Name:
Christopher John Rockefeller

Preferred Name:
Chris

Age:
27

Birthday:
June 13th

Sexuality:
Heterosexual

Occupation:
Chris is the founder and CEO of SWERVE Fitness, though he really doesn't deserve as much credit for it as he takes, given that his father financed the entire project and he has hired other people to do the majority of the actual work regarding the gym brand. He does some modeling, and is looking to become a solo artist.

History:
Chris' life has been a roller coaster ride. Many people would imagine that being born into a family who is known for their extensive wealth and long history of that wealth would be automatically handed an easy life. He was definitely born into privilege, and he wouldn't even try to deny that, but he made life difficult for himself. That's what his parents tell him, anyway. Being the oldest child, Chris was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, but a mountain of pressure on his back too. His father wanted him to be a mini-me. He was supposedly destined to take over the family company and continue the Rockefeller legacy. It was something that Chris heard nonstop, even as a kid and it didn't take long for him to get sick of it.

He was only fourteen when he started drinking. It started when his family was on a vacation in Europe, and some of his older cousins were doing it. It continued on that summer at home, when he began to steal liquor from his parents to drink with his friends. It got to a point where it was noticeable the next year, when he was attending high school parties, and even some college ones. Despite being a smart kids, his grades plummeted so badly that his parents had to make some extra donations to his private high school to keep him from being kicked out. He was wild, but being a rebel was something that felt right to him. Doing something he knew was wrong was better than doing what his parents felt was right, but what made him feel like he was living in hell. The drugs started when he was fifteen. It began with just marijuana, but led to ecstasy, cocaine, and some prescription pills when he could get his hands on them by the time that he was sixteen. His parents did his best to cover his activities up, but Chris wanted to make a statement. He wanted to distinguish himself from his stuffy, regal, overly-formal family, and he did just that. He still says that it was all worth it, but when he ended up in rehab three times between the ages of eighteen and twenty-two, he was second guessing that worth.

Since leaving rehab the third time, Chris is doing better, but that wild, party guy is who he is. It's something that will always be in him, and at twenty-five-years-old, he doesn't think he's old enough where he even needs to think about abandoning it yet. He tries to keep his partying down to a three day a week thing, but just like he was as a kid, when he starts going, it's hard to stop and running with extremely wealthy people who seem to be exempt from the law means that drugs are always at his fingertips. Sometimes, it's hard to say no. The difference between how he was as a kid and how he is now, is that rehab is no longer a threat to him. His parents used to use it as a weapon, saying that if he didn't go, they would cut him off financially. After his last stint in rehab, though, Chris vowed to never let that happen again. He began to take his modelling career more seriously and has really embraced his musical talents.

Secret(s):
  • He wishes that he had a better relationship with his parents, and feels guilty for hurting them/their image, even though he knows he shouldn't feel that way
  • Despite claiming to be sober in terms of drugs, he hasn't completely stopped used them at parties

Positive Traits:
Personable | Lively | Independent

Character Flaws:
Short tempered | Impulsive | Crude

Personality:
The personality that he shows the world involves him being reckless, impulsive, fun, and down for anything. He's a big party guy and for many years of his life, practically lived in the club scene every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. He'll tell you his only true loves in life are money, liquor, and sex, so it's not hard to tell that he's unfiltered, and practically the opposite of the prim and proper image that his family strives to maintain. Drugs, alcohol and girls are impossible for him to turn down, and he indulges in all three of them to the fullest extent. His parents say that he's selfish for living this life. It's probably the first word that they would use to describe him, right before disappointing and lazy. Sometimes he wonders if he is selfish. If he's really wrong for rebelling and being his own person and putting his family through so much turmoil. Most days, he doesn't care if it does equate to being selfish, because it's not something that he thinks of himself as being.

When mixed, the first two tend to bring out his short-tempered trait, so say something wrong to him when he's in that zone and you're likely to get a fist to the face. He gets bored of things and people easily, and despite constantly socializing and partying with lots of people, he doesn't have many close friends. He likes this young and wild Chris persona that he has, and he doesn't like letting many people past it. The Chris that is behind it is much softer though. He's goofy, kind, and surprisingly down to earth. He's the kind of guy who could be a good boyfriend if he didn't have commitment issues. Even the girls he sleeps with in just-sex relationships will sometimes wake up to find him making waffles (that will definitely end up burned to a crisp) for the two of them, or find that he had tossed their clothes into the laundry with his before they went to bed that night. He's not overtly romantic, but he does have that good nature in him, where he's at least courteous and a good friend to those people he cares about.

Likes:
Going to sports games | Working out | Surfing | Discovering new music | People with passion (for anything) | Crisp, clean bed sheets | Xbox | Vanilla Coke | Girls in lace underwear

Dislikes:
Motels | Rodents | Veal | Confined spaces | Christmas shopping | Rumors | Paparazzi | Riddles | Jigsaw puzzles | Gore | Sleeping past noon unless he's severely hungover

Fears:
He doesn't have any exceptionally unusual fears. They're really just the expected ones: becoming friendless, growing old, becoming sick to a point where he can't care for himself, overdosing, Michael Meyers and all of those other classic, horror movie themes.

Aspirations:
Career wise, he wants to become a solo artist, and is a pretty decent singer and guitar player. His upbringing has given him a lot of connections, and he's attempted to use them to further his career, but before he can even get his foot in the door, his parents shut the opportunity down with their own, much stronger connections.

Image
Image
Height:
6'1

Build:
Chris is visibly very fit and muscular. He does a lot of weight lifting and exercises regularly, and he's definitely proud of the shape he's in. It's the reason why he likes to go without a shirt more than he likes to wear one.

Hair color:
Brown

Eye color:
Green

Other:
He's been getting tattoos since he was eighteen, much to his parents' dismay. Both of his arms are covered in them, and he has a few scattered throughout the rest of his body as well.

So begins...

Villa Punta Mita is where the group of young celebrities will be spending the first week of their summer together. While many arrived last night, some arrived this morning, but given the amount of luxury that the rented home offers (courtesy of The Johnson Family), it's positive that none of them will want to leave by the time that July 2nd rolls around...

Brody and Chris were friends for many reasons, but the fact that they were both very into fitness had been one of the few things that continued to link them together in the modern day, where their interests were beginning to differ. For as long as Brody could remember, Chris was one of his best friends. They went to school together, grew up hanging out with the same friends, and had fun partying and living it up after high school. Although Brody was pretty content with indulging in alcohol and girls during college, enough so, that he neglected school to a point that he genuinely regrets now, it's clear to him now, that even when he acted like that, he was still different than Chris. He still got his college degree, he never ended up in rehab once, nonetheless three times, and he was never truly out of control like his childhood best friend was. What baffled Brody, was how Chris got to that point. When they were partying together, it was easy for Brody to assume that Chris was just as in control as him. Sure, he knew his friend had a more relaxed vision for his life than Brody did, but he expected Chris to get a grip on his life at some point.

