History:
When you think Rockefeller, you think money and elitism. What Chris thinks, is expectations. Being a Rockefeller comes with its perks. He has access to opportunities that most people can only dream of and struggling to pay bills or afford an education will never be something he's familiar with. Like the generations before him, the Rockefeller wealth will allow him to live comfortably without having to work a day in his life. However, it's not like his parents are okay with him doing that. Even though he has the ability to kick back and relax, his parents wouldn't stand for the money they poured into his top-of-the-line education to go to waste. They want him to do something with his life, to be someone important and make them proud and his goal of becoming a major DJ just doesn't fit into their idea of a real profession.

You see, Chris was never the cookie-cutter child that his parents wanted him to be. Colette had it a lot worse than him since she was so easily compared to the perfect child, Ariana, but being the only son, Chris felt mounting pressure to be the best as well. His father pushed him into every sport imaginable and drilled the idea of grades being the most important indicator of worth into his mind. He was an average student but never more than that, and for parents who wanted their son to be a valedictorian, he just wasn't good enough. After years of trying and failing to reach his parents' expectations, he gave up. He had found a passion in music, specifically EDM, and replaced his parents' unattainable goals with focusing on his own likes.

The "bad boy" persona was never what Chris intended to be known for, but it just kind of happened. When he was a junior in high school, he started experimenting with drugs. It started with alcohol and marijuana which wasn't remotely unusual for someone his age, but as he started to attend music festivals and raves, he stepped it up to ecstasy and cocaine. Chris would never consider himself addicted to either drug because he only uses them recreationally and doesn't experience withdrawals or needs for fixes, but he does sometimes regret going down this path. He's nearly the opposite of what his parents wanted for him and although the couple has preferred to pretend the problem doesn't exist, he knows he's letting them down. In hopes of at least scoring a few points in their book, he does want to go to college eventually. He's just not sure if he'll ever be able to focus on school when he's having so much fun with the freedom of having no responsibilities or worries.

Normally, Alexa would have been overjoyed at Shay bringing her out to a club. Her sister was cool (regardless of her refusal to admit it), and that was apparent by how easily they got into Greystone. Lex had been to Greystone many times before, the most notorious incident being with her mother. She never struggled to get in, but she was always with friends who had big names too, and that probably helped. Bouncers knew Chris at nearly every club, and despite being underage, she always got in when she was with him, but it was like everyone at Greystone knew Shay. She was greeted by nearly everyone they passed, in one way or another, and it made Lex's eyes roll. She was in the mood to be petty but she hated allowing herself to be so petty that she was even jealous of attention that strangers were giving Shay.

She needed a drink, and she needed one fast. Her patience was winding away, and alcohol would be the only fix for that, since it was apparent that Shay had no respect for her relationship with Carson. This "relationship" with Carson may have been non-existent or worse in his mind, but getting more and more annoyed with her sister as each minute passed, she wanted to blame that on her too. Alexandra's shot didn't sit on the bar top for more than a second before it was in her hand and being tossed down her throat. Even after the shots earlier in the evening, the sting of the vodka still clawed at her throat and she felt like spitting it back into the glass before eventually swallowing it. She felt pathetic for it, but she still could barely do straight alcohol shots. She needed to force herself to do them tonight, since she didn't have time to sip down a mixed drink and wait for those effects to take place, but it wasn't going to be enjoyable. "One more," she tapped her fingers on the bar as she smiled at the bartender to pour her another shot. It came quickly but Alexandra wasn't ready to take another one yet, and instead, swirled the liquid gently in the glass. "What does your sister drink?" she turned to Chris. Getting smashed seemed to be one of Colette's skills and Alexandra needed to learn how to do that quickly and painlessly tonight.

There was no time for Christopher to answer her, because suddenly everyone's attention shifted to the pair that had just approached them. Or interrupted them, as it more appropriately seemed. Alexandra had been the one to beg Ariana to show up, so maybe this was her fault, but she wasn't going to send out any more texts to her after that last one. Now that they were at the club, where alcohol was being served left and right, she was going to use that to help her have a good time and she didn't need Ari. She especially didn't need her if she was going to bring Owen along, which was obviously the case. Her second shot went down far too easily compared to the first, as she tossed it back intuitively at the sight of the couple. Owen and Carson had already started conversing about dinner when she caught the condemning look that Ariana was giving her. She didn't care though, honestly. If Ariana thought she was going to spend the rest of the night sober, she was dumber than she looked.

When Ariana asked her to come to the bathroom with her, Alexandra decided to oblige. Owen would have given her a hard time if she said no, and she didn't want to stand around with Chris and Shay either, just in case they remembered how much fun they had in Europe again. She didn't leave without giving Shay a sharp elbow to the side as she passed, knowing well that it was childish and mean. Holding hands and talking with Carson wasn't really enough to constitute her hating her like this. She was still unaware of her sister sleeping with him the night before, even if both bodies remained clothed, or their cozy night in the theater. If this was how she was acting now, with her mind not fully clouded with alcohol too, the rest of the summer probably wasn't going to go well.

She had linked arms with Ariana to navigate through the more crowded parts of the club. Lex wasn't sure if she really needed direction to the restroom, or if she was just trying to get her alone to lecture her about drinking, but she waited to see. They were in the VIP section and it was still early enough that the bathroom was scarcely populated. "Why are you here?" she questioned, leaning against the counters by the sink.

Tinashé had just ordered another two shots for herself when the air around them seemed to still and she turned around to see Owen and Ariana sliding through the throng of writhing bodies and excited party-goers. Unlike Carson, her surprise was not evident nor was her displeasure. In fact, if Owen were really trying to look into anything, all he would see is simple nonchalance. She couldn't even feel herself throwing a fit inside at her brother's audacity to actually bring the girl he said he would keep away form her. No...her eyebrows simply rose in interest as she stared at her brother, not even giving Ariana a glance. Shrugging to the look Carson gave, Shay turned back to the bar and downed her shots one after the other, one bite of alcohol less grating than the other. She was a bit disappointed than Carson ran away with Owen, but couldn't feel nothing but relief - which she immediately felt guilty over afterwards - when Alexandra left with Ariana. It made her feel some type of way, that her baby sister would go off with someone else just because she was pissed with Shay. At the same time, she wasn't going to react. Bitch can't kill my vibe, she promised herself before turning back to Chris, grinning lasciviously.

"You already know what time it is," she purred to her friend, pulling Chris with her through the people. On second thought, she grabbed a hold of Oliver too. The guy couldn't just be left alone with not even his friend, Jamie, by his side and Shay was interested in seeing how Oliver got down. Maybe they could find him someone to play with for the night? She led the boys into the crowd easily, with her diminutive yet petite body being able to fit through crevices and shove past anyone who acted like they were made of brick. Soon, they were dancing to some dub-step remix of a song she would have remembered if the lyrics could be heard. Overhead, the colorful lights danced across skin slick with sweat and Shay allowed herself to move freely, not all caring about Ariana being near or Owen really having had gone after Ariana. It didn't surprise her, especially after she had told him that he could go get his girl if that was what he wanted, and she refused to let the hurt wash over her. Instead, she lost herself into the music, laughing at Christopher who seemed to have already been pulled in by some blonde. She started dancing with Oliver too, just to get him to let loose, smiling all the while and laughing occasionally at his expressions.

In the midst of dancing and hanging out with her two guy friends, Shay didn't realize when a familiar face popped up behind her until hands fell on either side of her waist. Tensing and almost ready to turn around with a chop, a voice reached her ears, playful and excited, "Look who's back on the West Coast!" Relaxing, Tinashé turned around to see her fellow artist and friend, Jasmine Villegas. The pop singer, currently twenty years old, had begun their relationship by tweeting lyrics of Shay's and then it became their thing. Before either knew it, they were frequenting the same places and hanging with the same party crew. They weren't best friends, but Shay loved a good dance with Jasmine, especially once her and a few of Shay's backup dancers started posting choreography online just for the hell of it.

"Bitch!" She exclaimed and turned around to embrace the blonde. Despite being a natural brunette like Tinashé, Jasmine had dyed her hair blonde as well and only returned to her natural color for a music video back in January only for everyone to find out that she had simply had a sew-in weave because she couldn't part with the blonde any time soon. It was still a good look and Shay's smile was bright when seeing the singer. "Some people weren't even gonna tell anyone she was back though!" Jasmine yelled over the music, still pulling Shay close so that they could hear one another. Rolling her eyes, she responded, "Drama queen." Jasmine grinned. "Dance with us on stage." It wasn't far off for any performer in Greystone to actually sing or dance, or even rap and Shay had performed here plenty of times. Granted, she had told Ronnie that she wasn't dancing for the night, even when he had Nick text her to change her mind. However, that was also when she had not been in a good mood and damn it, Shay was ready to let loose, even on stage. "You gotta perform tonight," she told the blonde and Jasmine only smiled wickedly. "You too." Sharing her friend's grin, Shay turned back to the boys and yelled, "Be back." Chris looked...Chris looked like he was good and Shay had no doubt Oliver would have fun before the night was over.

They were backstage for only three minutes, only needing the first minute to convince the host for the night, Chad, to let them on. While someone else moved to let the DJ know what songs they needed to be playing and for someone else to start setting up mics for the girls to sing separately later on, Shay removed her jacket and necklace, giving them to a familiar face. She couldn't remember the person's name, but all she had to do was bat her lashes with a promise of a dance later to know that her things would be taken care of. While they were getting ready, she heard Chad go on stage and cut the music down, getting the crowd hyped up. [b]"Now, you know it's really rare to have more than one mainstream artist on the stage in here. So, ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for Jasmine V and your girl Tinashé."[/color] The loud cheer was defening and Shay couldn't help but feel exhilarated by it. She always had a rush when performing, especially when she knew she was about to dance. Singing and performing were things she enjoyed, but dancing...dancing was her first love.

The first dance by Jasmine and Shay was to a Beyoncé song, a choreography they had made up just for the hell of it. She almost didn't hear the audience under the heavy music and the sensual notes of the lyrics, but when someone shouted her name, she couldn't help but get lost in performing. She didn't care what Ariana had to say or if she judged her. She could care less about Owen's opinion on having people watch his little sister dance and how he really wished she would censor herself more often. She didn't even care about the mental daggers Alexandra was probably throwing her way. All she cared about was the way her body moved and the way each snap seemed to send a current through her veins...and maybe...just maybe...if Carson was watching her.

