their small social circle, especially Hikari, who hated being on bad terms with people. Classes were bland and monotonous but not un-enjoyable, and lunch period went by without any more drama, which Hikari was grateful for. It wasn't until the afternoon, when all four friends were returning to the dormitory, that the excitement grew, though not necessarily in a bad way. XX
Hikari and Kazuo were chatting about English slang, while Miki was listening to Takumi talk animatedly about something or other. As the group approached the tall dormitory building, a figure standing in the courtyard and surrounded by luggage caught their attention. Hikari recognized the figure immediately, and stood staring for a moment in shock before shoving what he was holding into Kazuo's arms and throwing himself at Akari, who burst out laughing and twirled him around with surprising strength. Miki grinned in recognition, explaining to Kazuo and Takumi that the woman was Akari, Hikari's sister who had been living in America for almost five years. Hikari was practically teeming with happiness, and quite obviously so. XX

Dinner passed by quietly as the discussion over their 'date' to the planetarium which Hikari had recommended. Well, since Miki and Takumi probably would want to be tagged along, it could be hardly called a 'date', after all. But at least, being able to hang out together somewhere after dreading lectures at university would be awesome. Though it's still days away before they actually be going, Kazuo is feeling excited already. The conversations shifted from the date into something else, which mostly around school stuffs and how they have been doing with their subjects.

When they've finished dining, they washed the dishes together, though Kazuo had insisted that Hikari doesn't have to, it seemed he couldn't really convince his roommate. Hikari said that he was intended to go to Akihabara to get some lens for his camera, and that Kazuo might tag along if he wanted to, though it may be a rather boring trip, but he shook his head, "Nah, it's fine. I'll go with you to Akihabara then. I'm sure there's gonna be more thing for me to do with the other two while you get whatever you needed." He said with a smile. When the dishes are washed, Hikari excused himself to go and take a bath. Kazuo also made his way back to his room. There, he turned on his laptop and decided to have a live chat with his dad, to see how things have been back home.

When Daisuke's face appeared on the screen, Kazuo was greeted by his usual bored expression. Well, for some reasons people at the host bar loves it to death. Apparently nothing much had happened in Sapporo, it has been snowing and he had been spending more time at home to look after Akira. Moments later, his younger brother poked it and said that he missed his onii-chan a lot, and they high-fived through the screen. Looks like everything was well at home.

"Well, be sure to be good at the kindergarten and listen to tou-chan, Aki-chan." Kazuo said while smiling brightly.

Akira nodded repeated, "I will, I will. Please come back and see me soon, onii-chan. I love you."

"If you don't have anything else to say then I'm off." Daisuke said in a bored manner.

"Geez, even when I'm this far away, couldn't you show just a little bit of love like your harem?" Kazuo teased.

"Don't be gettin' full of yourself. Just remember to bring my son-in-law to see me next time you came back." His father said before they bid goodbye and turned off the call. He proceeded to finish a couple of homework before settled for the night.

The following day passed by in the same manner as everyday, though it seems that the awkwardness between Hikari and Miki have lifted. And they got Takumi to thank for that, since they've been spending the whole night last night confiding with each other. Though whatever they've been talking with each other remained unknown as Takumi stated that 'it's secrets between them.' Not that Kazuo would care too much about it.

When they've finished, the four of them made their way to the school entrance, where a young woman is seemingly waiting for them. Miki grinned and said, "That's Akari-san, Hika's sister." Miki grinned and introduced as he waved to her. "Long time no see, nee-san." He said to her. Kazuo and Takumi also went on and introduced themselves afterward.

"So when you said 'I'll try my best' on the phone yesterday, you were teasing me! And you had to hang up because there wouldn't be reception on the plane! I could have figured all that out, yet you still managed to surprise me." "What can I say? I'm good at keeping secrets~" Akari said, grinning and ruffling his hair. She grinned even wider when she noticed Hikari was wearing the dragonfly pin she'd sent him. "It suits you." People were now starting to stare, probably wondering who it was that Hikari seemed so happy to see, but neither of the Osawa siblings cared or even acknowledged it. They both smiled when Miki hurried over. He'd only gotten to meet Akari about twice before she'd left for the states, but he still knew her well enough. XX
"Well well, look who went and got taller! You're as tall as I am now, Miki-kun!" Akari said, ruffling his hair as well and leaning close to whisper in his ear. "Michan told me what you said to him yesterday, and I wanna thank you." Winking to Miki and putting a finger to her lips in a show of secrecy, Akari turned to Kazuo and Takumi as they introduced themselves. "Well, its nice to meet you two! I've already heard a lot from Michan, especially about you, Kazu-kun~" Hikari got a little red-faced, but didn't bother to correct his sister, not really all that embarrassed by how much he'd talked about his roommate. He watched with a smile as Akari playfully interacted with his friends, as if they were her friends as well. XXXXX
Not that they weren't Akari's friends too - after all, Akari could make a friend out of anybody, a skill that Hikari had always been a little bit jealous of. XXXX
"Alright, nee-san, why don't we get all this stuff upstairs? Why did you bring so much, its like you brought everything you own..." Akari's grin faltered at his comment, and Hikari immediately noticed something was wrong. "Well, that's because it is everything I own, or at least everything I owned while in America. There's a lot I have to explain to you, Michan." Nodding, Hikari shared a worried look with Miki and gathered up as much of his sister's luggage as he could carry, the four of them helping her carry it all to the elevator and then to his and Kazuo's dorm. It really was a lot of stuff - after all, Akari had been living in America for nearly five years - but they worked together and managed to get everything up in one trip. XX
After bidding goodbye to Miki and Takumi, the atmosphere between Hikari and Akari became significantly more awkward and strained, though they both tried their best to hold up a conversation with Kazuo while he helped them carry Akari's things into Hikari's room. When they were done, he watched as his sister headed out onto the balcony, waving at him to follow her. "I'm sorry, Kazuo-san, but you'll have to excuse us." He noticed that Kazuo looked worried, and flashed him a small smile before joining his sister on the balcony and closing the door behind him. "What is it, nee-san?" XX
"So, you know Michael, the guy I've been dating for four years?" Hikari nodded. "Well...he got me pregnant. He ignored me completely after I told him, and the next day, he left without a word. I haven't told anyone else yet, and I thought it'd be best to come home." For a moment, Hikari felt as if he was about to panic, but he did his best to cool his thoughts. "Well, first of all, congratulations. I know that probably isn't what you want to hear, but I really am happy for you. But...nee-san, what's going to happen now? Obaa-san could have your inheritance stripped if she finds out you got pregnant without being married, or that you aren't in a relationship with the father. And what if the press finds out? Then what will happen?" XX
Despite his attempts not to panic, that's exactly what Hikari was doing, and it wasn't completely out of line. "Nee-san, what if obaa-san forces you out of the home? What if she takes the baby and puts it up for adoption?! What if-" "Hikari." Akari patted his head soothingly, trying to calm him before he went into a panic attack. "You don't need to worry about me, or about what obaa-chan will do. You know our parents would never let her go so far as kick me out or steal my baby. It'll be fine, I promise." Nodding slowly, Hikari turned to stare and the floor as Akari hugged him close. "It'll all be fine. Now, I have to go and meet up with someone in about a half hour, so why don't you go chat with your hunk roommate?" XX
Akari grinned to Kazuo as she headed for the front door, declaring that she was going to meet a friend and would be back by dinnertime. Hikari didn't smile as he entered the apartment, closing the balcony door slowly and scratching his arm as he stepped past Kazuo and into his bedroom. He shut the door behind him with a quiet clack and immediately took a seat at his desk, pulling out his typewriter and getting to work. Nee-san showed up at my dormitory out of the blue. She came to tell me that she is pregnant, and that Michael-san - the father - is no longer in the picture. I am worried about what our relatives will do. I am worried that nee-san's inheritance might be revoked. I do not want to have to be put in charge of the family company... XX
Hikari kept typing his feelings, every detail of what had happened and what he felt, even after his fingers started to hurt and cramp up. Eventually, he came to a stop after writing a full two pages, surprising when he was only detailing ten minutes' worth of an event. Surely I am over-reacting...its like nee-san said, it will all be fine. It has to be. Hikari left the pages where they were - one sitting idly on his desk and the other still stuck in the typewriter - and moved over, using the rest of his desk space to finish an essay for his English class that was due the day after tomorrow. Akari returned to the apartment an hour later, sparing no details of who she met with or what it was about, and happily offered to help Kazuo cook dinner for three of them. XX
Three turned into five, after Miki and Takumi were invited to join the meal, and they both rejoiced at how simply amazing the food was. "Well, our parents taught Michan and I to cook when we were very little, though I think Kazu-kun over here is even better than I am~" Hikari stayed silent throughout most of the conversation, only speaking when someone spoke directly to him and giving small, fake smiles whenever he did speak. Though Akari may have been ignoring the fact, it was very obvious that something was up with Hikari, and it was only a matter of time before Kazuo would undoubtedly ask him what was wrong. Hikari knew it would happen - his roommate was too kind a person not to care about his many stressors. XX
However, it could be argued that if Kazuo was so kind, he might avoid the topic completely out of respect. Hikari wouldn't have minded either way. XXX
Image