Strangely, Brody still isn't sure, to this day, if Chris has actually grown up. He's proud of him for founding SWERVE, and the success that his gyms are having in Manhattan, but anyone who knows Chris knows that it isn't his blood, sweat and tears behind that. It's the effort of some guy Chris' father hired, that's making Chris' business a success. Though Brody would never delve into the topic with Chris, he thought that it was pretty obvious that the Rockefellers were probably at a point where they were embarrassed at the lack of drive that their son possessed, so putting together this facade under his name was their last option at preserving the family's image in regards to their firstborn. Though it was an act that would sell to most of the world, since Chris' interest in physical health was probably enough to sell the idea that he was running this, to the general public, Brody could laugh out loud at the idea of Chris constructing business plans, working out deals with vendors, and so on. Although he was well aware that he and Chris had grown apart, compared to where they stood ten years ago, Brody was hopeful that this summer would bring them back to where they used to be in their friendship. He missed the good times he used to have with Chris.

Though he had his headphones on for most of it, Brody felt like spending the first few hours of the morning working out with Chris in the fitness center was a good way to start the trip. He had arrived late last night, so he hadn't had much time for socializing before crashing in bed, and was excited to see what everyone else in the house was up to now... or after he showered. That was his first stop once they got back to the main area of the villa, and once he was finished with that, he texted the others while getting dressed.

To: Nicki
Reminder that if anything goes wrong on this trip, you're gonna get blamed for it ;). No pressure. On that note... what's for lunch? After spending 3 hours out-lifting Rockefeller, I've worked up a pretty decent appetite.

To: Kendall, Kylie
You two get here alright?

Lunch is ready

Once those texts were about to be sent, Nicki hesitated, briefly, when it was time to add people to the group that she sent a text to. It probably went without saying that she hadn't needed to send a text to anyone about lunch being ready to be served; a few staff members went out to announce it. However, it was Nicki's own small way of showing her love that the text was sent. She didn't always text EJ just because she felt as though it wouldn't take but a second for the smell of food to waft to his nose for the kid to make his way rather comfortably to the nearest kitchen to be fed. Ariana was just a topic she didn't want to broach at the moment and she never text Kylie in the first place. Chris, though, made her pause. She was pretty certain that he did not know she had caught him with Kylie about a month ago...just after he had confessed to having non-platonic feelings for her. The unwanted memory was still jarring enough to make Nicki feel antagonistic enough to not even acknowledge him, at first. But that was always easier said than done when it came to Chris, their friendship, and her more than real feelings for him...

Nicki stood before the spacious fridge for a moment longer than necessary, allowing the cool air to envelop her as she hugged herself in thought, before shaking her head and checking on the bittersweet chocolate cremeux she had prepared last night so that it could be cold and set for lunch. Nicki didn't have any formal training in cooking, that much was certain. She was too wrapped up environmental science, real estate, and being a bit of a nerd for all of that. But her household differed from everyone else's, she believed, in that her mother taught her to enjoy cooking. They had staff to do it, sure, who could very well do their jobs. At the same time, Nicki learned to appreciate the busy work of cooking and working on more than one task at a time. It had been invigorating, as a child, to realize that her hands could come up with something that her mouth would definitely be pleased by, and it was even more satisfying when the meal came out looking pretty or someone was happy with what she made. But she didn't do the meal alone. Last night, since most people were just arriving (herself included), nothing too extreme needed to be made. However, with everyone staying here and this being the official first day of their vacation together, Nicki figured that grudges could be put aside for her to help in preparing a meal for everyone. By the time Brody had text her, the roast chicken - which had been brushed in duck fat prior to roasting, with fennel panzanella had just been garnished with the last of the escarole, the fresh summer salad with berries had been tossed, and the other chefs in the room were topping the brie and red pepper crostini.

"Paul Cluver Elgin, Miss?" Gerard inquired, holding out a glass with the aforementioned Sauvignon blanc already inside. Nicki smiled graciously and accepted the class, murmuring, "Thank you, Gerard." She sipped the bright, crisp wine, savoring the notes of grapefruit and passion fruit along with the underlying flintiness from the mineral-rich soil of South Africa where the wine had been made. Tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear that had escaped the messy bun she had tossed all of it into, Nicki finally decided to step out onto the veranda closest to the kitchen, which was complete with a sitting area and access to the pool. The very pool Andre had decided to swim a few laps in. Shaking her head, Nicki comfortably folded her arms over her chest before calling out, "Dre! Lunch is ready!"

Andre didn't spend all of his time inside of a gym nor on the courts like his father would have liked. While he was decent enough to be scouted young, at the end of the day, Andre had never been passionate enough about the sport to care to improve. He definitely had a good jump shot, as his father had stated. His stature and build helped immensely when he did play with friends or even some of the players his father had introduced him to. But Andre did like maintaining his build, a habit his little sister made sure to tease him for being very much like a girl for. Nevertheless, though, he didn't feel the need to spend his time in the gym for it. Machines and closed rooms just didn't always inspire him to want to work out, not to the same extent that he knew Brody and Christopher could. Andre got his fitness in weight-lifting, sure, but also hiking, swimming, sprinting, boxing, and a host of other activities that kept him interested while keeping him active. So, it was safe to say that once had squared a few things away back in California, it honestly would come to the surprise of no one who knew him that Andre would be quick to strip off his other clothes, find the first pair of swim shorts he could, and throw himself into almost an hour and a half of swimming in the pool.

"I should've realized you had ear plugs in," Onika stated, amused, as she walked to the pool's edge where Andre began stretching. The offending earpieces sat on the ground. Andre grinned at her, observed her face, and then frowned from his plank position. "And I thought we agreed that you would stop that." Nicki's brow furrowed ever-so-slightly and Andre rolled his eyes, maneuvering himself into a seated position, arms crossed over his knees. "You're doing the face." If he wasn't wet and his phone wasn't currently off, Andre would've already snapped the pic of Onika's confused blush and her mouth, which opened and closed in consternation.

"I'm n-not...I m-mean, I don't - " Andre sighed, cutting her off. "You are and we talked about this," he said calmly, rising to his feet. Biting her lower lip, Nicki sipped a bit more of her wine and Andre shook his head, drying off with the towel that sat beside his phone. Once he felt adequately dried for the time, he wrapped the stark white, fluffy thing around his shoulders before meeting his sister's gaze. "You're nervous. About all of this. It makes sense, but..." He paused just to pick up his phone and turn it on, smirking at the annoyance for how long the pause lasted. "But you've gotta deal, Nika. Everyone's trying to have a fun summer and if something comes up, I'll deal with it." She rolled her eyes. "Of course, you will," she agreed, voice soft. Her gaze turned assessing, briefly, and then Nicki was fixing him with a sharp look, though it was softened by the worry he knew she still held. "Just...don't take anything too far this summer, ok? I can handle Ariana, if it comes to it. Just...don't, ok?" Andre chuckled lowly and took the few steps it took to stand side by side with his little sister. "No promises," he replied and Nicki punched his shoulder with a quiet, "Jerk," before walking back onto the veranda and into the house so that she could return to the kitchen, Andre not too far behind her.

Like Brody, after spending a few hours in the gym, Chris hit the shower, and following that, all that was on his mind was food. Or that was true, at least, until he headed down the hallway and happened to pass by a bedroom with an open door, only to get a glance of Kylie standing inside in front of a mirror. A grin spread across his face, reflecting the pure amusement he felt as he watched her take a picture of herself in the mirror, unaware of his presence for that moment. He could have kept watching until he ended up snickering aloud and forcing his presence to be uncovered, but he opted against that, and as he leaned against the doorway, he said, "Look who finally showed up. I thought you were gonna second guess all of this, remember that you're too good for us common folk, and bail at the last minute." As far as Christopher knew, no one knew about him and Kylie sleeping together a handful of times over the past few months. He didn't know that Nicki had actually walked in on them doing it, and he didn't know that Kylie had confided in Kendall about it, either. He figured that he would have known by now if anyone important knew, like Nicki or Brody, so he was still feeling confident, and brazen, even, about flirting with her in places where he had a chance of being caught. He was in the mindset where no one other than the two of them knew anything, so no one had any reason to be suspicious or think that he was talking to her in anything other than an innocent way.

