History:
Carson's parents, David and Jeanine, were married for less than two years before divorcing. He showed up at the end of the marriage and if it hadn't already been on the brink of defeat, the stress of having a child brought it there. Having children is a stress for most new parents but David and Jeanine weren't your typical parents, living in a suburban town and trying to live the American Dream. They were billionaires. David co-owns Koch Industries, one of the largest privately-owned companies in the country, and Jeanine is a board member for one Delta Airlines, which her father owned. While Jeanine was eager to start a family, David wanted to focus on his growing empire. He wanted a trophy wife and someone to pass his legacy onto one day, but he didn't want to put the work into keeping his marriage alive and didn't seem to bat an eye when Jeanine walked out on him.

Luckily, they managed to be civil enough to co-parent Carson. He spent most of his childhood at his mother's house in Pasadena, CA and visited his father in Manhattan whenever he had the chance. When he was in elementary school, his mother started dating a director who encouraged Carson to get involved in acting. What started off as a few commercials and minor roles on television ended with him landing major roles in television and film. He received a Golden Globe award at age fourteen and was expected to land many major roles following that. However, at age sixteen, he took a step away from his career in acting to focus on school. His father was becoming more active in his life and was putting pressure on him to follow in his footsteps so that one day, he would be able to take over the family business. After years of intensive homeschooling, he graduated high school two years early and spent five years at Columbia where he earned a bachelors and masters degree in business. It definitely delighted his father but after years of hard work and little time to play, he decided to spend a year relaxing before starting to work for his father's company. That one year turned into two, and Carson still hasn't officially accepted a position with his father yet. He moved back to California, bought an apartment on the beach and is slowly stepping back into his acting career with a few voice acting roles here and there. However, in an effort to appease his father, this spring he co-founded The Koch House, a homeless shelter for runaway youth, in Manhattan with him. He doesn't necessarily have a passion for social work but as his father always said, "a good image is everything".

Secret(s):
He slept with Alexandra Collins on the night of her eighteenth birthday. It's sounds bad and Carson knows it, but he honestly isn't attracted to her like that. He was beyond wasted when he got a call from her asking if she could spend the night at his apartment. She had snuck out to go to some club in LA with her friends and claimed that she was too drunk to go home without being killed by her father. He had no reservations in letting her stay the night and even if he wasn't intoxicated, he probably would have said yes to. He nearly grew up at her house, being best friends with Owen, so of course he wanted to look out for her. He has no recollection of what went on that night but woke up with her next to him naked and tangled in his bed sheets. What choice did he have but to ask her to promise to never speak of that night again? If Owen found out, their friendship would unquestionably be finished, and besides that, he didn't want Alexandra to think that there was anything to what had happened. Just two people, far too drunk, who made a mistake. It's a secret that Carson wishes he didn't have to hide but since he can't go back in time, he's going to do everything in his power to make sure that it remains a secret.

Positive Traits:
Personable, Lively, Charming

Character Flaws:
Indecisive, Over thinking, Hot-tempered

Personality:
In a world of guys just looking for the next girl to bang, Carson is a pretty decent guy. He's thoughtful and it surprises people how he takes things to heart and is actually a pretty sensitive and deep guy. He's not an open book though, so not everyone sees this side to him, but he still isn't the type to just screw people over just because he doesn't know them. He has too much of a conscious to knowingly do wrong to people, which is probably why he's felt so guilty about sleeping with Owen's little sister. Most people know him as someone who's always willing to have fun and who seems to be able to talk to anyone, a stranger or best friend, without things every being awkward. He's personable and easily to converse with, mostly because he never takes things too seriously and likes to keep his relationships easy and light.

One of his major flaws is how he over thinks things. He doesn't usually have problems with people but when he does, or when he thinks that he's done something wrong, it can take him days to get over it. He's always suffering from internal conflicts over whether he's making the right choice for not only himself, but the people around him. This often leads him to be indecisive. He struggles to make up his mind on decisions big or small because he tends to weigh to pros and cons of each more than necessary. Both of these are flaws that he keeps on the inside, so most people don't know that he's struggling. His most obvious flaw to others is how hot-tempered he can get, especially when drunk.

Likes:

Dislikes:
Motels | Rodents | Veal | Confined spaces | Christmas shopping | Rumors | Paparazzi | Divorce, even though his parents' wasn't horrible | Jigsaw puzzles | Horror movies | Sleeping past noon

Fears:
He doesn't have any exceptionally unusual fears. They're really just the expected ones: becoming friendless, disappointing his father, his mother dying/being abused, growing old, becoming sick to a point where he can't care for himself, Michael Meyers.

Aspirations:
He's destined to take over his father's share in Koch Industries, and he's accepted that. He wouldn't want the spot going to some distant cousin or overzealous unrelated Harvard graduate, so he plans on stepping up to the plate when the time comes. In line with more of his own dreams, he and Owen have always talked about opening up a big night club in New York one day, so that's definitely on his list. He wants to meet Mila Kunis (his guilty pleasure celebrity crush), one of the few celebrities he hasn't been acquainted yet with, visit Tahiti and hopefully settle down with a beautiful girl and start a family.

Tinashé remembered when Captain America slowly faded into some other action film that seemed to be a good follow-up when she was actually coherent enough to focus. To be completely honest, after Carson made himself a bit more comfortable by wrapping an arm around her, Shay's mind may or may not have blanked out. She remembered being really warm and snuggling a bit closer to him. However, if anyone ever asked her or came with photographic proof of said occurrence, she might offer a bold-faced lie. Whether or not she chose to acknowledge the truth of the matter does not mean a thing, but the point is that Shay's tough girl act is still very much a façade and she very much indeed loves cuddling. And sitting there, relaxed in Carson's arms despite some futile attempt on her brain's part to remind her that she wasn't supposed to be getting this close to him, Shay felt...safe and who was she to deny warmth?

Tinashé did not remember how they had gotten to the spare bedroom. Granted, at some point, she had dozed off just a bit and recalled Carson asking her about ordering something because one of the servers had come into the room. At the same time, a nice cozy blanket of grogginess had overcome her earlier bad mood and she hadn't been able to give him much of anything save for a mumble on the negative side and practically draped herself over his lap. Which, if she were more conscious and in her right (or wrong, depending on how you would look at the situation) mind, she probably would have blushed and scrambled away with some flippant yet flirtatious comment like, "Oh, couldn't help myself! You're just irresistible." Which still would not have been a good idea, but at least the coquettish antics would have been true to the girl she was more comfortable with being. Yet and still, as the morning light streamed in through blinds her arms were too short to at this distance to close, Tinashé found herself awake and attempting to roll over only to come face to face with a still sleeping Carson.

Her first instinct was to almost panic. She wasn't dumb enough to get in the same, or at least somewhat of the same, situation as Carson and Alexandra, right? She couldn't possibly be that ridiculous. Yet and still, there was no denying the elation that filled her upon realizing that, yes, her clothes were very much still on and so were his. She sighed then, but upon glancing back at his still sleeping face, relaxed back down on the pillow. She didn't know how many minutes went by - two, three, maybe five - that she just stayed there, watching him...taking in the way that his lashes curled just slightly at the tips and how she had never noticed it before, how he looked much younger in sleep, so relaxed...

Tinashé sat up quickly after that, shaking her head as if to rid herself of any other thoughts leading her to do something stupid. She couldn't just forget about yesterday. Couldn't just forget that Lex had text her and Carson had confirmed it and yeah, her sister could chalk it up to her being foolish (which she was), but nothing either of them could say would make the situation go away. It had happened. She was not going to hold it over either of their heads, but she couldn't go back to having a crush on Carson and it being harmless and there being no worries like feelings her little sister might not have told her about. Besides, wasn't the purpose of her tour supposed to be her getting over her crush on Carson?

Settling with that mind frame and resolve, Tinashé cast Carson one more glance before scooping up her phone and leaving the room, ignoring the small part of her that wanted to curl back in bed with him. Normally, she would have simply gone to one of the kitchens and made breakfast. Sure, she might have chefs at her beck and call, but Shay was her father's daughter and well, she liked to cook. And say what you will about her character any other day, but the singer could throw down in the kitchen when she wanted. However, she recalled making plans and sure, there might have been the remnants of a headache due to drinking only a little more wine than the food she took in, she still had plans for the day. So, checking her phone to see that it was about nine in the morning, Shay headed to her room - a little over five minutes of a venture due to the fact that she was actually taking her time. Upon getting there, she noticed Alexandra draped over it and rolled her eyes. "Seriously," she hissed to herself more than anyone else before rolling her eyes and getting to her closet. She would deal with her sister later.

