History:
It is not often that an Asian-origin family was able to have a position and influence much in the States, but it seemed that Aiden was lucky enough to be born in such a family, living in the fame and the admiration of people ever since a young age. His father, Christian Liu (50) was the CEO of one of the most prestigious company in the States and his mother was Chang Mei Feng (40), one of the most veteran actress in China who has successfully becoming a famous Hollywood star during her early 30s, who has managed to won several awards for the blockbusters that featured her. Both of them are considered as ones of the most non-American influential people. They got married and had two sons, which are Aiden and his older brother, Darien Liu. Despite being busy with their schedules and meetings, they never forget to save times for their sons instead of leaving their care in the hands of nannies. This is one of the most important aspects that has helped both Aiden and Darien to earned their success. Aiden got along well with his brother and they always overcome whatever problems they had in life together. Both of his parents are independent people who has earned their success by their own hands, and they wanted their children to follow their paths. Which is why, they've learnt to do things by themselves and standing on their own feet at the age of 15.

Aiden began to developed his talents for singing and piano since he was 12 and although he didn't take after his parents, they accepted it and allowed his talents to be nourished with the hope that one day he will be successful like them. Encouraged thanks to this, Aiden has always tried his best and nurtured what he is good at and eventually, becoming who he is today. He attended a prestigious school in McKinley in high school alongside his brother and both of them had always been been popular at school. While Darien keeps on having a cool image, Aiden sticks to his usual gentle and soft sides and they've went through the years of high school in the admiration, in which they usually receives love letters and presents and has their own fanclubs. This is also the time when Aiden also taken up acting and was personally taught by his mother. And eventually, the years at high school passed.

After graduation, Aiden's brother enrolled in NYU and earned a four-year degree and now he owns a high position in their father company. Aiden decided that it is time for him not rely much on his parents' fame, which is why he enrolled AMDA for three years and started his own career on his second year. After graduating college, he was invited to starred in a blockbuster which later has received positive reviews from the critics and was ranked as second on the list of highest box office movies last year. After this success, the name Aiden Chang is well-known by many people and this is the point that his career began to rise to the top level. He began to started at the music industry a few months later by composing several songs, which later had became hits for some of the top singers of the States and release his first album. His album is has sold a lot of copies and held high ranks on Billboard. Now, Aiden has finally able to got out from his parents' shadow and was able to create a name for his own in both music and movies industries. Recently, he is working in the studio for the release of his second album in the end of the year and filming for the music video of his title song and has just finished filming for one of the newest project of Hollywood which will be premiered next year.

Positive Traits:
Gentle | Kind | Hard-working | Determinate | Independent

Character Flaws:
Sucks at lying | Sensitive | Easily-flustered | Over-caring

Personality:
Ever since he was small, Aiden has always been a kind and gentle person. He cares a lot for the others, especially people who are closed to him, his family and his fans. Aiden hardly ever loses his temper and is often seen with a gentle smile on his face. This is what makes other people attracted to him. Although he can be quite shy at times, he really likes to make new friends, mostly during when he's collaborating with stars and other famous people. All of these, combine with his appearance, make people having the impression of a feminine young man when they first met him. However, also because of this, some of the more masculine men might not like him, but that didn't bother him much.

Because Aiden has learnt to do things by himself at quite a young age, he wants to get out of his family's shadow to show the world of what he is capable of. Which is why, though doesn't really look like it, Aiden is an independent man. He has his own ideals, but it doesn't mean that he'd just do whatever he wanted to do without thinking about it twice. Although Aiden is someone who's willing to listen to the others' opinions and advice, he's not easily influenced as he looked. He prefers to do simple, daily things all by himself and will only asked for help if he really needs to. Aiden is perfectly capable of taking care of himself and the others without relying much on anyone.

Another aspect that his closed friend can see from him is that he is very hard-working. It wouldn't be much of a surprise if you caught him practicing since early hours until late night, especially when he's about to release a new song or about to take part in a film. This is one of the many aspects that has helped him build up his own career, but not to the point of a work-aholic though, mind you. Aiden is someone who knows when to immerse in his own fantasies, and when to stick to the reality. Appearing like a dreamboy as he would, he is actually quite a realistic person himself. He also shows determination in every steps that he has made and will make in his life. Once he has set his eyes on a goal, he will never stop until it is achieved.

Aiden sucks at lying and concealing his own emotions is not something that he good at. He has always been an honest person, but sometimes he can gets too honest than he needs to, which can leads him to says somethings that he'll regret later. When being forced to lie, people can easily read him by the ways he acts when he isn't honest about something. Which is why his friends will not often share their secrets with him although he has never do so. He is also quite sensitive and can be quite emotional sometimes. At first, whenever he receives criticism, he gets upset quite easily. He can still get hurt if anyone said or do somethings which he doesn't like, but Aiden can control his emotions better now than before.

Due to his softness, Aiden can easily get flustered, especially when his lover is around. He couldn't speak a word and his face turns all red whenever someone, regardless of men or women, trying to flirt on him or something like that. If he makes just a slight mistake when doing something, he'll also feel really embarrassing and will need a couple of minutes to calm himself down. Whereas he is being independent himself, sometimes Aiden can be a bit over-caring with the others, thinking that he's trying his best to help them even when they didn't need to, which can leads to annoyance. But hopefully, not many people can really be mad with him for long, though!

As one would expect, Carson was more than caught off guard when Alexandra grabbed his face and pushed it against her own. The kiss didn't last for more than a couple of seconds, or the amount of time it took him to realize what she had just done and for him to pull away. What was she doing? Was he speaking a different language when he had just told her that he did not like her like that, and that them ever having any type of romantic relationship was completely out of the question? Either that, or she was delusional. The way that she looked at him with those innocent puppy eyes and giggled after he frantically pulled away pointed towards the latter. As the son of a billionaire, and a popular, good-looking guy, Carson had a decent-sized ego but he didn't think there was anything that captivating about him to make Alexandra obsessed with him. He was sure that she had slept with other guys before, probably even dated some, so why was she so unable to let this go? Even if in some alternate dimension he did have feelings for her, it's not like Owen wouldn't completely destroy the relationship. And he didn't have feelings for her! That was the entire point of this.

He had no idea how to respond to what she had just done, but without realizing it, he had stuck his hands out in an attempt to block any future attacks. "Alexa... no..." He was still caught off guard and considered reiterating his lecture, but if that hadn't worked the first time, it probably wasn't going to work another time either. Instead, he figured that he would have to be more upfront about it. "You can't just do that! Did you not hear what I just said? I don't like you like that, Alexa. I don't want to kiss you, I don't want to hug you, I don't want to touch you. You're a kid and my best friend's little sister, it's completely fucked up for me to see you as anything more than that and I don't. So can we just stop this? Things don't need to be awkward since we're going to be in the same house together all summer, but can you just get it through your head that there will never be anything between us? Never." He was standing up by now, backing away from the bed as if he was expecting her bed to explode at any minute. He still wasn't trying to be mean but maybe now he was beginning to see why Owen got so fed up with her. She didn't take no for an answer and didn't seem to hear anything that she didn't want to hear.

There was no way that he could continue the conversation. He had to get out of that room and out of the house too. Even if he could compose himself enough to go down to the kitchen and socialize with the others, what was he going to do when Alexandra came down bawling her eyes out and her finger pointed towards him. Even if Owen was still ignorant to the secret, Shay and Colette weren't, and it would only take a scene like that to intrigue everyone else.

He headed back to his room, swapped his pajamas for a tank top, board shorts and sandals, and headed downstairs. Before brushing through the front door to find his car, he sent out a few texts. He couldn't pull a Chris and disappear without at least letting everyone where he was going. That would only be more suspicious.

To: Shay
Ur sister is crazy. I'm omw to the beach so I'll meet up w you later I guess?