The only reason why Kylie's door was open to begin with, was because she had already left her bedroom once to start going downstairs for lunch, only to realize that she had forgotten her phone in her room, so she returned, and after catching a glimpse of herself in the mirror, she couldn't resist taking a selfie only because the lighting in the room right now was too good to turn down. It wasn't an Instagram-worthy picture, that was for sure, but she would save it in her camera roll anyway. Had Christopher not startled her, she probably would have spent another five minutes trying to find the perfect angle, but she nearly dropped her phone in surprise when he spoke up. She regained her composure, walking over to him slowing. With a small smirk of her own, she admitted, "Can't say it didn't cross my mind, but my family's got enough drama going on right now. Didn't need to hand Kendall a reason to start World War III on top of everything else."

"Well, then remind me to thank Kendall, because I don't think I would've done well on the trip going through Kylie withdrawals." He was being cheesy, but purposely so as he remained standing in the frame of the door. It didn't surprise him that Kylie would have tried backing out of the trip, which was why he brought it up. He was friends with Kylie, but the extent of their friendship wasn't public, so that probably didn't count. She had Kendall, and EJ and Grace, and that was more than enough fun there, but he knew Kylie. She liked her other friends, back in LA. She liked being able to jet from Los Angeles to New York, and then to Miami, on a whim, or because someone had pissed her off and she needed to escape and be reckless. Kendall was no Ariana, but a part of Chris felt like he understood how Kylie wanted to have a separate life from her family sometimes, with friends that were only hers, and no one else's. Nonetheless, he was glad that she was here. It would give his reckless side something to thrive on for the week.

"Save it, Chris. I don't think your hoe-stess would appreciate hearing that kind of talk," Kylie said, rolling her eyes as she pressed her hand against his bare chest to push him out of her way, so she could step into the hallway. Though she wished it wasn't there, her smile was still on her face, as it was impossible for her to not feel a bit elated, maybe even exhilarated, flirting with Chris like this. There was no denying that Kylie was attracted to him. Honestly, if she wasn't actually hungry, she could have pulled him into her room right then, just to get him to shut up for the moment. Regardless of the physical attraction, though, she didn't love him. Chris was attractive, but he also represented something else to Kylie. He was someone that she wasn't supposed to be allowed to have, so having him, given that, was what really turned her on.

"Hey, don't bring Andre into this. He might be a little promiscuous, but let the man live," Chris said, knowing perfectly well that Kylie was talking about Nicki. The only way that he could properly respond to that was to maintain his playful attitude right now, because he knew that Kylie was actually right when she said that Nicki probably wouldn't be keen on him acting like the success of this week depended on Kylie's presence. In reality, it didn't depend on Kylie's presence, and Chris knew that. He could have just as good of a time without the Jenner there, but with her here, it would be extra fun. Onika was a topic for a different time, one when Chris was feeling more serious and thoughtful, and getting on that level about her would definitely never happen to Kylie.

"You're so annoying," was all that Kylie said to him as she purposely took the lead in walking downstairs, and into the kitchen. She was surprised to see that so many people were already in there, even though the surprise wasn't really well-warranted, given that the staff had made the lunch announcement at least five or ten minutes ago. "Hi," she said, opting for a mass greeting, and ignoring how forced and awkward it came out as she put on a smile, abandoning Chris as she made her way towards Grace and Kendall, to check out the food.

Kylie's minimal greeting made him want to comment on that, but he opted to antagonize Nicki instead, mostly because he missed her... and doing it to her. "Really? A glass of wine, Nicki? Are we in a vineyard of Italy, or in fucking Mexico? Maybe us Rocekefellers just aren't as classy as you Johnsons, because I know that whenever Ariana gets her ass down here, she's gonna remind you all of how the Rockefellers live life in Mexico, and want a shot of tequila, A-S-A-P," he said, though anyone who knew Ariana knew that that was probably the last thing she would ask for. "Scotty Boy, my man, I know you and Blondie know what being in Mexico entails, yeah?" he said, enjoying himself too much, indirectly at Nicki's expense, as he greeted Scott with a pat on the back. "Tequila shots to kick off this summer, or are you too much of a bitch?" he said, playfully provoking the guy that Chris knew couldn't back down from a challenge.

Grace couldn't resist blowing Andre a kiss to add to their playful flirtations, especially once Nicki made it perfectly clear that she wasn't quite a fan of the show they were making. To Grace, that only meant be even more obnoxious with it, but Scott came in, followed by Christopher and Kylie, so Grace couldn't quite play it up as well as she wanted to. That was no problem, though. They had alllllllll summer for that kind of mischief. "Watch yourself, Rockefeller. Us Eastwoods can out drink seasoned alcoholics," she warned aloud, though with little seriousness behind her words, before she turned back to the girls to speak to them more directly, rather than to the group as a whole. "I'll do a shot if we're doing the whole toast-to-summer kinda thing, but I could go for a nice glass of white wine with this lunch," she said, as she followed Andre and Kendall's lead in grabbing a plate to start eating.

She instinctively grabbed one for Kylie too, handing it to her as she instantly noticed the almost uncomfortable vibe that the girl came in with. Grace was not going to allow that vibe to stick around, but she wasn't going to address it specifically yet. Instead, she raised her voice a touch now, looking at Nicki with the best serious and annoyed expression that she could muster up as she added, "That is, if Nicki would stop hoarding the wine for herself. You're probably one of the seasoned alcoholics I was referring to. You're lucky that you're pretty on the inside, because I'm sure by now, your liver is an ugly little mess, my love." Grace was absolutely talking out of her ass at this point, because it was nearly common knowledge that Nicki was one of the more responsible ones within their group. Grace could definitely give her credit for being more easily influenced into having fun than Kendall, but she still wasn't even comparable to an alcoholic, in terms of drinking that heavily and regularly. "Where's my baby EJ?" she asked, looking to Kylie as if she would somehow know better than Nicki or Andre. She was curious about where Ariana and Brody were too, but since they were both missing, she just instantly assumed they were together, even though she knew about their breakup. Plus, she didn't really care about where Ariana was, and she was sure that Brody could fend for himself, wherever he was.