It didn't take very long at all for Chris to spot a potential girl for the night... and another one... and another one. He didn't feel bad separating from the group because as soon as his sister showed up, everyone else dispersed as well. Alexandra ran off with her to find the bathrooms, Carson and Owen stepped away to the other side of the bar, and Shay had a similar destination as he in mind because before he could hit the dance floor, she was pulling him there herself. Just when he thought the girls he found at the bar were the hottest ones in the club, his eyes met those of a blonde that he knew all too well. Hailey Baldwin. She was the daughter of actor Stephen Baldwin and in the process of making a name for herself through modelling. Christopher had met her a year or so ago through Alexandra, and had his eyes on her ever since. She was smoking and feisty personality-wise, which made her even more attractive. The fact that she was now eighteen was only icing on the cake, and he knew he was getting laid as soon as her eyes lit up upon spotting him.

They didn't have to say a word for the energy between them to be obvious. She pressed herself close to him and allowed his hands mapped out every curve of her body as they danced. He didn't even notice that Tinashé had left the dance floor until the music quieted and the DJ announced that his friend and Jasmine Villegas were performing. It took his attention away from Hailey for a second as he turned towards the stage and considered yelling something obnoxious out to Shay. The roaring crowd and Beyoncé song would have just drowned it out, though, and he knew only a few seconds into their dance, that if he kept watching, he was going to have second thoughts about the girl he chose to sleep with tonight. "Let's go get drinks," he whispered to the blonde once he managed to pull his eyes off of Shay. She tucked her hand into his and since many of the club patrons had flocked to the dancefloor to watch the unexpected performance, it didn't take long for them to reach the bar. "I'll have a Sex on the Beach," Hailey ordered, though her eyes remained on Chris even as she spoke to the bartender. "Just a Bud Light for me," he followed up, reciprocating Hailey's flirty grin for a moment before he became distracted. On the other side of the bar now not only stood Carson and Owen, but Alexandra too. And was her hand riding up and down Carson's chest like Hailey was doing right now to him? What the fuck?!

Unfortunately Owen was far too trusting of his best friend and sister to think that there was anything more to Alexandra's uncalled for flirting than the drink in her hand. He knew that he shouldn't have let her come here underage. It was one thing when she snuck off to drink underage herself, but if he was here condoning it, he was going to have to take the blame for the things she did. Owen was sure that if she was getting touchy feely with Carson, someone who he thought was like a brother to her, than she was already five or six drinks in. He couldn't even blame Shay for still being a bad influence on Lex because she was eighteen now and they both knew that even if Shay told her to stop, she wasn't going to do it. She was an unruly brat and even as Owen tried to keep his mouth closed as she wrapped her lips around the straw and nearly inhaled the mixed drink, he couldn't. He shot Carson an apologetic glance, hoping he would realize that she was just being drunk and stupid like always. He did want to thank him for taking care of Alexandra that night too, since Pierce had informed him of how gracious Carson was with letting her spend the night and driving her home the next morning, but they didn't even have a chance to catch up themselves yet.

After he and Carson had distanced themselves from the rest of the group earlier, Owen had only confirmed that yes, his afternoon was enough to fulfill the fantasies of every guy they grew up with. He had explained how Ariana felt like she was putting in effort and Shay wasn't trying, and that as a compromise, he had agreed to spend the summer with her in Huntington Beach. In the confidentiality of his best friend, Owen had confirmed that no, he didn't really plan on that happening and hoped he could convince Ariana to move back in, but for tonight, it was best to keep the girls as far apart as possible. Then, Shay had gotten on stage and their attention drifted to that, and now Alexandra was going to cause a commotion.

His first response to her was the pull the glass out of her hand and calmly set it beside him on the bar top. He was doing his best to keep his patience in check. His night had went well so far and he really didn't want Alexandra and her selfish, "the world revolves around me" attitude, to bring that down. Next, he latched onto her wrist, pulling her hand off of Carson and dragging her a few feet away. "Give me a minute to deal with... this?" he said, looking back at Carson before they were too far away. When they were alone, or as alone as they could be in a popular night club, he gave her a pointed look. He could smell the alcohol on her, but that didn't mean much since they were at a club. Her eyes looked glassy, but he had seen them far worse. He didn't even think to consider that she was acting that way out of anything other than the alcohol's influence, though. "Are you out of your mind, Alexa? It's like we give you an inch and you take a mile! I wouldn't have said anything to you if you knew how to drink in moderation and act like a normal person. But, you know, I try to be the good cop for once and you're an hour into the night and already at a point where you're feeling Carson up?! Carson, of all people! A guy who's like a brother to all of us! Can you just stop being a brat for one second and think about how crazy you're acting?" Overprotective older brother mode had been activated by this point, but it wasn't even just overprotective. It was him being tired of the same shit with her, sick of her being so reckless, and embarrassed for their family that she had the nerve to act like this with him around. He could only imagine what she was like without him standing right there!

"If I knew you were going to be putting on a show for Carson, you could have just set up the club back at your place," Colette admonished as soon as Tinashé emerged from the stage in order to allow that other performer to put on a little show. To be completely honest, as she peered down at the nails she had just gotten taken care of today, Colette was not a fan of Shay's other friend. Was she jealous of her best friend's other friendship? Of course not. It was simply that while Jasmine could be fun, she was not worth Shay's attention. The girl appeared only when it seemed convenient for her - when it would benefit her. And Colette was all for benefitting herself as well, but she didn't hide behind false intentions often. Jasmine did..

Tinashé blinked in surprise to see Colette standing backstage in a tight blue dress and nude heels. She had thought Colette had run off to New York already without her. Before the smile could fully reach her face, Shay did snark back, "Shut up, Bitchlette." It wasn't witty enough as Colette's right eyebrow twitched upward with a knowing smirk. "What? I am merely suggesting that you can take this show on the road. You all still have that stripper pole, right?" Not even offering her friend another word, Shay simply hugged the designer, pinching her bare arm lightly only to feel Colette doing the same to her. Grinning, the girls pulled away and Shay made a face. "Surprised you haven't talked to your sister yet." Again, Colette's eyebrow quirked upward once more as she leaned against table, holding onto both Shay's jacket and necklace. "If she thinks she's going to dictate who I allow to monopolize my time, she has another thing coming." Humming to herself thoughtfully, Colette eyed Shay before continuing, "Besides, that's not exactly the most important thing here. I was busy with business related things earlier, but you still needed me. What's going on on the Carson and Alexandra front? Which, by the way, borders on the eeeeeewww."

Shay sighed, not really paying attention to the sound of the crowd as the cheered Jasmine on. She honestly did not know what to think of Alexandra and Carson anymore. On one hand, Carson had made it clear to her that he didn't feel anything in regards to Alexandra. That whatever had happened that night had been a mistake he has wanted to forget. But then Alexandra obviously had a thing for him. She freaking kissed him this morning! So, what if Shay was being unfair? What if she really was being the bad sister that Lex hated? Colette stared Shay down as the singer seemed to lose herself in her thoughts and to get her attention, Colette let out a loud sigh. "Spit out all of that evil because a you that's thinking too hard says a lot more than the you that actually says something," she said and Shay cast her a weary look. "It's complicated." Obviously, that answer was not enough for the look on Colette's face had heat rising to Tinashé's cheeks. "Bitchlette." Was her grumble followed by Colette's, "Harlot. Speak already."

Finally, after a lingering pause filled with the two girls staring one another down, Shay spoke up again. "I think Lex really has feelings for Carson." Colette blinked before rubbing the bridge of her nose. It was already complicated with Shay having had feelings for him - and her best friend could argue against this all she wanted, Colette knew the truth - and those two having had slept together. But actual feelings? This was why Colette stuck with her one-night-stands. Feelings complicated things, especially when sisters were involved. Which we are not going to talk about, she resolved in her head. Especially not in their current location. This kind of talk was meant for those times when the girls were in their sleepwear and Colette was allowing Tinashé the chance to gorge herself on ice cream. For the moment, however, they needed to let this go. "Then the real question is...what are you going to do about it?" She knew Shay would not have an answer, so she continued so that she could leave Shay to her thoughts, "And while you're thinking about that, I need a drink because something tells me this summer is going to be more stressful than either of us need. I'll bring you something back."

Taking Shay's things with her, Colette pushed her way through the boisterous crowd in search of the bar. While being more familiar with the Upper East Side and their countless bars and clubs, it was not extremely hard to find one's way to the bar. Especially when she saw Carson's towering form nearby. She had seen Ariana and Owen arrive earlier and had waited until the sickening lovebirds were already inside before approaching Greystone. Not bothering to look for her sister and only sending Chris a small smirk, Colette approached Carson, leaning against the bar beside him and unaware of what had transpired moments earlier. Instead of fully acknowledging him, she cast a commanding look to the bartender who immediately gave her his attention. "One Mai Tai and one Blue Hawaii, thanks." With her order being worked on, Colette returned her gaze to Carson. "So, I'm going to assume that you know very well that you and I need to talk, right?"

It had definitely been the wrong thing to say. On every level in the world, admitting that she had known about Alexandra and Carson when Owen looked close enough to murder was definitely the last thing that should have escaped her mouth. Yet and still, it had and even her brave front was not enough of a defense for the tirade Owen practically leapt in only seconds after the words had left her mouth. Shay was impulsive, yes. That much was clear. But even she had to curse her own impulsivity and need to say anything because the look on Owen's face spoke more than the words that followed. And it was only after she had flinched away from him did they actually sink in.

And oh, they sunk in! Combined with his outrage towards for her having known about what went down between his best friend and their little sister was a disappointment and...was that disgust? Aimed at her? Tinashé swallowed back a large lump of unwanted emotion when Owen chuckled. She did not like that sound. She did not like him being as disappointed in her as he seemed. She didn't like the way she could feel her body almost shaking. This was worse than when she had snapped at him earlier and cried. This was worse when he had blown up on her for even throwing the party he had referenced. This was worse than any moment she could recall Owen being upset with her because she had never felt so much disgust from her big brother. Suddenly, Shay wasn't the big, tough bad girl who had a penchant for singing. She wasn't the tough girl who shot back whatever anyone else tossed at her. No, she was that same teenager who thought someone she had come to see as family hated her and it was hitting her that this time, Owen wouldn't turn back around to convince her otherwise. She hadn't even realized that the tears had glassed over her eyes until a lone droplet fell onto her cheek and Shay quickly swiped it away, still visibly shaking.

