Connor Hughes's Story

Victoria walked into school after yet another long summer break. She pulled the collar of her button up shirt to cover the hickey on her collarbone, then adjusted the elbow length sleeves to cover the bruise on her arm. Her and Donald had gotten into another argument the day before. The principal asked her to step into the office for a few minutes.

"There is a new student joining us this year. I need you to show him around since you know this school and its rules forward and backwards." The principal said.

"Sure thing. I'm gonna go to my locker real quick and I'll be right back to handle him." The principal nodded and Tori went down the hall to her locker. She put her bag in her locker, pulling out a notebook, and shutting it back. She walked back to the principal's office to wait for the new kid.

Connor walked into the building and sighed knowing he was far away from his home in Ohio. It had been a long trip and a lot of convincing to his parent but they finally let him rent an apartment and live on his own. Getting used to a new school would be hard for him to adjust to the new faces in this school.

He went to the principle's office where he saw her. She was beautiful, beyond anything had ever imagined to see. After the explanation of what she would be doing he nodded and held his hand out. "M-my name's C-connor Hughes. And you are Beu.." he stopped himself and looked down, hiding his blush. "So what's the classes then?" he asked shyly.

Kitty stormed in the school looking for her best friend. Instantly she spotted them, in the office. "Oh Tori" She sang as she walked in the office. She ignored all the glares she got from the administrative staff, and did a little twirl, "How do I look best friend?" She asked as the fringes still moved, even when she was done. Her eyes landed on Connor. "Oooo what a hottie! Did you dump your loser boyfriend?" She asked rolling her eyes, a smirk on her face. She obviously thought that Connor was Tori's new boyfriend. "Meowch! You go girl." She said with a laugh. She put an arm around her best friend and stared at the boy. "Looks like a guitarist." She murmured in the besties ear.

Tori took the scedule from Connor and smiled at his reaction to her. She didn't hear that much. "I'm Victoria, or Tori for short. It looks like we have the first 2 clasess together, then a few in the same hal as eachother, then lunch, a class together, and your last class is opposite the building from me. Maybe you will have a friend from that class before you even get there." Then Kit walked in and started ranting about Donald and making flirty noises with Connor. "No!" She said quickly. "I'm uh...just showing Connor around like I was TOLD to." She put extra emphasis on the word 'told.'

She sighed and sad "Connor this is Kitty. My very loud friend. You look great Kit." She went to hug her friend and her sleeve pushed up her arm, revealing her bruise. She didn't notice that her sleeve had moved.

Kit was obviously pissed, but Tori put it behind her, fixed her sleeve, and tried to help Connor the best she could. "Looks like you found your friend for last class." She smied nervously, trying to forget last night. She had walked in on Donald messing around with two other girls. They argued and he grabbed her arm tight enough to leave a bruise and had hit her. "Um, will you excuse me for a second. I need to go to the bathroom." She walked quickly out the door and across the hall to the bathroom, pulled out her phone, and typed in Donald's number. She stared at it for a few minutes, then pressed send. The phone rang and she held the phone to her ear, waiting for an answer.

Connor blushed dark red as "Kit" as he was told to call her said he was hot. He stood silent for almost the whole conversation listening to the girls as he started to space out slightly. So he had his first few classes with Tori which, was an blessing in his opinion and he had all his classes with Kit, which was bittersweet. On the upside, she was Tori's best friend which could allow him to get close to her then in turn Tori.

He saw the bruise on her arm and time seemed to stand still as his mind raced. That doesn't happen unless you're actually fighting someone. he thought and knew from firsthand experience since he was basically raised for fighting since he grew up with a family of four boys, and him being the oldest meant order had to be kept with a bit of fighting but nothing to bad. He knew how to make it hurt bad but he wouldn't dare do it to another person though which made it slightly useless.

Connor shook Kit's hand as she held it out and nodded. "I'm Connor Hughes, just call me Connor." he said with a faint smile then frowned as Tori ran off. In his mind he began to put two and two together with the bruise and Kit's comment. "H-Her Boyfriend. It was him wasn't it?" he said just loud enough for Kit to worry. "I don't mean to offend I just worry too much."

Tori put her phone up, took a deep breath, and headed to the office. She walked in, doing her best to look sick. "Kit..." She said in a pitiful voice. "Could you show Connor around? I think I have the flu or some bug. I need to go home and rest." She did her best to sound convincing. She doubted Kit would buy it, but she wasn't in charge and couldn't actually stop her from going home. She put her hand on her stomach for extra emphasis.

Connor sighed as Kat left him and she went with some girls. Usually he never minded this but now he was kind of at a stand still with it. He only knew two people so far here and one of them already left because she was sick. It wasn't healthy for him to worry but he had always done it always caring for children and this was making his instincts go aflare. He needed to go and try to talk to her but he couldn't really. "Hello I just met you but I think you need some help." he thought in his head then shook it out knowing that wouldn't even work on him.

He looked up at the board and sighed taking out a clean white binder completely empty except for white, blue lined paper. He knew the lesson since he had tried to cram over the summer incase they started at a different point but that didn't seem to happen and now thankfully, he could let his mind wander a bit knowing that he wouldn't have any school trouble for a few days.

He hunched over and acted like he was paying attention as he wrote. But, his mind went back to Tori. Something isn't well with her and Kit could tell him but she wasn't going to tell so quickly. He had to come up with a way for her to tell him less he would be in the dark on this whole problem.