X Welp, their apartment suddenly has a balcony, I guess. And hinthint, Akari is going to meet with Okamoto because I bet you $100 he was her idea in the first place.

The three of them walked up and approached Akari when she was talking with Hikari. Apparently she doesn't seem to stress over formality much, despite Kazuo and Takumi have barely met her just moments ago. When Akari ruffled his hair and said that he had gotten taller, and whispering her thank to his ear, he just smiled and replied, "It's not me who you needed to thank, nee-san. But, it's something I just gotta do." He nodded to her when she signaled to keep it a secret, under both Kazuo and Takumi's curious eyes.

The two then stepped up and introduced themselves, and Kazuo couldn't help laughing it off when Akari said that Hikari had said a lot about him to her, "Well, I don't think that it's really that much. We've only been living together not very long. Probably not even a month yet." He said while scratching the back of his head. From behind, Miki could notice that Hikari was hiding his face away while blushing a little, and he smiled lightly at the sight. At least for now, there wouldn't be too much for him to worry about anymore, whenever he faces with Hikari from now on.

After all the greetings had been done, they all helped Hikari to get her luggage up to Hikari's room. Kazuo was a bit taken about by the amount she brought along with her, as if she was intended to stay over for very long. It took a lot of struggle for them but they've managed to get them all in just one go. When they've reached their floor and helped Akari to put the stuff inside, Miki and Takumi went back to their room. "I think it's been a long way for you. What do you want for dinner, Akari-san?" Kazuo was asking, but immediately noticed the weird atmosphere between the two siblings.

"Erm, is something wrong?" Kazuo asked nicely, as usual, and Hikari told him that he and his sister got something to speak in private, while flashing a rather unconvincing smile. He decided not to dwell into their business anymore and instead walked his way to the blonde boys' room, which was only a few blocks away. When he stepped inside, the first thing that greeted him was a huge mess, which probably hasn't been cleaned up since last night.

Sighing, Kazuo could almost convinced that they're probably meant to be the moment they met. Both of them are usually enthusiastic when it comes to cleaning, but unfortunately, it didn't last long. He could figure out that much after the frequent times he and Hikari stopped by in the past month. Then suddenly, there was laughter coming from the bedroom they share together, and something like "don't do that, stop" and "don't be shy, we've been roomies for a month." Sighing again, Kazuo made his way to their room, and facepalmed himself at the sight.

It would be quite a scene that people would misunderstood if they saw. Both of them were lying on their futons, while Takumi was caressing Miki's abs from behind, with the latter's shirt rolled up to his chest. "I can't believe you two. It wasn't even a month yet and I think you've done more than what a couple would usually do in a year." Kazuo said to them. Both of them sat up as Takumi sneered back, "Is that jealousy I hear, Kazu-chan? I haven't been worshiping your ripped body for a while and you've already missed me. Come then, I'll make it up for you ~"

Kazuo coldly pushed Takumi away when he was jumping for him. The three of them then went on to chat about the Osawa siblings, where Miki finally confessed how things had really been before with both him and Hikari. Well, he had already stayed up all night the day before to confide with Takumi, too. It turned out that it was never his intention to move from Kyoto in the first place. He had tried to hide the bruises and wounds he got from fights against those who bully Hikari, but his parents still found out. They flipped out on Hikari's parents and decided to move to Nagoya in the end, despite his protests. He doesn't even got a chance to explain and say a proper goodbye with his ex.

"People always do crazy things when they're head over heels for each other, y'know. And no matter how much I was beaten up, if I can protect him even for just a little bit, then I don't mind." Miki said with a light smile, "I too had hoped that our reunion would be different, but when I see him, I just... don't know what to do or say anymore. There isn't a single day that I didn't miss him. But when I finally see him again, my courage just disappeared."

The three of them went silent for a couple of moments, before Kazuo asked, "Do you still love him?"

"Of course I do. It's never changed in the past years. And I had wanted us to return to how we were, but I supposed... we are just not meant for each other. It's better for things to stay the way they are right now. I just need to look after him again, but this time, as friends. But, I believe Hikari had already found someone whose shoulders he can lean on already." Miki turned to him and smiled rather ambiguously. Kazuo doesn't understand what he meant by that, but decided not to let it concern him for now.

The five of them then shared dinner together. It was quite fun, as Akari really knows how to stir things up. Kazuo, however, once again noticing Hikari's distress. But decided not to ask as it would spoil the atmosphere. When they've finished dining, Miki and Takumi went back to their apartment, Akari had also retreated to Hikari's room, which left Hikari and Kazuo taking care of the washing up.

They stayed mostly silent, until Kazuo decided to speak up, "I'm sorry if I'm a bit curious... is everything fine with you and Akari-san?"

I think we could make a spin-off where Takumi and Miki are the main couple LOL
And that's almost correct xD

After dinner, Takumi and Miki headed back to their dorm to 'study'. Akari claimed she was exhausted from her red-eye flight, so she headed off to Hikari's room to sleep, eyeing him and Kazuo as she shut the door behind her. "I'll help with the dishes, Kazuo-san." Hikari said, gathering the plates and stepping quietly over to the sink. He stayed quiet as he scrubbed each dish, not knowing quite what to say. Luckily, Kazuo spoke first, breaking the awkward silence but sadly not the intense tension surrounding Hikari. "I'm sorry if I'm a bit curious... is everything fine with you and Akari-san?" XX
Hikari let out a long sigh. "Between me and nee-san, everything is as it usually is. We have always been close, and I do not remember us ever fighting. The problem is not between the two of us, the problem is between the two of us and our family." Not bothering to dry his hands of soapy water, Hikari turned around and leaned back against the counter, staring blankly at the floor. "Nee-san is pregnant, and I can't say I'm not happy for her. I suppose I have always dreamed about the day I would become an uncle. However, our grandparents will not be so understanding, especially when they discover that the father is no longer a part of nee-san's life. There are so many bad things that could happen, and I can't stop myself from worrying about her." XX
Suddenly, Hikari laughed, brushing his bangs out of his face and promptly getting soap suds in his hair. "And here I am, pouring all my problems onto you, even though you have nothing to do with all this. I really have always been a burden, haven't I? Perhaps there is a reason why no one ever seems to like me." Not taking the time to look up at Kazuo, Hikari dried his hands and wiped the soap from his hair, scratching his arm as he moved toward his room. "Oyasumi, Kazuo-san. Please don't worry about me, I doubt I'm worth the effort." And he crept into his room without another word. XX
The next morning, Hikari woke up before daylight so he could walk his sister to the train station. She needed to head home, and claimed she didn't want to make a fuss out of her leaving by saying dramatic goodbyes. Akari had always been that way. When she'd left for America, there had been no goodbyes. She'd slipped out in the middle of the night without a word. This time Hikari insisted on accompanying her, using the excuse of helping her with the small amount of luggage she was taking with her. "Michan, you really shouldn't be so hard on yourself. I don't think Kazuo thinks of you as a burden, or Miki or Takumi or even tou-san and kaa-san. And especially not me." "So you were listening in last night, I assume..." XXX
"Hikari," Akari spun around, grabbing his shoulders and giving him her motherly stare. "Haven't you ever thought that perhaps the reason you can't make friends is because you refuse to allow anyone to care for you? I'm fully aware that people ignore and avoid you, they did it to me too. But you have to love yourself before anyone else can love you. Calling yourself a burden and being negative all the time will eventually push everyone away from you, including Kazuo, who I know for a fact might be in love with you, even if he doesn't know it himself. I could see it in the way he worries, the way he looked at you during dinner. You can't let that go because you can't love yourself." XX
Akari's words echoed in his head, even as she waved to him from the train window as it sped off toward Kyoto, and even as he slowly made his way back to his dorm. What if she's right? How can I not feel like a burden? He frowned, walking into his and Kazuo's apartment as quietly as he could. XX