Get knocked up? Really? Was that what this looked like? That she was just as much of a slut as a few of the gossip-spreading blogs and holier-than-thou critics said? It reminded her of when Lacey from Buckley had said that the only good her music career would bring her was two kids, a deadbeat dad, and a welfare check. It reminded her that she had taken a lot of criticism and sardonic humor before. Had shoved it to the recesses of her mind or shrugged it off because no one could affect her. She had hardened herself too much to be broken down by a few words of criticism. But this wasn't from some overweight asshole who still kept their Star Wars poster in their room and lived in their parents' basement because they were too pathetic to do anything more than gossip about the people who had the lives they wanted. No, this had been said by Owen and on a good day, she would have slapped him or told him off. But he was gone and she was left, frozen with the icy heat of his stare and the bitter droplets of words she never thought he would say.

"...are you okay?" She said, blinking back the tears she did not want to shed before she turned to Carson again. Looking at him, all she could feel was guilt. She should have pushed him away. She should have done what Owen had asked her to do. She should have pretended. She should have pretended that she could tolerate Ariana. She should have pretended like this was going to be the best summer of their lives. She should have continued pretending that she didn't feel a thing for Carson and shoved whatever it was as deep inside of her core as she could. Because now she had ruined everything and Owen hated her. Despondently, she grabbed her jacket and phone from Carson, not even acknowledging the drink or even the eye contact he was probably trying to make. "We should...um...get out of here. I should...call a cab." Making that decision and refusing to touch him again for a random wave of paranoia that Owen might actually run back to them just because he could sense them touching, she refrained from getting anywhere near Carson and heading back out into the club. She was walking blindly and she wasn't reaching for her phone at all. She wasn't dialing a number. All she was doing was shoving past people and before she knew it, she was standing in front of Chris and some blonde, and suddenly, there were tears falling and she didn't care who saw them. She didn't care that Chris was about to get laid or that the others had left him in their haste. Go run off to Vegas and get knocked up. All she could hear was Owen's voice in her head - hard, angry and disgusted - and the tears ran faster. "I fucked up. I fucked up really bad and he hates me." She didn't clarify who hated her, she just needed one of her best friends.

Colette couldn't even fight the impulse to roll her eyes the second she heard the judgmental tone in her twin's voice. Was there a name for killing one's sibling? One's twin? Twinicide, or something like that? There had to be because she did not know if she could deal with an eternity of Ariana breathing down her neck over every little thing she did and did not do. It still bothered her, probably just as much as it bothered Chris, that Ariana decided to take it upon herself to be the perfect one and then have the audacity to judge the two of them for what they did. What could they do? They wanted something, Ariana went for it. They worked for it, she worked harder. There was no end and the fact that Ariana sought to criticize Colette's line of work - the only good thing she had that her twin had not tarnished or snatched away - had her drinking her Blue Hawaii until she heard the loud, hard sound of her sucking air through the straw. She had just been about to order a shot of really anything when suddenly, Owen was there and Alexandra was being shoved towards them. Her eyes immediately went to Owen's and she followed his line of direction keenly, noting that he was headed in Shay's direction. "Oh shit..." Colette mumbled under her breath and was ready to grab her purse and leave. However, Ariana suddenly had a tight grip on her wrist and seemed unwilling to release her.

Colette would have shouted some exclamation at her sister had she not caught the actual - wait, was Ariana actually worried? The Ice Queen - practically Elsa's twin sister - was worried? It was enough to render Colette speechless and immobile, allowing for Ariana to pull both her and Alexandra to the door like Owen had requested. Still in a flurry of confusion and concern because she realized where Owen was going, Colette pulled out her phone. She had hoped there would be a message from Shay. She would never imagine Alexandra actually telling on herself to Owen and Colette bit her lip because she had just sent Carson back there to make moves on Shay and - god have mercy! This was not good. However, it wasn't a message from Shay that made her hold her breath. One of her fellow models and the friend she brought with her to Shay's concert in Paris had forwarded her the post about Carson and Shay. A post that had been made ten minutes ago! "This is bad. This is really really bad," she said more to herself when they reached outside. Ariana was still trying to coax something out of Alexandra, but Colette's eyes were suddenly narrowing on her sister.

This had to be Ariana's doing! There was no way in hell Shay and Carson where an item yet. She had been watching them dance on that fine line for nearly a year! Probably longer, if she really wanted to stay and think about it. And now...oh God, and Owen was on his way back to them. She didn't know if Ariana had posted anything; no one knew the owner of the site. But still, like all bad things that happened to those around her, especially after Shay had pissed Ariana off, Colette concluded that it was her sister's fault. She didn't even acknowledge Owen at first when he came outside, glaring at Ariana even when her sister cast her another concerned stare. You are going to pay for this, was all she could think, as if Ariana could somehow read her thoughts. Ready to return to her friend and the club and whatever scene Owen had left behind him, Colette swiftly turned her gaze upon the brooding male, noting the harsh tick in his jaw and the fact that he wouldn't look at her. So, she let her eyes rove over him, not caring what Ariana thought she was doing. She wasn't checking Owen out. She just needed to find something - anything. And then her eyes landed on the knuckles of his right hand - swollen and purpling just a bit. She didn't need to ask what had happened.

"Oh my God, what did you do?" She asked, feeling more appalled and overwhelmed by the minute. There was no way in hell Owen could have hit Carson, right? His best friend in the entire world? Yet and still, Owen's current countenance and the swelling of his knuckles pointed her in that direction. Colette didn't wait for her sister to say anything or for Owen to say another word. She harshly snatched away from Ariana with a force she didn't even know she had, growling at Owen, "I'll find my own way back." She didn't know what had fully had happened, but she knew she needed to find Shay soon. Not sparing the trio another glance, Colette forced her back into the club in search of either Shay, Carson, or even both.

Christopher was distracted from the scene unfolding between Owen and Alexandra when a group stepped in front of his view. And well, that was enough of a reason for him to turn back to the beautiful blonde in front of him. He brushed Alexandra's intimate touch of Carson off as her being drunk, just as Owen had. He didn't think she had had that many drinks between dinner and the time they had been at the club, but she always had been a lightweight. Maybe straight liquor just wasn't her thing.

He spent the next couple of minutes finishing off two more beers and agreeing to take a tequila shot with Hailey. By the time he had agreed to go back to her apartment, the group in front of where Alexa and Owen had been had dispersed, but the sibling duo were no longer fighting there. Instead, after his eyes searched the area, he found that not only were those two gone, but both of his sisters were as well. Chris didn't think much of it. He was having a good time and genuinely hoped that the four of them were as well. It wasn't a very logical thought. Alexandra had appeared to be on the brink of tears, Owen was fuming, and Colette and Ariana together with drinks in hand never ended well, but his own buzz was enough to keep him positive. Plus, the way that Hailey's hand had now slipped up the front of his shirt was making the grin on his face all the more real.

"I'll go call my driver. Meet me out front?" she whispered into his ear. Her breath was warm on his neck and sent shivers down his spine. His nod was obviously an eager one and had it not been for Shay approaching in that moment, he would have followed Hailey out right then. When she left him with a kiss on the cheek, he was able to look towards Shay with more attention and his good vibes fell exponentially. She was crying. He had probably seen Shay cry before, but if anything, it would have been when they were both wasted and he would never remember why the tears had started falling in the first place. Like Alexandra, he didn't think that she was that drunk to be doing something that seemed so out of character to her normal, tough girl front. Plus, he had just seen her dancing without a stumble on stage. There was no way that this was some wasted, emotional response to someone bumping into her or making some petty comment. But who was this 'he' she was referring to hating her? To Chris, it could have been absolutely anyone. Owen, Carson, Oliver, Nick... maybe even some promoter or club employee she knew. He didn't have the slightest clue, but he instantly became the protective friend. He placed his empty beer bottle on the counter behind him and wrapped his arms around her. Hailey and his promise to meet her outside were forgotten for the moment as he pulled her against his chest. "Chill... chill, Shay. Just calm down for a second. What happened? Who hates you?"

Alexandra slept with Carson... Shay kissed Carson... and someone was going to Vegas to get knocked up. That was as much as Christopher really made out but it didn't make sense. Lex had slept with Carson?! When the hell did that happen? Shay kissing Carson caught him off guard but who didn't want to kiss Shay? That made more sense. She and Carson had been close for years and even though it surprised Chris, them getting together wasn't shocking. It didn't leave him stunned like the first comment, or confused like the last. "What...? You're going to Vegas?" He didn't even know which claim to start with, but that was the one that seemed to fit in with the story less than the other two. Colette came over before Shay could clarify, and even though he was curious about what Tinashé was crying about, he wasn't the best at comforting others when there were already a few drinks in his system. He rolled his eyes at Colette still being incapable of remembering Oliver's name. He wasn't very memorable and Christopher didn't like him very much either, but come on! They had known the kid for a couple years now, and at least Chris could match his face with a name. "How the hell am I supposed to find him?" Why was he expected to know where Oliver was? If Christopher had a guess, it would be in the tech closet configuring the strobe lights or something! Colette didn't give him any more of a chance to object before declaring that he needed to hurry because they were going to the car, and she pulled Shay off with her. He should be on his way to find the hot blonde waiting for him outside, not some geeky loser, but with a defeated sigh, he turned towards the center of the club.

To: Colette
idk where the fuck this kid is!

To: Colette
look i have a girl waiting for me outside

To: Colette
A hot girl CO

To: Colette
U and Shay go and I'll text him to take a cab home later

To: Colette
One of us has gotta have a good night

Chris returned to the bar after a half-assed two minute attempt to search for Oliver. He downed one more shot of tequila, spent a good two minutes trying to find Oliver's phone number buried in his phone, and then made his own way out of the club.