To: Owen, Aiden, Chris, Oliver
I'm heading back to my apartment in Malibu to grab a few things that I forgot. LMK where you guys are going today and I'll meet up with you.

Owen shot Tinashé a look of disapproval as she emphasized what her girlfriends were doing today. It didn't take much to interpret that as her way of stating that Ariana wasn't welcomed, or at least that Shay wasn't going to make the effort to invite her. He shouldn't have expected that Shay and Ari would just magically get along now that they were living together but he wished they could. It would make life a lot easier if he didn't have to worry about either girl snubbing the other. Not only for the sake of avoiding drama, but he also didn't want to have to pick a side. Ariana was his girlfriend; someone that he loved and saw as someone he could eventually marry, while Shay was his sister; someone that he was expected to be loyal to no matter what. Both relationships were so important to him that he couldn't imagine having to choose one over the other.

He rolled his eyes as she accused him of being a stick in the mud. If being responsible and cautious was equal to that, then so be it. Someone in the family had to set the boundaries and at the very least, respect the law. He wasn't sorry that he didn't approve of underage drinking or recklessly club-hopping at bizarre hours of the night. That wasn't his scene and he didn't want it to be his sisters' either. "Your plans sound fine," he replied, shooting her one last look that he hoped signify the message of "please don't start this early in the morning". "But only half of us are going to be able to go to Greystone. You know that Jamie, Oliver, Chris and Alexandra are underage. They won't get in." It was wishful thinking. From his own experience dealing with Alexandra, he knew that the right connections could get a twelve-year-old into even the most exclusive club in Los Angeles and if anyone had the right connections, it was this friend group. He was actually pretty sure that it had been Greystone Manor itself where Alexandra and his mother had been photographed doing a line of cocaine in a VIP section. Still, he wasn't going to approve of them going when it was illegal. He knew it probably wasn't going to change his strong minded sister's plans, but he was going to try.

The omelet that Shay had slid to Oliver smelled good enough to remind Owen that he was hungry. He followed closely behind Shay as she moved back to the stove to work on another omelet. "Would you mind making some green tea for Ari?" he asked one of the kitchen staff members who looked uncomfortably displaced with their job being unnecessary. It had probably been a while since they hadn't been needed to cook. Tinashé was the only one in the family who had cooking in her blood and Owen didn't trust Alexandra to use the microwave, nonetheless the stove, so the kitchen staff had been essential more than usual while she was on tour. He returned his attention to his sister when the kettle was set on an unoccupied burner. "I'll take mine with cheese," he grinned, in an attempt to lighten the mood. Plus, he really did want one. "And you're still not off the hook about last night. What happened? You went to bed that early?" He was curious about what had happened with the glass breaking, or whatever that story was, but there was also a part of him that wanted confirmation that she hadn't ended up with Carson last night. He didn't think it was true but this would just verify that.

Just as he thought of Carson, he found his phone vibrating with a message from him. Owen found it to be a bit odd that he would be running off so early, without even getting breakfast, but at the same time, it wasn't so conspicuously strange that Owen put too much thought into it before texting back.

To: Carson
Shay's making omelets just stay for breakfast and then we'll all drive over there w/ u. I figured we could go to the beach anyway

When Ariana woke up, tangled in Owen's limbs and bed sheets, she felt comfortable. There were no butterflies or rapid heart beats, but she was comfortable next to him. It was good and bad. There was a part of her that loved Owen for who he was, but she also knew that she didn't want to wake up to this feeling every morning for the rest of her life. She would have to put up with it for the rest of the summer, or at least until Colette returned to New York, but the part of her that loved Owen felt bad that she was leading such a nice guy on, when she knew there was no future in sight.

There was enough guilt there that she almost didn't tell him about his sister and Carson. Almost. She knew his eyes were following her undressed body as she slipped out of his sheets and behind the bathroom door. She rested against it for a good minute before deciding that she needed to say something. Not so much to protect him or his relationship with Shay or Carson, but to protect her own image. She was going to have Oliver release the photos eventually. It would make her look like a good girlfriend if she had tried to warn him about it beforehand, she decided. So, she swung the door open and peaked her head out around the side of it. "Babe? I didn't want to bring it up last night, but it's kind of been bothering me all morning. Last night, before I came up here, I was looking for Christopher and one of the staff told me that they had seen him in the theater. I went in and... I don't even know how to put this... but I think I saw Carson and Shay making out on one of the couches." The look on his face told Ariana that her point had been made. Whether he wanted to believe it or not, it had shocked him. When he denied the possibility of it being true, she smiled warmly, though it was laced with mischief. "You're probably right. I'll meet you downstairs once I'm ready. Make me some tea?" She was good at dropping bombs like that, stirring the pot, and then disappearing like she had no involvement at all. As Owen wearily turned around to fulfill her request, she snuck back behind the door and grinned. This was going to be fun to watch play out.

She showered, blow-dried her hair, dressed and was walking downstairs in a half hour's time. Most of the others were already in the kitchen, but Ariana noticed that Carson, Alexandra and her brother were missing. Rose was as well, but Ariana wasn't close enough with her to notice. "It smells amazing in here," she noted cheerfully as she stepped in. She was well aware that along with Aiden, Shay was also cooking. All the more reason to compliment it. She could be sweet when she wanted to be, especially when she knew Owen was in earshot. "You look cute today, Collie. Feeling better?" Her smile was just as innocent-looking as the tone of her voice, but her sister would probably know that it was more of jab at the intoxicated state she had last seen her in. "And have you seen Chris? He hasn't answered my texts since like... last night?"

She rested her phone on the counter top as she wrapped her arms around Owen's neck to kiss him, probably for a few seconds longer than the other's would feel comfortable seeing. Really, she only pulled away when she heard her phone ping. It was Alexandra, claiming that she was sick and needed a staff member sent up to check on her. Ariana hummed quietly to herself as she pondered an answer. It was quite possible that the young Collins was just as hungover as Colette, but Ariana would humor her with a genuine response anyway. First, she would tell Owen. "Alexa said she isn't feeling well. Did she eat yet this morning?" Maybe Shay's cooking had given her food poisoning. It wouldn't have surprised Ariana, who had no plans on eating Shay's food anyway. It was unlikely that she would poison her own sister's food, but Ariana was sure that Shay was crazy enough to try something so ridiculous on her. She didn't want Owen to think that she was hating on his sister though, especially not after she had vowed to try to make things better between the two of them. "I can bring her up some food. Can you make something for her, Tinashé?" She smiled as she acknowledged the other girl. Owen couldn't complain about anything. She was being nice and cordial. She was acknowleding the sister that hated her "for no reason", while also dealing with his bratty little one. The perfect girlfriend, or at least a better one than her alcoholic sister would be.

To: Alexandra
Of course <3

After he had entered the kitchen, so did Owen and Aiden, though it appeared that Aiden had been awake before most of them. He was tending to something in the oven, which soon surfaced as cupcakes. And God, did they smell good. Had Tinashé not followed Owen to the kitchen table seconds later with an omelet in her hand, he probably would have gotten up to try one of Aiden's cupcakes. "Thank you m'lady," Oliver responded to the deliciously smelling plate being passed his way. It didn't get rid of the tempting, sweet aroma of cupcakes, but by the looks of how many Aiden had made, there would surely be some left over by the time he finished his breakfast.

He was only a few bites in when he realized he had forgotten a drink. Rather than flag down one of the kitchen workers in an unnecessary and lazy move, he got up and poured himself a glass of lemonade. Unlike the others, Oliver had spent most of his life living a life that was the opposite of lavish. Sure, it was easy to get used to the good life when he moved in with his father six years back, but a large part of him still remembered what it was like to actually have to do things on his own.

