Victoria walked into school after yet another long summer break. She pulled the collar of her button up shirt to cover the hickey on her collarbone, then adjusted the elbow length sleeves to cover the bruise on her arm. Her and Donald had gotten into another argument the day before. The principal asked her to step into the office for a few minutes.

"There is a new student joining us this year. I need you to show him around since you know this school and its rules forward and backwards." The principal said.

"Sure thing. I'm gonna go to my locker real quick and I'll be right back to handle him." The principal nodded and Tori went down the hall to her locker. She put her bag in her locker, pulling out a notebook, and shutting it back. She walked back to the principal's office to wait for the new kid.

Connor walked into the building and sighed knowing he was far away from his home in Ohio. It had been a long trip and a lot of convincing to his parent but they finally let him rent an apartment and live on his own. Getting used to a new school would be hard for him to adjust to the new faces in this school.

He went to the principle's office where he saw her. She was beautiful, beyond anything had ever imagined to see. After the explanation of what she would be doing he nodded and held his hand out. "M-my name's C-connor Hughes. And you are Beu.." he stopped himself and looked down, hiding his blush. "So what's the classes then?" he asked shyly.

Kitty stormed in the school looking for her best friend. Instantly she spotted them, in the office. "Oh Tori" She sang as she walked in the office. She ignored all the glares she got from the administrative staff, and did a little twirl, "How do I look best friend?" She asked as the fringes still moved, even when she was done. Her eyes landed on Connor. "Oooo what a hottie! Did you dump your loser boyfriend?" She asked rolling her eyes, a smirk on her face. She obviously thought that Connor was Tori's new boyfriend. "Meowch! You go girl." She said with a laugh. She put an arm around her best friend and stared at the boy. "Looks like a guitarist." She murmured in the besties ear.

Tori took the scedule from Connor and smiled at his reaction to her. She didn't hear that much. "I'm Victoria, or Tori for short. It looks like we have the first 2 clasess together, then a few in the same hal as eachother, then lunch, a class together, and your last class is opposite the building from me. Maybe you will have a friend from that class before you even get there." Then Kit walked in and started ranting about Donald and making flirty noises with Connor. "No!" She said quickly. "I'm uh...just showing Connor around like I was TOLD to." She put extra emphasis on the word 'told.'

She sighed and sad "Connor this is Kitty. My very loud friend. You look great Kit." She went to hug her friend and her sleeve pushed up her arm, revealing her bruise. She didn't notice that her sleeve had moved.

Kit was obviously pissed, but Tori put it behind her, fixed her sleeve, and tried to help Connor the best she could. "Looks like you found your friend for last class." She smied nervously, trying to forget last night. She had walked in on Donald messing around with two other girls. They argued and he grabbed her arm tight enough to leave a bruise and had hit her. "Um, will you excuse me for a second. I need to go to the bathroom." She walked quickly out the door and across the hall to the bathroom, pulled out her phone, and typed in Donald's number. She stared at it for a few minutes, then pressed send. The phone rang and she held the phone to her ear, waiting for an answer.

Connor blushed dark red as "Kit" as he was told to call her said he was hot. He stood silent for almost the whole conversation listening to the girls as he started to space out slightly. So he had his first few classes with Tori which, was an blessing in his opinion and he had all his classes with Kit, which was bittersweet. On the upside, she was Tori's best friend which could allow him to get close to her then in turn Tori.

He saw the bruise on her arm and time seemed to stand still as his mind raced. That doesn't happen unless you're actually fighting someone. he thought and knew from firsthand experience since he was basically raised for fighting since he grew up with a family of four boys, and him being the oldest meant order had to be kept with a bit of fighting but nothing to bad. He knew how to make it hurt bad but he wouldn't dare do it to another person though which made it slightly useless.

Connor shook Kit's hand as she held it out and nodded. "I'm Connor Hughes, just call me Connor." he said with a faint smile then frowned as Tori ran off. In his mind he began to put two and two together with the bruise and Kit's comment. "H-Her Boyfriend. It was him wasn't it?" he said just loud enough for Kit to worry. "I don't mean to offend I just worry too much."