To: Oliver
Hey its Chris. Shit went down and everyone left. Just take a cab back to the house when ur done

Surprisingly, Hailey had stuck around for him by the club's entrance. She appeared to be two minutes away from leaving with another guy who Chris vaguely recognized at being a popular bartender at a neighboring club, but when she spotted him, she returned her attention to Chris. A victorious smile brightened his face as he slipped his arm around hers. "So, the car's here for us, but my sister just brought a bunch of people back to my place so we can't go back there," she whispered into his ear before they were overtaken with shouting paparazzi. All of the shouts were directed at her, luckily, and as soon as they stepped into the car, the attention seemed to be refocused on more famous people entering the car. "You're staying with Lex, right? Let's go back there, I know all the good spots in their house," she winked, her breath becoming warm on his neck again as she nestled against him in the back row. He still wasn't quite sure on what had happened between Shay, Owen, Carson and Alexandra, but could any amount of tension be enough to pass up a night with this girl? When Chris directed the driver to the Collins' estate, the answer clearly became no.

Colette was seriously close to rolling down the window and flipping off the paparazzi that surrounded that immobile car and on any given day, Shay would have sat back and laughed. Would have offered a smirk and an amused look followed by a quip because Colette surely would have hit her with one. However, given that she was going on this day, she did not have the energy so all she could do was let out a rather emotionless snicker. Shaking her head at Colette's frustrations, Shay set to peering out the window, looking past the photographers as if they were not even present. Unlike Colette, she didn't want to focus on the present situation - she just wanted to get away.

Colette, on the other hand, was positively seething. Not only did Christopher just blow their plight off to get fucked, but she had a feeling he didn't really try to look for Oliver. She didn't even care for the guy much, but still. It shouldn't have taken that long. Who the hell was going to whisk Dr. Who Jr. away in the first place? Definitely not some of the models and rich girls Colette had recognized in the club. It was harsh of her and if she had said it aloud, Colette had no doubt that Shay would have had words for her. But she didn't, so she was still technically in the clear. Rolling her eyes, Colette was about to give Christopher a piece of her mind when she got the notification of Owen's response. It gave her pause and without warning, she growled, low until it turned into a somewhat shrill sound, glaring at the device as if Owen could somehow feel her anger if she did so. Shay cast her a curious look.

"You okay over there?" The R&B singer asked and Colette's turn was too sharp for her to even deny her annoyance. "Your brother is lucky his face is too pretty to punched," she snapped and while Shay's face darkened for a moment at the mention of Owen, one of her eyebrows rose with faint interest. "Thanks for reminding how attractive you find Owen. I really needed to know that." Colette narrowed her eyes at Shay and for a moment, Tinashé was willing to play as if the past half an hour had not occurred. This was what she had missed in the time her and Colette had been apart, so she couldn't even stop the small smile dancing on her lips as she griped, "Bitch." To which Colette eagerly replied, "Skank." The only problem was that the playful nicknames she and her best friend would typically exchange left her flinching just a bit, her mind going back to both of her siblings basically calling her such. And if she thought for a second Colette was going to pretend like that had not happened, she was surely mistaken. Colette's eyes narrowed.

"What the hell happened back there anyway?" She needed to know, in case she had a lot more to say to Owen. It was one thing for him to have been the cause of Shay's tears, it would be another for her to know what he did or said to cause them. Shay bit her lower lip and Colette, pensive, glanced forward to their driver. "Ronald," his name was still Richard, "Drive us to Carson's place. Chris isn't coming and we can't find Oliver." Shay glanced at her curiously only to see the dead set expression on Colette's countenance. "Now talk." She said and, as if he knew, Richard rolled up the window so that he couldn't see or hear their conversation.

It was only after ten minutes that Colette allowed herself to show any type of emotion and it wasn't what Tinashé expected. She was used to Colette being extreme. If Shay was mad, Colette was beyond heated and excited. That was what was familiar for her. This cool expression was an entirely different thing. She had only encountered it when she had seen a girl piss Colette off to the point of her actually wanting to ruin the girl. She had not gone that far, but damn it all, that had been the first time her Bitchlette had reminded her that she and Ariana had come from the same womb. Colette, meanwhile, was furious. She could understand Owen's frustration, knew she would from the second she officially allowed Shay's text to fully conceptualize in her head. Carson and Alexandra had sex. Of course, Owen wasn't going to be patting his friend on the back for a job well done. And seeing said guy kissing all up on his other sister was bad. Really really bad. But he was seriously done with both Shay and Carson? And what he said to Shay? That was what she was pissed about and after a beat, she glanced back at her phone and typed out her text messages.

To: Owen
This is not happening over text. I will see you when I get back. It should be about another twenty minutes.

To: Christopher
While your best friend cries her heart out? Fine. Don't catch an STD.

To: Carson
On our way

Colette's claim to Owen about time only came after she got Ruchard to speed it up. Tinashé didn't know what Colette was thinking in her head and had narrowed eyes watching her friend for the entirety of her time texting, but when her own phone buzzed, she glanced downwards to see a message from Carson. She didn't understand how he could think that this was entirely his fault. Did she not kiss him back? Did she not seem to be giving in just like him? She was still just a bit upset about him sleeping with Alexandra, but that was back when she thought her sister was lost and confused. She could give two fucks about Alexa at this point. However, she didn't want to talk about this over text when they were obviously on their way to him.

"Oliver is good with computers, right?" Colette asked suddenly and Shay eyed her. "Yeah. Why?" Colette shrugged, seemingly unfazed. "I need his number." Shay was even warier to ask, but she did. "Why?" Colette exhaled dramatically, impatient. "Because someone posted that you and Carson being together and it's the talk of every social media site, and I want to know who was involved." Shay gaped, confused and outraged before texting Colette his number. She couldn't believe it! Was that why the paparazzi was asking? Not because, for some god awful reason, Alexa had spread even more vicious lies!? Colette, not paying attention to her friend's ire, sent a text out to the guy whose name she typically did not remember. It wasn't her fault that this was the first time he had ever proved himself relevant and useful in her life.

To: Oliver
Hey! Oliver, right? This is Colette. Look, I need your help on something. I gotta do something really quick, but I'll be back at the house soon, ok? Think you can be a dear?

It was harder to read Alexandra when she wasn't wailing with sorrow or slamming doors in anger, but Ariana preferred the toned down state of emotions over the first option. Not only did they have enough of that tonight with Owen, but she was never comfortable with people acting overtly emotional. For her, swallowing her feelings had always been easy and since she rarely dealt with anyone comforting her, it was hard for her to do so towards other. It would be a fair argument to say that she was also fairly cold and didn't care about other people's problems or feelings, but now with Alexandra, that wasn't the case. If it had been, she wouldn't have stood up for the younger girl in the car moments before. Still, it was definitely easier for her to deal with the problem when tears and sobs were not involved.

"They're friends, Lex. It's okay for them to watch a movie together. I'm sure Colette was on her way in to watch with them too," she rubbed her arm reassuringly. Ariana didn't know that Carson and Tinashé were as into each other as they were, but she knew that the pair weren't quite friends. At least not in the same realm as her and Carson being friends. With her own guilt looming over the timing of the post, she had to downplay the little she knew about the pair. It was only right, especially considering how Lex went on to confess that not only did she doubt Carson wanted to sleep with her that night, but he apparently thought she was some other girl too! That was bad and Ariana knew the feeling first hand. She had been asked to her senior prom by some guy that she had no feelings for, but agreed to go with because he was attractive, and because she knew that Colette had been hoping he would ask her. She was a virgin at the time, vowing to save herself for "the one", but after a few tequila shots, her inhibitions must have flown out the same limo sunroof that her bra did, because she ended up having sex with her date in the back seat. And what were his first words when it was all over? "Wow, Colette, that was amazing." Needless to say, that boy didn't even show his face the next day at their graduation ceremony, but it stuck with Ariana. Being able to relate that with what Lex was feeling gave her a better understanding of the situation, and why Alexandra had a right to feel hurt by her sister stepping in so soon after Carson used her like that.

What was strange, was that Alexandra didn't look so hurt or offended. She didn't sound it either, and before Ariana could answer, she moved on to questioning why boys liked her sister. That was a question that tested Ariana's nice streak. There were countless underhanded remarks she could give to that inquiry, but while Alexa's earlier comment made it apparent that she and her sister were not on good terms, she hadn't asked this question in a way that seemed like she wanted Ari to cut her Shay down. "Why do boys like Tinashé?" she repeated, trying to plan a careful response. It was the last question that Ariana ever expected to get, since Alexandra knew good and well that she and Shay did not get along. "On the surface level, she's obviously pretty and they probably like her music. You know that I don't know her well, Lex, but I'm sure there are other things about her that people like... If you mean Carson, though, than I don't have a real answer for you. She's closer in age with him than you are, and they've been friends for so long, so I would imagine that they can just relate to each other on a different level than you and Carson can." As she peered down at her phone and noticed the time lapse since she last saw Owen, she decided she needed to find him before he did another reckless thing. She stood up and looked back at Alexandra as she slipped her heels back on. "But I really don't think there's anything there, Lex, so don't worry, okay? Why don't you get some rest and we can figure all of this out tomorrow?" She offered the girl a soft smile before gently closing the door behind her. The house was silent and Ariana only imagined that that meant that Owen was still outside.

On her way downstairs, she found Oliver waiting at the bottom. It was a peculiar sight considering that no one else was around and the steps never seemed like a popular hangout spot. However, seeing him reminded her of what she had been meaning to text him since the car ride. "Take down that post," she demanded quietly, glancing around once more to make sure that no one was in sight. He looked back at her in surprise and his eyes anxiously followed her as she stepped down and stood in front of him. "What? You just told me to post it! It's already been reposted all over the internet!" It was obvious that he was feeling guilty about it too, but Ariana didn't care about how he felt. He was the one who had been snooping on Carson and Shay in the first place and even if she hadn't been there, he would have done something with that photo at some point. "I don't care, take it down. Say it was Rose sitting next to him. Say he was some other guy. Make something up, Oliver, be creative, but get that post off of your page now." Her voice was still little more than a hiss but her tone was sharp enough to cut through steel. He was right, the rumor had already taken off and removing it from his page wouldn't do much good, but she didn't want that traced back to either of them and it being gone would at least lift a small amount of guilt from her chest. "Okay, okay!" he replied quickly, pulling out his phone and deleting the post in a quick movement, as if he had been contemplating doing it himself all night. "Good boy," she smiled condescendingly as she continued past him and towards the front door.

Now, on to the hard part: dealing with Owen. She lingered in the foyer for a moment as she pulled out her phone to double check that the post was gone, and send out a couple text messages. She hadn't heard from Christopher or Colette since leaving the club, and was curious about how Carson fared in all of it as well.