X Holy cheeseballs we should actually do that! It would be hilarious to see everything from their points of view, and I'd actually enjoy writing out the details of it all.

Kazuo listened attentively to every word that Hikari got to said about the what had happened between him and his sister, Akari. And it could only get more and more surprising by the minute. Apparently Akari is pregnant now and the father of the baby inside her had abandoned her, as if he doesn't wanted to take responsibility for what he did. That's also the reason why she had returned to Japan. But it seems things will become a lot more complicated from now on in the Osawa family, with a high chance that Akari might be have her inheritance of the family annulled.

"I-I see..." Kazuo said, trying to to smile in assurance, "You two must have had it tough. But I'm pretty sure everything will turn out okay. I mean, your grandparents may be harsh and stuff but they couldn't possibly just turn their back on their grandchildren like that, right? You don't have to think too negatively about it, nothing bad will come in your way-"

Though before Kazuo could finish his sentence, Hikari looked up to him with a sad smile, while brushing some of his bangs off. He then proceeded to apologize for pouring his troubles onto him, and loathed himself for being a burden all the time. "Hikari-san, that's not-" He spoke up, only to be interrupted again by Hikari bidding goodnight to him, and retreated to his room. He stood quietly and gazed at the closed door for a few moments, before sighing. It has always been in his nature to take care and look after others unconditionally, no matter how things may be daunting for them. So even if he's being pushed away, he's not going to give up.

As usual when morning came, Kazuo had already gotten up and did his jogging and exercises. On his way, he saw a familiar face, who turned out to be Tsubasa. "Hey, Tsubasa-san." Kazuo called over to his club president as he catch up with him. "Ohayo, Nakajima-kun. Working out today too?" Both of them chatted as they jogged together to the park where Kazuo usually exercising every morning.

At the park, they did their usual exercises together and Tsubasa gives Kazuo a few useful tips on how to improve his hand movements, as well as maintaining his speed more stably when swimming. Of course, he might have made it to the nationals, but there's a lot he can learn from the other members of the club. They sat at a bench and drank their own bottles of water to rehydrate themselves, while chatting on.

"I must say, Nakajima-kun, you really are a nice guy." Tsubasa said with a smile, "You certainly had been a great help since the past month. Most of the guys like you right away, which was not something usual for a freshman."

"Thanks for the compliment, everyone had helped me a lot too." Kazuo grinned while scratching the back of his head.

"I'm pretty sure that if anyone having a bad day, they would certainly cheer up a bit whenever you're around. It's something that I'm really envious of you, y'know? Always remain a good guy like that and girls will fall for you like autumn leaves." Tsubasa said with another grin.

Kazuo pondered for a few moment at the statement, "You really think that?" He asked, and his senpai nodded. Both of them then parted way as they still got morning lessons to attend. When he returned to the apartment, he saw Hikari walking quietly, "Hikari-san? Have you been accompanying Akari-san to the station?" He asked, then noticing the look in his eyes that hadn't changed since last night, and smiled, "I just wanted you to know that you're not a burden to anyone. I might not be able to help you with your family affairs. But I'm your friend, and there's nothing wrong in relying on your friends whenever you have trouble. So please cheer up, okay? I'm sure both Taku and Miki-san will say the same. You don't want to be over pessimistic just before our trip to Akihabara, right?"

Hikari had forgotten that Kazuo went on runs every morning, and remembered the fact when his roommate came in behind him, making his tip-toeing completely unnecessary. "Hikari-san? Have you been accompanying Akari-san to the station?" "Yes. My sister hates goodbyes, she wanted to make sure she was gone before anyone could feel sad about seeing her go." Hikari sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I suppose that's the kind thing to do." "I just wanted you to know that you're not a burden to anyone. I might not be able to help you with your family affairs. But I'm your friend, and there's nothing wrong in relying on your friends whenever you have trouble. So please cheer up, okay? I'm sure both Taku and Miki-san will say the same. You don't want to be over pessimistic just before our trip to Akihabara, right?" Kazuo said, smiling in such a way that made Hikari's heart swell. XX
"I suppose you're right. Thank you, Kazuo-san." Hikari smiled, a genuine smile, and stood up a little straighter, still feeling bad about himself but not as much. "Speaking of our trip, we should try to leave between nine and noon tomorrow, in order to avoid the morning and afternoon crowds. Not that it is really all that important." Hikari rambled. Pulling the dragonfly brooch from where it was stashed in his pocket, Hikari pinned back his bangs and offered to make breakfast, refusing to be dissuaded from the idea. Kazuo had been making all the meals and he wanted to thank him, if in such a small way. I should ask Takumi-san what kind of gift Nakajima-san would enjoy. I need to find a way to thank him for taking care of me when I was injured. XX
Inspired by his sister's sudden visit, Hikari decided to make a Western-style breakfast, complete with pancakes from an online recipe and a bottle of maple syrup Akari had sent him in a package once. According to her letter, it was one of those foods that never went bad. During the meal, Hikari was still quiet, though it wasn't nearly as awkward and depressing as it had been the night before. "One day, I would like for you to come with me on a trip to my hometown, perhaps for New Year's. I think you would like it. The scenery there is beautiful, and it would be much calmer than Tokyo." Every year, Hikari went home over winter break in order to help his parents manage the family shrine. There were always an abundance of visitors during Christmas and New Year's, so they needed all the help they could get, and it was a nice change from the time he'd spent in the busy Tokyo atmosphere. XX
Unlike Kazuo, Hikari didn't have any classes to attend, however he decided to come along anyways, planning on spending some time in the library to study. He also wanted to take a few pictures of the school's garden, which reminded him of the project he still had to complete. That's right, I still need to take photographs of a person... The idea was still a tad bit annoying, but Hikari also knew it would be a good excuse to take photographs of Kazuo - if he was allowed to, anyhow. The only photograph of a person he had at the moment was the one of Kazuo sleeping, which had been taken on the sly. XX
Hikari bid goodbye to Kazuo, Takumi, and Miki as the four went their separate ways once reaching the school, and he tucked his earbuds in his ears as he made his way toward the library. As he passed the school garden, Hikari decided to instead spend the next hour or so there. The sky was grey but not yet raining, and as usual, no one was there to bother him. Pulling out his Polaroid camera, Hikari snapped a few pictures of the flowers in the garden before laying flat on the grass, camera pointed at the grey clouds. After he'd taken about fifteen Polaroids, he sat up and carefully tucked them away, instead turning to his English vocabulary list to practice writing out different sentences. And there he remained, until lunch, several hours later. XX

When Hikari thanks Kazuo, he just nodded with another smile, "It's natural. We're friends after all, right? And I'll never turn back on my friends no matter what happened. I'm pretty sure Akari-san wouldn't want you to keep all the burdens for yourself, too. So just rely on me, okay?" Hikari then suggested that they should be going between nine and noon, as there will be a lot of crowds on the street, "Yeah, I agree with that too. But I'm fine with anything, really. As long as you got what you need."