Thankfully, he was seated back at the table by the time that Ariana walked in. It was pathetic and he knew it, but he was kind of scared of the girl, especially when she was the one person holding his secret. She was preoccupied with Owen, and probably her sister and Shay, to even look at him, and he preferred it that way. In an attempt to further distance himself from having to interact with her, he glanced back towards Jamie. If there was ever a time that he wanted the blonde to be more social, it was now. "Are you actually going to go to Gresytone Manor tonight?" Oliver had never been to a club. He wasn't famous enough on his own to get past the bouncers and didn't have friends that went to them either. He definitely wasn't against it though, assuming that it was probably an easy place to pick up girls. If Jamie was going to go, it would be one more incentive for him to go as well.

The tranquility of her solitude was eventually interrupted, but in one of the better possible ways, since rather than it being Ariana, Alexandra or Colette, it was Shay who walked in. While they were quite different, she liked Tinashé. Rose was close with her and it had led to Jamie eventually learning that Shay wasn't just the wild party girl that the press chalked her up to be. She was a genuine, kind and down to earth girl who just happened to love throwing down at a club every once in a while... or multiple times a week. Regardless, Jamie didn't mind her company. She had a mouthful of waffles when Shay greeted her, so she waved in response as she finished chewing her food. "I went to bed pretty early, so I probably missed you," she explained when Shay apologized for not seeing her the night before. As far as Jamie knew, Shay had been present during the entirety of the party and it was her that had rudely avoided socialization. "And I think I'll be full after this, but thanks anyway." She regretted filling her plate with waffles when it became apparent that Shay was making omelets. Jamie could personally vouch for how decadent those were.

Soon after Shay's arrival, most of the others began to flood into the kitchen. Colette, Oliver, Aiden, Owen and Ariana. She was only really interested in conversing with Oliver, but she acknowledged him only with an eye roll when he sat down. Did he really think that flirting with Shay would get him anywhere? She was far beyond his level and Jamie was sure that Oliver already knew that. He was so corny, but it never failed to make the corners of her lips tug upwards into a smile. She shrugged her shoulders when he asked what the plans were. She didn't have any of her own and hadn't spoken to anyone else, aside from Shay just minutes before, all day. "No clue." The question didn't go unanswered for very long, because once Owen joined the pair at the table, Shay followed and explained to him that she already had a schedule lined up for the girls for the day. Aside from the bookstore, none of the others stops on the itinerary really intrigued her, but especially after Tinashé specifically called her out on having to attend, she didn't think she could decline the invitation. "I'll be there," she smiled weakly, moving a piece of waffle in a puddle of syrup on her plate. It couldn't be that bad, she supposed. She liked Shay, her sister would probably be coming, and she had spent a lifetime ignoring spoiled brats like Colette, Ariana and Alexandra for her life. She could do it again today.

When Owen and Shay left her and Oliver alone again, she relaxed a bit. His question didn't give her much down time though. It was one thing for her to go along with a day of shopping and pampering, but she doubted that anyone actually expected her to tag along to Greystone. That had to be one of the last places anyone would expect Jamie to be at, and she was relieved when Owen objected to the minors attending with them. She doubted it would be enough to sway Shay against going, but at least someone agreed with her. Oliver, however, seemed interested in going. Since when did he like clubs? "Uh, no," she nearly scoffed at the absurd question. He knew her better than anyone else. Of course she wasn't going there, and she didn't expect him to either. "We can go see a movie or something." That was more realistic. She wasn't interested in seeing any of the movies currently playing, but she would rather pay ten dollars for a ticket and sleep through the entire thing than go to some flashy night club.

Alexandra was used to being shouted at and berated by her brother, so maybe that was why when Carson did it, she didn't even flinch. Her eyebrows lowered slightly in a confused manner, but she didn't try to stop him as he stormed out of the room and despite her hopes, didn't swing the door back open moments later to apologize. She was startled that he had raised his voice and acted so passionately in a bad way, but it didn't strike a nerve in her. Possibly because she wasn't really processing anything yet today, or because maybe she wasn't as hurt as she would later act to be. Carson was gorgeous, successful, and he took her virginity. She was definitely attracted to him, but most girls her age probably shared that attraction. There had to be more than just physical attraction to make her act so brazenly. Maybe she felt like she had to like him since he was the first person she slept with, and she didn't want to be a slut who just slept with people with no strings attached. Shay had already claimed that role in the family. Maybe she didn't care if it ruined Carson's relationship with Owen. For once, things wouldn't work out perfectly for her goody two shoes brother. She wasn't sure what it was at this point, and definitely wasn't ready to admit that she was fighting for Carson for any reason other than "true love", but her reaction to his dismissal spoke for itself.

She probably remained on Shay's bed, staring at the door for three or four minutes before finally shifting herself onto her feet. She had received a couple of text messages since then. Most of them were from friends asking if she wanted to go out later that night, but there was a response from Ariana in the mix too, agreeing to send someone up for her. She was no longer in the mood to bother one of the servers but as she slowly stepped out of Shay's room, arms filled with shopping bags, she found one ready to knock on the door for her. In hand, he had a mimosa ready and waiting for her. How could she say no to that?

"You can leave it for me downstairs. I'll be down in a few minutes," she advised curtly as she side-stepped him and headed down the hall for her own bedroom. She only remained in there for long enough to toss the bags onto her floor, slip out of last night's attire and change into a bathing suit. For the first time in days, her mind wasn't racing with the thought of being with Carson. His words were slowly sinking in, but not to a point where Alexa was really going to let it go. There was still something, or some things that were pushing her towards continuing her pursuit of him, and the thought of Shay being jealous of her was a major one. Alexandra wasn't even sure if she thought that her sister actually liked Carson, or if Shay just didn't like that he liked her and wanted to ruin that, though. Regardless, she wasn't letting it get to her in the moment. She had learned after crying herself to sleep last night that it was just too draining, especially when she had just woken up.

When she stepped into the kitchen, it was apparent by the contrast in attire, that none of the others seemed to have "pool time" listed on their day's schedule. She wanted to go back to sleep and get a tan, so laying outside would be perfect for that. Still, she was social enough that she did kind of want someone to hang out with all day. She was sure that Shay had planned a busy day for the others and that once they left, it would probably be hours before they returned to the house. Everyone aside from Carson, Chris and Rose were in the kitchen. Chris was the only person that she was really in the mood to socialize with, but she had no problem with Aiden right now either. Plus, the smell of cupcakes he was standing in front made her mouth water as soon as she stepped into the room. She ignored her siblings, Colette and Ariana as she approached Aiden by the stove. "Can I have one?"

Thursday, July 2nd | 10:00 AM | Beverly Hills, CA | Collins' mansion

Aiden humming a melody as he puts the butters, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla extract into another large bowl. He then beat them together with the electric mixer. Then as he slowed down the mixer, he then added a cup of powdered sugar at a time until the cream began to get creamy and smooth. Finally, when Aiden has finished with the cream, he wrapped some resealable food-storage plastic bags and add the cream cheese frosting into it. He then carefully dip tops of a cupcake into the frosting, give a slight twist and remove and continue the same with the rest of his batch.

As he was doing his job, he heard Tinashé was complimenting his cupcakes, giving him a small pout. Aiden then chuckled back, hiding his mouth by the back of his left hand, "Thanks, Shay. Glad to know that you like them. Feel free to call me anytime if you feel like having cupcakes. It's much nicer being able to bake for the others." Aiden said genuinely, giving off an innocent and bright aura. It's only when Aiden is being able to be with the others that he had a chance to take care of them. That is what he's good at, after all. You can always rely on a thoughtful guy like him no matter what. Though sometimes he can be a bit more caring than he supposed to, but hey, that's his nature. Aside from Krystian, it was kind of nice to do something for the others too.