When Andre would - eventually because it was bound to happen now that they were all going to be trapped in vacation home after vacation home together - find out about Christopher and Kylie, and that being one of the reasons why Onika was where she was with Brody currently, he was going to feel a bit more rightfully assertive in his already profound protectiveness over her when it came to the eldest Rockefeller. He had never supported the close friendship his sister had formed with the guy, citing Chris' reckless and near suicidal behavior as a reference for his distaste. He was a bad influence and even if Nicki herself had an outstanding level of self-control, it didn't matter to Andre. Chris, more than even Grace sometimes, fueled her impulsive tendencies. More than that, though, was Andre's distrust for the way her gaze would linger on the male, the stirrings of longing he wished he would have been able to cut short the second they had arisen. Especially considering the fact that the guy in question hardly seemed worthy of Nicki or even like he was interested in what she would want, which was a relationship. Nicki didn't do flings and Andre wished she didn't do Christopher Rockefeller, but that was for another day. For now, though, he wasn't being antagonistic towards Chris when the man arrived, but he also wasn't oblivious to the fact that his sister's frame went frigid when she saw him. He couldn't tell if Kendall had noticed because she had already released Nicki and he wasn't banking on anyone else paying attention Andre didn't make a face nor do anything spectacular, like immediately demand what the fuck had happened, but he did pointedly grab a clean plate and take two large steps to his sister, preferring it to her with a silent demand before she could even request a refill of her wine. Taking it, Nicki beamed at Grace, not even bothering to acknowledge Chris nor Kylie's meager greeting. All she saw when she looked at either of them was her own heart breaking and now was not the time to cry again, especially over someone who obviously didn't care. Faintly, she wondered what was taking Brody so long.

"All of this coming from the chick who likes to hoard Kendall on a regular basis," she replied cheekily, casually beginning to fill her plate by grabbing onto a few crostinis. "You're lucky you're the cute one cuz I don't know how this friendship would have lasted otherwise." It wasn't an actual meal yet, but she figured that the piercing stare her brother had given her a moment ago would dissipate if she at least looked like she was going to eat something. It wasn't her fault that her appetite diminished a bit when her stomach dropped at the first sight of Christopher and Kylie together. Andre caught Gerard's eye, who was already bringing out another bottle of the wine Nicki was drinking. He hadn't put away the first one, either. "You heard the man, G," he exclaimed, relaxing his own frame now that he had a plate of food. "Bring on the tequila. Us Johnsons apparently have a reputation to protect." The staff member nodded and started instructing a few of the servers. Contrary to popular belief, Andre was very much capable of letting loose and having fun. He just didn't do it in the near image-ruining and honestly self-destructive ways that both Scott and Chris seemed to enjoy doing it. He could drink with the best of them and party as hard, if he so pleased. He just wasn't pressed to burn a hole through his liver or rack up as many DUIs as a few of his counterparts.

Neither of the siblings bothered to even answer Grace about EJ's whereabouts, mostly because Andre didn't care now that he had text his baby brother and also because Nicki wasn't paying attention. She was too busy sidling past a still browsing Kendall to get one of the smallest pieces of chicken along with some of the fennel panzanella. "We've got all week to be cooped up inside. Let's eat outside," she told Kendall meanwhile. She felt unsafe and like she wasn't getting enough air in the kitchen, and the veranda had a nice sized table for her guests. Perhaps Nicki was being a bit dramatic, but at least she wasn't loud with her discomfort. And it was always easy for her to put on a big enough smile to fool even her mother. Her stomach still churned uncomfortably and she felt less inclined to eat, but it would be too obvious if she didn't. Plus, Nicki wasn't the greatest liar in the house; she wasn't sure, especially with how fragile she suddenly felt, that she could pull of saying that she had eaten enough at breakfast. Especially with Andre being the only one who knew that she didn't. As if he sensed her displeasure, Nicki felt her other hand have some added weight and when she glanced to it, Gerard had filled her practically empty glass with more wine. She smiled, a little too grateful to have more alcohol in her belly. "Thanks, love. Bring the shots out on the veranda." With her other hand about to scoop some of the summer salad on her plate, a meager portion, Nicki set her wine glass down to pull out her phone and text Brody.

She did feel like Brody was despicable, but of course, it wasn’t a fair use of words. She had cheated just like he had, but somehow, her doing it was different. For one, hers was with someone that he didn’t know. He would never meet the guy who was an old family friend of the Rockefellers, because Ariana had always been careful, no- considerate enough to never invite him to any event that she and Brody would be at. Brody slept with someone who could technically be considered a mutual friend of theirs, even if she and Onika definitely weren’t friends. Their families were friends, and that counted enough in itself for his infidelity to feel like even more of a slap in the face than it would have been, if he had slept with someone who was a stranger to Ariana. At least then, she would have been able to convince herself that the girl was some no-good slut, who was unsuccessful in every aspect of her life. She knew Nicki, and she knew that wasn’t true, so there was no use in trying to convince herself of that just to make herself feel better. Additionally, though Brody insisted that them sleeping together had only occurred once, now Ariana was left to wonder how true that even was. How many times had she left Brody alone in a room with Nicki, thinking nothing of it? What else could have happened, that he wasn’t confessing to now? Although Brody and Ariana had essentially admitted to the same thing, therefore, it was like a tit for a tat, Ariana still felt humiliated and betrayed. A lot of her anger was focused on Brody, but she wouldn’t have been human if she didn’t feel some sort of disgust for Nicki too. She was a homewrecker, whether the home was already unstable before she wrecked it or not.

With all of that said, Ariana was committed to at least trying to be civil towards everyone this summer, regardless of how she truly felt. She was Ariana Rockefeller, and a major aspect of being someone who was so composed and perfect in their reputation, meant that she couldn’t be too callous, or immature, or hateful in very obvious ways. She had to seem unbothered by the actions of unimportant people, even if it was only an act. That was why she entered the kitchen with a smile on her face, glad to see that Christopher was present and not somehow already getting himself into trouble, and unknowingly glad that she hadn’t heard the words that had come out of his mouth just a few seconds before. β€œHi, everyone,” she smiled, taking in the scene in the kitchen. It seemed like everyone other than Brody and EJ were there, and regardless of the vast size of the house and kitchen in itself, she was glad that her twin sister Colette, and younger brother, had opted out of this summer trip, because she was already feeling overwhelmed at the size of the group here. A part of it was probably that she wasn’t particularly fond of Nicki right now (or ever), and how she wasn’t close friends with Grace either. That added two potential enemies to her list, and given where she and Brody stood right now, it was easy to make that a list of three. Notably, though, she wasn’t going to allow her breakup with Brody to sour the light that she viewed Kendall and Kylie in. Kendall was a good girl, a compatible friend for Ariana, and though Kylie was a bit more of a problem child, Ariana had always just seen her as being a work in progress. She wasn’t going to abandon that project just because her brother couldn’t keep his dick in his pants. When one of the staff workers in the kitchen offered her a glass of wine, Ariana gladly accepted. She was unaware of the plans to have tequila brought out, but she probably wasn’t going to drink that anyway. Regardless of being in Mexico, it was noon. Even if she was going to drink hard liquor right now, it wasn’t going to be in the form of a shot. β€œI’m glad you two got here safely,” she said, as she took a plate and nudged Kendall’s arm lightly in the process. β€œIs your brother here, too?” she inquired, purposely attempting to normalize the air regarding her and Brody. She wasn’t going to act hostile towards him, and she didn’t want people to feel weird referencing him around her, since they were going to be spending a few months together, but she also wished that she wasn’t genuinely curious about where Brody was. She wished she didn’t care about him at all, at this point, but unfortunately, she wasn’t there yet.