Hikari then proceeded to make breakfast for both of them, which was a Western-style one served with pancakes and maple syrup. Kazuo once had pancakes before, but he had never tasted maple syrup and would use honey instead anytime he makes pancake. It really brought out a total new flavor. Of course, Hikari's foods are always tasty, so there's no comment over it. While they ate away their breakfast, Hikari remained quiet still, though thankfully, not as heavily as yesterday. When he commented that Kazuo should travel with him to Kyoto, probably on New Year or something, he smiled, "That sounds nice. I've always wanted to see how it is in Kyoto in New Year or something. You should come to Sapporo too. Usually there's a lot of snow at the beginning of the year too and I'd love to teach you how to ski, if you want."

The group of them headed for university as usual. Since Kazuo only had morning lectures today, he was quite relieved that he got to spend the whole afternoon off. The lectures passed by in a flash and Kazuo gathered his stuff in order to catch up with Hikari at lunch break when as he could settle for the day and go back to his apartment. He still got a shift at Albrecht later that evening, but he doesn't mind it much.

Kuzuki was strolling at the school's entrance after a lecture of his, when he saw Hikari standing in front of the gate. The lecturer approached him, "Hey there, Osawa-san. I don't remember that you have any lecture to attend today, what business you have?" He asked with a smile, before shooting Hikari an alarming look, "Be careful." He merely said before walked away before he could ask anything else.

Moments later, Kazuo caught up with Hikari, "Oi, Hikari-san. Shall we go home?"

Hikari spent the next two hours doing homework, and eventually reading a book called 'The Samurai's Garden' that Akari had sent him a while back. It was in English, and ironically, the plot took place in Japan. So far it was pretty good, and it made for a nice pastime. After a while he got distracted with thoughts of a gift for Kazuo. It was difficult, since Hikari still didn't know a ton about his interests. I know he likes swimming, but I know nothing about swimming, and it seems impossible to find a gift for that kind of profession anyhow. He did tell me he likes cute things and books...perfect. Hikari smiled to himself and sat up, fishing his cell phone out of his bag to check the time. There wasn't long left 'till Kazuo's classes were finished. Perhaps I could gift him this book after I finish reading it. Or would it be more polite to buy a newer, neater copy of the book? And would Nakajima-san want it? XX
The train of thought continued on for a bit and then was popped as the alarm on Hikari's cell phone rang, signaling that there were only five minutes until Kazuo's class was finished. Gathering his things and carefully placing them in his bag, Hikari stood and made his way toward the school's front gate, which had quickly become his and Kazuo's meeting spot whenever they waited for each other or their other group members. I am glad Miki and I are able to have a relationship, I thought I would never see him again. We have different classes and would likely have left the dormitory at different times, so our paths may have never crossed if not for Nakajima-san and Takumi-san, even if we do live right next door to one another. How incredibly lucky I must be to have friends like them. Hikari smiled happily to himself as he approached the gate, pulling out his book to read while he waited. XXXX
It wasn't long before someone spoke to him, however it wasn't Kazuo like he was expecting, it instead being Okamoto, who came over with a smile. "Hey there, Osawa-san. I don't remember that you have any lecture to attend today, what business you have?" "Ah, I do not have any lectures, I simply came to spend some time in the school gardens. I also wouldn't want to worry anyone by being alone, seeing as the last time I was by myself, I got injured." Hikari explained, watching curiously as the older teacher's expression turned from a friendly grin into a look of alarm and almost dread. "Be careful." And then he was gone, leaving Hikari slightly confused. I wonder why it is that Okamoto-sensei is so concerned with my well-being... Before Hikari could think on it any longer, Kazuo arrived, smiling his usual heart-melting smile. "Oi, Hikari-san. Shall we go home?" XXX
The walk home was less quiet than when they had walked to school two hours earlier, and mostly consisted of Hikari trying to find the right words to ask to take photographs of Kazuo for his project without making it seem uncomfortable in any way. "I'm not really a huge fan of taking pictures of other people, but I can honestly say that you would be one of the very few exceptions, Kazuo-san, the only other exception being my sister. I would not ask if I didn't have to do a project on this, and there isn't really anyone else I feel wouldn't be even the slightest bit uncomfortable with the idea..." XX
Image

X I was thinking that we could have the whole press-crowd-chaos thing happen the next morning, when they're about to leave for Akihabara. It would be more
X appropriate timing since Akari is probably explaining the pregnancy situation around the same time that Hikari and Kazuo are getting home to the dormitory.

As both Kazuo and Hikari made their way back to the apartment, the conversation between them went on flowingly as usual. It had never been too difficult for Kazuo to speak freely with everyone around him, even though he hadn't got to know them for that long. It's always pleasant being able to talk to Hikari about everything he could come up with, so he still had no idea why everyone kept having such a scornful look towards him like that. When Hikari asked him about his project, Kazuo just grinned in reply, "Well, it's the first time someone ever asked me to have some pictures of mine taken. But of course, I wouldn't mind if it was you. Whenever you need, feel free to call me and I'm willing to be your model."

Actually, some of his fellow members of the Swimming club have the same major as Hikari and they asked him to be their model every now and then, saying that he looked really 'cool' when he swim. He was still hesitating with their request, but if it was Hikari, then he doesn't have too much of a problem. When they've made it back to their apartment, Kazuo offered to make lunch. He goes for something Japanese today and they talked about all sorts of things, about Hikari's project and what had happened in the morning when Kazuo was at school.

Takumi and Miki called him over their apartment to play video games. Kazuo was intended to ask Hikari if he wanted to come along, but it seemed that he's not too much of a big fan of games, and he seemed to be busy, as always, so he just went by himself. They played and talked about some trivial things. It seemed that Takumi had just found a nice place to hang out recently and tell the other two that they should go there sometimes when they are free. Seeing how much "bonding" they have been making over the past month, Kazuo couldn't help wondering when would they go out.

When it was 6:00PM, Kazuo bid goodbye to Hikari as he got work to do at Albrecht that night, with Takumi. He didn't want Hikari to concern over making dinner for him much, since it would be late when he return, but he knows he couldn't talk his roommate over it. It was another busy shift with customers bustling in and out. The clock stroke 9:30PM when Kyoka closed the shop. Hikari had probably been asleep when he made it back to their apartment, so he didn't disrupt him and instead finish the meal that he had prepared, before settling down for the night himself. He was looking forward to tomorrow.