Donald was brusquely brought back to reality by his mobile's vibration in his hands. Victoria's picture was on the screen - she was calling him! Her smiling photograph, taken in less troubled times, seemed to mock him. I'll have to change that for one of your face after I beat it up, if you keep on throwing those tantrums, he thought, the anger of the preceding night boiling again inside him. Remembering the delicate situation he was in, he struggled to control himself, and contemplated his options. The red "decline" button was temptingly easy to press: one touch on the screen, and the inconvenient call would be gone. But that would be hiding from his problems - a coward's option, and Donald, pugilist and martial artist, could not be a coward. The call was a challenge, and challenges were meant to be accepted. Suddenly determined, he rushed to accept the incoming call before its time was over and Victoria thought he was running away from her, from a girl, and a mere high schooler on top of that.

Not quite sure what to expect, he put the phone to his ear and hesitated for a second. He did not want to sound like he was happy to talk to her, but neither did he want to make her angry and drive her to do something rash. Convinced that emulating his father's cold and formal tone when picking up business calls was the best option, he said "Donald Clark speaking", almost as if he did not know her at all, and waited.

Tori breathed deeply when he answered. "Donald. I...I'm sorry! I understand your point of view. I want to wait but you are older and have needs. I am not mad about the girls. You can have anyone you want over at your house. It IS your house after all." She tried to be calm and quiet, so passers by would not hear. Her voice, however, was shaky and out of breath. "Please. Let me make it up to you. I did not mean to yell last night." A single tear fell down the cheek opposite her phone. It dangled on her chin before falling to the floor. "Dinner? Your place? I'll cook. Anything you want." She mouthed the word please, but not a sound escaped her lips.

She held her breath until his voice came to the phone.

"Isn't that what you say every time?", Donald asked, sharply. "You start a fight about something stupid, then you apologize and pretend to regret it, but you're back to bitching and moaning in no time! Do you think you can control my life? A girl must keep her place." Deep down, he knew he was being unreasonable, but he could not help it. To him, a girlfriend who brought more stress than entertainment was like a burnout light bulb: an object that was not performing its primary function. When he looked at things that way, he was not sure why he was even dating Victoria at all. Yes, she was a pretty girl, but there were countless others out there. He had been with many older, more mature young women, who could relax and have a good time with him, to help him unwind after a long day of training. Girls who did not expect commitment. Girls who did not ask questions, who lived only in the present and could not care less about what he had done in the past or would do in the future. It was unlike him to be in a long-term relationship, especially with a girl like Victoria. He had already thought about breaking up, forgetting the time they had spent together and going back to his old life, but, somehow, he felt that he could not.

Those other girls were better than Victoria in many things, yet, when he met her for the first time, he realized they had all lacked something that she had. That was what had attracted him to her initially: she was innocent and sweet; her words were heartfelt, and her actions, earnest. Every little thing he said or did to her would make her happy, because she had not experienced that so many times it became dull. She probably had had another boyfriend before; Donald did not like thinking about that, and he had never asked. However, compared to the rather contemptuous "been there, done that" attitude of some girls he had met when it came to romance, Victoria was almost like a child who knew nothing of love whatsoever. With time, the magic started wearing out; he felt that she cared too much, and made too big a fuss about everything. Still, it was too late to let her go. He had grown to enjoy the power he had over her. She needed a strong man in her life after her father's early death, and that was a role he was playing, in a crooked and twisted way. Over no one else could he gain so much control, the ability to inspire a storm of emotions with only a word.

Yes... control. That was it. He knew what to ask of her. Not something cruel that could drive her away from him, but something that showed her who was in charge nevertheless. Nothing that could put her at risk, but nothing she would enjoy doing either. He smirked, his anger suddenly placated by the prospect of toying with her a bit. "I'll forgive you if you do just one little thing for me, to prove you're really sorry for what you did. I'm sure it won't be too hard for you." He made a pause, trying to picture her reaction. "You're at school, right?", he asked, glancing at the wall clock. "Too bad. I want you here. With me. Right now. You can do that, right? For me? But nobody's to know why you've left or where you've gone. It'll be... our little secret."

Tori was alsmost in tears when he asked her to leave school. She mustered a deep breath before replying. "I gotta show a new kid around, but Kit can handle that I guess. I can tell them I got sick, that I'm going home to rest. Give me 20 minutes to get my bag and ditch the new boy. I'll be right there. Anything else you want. Food? Drink?" She took another breath. She knew he rarely said yes to those, but she still felt the need to ask. His usual answer was one she could not fufill yet. Not until she was 18. He could go to jail for a long time if anyone had found out. And Kit was great at pulling secrets from Tori.