After showering and brushing her teeth, Shay returned into the bedroom area with an outfit lined up along with some Jimmy Choo wedges. The cute printed romper would be enough to both convince Colette that she did not shop at thrift stores on a regular basis and that no, she did not need to talk about last night. Even though her best friend probably would still want to talk anyway. It was after she at least had on her bracelet and necklace, along with the rest of her clothes save for her shoes, that Shay turned to Alexandra and sat on the bed where her sister's face was. "Alright, now that you've hogged my bed..." She would have continued using her loud-but-not-yelling voice had she not noticed the streak of dried tears and makeup on Lex's face. Shay bit her lower lip softly. It was times like these, when Alexandra either didn't know her guard was down or when she actually let her guard down that Shay longed - more than anything - to be the big sister she deserved.

Blinking back emotions that threatened to come to her own face, Shay went to the bathroom, wet a few pieces of tissue just a bit, and returned to Lex's side to wipe the stains away. They could worry about the sheets and blankets later. She wasn't going to be surprised that the cold water against Lex's warm skin awoke her, but she shook her sister a bit and called to her to help along. "Hey, Lex. Wake up. We've got plans today and you better wake up in the next ten minutes or I swear I will jump your ass." She didn't wait for her sister to come with her when she left. She would send staff members up with breakfast in a bit, Shay decided as she slid into her wedges and left the room.

On her way to the kitchen, she glanced at her phone to see a response from Owen. Finally. Responding to him, she sent out a few other texts.

It was another one of those nights.

Even with the water, the past few drinks were starting to hit her. Her hand pressed up against the temple of her head, the young woman struggled to actually keep her sister in her line of sight - the world spun so much that, while standing still, Ari seemed to be moving in and out of her focus. "Maybe that's not such a bad idea." The words were slurred, but at least she was still conscious. That, Colette would commend herself for.

Why was she there again? Right. She was mad at Ari; the anger turning out to be largely unjustified. "I'm just going to-" She was finding it hard to search for the right words to express her mind, in the end simply resorting to stumbling away from her twin and toward whichever direction was the opposite from Ariana. In the background, a server's voice seemingly expressed concern, but the brunette simply waved her off. She can at least make it to bed - hopefully. If there was one thing she knew for certain, it was that she was going to have a wicked hangover once this night is over. And what a hell of a night it was. From her pocket she searched for her phone, her eyes narrowing to read over the text once more. It was undeniable, written in that small font. Carson is never going to have kids once she is done with him.

To Shay:
W need t tslk

At least she managed a few letters that went into the words she tried to express. Just as she hit the send button, another faint vibration caught her attention, this one from another one of those mistakes she had made this evening. Fuck. This was going to be one hell of an explanation, and all of this resulted from another bad decision made with alcohol.

To Owen:
Fprgt it

And that was all she managed before the young woman collapsed.

Thursday, July 2nd | 10:00 A.M. | Beverly Hills, CA

Outfit ll Hair ll Bedroom

Pain. A dull, thudding pain.

When Colette opened her eyes, the light that streamed through the window pierced her sight as she groaned into the sheets that were now pulled over her head. Let me guess. Of the pieces she still remembered, they all had one link: Alcohol. How she had even made it into bed was beyond her - in fact, she did not, but a few that remained during clean-up had pulled the young brunette into her room. Another groan was heard when she decided that it was now or never, and threw the sheets off of her clothes that still smelt faintly of alcohol. The bright light was better this time, but that did not stop Colette from rushing over to the window and drawing the blinds close with one smooth motion. God. Why was it that she never considers consequences such as these before she starts drinking?

Now was time for the daily update of "what the hell did I do last night?" Back in the upper east side, if it was not all over social media then it was on the front page of those papers that are designed to entertain the most simple-minded of elites. This time, she chose her phone to remind her of her mistakes, and the first text that popped up was no doubt that from her best friend.

To: Shay
Damn right we need to talk.

This time, her text was coherent, and after sending it and looking over the sent texts, the third groan of the morning was heard from Colette. Her drunken texts sounded like that of an uneducated third grader.

To: Shay
Don't think I've forgotten. Invite her at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any catfights.

To: Carson
Oh after I'm done with you...

To: Owen
If the text from last night was undecipherable, I said forget it. As Ari always says, I was being overly-dramatic.

From there she walked toward the mirror, looking at the smudged make-up and the wrinkled clothes. I look like I just had one hell of a one night stand. There was a difference between actually having one and being seen as having one when none happened. Walking toward where her luggages laid, Colette managed to piece together a presentable set of outfit despite the thousand drums that were going off at once in her head. A Valentino dress was the way to go, chosen for the simplicity that it requires to be put on. And when in doubt, always choose black. For more comfort rather than another source of pain for her feet, high-heeled Prada boots had the same dark color that she conveniently chose. While her outfit was better than what most hungover citizens could piece together, Colette chose to give up on taming the second-day curls, resorting instead to pulling two braids to the back of her head, clipping them in with unnecessary difficulty in actually figuring out how the pins worked.

There concluded her morning routine paired with the sweet sensation of hangover that made her uneasy even thinking about breakfast. However, seeing that Shay was already up, there was only one place she could be. Even if she was not, Colette was going to make that girl give an explanation and she was going to give it good. If Carson still wanted to keep his balls, he would also need a damn good excuse to get him out of this one.

Thus toward the kitchen she walked, her eyes once again suffering from the morning light that streamed through the windows of the estate. Was it only her or did she find windows to be unnecessary at this point? Already, she could smell the food wafting through the kitchen from those early-wakers that she deemed to have no lives. Taking a cup of water for good measures, Colette sniffed out her friend like a police dog, immediately walking over to block Shay's path.

Raising her hand, it was no surprise that Colette's first greeting was: "I know. I look like I just walked out of an episode of the Walking Dead. But you, girl, are going to be so dead if you don't give me a valid explanation."

The only positive to being stressed all night that once he fell asleep, he was out like a light. In fact, the hour or two leading up to that was somewhat foggy too. He had no idea what movie they had turned on after Captain America, but halfway through the second movie, she had fallen asleep and he was just as close to doing so too. No amount of tiredness could rid him of the memory of how natural it felt to have her pressed against his body in an intimate, yet non-sexual way. It was comfortable and right, and while he longed to stay there with her nestled against his chest forever, he knew that it was only a matter of minutes before he would fall asleep too. The fear of Owen walking in on them the next morning, regardless of it being a completely innocent night, was enough to get his tired body up. He kept Shay wrapped in her blanket as he lifted the tiny, and now seemingly fragile body into his arms.

His intentions were to leave Shay in her bedroom alone, but it only took a second's worth of a glimpse of Alexandra's lifeless body on her bed for him to make a quick u-turn. He probably could have left Shay there with her. Both of the girls were tiny, especially when compared to the bed's size, but part of him wasn't ready to let her go. Still, he couldn't sleep with her. Even if it was completely innocent, what would happen if someone walked in on them the next morning? It sure as hell wouldn't look as innocent as it would have ten years ago. So, he set out in search of a spare room, now with the intent of leaving Shay there and then going to find his own room. He found one, and gently placed her on the bed before pulling the covers carefully over her resting body. It was much harder to find his own though, as it seemed like every door he opened already had someone occupying the bed. Maybe he gave up too quickly, but sooner than later, he ended up in bed with Shay.

A few hours later, a vibration under his pillow pulled him out of one of the best sleeps he could remember. It took him a second, but he quickly remembered that he hadn't slept alone last night. In a panic, he tossed the blanket off of his own body to find that he was thankfully fully clothed. Or, at least in his t-shirt and boxers. It was enough for him to know that nothing more than sleep had ensued hours before and for that, he let out a dramatic sigh of relief that was matched by a small smile when he opened the text that had woken him. Shay had clearly woken up and left the room before him, and was now in the kitchen. Did she even need to ask if he wanted an omelette? When would the answer to that ever be no?

To: Shay
Of course I want an omelette. Who do u think I am?

The next message he received quickly wiped the smirk off of his face. Colette had found out about what he had done. Even if she didn't outright say it, he knew that she knew, and he guessed that it was Shay who had told her. Though it was going to be one more person to have to swear into secrecy regarding Owen finding out, he should have known that Colette would hear about it at some point. If it wasn't Shay who told her, it would have been Alexandra. He only hoped that twin telepathy wasn't actually real, because the last thing that he needed was Owen's girlfriend to hear about it too. Rather than explain himself via text though, he thought it would be easier to act clueless. What was he supposed to say now, especially when Shay already seemed to be okay with him?