Scott's gaze met the food as the rest of the crowd discussed plans and picked on each other. Scott's only care in the world at the moment was food, booze, and boobs and nothing wqs going to get in the way of him enjoying a full time vacation. As he filled a plate with food, Chris and Kylie joined the room and Chris wasted no time picking on Nicki. Scott smiled at the comments being made and turned away from the food to draw his attention to the bullying going on behind him. "Com'on Rockerfeller, you know damn well there's nothing classy about the Johnsons. It's all publicity." Scott smirked and tossed a wink in Nicki's direction. "Isn't that so, Onika?" Scott's smile was sly and devious, he brought an apple to his lips and took a large bite. Scott knew that nothing would ever happen between he and Nicki, but that didn't stop him from flirting with and teasing her. Not that Nicki wasn't his type, but more so that he wasn't her type. He still enjoyed having as much fun as he could with her though. Scott's shot towards Nicki wasn't meant to be in light of recent events but when Ariana entered the room, Scott could almost feel the air get heavy with tension. As Ariana spoke, however, it was clear she was doing her best to cut through said tension. To Scott, the knife was a bit dull though and he could see right through it.

"Hey Ari," Scott smiled towards her. Scott had always had a soft spot for Ariana, he's always had a thing for her. And as vultures do, Scott's plan has been to circle her until she was free to be picked up. With this whole thing going on between Ari and Brody that Scott had picked up from his sister, Grace, he knew this his opportunity to show Ariana that Scott was a much better man than Brody - regardless of whether or not it was true, which it probably wasn't. In an attempt to help break the growing tension, Scott spoke up, "Where is the less fun Jenner?" Scott's question wasn't directed at anyone in particular but he gave no one time to answer. "Not even important, I'm the life of the party and I'm right here." Scott squeezed past the crowding area and headed towards the back veranda. "How about we atop worrying about shitheads who obviously don't want to have fun and we go take shots by the pool." Sccot gave a tap to Chris' chest as he walked by him and mentioned for him to follow. "Chris, let's show 'em how it's done in Mexico. Gerard, bring the tequila, shot glasses, salt and some limes. We're going to fuckin' party." Time wasn't an issue for this borderline alcoholic, it was 5 o'clock somewhere.

"Sounds good!" Kendall agreed when Nicki reasoned that it would be nice to eat outside. She was ready to get some sun and fresh air, and the ambiance of an outdoor meal seemed perfect right about now. She giggled quietly as Grace continued to be herself; luckily now, just going on about how Nicki was probably an alcoholic hoarding all of the wine for herself, and it wasn't until Kendall's plate was completed that she actually starting paying attention to everything occurring in the room. Christopher had entered, not wasting a moment in time before starting to be his playfully belligerent self - with Nicki as his first target. Scott only fed off of this energy, and that in itself worried Kendall since she knew that both of the boys could be a force to be reckoned with on their own, and coupled together, they were definitely a mess and a half- albeit a fun one.

The fact that Nicki didn't even respond to Chris was what caught Kendall's attention. The snub wasn't anything that was particularly obvious, given how quickly things were moving in the kitchen. Kylie and Ariana were there then too, but for the moment, Kendall had to take a second to look at Nicki, actually attempting to read her. She couldn't tell what was really going on in the girl's head, but she definitely sensed that something was bothering her in regards to Chris, and instinctively, Kendall prayed that it had nothing to do with Kylie walking in at the same time as Chris. Additionally, she prayed that the mere fact that Kylie and Chris had walked in together was nothing more than a coincidence, and that they hadn't been hanging out or even talking before coming down here. Kylie had confided in Kendall about her and Chris a few weeks back, and ever since, she had been left feeling conflicted given that she knew that Nicki had a very long-lasting crush on the Rockefeller. If she had known that Chris had mutual feelings for Nicki, and had confessed said feelings to her on the same exact day that Nicki happened to walk in on him having sex with Kylie... it was safe to assume that Kendall's blood pressure would have been off the charts. She felt bad enough given the little that she knew, and the way that Nicki's mood seemed to shift quickly made her worried that Nicki knew more than she thought she knew, too. With so many people present, it didn't seem like the best time to investigate, but Kendall was definitely not going to let this go entirely.

She tried to put the thoughts on hold for a moment though, and the smile that appeared on her face as Kylie came over to them was genuine. She was glad that she was downstairs and socializing, even if she did seem to be carrying a slight attitude with her.
As Grace inquired about EJ, Kendall was able to talk to Ariana, whose presence had also made her happy. Even though she and Brody's relationship was over, Kendall still considered Ari to be a close and trustworthy friend, and the fact that she was inquiring about her brother made her feel a little bit more at ease about the two of them spending the summer together. "He's definitely here somewhere. I'm surprised that he's not down here yet, actually," she responded to Ari and partially to Scott too, realizing that it was unlike her brother to not be early to anything that involved food. She could have spent more time lingering on the matter, but Nicki seemed to have finished plating her food too, so Kendall started towards the door that led outside. "Come on, Nicki!" she called out behind her with a smile, as she headed outside, "I call dibs on getting to sit next to you!"

His sister's arrival brought up questions regarding Brody's whereabouts, which was a question on Christopher's mind too, though it wasn't a pressing one. Brody was too responsible now to need to be worried about, and besides that, Chris had Scott now, and that was all he needed to have fun. If anything, he was sure that with Andre here, Brody would gravitate to him anyway, so that they could be sticks in the mud together. Though Chris would likely roll his eyes at that, citing that Brody hadn't been so boring just a few years ago, it wouldn't bother him too much. He had Scott, and that was enough in itself, but once Nicki got over whatever was apparently bothering her (which Chris simply assumed had nothing to do with him), he would have her and the rest of the girls to party with.

"Cheers to that, man," Chris remarked solidly, as Scott motioned for him to follow him outside, under the impression that they were about to start this trip off on a very good note. Before he could follow, though, he had to make himself a plate. He wanted a lot on his plate, because it was no secret that Chris could and did eat a lot, but it didn't take him long to prepare the plate in itself, since he was happy with just taking a bit of everything he saw. He wasn't a picky eater, and knew that whatever came out of this kitchen was going to have his taste buds praising God regardless. Since Nicki seemed privy on ignoring him, Chris was going to do the same, but only in an obnoxiously playful manner. As he headed outside to meet Scott, he followed behind Kendall, but spoke loud enough to ensure that it was clear that he was speaking to Scott, though he knew everyone else could hear too. "Damn, Nicki's in high demand today," he remarked, surprise evident in his voice. "I guess I'll be a follower and stake my claim on the seat across from her. That way, I can stare into those beautiful eyes all meal and she won't be able to ignore me like she's trying to do now. You know she loves playing hard to get, don't ya, Eastwood?" he said, purposely hovering by the table and not taking a seat, as he planned on making good with his decision to sit across from wherever Nicki decided to sit.

Ariana's presence only managed to further dissipate all trace she of hunger that honestly should have been in Onika's body, but she had already said that she would try to be pleasant during this vacation so she made the concious effort to remain unbothered. It definitely wasn't an easy task, considering her past with the newly arrived female. Nicki wouldn't say that Ariana single-handedly made a big portion of her formative years miserable; that would be a stretch. But she definitely recognized - and never forgot - that Ariana wasn't innocent either. Combine that with the fact that the two had never meshed well at all in all the years they had known each other, despite their families' bond, and it was safe to say that Ariana wasn't exactly a face that inspired a smile out of Onika and the feeling was mutual. It didn't help that their current situation, one Nicki wasn't even ready to share with her best of friends, made her skin all prickly and anxiety bloom in the pit of her stomach. Luckily, both Grace and Kendall served as the best muses for distraction, and Nicki scrambled to make sure she had what she needed before walking with latter outside.