More and more people seemed to pour into the kitchen as Aiden is still doing the frosting for the red velvet cupcakes. Soon enough, Owen, Ariana and Alexa appeared and by the look of it, they seemed to like his product though. Giggled at the thought, Aiden carry on with the rest of the batch. He has made quite a few, knowing that the others will be starving by the morning. When he has finished, he knelt down and took out a three-tier cupcake stand from the cupboard and nicely arranged them onto the stand. As soon as he finished, he saw Alexa approached him, asking for one. Aiden smiled back in return, "Sure, why not?" He then took a cupcake from the stand and gave it to the younger girl, "Here. There's still more if you like. Enjoy." Aiden said, still with his smile. Then, he carried the stand and placed it on the large dining table. "Cupcakes are served. Feel free to have one, everyone."

Aiden then took off his apron, folded it nicely and put it on the counter before turning to Tinashé. "Hey, can I have some omelette? Yours looked awesome too." Aiden asked as he leaned himself on the counter. As he waited for the younger one response, he was thinking what will be his plans for the day. Probably he should tag along with the guys if they still had some free space to let him in, otherwise he might just called Krystian over and go on a date. Well actually, they WERE intended to go out that night anyway. They were too busy with their schedules and hardly had anytime to spend with each other before summer so as soon as they're free, the first thing they got on their mind is going on a date with each other for a whole evening before ended up in bed.

Tinashé bristled at Owen's forgetting that Shay could get literally anyone in to Greystone Manor, partly because she knew that he knew she could. He was only trying to have control over everything this summer and she was not having it. Like how he was probably going to try to control what she does with their home's nightclub, but wasn't going to get away with it. That was mostly Shay's territory anyway. She didn't feel like dealing with her overbearing brother and when he asked one of the staff to make Ariana some tea, her expression soured immensely. Filling the omelet she was currentlyly working on with cheese and then sprinkling some on top, Shay slid it onto a warm plate. Afterwards, she added more vegetables to the other empty skillet and egg into a separate, before gathering the plate and walking over to her brother.

She did not know what was on her face and at this point, could care less what he saw on her face. She just stared at him when he asked about her disappearance last night, her mind flashing back to all that ocured - Lex's text, said girl pulling away from her, her and Carson talking, waking up in Carson's arms. It all replayed in lightning speed and Shay blinked, peering down at her brother without a trace of a smile or even the defiant smirk she typically regarded him with. "Like I said, you're too late and I don't want to talk anymore," Tinashé found herself staring at her brother's inquisitive eyes a bit longer before breaking contact when she heard Ariana's voice, turning away and heading back to the stove. She did not comment on Ariana's existence nor did she acknowledge it at first, opting only to make the next omelet for sweet Aiden. "Working on it right now," she told her fellow artist and would have continued in her quest to ignore the bane of her childhood had Ariana not directed an inquiry towards her. She had asked about Alexandra eating at all, which was in the negative because the wench had yet to have left Tinashé's room, but she didn't feel that it was necessary to answer that question. And when Ariana asked her to make something for her sister, Shay didn't even turn around when she replied, "She's got two feet." It was probably a bit unnecessary and Shay did have every intention of feeding her little sister, she just did not feel it necessary to be as fake as Ariana was. They did not like each other and the sweet lilt of her voice was a fucking lie, and they both knew it.

Still cooking and checking on the egg for Aiden's omelet, Shay glanced over at her phone, unlocking the screen when she did a double-take at Carson's message. Tell me something I don't know, was the first thing that came to her mind at him calling Lex crazy. She was, but she was also lovable and it left her befuddled that Carson would call her such. Pursing her lips, Shay set her spatula down, grabbed a cloth to wipe her hands, and then picked up her phone. While texting him, she decided to text Rose, whom she had not seen since before her departure from the social.

To: Carson
Could've told u that myself. Come eat b4 u leave. What happened?

To: Rose
Where r u? U coming today?

As she returned her phone to its place on the counter, Tinashé heard Alexandra asking Aiden for cupcakes and glanced at her sister, who was currently clad only in a black bikini. Which surely Owen was going throw a bitch fit over because it obviously wasn't their house and Lex wasn't allowed to wear whatever she wanted. Shay had to roll her eyes discreetly at the thought, but did take to noticing that Lex was purposefully not paying her any attention nor asking for anything. Which meant that she was in one of her moods and probably whatever she had discussed with Carson revolved around Shay. Great, she thought, annoyed. Piling the ingredients into the egg with cheese, Shay folded it and slid it onto a plate, handing the newly prepared food to Aiden. "Here you go, love." Smiling for him then, she glanced back at Ariana, more than ready to make something for herself and Lex only instead of concerning herself with her brother's demon of a girlfriend. "Do you want anything?"

Tinashé looked him with the smirk he resented and knew all too well. She claimed that she still didn't want to talk about whatever had been bothering her last night and Owen knew better than to press the subject. They didn't need any unnecessary drama and knowing Shay, she had probably been dramatic about something trivial. She slept it off and now it was over. They could move on to the first day of summer without any trouble. It seemed that way for a moment, at least. And then Ariana walked in. He smiled. He couldn't help himself from doing that, but even in his hopeless bliss, he knew that Ari's presence brought tension. Between Colette and Shay, it was apparent that Ariana wasn't welcome in the house, nonetheless the kitchen. She was making an effort though, and that was something he didn't think he could say for Shay.

After a surprisingly public mini-make out session, she offered to bring food up to Alexa, who was claiming to be ill. Tinashé didn't even turn around when she shot down the offer callously. He couldn't even brush it off as her just not wanting their little sister to be pampered. She was just being nasty because it was Ariana who was being nice. He knew that it wasn't going to be easy to have both of the girls living down the hall from each other all summer, but he thought that both girls would at least try to make it work. Shay had chalked Ariana up to be Satan reincarnated, and yet she was the only one making an effort to put their past behind them. Admittedly, Owen did want to believe that Ariana wasn't as horrible to his sister as he had heard her to be, but this seemed like an example that was hard to deny. She was being nice.

Though Shay wasn't facing him, his look towards her bordered a glare. He was ready to contest that no, Ariana should take her up something. Not because he wanted Alexandra to be waited on, because that was probably the last thing he intended to happen, but because he wanted to acknowledge that Ariana was being a good person. He didn't though, because before he could do more than open his mouth, Alexandra stepped in. She might as well have stepped in completely naked because the poor excuse of a bathing suit barely covered any of her skin. He knew that she didn't acknowledge her partly because she was just a brat, and partly because she knew that she was wrong for parading herself around like that in front of guests. The fact that she was also ignoring Shay didn't strike him as odd either, but only because he thought that Shay would be on his side about the bathing suit and that Alexandra probably thought that as well.

In Shay's credit, she had addressed Ariana and offered to make food, even if it wasn't in the most genuine voice, but he was too busy addressing Alexandra to hear it. He waited until Aiden had finished speaking to her before plucking the cupcake out of her hand. "Are you out of your mind with that?" he snapped, waving his hand up and down at her body. "Where the hell did you get that? I doubt Aimee would even let you wear that." Owen always felt like Aimee was too easy on Alexandra. It was probably because she had seen everything and more when she raised her own teenage daughter, and because someone had to be the good cop when Owen and Pierce played bad cop. Still, no normal person would approve of a child, eighteen or not, wearing something that was so skimpy. He glanced back at Shay, who was still working on food. It wouldn't have surprised him if she had brought it back for Lex from Europe. He wouldn't bring it up now. No, not after he was already going to need to confront her about how she had treated Ari. "Go upstairs and put clothes on. Shay's taking you out today." He held up his hand before he could respond. He was already expecting that she was going to object and claim that she wasn't going or that she already had her own plans. Had he forgotten how popular she was? "All of the girls are going, so don't try to get out of it." It seemed like a good time to invite Ariana. "Ariana, are you up for going with them too? Shay has a whole day planned out for you guys. What are you guys doing again, Shay?" His look towards her was more pointed this time. Please be nice.