After making sure that her hair was pulled back just loosely enough to not get in her way and be somewhat stylish enough to make it through the day, Tinashé headed into one of the home's many kitchens only to be surprised at seeing Jamie. Despite her best intentions yesterday, she had not been able to speak to directly or even see the blonde. Granted, it probably had something to do with Jamie having never left her room for the summer. Still, Shay didn't know that and genuinely felt a hint of remorse at leaving the party early without at least saying hello to Jamie. Owen being upset that she abandoned him? She could give zero fucks? An actually intelligent individual whom Shay liked to sit and talk with? That was someone she could feel bad about. She smiled a bit for the one of many summer roommates she was bound to interact with now that they were all together. "Hey, Jamie. Sorry about not saying hi last night," Shay said as she stepped into the spacious area. She loved the kitchen and there were a good number of times when she was on tour that she ended up cooking for everyone in her bus because she hated the idea of fast food or stopping at some restaurant. Her eyes ran over the kitchen pensively before she hummed. The smell of waffles, only the start of what the kitchen staff would do since she and Lex typically weren't always up at this time, filled the air. "Making more food and a few drinks if you want anything." Shay turned to the fridge to at least make a few drinks when a few of the kitchen staff came back, inventory in their hands.

"Good morning, Miss Kachingwe. Miss White." Shay offered them the same smile she bestowed upon Jamie. "Morning, fellas." Hans, one of her favorite chefs to work with, smirked at her as she pulled out some strawberries and a few other ingredients. "I'm guessing you need assistance with breakfast?" Shay beamed. "Yeah, if you could get started on the mimosas and maybe some refresher drinks, that would be great. Ooh, and if Charmaine could go back to making waffles in case anyone else wants them, that would be awesome. Oooh, and also, get someone to send a mimosa to my sister. She's in my room and is probably gonna want one. Everyone else could take a break for the rest of the morning." And no one argued and went about heeding her warning. Whenever Tinashé decided to take over the kitchen, it meant that she needed to be in the kitchen. The staff had learned some time ago that trying to thwart her only left them getting plates and the like thrown at them, and Pierce begged for that not to happen again. Smirking at the memory, Shay pulled out her phone again so that she could send some text messages before setting it down on one of the counters. It was probably a shame that Shay didn't include Ariana in that mass text, but she also didn't talk to the eldest Rockefeller. She didn't have her number, so she needed to send Owen a message about his girl.

To: Owen, Aiden, Lex, Chris, Rose, Oliver
Making breakfast if any1 has a preference.

To: Owen
Also, if u expect me 2 b nice 2 ur girl, I'd advise u send her ass 2 come get food.

Leaving the drinks and waffles to the other two chefs, Tinashé was set to get her other ingredients when a lone figure stood in her way. Shay didn't even move at that, only taking in her friend's classy yet still somewhat disgruntled appearance. She could tell Colette had not had a good night whereas Shay, despite everything that occurred, slept pretty comfortably. "Well, damn, no 'good morning, bestie?' No 'wow, you actually look like you tried this morning.'" Shay exclaimed, putting on a mocking impression of a typical Colette act. It was probably just a bit off, but it was her trying to get the tension of yesterday out of the air. Especially considering Jamie was still in the dark. Shay hummed thoughtfully as she stepped around Colette to get some eggs, milk, cheese and a few other ingredients for omelets. She was also going to sauté some potatoes and maybe some stand-alone scrambled eggs and meats in case no one wanted an omelet. It was probably a lot, but Shay needed the action. Needed the business. If there was anything she knew, it was that she could do very well in the culinary arts world if her music career did not work out.

"And there's nothing really to talk about...right now," she continued, setting everything on the kitchen island and then going back to find some vegetables. Satisfied with what she had, she set to work by chopping. "They fucked, neither of them even remember getting in bed together, I was mad and talked to him, and that's really been the end of it. No secret relationship anyone should know about and for the love of all that is holy, do not tell anyone else." Shay tossed Colette a look before returning her gaze to the task at hand. Her phone buzzed on the counter with a response from Alexandra and Carson, conveniently, and she smirked at his message followed with a roll of the eyes at Lex's. A beat later, a shadow passed over her face and she sighed, pausing in her onslaught on the spinach leaves she had just washed off. "I have absolutely no idea what to do right now, Bitchlette," Shay murmured, not because she was trying to keep anything from Jamie but because her voice suddenly was smaller with feelings that it was too early in the morning to be confronted with. However, it wasn't like she could stay in denial forever.

Ariana had seen Colette wasted too many times to show as much concern as the servers cleaning up around them did. Her eyes followed her sister's staggering form until she turned a corner and was out of sight, at which point Ari decided that she should probably be heading to bed too. While it was probably expected that she would spend her nights in Owen's room, she had requested her own bedroom as well. She needed a place to store her things and a place to get away to if she was ever feeling reclusive and with the surplus of space in the Collins' home, it wasn't a problem. Although she was leaning towards sleeping on her own tonight, she reconsidered the social repercussions. It would probably lead at least a few of the others to suspect that maybe she and Owen had had a fight, or more accurately, that she wasn't as into him as she portrayed. Most of the others probably wouldn't pick up on it, but Colette would. While Ari suspected that her sister wasn't going to be in any state to analyze anything tomorrow morning, she wasn't going to risk it. Just as she pulled out her iPhone to text Owen, she found that he had beaten her to the punch.

To: Owen
Omw to your room ;) Had to deal with my sister

Although Colette wasn't in the best state, at least Ariana knew that she was alive... for now. The same couldn't be said of her brother, who she hadn't seen all night. A quick text was necessary to insure that he was actually still on the premises.

To: Christopher
You better be asleep

On her way to Owen's room, she nearly collided with Oliver, whose eyes were focused on his cell phone as he turned the corner leaving the theater. Normally, Ariana would have scowled at him and told him to watch where he was going, but the focus and elation directed at his phone screen was all too familiar to her. It either meant that Alexandra had agreed to date him, or he had received insider information on someone for one of his blog posts. The latter seemed all the more likely.

"What are you doing down here all alone?" Her stare was intense and piercing to a point that she knew it wouldn't take long for him to crack.

"I was... uh, watching a movie. Yeah, watching a movie. Captain America." It was just his luck that he would suddenly draw a blank to the room that he was coming out of.

"Really? A movie all alone? Your little blonde girlfriend isn't with you?" Ariana's eyes shifted between him and his phone, which she grabbed before he had a chance to answer. It was still unlocked, providing easy access to the freshly snapped photos he had taken. The photo wasn't the best. Although it was clear that the side profile of the male on the couch was Carson, Tinashé's head was nestled on Carson's shoulder, making her face invisible. Ariana knew that it was her without a second thought, but it would be easy to claim that the girl was someone else.

When she had first stumbled upon Oliver, she suspected that maybe he had caught Christopher and Shay or Alexandra making out, or with her brother's track record, maybe even one of the young female servers. It would have made sense for it to be Carson or Aiden and one of the party guests, and she probably would have even believed it to be Rose and some stranger over Carson and Tinashé. Granted, they weren't actually doing anything sexual in the photo, but since when were they that close of friends that they wrapped themselves around each other like that?

Oliver wasn't sure how to react when she took his phone and silently reacted to the photo. He wasn't going to deny that he had taken them, since she had basically seen him leaving the theater and was the one person who knew that this was in his character, but he really didn't want Ariana being the first to see it. Honestly, Oliver lacked enough romantic experience to even think that Shay and Carson were anything more than friends. He genuinely believed that they were just relaxing and watching a movie together, but assumed that the angle he had taken it at would force people to speculate that they were more than just friends, even if he didn't believe that.

He opened his mouth to try to explain, but Ariana cut him off by tossing the phone back at him and waving down a passing server. "Would you mind getting two Malibu Bay Breezes for me? You can bring them into the theater." Oliver might had been able to hide his blog for years, but Ariana knew that he needed a good fake out to disguise the fact that he had taken the photo. The Collins' house had ample security. No one was going to believe that the paparazzi had magically found their way inside. They needed a beard and the idea of some low-paid server wanting to make a quick buck by selling a picture of celebrities to some seedy gossip blog would work well enough. When the man disappeared, Ariana turned back to Oliver. "You're going to wait to post those until I tell you to." It wasn't a question, request or suggestion. It was an order, and Oliver knew it. He was grateful when Ariana ended the conversation on that note and they both took off in opposite directions for bed.