It would've been easy, then, to immerse herself in discussion with her girls. Though whatever plans they made would eventually include Kylie for obvious reasons, Nicki knew that with Kendall's reasonable personality and Grace's eccentric one, Nicki could get by. Even at the table they were getting set to settle at, she was minisculely relaxing with the promise of unnecessary alcohol and good company. Better company if Brody hurried up and graced them with his presence. But it never failed that Chris either didn't catch the hint, or caught it and opted to be an ass anyway. It never failed to exasperate her. It never failed to make her roll her eyes while trying to bite back the smallest hint of a smile, even when smiling was the last thing on her mind. More than any of that, it never failed to goad her, made her hackles rise. Made her want to respond. Ignoring the way her heart started to break out into a ramba against her rib cage - a sign that she needed to shut the entire fuck up, even if everyone wasn't outside yet - and with far more grace than she thought she had, Nicki whirled on her toes to face him, a challengingly cold glare on her face even as her lips curled into something that wasn't really a smile. "Well, I'd rather play that than the lying game. I'd hate having to go up against the pro right here, guys. He always wins." The last sentence came out too softly, a shaky bitterness that made Nicki feel too exposed and way too sober. So, she turned her back to the boys, nudging Kendall along so that they could get to their seats. Why was the tequila taking so long?

"Whoaaaaaaa, shots fired!" was the first thing that came out of Christopher's mouth, upon Nicki's response to him. To say that he was taken back and confused was an understatement, but he still had to play it cool. For him, playing it cool meant acting bothered, but also doing so in a loud and bold way, nearly showing that he was unapologetic if he was in the wrong, even though in this case, he genuinely had no idea what she was referring to. "She must've matched with some dude on Tinder catfishing her and pretending to be me, and he must've fucked her over some way, because I don't know what I did that's got her ready to throw fists when all this guy's trying to do is have a good time," he said to Scott, with a shrug of his shoulders.

Though he was acting indifferent, maybe even insensitively humorous, about this, in reality he was more concerned and confused than he was acting. It was undeniable now that Nicki was mad at him for something... something that involved lying, but what the hell had he lied to her about? As far as he knew, they were on good terms. They had had a good night a few weeks back, where he had been raw and real with her in a way that he honestly had never been with anyone before. Yeah, he had went on to sleep with Kylie that night, but he had no idea that Nicki knew that, and even if she did, Chris was that kind of dumb, where he could convince himself that there wasn't anything that wrong with that. He understood girls in the one-night-stand kind of way, but he didn't want Nicki in that kind of way. With that being said, it was going to be a difficult undertaking for him to finally learn how girls worked in a real and emotional way. Even now, when he genuinely did want to get to that point, he sort of just assumed that the answer to his problems would fall into his lap, magically... that he wouldn't have to put in any work, and that until that happened, he could continue being young and reckless and sleeping with whoever he wanted... including Kylie.

The comment from Grace about the seating arrangements went unanswered – verbally, at least. Since Kendall’s back was to the girl, and her facial expression wasn’t in clear sight of anyone as she headed outside, she didn’t bother trying to bite back the smile that crept onto her face like she normally would do when Grace made a comment like that. The blonde was so annoyingly good at getting under her skin, but in ways that made not smiling impossible (even if sometimes it was out of embarrassment or surprise at just how far Grace could take things). They were outside by the time that Kendall really processed the quick yet sharp exchange that had just occurred between Chris and Nicki. She was definitely taken by surprise when Nicki responded to Christopher’s typical arrogance and playfully antagonistic behavior with a comment that insinuated that he was a liar, and apparently, had lied about something major enough to really bother her. Chris seemed just as confused as she was, maintaining his typical attitude as he made some comment about Tinder and Nicki being Catfished, but Kendall knew very well that he wasn’t to be trusted. She didn’t understand that Nicki was referring to anything involving Chris and Kylie, because she didn’t know that Nicki knew about that, but given that she knew that he did that, he wouldn’t be surprised if he was doing more immoral things that would constitute as lying.

It automatically had her looking to Nicki with concern, even as they sat down and the girl tried to normalize their conversation with talk of massages and spa days. It was evident that the girl didn’t want to address what had just occurred, and Kendall could sympathize for that, because it was clear that emotions were involved that weren’t necessarily positive ones… but now she felt confused, too. She wanted to know what that was about, so if nothing else, she could blacklist Chris for the trip too, simply out of doing wrong to her friend. ”Kinda hard to ignore that,” Kendall insisted, though her voice was purposely hushed. ”I’m so confused. What did he do?” she asked, after a slight pause where she deliberated whether she was going to actually ask or leave it to rest, and simply respond to the spa comments. If she didn’t get her answer (or at least be able to tell herself that she tried by asking), there was no way that she was going to be able to eat or do anything else today. Part of her would end up being worried that it somehow related back to Kylie’s involvement with Chris, and the larger part of her would be too concerned about Nicki actually hurting over something that this boy apparently had done to her.

While Kendall opted for the more refined approach (and given how Nicki seemed to want to brush it under the rug, the more appropriate response, too), Grace just couldn't do that. She could be serious some times, and no one could say that she wasn't a good friend, but she just had a different way of going about things. One that was a little bit louder, in the obvious sense, and in a metaphorical one as well. She didn't like sugarcoating things, but she also wasn't about to ruin the mood, so a more playful, yet still serious in the sentiment, approach seemed like her best bet. If she didn't like Chris, it would have been easier for her to verbally crucify him (and if she didn't like him, that's actually exactly what she would have done), but she liked Chris, and Nicki hadn't given her enough to work with to know if she was referring to something serious, or was just mad at him for lying about something silly. "Oh no, Chrissy baby," she said, shaking her head and wagging her a finger at him, on the hand that wasn't holding her plate. "You picked the wrong girl to lie to. Messing with my Nicki?! My baby girl?!" she continued, speaking in true offense and horror, even though she was oblivious to what Onika was actually referring to when she insinuated that he was a big liar. "You better sleep with one eye open or you'll have a house worth of bricks tied to your ankle and you'll only realize it when the drugs start wearing off right before we toss you off the side of the boat into the beeeeeeea-utiful Pacific!" She had only just taken her seat by the time that she finished nearly singing out that threat, as she had lagged behind the group heading out by a few steps.

It was only once she was settled that she realized that Nicki had seemingly purposely placed herself in between herself and Kendall. "Since Rockefeller did you wrong, I'm gonna be nice and let you hog my beautiful Kendall today, and I'll give you the best massage that your pretty little self has ever experienced in your life. Just because I'm that good of a friend. And if it comes to it, you know I'm not opposed to dumping a body and hiding the evidence. As far as I know, Rockefeller was acting wasted all day and must've went out for a swim and drowned or something," she said, putting an innocent expression on her face as she shrugged her shoulders, as if she were rehearsing their alibi for the investigation following Chris's potential disappearance. She was interested in seeing if Nicki responded to Kendall's more serious inquiry regarding Chris and Nicki's back and forth, but unlike Kendall, not knowing wasn't going to ruin her day. Grace was sure Nicki would confess to what was bothering her sooner than later, and she wasn't going to force it out of her right now... not when there was a plate of beautiful looking and smelling food in front of her, and tequila (and hopefully wine, too) on its way out. "And if the cops still seem suspicious about us, we'll make sure that Kendall has a can of Pepsi on hand."