To: Carson
What happened?

To: Colette
Speak with Alexandra tonight or tomorrow. She said Carson didn't even know who she was when they slept together and Collie, I'm sure you have experience being in her place. I need to deal with Owen anyway

To: Christopher
You better be home in 15 minutes. Tn is not the night to be pulling your shit

Alexandra took Ariana's advice and decided to get ready for bed after she left. She was physically exhausted, emotionally drained, and too scared to face Owen to even consider leaving her room. It was possible that he had calmed down by now. He seemed to get enough rage out in the car that she didn't think there could be that much anger left boiling inside of him, but at the same time, this wasn't something that she was used to. Owen ranting and raving was nothing new, but Owen ranting and raving about her sleeping with Carson definitely was, and none of their past altercations could even compare to his reaction tonight. She hoped that he would have calmed down by now, but she didn't know and wasn't going to risk it.

To: Chris
Are you still out? Wake me up if you come home tn. Shay is the biggest bitch alive and Owen beat Carson up. This summer is so fucked up already

She sent her message to Chris, who had been absent for most of tonight, as he had done yesterday. She was jealous of him, since he was probably still out having a good time, but she also needed someone who understood her position. Ariana was being especially nice tonight, but if anyone understood having an overbearing, perfectionist of an older sibling, it was Christopher. In some ways, he had two. Even if Colette didn't reach the impossibly high bar that Ariana set for the Rockefeller kids, she was a lot more successful and driven than Christopher was. She followed his text with a few to some of her girl friends who had wanted to meet up with her earlier at Greystone, and then changed into pajamas. After all of the bridges she had burned tonight, it was in her best interest to just go to bed. If she stayed up any longer, she might have worked up the nerve to send yet another nasty message to her sister or tried reaching out to Carson, and that was the last thing that anyone needed.

Friday, July 3rd | 10:00 A.M. | California

"So, what did he say?" Colette inquired after finishing up the piece of cream cheese-slathered bagel she had accepted as a part of her morning meal. Her phone, just like Tinashé's, was on speaker setting so that they both could move seamlessly. Colette sat at the same kitchen table they had already congregated at yesterday, back when things were as simple as Shay not liking Ariana and not wanting to pretend to like her for the sake of brothers whose names will not be mentioned. Colette still felt the sting of Owen's outburst last night and while she had been annoyed with the prospects of telling Ariana all that she knew, at the time, it had felt good to unleash some of the frustration on someone. And for once, it felt like her sister would actually listen to her. Even if it wasn't a situation that had as much to do with them.

"He said that we all handled the situation wrong," Shay explained as she whisked the contents of the bowl swiftly. She had woken up at around eight, feeling not well-rested but not exactly tired either. She could have easily gone back to bed, snuggled up to a sleeping Carson but compulsivity forced her to turn her phone back on only to see various texts from interviewers, her manager, a few friends who did not know her and Carson were together, and Pierce. The last one had her scrambling out of bed as quietly as she could to call him back. The conversation lasted thirty minutes, what with Shay's hesitations, but Pierce wasn't going to be sated until he knew everything that she did. He had been told the rumors of her dating Carson, tried calling her the first time and received no answer, called Owen who also did not answer, and had decided to try her again. He originally thought Owen was just upset about that and told her to let it pass, but Shay's reluctance led to his questionings and then the truth coming out. The silence had been deafening, but she was able to walk away from it knowing that at least Pierce didn't hate her. He was disappointed in all of them, particularly Carson and Alexandra, but they all played a role in how it came out.

"He said that he's not sure if he wants to kick Carson out of the house like Owen, but he also doesn't want there to be any more fights either," she admitted, checking the skillet she had laid out to see if the butter had melted. Carson actually did live in a bachelor's pad and there were more frozen products than actual food items. Luckily, she had scrounged up enough to make pancakes and put grocery shopping on the list of things he needed taken care of. "Has he told his psycho son that?" Colette snapped and set down her strawberry mimosa a bit harder than she expected after taking a demure sip. Unlike what Owen thought, she did understood why he was angry. At the same time, he was being overdramatic and that said something when the definition of overdramatic called someone on it. Shay chuckled and poured a decent amount of batter into the skillet before carefully setting the bowl down so that she could focus on the cooking pancake. "What's wrong, Bitchlette? I'd think you love a more passionate side of him." If looks could kill and Colette could actually see Tinashé, the singer would probably be sprawled out on the kitchen floor. "You just better be lucky that I can't stab you through this phone with my fork," the designer growled and Shay could only laugh, preparing herself to flip the pancake since she could see it browning along the edges.

After the talk with Pierce and smaller one with Aimee, who Shay could feel preening over the phone at the idea of Shay and Carson (she apparently saw that coming!), Shay was surprised to see a text from one of her drivers. After Colette had dished everything to Ariana, the sisters went their separate ways with Ariana reminding her that alcoholism was never attractive. Colette couldn't even offer her a hint of a witty retort in pursuit of a Sangria and the hot bath she had nearly fallen asleep in. Once morning came, however, she could not remain in the dark embrace of unconsciousness for she had never been really tired. Instead, she rifled through Tinashé's closet, appalled at the selection despite recalling placing a few of the items in there. She made a mental note to send Shay more clothes before deciding on a decent enough outfit to send off. The driver thought it would be best to have someone else drive Shay's clothes while he brought her truck, just in case she decided to drive home. He rode back with the other individual. Still choosing not to wake Carson up considering the fact that it wasn't even passed nine in the morning yet, Shay hopped into the shower, minutely grateful for Colette knowing to pack her toiletries. Dressed and pretty much make-up-less, her stomach grumbled with a hunger for food.

"So, are you still in hiding or are you coming home, missy?" Colette inquired, skewering a piece of pineapple on her fork. She inspected it beneath the warm rays from the sun that peeked through the large windows before plucking it off the utensil and into her mouth. Shay pulled the first pancake off of the skillet to a separate plate and set to making the second while answering, "I'll be over soon." Colette beamed. "Good. You owe me a spa slash pool day, and we need to make these fourth of July plans before tomorrow," she said, playing with a small cube from her assorted fruits bowl. "We all need some kind of distraction after last night's disaster." Shay hummed in agreement. "We'll figure something out." She flipped the pancake, smiling at the golden shade it held. "Good. Hurry back home with your boy toy so we can knock his socks off with this bikini I picked for you." Shay pretended to make a disgusted face, though she was only jesting. "Uh, bossy much?" Colette only grinned and replied, "Wouldn't love me if I wasn't! Smooches!" Shay wrinkled her nose on a laugh before making a loud smacking noise with her lips as if she kissed Colette through the phone. A second later, the conversation was over and she was fully concentrating on making breakfast.

Colette, meanwhile, decided to text both Alexandra and Oliver. Walking into the mansion last night to see Oliver while still with Ariana did not make for an environment where she could grill Oliver for information. Plus, her back-and-forth with Owen and having to tell Ariana everything left her not in the mood to play nice, which was how Shay wanted her to interact with the college kid, so she had left it alone. She had also left Lex alone, partly because of the text she had belatedly seen from Ariana and also because of how Lex treated Shay. Now, however, it was the perfect time to talk to both before the evil twin and his Royal Douchebag returned. She also wanted to know where her brother was.

To: Chris
Catch any STDs while u were out?

To: Alexa
Come eat breakfast w/ me. Owen and Shay aren't here.

To: Oliver
Evrything was so hectic last nite and I didn't want 2 b mean 2 u. Can we still talk?

Shay's body tensed up momentarily at the sound of Carson's voice, not out of anxiety or fear, but the awareness that there was another presence near her. Only a moment later, she tossed him a grin over her shoulder before reverting her attention back to the stove. One plate, a short stack of pancakes, was already finished and she was working on the last pancake for the second stack. Which was obviously hers since Carson nabbed the one on the counter top. "Well, when your step dad calls you twice, it's kinda hard to fall back asleep. And no, Colette sent one of the staff here with some stuff," she replied wistfully, flipping the pancake in the skillet before chancing a real look at Carson.

He still looked tired, she noted even after giving him a small smile at the approval of her food. Yesterday's memory still lingered in the air all around them, even if she had told herself that she had scrubbed away the hurt and grime of her brother's anger away in the shower. However, it still remained and even more-so, it was still going to be apparent than Owen hated her and Carson. He would probably be even more pissed when he found out that they were...that they were whatever they called themselves. Which was something she honestly wanted - no, needed - to know. "CJ..." For a second, the words didn't come out and Shay's gaze returned to her cooking pancake. Giving herself a little time, she scooped it out of the skillet and onto her plate before sliding the still heated pan into the sink of warm soapy water. She ignored the hiss of hot metal touching liquid in favor of turning fully to the now seated Carson.

She had kissed him last night as a means for suggesting that she was with him. The real question, though, was if he was with her. After all of this, knowing that there would be drama with Owen from here on, she didn't doubt that Carson would want to just call it quits and run. Hell, she wouldn't be surprised if everything that happened alerted him to the fact that maybe he didn't really have real feelings. Maybe it was just lust and maybe Shay was overthinking everything too, she didn't know. But she didn't want to keep it to herself either. So, putting on her big girl pants, she stepped close to him until she had slid between his legs, the height he was currently at allowing her to do such. Biting her lower lip, she didn't look up at him for a few seconds before finally dragging her eyes to his. Finally, words came out and at some point she sped up, but all she could care about was that they were said and that hopefully, she wouldn't get the answer she anticipated. "Look, I know a lot happened yesterday, and I know things happen in the heat of the moment and if you didn't mean them, that's fine, I won't fault you. I just...what are we? Because if we're anything, it's gonna be bad and if you don't want this, then..."

Answer ur phone

To: Chris
I'm gonna keep this up until u answer me

To: Chris
WAKE UP!!!