Despite a reasonable amount of anxiety regarding his encounter with Ariana the night before, Oliver was able to sleep soundly for a good nine hours. He was showered and dressed by nine and spent an hour and a half on his computer attempting to draft a post for the photos he had taken the night before. By ten-thirty, it seemed hopeless. He had posted pictures of Shay and Carson before, but none of them had peaked Ari's interest like this one. That only spelled trouble for him, and although he didn't mind dishing out harmless gossip on his friends, he didn't want to hurt either of them like he was beginning to believe the Rockefeller did.

He expected that at this time of day, most of the energy would be accumulating in the kitchen and he was right. As he walked inside, he first spotted Tinashé working with food by the counter. "What's cookin', good lookin'?" he rattled off, making his presence known as he stepped in further. Despite thinking himself to be the master of cheesy pickup lines, none of them ever seemed to get him more of an eye roll in reaction. Colette was standing close by, but Oliver didn't expect her to respond if he greeted her, so he continued past the pair and towards Jamie, who sat at a table. She had a plate of half-eaten waffles in front of her and while they smelled tempting, he decided to wait for whatever Shay was cooking. "G'morning!" he smiled as he sat down across from her. He hadn't seen Jamie all night, but that was nothing knew. They were too close for him to need to question how she had spent her night. "What are the plans for today?" He assumed that he would be hanging out with her more than anyone else this summer.

Carson was comfortable enough in the Collins house that he didn't feel the need to shower or even get fully dressed before going downstairs. He sheepishly trudged down the hallway in search of the his bedroom, which had seemed impossible to find the previous night in the midst of being so tired, the hallways being dark, and having Shay sleeping in his arms. It really wasn't as difficult to locate as he had acted, though, seeing as it took him less than a minute to pick out the room with his still-packed luggage situated in a corner. He was still half-asleep and definitely not in the mood to unpack everything right now, so after unzipping each pack and dumping their contents on the floor of the room, he managed to weed out a pair of flannel pajama pants. He slid them on over his boxers, ran a hair through his tussled hair, and began back down the hallway towards one of the staircases.

He was so close to going downstairs when he passed Shay's door, which he knew Alexa was behind. He was so close to ignoring the problem that had started the summer off with a bang, but he couldn't. What Tinashé had said the night before, about Alexandra maybe not knowing that he didn't have feelings for her, was bothering him. He truly didn't have any feelings for her like that, and after the whole ordeal, he was at a point where he didn't even think that he could like her as a friend, but he didn't want to hurt her. If she was really oblivious enough to think that that night had meant something to him, he at least owed it to her to shut that fantasy down. It wouldn't be fair to let her keep believing that there was something there between them when there definitely was not. Plus, it would eliminate the chance of her trying to make a move on him or suggest anything about the night in front of Owen or any of the others.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

There was no turning back now. He gently turned the doorknob and pushed the door open. There were no shouts of objection, so he proceeded inside. He quickly regretted his decision to do this, knowing that he was probably digging his own grave, but he spoke anyway. "Alexa?" She was laying on the bed and he was unsure if she was even awake or not. When the blankets began to move and she ackonwledged his presence, he tried to relax a little bit. At least she wasn't screaming at him to get out. He slowly moved towards her and took a seat at the far edge of the bed. If he was going to say something that she didn't want to hear, he wanted to do it as nicely as possible and standing at the door and saying it wouldn't cut it. "Look, I know you told Shay about what happened between us. It wasn't right of me to ask you not to tell anyone, and I'm kind of glad that you did tell her, but she told me that you might still think that there's... something between you and I, and I just wanted to make sure that wasn't the case." He didn't want to give her time to object, so he kept talking. "You're such a cool girl and I'm sure there are tons of guys out there who are closer in age with you... and not your brother's best friend, who would love to hang out with you, but I just don't feel that way about you. What we did that night never should have happened and I really am sorry if I led you to believe that it was anything more than just a drunk mistake. So... are we cool?" Maybe it wasn't the most sentimental way to end his apology, but Carson never claimed to be a wordsmith.

After her texts were sent, Alexandra finished wiping away the makeup and tear stains from her own face, and shuffled over to Shay's vanity to find actual makeup remover. She needed to shower this morning to wake up, but for now, removing all of the makeup would do. Plus, at least one mimosa should have been on its way up by now. She hadn't had more than a sip or two of alcohol last night and felt like she deserved a light drink this morning. Now that her father and Aimee were gone, she was sure that Owen was going to try to overcompensate by being extra annoying, and there was no way that a cup of coffee was going to be enough to prepare her for that.

To: Shay
Are the europe gifts supposed to be my birthday present too or....

Bare faced and feeling a bit more awake, she had buried herself back under Shay's warm comforter as she waited for her drink to be brought up. When she heard three knocks on the door, she was sure it was someone with a drink for her. "Come in," she called out from under the heavy blanket. The voice that answered her sent shivers down her spine and was instantly recognizable as Carson's. Her heart felt ready to jump out of her chest and she smiled almost instantly. She was definitely caught off guard and even went so far to wish that he had walked in on her getting out of the shower over him seeing her with no makeup on. In an attempt to help her messy appearance and probably to release some anxiety, she ran her fingers through her hair. "Good morning." Her voice was meeker than normal, but clearly hopeful. The smile faded as he began to speak, though. There were two main thoughts running through her mind as they spoke: I can't believe that bitch told him I told her! and His eyes are so gorgeous. In the midst of his explanation, she had shed the blankets from her body and shifted closer to him on the bed. Was he... breaking up with her? No, since they never did actually date, but Alexa felt like that was an appropriate way to look at it.

In an attempt to preserve her happiness, her mind seemed to switch back into fantasy land. Of course he was trying to act like that night meant nothing, now that Shay was becoming jealous. Alexandra had witnessed first hand how her sister had tried to hog him all of the previous night, and how she had taken an entire bottle of wine up to her room after Alexandra texted her. She liked to think that Shay was an alcoholic but really, an entire bottle of wine for herself? Obviously she was heartbroken that Alexandra had beaten her to Carson. She was jealous and had probably put Carson up to this so she could have him all for herself. Typical Shay, trying to be every fucking guy's favorite person. Pierce and Owen always seemed to favor Tinashé to Alexandra, and while her behavior probably had something to do with it, she wasn't going to think that logically now. Shay wasn't going to win this time. Before Carson could react, Alexa pulled his face towards hers and kissed him. It lasted for no longer than two seconds before he pulled away in a probably shocked and disgruntled manner, but Alexandra only smiled when he did. "Of course we're cool, Carson," she giggled.

As one would expect, Carson was more than caught off guard when Alexandra grabbed his face and pushed it against her own. The kiss didn't last for more than a couple of seconds, or the amount of time it took him to realize what she had just done and for him to pull away. What was she doing? Was he speaking a different language when he had just told her that he did not like her like that, and that them ever having any type of romantic relationship was completely out of the question? Either that, or she was delusional. The way that she looked at him with those innocent puppy eyes and giggled after he frantically pulled away pointed towards the latter. As the son of a billionaire, and a popular, good-looking guy, Carson had a decent-sized ego but he didn't think there was anything that captivating about him to make Alexandra obsessed with him. He was sure that she had slept with other guys before, probably even dated some, so why was she so unable to let this go? Even if in some alternate dimension he did have feelings for her, it's not like Owen wouldn't completely destroy the relationship. And he didn't have feelings for her! That was the entire point of this.

He had no idea how to respond to what she had just done, but without realizing it, he had stuck his hands out in an attempt to block any future attacks. "Alexa... no..." He was still caught off guard and considered reiterating his lecture, but if that hadn't worked the first time, it probably wasn't going to work another time either. Instead, he figured that he would have to be more upfront about it. "You can't just do that! Did you not hear what I just said? I don't like you like that, Alexa. I don't want to kiss you, I don't want to hug you, I don't want to touch you. You're a kid and my best friend's little sister, it's completely fucked up for me to see you as anything more than that and I don't. So can we just stop this? Things don't need to be awkward since we're going to be in the same house together all summer, but can you just get it through your head that there will never be anything between us? Never." He was standing up by now, backing away from the bed as if he was expecting her bed to explode at any minute. He still wasn't trying to be mean but maybe now he was beginning to see why Owen got so fed up with her. She didn't take no for an answer and didn't seem to hear anything that she didn't want to hear.

There was no way that he could continue the conversation. He had to get out of that room and out of the house too. Even if he could compose himself enough to go down to the kitchen and socialize with the others, what was he going to do when Alexandra came down bawling her eyes out and her finger pointed towards him. Even if Owen was still ignorant to the secret, Shay and Colette weren't, and it would only take a scene like that to intrigue everyone else.