Although Alexandra had always thought of Aiden as being a little bit too nice, to a point where her petty self was bothered by it, she was grateful when he allowed her to have one of his cupcakes. One, because they smelled irresistible and two, because she was hungry and didn't want to ask Shay for her food. She had maybe two minutes of peace at most before Owen had to bother her. Sometimes Alexa wondered if Owen had to make a show of his power to her, to compensate for how Ariana probably controlled their relationship. She wouldn't have been surprised. While her brother's successful modelling career made it hard to deny that he was attractive, she felt like Ariana's aura gave her an unattainable status. She didn't need Owen as much as he thought he needed her. The thought made her feel slightly better as he berated her.

Just as soon as Aiden had handed her the cupcake, it was plucked out of her hand by her power hungry older brother. It would have been easy for her to snap at him, accuse him of being a tyrant and asking him if he was in such a pissy mood because he never got laid. It wouldn't have been the first time, but she didn't. It didn't stop her from allowing the thoughts to play out loudly in her head, but she wasn't going to give him an excuse to call her an unruly brat. Instead, she would ignore him. She had a feeling that acting like he was completely invisible would do more to piss him off than talking back would. She attempted to sidestep him after he asserted that not even Aimee would be okay with her wearing the outfit. Does he not understand what a bathing suit is? And that's not saying much. Aimee doesn't like me anyway, she thought. Owen thrust his hand in front of her before she could get away, and without much surprise, continued his lecture. Shay had plans for all of the girls today, blah, blah, blah. She was well aware of that. Her sister had said the same thing to her earlier.

She was actively trying to annoy Owen by giving him the cold shoulder, but even if she did want to scream at him, she wasn't sure if she had it in her in the moment. After Carson had blown up on her, she had shut off her emotions to keep herself composed. So, after making eye contact with him briefly and continuing to give him no reaction, she was finally able to step around him when he diverted his speech to Ariana and Tinashé. She snatched another cupcake from Aiden's stand and made her way to the table. Jamie was sitting there which normally would have turned Alexandra off, but she was too hungry to leave the kitchen all together and didn't mind Oliver that much. She chose a seat at the opposite end of the table though, because she wasn't in the mood to break her silence just yet. Besides, she was sure that Oliver would start a conversation with her sooner than later anyway.

Aiden's cupcake was cooked flawlessly and it satisfied her sweet tooth but she was still hungry for real food. Skipping dinner last night had been a mistake, clearly, since just as hungry as she was, she didn't want to talk to Shay after she had clearly betrayed her regarding Carson. A text message didn't seem as personal and allowed Alexandra to feel like she was still standing her ground, while appeasing her appetite. Though they were only a few feet away, she sent the message.

To: Shay
I'm hungry

There was always some part of her that wanted to repeat lines from some of the earlier African-American comedies or skits, partly because they were usually entertaining and partly because they were relevant. Like right about now when Owen went into one of his inexcusable tirades about what Alexandra was wearing - because he's been doing a great job all these years at controlling anyone other than himself, she began to muse - and pretty much playing his hand as a parent. But what he seemed to forget was that he was not either her father or step-father. He was her brother. An older brother, yes, but only by two years. Which made her more than ready to retort, "You must be out of your ever-loving mind if you think you're talking to anyone like that." And damn it all if the phrase wasn't at the tip of her tongue because she was ready to say some words to Owen. Their summer had not even begun yet and he was already beginning to piss her off just by existing.

However, Tinashé's gaze wasn't on her domineering brother. No, they were on Ariana Rockefeller, regarding the brunette with the same cold rage that Ariana was probably stewing in because Shay refused to play nice with her. That was the difference between the two of them. Tinashé didn't do niceties often. She was rather upfront in that regard. Besides, if two people did not like each other, why pretend? Why go on with a charade that they knew could cause each of them unnecessary stress? Besides, Owen made all of this about himself and it had nothing to do with him. He was not - in any way - involved in Carson and Alexandra's dealings. And he damn sure had no say in how Tinashé felt about Ariana - she could care less that Owen was fucking the entitled bitch. As Owen snapped at Alexandra, Shay continued staring directly at Ariana's face, gaze unwavering and fearless. If Ariana thought she was going to intimidate Shay in any way, she was sorely mistaken and Shay had no qualms in getting that through her head. So enraptured by this exchange of returned hatred was she that her head whipped back in Owen's direction when he addressed her. It took her a minute to actually allow his words to sink in and boy...when they did!

"Owen," she stated simply, voice monotonous and bereft of the emotions surging beneath the cool disposition she regarded her brother with. Inside...inside, she had already leapt to her brother and punched him dead in his pretty little face. How DARE he? He, who was only twenty-three, acting as an authority over she, who was twenty-one!? Who the fuck does he think he is? Tinashé could feel the energy prickling just below the surface of her skin, the anger so intense within her that she could feel it in her nerve-endings. Fuck, she needed Carson right now. She needed Rose. She needed Colette out of this room and now. Faintly, Ariana's voice broke out over the tension in the room and Shay didn't offer her even a glance of acknowledgment. The bitch wasn't worth it and when she spoke, voice dripping with a harsh edge that dared to cut her brother through the electric air that loomed between them, she only regarded him. "You're neither dumb nor deaf, and we are both aware you heard me the first time. Tell her yourself." She didn't care if Owen had another reply or if he even decided to follow her, but she needed to leave. Besides, Owen was fucking lucky if she did say so herself. She hadn't yelled yet.

Grabbing up her phone and a strawberry mimosa, Tinashé glanced down at her phone only briefly seeing the text from Alexandra. Rolling her eyes, Shay turned to Hans, who faced her fully and awaited a response. Above anyone else in the room, he understood that cooking was a thing of solace for her and that Owen just ruined it. Still not able to smile for him, she ordered in her native language, "Rukumbiro fadza bvatura omelet kuitira angu sisi, Hans. Ndino da amwe mweya." He nodded at her request for him to make Alexandra food and once that was out, Shay also grabbed a cupcake and left the room, pausing only a few steps out of the door in order to shoot Carson a text.

To: Carson
Tell me u haven't left yet. Im bout ready 2 kill ur bestie.

Owen was well aware that his sister was annoyed with him, but he wasn't so certain on why. What had he done wrong? All that he was trying to do was make this summer easier on everyone. He asked Tinashé to reiterate her plans for the day to Ariana and suddenly he was being treated like he had just cursed her out. He got that she disliked Ariana but why couldn't she just play along like everyone else and at least pretend to be civil for the sake of survival. Now, he had Ariana giving him the sad puppy dog look like his sister left the room, leaving an icy vibe in her presence. This is just great.

He gave Ariana an apologetic look. "Hey, don't worry about her. She's probably just tired, and I know that she does want to patch things up with you this summer." Maybe that was a stretch. "They're going down to Abbot Kinney, I think she said, and then later on we'll meet back up with you girls for dinner at Providence and possibly some drinks at Greystone Manor." Inadvertently, his gaze shifted across the room to Alexandra who had silently brushed him off and refused to change or go get ready for the day with the girls. "So, what do you say?" He wouldn't have blamed Ariana for saying that she didn't want to attend with them. Shay had made it pretty obvious that her presence wasn't welcomed, despite Ari's attempts to lighten the tension between them. He wanted to reach out to Colette and ask her to talk to Shay for him. She knew Ariana better than any of them. Surely she would be able to convince the singer that there was some good to Ariana, that she had changed over the years and was a better person now. If anyone could convince Tinashé, it was probably going to be Colette. She had been acting cold towards him lately, though, and after that scene, he was sure she was going to side with his sister. He wasn't going to risk asking her and causing a bigger problem, especially with Ari standing right next to him.