"Well, it's the first time someone ever asked me to have some pictures of mine taken." Hikari was genuinely surprised. Surely someone would have asked, seeing how handsome and princely Nakajima-san is. It seems almost odd. "But of course, I wouldn't mind if it was you. Whenever you need, feel free to call me and I'm willing to be your model." Hikari felt himself blushing a bit, and felt elated at the fact that he was even a little bit special in Kazuo's mind. "I'm honored you feel so comfortable around me, I have to admit I'm still getting used to the feeling. And I'm actually surprised no one has asked you to model for them before, you'd think more people would want someone handsome like you to pose for photographs~" Hikari teased, laughing and going on to discuss what time would be good for working on the project. It wasn't a pressing matter, since the project itself wasn't due for another week, but Hikari was never the type to procrastinate and hoped to get the photographs taken as soon as possible so it could all be done with. XX
Still, I should wait until tomorrow. I can take some while we're in Akihabara, after I get a new lens. Hikari thought, slipping his shoes off and placing them neatly on the rack by the door before practically skipping into the house. He was definitely in a better mood, at least when compared to that morning. Kazuo offered to cook lunch this time, and Hikari didn't protest, simply nodding in acknowledgement and heading off to his room to put his things away. He didn't often need to carry his phone with him, and when he turned it on, he found a message from Akari, announcing that the family was about to have a meeting. The sentence was accompanied by a wink emoji and a photograph of Akari with their parents, her and their mother holding up peace signs while their father looked to be sighing - which was his normal state of being, since he lived with their fun-loving mother 24/7. XX
Hikari smiled at the photograph, making a mental note to have it printed and framed sometime. Setting his phone aside, Hikari returned to the kitchen, setting the table without a word. To an outsider, it would have seemed as if he and Kazuo had been living together for years with how easily they moved around one another in the kitchen, and how simple gestures could communicate a message. They sat down to eat and had a pleasant conversation. Hikari went through the details of the requirements of his photography project, expressing his usual distaste for photographing people because they often looked to be a completely different person outside of a photo. He told Kazuo about the book he'd read during that day's classes (conveniently leaving out that he wanted to give it as a gift) and about Okamoto's confrontation at the gate. "I suppose he is just a concerned teacher." XX
After lunch, Kazuo was requited by Takumi and Miki to play video games, and Hikari insisted on taking care of the dishes while the three did their thing. Hikari had never really played many video games so he probably would've simply sat there and watched, though he didn't mind the time alone to read. He bid goodbye to Kazuo and Takumi as they headed off to work, and to his surprise, Miki actually suggested they hang out - which ended with the two of them reading their own books in Hikari's dining room with The Phantom Of The Opera playing in the background. It was a familiar feeling, and Hikari found relief in the fact that he and Miki could still maintain a friendly relationship after all the nonsense that had happened in their youth. XX
Hikari and Miki cooked and ate together, chatting animatedly about their respective roommates and teasing each other about their attractions to said roommates. After the meal, Miki returned to his own dorm, and Hikari went to package Kazuo's share of dinner, glad that he'd been able to heal things with his ex-lover. It had taken a lot of regret and self-loathing off his chest. When he checked his phone again, Hikari found a missed call from Akari, and his heart rate sped up a bit. He called her back, and she answered on the first ring. "Michan! First of all, don't panic. You'll give yourself an asthma attack, and it would be over nothing." Hikari breathed in and out for a moment, and Akari gave him the time. "Nee-chan, how did the meeting go? Is everything still alright?" "Yeah, for now anyways. Obaa-san flipped her shit, of course, though we both anticipated that much." XX
"I suppose so. What did kaa-san and tou-san say?" Akari let out a belt of laughter, and Hikari moved the receiver away from his ear with a small smile. "Kaa-san is already talking about baby names! She wants to name the baby Akira because then its a pun, apparently. And tou-san tried to make me promise to make him the primary babysitter, but I told him you already stole the position~" The two went on to talk for another half hour, chatting about schools and being unemployed and about Hikari's upcoming visit during Winter break. Eventually, Hikari admitted to having a 'date' in the morning and reluctantly bid her goodbye, quietly accepting her demands for details on his trip to Akihibara with Kazuo. Such a nosy sister. XX
The next morning, Hikari got up bright and early, though still after Kazuo had left for his morning run. He turned on an extended version of Cancan by Offenbach, humming along with the music while he cooked breakfast. He finished a few minutes after Kazuo returned, and Hikari expressed his relief about their trip. "I have only been able to use my Polaroid camera, and while I do love it, I am glad to be able to get my digital camera fixed. I usually use the digital camera for school projects since the photographs can be of different sizes, and can capture more minute detail." Hikari continued to go on for a bit about the pros and cons of each camera before he realized he was ranting, apologizing to Kazuo with cheeks tinted a slight shade of pink. XX
After the meal was finished and the dishes were clean, Hikari gathered his things and the two headed out, chatting lightly about what else they should do while they were in Akihabara. "Nee-san told me about a new animated film that is showing in the theaters, perhaps we could-" The second he opened the lobby doors, Hikari was overwhelmed by a mass of people, shouting all at once and practically swarming around him and Kazuo. "What the-what's happening?!" Hikari shrunk closer to Kazuo out of instinct. With so many people speaking at once, it was difficult to understand what anyone was saying, but one reporter solved the issue by getting way too close. "Hikari-kun, what is your opinion on your sister's pregnancy?" XX
"W-What do you mean-" "How will your family react now that the heir is unfit to take over the Osawa business?" "She's not unfit-" "Hikari-kun, are you going to take her place?" "Would you suggest an abortion?" "What is the future of the Osawa family business?" More and more questions continued to flood in, and Hikari looked around frantically, trying to find a way out. He could feel his heart rate speeding up and he knew nothing good would come of staying put. Damn, I didn't even bring my inhaler! He tried to back away from the crowd, but they followed, moving even closer. Hikari's breathing became ragged, and everything around him started to blur. Shit... Just as one reporter moved to touch him, Hikari crouched low to the ground, clutching at his head with his hands and gasping for breath. Just count...just count and try to get through this...shit! XX

The night soon passed by as the morning approached. As usual, Kazuo had already gotten up early from bed and went out to have some exercises as usual. Sometimes, though, he did wonder how would Hikari replied if he asked him to go out and exercise him. The guy doesn't look like someone sporty, that's for sure. Hikari was one beautiful guy, but even more so if he has a little bit more muscle and gain a couple of few more weights. I couldn't just possibly say that to him though. He sheepishly thought as he continued to run through the deserted road towards the park.

When he had made it there, he saw that Tsubasa was there, working out like he always did every morning. It was nice to find a new working-out partner, since Takumi wasn't always a morning person, and getting him out of bed is a real pain. At least now there's Miki who's willing to look after him. The two of them exercised together and chatted away. Most of them are of what are happening around the university, and Tsubasa had just found out that Kazuo is working at Albrecht, along with Takumi, and gave him a slight warning that they'd better do their jobs well when his sister - Kyoko - is around, as she looks a lot stricter than she appears.

"Speaking of which, have you heard the news this morning? Apparently your roommate's family has been gaining a lot of attention ever since his sister returned to Japan." Tsubasa said while gulping his bottle of water.

Kazuo raised an eyebrow at what he had just heard, "I didn't listen to the news so I don't know. What's up?"

"It looked like she was abandoned by her yet-to-married lover and was gotten pregnanted by him. That sounds pretty scandalous to me though. Just hope that those nosy reporters and the press wouldn't follow the guy to our campus, or it's really going to be a big fuss." Tsubasa calmly said.

"Is that so..." Kazuo's expression suddenly become stern. He doesn't know much about the affairs of those from prestigious families like Hikari, but he didn't think that it would caused them such a big problem when something unpleasant was spilled. He needs to look after Hikari more from now on. The guy is already fragile to begin with, there's no way that he could possibly went through the stress of the flasing spotlights of the reporters.

When Kazuo returned, he tried to be as normal as he could, decided it was for the best not to bring such a sensitive matter up. He smiled and replied when Hikari happily talked about the newly repaired camera of his, "Well, I don't know much about taking photos and such, but I'm glad everything turned out well for you."

After finishing with the meal, the two of them made their way down the building, ready for their trip to Akihabara. However, the moment the door was swung opened, even Kazuo was blinded by the flashing light from the cameras of the reporters. But he was quick to realized that Hikari was beginning to stagger. Without even thinking, he stepped forward and hug him, thus shielding Hikari from the overwhelming sea of reporters trying to ask him countless of questions.

"Don't let him shaken too much, he's going to have an asthma attack!" Miki yelled as both he and Takumi ran down from upstairs and help shielding them from the reporters. But since they're clearly outnumbered, Kazuo didn't know if they would be trampled once the reporters walk in.