"That's a good girl", said Donald, sarcastically. He was so thrilled by having succeeded at making Victoria Smithson, the perfect student, miss class on the first day of school at his request that he was afraid she would hear his smile through the phone. He had never gone so far with her before. He might have been forward or daring in other occasions, but never in a way that directly affected such an important and public part of her life as school. If a teacher or her parents came to know of that, he would be in trouble, but, being a bit of a daredevil, the adrenaline rush that took over him every time he pushed a boundary made him completely unable to think of the possible consequences of his actions. "No need to bring anything, Tori; just come over. I'll be waiting." He hung up the phone before she could say anything more.

7:54, informed the bright digits on the mobile's screen. Her classes are about to start... and she won't be there, he thought, still savoring the idea. Donald yawned; he had not slept a wink that night. He went downstairs to the spacious wrap-around kitchen, shockingly clean and organized in comparison to his messy bedroom, to get an energy drink before showering. Let's see how long she takes to get here.

Tori put her phone up, took a deep breath, and headed to the office. She walked in, doing her best to look sick. "Kit..." She said in a pitiful voice. "Could you show Connor around? I think I have the flu or some bug. I need to go home and rest." She did her best to sound convincing. She doubted Kit would buy it, but she wasn't in charge and couldn't actually stop her from going home. She put her hand on her stomach for extra emphasis.

Tori walked slowly to the front door to be sure she looked sick, then, once out of view, she ran to her VW Bug. She quickly got her keys out of her purse, Then realized she left her backpack in her locker. Crap! Oh well...It is the first day after all. She checked the clock and noticed it was 10 minutes since she hung up the phone. I don't have time anyway. She slowly pulled out of the school lot, then did a few miles over the limit straight to Donald's house. She walked in 25 minutes after hanging up the phone. I'm late! Crap! Crap! Crap! She took a deep breath and said "I'm here."

Donald was sitting on a white bench in his small verandah, watching the road for Victoria's car. He was still not completely sure about her coming; the more he thought about it, the more it seemed that it had been too easy to convince her. With every passing minute, his certainty decreased. Losing heart at the last moment wouldn't be unlike her at all, he thought bitterly. But if she's making me wait here for nothing while sitting on the front desk of her classroom and watching class as if hadn't promised me anything, she's asking for trouble.

A light rain started falling, and some raindrops fell on Donald's arms, unprotected by his sleeveless T-shirt, through the railing that covered the front porch. Damn! Where is she? He took his mobile phone from his pocket and turned the screen on: 8:19 AM. She had had more than enough time. When he had just given up and gone back inside, he heard his girlfriend's voice: "I'm here".

"And it took you a long time", he complained as he turned to look at her. "Last time I checked, your school wasn't in Alabama." He walked up to her and put one arm around her waist, while brushing her hair behind her ear with his free hand. "But I'm glad you came all the same", he whispered before kissing her neck. He was not being sarcastic this time.

He looked in her eyes and moved his lips closer to hers, sliding his hands down her back until he reached her pockets and felt her mobile's vibration. At first, he chose to ignore it and keep on kissing her, but then a doubt popped into his head; she had taken a fairly long time to go from her school to his house, after all, and the two were only a few blocks away from each other. With the 8 AM traffic, she could have gotten there in half the time. And there were boys in the school; lots of them. New boys, even, since it was the first day after summer. And what was that she had said on the phone? He heard her voice again in his mind: I gotta show a new kid around, but Kit can handle that I guess... How blind could he be? She had met a new boy at school, liked him and had been messing around with him before leaving. Well, if she thinks she can get away with that, she's very, very wrong. He pushed her away abruptly. "Show me that text message", he demanded impertinently.

Tori hadn't even realized her phone had vibrated until Donald mentioned it. "Huh. Um ok." She pulled her phone out of her pocket and looked at it. 'A message from Kit' lit up the screen. She was hesitant to open as Kit knew everything that happened, especially that she wasn't sick. "It's just from Kit. She's probably just mad because I ditched the new kid on her." She turned the screen to face him so he could see that. She thought carefully before opening it. One wrong word and this day could turn horrible. "Do you still want me to open it?"