Colette might have actually begun pestering her brother purposefully, especially if he had went out with whomever he had managed to bag last night. She was still a bit upset with him for choosing a lay over his best friend. Chris wasn't some overly-emotional or sentimental guy, but she didn't expect him to be so heartless. Shay had literally been crying in his arms - the same girl who hated when she cried, in any situation. So, it spelled bad and the fact that he ignored that in favor of getting fucked by some random little drunk bimbo annoyed her, and so Colette felt justified in getting on her brother's nerves. Still smirking at her phone and awaiting a response from either of her original two contacts, her gaze fell on the last notification of a message exchange between herself and Owen. Knowing Shay, she was not going to tell her step-brother that Pierce was looking for him and she didn't blame her. She also didn't doubt that Owen would be trying to avoid his father at the moment. At the same time, and blame it on her for caring a bit more than she should, she couldn't help but contact the idiot, though she left the message as detached of her usual quips as she could.

To: Owen
Rise and shine, ur Dad called. Perhaps u should call him back, no?

Setting her phone down, Colette turned to smile at a kitchen staff member who refilled her strawberry mimosa, smiling appreciatively. She honestly did not anticipate Alexandra coming down for breakfast with her, but the invitation had been extended and she would have liked at least a response. She also would have preferred Oliver's presence by now, but she was trying to be a bit patient. In her musings, she almost did not notice Alexa coming into the kitchen until she head the eighteen year old ask about the others in the house. Colette primly uncrossed and crossed her legs, taking her glass in her hand as she smiled at the youngest Collins member. Last night, Colette might have actually snapped at Lex. She might have called her out on being so damn selfish and for putting her sister in such a horrible position when it was really her own fault. However, after all of that stress, all she could do at the moment was play it sweet. It wouldn't be the first time she had acted. "Just you and me, and Ari and Oliver. Your brother left last night, good riddance." Colette said the last part with a larger drink of her mimosa and set it back down.

She raised an eyebrow at Alexandra's ignoring whomever she was calling her, perhaps Pierce or Aimee? Those would be two people who would call only to warrant such a reaction. Shay wasn't calling Alexandra any time soon and Owen wouldn't call. He would probably snatch her up like he did last night. Her eyebrow probably twitched a bit at the sound of Lex insulting Shay, but Colette took a page out of Ariana's book and allowed her gaze to rove over the brunette before remarking, "My slut of a best friend bought that bikini. I remember because I helped her pick it out." It was more on a thoughtful note than anything else, but also as a reminder that Lex shouldn't be turning on the only person in the house who played as her ally and, playing with the pieces of fruit on her saucer, Colette added frostily, "We're also not talking about my friend if you can't delete the insults from your vocabulary. The last thing you two need to be are one another's enemies when your brother is acting crazy." With that part said, Colette's gaze returned to Alexa's. "So, how are you feeling? Now that everything's out in the open? Last night was...something."

Colette was honestly beginning to believe that the world was conspiring against her. No sooner had she arrived in the hallway leading to Tinashé's room, Ariana was there and good God, that was not fair. Not fair at all and Colette cursed every deity that seemed to have an issue with her. Glowering at the tone of her sister's voice, Colette chose not to comment on Ariana's initial commentary and walked to Shay's door. She wasn't even sure why Ariana was this close to Shay's room anyway. Wasn't she staying in Owen's room or something like that? The only rooms close enough to Shay, since her and Owen were on opposite sides, were Alexa's and the two spare bedrooms that she and possibly Rose stayed at. There was another, one that Carson and Shay had stayed at on the first night, but Colette didn't honestly care. She just honestly didn't want Ariana to be near her at the moment. She had fucked up and the last person that needed to know that was the brunette standing closest to her.

However, rushing into the room and ignoring Ariana would have been far too conspicuous and before she knew it, her twin would have barged into Shay's room, regardless of the singer being inside or not being inside. So, when Colette got to the door and opened it, she turned around, hoping to fix Ariana with a look that spelled that she didn't really care to be in Ari's presence, much like her typical expressions when it came to her sister. "Yeah, sure thing." It was in response to playing along to Ariana's lie about Chris. To be completely honest, she didn't know where Chris was and, because she was still upset with him for wanting to bang Polly Pocket instead of supporting his best friend, she could care less. She only hoped he wasn't laden with STI's their family money would have to pay to get taken care of.

Colette was also a bit curious as to why Ariana was still there. The routine typically consisted of Ariana acknowledging Colette's existence, perhaps making a remark about her outfit which would prompt Colette to grit her teeth in supplying a thanks, making some comment about borrowing another item of clothing or about Colette's countenance, a small use of her most hated nicknames, and then Ariana's departure and Colette's lingering bitterness because in all of that she probably could have snapped at Ariana. Still, this was unnecessary time together and Colette could feel the pangs of wariness gnawing at the smile she was trying to keep on her face. She was trying her hardest not to keep Alexa on her mind so that her guilt could remain nonexistent in her eyes and this prolonged exposure to her biggest stressor was not helping. And then Ariana - despite all the mental pleas Colette sent her way - continued.

Clearing her throat a little and biting back a need to yell for her drink to come faster, Colette immediately answered Ariana, "Shay's on her way back home from Carson's place. I told her it would be best to stay with him when I thought your boy toy was going to go on a murdering spree." She ran a hand leisurely through the ends of her hairs, flipping them over her shoulder to distract herself from thoughts of Alexa and their conversation. "Said psycho text me, so he might be on his way home. And...Alexa...is in the dining room under us. Going to the pool apparently, so she's obviously better than she was yesterday." She opted out of mentioning the rude text she had gotten from Ariana last night, pressing herself subtly against Shay's door.

"Anyway, I'm going to find Shay a bathing suit...since we're going to be poolside today. Bye," Colette said, feeling a bit awkward because this interaction had lasted too long and she really didn't want to be in Ariana's presence too much longer. However, closing the door behind her so quickly would have been obvious so she left it open upon entering, immediately going to Shay's closet. Her friend's wardrobe, horrendous in her opinion, would serve as a decent distraction until she arrived. She did choose to text her brother one more time, though.

To: Chris
Mom's looking 4 u. Told her u were here.

It was when relief that flooded her upon Carson admitting that yesterday wasn't a lie. Shay honestly would not have been surprised. She would have been hurt, yes, but this was also the girl who had not had an actual romantic encounter in a few years. It was easy for her to think that maybe that kind of life - that kind of relationship - was not in the cards for her. However, Carson did want her, not just the singe every other guy lusted after. It was enough to have her smiling, hard enough so that her dimples were more visible, and she found herself laughing lowly because, wow, he was nervous too. She thought the uneasy sensation in her stomach was just her acting like a little bitch in an adult situation, but lo and behold, she wasn't the only one. Colette would probably pretend to puke at them, but she honestly could not care about how not so tough she looked.

Still grinning, Tinashé leaned up and kissed Carson softly, only deepening it when she felt him press back against her. Her face growing hot, Shay's fingers threaded through the short hairs at the back of his head, pulling him closer to her. She didn't care that her heart seemed to not know what rhythm it was supposed to be on or the fact that her phone was buzzing on the counter. All she could concentrate on was that there was warm skin just below her fingertips and the awareness of who it belonged to making her breathless. Or maybe it was the fact that she needed to pull away, she honestly didn't know. When she did pull away, her smile was still wide and she decided to tease Carson, "I don't know, Mr. Koch. That sounds like a very tall order to fill." It was only a second later when she laughed and finished with, "But I think I'm up for it." Cheesy and absolutely enough of a statement to make the her from yesterday roll her eyes, but she was too happy at the moment to care and kissed Carson again, gentle and teasing.

It wasn't long for her phone to make that annoying buzzing sound and Shay rolled her eyes, reluctantly pulling away from Carson in favor of grabbing her phone. The first text, a definite way of killing the mood, was from Owen. Shay inhaled and exhaled deeply, already aggravated because she could hear his petulant tone through the message. He obviously didn't want to talk to her and, seeing his mood through the text, she didn't want to speak with at the moment either. He would only remind her of that feeling from yesterday, when she was close to tears for an entire hour, and she was happy at the moment. Happy during the worst of times, but happy nonetheless. So, she had plans to ignore it in favor of Colette impatiently informing her to come home, which made her giggle. "Bitchlette's in the house with only Ariana and Alexa. She says she's dying," she told Carson with a smirk before seeing Pierce's text. It was official. She had no choice but to talk to Owen. Shay groaned, pressing her head against Carson's shoulder. She didn't want to leave yet. She wanted to finish eating pancakes, maybe watch a movie, stall as best as she could - she didn't want to go to that house!

"Just our luck, I've gotta go home apparently. Captain's orders," she stated on a murmur, and then pulled away. "Pierce wants Owen and me to talk, not like that's gonna do anything..." She honestly didn't know what the outcome of her conversation with Owen was going to be and she honestly didn't think anything good was going to come out of it without Pierce mediating it. She had never seen Owen so mad before and honestly, was not a fan of being in such a presence again. However, no matter how rebellious she liked to think she had been, there was no way in hell she could avoid Owen either. Not when she refused to bow to her brother and definitely not when Pierce's text was as curt as it was. He meant no funny business and it was rare when she got that from her step-father. Not even bothering with the food she didn't eat, Shay leaned up and pecked Carson's cheek. She had a feeling he was wary about talking to Pierce, but she'd rather him do it now than when Pierce returned after having enough time to stew in his disappointment. God knows what would happen if Pierce went on the same berserker rage that Owen had been on. "I'll call you a bit later, but...you should call Pierce. Not the easiest convo to have, trust me I know, but you might as well get it over with. He didn't say he was kickng you out...but...I'd rather you just talk to the person who owns the house." Kissing him again, Shay headed into the living room to grab the small bag of her clothes from yesterday, her keys and then headed out, knowing that if she lingered any longer, she wouldn't leave.

Outside and at her car, she threw her things in the back seat, just after taking her glasses out of her bag. She didn't need to do small things like having a conversation with Carson or cooking, but distance...she and distance never got along. So, she slid them on before climbing into her truck, taking a moment to text Owen and inform Colette of her being on the way. At the last second, she deleted the text she was about to send to Alexa, a constant thing she did whenever she was about to deal with Owen for her sister or when he was getting on her nerves just as much as he was on Lex's. However, she would be damned if she tried to make peace with Alexa first and more than that, she was still as upset with her sister as Lex probably was with her. Alexa was known for holding grudges and Shay had always forgiven. For once, she felt like she deserved a chance to prolong her anger. It probably was her being petty, something Shay prided herself on not being, but she had also prided herself on trying with Lex to no avail. So, making sure that her text to Owen was sent, Shay turned her car on and then began her journey to the house.