"Just look at this mess. Who gave you insolent people the rights to illegally trespassing the building under my jurisdiction and troubling my students like this?" A calm, yet cold voice spoke up from the amplifier from behind the crowd. All the intention was turned to the person who had just arrived, bringing along with him a group of hulky bodyguards. Seeing that, every reporter quickly stopped what they are doing once they've seen Kazuki.

"Now then, would each and everyone of you kindly leave?" He was smiling, yet it was clear that his voice is full of threats, "I don't want to ask my boy to knock a few teeth out of your mouth, and putting your publishers out of business this instant. I suppose none of you wanted to be made redundant, hmm?"

Upon hearing that, the reporters have no other choice but to take their leaves, and everything returned to its' order. They all watch the scene with amazement, and telling themselves that they should never mess with Kazuki. "Hikari-san, are you alright?! Hikari-san!" Kazuo asked worriedly as Hikari looked as if he was beginning to faint.

The feeling of Kazuo's arms around him just barely made it through the jumble in Hikari's mind, and he instinctively sunk into the man's hold, his hand clamped tightly over his ears in an attempt to block out the dozens of voices surrounding him. Everything was muffled, except for his breathing, and Hikari hated the sound. It was more wheezing than breathing, really. Squeezing his eyes shut, Hikari tried to envision the memory of Akari counting, passing the time until the attack subsided. He was completely ignorant of the chaos happening around him, stuck dealing with his own personal chaos. XX
Kazuo's voice was what brought Hikari out of his thoughts, where he was frantically counting from one to ten and trying to ignore the ugly sound of his breathing. "Hikari-san, are you alright?! Hikari-san!" Opening his eyes, Hikari blinked a few times at the light and doubled over, coughing up yellow mucus onto the floor, immediately feeling bad for whoever had to clean it up. With his airway cleared up a bit, his breathing steadied slightly, and he patted Kazuo's arm reassuringly. He still couldn't quite speak yet, and leaned into Kazuo for support, not wanting to faint or fall over and cause even more trouble for his friend. He them noticed Miki and Takumi, looking just as worried and concerned as Kazuo did. God, I'm such a burden... XXXXX
It took another couple of minutes for his breathing to even out, and Hikari stood, holding onto Kazuo's arm for stability and letting out a tired sigh. "I apologize for causing trouble. I haven't had an asthma attack that bad in several years, I thought I would be fine without my inhaler. I suppose I was wrong, huh?" He smiled, chuckling quietly. He looked down at the puddle of mucus on the floor in front of him and frowned. How disgusting... "I should probably find something to clean this up with, it'd be bad manners to make someone else do it when I'm the one who vomited all over the floor." Before he could go off in search of cleaning materials, Hikari's attention was drawn by the black-suited bodyguards standing not too far away. XX
"Don't you think its odd that whenever I've been in harm's way, Okamoto-san mysteriously arrives to save the day? Its as if he's a guardian angel..." Hikari watched their teacher directing reporters away from the building, no one daring defy him even if many did complain. It was impressive just how much influence Okamoto had on other people, whether it was college bullies or obsessive reporters. "I suppose I owe him, don't I. After all, he's saved me twice now, though I know Kazuo-san did most of the heavy lifting~" Hikari smiled up at Kazuo, knowing he'd been the one to carry him out of the crowd and back into the building. Kazuo had also been the one to bandage his wounds, a simple act which Hikari still felt tremendously grateful for. XX
At that moment, Hikari's phone rang, shrill and mildly obnoxious. He recognized the caller ID as Akari's and instantly knew what she was going to say when he picked up. "Ohayo, nee-san-" "Hikari! Are you okay?! You and Kazuo-kun were all over the news, but it got all blurry when that teacher-guy showed up. What happened exactly?!" "I'm not quite sure. Somehow the media became aware of your pregnancy, they came here asking questions and such. I had an asthma attack. But I'm alright, please don't worry! Kazuo-san helped out and I won't need a doctor or anything that drastic. But nee-san, how would the media know about your pregnancy? No one should be aware about it except our immediate family..." "I don't know Michan, but I'm glad you're okay. Are you sure you're going to be alright?" "Yes, nee-san. I'm not alone anymore, I promise I'll be okay." XX
Akari hung up, but not before making Hikari promise to call if anything else happened. Putting his phone away, Hikari smiled to his friends and sighed, feeling exhausted. "Its probably best that I go and rest, I don't think nee-san would forgive me if she found out I didn't. Thank you for helping, I appreciate it, greatly." Despite his growing need of a camera lens and having truly looked forward to their day at the Planetarium, Hikari was tired, and knew he should sleep in order to regain some of his strength. Taking Kazuo's hand in his, he followed Takumi and Miki back to the elevators, chatting idly with them as the group headed back to their floor. I'll have to thank Okamoto-san for his help, when I see him next. Hikari didn't let go of Kazuo's hand until they were back in their own apartment. Turning to Kazuo, he pressed a kiss to the taller man's cheek, smiling and saying nothing. XX
He then returned to his bedroom, silencing his cell phone and climbing into bed without bothering to even take of his coat. All he wanted to do was sleep the day away. Remembering his kiss to Kazuo, Hikari grinned from ear to ear, face growing pink as he laughed at how utterly silly it had been. XXXXX

Kazuo let out a sigh of relief as he watched Hikari managed to come round as the crowds of reporters slowly dispersed under Kazuki and his bodyguards' close watch. From behind, both Takumi and Miki also felt weights off their shoulder that things didn't get out of control, after all. "I'm glad you're okay." Kazuo expressed his relief as he helped his roommate to stand. Now he had finally understand the troubles that Hikari got to gone through almost every single day in his life. However, that doesn't mean Kazuo would abandon his friends.

He noticed the little mess that Hikari caused by throwing up, and was about to offer to clean it up, until Hikari insisted on cleaning it himself, stating that he didn't want to burden others by what he had caused. "It's not your fault that you were like this, you know. None of these is for you to blame. at least things are clearing up now, right?" He smiled to him, with the two others nodding from behind.

When the questions as of why Kazuki almost always show up whenever Hikari is in trouble, Miki shrugged as he cast his gaze outside, watching the commotions slowly died down and everyone back to minding their own business, "I suppose that for someone whose family comes second only to yours, it's not surprising of how much influence he had on the others. Probably best not to ever anger him..." He remarked while scratching the back of his head.

Moments later, Hikari received a phone call from his sister, and while he was busying answering the phone, Kazuki casually approached them, with his usual nonchalant smile. "That was quite a bit of a mess, don't you think? Was any of you gotten hurt by those pesky reporters then?"

The three of them shook his head as Kazuki tilted his head and grinned, "Don't worry about them. I've made sure that they won't be back. It seemed that I have to tighten up the security of this little building." With that said, the ambiguous lecturer turned his back, "I'm sure you all can take care of things, but just try no to run into troubles much, hmm? I'll anticipate each and every one of you to show up on Monday then. So long." He said before leaving through the door.

"That's so much for an outing then." Takumi shrugged as they all went back to their rooms to get some rest after an eventful morning. They weren't sure if it was safe to walk out from their apartment from now on, but since Kazuki probably will continue to keep a watchful eye on them, they can rest assure a bit.

"Well, you can rest now, I'll make somehting for you when-" Kazuo didn't manage to finish his sentence as they were walking through the door to get inside, as Hikari's sudden kiss had taken him aback. He widened his eyes at what happened as Hikari smiled and made his way into his room. The warm from the smaller guy's lips still linger on his cheek. For a short moment, he blushed, but quickly shook any indecent thoughts off his mind as he too retreated back to his room.

Hours passed by and they didn't say anything else to each other. When it was time for lunch, Kazuo walked quietly into the kitchen as not to wake his roommate up. He then decided to make some miso soup and a hot bowl of ground pork porridge. I hope there will be no more problems...