"I thought I had given you an order", barked Donald, taking the phone from Victoria's hands. Viewing the message required entering a password to unlock the device, but that was no impediment for him, as he had coaxed all of her passwords from her, or so he thought. His expression grew more and more displeased with every word he read. "A major loser", this Kit had called him, also accusing him of "always ruining" their fun. So, this was how he was seen among his girlfriend's friends? He felt his blood as if on fire inside his veins as he imagined Victoria and Kitty's chats; they were probably complaining about him, ridiculing him, turning him into their private - or, who knows?, the whole school's - laughing stock, and then Tori would come to him acting all sweet and romantic, fooling him into believing she actually felt something for him. He feared being cheated on, but this was almost as bad. You cannot respect someone when you laugh at them on their backs, and a man who was not respected was nothing. He also felt deceived: sure, he was unfaithful, and did not truly love his girlfriend, but he was older, and male; his idealization of Victoria as innocently devoted entirely to him, not daring to question any word or deed of his, has just begun to be obliterated, and the disproving of an old belief taken as true beyond a doubt can be shocking. Maybe he was mistaken in taking a friend's words for her own, but that moment, he started realizing that she was not completely under his control, and had power of her own to break free one day. Nothing was scarier to him than a girl with power.

"Explain this", he shouted, cursing and shoving the mobile nearly into her face. "Explain this so I won't have to call this number and ask your friend to explain it herself!"

Tori looked at the message. "Why do you always let him bully you into submission?! >:( We are supposed to be having fun! He ALWAYS ruins it.... such a major loser he is!" 'Oh Kit! What have you done!?' Tori stalled briefly before deciding the truth was best.

"She seems to think you are a bit...bossy... But I keep telling her that when you love someone, you do things you wouldn't think of doing. That you aren't bossy, you are just protecting me." Tori took a breath before continuing. "But what would she know about love. She hits on anything with male reproductive organs." She hadn't meant that, but she was sightly afraid of Donald right now. "She is just jealous...I spend more time with you than her."

For a moment, Donald was at a loss for words; he wanted to be mad at her, he wanted to shout at her and hit her as if, by doing that, his shame would go away, but she did have a point. Nothing in the text suggested that Tori agreed or even knew about her friend's feelings, and she did not look like someone who had just been caught red-handed. He might have imagined too much. Still, it would be unthinkable for him to turn back now, to meekly give in moments after shouting so madly and with so much certainty. He hesitated, wondering whether the best course of action was to just keep accusing her and be guiltily pleased by her desperate denials of something he knew, or hoped, her to be innocent of, when he was struck by a sudden realization that sent him into another fit of fury.

How did Kitty know? He had asked Victoria not to tell anyone, and he did not think that would be an easy thing to guess. Maybe her phone's speakers had been on - no, he would have heard the echo of his own voice that way, and more background noises. She blurted it out as soon as she hung up the phone, plain and simple, assumed Donald. Somehow, that felt just as much as betrayal as being ridiculed did. It was a rather important secret; he could get in trouble if the rumor spread, and if there was one thing you could expect in a high school was that rumors would spread. His girlfriend was a smart girl - far smarter than he was, in fact, which he was loath to admit -, and she had known that very well when she decided to confide that bit of information to her best friend. Kitty, Kitty... he rummaged his mind for that name. He did not know much about her. Victoria and she had been friends since way before they started dating, so he could remember hearing that name a few times, but it had never been anything substantial. Shopping, chatting, hanging out after school, those things girls did together. He was not even sure if he had ever met her. That was definitely not enough to determine whether she was the gossiping type. He would need to keep his eyes on that one from now on, and also push her away from Tori if he could. She sounded like someone who could brainwash her away from him if he did not act soon.

But it did not matter if "Kit" would inform anyone else or not, at least not as far as his judgement of Victoria was concerned. Regardless of the consequences, she had let someone else know about a private conversation of theirs and a request that he had explicitly called a secret, all that in an interval of ten minutes or less after the phone chat. That was unacceptable in and of itself. So that's why the little gossip was late, he supposed. And I fell for all that talk of pretending to be sick. He would not be surprised if the whole school, or even her parents, knew by now. For all he knew, they might have phoned the police already!

He was almost completely convinced of his hypothesis. The only thing that did not quite fit in was why Victoria would tell everyone if she was intending to come anyway. If she had just wanted him to get screwed, she would have simply informed the principal and got on with her business, letting the adults deal with the situation. But she had come, and was now right in front of him. Why would she bother missing class, responsible as she was? Perhaps it was only a trap. She wanted him to do something incriminating, so she could hand him to the police. There could be cops out there this very moment, waiting to break into his house and seize him. Or she could be recording their meeting. He would better proceed with caution.

"So", he began, trying to hold in his anger. "You blabbed."