He headed back to his room, swapped his pajamas for a tank top, board shorts and sandals, and headed downstairs. Before brushing through the front door to find his car, he sent out a few texts. He couldn't pull a Chris and disappear without at least letting everyone where he was going. That would only be more suspicious.

To: Shay
Ur sister is crazy. I'm omw to the beach so I'll meet up w you later I guess?

To: Owen, Aiden, Chris, Oliver
I'm heading back to my apartment in Malibu to grab a few things that I forgot. LMK where you guys are going today and I'll meet up with you.

Owen shot Tinashé a look of disapproval as she emphasized what her girlfriends were doing today. It didn't take much to interpret that as her way of stating that Ariana wasn't welcomed, or at least that Shay wasn't going to make the effort to invite her. He shouldn't have expected that Shay and Ari would just magically get along now that they were living together but he wished they could. It would make life a lot easier if he didn't have to worry about either girl snubbing the other. Not only for the sake of avoiding drama, but he also didn't want to have to pick a side. Ariana was his girlfriend; someone that he loved and saw as someone he could eventually marry, while Shay was his sister; someone that he was expected to be loyal to no matter what. Both relationships were so important to him that he couldn't imagine having to choose one over the other.

He rolled his eyes as she accused him of being a stick in the mud. If being responsible and cautious was equal to that, then so be it. Someone in the family had to set the boundaries and at the very least, respect the law. He wasn't sorry that he didn't approve of underage drinking or recklessly club-hopping at bizarre hours of the night. That wasn't his scene and he didn't want it to be his sisters' either. "Your plans sound fine," he replied, shooting her one last look that he hoped signify the message of "please don't start this early in the morning". "But only half of us are going to be able to go to Greystone. You know that Jamie, Oliver, Chris and Alexandra are underage. They won't get in." It was wishful thinking. From his own experience dealing with Alexandra, he knew that the right connections could get a twelve-year-old into even the most exclusive club in Los Angeles and if anyone had the right connections, it was this friend group. He was actually pretty sure that it had been Greystone Manor itself where Alexandra and his mother had been photographed doing a line of cocaine in a VIP section. Still, he wasn't going to approve of them going when it was illegal. He knew it probably wasn't going to change his strong minded sister's plans, but he was going to try.

The omelet that Shay had slid to Oliver smelled good enough to remind Owen that he was hungry. He followed closely behind Shay as she moved back to the stove to work on another omelet. "Would you mind making some green tea for Ari?" he asked one of the kitchen staff members who looked uncomfortably displaced with their job being unnecessary. It had probably been a while since they hadn't been needed to cook. Tinashé was the only one in the family who had cooking in her blood and Owen didn't trust Alexandra to use the microwave, nonetheless the stove, so the kitchen staff had been essential more than usual while she was on tour. He returned his attention to his sister when the kettle was set on an unoccupied burner. "I'll take mine with cheese," he grinned, in an attempt to lighten the mood. Plus, he really did want one. "And you're still not off the hook about last night. What happened? You went to bed that early?" He was curious about what had happened with the glass breaking, or whatever that story was, but there was also a part of him that wanted confirmation that she hadn't ended up with Carson last night. He didn't think it was true but this would just verify that.

Just as he thought of Carson, he found his phone vibrating with a message from him. Owen found it to be a bit odd that he would be running off so early, without even getting breakfast, but at the same time, it wasn't so conspicuously strange that Owen put too much thought into it before texting back.

To: Carson
Shay's making omelets just stay for breakfast and then we'll all drive over there w/ u. I figured we could go to the beach anyway

Tinashé bristled at Owen's forgetting that Shay could get literally anyone in to Greystone Manor, partly because she knew that he knew she could. He was only trying to have control over everything this summer and she was not having it. Like how he was probably going to try to control what she does with their home's nightclub, but wasn't going to get away with it. That was mostly Shay's territory anyway. She didn't feel like dealing with her overbearing brother and when he asked one of the staff to make Ariana some tea, her expression soured immensely. Filling the omelet she was currentlyly working on with cheese and then sprinkling some on top, Shay slid it onto a warm plate. Afterwards, she added more vegetables to the other empty skillet and egg into a separate, before gathering the plate and walking over to her brother.

She did not know what was on her face and at this point, could care less what he saw on her face. She just stared at him when he asked about her disappearance last night, her mind flashing back to all that ocured - Lex's text, said girl pulling away from her, her and Carson talking, waking up in Carson's arms. It all replayed in lightning speed and Shay blinked, peering down at her brother without a trace of a smile or even the defiant smirk she typically regarded him with. "Like I said, you're too late and I don't want to talk anymore," Tinashé found herself staring at her brother's inquisitive eyes a bit longer before breaking contact when she heard Ariana's voice, turning away and heading back to the stove. She did not comment on Ariana's existence nor did she acknowledge it at first, opting only to make the next omelet for sweet Aiden. "Working on it right now," she told her fellow artist and would have continued in her quest to ignore the bane of her childhood had Ariana not directed an inquiry towards her. She had asked about Alexandra eating at all, which was in the negative because the wench had yet to have left Tinashé's room, but she didn't feel that it was necessary to answer that question. And when Ariana asked her to make something for her sister, Shay didn't even turn around when she replied, "She's got two feet." It was probably a bit unnecessary and Shay did have every intention of feeding her little sister, she just did not feel it necessary to be as fake as Ariana was. They did not like each other and the sweet lilt of her voice was a fucking lie, and they both knew it.

Still cooking and checking on the egg for Aiden's omelet, Shay glanced over at her phone, unlocking the screen when she did a double-take at Carson's message. Tell me something I don't know, was the first thing that came to her mind at him calling Lex crazy. She was, but she was also lovable and it left her befuddled that Carson would call her such. Pursing her lips, Shay set her spatula down, grabbed a cloth to wipe her hands, and then picked up her phone. While texting him, she decided to text Rose, whom she had not seen since before her departure from the social.

To: Carson
Could've told u that myself. Come eat b4 u leave. What happened?

To: Rose
Where r u? U coming today?

As she returned her phone to its place on the counter, Tinashé heard Alexandra asking Aiden for cupcakes and glanced at her sister, who was currently clad only in a black bikini. Which surely Owen was going throw a bitch fit over because it obviously wasn't their house and Lex wasn't allowed to wear whatever she wanted. Shay had to roll her eyes discreetly at the thought, but did take to noticing that Lex was purposefully not paying her any attention nor asking for anything. Which meant that she was in one of her moods and probably whatever she had discussed with Carson revolved around Shay. Great, she thought, annoyed. Piling the ingredients into the egg with cheese, Shay folded it and slid it onto a plate, handing the newly prepared food to Aiden. "Here you go, love." Smiling for him then, she glanced back at Ariana, more than ready to make something for herself and Lex only instead of concerning herself with her brother's demon of a girlfriend. "Do you want anything?"

Although Alexandra had always thought of Aiden as being a little bit too nice, to a point where her petty self was bothered by it, she was grateful when he allowed her to have one of his cupcakes. One, because they smelled irresistible and two, because she was hungry and didn't want to ask Shay for her food. She had maybe two minutes of peace at most before Owen had to bother her. Sometimes Alexa wondered if Owen had to make a show of his power to her, to compensate for how Ariana probably controlled their relationship. She wouldn't have been surprised. While her brother's successful modelling career made it hard to deny that he was attractive, she felt like Ariana's aura gave her an unattainable status. She didn't need Owen as much as he thought he needed her. The thought made her feel slightly better as he berated her.

Just as soon as Aiden had handed her the cupcake, it was plucked out of her hand by her power hungry older brother. It would have been easy for her to snap at him, accuse him of being a tyrant and asking him if he was in such a pissy mood because he never got laid. It wouldn't have been the first time, but she didn't. It didn't stop her from allowing the thoughts to play out loudly in her head, but she wasn't going to give him an excuse to call her an unruly brat. Instead, she would ignore him. She had a feeling that acting like he was completely invisible would do more to piss him off than talking back would. She attempted to sidestep him after he asserted that not even Aimee would be okay with her wearing the outfit. Does he not understand what a bathing suit is? And that's not saying much. Aimee doesn't like me anyway, she thought. Owen thrust his hand in front of her before she could get away, and without much surprise, continued his lecture. Shay had plans for all of the girls today, blah, blah, blah. She was well aware of that. Her sister had said the same thing to her earlier.