"Aiden, Oliver, do you guys want to head down to Malibu in twenty minutes or so? I think Carson's already on his way down there, so we can meet up with him there and spend a few hours at the beach. Did you bring your car, or do you want me to drive?" He asked, with the last part was directed towards Aiden. He really didn't want to deal with Alexandra anymore, but he wasn't going to let her sit home all day and wreck havoc on the place. Plus, he knew that she and Ariana had been getting along pretty well over the past few weeks. It felt weird to even think that the eighteen-year-old could serve any purpose, but if nothing else, she could be an ally for Ariana if she chose to go with the girls. "Lex, would you please go get dressed?" He was quieter now, a bit nicer after feeling (appropriately, probably) like a dick once he had driven Shay out of her happy place.

When Alexa and Tinashé both disappeared early on in the night, Christopher decided that there was no point in staying at the party either. His solution was more dramatic than just going up to bed like the girls did, but in his defense, he did wait for his parents to leave before catching a ride with friends to the night club, Lure. His night was a usual night of drinking, dancing, and smoking, before he crashed at some model's mansion in Calabasas. The hangover that he woke up with at nine the next morning was enough of a sign that he had a good night. If his phone hadn't been going off with texts from his sisters and mother, he probably would have slept another five hours, but once he was up, it was impossible for him to return to sleep on the couch. His sisters, specifically Ariana, were probably already annoyed with him and though he wasn't feeling well physically, he was ready to get back to the house. He had skipped out on the first night but couldn't do that for the first real day together too.

To: Shay
What's good for today?

To: Ariana
CHILL omw back now. R u mom now?

To: Alexandra
U shouldve come out w me last night. Lure was lit

To: Colette
Should I wear my favorite shirt again today?

The easiest way to get home was a cab. It would have been too much explaining and just as long of a wait if he had called his family's driver, or one of the ones that the Collins' used. Plus, unlike many of the others, Christopher wasn't "famous" enough to be given enough attention for merely using public transportation. He had a trust fund worth more than most adults' life savings, but that alone wasn't important enough to make people recognize him unless he was standing beside his sisters or parents, or behind a DJ booth. He didn't mind it, really. Life was easier when he could blend in with the average crowd and still reap the benefits of being extraordinary.

He got home and managed to sneak upstairs, shower and get dressed by the time that the guys left for the beach. The night time brought out Christopher's wild side, but for the most part, he was a pretty laid back guy. That's why, even though he wasn't particularly close with any of the other guys, he had a good time at the beach. He was able to catch up on his sleep, get some sun and spend some time surfing with Carson. It was a good day and after Chris heard of the plans for that evening, he was sure it was going to be a good night too.

"So, Shay said we're hitting up Greystone Manor tonight," he conversed with Carson, whose car he had opted to drive in on the way home after the beach day. "The last time I was there I can't even tell you how many hot chicks came onto me, man. Models and actresses, too. I guarantee we take home at least one girl a piece tonight," he grinned. Out of all of the guys, Chris preferred Carson. He was the only one who really knew how to have fun.

To: Shay
We better put Europe to shame tn. Were almost home. U girls back yet?

"Alright, see you in a little," Carson replied as he headed out of her room. It didn't sound awkward coming out of his mouth, but this state of over thinking that he had fallen into tried to convince him that it was. As he slowly turned down the hallway, he wished he had acted more passionately. He didn't have to push her against the bed and tear her clothes off, but pulling her face closer to his and kissing her back would have sufficed. Even a more thorough response to the kiss would have been enough. It would have been better than him pulling his hand away from hers and changing the subject some scared fourteen-year-old boy. He would redeem himself tonight, though, he decided. Tonight was going to be fun and he was going to make sure that Shay not only cheered up, but that she knew that they were going to make this summer count.

He was in the middle of writing a mass text to Oliver, Aiden, Owen and Chris, when he got a text from Owen. Apparently, he was on his way to Huntington Beach to spend the night with Ariana. Carson didn't think that was the best option, but that was his "I love Shay" side talking. If there were no feelings there, he would have clearly agreed that Owen needed to dig himself out of the deep hole that he was in with Ariana. Even if he did think that it wasn't going to help the situation if he kept bowing down to Ari's every request, it was going to benefit Carson tonight. He, Shay and the others could all go out and have a good time and Carson wouldn't have to worry about Owen finding anything out, or questioning his interactions with Tinashé. He really couldn't have asked for a better ending to a not-so-good situation, and he didn't even feel guilty hoping that "if I don't see you" would end us as definitely not seeing him.

Emerging from her bathroom once more on an impulse, Shay returned to her bedroom with her toothbrush sticking out of her mouth as her brain considered all that she could wear for the evening. Unlike Colette, whose main attire typically consisted of dresses, she wasn't in the mood for such. Casual was always a go-to style for Tinashé and she prided herself on not being too dressy or constricted. At the same time, now feeling a bit freer at the thought that Ariana either was going to officially not acknowledge her presence like Shay was going to do to her or that Ariana just wasn't going to be present for the evening's activities, she felt that she still wanted to show off a little skin. She deserved to be a bit sexy tonight, right? So, she opened her closet door and rifled through the assortment of clothing, deciding firstly on the pair of Balmain heels. The classic French manicure and pedicure treatment she had gotten while they had been out were fitting enough to not seem too showy. Smiling at her selection, she glanced over at her phone, set the shoes before her bed, and then picked it up, still opting to ignore the message Alexandra left for her.

At first, she didn't know what she wanted or could say in regards to Owen leaving. Her mind immediately went to one conclusion: he was going after Ariana. And it infuriated her - enough that she was ready to curse her brother out via text message. Unlike Owen, Tinashé had never been in love. She had never known the luxury of having someone - and being had - without the fear of being treated like an item or that they could very easily leave. That fear, along with the insecurities she tried to keep from the forefront, made it near impossible to put her heart on the line, but she did know one thing. Love wasn't supposed to be like this. It shouldn't make you someone have to choose between family and them. It wasn't about not acknowledging one's own failures and flaws, and putting the relationship on the line for something as petty as an argument with someone else. Maybe she needed more experience to tell Owen that, maybe not. But, in Shay's mind, love should never have an ultimatum. And the fact that Owen had chosen - that her had chosen her stung - but Shay was too ready to have fun and forget than to allow his naivety and stupidity ruin her night. She just hoped it wouldn't bite him in the ass.

To: Owen
Fine. Have fun.

To: Carson
Idk. At least we can say he won't suck the life out of tonite.

To: Lex, Colette, Jamie
Leaving for Providence in 30

Once those messages were sent, Shay plugged her phone back in and then returned to the bathroom to empty her mouth's contents and finish brushing her teeth. Afterwards, she was undressing and then hopping in the shower, willing the night to roll over like the steaming jets of water that soaked her body.

Time: 9:30 pm

Providence was as impeccable and delicious as ever. The artisanal cheeses and crackers were paired with a decadent wine, the lobster ravioli had been filling, and at the moment, Shay was nursing a generous serving of sorbet, brimming with satisfaction and a sudden explosion of energy. With the negativity of Ariana at the back of her mind and pointed ignoring her sister's attitude with her, Shay found herself enjoying the night and had spent a considerable time during their dinner sharing stories of her tour and hearing about everyone else's stories about the past few months - hell, year - that they had all spent a part. Giggling a little at the overall enjoyment of the night, Shay felt good and she damn sure knew she looked good too.