Tori shook her head no, quickly and with fear. "No! She just..." She thought carefully how to word this. "That time when I was over here and uh hit my forehead on the corner of the table. She had showed up at my house out of no where and saw it. I kept telling her it was an accident and I was a klutz, and she dropped it. But then there was the bruise on my ribs, and my arm today. She doesn't belive I am clumsy anymore." She looked down and took deep breaths. She could feel his anger building, and knew she might soon have another bruise to lie about. Still staring at the ground, she said, "They were accidents. You didn't mean to. I know that. But she has to jump to conclusions."

"Oh, but of course", mocked Donald. "The first thing you imagine when a girl who has trouble with her boyfriend feels sick and leaves school is that this boyfriend told her to do it. A brilliant deduction! Sherlock Holmes' got nothing on this friend of yours." He sneered. "A pity your lying and faking abilities are no match to her logical thinking. Hey, maybe that was it - you suck at it so much you couldn't even pretend to be sick right", he said, feeling smart for being able to blame Kitty's discovery on Victoria even if she had not told her friend directly; as he was not a particularly bright young man, it was a small feat to him. What he really wished he could do was push her to the floor and and yell at her until she confessed, but he still suspected there might be police officers or at least someone brought by her out there, so he decided abusing her verbally was safer for now. "I wouldn't be surprised if you were such a bad actress, from the way you lie to me. Hell, when we fuck, you might not even be able to fake an orgasm if I ignore the filthy little desires I know you're hiding and do as I please!" He knew talking about sex so explicitly made her feel uncomfortable. It was inadvisable, given that he had not yet made sure that she was not recording the conversation, but the cruel pleasure of seeing the nervousness in her eyes increase made him think the risk was worth it.

And then he heard the car. His first impulse was to run and escape through the back door, as he feared it was the police. When he looked through the semi-transparent drapes on the window with the corner of his eye, though, what he saw was a black shadow, too big to be a police vehicle, driving in what he knew to be the direction of his garage. Mom, he thought, coming back home with the groceries. That made him only partly relieved. He was obviously glad he was not going to be arrested, and he was also assured that nobody was waiting outside, as his mother would have reacted to that in some way, but she could not know about his fights with Victoria, and especially not that he had forced her to come over from school while she was supposed to be in class. He pondered for a second and spoke, his voice almost a whisper.

"Upstairs. To my room. Don't talk. Just do. Now!" He dragged her by the arm to the bottom of the stairs to make sure she obeyed and gave her a light push in the direction of the steps. "When you get there, close the door. We'll talk later."

Victoria was on the verge of tears. She quickly ran up the stairs, holding her arm where he had grabbed her and pulled her. She thought of texting Kit, but then realized her phone was still downstairs with Donald. She knew where his room was and sat on the bed, pulling her knees to her chest and hiding her face. She took deep breaths, trying to calm herself down. Her nails dug into her skin on her arm, leaving almost permanent marks. She had never been so scared in her life.

Before he could sigh in relief, Donald felt something small in his hand. Victoria's mobile phone! He had been clutching it while they argued, but he had completely forgotten about it until now. He looked around for a place where he could put it away, and ended up hiding it inside the faux Chinese vase on the nearest end table. He quickly took the remote control from the white leather couch, turned the television on and lay down casually moments before his mother walked into the house holding multiple grocery bags.

"Donald! You're up this early?", she asked, with that annoying motherly smile that made him feel like a 4-year-old again. "And... watching a cooking show?" She raised a carefully plucked eyebrow and looked from him to the screen and back to him. Damn!, he cursed inside his mind. I forgot to change the channel!

"Well... yeah, I... No, actually... uhm..." He could feel his ears turning red. "There's... UFC after this...?"

"Before 9 AM?"

"It's a rerun", he lied, while the slim blond cook on television announced that the next program featured an interview with an off-Broadway actress.

"Hmm... Right." Her lips, covered in brownish red lipstick, curled into that smile again. She's not buying it.

"I'll help you with the groceries", he offered, and left for the garage, avoiding her eyes. He usually hated leaving home with his parents or being seen helping them outside the house, because he could feel his neighbors eyes on him, and he knew they all commented about that grown up man who still lived with his mother and father, but even that was better than having Mom talk about his new "interest" in that sort of TV show. While he brought the remaining bags in the trunk to the kitchen, he glanced aside to the second story. His bedroom's curtains were still drawn, and the lights inside seemed to be off. At least she didn't do anything that could give away her presence... so far.