She was actively trying to annoy Owen by giving him the cold shoulder, but even if she did want to scream at him, she wasn't sure if she had it in her in the moment. After Carson had blown up on her, she had shut off her emotions to keep herself composed. So, after making eye contact with him briefly and continuing to give him no reaction, she was finally able to step around him when he diverted his speech to Ariana and Tinashé. She snatched another cupcake from Aiden's stand and made her way to the table. Jamie was sitting there which normally would have turned Alexandra off, but she was too hungry to leave the kitchen all together and didn't mind Oliver that much. She chose a seat at the opposite end of the table though, because she wasn't in the mood to break her silence just yet. Besides, she was sure that Oliver would start a conversation with her sooner than later anyway.

Aiden's cupcake was cooked flawlessly and it satisfied her sweet tooth but she was still hungry for real food. Skipping dinner last night had been a mistake, clearly, since just as hungry as she was, she didn't want to talk to Shay after she had clearly betrayed her regarding Carson. A text message didn't seem as personal and allowed Alexandra to feel like she was still standing her ground, while appeasing her appetite. Though they were only a few feet away, she sent the message.

To: Shay
I'm hungry

There was always some part of her that wanted to repeat lines from some of the earlier African-American comedies or skits, partly because they were usually entertaining and partly because they were relevant. Like right about now when Owen went into one of his inexcusable tirades about what Alexandra was wearing - because he's been doing a great job all these years at controlling anyone other than himself, she began to muse - and pretty much playing his hand as a parent. But what he seemed to forget was that he was not either her father or step-father. He was her brother. An older brother, yes, but only by two years. Which made her more than ready to retort, "You must be out of your ever-loving mind if you think you're talking to anyone like that." And damn it all if the phrase wasn't at the tip of her tongue because she was ready to say some words to Owen. Their summer had not even begun yet and he was already beginning to piss her off just by existing.

However, Tinashé's gaze wasn't on her domineering brother. No, they were on Ariana Rockefeller, regarding the brunette with the same cold rage that Ariana was probably stewing in because Shay refused to play nice with her. That was the difference between the two of them. Tinashé didn't do niceties often. She was rather upfront in that regard. Besides, if two people did not like each other, why pretend? Why go on with a charade that they knew could cause each of them unnecessary stress? Besides, Owen made all of this about himself and it had nothing to do with him. He was not - in any way - involved in Carson and Alexandra's dealings. And he damn sure had no say in how Tinashé felt about Ariana - she could care less that Owen was fucking the entitled bitch. As Owen snapped at Alexandra, Shay continued staring directly at Ariana's face, gaze unwavering and fearless. If Ariana thought she was going to intimidate Shay in any way, she was sorely mistaken and Shay had no qualms in getting that through her head. So enraptured by this exchange of returned hatred was she that her head whipped back in Owen's direction when he addressed her. It took her a minute to actually allow his words to sink in and boy...when they did!

"Owen," she stated simply, voice monotonous and bereft of the emotions surging beneath the cool disposition she regarded her brother with. Inside...inside, she had already leapt to her brother and punched him dead in his pretty little face. How DARE he? He, who was only twenty-three, acting as an authority over she, who was twenty-one!? Who the fuck does he think he is? Tinashé could feel the energy prickling just below the surface of her skin, the anger so intense within her that she could feel it in her nerve-endings. Fuck, she needed Carson right now. She needed Rose. She needed Colette out of this room and now. Faintly, Ariana's voice broke out over the tension in the room and Shay didn't offer her even a glance of acknowledgment. The bitch wasn't worth it and when she spoke, voice dripping with a harsh edge that dared to cut her brother through the electric air that loomed between them, she only regarded him. "You're neither dumb nor deaf, and we are both aware you heard me the first time. Tell her yourself." She didn't care if Owen had another reply or if he even decided to follow her, but she needed to leave. Besides, Owen was fucking lucky if she did say so herself. She hadn't yelled yet.

Grabbing up her phone and a strawberry mimosa, Tinashé glanced down at her phone only briefly seeing the text from Alexandra. Rolling her eyes, Shay turned to Hans, who faced her fully and awaited a response. Above anyone else in the room, he understood that cooking was a thing of solace for her and that Owen just ruined it. Still not able to smile for him, she ordered in her native language, "Rukumbiro fadza bvatura omelet kuitira angu sisi, Hans. Ndino da amwe mweya." He nodded at her request for him to make Alexandra food and once that was out, Shay also grabbed a cupcake and left the room, pausing only a few steps out of the door in order to shoot Carson a text.

To: Carson
Tell me u haven't left yet. Im bout ready 2 kill ur bestie.

Carson was already out the door by the time Owen and Shay had responded to his texts. He did want to explain what had just happened to Shay, especially before Alexandra had a chance to share her twisted version, but it was too complicated to send through text and not important enough for him to want to stick around any longer. He still couldn't believe that Alexa had been so audacious to just kiss him like that after he had stated that he never wanted something like that to happen again. It was completely bizarre and he was still questioning whether it had really happened, or if he was going crazy. In the midst of freaking out over that, he hadn't even realized that he had never retrieved his car keys from his bedroom. So, after finding his car in front of their garage and rummaging through his pockets for a few seconds, he was forced to return inside the home.

He proceeded back up the stairs quickly, but slowed his pace drastically when he reached the top of the stairs. Silence. He didn't hear the sobbing that he expected to be coming from Tinashé's room where he had left Lex minutes before. He wasn't full of himself to an extent where he thought that she should be heartbroken from a guy like him shutting her down, but because even he felt like what he said was a little harsh. Necessary, but harsh. Maybe the silence should have worried him, but he took it as a safe sign to proceed past the door, down the hall and into his own room. His keys were hanging on the closet doorknob and though he didn't remember leaving them there, he wasn't going to question it. He needed to get out of the house. A long drive would be good and then he could spend an hour or two at his apartment, collecting himself before meeting up with the guys. That was the plan, at least until he was back down in the foyer and got another text from Shay.

For a second, he imagined how easy it would have been to simply shrug off the text if Shay was just a friend. If Colette had sent him something like that... if Rose had sent him something like that... if Ariana had sent him something like that... he wouldn't have cared, honestly. Maybe he would have sent back a text saying "that sucks. what happened?", but he wouldn't have been worried about what was really going on. Especially since it was Owen that Shay was angry with, he shouldn't have put much thought into it, because they were siblings. Siblings fought and if anyone was a perfect example of that, it was the Collins family. But because it was Shay who was upset and looking for him, he did an about face from the door and headed down the hall towards the kitchen. According to her and Owen's texts, that was where he was going to find her, but luckily, he didn't need to go all the way there before bumping into her. "What's up?" He didn't want to seem too alarmed or concerned. Carson didn't want to seem like he had cared that much, or changed his course of direction the split second she seemed to be in distress. But he had, and even if he didn't want to acknowledge it now, he was going to have to sooner than later.

In hindsight, her snapping at Owen and not being as patient as she typically was as compared to Alexandra was probably telling. When it came down to it, Shay could be a bit more understanding towards Owen's controlling ways and need for thing to go a specific way. Hell, that was the juggling act she had played with her label since she was signed. Would she play it safe and do as they say? Or take charge with her own creative freedom? Would she argue about the production of a video? Or will she just let it happen and hope for the best? However, that was how the situation panned out - she took charge. Despite living under Pierce and Aimie's roof and very much being a minor back then, Tinashé had done what she needed to do to succeed and survive. She didn't completely sacrifice her morals or character, but she damn sure didn't allow anyone to tell her what to do or force her into situations she wasn't comfortable in. Which was exactly what her problem with Owen was. At the same time, it was just a bit deeper than that.

She was lying to Owen. Granted, he didn't ask her specific question about the night. He did not seem to have any suspicions regarding the events that transpired last night. He seemed genuinely concerned and it was endearing, and it reminded her of that day when he made it very clear that he actually did think of her as a sister. That she wasn't just the daughter of the slut who ruined his parents' marriage. That she wasn't just another shitty excuse of a child living under his father's roof when they already had to deal with Alexandra and the influence her mother seemed to have over her. And Tinashé felt a bit...guilty. She didn't feel like she did anything wrong. Granted, she didn't know how Owen would feel about her falling asleep in his best friend's arms, waking up beside said best friend, or even actually having a thing for them. However, she wasn't the one who possibly (and only because Alexandra seemed to be trying to convince herself more than Shay that they had not slept together) slept with Carson after a dumb night of drinking.