Once out of her shower, she had decided on a black Chanel jacket and short set. The woven material was surprisingly thinner than it appeared and she allowed the jacket to remain buttoned up for the time being, though she knew she would take it off later in the midst of dancing to reveal the white tank top underneath. The pairing had been a simple enough ensemble that she felt comfortable and in her zone, while the show of seemingly long legs - elongated even more by the heels adorning her feet - allowed her to feel sexy and carefree. For simple jewelry, she had decided on a multi-strand gold necklace from Versace that had tiny medallions with the brand's emblem, changed her nose stud to the small nose ring, and an edgy ring for the middle finger on her left hand. Her makeup consisted of wine red lips and concentration on the eyeliner, resulting in a cat-eye appearance. Overall, she knew she looked like a million bucks and hoped, though hopefully not too noticeably, that Carson had noticed. Not that you are care too much, her mind reminded her tauntingly to which Shay flicked it off. She was done with going with her head at the moment. She was ready for the night to begin.

"Thanks again," she said, handing the check along with her credit card to their waiter, who smiled congenially and departed to take care of her payment. She didn't ask if any of the others wanted to play, this felt more like a treat than anything else. Turning her attention back to the others with an inquisitively raised brow, Shay asked with a lascivious grin, "So, who's ready to get this party started?"

Alexandra seemed a little distant, but it wasn't enough to worry Chris. He was sure that her mood was perky compared to that of Shay and Ariana's, and unbeknownst to him, Owen and Carson's. He, Aiden and Jamie seemed like the only ones in the house who actually had a shot at a drama-free summer, although his family ties to Colette and Ariana would probably ruin that for him before long. Christopher was ignorant to Lex and Carson's fling, so he was sure that whatever she was upset about had to do with either his sister and her sister's issues, or her own tendency to be dramatic. Even if she didn't appear to be happy with Shay, as he assumed by her proposal that they switch sisters, he wasn't going to allow her to mope around all night. She did that last night, and tonight he didn't want to ditch her for his own fun. They were going to have a good time together, like they had done many nights before, prior to him spending time in Europe with Tinashé.

"I promise you that you don't want Ariana as your sister. Besides, then it would be messed up for her to be dating Owen, and I wouldn't be able to sleep with Shay again next time we ditch you for Dubai," he smirked at the last part. If he joked about it enough, maybe she would realize that she was crazy for constructing such a bizarre claim in the first place. As she busied herself with her phone, he did the same after finding a text from Carson.

To: Carson
Sounds good

Chris didn't plan on changing out of the casual outfit he had put on after showering, and was pretty much ready to leave now, but he was sure that it would take Alexandra longer. Growing up with two sisters and spending months with Shay had taught him never to underestimate the amount of time a girl could spend picking out outfits or perfecting their hair and makeup. He couldn't hate on them for it though, knowing (especially when Colette was around to remind him), that he put less than a normal amount of effort into his appearance. As long as his clothes were clean, he didn't really care what he looked like and in his defense, neither did the many girls who seemed to flock to him each night at clubs. "Now, get your ass out of bed and get ready. I'm starving and you making your lips look ten times bigger is not worth me having to wait to have my Providence lobster." He was joking, and he was sure she knew that, so with one last cheeky grin, he left her to get ready. He only returned to her bedroom once before they all left, to toss her a few 50 mL bottles of vodka and give her the instructions of, "Drink up, just in case your wannabe-sister shows up." They were going to need more alcohol than that if Owen and Ariana did show up, though.

Luckily, the group of eight got through their dinner without any surprise visits from the couple. It was definitely a good thing, since the ambiance at the table was good enough that there was hope for a successful night. Well, Christopher was sure that his night was going to go well regardless of anyone else, but he felt like the others were in decent spirits too. Jamie and Oliver had shown up, which was surprising since they were some of the last people he expected to ever see at a club. It was still possible that they would bail before the group actually made it from the restaurant to Greystone Manor, but Chris was hoping that they didn't. At least, that Jamie didn't. He didn't know why or how, but seeing her again after so many months apart had sparked his interest in her. She was weird and different, but in a cool way... in an interesting way. He wanted to get to know her, but didn't know how to do that without being awkward and weird. The two really had very little in common. She didn't seem to like his sisters, she didn't have any mutual hobbies with him, and their personalities were bold contrasts. He opted for some Belgian-brand beer with his lobster, hoping that starting with the liquid courage early on would somehow help him talk to the blonde later on.

Tinashé had taken care of the bill, without much notice being taken by Chris. If it had been Alexandra, Carson or even his sister, he would have made a smart ass remark telling them to thank their dad for the meal, but Shay worked harder than most of them. He had witnessed that first hand over the spring and knew that even if she had been born into privilege like the rest of them, she worked hard now. It was more than he could say for himself. After finishing off the rest of the cool beverage in his glass, he set it to the table and pushed back in his seat. "I hope you guys can keep up with me and Shay tonight. We're used to living life in the fast lane like the Europeans," he grinned. He was ready to get the party started, as Shay had put it. He considered ordering a beer for the road, but Greystone was only a ten minute drive and since they wouldn't be waiting on line to get in, he decided he could survive that time without a drink. "Is the car here for us?" his question was directed more towards Shay than the others, since she had been the one planning the night.

In Owen's text, he had said that he was going to spend "the night" with Ariana. Carson doubted that Ariana planned on it just being a night, though. If she was upset or angry enough to run away to her family's home an hour away, he doubted that she had any plans on coming back. That didn't really bother Carson. He had always gotten along well with Ariana, but if her hatred for Shay was going to get him into trouble, he was more than glad that she wanted to stay away too. Owen was a good enough guy that Carson could see him wanting to appease his girlfriend and spending the summer there with her too, but he wasn't sure if that was realistic. Surely his parents would have doubts about him leaving the rest of the gang at their house. The slew of house staff made it impossible for too much trouble to go down. They weren't going to burn the place down or be ransacked by thieves, but Carson also knew that Owen was trusted more than his sisters when it came to being responsible, and putting safety over fun. Even if Pierce and Aimee were okay with it, Carson wasn't sure if Owen would actually want to be away from everything. Ariana was a trophy girlfriend, but Carson thought that at least for him, that thrill would wear off eventually. That would be especially true if she put him in the same hard spot that she was putting Owen in, with choosing her or his sister.

He felt bad for Owen, but not bad enough to not be excited for the night. It was going to be the perfect opportunity to show Shay that he was all-in if she was, without having to worry about him or Ariana trying to ruin that. Alexandra might prove to be more crazy than she had already shown herself to be that morning, but he was hoping that his words had finally sunk in. They seemed to, at least, since he got through the Providence dinner with very little contact from her. Things were civil and he doubted that anyone, aside from maybe Shay, knew how uncomfortable he felt around the eighteen-year-old, but he preferred avoiding her as much as possible. It was apparent that he wasn't going to be able to try to be nice and normal with her, because she would take that as him wanting more, and that was the last thing he wanted. Thankfully, the Wild King Salmon he ordered was large enough to allow him to have a mouth full of food for most of the night. He laughed along at the wild stories Chris and Shay shared about their Europe trip, joked about how Colette had tried to make a move on him when he showed up in New York a few months back, and helped himself to as much of Shay's lobster ravioli as he could when she wasn't looking. The night was good and fun, light and easy. Something he was sure wouldn't have been true had his best friend and his girl friend tagged along. Regardless of preferring their absence, Carson felt the need to text Owen. Maybe it was to genuinely check in on him, or reassure himself that he was a good friend, despite struggling to keep his eyes off of Shay throughout the entire dinner.

To: Owen
How's everything going?