After a few more minutes spent reveling in the sight of Kazuo's face after the kiss, Hikari finally fell into a quiet slumber, sleeping throughout the afternoon and into the early evening. When he awoke, he left the room to find that Kazuo had already gone to work, leaving a goodbye note about leftovers from lunch. Hikari smiled at the gesture. I only hope I didn't worry him too much today. An asthma attack like that surely must have been traumatic to witness, even if it isn't quite so visibly appalling as a seizure or stroke. Hikari thought to himself, pulling out the leftover porridge and miso soup from the fridge and heating it up to eat. Kazuo himself was also a very good cook. If not even better than me. XX
Once he'd finished eating and washing the dishes Hikari found himself without much else to do. He'd already done all the classwork that needed to be done aside from his Photography project, which he needed Kazuo present in order to complete. The multitude of plant life in his apartment didn't need water too often, and he'd already watered once that week. He wasn't much one for television, and he didn't have a piano in the apartment, so there wasn't much to do except for reread one of the books he owned. I suppose this is how nee-san must feel when okaa-san and tou-san are away at work. I hope she's not too bored, in that house all alone. Of course, Akari wasn't entirely alone - their grandmother was likely at the house as well, though Hikari knew his sister would do everything in her power to avoid the dreadful woman. XXX
Hikari was saved from his impending boredom by a call from the lobby, letting him know there was a package at the front desk for him to receive. Pulling on his shoes and sweater, Hikari made his way down to the ground floor and retrieved the package from the management, taking the time to apologize for them having to clean up his vomit from that morning. The young girl tending the desk assured him it hadn't been that big of an issue, seeing as it was really only mucus and not any actual food. Hikari thanked her anyhow, and she waved him off with a polite smile he didn't often find among his schoolmates. Although, if she's working here, it's possible she isn't even a student at Tokyo Uni. XX
During the elevator ride back to his own floor, Hikari turned his attention to the package in his hands. It was undoubtedly from Akari, her oddly-sized English letters scrawling across the address label in bright green pen. The package itself wasn't very big, which meant it was likely only one item, and when Hikari lightly shook the package he could hear sounds of liquid splashing inside. I wonder what kind of odd American drink she's sent me this time. Hikari thought to himself, stepping out of the elevator and stopping to admire the view from the walkway. Tokyo was indeed beautiful, even if it was very different from the place he'd grown up. Hikari let out a small sigh and returned to the apartment. XXX
As it turned out, the 'odd American drink' Akari had sent through the mail was actually a carefully-packaged bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, a famous - and moderately expensive - American red wine. Hikari was amazed the bottle hadn't broken during the journey from the United States to Tokyo. The letter enclosed in the package was shorter than the ones Akari usually sent with her gifts, briefly explaining that she'd been given the wine as a present. Apparently she'd already owned an unopened bottle at the time and had decided to send the other bottle to him rather than let it collect dust during the next year it took for her to finish the other bottle. I wonder when I last drank any fine wine... XX
Hikari was terrible at holding his liquor, so by the time he'd finished his first glass, his cheeks were pink and his eyes half-lidded, a small, content smile seemingly permanent on his face. As it was already late into the evening, it wasn't too long before Kazuo returned home from work, and Hikari visibly brightened. "Kazuo, okaeri~" He called, waving from his place at the table. "Nee-san sent us some wine, expensive wine too. Some fancy brand from America, its quite good, you should come try some." Hikari giggled quietly, gesturing to the bottle of wine sat next to his own almost-empty glass on the table. It was obvious from the flirtatious tone of voice Hikari was tipsy, though not quite drunk. XX
Standing up in one slow, surprisingly graceful movement, Hikari smirked and took a few steps closer to Kazuo, reaching up to wrap his arms around the other man's neck. "You really are quite an attractive man. I doubt I'm the only one whose found myself in love." He said, cupping Kazuo's cheeks gently and pressing their lips together in a proper kiss, one that held a far different meaning than the kiss from that morning. XX

After finishing with the porridge and the miso soup, he wrapped both of them up by food wrappers and placed them in the refrigerator. It was a good thing that I did learn a couple of things from that sleazy dad of mine, rather than just having to watch him bringing strange people back home everyday. Kazuo sheepishly thought. He glanced towards Hikari's room, where his roommate is hopefully still resting, after all the rushes that had happened earlier this day. It's hard to believe that what was supposed to be a perfect day hanging out with each other would be ruined just like that. And Hikari has had to gone through it almost on a daily basis with no one by his side to defend him. This could only made Kazuo become more admire as of how resilient he is, despite his fragile appearance.

Suddenly, the earlier kiss he received just showed up on his mind again, and his face unconsciously reddened by the mere thought. Kazuo absolutely could not understand as of why Hikari just did that out of nowhere. It couldn't possibly be what he thought it was meant to be. Absolutely not. Perhaps it was merely a mean of showing gratitude, and that is what Kazuo tried to convince himself to believe for the moment, while looking for things to do in order to keep his mind off it. But he couldn't deny that he felt incredibly frustrating, at all that had happened.

Hours passed by and Hikari was seemingly still resting, so when it was time to head out for his job, Kazuo left a note and stuck it on the refrigerator to tell his roommate to heat up and just away without him. He was trying to focus when he was at work, kicking out a few molesters, yet it was quite obvious to Takumi that something had happened during the short amount of time that passed after the incidents that happened.

"Ka~zu~chan~" Takumi draped himself over his best friend as they have merely just finished their shift and was about to head back to the apartment, "Someone's been a little bit unfocused today, huh?"

"What does that possibly mean? I'm perfectly fine." Kazuo sighed as he pushed Takumi away, sometimes he can be a bit too perceptive that it was a bit annoying.

"Tsk tsk. You know you have never been a good liar. Everything's already written on your face that something did happen, eh?" Takumi sneered, "Does it have anything to do with Osawa-kun?"

"O-Of course it's not. You've been reading too much of those mangas, that's what it is." Kazuo tried to object, telling Takumi not to ask any other questions, "Let's just go back already. Today is already eventful enough."

"Hehe, Kazu-chan, sometimes you can be a real dork, but that's simply what made you a lot cuter." Takumi joked as they made their ways back.

Inserting his spare key into the lock, he pushed the door open, and the first thing he saw was unbelievable. Hikari was sitting at the table and drinking from a bottle of a rather expensive brand of wine. "Erm... hey there, Hikari-san. I'm home..." Seeing his roommate a lot more enthusiastic than usual was a not a common sight for him to behold. And gazing at Hikari - half-lidded eyes, reddened face, snoopy voice, there's no doubt that he was already tipsy. Hikari never told him that he was a good drinker either.

Before he could do or speak anything else though, Hikari suddenly stood up and walked up to him, stood on his toes to reach Kazuo's height, and pulled him into a kiss, again. His eyes widened in total surprise as his face turned even redder than a tomato. But he quickly shook any indecent thoughts in his head and Hikari to stood by his arm. Picking the bottle, Kazuo read the information written on the brand and saw that the alcoholic percentage is not low. "Geez, why would your sister sent you stuffs like this if she's known you're not too good with alcohols?" Kazuo said as he tried to take Hikari back to his room, "You should lay down, I'll make something to chill you out, otherwise you'll get a bad hangover-"

Suddenly, Kazuo stumbled as both of them fell. Kazuo managed to barely kept himself from landing with his face with his arms, "Sorry for that, you okay, Hika-" When he's snapped back, his face became even redder as he realized the awkward position they were in. Hikari was lying beneath him, and his two hands were resting just by the sides of his face, making the distance between them dangerously close.