To: Owen
Not about whether I want 2 or not

Captain's orders, so I'm on my way

When the last of her marshmallows were finished and the strawberries finished off, Alexandra decided to start her day of relaxation. It was well needed, and in her mind, well deserved, despite a large amount of the stress being her own fault. Once her virgin lemonade was replaced with an Absolut lemonade, she hightailed it for the pool. With the California heat making itself impossible to ignore, Alexandra considered actually taking a dip on the pool. She only decided to wait when she noticed her phone had not calmed down. Not only had her father left her a couple more voicemail messages, but her friends were texting her about what they were going to do for the fourth of July. Unlike Tinashé, Alexandra never really threw parties at the family's home. Shay got lucky with Owen being at boarding school for part of her teenage years, and with them being so close in age, and with Pierce being lenient with her as he tried to get his stepdaughter to warm up to him. That wasn't to say that when Shay got caught having them that she didn't get in trouble, but Alexandra felt that it was far easier for Shay to get away with them than it would be for her. Besides, she took advantage of being home alone by going out. Los Angeles had enough clubs to keep her occupied forever, and maybe she was attracted to the trouble she always seemed to find while out. However, she was now sure that she wanted to celebrate July 4th here, with as many people as possible. To piss off her dad, whose relentless calls were driving her crazy, and to piss off Owen, who had apparently channeled all of his energy over the last two days into disrespecting her.

She sent out a slew of texts to friends telling them that she would be hosting the holiday affair tomorrow, and then one to Christopher and Colette. Hailey had texted her at some point last night, drunkenly giving her live updates on her night with Chris. She was one of Alexa's closest friends and had been talking about hooking up with him forever, so Alexandra couldn't really be mad. But she was jealous. Just a little bit. If the feelings meant nothing else, which was debatable in itself, than she was just jealous that someone was becoming closer with him than she was. Shay had already done that and she didn't need another girl doing the same.

To: Chris
You and me are hosting here tomorrow for the 4th.

Btw how was Hailey?

To: Shay
Just an fyi that i need the house tomorrow so make sure Carson knows you're spending the night there again <3

To: Colette
Me and Chris are having ppl over tomorrow. Want to be my favorite Rockefeller and buy me lots of alcohol for it? You kind of owe me now anyway

She turned her phone volume back on as she laid stomach-down on one of the lounge chairs by the far end of the pool. She needed to get color and was hoping that she would be able to fall back asleep while doing so, but now she needed to make sure she could get her impromptu party in order for tomorrow night.

Christopher sat in the back of a cab, his mind foggy with exhaustion and a strong hangover. It was around ten-thirty, fifteen minutes after he had left the house of a friend of a friend of Hailey's. His phone had been ringing all morning with calls from his mother, texts from Hailey, and a couple of texts from his sisters, but they all fell on deaf ears. Chris needed to go back to bed. The only reason why he had woken up so early was because Hailey had to be at a photo shoot at ten, and since he didn't know the people who owned the house they were staying at, he knew he kind of had to go home. If that wasn't enough pushing him back to the Collins' estate, reliving last night had him out the door as soon as the cab driver called and said he was there. Christopher didn't think he really did anything wrong by opting to go home with Hailey rather than with Colette and Shay. Yeah, she was his best friend and yeah, it was obvious that she was really upset when she had come to him with tears streaming down her cheeks, but he was going to get laid! And not just laid by anyone, but by a smoking hot model! Was Shay really going to blame him for making that choice?! Especially when he knew that Colette was there to handle whatever was going on?

Just in case she was going to blame him, when he waited to be buzzed in through the first set of gates, he pulled out his phone to text her, and the three other girls.

To: Shay
You okay? What happened last night?

To: Colette
U da real MVP Coco

To: Ariana
Chill chill I'm home

To: Alexa
Sick sounds good! We should get kegs and shit. Make it a hardcore house party not some debutante ball that u know my sisters are gonna wanna throw

Are they all cool with it tho? Or are we getting rid of them for the night xD?

And she was GREAT thx for asking. Shoulda set me up with her sooner Collins

The cab driver pulled to a slow halt behind the third set of gates. He looked at Chris, still distracted with his phone in the rear view mirror, and cleared his throat impatiently to signal that it was time for him to get out. Chris got the hint, shuffled through his pockets for a couple of twenties, and was on his way just as fast as the driver was on his way out. Stepping into the Collins' air conditioned mansion brought a wave of cool relief. It wasn't even noon and yet the temperature was already crawling upwards at a pace too fast for his liking. The fact that he was wearing last night's clothes and was still fighting a hangover didn't make him feel any more comfortable, so without bothering to seek out his sisters or Shay, who coincidentally had hurried up the stairs only a few minutes before him, he headed to his bathroom to shower. He hoped that would get him ready for another day that, if the last two said anything, was sure to be interesting.

"What did you do?" Colette asked the second she looked up from her phone. She had been in the middle of texting Chris a five paragraph essay about how much of a horrible friend he was when she heard the door to Shay's bedroom open. She had closed it after a few moments of being inside, needing to make sure Ariana was gone and wanting to be alone to change and relax on Shay's extremely luxurious bed. The singer in question froze at the door, hand on the knob as if she would fling herself out of the room in no time. Instead of answering her friend, Shay sized the Rockefeller up, who was all dolled up in her Salvatore Ferragamo one-piece.

"Leave it to you to dress up like Jacky Kennedy," she sneered, though she had to say that the near retro look Colette was sporting complimented her barely-there tan, naturally highlighted chestnut brown hair, and beauty. Colette allowed a pleasant smirk to lift the left corner of her mouth before retorting, "I'd rather be her than Slutty McSlut Slut." Finally, an actual smile flitted across Shay's face followed by a laugh as she stepped further into her bedroom, and Colette only smiled in response. "Slutty McSlut Slut? Really?" Colette beamed, grabbing the Choies bathing suit she had picked out for Shay. "Just shut up and get changed, bitch." Still laughing, Shay went to her closet and closed the doors behind her, only leaving them slightly ajar in case Colette continued talking.

Which Colette was privy to. She had been gnawing her lower lip the entire time she had been in Shay's room, having only left the safety of it when she went to find her own in her room. She was still reeling from her confession to Alexa, whom she knew was just ecstatic now that she had dirt on at least one of the Rockefeller twins. It was one thing to have something on Chris; he put himself out there for the world to see and gave absolutely no fucks to what people thought anymore. Colette and Ariana were on another level. Colette may be the more reckless one, but she kept certain things private and she had more control over herself than either she or Ariana gave her credit for. Which was why she was mentally cursing herself for letting her guard down like that with Alexa. "I messed up royally and it's your damn sister's fault," she finally blurted out, clenching and unclenching her hands at her sides. Shay was sliding the last of her current outfit off when she heard her friend, peeking her head out to stare at Colette curiously. "What she do now?" She asked before sliding back inside. Colette worried her lower lip between her teeth once more before replying, "I might have told Alexa about Ariana knowing I liked Owen." Brown eyes widened in shock and luckily for her, Shay had already slid on the snug bathing suit because she lunged out of her closet, eyes still wide and mouth agape. "Noooooooo..." Colette's head bobbed vigorously. "Yep and it's only a matter of time before it gets back to Ariana since Alexa seems to not have a damn filter and then she's going to kill me and I won't be able to look at Owen, and I'll probably have to join a nunnery because there's no way in hell I won't be exiled - " Shay cut in quickly, "Bitchlette." Colette, in the midst of speaking fast, paused before composing herself. Shay was still one of the few people who could talk her down from a breakdown, which occurred rarely. However, as the beginning of their summer had proved, this time with all of them together under one roof would prove a challenge. Especially if Colette was already frazzled.

"Look, Lex is a brat and can't be trusted, but she likes you," Tinashé stated, a knowing yet solemn expression on her face. If Colette wasn't trying to calm herself down, she would have mentally pat herself on the back for having picked that bathing suit out back in Paris. It had the right amount of sexual deviance to speak to Shay's own sensuality combined with enough of a flair to remain fashionable and tasteful. However, her gaze and attention were solely fixed on her best friend speaking. "And it's because she likes you that she's not gonna say anything. And if she does, I give you permission to kick her ass." Colette still found it in her to purse her lips, but lamented, "That's oddly reassuring. How was talking with Owen?" Shay only rolled her eyes, opening her smaller closer to get towels for the pool. Once both girls were equipped with Chanel sunglasses and had ordered for watermelon tequila cocktails, they headed downstairs with Shay explaining what happened with Owen and Colette fumed over Alexa thinking she was going to boss her around.

By the time they had made it outside, Colette huffed before Shay, storming out into the pool area and paying no mind to the fact that they were not alone. She was too focused on being upset with Shay for telling Owen that she had had - and yes, she was going to refer to it in past tense - feelings for him, all for the sake of beating him in an argument. While it was well-placed (and she hated having to admit that) and it had been a great way to win (and minutely made Colette proud of her girl), the flaming of her cheeks and the fact that she was terrified of seeing him any time soon made her toss a glare at Shay over her shoulder. Meanwhile, Shay was texting Chris, Alexa, and Carson. The boys because, well, they were her boys and her sister because, why not? The girl had text her first. She had even included a picture of herself in the text to Carson to further entice his return to the estate.

To: Carson
This good enuf 2 get u 2 come hang out w/ us?

To: Lex
FYI I already have a party planned. We can even combine them. U bring ur fairly legal friends & I'll have Carson and mine over. It'll be great. Love yoooooooooouuuuuu <3

To: Chris
Nothing u need 2 worry about. Hope u had fun last nite

"Collie..." Shay started when she got over to their chairs, but Colette only huffed, set her phone down, and turned to the staff who brought out their flotation devices and drinks. "I'm still mad at you," she muttered, glancing over finally at a relaxing Alexandra whom she had just responded to. After being helped onto the device, Colette relaxed against the rubbery device beneath her, allowing it to take her into the water and sipped her crisp drink. Rolling her eyes but also feeling guilty, Shay set their towels and her phone down, and followed suit, allowing herself to float in the water comfortably by her best friend's side until the brunette spoke to her again.