"I should have stayed in Dubai," she grumbled to herself, taking a drink of her mimosa. It was still unknown to her why she suddenly needed Carson. She could have very well snatched Colette up and vented to her about how Owen was being unfair (which was debatable) and how she was almost willing to say "fuck it" and not go through with her plans just to piss him off. It wasn't until she saw that she did not have to walk far because lo and behold, Carson was headed towards her, that she came to that realization. Immediately, she felt relieved and safe enough to actually vent to someone. "Do you want another brother? I know you've got Oliver and everything, which is cool and all, but you can totally have mine because I will be damned if he thinks he's gonna make me play nice with his girlfriend for the entire summer. I refuse. I will fucking leave again, I swear to you, CJ. I will leave and I will go back to Dubai until the end of this summer. I'm not even playing."

It was only a few seconds afterwards, when she had been done speaking a mile a minute, that the guilt settled in. Carson had to deal with Alexandra, whatever the hell that situation had entailed. And here she was whining over what exactly? Owen being a controlling douche? That wasn't news! Shay bit her lower lip gently, bowing her head a little as non-verbal apology. "I'm sorry. You were gonna leave and you're probably still upset, which you should tell me about it because it's probably really bad, and I'm just being a little bitch and you haven't even eaten yet." Not even blinking, she handed him the cupcake. She wasn't in the mood for it anyway, though she would regret the decision to not eat anything later. "I don't know why...I just needed you." Did I really just say that out loud? "In the room. And Owen starting asking about last night...could we just skip to the part where you tell me what happened with Lex?" At this point, anything would be better than dealing with her own admittance.

Carson still had no idea where Alexandra was, and was still convinced that it was more than possible that she had went bawling to Owen after their confrontation. For all he knew, Owen was on the prowl ready to kill him, and here he was walking towards the most populated wing of the house. But comforting Shay was important enough for that fear to remain situated in the back of his mind, especially when he learned that her problem had nothing to do with Alexandra. He wasn't glad that she was having her own problems with Owen, especially when she claimed that he had been asking about the previous night, but he was relieved that the issue didn't involve him. He was sure that his own altercation would come soon enough with Owen.

When Tinashé decided that her problem was less important than his and quickly apologized, he frowned slightly. She was... adorable, and he just wanted to wrap his arms around her and insist that her problem was completely valid. Being just down the hall from a room probably filled with their friends was enough to prevent him from doing so, though. "He was that bad?" He couldn't just skip to his own problem without acknowledging hers, especially since he was sure that it took a lot for Shay to actually snap on Owen. "I think he just wants you and Ari to be civil, but trust me, I know that's easier said than done. And you've always been the better sister, the easier one, and I guess he just thought that things would magically be okay this summer." There was a part of him that felt like he did need to defend Owen, or at least reason his behavior to Shay. She knew him just as well, and maybe better, than he did, but Carson knew that Owen was only a control freak because he thought it was benefiting everyone. He didn't blame Shay for being pissed at her brother for it. He was sure that he would be feeling the same way when he finally acknowledged how he couldn't keep his eyes off of her.

"But you can't go back to Dubai. I might not hate Ari as much as you do, but I don't want to spend this summer with all of them if you're not going to be here. Besides, I won't have anyone to make these amazing cupcakes for me. I thought you were making omelets." He was unaware of Aiden's involvement in the cupcakes but wouldn't have been surprised if Shay had cooked both meals. She was an amazing cook and just that good. "And the Lex thing isn't a big deal, I was overreacting too, I guess. I was thinking about what you said last night, with maybe her not realizing that I didn't like her like that, so I thought I should talk to her. And I did a little while ago, but the second after I told her that I'll never like her like that, she kissed me." He was the one rambling now, but he did his best to downplay it. He really just wanted the whole Alexandra issue to go away, even if he was frazzled by what had went down minutes before. Not only was he horrified by what he had done that night, but he also didn't want it to live on long enough for Owen to find out, or for it to turn Shay off. Even if he was convinced that she saw his side by now, Alexandra was her little sister. It had to be at least a little bit weird for her. "Should we both just go eat omelets and pretend like none of this morning drama ever happened?" Maybe it was wishful thinking.

When Alexa and Tinashé both disappeared early on in the night, Christopher decided that there was no point in staying at the party either. His solution was more dramatic than just going up to bed like the girls did, but in his defense, he did wait for his parents to leave before catching a ride with friends to the night club, Lure. His night was a usual night of drinking, dancing, and smoking, before he crashed at some model's mansion in Calabasas. The hangover that he woke up with at nine the next morning was enough of a sign that he had a good night. If his phone hadn't been going off with texts from his sisters and mother, he probably would have slept another five hours, but once he was up, it was impossible for him to return to sleep on the couch. His sisters, specifically Ariana, were probably already annoyed with him and though he wasn't feeling well physically, he was ready to get back to the house. He had skipped out on the first night but couldn't do that for the first real day together too.

To: Shay
What's good for today?

To: Ariana
CHILL omw back now. R u mom now?

To: Alexandra
U shouldve come out w me last night. Lure was lit

To: Colette
Should I wear my favorite shirt again today?

The easiest way to get home was a cab. It would have been too much explaining and just as long of a wait if he had called his family's driver, or one of the ones that the Collins' used. Plus, unlike many of the others, Christopher wasn't "famous" enough to be given enough attention for merely using public transportation. He had a trust fund worth more than most adults' life savings, but that alone wasn't important enough to make people recognize him unless he was standing beside his sisters or parents, or behind a DJ booth. He didn't mind it, really. Life was easier when he could blend in with the average crowd and still reap the benefits of being extraordinary.

He got home and managed to sneak upstairs, shower and get dressed by the time that the guys left for the beach. The night time brought out Christopher's wild side, but for the most part, he was a pretty laid back guy. That's why, even though he wasn't particularly close with any of the other guys, he had a good time at the beach. He was able to catch up on his sleep, get some sun and spend some time surfing with Carson. It was a good day and after Chris heard of the plans for that evening, he was sure it was going to be a good night too.

"So, Shay said we're hitting up Greystone Manor tonight," he conversed with Carson, whose car he had opted to drive in on the way home after the beach day. "The last time I was there I can't even tell you how many hot chicks came onto me, man. Models and actresses, too. I guarantee we take home at least one girl a piece tonight," he grinned. Out of all of the guys, Chris preferred Carson. He was the only one who really knew how to have fun.

To: Shay
We better put Europe to shame tn. Were almost home. U girls back yet?

Carson did end up stopping in the kitchen before leaving. Speaking with Tinashé reminded him of how important it was to set aside his issues with Alexandra to get through the summer. Even before Shay's tour, he had been in at school in New York and spending time with his father in Texas, and their schedules rarely matched up. This summer was going to be the first time that he would actually get to hang out with her in depth in at least a few years, and for all he knew, it could be just as long until they did it again. Her career was taking off faster than anyone could keep up with and he was sure that after relaxing all summer, his father would be on his back about joining the family business. All it took was one tumultuous night with her for him to know that she wasn't the same little girl he grew up with. He couldn't imagine what two more months with her would entail, but he was excited.

He got through the uncomfortable, silent tension between he and Alexandra in the kitchen, and had a pretty positive day at the beach with Owen, Aiden and Oliver. It would have been a perfect day, had Owen not brought up his sister. He should have been happy that the topic of conversation was Tinashé and not Alexandra, but when Owen claimed that Ariana thought she had seen him and Shay making out the night before in the theater, he was completely caught off guard. He was quick to deny it, since technically, it wasn't true. He hadn't kissed Shay, even if he was very close to doing so, but it still left him shaken. Ariana was the absolute last person that he needed knowing about him and Shay. She didn't really have any reason to ruin his relationship with Owen, but even Carson, who liked Ari, knew that this would be the perfect chance to slander Shay's name to Owen.

Carson thought he did a good job at shooting the possibility of it happening down to Owen, so he didn't text Shay right away. After her earlier incident with Owen, he doubted that she needed any extra stress with her brother, especially not if she was already with Ariana. The last thing they needed was a cat fight breaking out at some upscale spa with paparazzi sure to be circling close by. Even if his answer got Owen off his back, Carson couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the day, even as he pulled away with only Christopher in the car with him. He was so caught up in his own thoughts that he barely noticed when Chris started talking to him. "What? Oh, tonight? Yeah, she did say Greystone Manor, I think." He laughed when Chris brought up girls, but he knew that he was right. However, he had no intentions of bringing home any girls tonight that didn't already live with them. "You've already got Lex, don't you?" Maybe he could get Alexa off his back by putting Chris on her. Plus, he genuinely did think that Christopher had something going on with Alexandra.