See, this was the reason Nicki absolutely adored Grace! While Nicki knew for a fact that Kendall was going to expect an explanation, again, it didn't mean that she wanted to do it, especially not now. She was probably being a bit petulant about it considering the fact that Nicki - not anyone else - had been the one who made her outburst, who had randomly hit Chris with a burst of passion that had honestly been ready to be spewed the second her flight had landed and she remembered that she was going to see him. Nevertheless, she understood that she wasn't going to be able to get away from the situation easily, but it was just helpful that Grace was everything light-hearted and fun and good in this situation. Enough so that, despite her desire to shift their focus on something else and just pretend that nothing had happened, Nicki couldn't even pretend to not giggle at Grace's exclamation. Especially when she was given permission to hog Kendall, who was still eyeing her with a bit of that concern that made Nicki almost want to just sob out everything. It was crazy, really. Was she always this fucking emotional?

"And this is why you're one of my favorites, Grace. But careful there, I might take you up on that offer," Nicki told her, taking a sip of her wine as a few staff members brought out both the wine and the tequila. Nicki watched them set a wine glass by each seat for the guests and just as they were going to do the same with the shot glasses, Nicki belatedly reveled in her apparently inner bitch because - despite her being the Johnson sibling who wasn't exactly as strict about drinking ages and all that - she was quick to exclaim, "No hard liquor for two of those. They're underage." And if she happened to cast Chris a small look before remembering that she was leaving Kendall hanging, well, that was his own fault. "It's not exactly what he did," she tried to explain in a tone only the two of them could hear, but winced before trying again, babbling and probably letting out more than she wanted to given the present company, "I-I mean, obviously he did something...not that that's surprising since he's pretty the poster child for doing the absolute wrong things. And people, even after..." Nicki paused then, using the fork to mess with her salad. She legitimately had to force herself to not look at Chris then, opting to stare at Kendall. "Look, it's...complicated. Can we...not? Like, not right now?"

____________________________________
Reality was beginning to set in for the first time since they broke up a week ago, that things were now different between her and Brody. She had noticed it before, in small ways like not sleeping with him every night like she was used to, or at least talking on the phone with him before bed, or waking up to texts from him in the morning. Their plans to fly out to Mexico together had understandably been altered, and the way that Ariana had envisioned the summer going had been changed drastically too, but standing here in the kitchen of the house of the girl who she blamed for ruining their relationship, Ariana could no longer deny that this hurt. Whatever this feeling was... be it pure sadness, or anger, or guilt, or jealousy, or more likely, a combination of all of those... it made her skin feel like it was crawling. It made her stomach churn and her throat feel like it was closing up. Brody was no longer hers. He hadn't been hers for longer than she knew. For once in her life, she hadn't been enough for someone. She hadn't been the best... the person that no one could top or turn down. She was... replaceable. She had been replaced.

With that on her mind, it made it more difficult for her to make an effort to corral Kendall into remaining with her rather than going outside with the other girls, both of whom Ariana wasn't particularly fond of. Her brother and Scott left too, with the latter receiving a distracted hello from Ariana before he left with Chris. Soon after Brody had come in, Andre was leaving, and that left her alone, just for a minute, with the two remaining Jenners. EJ's presence changed that, and by the time that he showed up, Ariana had finished plating the foods she desired, but she wasn't quite ready to go outside yet. She didn't know if she would ever be ready to go outside, honestly, because suddenly, the atmosphere in the kitchen had her questioning why she had been so stupid to think that coming on this trip was a good idea at all. If it had been anyone other than Kylie and EJ in the room with her and Brody, she wouldn't have said anything, but since it was just them, she looked to Brody and softly requested, "Wait in here with me, for a minute?" Though Kylie and EJ were both young adults now, Ariana would forever see them as being children, and therefore, their opinions and even capabilities to understand what was going on automatically seemed less significant. She wouldn't have wanted Kendall or Scott, or Nicki or Chris to see her seeking out Brody, being vulnerable, but she didn't mind if EJ or Kylie heard, really, because their opinions seemed irrelevant. She wasn't, however, dumb enough to say anything more than that with them in the room, though. That was the entire point of asking Brody to stay for a minute - so that they could talk once the younger duo went outside.

As the teasing went on, Scott couldn't help but follow along with the playful banter that he thought would soon turn into a not so playful bickering. Scott and Chris were good friends for good reasons. The two were terribly similar, and while it strengthened their friendship, Scott was pretty sure it also strengthened people's hatred for the two - however, Scott chalked it all up to those people being envious of the two. Both men were talented, charming, successful, and not to mention good looking - it would be a complete and utter surprise to Scott if no one envied them. Scott and Chris lived for picking on each other, but that didn't keep them from doing it to other as well. After all, Scott is a bully. This time around, however, it wasn't Scott doing the bullying. Scott was simply following along with the Ping-Pong motion of the conversation between Onika Sy-Johnson and Christopher Rockefeller. It had been so long since Scott has last seen all of these people in the same place together without it involving a red carpet or a major private event. Nostalgia crept its way into his mind and brought a smile to Scott's face as the Chris and Nicki continued to pick on each other.

It wasn't long lived, though. Confusion started to sweep its way onto the faces of those listening to Nicki and Scott go at it. It was become obvious that Nicki was upset with Chris about something; her banter slowly turned into the bickering that Scott was awaiting while Chris' playfulness continued, unaware of any of his wrong doings. Scott was trying to keep up but somewhere in that conversation, he zoned out and now Scott was as lost as Kendall was, who was inquiring about what was going on and what Chris had done. Scott shrugged in her direction, indicating that he, too, was confused. "How about we stop talking shit and just enjoy our time here, huh?" Scott spoke to no one in particular, but maintained eye contact with Chris and Nicki the longest as he looked around the table they where they were all seated. Once Nicki spoke up about not wanting to talk about whatever 'this' was right now, Scott chimed in again. "Great fucking idea, Nic. Let's just get our eat on, our drink on, and party on, huh? Besides, we all know Chris is a fuck up so odds are anything this shithead does is bound to upset someone." Scott tried to play off the awkward by turning the jokes onto Chris, in hopes it'd lighten the darkening mood.

Chris was more than fine with moving on and enjoying this meal. It wasn't him who had started acting hurt and offended over some non-existent crime, so he didn't know why Scott was looking at him as he spoke. Nicki had been speaking quietly enough to Kendall and Grace that he didn't hear her very brief explanation for her outburst, so he really was still in the dark about what he had lied to her about. In fact, he was even oblivious to the way that Nicki looked at him when speaking to her staff members about not serving drinks to Kylie and EJ, because of their age. It went right over his head, in the ignorance is bliss fashion.

He would make good to Scott's request, and not linger on any of the drama for now, at least. Even if he wanted to linger on it, he wouldn't know what to linger on, so dropping it wasn't that difficult anyway. "I won't argue with that," Chris answered Scott with a grin and a shrug. He and Scott were always playful with each other, so the dig at him didn't hurt Chris' feelings or ego in the slightest. In fact, he could almost spin it in a way to signal that it proved that Nicki was overreacting about whatever she was upset about, because like everyone else, she knew that Chris was wild and sometimes offensive, simply by nature. Whatever she was upset about had to be a reflection or her just taking things too personally and being too sensitive and dramatic. "But I agree with Grace, here. Andre's already the buzzkill of the Johnsons. Nicki doesn't need to be vying for that crown too. Let Kylie and EJ go hard this trip too, Nicki, unless you're scared they might outdo you or something..."