"Hey guys, why did you two leave the door opened like that? Miki made a bit too much salad so would you-" And to make things even more embarrassing, Takumi just charged in from nowhere with a bowl of salad in his hand, and the blonde guy was literally petrified when he saw what was happening. "S-Sorry, didn't know you guys were busy." He laughed in a rather unconvincing manner while scratching the back of his head and winked at Kazuo, "I didn't know you were such a sleaky boy, Kazu-chan. Just... continue, okay? I'll pretend I've never saw what happened." He said and quickly retreated.

"Wait! It's not like..." Before Kazuo could finish his sentence though, Takumi had already been long gone. He let out a helpless sigh as he draped himself all over the floor next to Hikari. "And I thought things couldn't get any weirder today..."

Hikari doesn't react much to be gently pushed off to the side, simply watching with a half-smile as Kazuo comments on the alcohol content of the wine and questions Akari's competency as an older sister, obviously concerned despite the fact that Hikari feels absolutely elated. He's too intoxicated to wonder if the elation is genuine or just an expected side effect of being intoxicated. Either way, he's ehappy, and he curls his fingers around Kazuo's as he's led toward his bedroom, mouth quirking into a grin as the thoughts in his head only speak of how caring a roommate Kazuo is. Unfortunately, they don't get very far, as then Hikari's socks are slipping on the wood floor, pulling Kazuo down with him. XX
Hikari jolts with the pain of falling flat on his back and coughs a few times, catching his breath. He stares up at Kazuo, who is looming over him, face flushed pink and eyes blown wide, an expression that makes Hikari giggle. "Sorry for that, you okay, Hika-" Kazuo starts to apologize, but then stops, and Hikari follows his gaze to find Takumi standing in their still-open doorway, looking just as stunned as Kazuo had only moments prior. "S-Sorry, didn't know you guys were busy." Hikari just waves it off, not really having anything to say. "I didn't know you were such a sleaky boy, Kazu-chan. Just... continue, okay? I'll pretend I've never saw what happened." Takumi said, Kazuo trying to explain - but would anyone believe what he said, in this position? - though Takumi is gone before he can say much, the front door clicking shut behind him. XX
Hikari is still laughing at the whole debacle as Kazuo climbs off of him, flopping down on the wood floor by his side with a heavy sigh. "And I thought things couldn't get any weirder today..." Hikari props up on one elbow to meet Kazuo's gaze. "Well, clearly you thought wrong." He speaks through giggles, smiling with flushed cheeks. A moment passes by, and then Hikari yawns, scooting across the floor to lay even closer to Kazuo, resting his head on the man's chest and letting out a quiet sigh. "No one tells you how tired wine makes you. Tasted good though." He says, leaning up to kiss Kazuo on the cheek before settling back again, cuddling into Kazuo's side and passing out almost instantaneously. XX

[justify]Kazuo's body jerked a little as he felt his face becoming hotter and hotter as he felt Hikari's soft lips pressed against his cheek, and the fact that Hikari then nudged over him like a teddy bear couldn't helped it. He gulped, but then shook his head to clear all indecent thoughts in his mind off, before finally being able to get himself up and carried his roommate in his arms. Hikari was sleeping peacefully, with a smile still presented on his face, like everything that had happened that morning never occurred at all. He sighed. Alcohols really did make those who cannot stand them do crazy things.

He then took Hikari back into his room and placed him on his bed. He then went and soaked up a towel and helped Hikari to clean and freshened a bit, while loosing a few of his buttons to chill him off, as well as switching the AC into a more suitable temperature. After finishing with it, Hikari looked a bit better than the drunkard he was earlier. Smiling at the sleepy face of his roommate, Kazuo retreated back to his own bedroom and settled down for the night. Though it took him a little bit before he actually could fall asleep, as he reflected on the great deal of things that had happened that he barely could even digest them all yet even til now. Now he's hoping that the next morning, Hikari would be fine coping with his hangover.

And so, morning approached faster than he thought, Kazuo had gotten up earlier than usual, but instead of going out for morning exercises like usual, he figured that he should be staying by his friend. So he spent his time making some warm porridge, knowing that it is a good cure for the hangover headache.

While he is warming the porridge, he heard someone pressing the doorbell outside. It was, surprisingly, Miki. "Hey, Kazuo-kun. Didn't think you would have gotten up this early. You're making something?" He asked when he was allowed to step in the apartment.

"I'm making porridge for our sleeping beauty." Kazuo chuckled.

"You really are going to make a husband anyone would have died for, y'know that?" Miki teased and grinned as he took a seat, "Taku told me what happened last night."

"H-Has he?" Kazuo's face reddened up when the topic was brought up. It was certainly the last thing he wanted to hear right now, especially if it's coming from Hikari's ex.

"No worries. I heard that Hikari got pretty drunk, huh? Trust me, back then we both got involved in the same situation. He was pretty out of character after he is given alcohol of any kinds." Miki laughed and remarked, at which Kazuo let out a sigh of relief. "I wouldn't have minded if you two are really..." Miki muttered.

"Huh? You said something?"

"Nevermind." Miki shrugged, before standing up, "I'm just stopping by to see how he is holding up, but it seems that you two are doing just fine. Okamoto-sensei stopped by earlier and told me that the four of us are allowed to take a day off today too, so I figure we should chill off a bit after what happened yesterday."

"Is that so? That's some good news at last." Kazuo giggled.

"Well, I'm off. Gotta drag Taku out of bed. I'll see you guys later." Miki said and waltzed off Kazuo's apartment.

"Good luck with that." Kazuo teased, before pouring some porridge into a bowl and made his way to Hikari's room. He then knocked on the door, "Hikari-san, have you awoken yet?"

Upon hearing his roommate's reply, confirming him that he is allowed to walk inside, Kazuo smiled, "Well then, please excuse me. I made you something for breakfast and hopefully it will help you get better." One may be wondering why he is willing to go to such length to care for someone whom he had barely known for several months, but perhaps that was just the way he is. He loves taking care of others more than he would admit, and it is something most would consider to be both a charm and a weakness of his.

"You were pretty beaten up yesterday, any better now after your long night rest?" Kazuo asked and placed the porridge bowl on the table next to the bed. Hikari assured him that he is feeling not at his best, but not as bad as it was the day before, which was thankfully a relief for Kazuo. "That's good to hear. Well, you just have to take your time and chill out as much as you can today, okay? Miki-kun came over and told me that we're all excused for the day. At least a good thing out of this, don't you think?"

Hikari smiled as always before thanking Kazuo for the meal he had made. The topic of what had happened last night suddenly popped up in Kazuo's mind. What was happening back then was super awkward, and he figured that it would be best not to bring that up. He doesn't want Hikari to feel that he needs to take responsibility for it or anything, and it all can be put to blame on the alcohol. A part of Kazuo also admitted that some of it is also due to the fact that right now he himself doesn't really know how he should feel about it either. He had never been too closed with many people, but he would be lying if he says he wholeheartedly thought of Hikari in the way similar to Takumi and Miki.

Suddenly, Hikari spoke up and apologized for what had happened last night. Great, so he still remembers all of it. He quietly sighed. However, he found that it was rather surprising that Hikari was sorry not for what he did, but for the fact that he didn't ask for Kazuo's permission before he did. And the reason for the kiss yesterday was not only due to the alcohol, but for Hikari's own feelings as well.

It was a bit too much for Kazuo to take in all at once, and he can feel his face heating up. This is really the first time he was caught in a situation like this. But, when Hikari's face met with his own, he took a deep breath and gather his thoughts. "I... don't really know how I should feel. You are a good person, Hikari-san, but the reason was kind to you is because you are my friend. If it was about yesterday then I honestly don't mind. But, we have been facing a lot of things, aren't we?" Kazuo smiled, "So yeah, I agree that we all need time to sorts out how we feel, and that includes you too, don't you think?"

Kazuo then stood up, "Well, please have a lot of rest, Hikari-san. If you need anything, I won't be going anywhere today."