When they finally got down the long driveway and Carson left his car in front of the garage, he texted Shay, hoping that she was already home or close to it.

To: Shay
So... Ariana saw us last night in the theater and told Owen that we were making out... maybe she is as evil as you act

After reluctantly parting way with Carson and the boys, Tinashé did her best to make the most of her day. She had decided to drive instead of taking a limousine, needing something to occupy the space in her mind since being in the back with Ariana would warrant more tension than there needed to be. In fact, if they were being completely honest, Ariana did not exist in Shay's world. Sure, Alexa having an attitude with her definitely was noticeable and Ariana hovering over her baby sister like a too-old stalker definitely had her watching them, but after awhile, Shay could hardly find it in her to give two fucks. If Alexa wanted to ignore her, then so be it. Shay had not done a thing to her. She promised not to let anything get back to Owen. She had tried to speak with her sister and actually see Alexandra's feelings in all of this. She was shot down and has been ignored. There was no point in trying to appease to a woman - because Alexandra was an adult now and needed to start acting like one instead of being the overgrown child her mother was known for being - who was obviously going to be petty. Tinashé would just be there waiting until Alexandra decided that she actually wanted to get whatever she needed to get off of her chest.

So, she concentrated on the amazing body scrub and massage she had gotten, and the manicure and pedicure. Feeling refreshed, she had no qualm against Colette picking things out for her at the stores they stopped at, particularly in pursuit of an outfit the night. She didn't know what she was going to wear yet, so it was enough of a distraction on the drive home so that she wouldn't attempt to include her sister in conversation. She did, though, feel bad for Jamie. They stopped at two bookstores and an art show that happened to be going on, but she knew Jamie didn't feel particularly comfortable with all of them. They could get along, sure, but it was obvious that Jamie was not much of a fan of either of the Rockefeller twins. And Shay knew all about her sister's beef with Jamie. When they got to a traffic light about five minutes from the estate, Shay glanced down at her phone in the cup-holder and picked it up, sifting through the text messages. Nick Jonas was going to be at Greystone tonight...Lucas wanted her to perform one song tonight (as if!)...Chris was actually back from god knows where he had been...Ariana told Owen she and Carson made out...

Wait, what?

"Son of a..." Shay didn't even finish, the words caught on a mumble to herself as she gripped her device in her hands. Quickly, she typed out a few responses.

To: Chris
Still mad u partied & didn't warn no one.

To: Carson
Really? I'll talk 2 her

Oh, see now I've got something for that ass, she thought as the light turned green, allowing her to continue her trek back home. See, this was what she what she had been worried about. Ariana was irrelevant in her home. Ariana was irrelevant in her life. All the irrelevant girl had to do was deal with the rest of the summer. Shay wasn't doing another girl day again, that was for sure. She had not really intended on Ariana being present for it and the only reason she was was because Owen was a controlling jerk. However, despite whatever Owen wanted to argue, Ariana was still the same conniving bitch she had been when they were in school. And Owen, really? Was that really why he had been concerned about where she went last night? Because Ariana had put in his head that she had been doing anything less than resisting doing exactly what she implied? Shay wouldn't have stopped Carson if he kissed her and truthfully, some part of her had been willing to initiate it last night. However, the idea of him with Lex at the time made her timid and so she settled for cuddling. It had been innocent and she felt like Owen needed to know that - even though he really didn't need to know that - soon. As they pulled into their long driveway, Shay's grip on the wheel tightened just a bit as she fought to urge to glare at Ariana through the rear view mirror. She definitely needed to talk to her brother, but first thing's first...

She and Ariana needed to have a little chit chat.

One of the valets met her at the end of the path and Shay stopped the vehicle, smiling at a few of the staff members who came out to get the girls' shopping bags. Her eyes landed one person specifically, Nkruma. She was a nice woman and was one of the only servants outside who spoke Shona. "I bhudhi vangu kumba?" She asked, wondering if Owen was back in the house. She figured the others would be, but she needed to make sure. Nkruma made a face, tilting her head curiously since Shay didn't speak Shona unless she really was trying to keep something from other people or her mom was using it against her. "Ehe, a adzoka imwe nguva kare ne imwe madhara. A ati ino iwe uri kuenda rese kunze husikuhuno." Shay hummed at the answer, noting that the other girls were getting out of the car and beginning to head into the house. Ariana was still with Alexandra, but that was going to change real soon. Shay needed her alone, even if it meant snapping at Lex. She returned her gaze to Nrkuma while saying, "Naka. Kwanisa iwe udza iye ku sangana ini pedo motsi e kugara marumu? Pedo imwe hozi dzangu? A ne Ndino da ku reketa." She had told the woman to tell Owen that Shay wanted to talk with him, that he needed to meet her near one of the sitting rooms near her bedroom. Once the message was received, Nkruma was gone and Shay's objective was Ariana. Without a hint of hesitation, she walked over to the brunette before she could get close to the house, standing directly in front of Ariana. She smiled frostily as she said, "Hey, before you and I go back to pretending for Owen's sake, we're going to have a little chit chat. Outside." She wasn't leaving room for Ariana to get out of this. She was either going to have this talk or Shay was going to make her. That was the only choice she was going to have in this situation.

Ariana's smug expression didn't falter as Tinashé stepped towards her and went off on her tirade. It was important that she keep the smile pasted on her face for two reasons: she needed Shay to know that she was a complete joke and would never be taking seriously, and also because if she had allowed her expression to shift, it most definitely would have changed to a baffled and highly offended one. Ariana was offended. This girl, this waste of space, pathetic excuse for a "singer" girl, had no idea who she was messing with. Maybe Ariana had underestimated Shay as being the same child she stepped on for fun, but Shay was underestimating her as well. Her attitude and self-proclaimed importance might not have strayed very far from that of her twelve-year-old self, but if Tinashé really thought that she was going to scare her with this new gangster persona, she was mistaken. Ariana wasn't one for physical fighting because she was a Rockefeller. As a Rockefeller, she had an image to uphold and stooping down to the trashy, insignificant level of some wannabe star, whose last name held no importance in any real textbook was not worth it. She wasn't going to disappoint her parents any more than Colette and Christopher had already done, by punching Tinashé square in the face because she simply wasn't worth it. Here, Ariana's pride probably helped her, since there was a very minute chance that she would end up on the winning side of a fight with Shay anyway.

Despite her steady expression and unwillingness to step back even as Shay got up in her face, Ariana was caught off guard by the threatening and aggressive tone that laced Shay's voice. If it had been anyone else, she would have immediately been on the phone with her family lawyer, demanding that he get her an order of protection against the person. She would insure that their name was slandered in whatever line of work they came from, and ruin their life in a way far worse than some petty rumor could. She couldn't go that far this time, because despite finding Tinashé to be absolutely abhorrent, her family was too close to the Collins. It would be far too messy, and Ariana preferred to settle the dispute in a way that wouldn't burden her parents. So, she kept her lips sealed, allowing Tinashé to look like the complete psycho she was as she ended her rant with a haunted house level clown grin.

She watched Tinashé's small form until it was invisible behind the house's walls, and then she finally moved her feet. She didn't move far, though. Only back towards the car, where a few of the house staff were still working on unloading shopping bags. "Bring me my car," she ordered, pulling a set of car keys from her bag and tossing it to one of the young men. She had done well at keeping herself composed in the devil's presence, but that wasn't going to last for much longer. She needed to get out of there. Not for good, no, she couldn't let Shay think she had won like that, but just for now. She needed air and she was sure that even if she retreated back to her room, Owen was going to be all over her about what had just happened.

As she waited for her car to be pulled up, which didn't take long due, she decided to let a little bit of her anger out in a few texts. With Owen, she needed to get a point across. He was going to choose her, or he was going to choose his classless sister. Her pride would take a hit if she chose Shay, but she would get over it. She would move on and do better than him, maybe even sleep with Carson for revenge, but he would never do better than her.

To: Owen
I'm sorry Owen, but I don't think that I can deal with your ghetto sister all summer. I've really tried to make an effort to get Alexandra back on the right track and if you think she's disrespectful, I don't even know what to tell you about your other one. I don't even know what to think about my relationship with you now, nonetheless having to spend the rest of the summer with a girl who literally threatened to kill me. I need some space, but maybe I'll meet up with you later tonight :/.

To: Christopher
I don't want you hanging around with Tinashé, Chris. She's bad news.

To: Alexandra
Did your sister forget to fill her Valium prescription lol?