Although Kylie often claimed that given her upbringing, she was far more mature and adult-like than a normal teenager, it was quite easy to tell that she was still young and angst-y by her moods. Nothing really had to happen for her to suddenly be moody and cop an attitude, and it happened especially frequently around anyone who she felt tried to take authority over her. Brody was susceptible to it a lot, lately, given how he seemed to want to step up and protect their family (the Jenners of the family, at least), from any more public scrutiny than necessary, but Kendall got it from time to time, too. For some reason (or maybe no good reason at all), the way that Brody spoke to her, looking from her phone and to her, as if he was disapproving of her not eating and texting instead, bothered her. It bothered her so much that she didn't respond to him, only dismissively rolled her eyes and turned her attention back to her phone. Had Andre and Ariana not been in the kitchen, she might have made some remark about how she would appreciate it if he would mind his own business this summer, but thankfully, their presence kept her from being more openly disrespectful. Luckily then too, EJ arrived, and Kylie could finally relax a little bit. She followed his lead in putting food on her plate, and barely noticed Ariana flagging her brother to the side of the room as she headed outside with EJ, rolling her eyes but smirking slightly as she said, "Let's compare Instagram followers and then you can tell me about all your fans, buddy."

"Sorry, sorry. I forgot I was talking to the Kylie Jenner. King Kylie," EJ backtracked playfully, but he was only partly joking because he was close enough with Kylie that oftentimes, it was surreal to think of who she was in the public light. His family made a name for themselves too, and in some cases, that came from scandals that weren't the best, but EJ felt like who he was to the public was true to who he was in "real" life. Even he would laugh out loud if Kylie tried to claim the same about herself. She knew how to work social media, he would never deny her of that right, but who she was there and to the media seemed so superficial compared to the girl he knew. It was like she was a completely different person, so "forgetting" sometimes wasn't something that you could really blame him for.

"Let that be the first and last time you forget it, and I'll forgive you," she teased as they reached the veranda where the others sat. No matter how immaturely bitter she wanted to be about some things, no bad mood of hers could negate how utterly gorgeous this place was. She had been to Punta Mita before, so it wasn't too much of a shock for her, but it didn't take away from how much of a paradise it truly was.

"Sure, anything for my second favorite Jenner." EJ's attention shifted from Kylie as he heard Chris speaking, followed by Kendall making a comment about someone not needing hard liquor. Given the setting, it was easy to assume she was referring to Kylie, especially when Chris' words were taken into account, but he couldn't be positive. Nonetheless, there was never a time that EJ didn't let his opinion be known, so as he approached the table with his signature grin, he had to say, "I don't know what we're talking about, but I heard something about Kylie and EJ going hard, so I'm gonna agree with you, Chris. Sounds like a solid plan." As he found an empty seat at one of the heads of the table (since his father wasn't here, he decided that that seat was rightfully his), he couldn't help but to add, "Would've been easier for me to go hard if Nika hadn't stolen the best seat at the table, but I'll ignore that this one time, sis," looking to Nicki, before winking at Kendall and Grace.

With Chris sitting across from Nicki, and Scott next to him, and therefore across from Kendall, Kylie took it upon herself to take the other seat available next to Chris, and across from Grace. Even though EJ had only worsened her mood by acting like he, too, was enthralled by everyone but her, she couldn't complain about the seating arrangements. She got to sit next to Chris, and across from Grace, so at least she wouldn't be weighed down by the bad vibes that she liked to claim her brother and Nicki tended to carry around with them, or by any disapproving looks that Kendall was bound to send her way for just about any move that she made. She had barely been paying attention to Chris standing up for her and EJ (though she would have appreciated his challenge to Nicki about being outdone, and she definitely would have risen to that challenge too), she did catch Kendall's brief comment to the server who had left without placing a shot glass down at her seat. "You don't need to be drinking hard liquor either then, Kendall," she countered, clearly annoyed as she set her plate down and took her seat. "You weigh twenty pounds less than me and are the biggest light weight in this room, so don't even go there."

Though she would jokingly insist that the sentiment did not exist if he ever questioned her on it, Scott's presence was genuinely going to be missed once he dismissed himself, claiming that his team had just accepted a new role that he needed to immediately be back in California to work out the logistics for. When he had readily agreed with her on wanting to just ignore the situation and presently enjoy their lunch, Nicki couldn't help but ungracefully snort out a giggle at his accusation of Chris being a fuck-up. Under most circumstances, unless she was feeling that playful as well with the male in question, she didn't necessarily favor when people reiterated a fact about Christopher that wasn't necessarily fair nor true. However, given her current temperament and what could have escalated into an actual problem, she couldn't help but heartily agree with a much brighter smile than the ones she had been giving before. It was enough of a mood lift on Scott's part that she was capable of ignoring, for the moment, the sting that accompanied Chris' unnecessary egging in favor of acknowledging her little brother's arrival. "Ummm...I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure this seat does not have your name on it and I'm enough Johnson for both of my babies, thank you very much," she replied cheekily.

She was still playing with her food as opposed to eating it, but she definitely noticed the shot glasses being filled and Andre making his way over, muttering something lowly to one of the staff. Not bothering to question it, and thinking it had something to do with Scott rushing off and going on about needing to pack, she forked enough of the salad on her fork that would disallow Andre to fix her with any kind of look, and then looked up at Chris. "Besides, Chris, I'm pretty sure the last person at this table who I'd consider to be competition is Earvin the third over here," she continued teasingly, casting a bright grin at her younger brother followed by a wink. Just about to put the forkful in her mouth, she just had to add, "You know I could go way harder than you if I wanted to, baby boy." Andre only had just tuned into the conversation, settling into his seat, but he definitely checked in early enough to hear that foolishness. Which was why he cast his sister a derisive glance. "A little early for you to be starting them lies, sis," he told her, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. By that time, feeling a bit lighter but definitely ready for a shot with or without the others, Nicki had already pushed the forkful of salad in her mouth and set the fork down on her plate to bat her lashes at him. "I've got no idea what you're talking about, Dre. I'm a smol chocolate cinnamon roll, just ask Kendall." Chuckling, Andre didn't even wait for the aforementioned female's response. He just rolled his eyes and stated, bluntly, "Bullshit." Nicki just laughed into the palm of her hand.

When Brody and Ariana finally settled with them, Andre almost waited to see if Nicki would react obviously. But she didn't, though he was pretty sure that had more to do with the wine settling in her system. It would've made him frown, but Brody had spoken up and that, in turn, made him grin. Gesturing to Nicki, he began "I mean, if you want to be like that heathen over there, then by all means." Nicki had half the mind to throw one of the napkins that had been brought out at him and he must have known where her thoughts went because Andre couldn't help but deliver a short laugh. "Jerk," was her stage-whisper. Still chuckling, Andre waited until the other shot glasses were filled before speaking again, and then lifted his own. "Anyways, since some people couldn't wait and others mentioned it, I guess I can do the cheesy and completely unnecessary toast. To a summer of finally getting to relax, enjoying our travels, the adventures we're bound to have, and most importantly, enjoying us." There was a small pause and then, bracing himself mentally, Andre knocked the alcohol back. He was pretty certain that there would be a lot less of them enjoying one another as time went on, the secret pessimist that he was, but he wasn't going to be the one to verbally curse them with the thought. A little superficial hope was necessary, even at this early stage of the game.