"Carina called in sick today", his mother informed him as he placed the bags on the counter. Carina was their maid, a short girl of 20 Donald still had hopes of going to bed with. "You could clean your room today. If you can", she suggested hesitantly. She had clearly expected her son to react aggressively to the request, and was surprised when his eyes lighted up.

"Sure!", he exclaimed, barely allowing his mother to finish speaking. "If it's just for today, I mean", he added, trying to sound bored, so his gladness would not show through his voice.

"You're acting so unusually today", she commented as he turned to leave. You can't imagine how much, he thought, closing the door so he could snatch his girlfriend's phone from the vase before going upstairs.

As he climbed up the steps, he became suddenly aware of the fact that he had never cleaned his own room in his entire life, or at least during the last decade. He hoped Victoria would be able to help him figure out what to do with the sheets. But maybe he could wait outside a little bit before going in and look through the keyhole, just to see if she was not poking around...

Victoria had calmed down and was back to her normal self after a few minutes. She heard movement downstairs and sighed. At least he can't yell now... She laid her head on the pillow, trying to pass the time. There was something shiny under the dresser by the door. Maybe he dropped a watch or something. I should pick it up, just to be nice. She sat up and hopped off the bed. She put her head on the floor near the dresser and put her hand to the shiny object. Pulling it out, she realized it was not anything she had thought it was. It was a syringe, an empty one. Donald has a syringe!? What would he need that for!? At that moment she heard footsteps coming up the stairs. She dropped the syringe and quickly sat back on his bed. The syringe rolled out to the middle of the floor and Tori gasped. She didn't dare get up and put it back. She just prayed he would kick it under the bed without seeing it.

After looking through the keyhole for a few seconds, Donald decided there was nothing worth seeing there; Victoria was just sitting on his bed, not doing anything. He stood up and entered the room, trying to open the door as little as possible, so nobody who chanced to pass behind him would see her inside, even though his father had already left for work and his mother was downstairs. He locked the door, put his ear against it to check if there was anyone coming, and started walking toward her, speaking in a hushed voice.

"So, you want me to forgive you? Well, here's your chance. Clean my room. Make my bed, put away my clothes, just make everything look clean." He felt something small and rounded pressing against the sole of his shoe, almost making him trip. "I'll let you have your phone once you've..." After stooping to see what he had stepped on, he stammered and trailed off. For a moment, he seemed about to push Victoria out of the window, but he remembered his mother's presence in the kitchen and could only pick up the syringe with a grimace, faking a calmness that was quite the opposite of what he was feeling. "What do we have here?" He put her mobile in his pocket, sat next to her on the bed and started sliding the needle up her arm, carefully controlling his strength so he would not cut, but would get very close. "It looks like some sluts don't just gossip, they nose about other people's rooms too." After reaching her shoulder, he circled it a few times, leaving a very slight and thin white circular mark, and moved it slowly up the side of her neck. "Tell me, were you looking for anything particular?" He veered the tip of the needle to the front, right below her chin, and lifted her face with it, a trickle of blood appearing where the syringe had slid. His hand was shaking because of his repressed anger, and his eyes had a maniacal glint to them. "Or did you just want to see what you could find?" Pulling her hair, he turned her head to the side and put his lips almost inside her ear. He was tempted to shove the needle inside it and give her a punishment she would never forget, but her screaming would alert the whole street, and her parents would obviously notice and get him arrested, even if she did not. Instead, he whispered almost inaudibly: "Curiosity killed the cat, Tori... I expected you to know that".

Tori gasped when he stepped on the syringe. He picked it up and started towards her. The needle hurt against her skin, but she had learned to suck it up a while back. She also had not spoken. When he got to her neck, she shyed away some. Then it cut her and she winced. He yanked her head back by her hair, whispering in her ear and her heart almost stopped. He's going to kill me! she thought. She was so scared. She needed to leave, with or without her phone. She was aching to go straight to the school and find Kit, beg her to help. Donald did not know where Kit lived, only where Tori's house was. She had to get away or risk being killed. She figured her best bet now was to play good housewife. "I...' she stammered. "I noticed a few things on the floor, so I went to clean it up and that was sticking out from under the edge of the dresser. I thought maybe you dropped a watch or a pen or something and went to pick it up. I swear its the truth." Most of it was true. All of it except the 'few' part. It had been the only thing she had seen.