When the meal was finished, Carson was just as ready as Shay and Chris to get the night started. Once they got to the club, he was sure that Chris would wander off to find some girl to woo, as he had spoke about in the car ride back from the beach. Alexandra would hopefully take advantage of Owen's absence and get drunk enough to wander off. He could encourage Oliver to use that to his advantage to speak to Alexandra without her sober and sensible side shutting him down. Aiden was never a nuisance, so Carson wasn't bothered by the idea of him hanging around, and just as they were standing up to leave, Jamie said her own car was waiting for her. She wouldn't be going to the club with them because she needed to make sure Rose was okay, after her sudden disappearance that morning after claiming to have the flu. He doubted Jamie's excuse as much as everyone else, but her presence didn't really affect him. She definitely was closer to his step-brother than he, and Carson saw it as one less person to get in the way of him spending time with Shay.

Once the check was paid by Shay and they were on their way out, a wave of confidence passed over him. It was probably Owen's absence getting the best of him, but he was brazen enough to grab a hold of Shay's hand, despite the others being only feet away. It wasn't like he was pushing her against the wall and tearing her clothes off, but maybe he was trying to make up from his 'friends' remark earlier. "You better not ditch me for a Jonas brother tonight."

Outfit || Makeup

Alexandra still didn't appreciate Chris' reference to his Dubai trip with Shay, because she did still believe he slept with her, but she allowed herself to smile, ever so slightly, at the remark. It was a reaction to his signature goofy grin more than anything else. His next comment about her makeup was less well-received than the first, and she offered him her middle finger as a response of her own. "Bye," she responded curtly, her way of telling him to get out, even though he was already on his way out the door.

She opted to ignore Tinashé's text. If you don't want me to talk to you, don't talk to me. The text she had received earlier wasn't going to stop Alexandra from talking to Shay if she felt like it, but she was only going to do so if she felt like it. Agreeing to be ready in thirty minutes did not constitute that, and just to spite her, and Chris for his remark, she made sure to take no less than forty-five minutes getting ready. When she finished showering, fixing her hair and makeup and getting dressed, she choked down the vodka that Christopher had left her earlier, and found the group downstairs, waiting for her in the car.

Alexandra was in the mood to complain, but the dinner that Shay had treated them to was one thing that she couldn't find an issue with. She had ordered the lobster ravioli dish, and enjoyed half of the dish before deciding she was full. She wasn't very hungry, but more so, she wanted to drink on as empty of a stomach as possible, so she would feel the alcohol sooner when they got to Greystone. The couple of shots worth of alcohol she had early had already worn off, and with Owen not being there to drain her energy, she was planning on going all out tonight. It seemed necessary, especially when she spotted her toxic, no good, bitch of a sister holding Carson's hand on their way out of the restaurant.

"Honestly, she is so ugly," she muttered under her breath, a lame insult in an attempt to poorly reassure herself that Shay could never get with Carson. Alexa was petty and at least part of the anger she felt towards her sister should have been directed at Carson. He was the one who had taken Shay's hand into his, and he was the one who slept with her and then acted like she meant nothing to him. It was easier to lash out at Shay though, since they were sisters and Lex felt that no matter how nasty she acted towards her, Shay would have to forgive her at some point. She had already learned that Carson wanted nothing to do with her, and snapping at him would only steepen their distance.

She opted not to say anything about the display of public affection at the time, because she didn't want to look like she was as obsessed as Carson (rightly so) made her out to be. She silently slid into the back seat of the car, taking a window seat and focusing her glare out the window, rather than at her back-stabbing sister. In an indirect way to get back at Shay, she decided to text Ariana. If she showed up, maybe Alexa could instigate a fight between the two and Shay wouldn't be able to hang out with Carson. It didn't exactly mean that she would get to hang out with him instead, but if she couldn't have him, Shay couldn't either.

To: Ariana
Please come save me I want to hang out with you tonight :((((((((((((

It was only when they arrived at Greystone that Alexa felt like the dynamic between Carson and Shay was too strong to ignore. She was still too hestitant to say anything aloud, partly because she didn't want to seem dramatic and attract the group's attention to her, but mostly because she didn't want to be publicly shot down by her sister. Instead, a text would do.

To: Shay
Just a reminder that I hate u.

Tinashé ended up laughing, a knowing glint in her eyes as Chris teased the others about their adventures on tour. In the midst of their eating dessert and getting ready to leave, both Jamie and Aiden had excused themselves. For the latter, Shay pouted the most. She understood that Jamie didn't really like partying as much as the others and truthfully, someone needed to be there for Rose. She had noticed her friend still looking a little haggard from their trip and felt guilty about making her go through all of that only to try to start up again with no consideration for Rose's comfort levels, but her sickness came out of left field. Shay was half convinced that, perhaps, she should just stay with Rose or something along those lines until her friend begged her via text to still enjoy herself and forget about the train wreck of a day they had been having. So, Jamie leaving was fine. Aiden though? Shay didn't care about his need for boo time, she had wanted him with her for the night. Part of it stemmed from wanting to see how drunk she could get Aiden and see if he had a reckless setting since his default was sweetest-cutie-pie-in-the-world. Another time, she told herself and hugged both of them goodbye.

Just as the waiter arrived with the check, Shay signed over while answering to Chris, "Yep, valet is pulling it up now." Mark was one of her favorite drivers, particularly when she was out for the night and knew she was coming home smashed. However, Shay didn't know how smashed she would wind up considering the fact that Lex wasted no time in downing shots while they were at the restaurant, so she opted to simply drive everyone for the night. It was less conspicuous anyway. She wasn't oblivious to the scathing looks the younger Collins sibling shot her way every now and then; she just point blankly ignored them. It did come to mind, however, that she might want to stay sober in case Alexandra did something stupid. God knows Owen would have Tinashé's head if someone wasn't watching out for their sister. Petty wench, she growled in her head as the group exited the restaurant.

Caught up in texting one of her friends who was already at Greystone, Shay nearly jumped when she felt Carson's hand slip into hers. Her gaze immediately sought to find his and even though her heart began to thump wildly in her chest, she didn't exactly let go either. It occurred to her, only a few moments later, that she should probably be wary about...whatever this was. Especially with Alexandra probably glaring daggers at her from behind and cursing her name to the lowest pits of hell. And she was worried - worried about what Alexandra would do before the night was over, how Owen would react if anything got back to him without them saying, what all of this really meant - but for the moment, she simply concentrated on enjoying herself for the night. Leading to her grinning cheekily up at Carson's face, her dimples fully pronounced. "I don't know..." She teased light-heartedly. "Last time I saw Joe, he was looking really good." She couldn't help but to chuckle a bit before trying to concede, not wanting to take the teasing too far just as the valet pulled up with the 2015 Chevy Tahoe. What could she say? She liked trucks. "I'm just kidding. Wouldn't dream of ditching you. Besides, who else is gonna keep all the fangirls at bay?" Giving him another wink, Shay walked over to the other side of the truck, tipped the valet, and then climbed in, ready to head towards the club. Before driving, however, she did stop to see if Owen had left any messages or if Aimee decided to compete with her mom-of-the-year award for checking in. Surprisingly, there wasn't a word from either but a few from Alexandra. Shooting her sister a glare through the rear view mirror, Shay opted to ignore her and not respond to the message, only sending one text out before concentrating on driving.

To: Colette
I am sooooo here 4 disowning our sisters and moving 2 New York

By the time they had gotten to Greystone, Shay had been in her head for too long and well...was she in the wrong for going after Carson? What if there really were feelings on Lex's part? How would she handle rudely interfering with something that had nothing to do with her? What if this turned into something even more ugly than it probably was and it would be all her fault? What would Owen say? Hell, what would she think about herself? These thoughts were what plagued her as a valet took the car and she led the group inside, immediately rushing for the bar to order a round of shots for everyone. It didn't take them long to get in on the account of Shay having too many friends who hosted events here and all of them being prominent figures just by existing. Probably should've called Mark, she thought, turning around to face the others with a glass in hand. "Turn down for what!" She bellowed and tossed one back. Maybe she should send a text before the night went any further.