To: Alexa
Ur sister is getting drinks

Alexandra got a solid ten minutes of relaxation in before her phone pinged with a message from Chris. He seemed on board with the idea of a party, but had valid concerns about how well it would go over with the others... or more specifically, with Owen and Ariana. Even though Ariana was good in Alexa's book lately, it didn't change the fact that she was just as much of a member of the fun police as Owen was. Both of them were too responsible for their own good, and maybe it was necessary considering that they both had fairly reckless siblings, but they seemed to take it too far. Owen did, at least, and Alexandra could only imagine his reaction to her throwing a party on top of all of the trouble he probably felt like she was in. Another "Call me" text from her dad came in after she texted Chris back, and Lex knew that that call was something that she wasn't going to be able to put off for much longer. She tried to act like nothing was wrong in her response to her dad, hoping that maybe playing the innocent card would lessen the amount of yelling she was sure to hear in a few minutes. As she hit send, she decided that she was just going to have to call Aimee and hope that she didn't pass the phone over to Pierce.

To: Chris
Hopefully Owen has a heart attack by then. Wouldn't be surprised. And Shay will probably be with Carson for the rest of the summer bc she's a hoe like that so I told Colette to get us alc

To: Dad
I just woke up I'll call you when I get out of the shower :). Hope the trip is going good so far!!

She placed her phone back down on the end table next to her chair, but this time, opted to turn it back onto silent mode. Even if she did need to hear back from Colette, it wasn't worth the constant noises from other people texting her. Plus, she didn't want to know what her dad was going to say in response and decided to savor the good vibes of the morning while they still were around. This time, it only took five minutes for her peace and quiet to be interrupted yet again, but now, it was her surroundings and not her phone that was pulling at her attention. She was lying face down but it wasn't hard to match the approaching voices to Tinashé and Colette. Her phone was less than a foot away, but she was too relaxed to reach over and see if either of the girls had responded. Since neither of them seemed to notice her, or at least chose not to acknowledge her, she didn't think she needed to greet them either. She was still tired and with the sun beaming down on her, becoming tired enough that she was close enough to falling back to sleep...

"Miss, would you like a refill?" Alexandra hadn't heard one of the female members of the hired help approach her, and the close voice definitely startled her. She was on the brink of dozing off but the surprise had her heart jumping and she reluctantly rolled onto her back. Offering to refill her alcoholic lemonade was the only interruption that Alexandra could tolerate, so rather than insolently telling the woman to leave her be, she nodded and gave a quiet thank you. Now that she was sitting up, she knew that with Shay and Colette sitting nearby and probably spewing gossip, there was no way that she would be able to fall back asleep. She read through her texts from the two quickly before pacing towards the pool. Unlike the girls, she wasn't going to tan on the water, but she sat on the edge and allowed her lower legs to dip into the cool water.

"I'm clearly not the crazy one in the family if you think inviting Carson onto this property is even a remotely good idea," she said, adjusting her Aviators as she looked towards her sister. She wasn't sure how to interpret her sister's text but the fact that she had responded at all suggested that Alexandra was allowed to talk to her. She knew that she was walking on thin ice and opted not to start a fight with Shay over Carson, or even call her out of her name. Colette was probably right - with Owen raging, she needed Shay on her side. Still, even if she wasn't going to have a problem with having Carson around (which she still wasn't sure about), Owen definitely was. Tinashé didn't have to sit through last night's car ride with Owen, who probably would have mowed down innocent pedestrians in his state of anger. If she thought that Carson and Owen were going to be able to coexist, she really was crazy. "Unless Colette plans on distracting him with that bikini bod, I think you're asking for trouble." Alexandra was sure that Colette had told Shay about the Owen thing, but it didn't keep her from smirking at the brunette floating beside Shay. It probably sounded too logical to be coming from the queen of problem-causing, but Alexandra really couldn't see this panning out well. On the plus side, it would probably force Owen to channel his anger towards Shay and Carson rather than her, and that would be a fun show to watch but at the same time, Alexandra doubted that Shay cared. Alexa got the bad wrap for it, but when pushed, Shay could push Owen back ten times as hard, and Alexa didn't doubt that her sister would want Carson back in the house even more than once Owen said no. She was right though. Owen didn't own the property. He wasn't the patriarch of the family, despite what he seemed to believe and neither of them had to answer to him. She did have to answer to her dad, though. Shay and Owen had done their time making that call and as her father's name flashed on her screen again, Alexandra knew that her time was up. "Do you think your mom is going to be nicer to me than my dad will be if I call her?" she questioned, just as the woman returned with her drink.

About twenty minutes later, Chris stepped out of the shower into a bathroom full of steam. He tied a towel around his waist and stepped into his bedroom, where his first move was to sit down on his bed and scroll through his phone. More texts from Hailey, a response from Shay and one from Alexandra too... Shay's text made him feel as guilty as Colette probably thought he deserved to feel. Maybe she wasn't purposely being curt with him, but he knew it was wrong of him to have abandoned her last night. Was it worth it? Possibly, but that didn't make it morally acceptable. He should have been there last night to find out what was wrong and to make sure his best friend was okay. They had had each other's backs through thick and thin for the past two months. Not only were they best friends, but roommates and partners in crime too. She had showed him an amazing time in Europe and Colette was right, he knew damn well that a crying Shay meant that something was really wrong. He needed to find out what it was, but after sending his first text to Shay and then reading Alexandra's text, he was able to piece a little bit of it together.

He didn't remember much of what Shay had said the night before when she came to him crying. The alcohol, and fact that she was sobbing into his arms over loud music left him with barely any understanding of what had gone on. Now, Alexandra's reference to Carson, matched with what he had read in some tabloid article a friend linked him to this morning, gave him a slightly clearer picture of what was happening. Shay and Carson were an item, apparently. Alexandra didn't seem happy about it and it was pretty obvious that the other Collins' sibling wasn't going to be pleased either. If Owen was a normal guy, it would be understandable that he would be pissed off and uncomfortable for a little while, but if anything, Chris would expect Owen to want his sister to be with a guy that he knew would treat her right. Carson was Owen's best friend, and though Chris had always thought of Carson as the guy to be happy being single, he knew he actually was a good guy. From the countless times Chris walked in on them Facetiming, he knew that he had been close with Shay for a while anyway. Owen wasn't a normal brother though, and without hearing much of anything that went on the last night, he had a feeling that if Owen knew about this, it had been a bad night.

To: Shay

The last two texts were definitely sent playfully, but he was curious about the details on Shay and Carson now that the idea was planted in his head. He didn't rush to get dressed, but when he was finished and was headed downstairs to the kitchen, followed up his texting spree with one more.

To: Carson
Treat my girl right!

Btw fucking legendary dude

U and Shay, Ari and Owen then once I snag Lex, we'll be keeping it in the fam

When Alexandra continued to try to exonerate herself and went on her little bitch fit, Shay was two seconds from lunging on her sister or throwing her ridiculous ass in the pool. Whichever one came first, honestly. However, the brat was behind Colette, safe from both of her siblings, and Shay was seriously contemplating how much Colette would hate her for getting her tossed in the pool as well. At the same time, it seemed as if she and Owen were on the same wave length for the first time in twenty four hours because neither had spoken words in the midst of Alexandra seemingly blaming them for everything. She didn't even want to take responsibility for the fact that she was crept on Carson, basically saying that it was because of her friends and that Carson started it. Even Colette had to glance at the girl, though only momentarily because either sibling could get to the girl at this point, and glare at her. Really? Colette mentally had to ask. She didn't even know why she had to be brought up in all of this, especially considering she stood as the only barrier between Alexa, her skyscraper tall brother, and her sister who seemed ready to star in the second remake of Karate Kid. Was the girl trying to get both of them killed?

The three young adults - and Colette could only refer to them as adults because even Lex had to acknowledge that she was sounding like a child - seemed to finally come off of their standstill because the second Owen opened his mouth, Colette anticipated another blowout. She expected him to reach behind her, Colette's own safety be damned, and snatch Lex up. So, her surprise was visible when he sounded a bit calmer, though frustrated and disappointed. It was the calmest she had seen him since before last night's revelations and Colette couldn't help but frown at that, casting him an apologetic look. Tinashé, however, was not with him. "Oh, you ain't gotta strangle that bitch. I will!" She growled, passed Owen in quick strides and would have reached Alexandra better had Colette not chose that moment to release the younger Collins sibling to grab a hold over Shay's flailing arms. "Shay, no!" Colette cried, trying to reason with her friend who was definitely stronger than most people gave her credit. Luckily, Colette seemed to have enough of a grip on Shay that she couldn't really get to Alexandra, but she did manage to catch the side of her sister's face with one of her fists before Colette had uttered a word. But Shay was seeing red and her best friend being in the way was not helping.

"Considering the fact you could barely pass high school, let me give you a refresher," she snapped, still trying to push at Colette who seemed a bit stronger. Or maybe Shay really wasn't angry, but more hurt because even she knew she could have honestly shoved Colette harder. "The definition of rape is forcing someone to commit a sexual act without their consent...consent meaning that they would have to be able to think and make decisions coherently, little sister. And considering Carson was not coherent, your ass could actually go to jail. But of course, you're too fucking dumb to realize that." Shay wriggled futilely against Colette and Colette glanced back at Alexa, agitated. "Just...get the fuck out of here, Lex." Shay growled one more time before shoving at Colette, sending the brunette back a few steps.

"No, she needs to stay. We all have to hear what the fuck she's gotta say, twenty four hours a day, three hundred and sixty five days every year. So, she's gonna hear what I have to say." For years, Tinashé had defended and lied for Lex. When that girl wanted to sneak out, Shay covered. When she had a hangover, Shay was the one who made excuses that probably made Pierce drink one too many glasses of bourbon. Some things she couldn't excuse, like vandalized cars. But she had done her best to be a sister, the best one she could given her own temperaments. But all of it seemed to be thrown back in her face, and for what? Because Lex ran out of lies and excuses? "I used to feel bad. I fucked up a lot when I was younger, I can admit that. The parties, the drinking, the sex, anything I could get by with in order to feel anything but vulnerable...it was the worst point of my life. But I felt bad because you started mimicking me and I hated it 'cause it was the last thing I wanted. But fuck you for throwing it in my face and fuck you and your damn excuses."

Shay was too heated to allow anyone to interject and she ignored the sympathetic look on Colette's face. She knew, better than anyone, how much the designer wanted a stress free summer and she would make it up to her. Just not at the moment. No, at the moment, she was focused on Alexandra Collins. "You wanna be mad, be mad. But the only person your ass has to blame is yourself. You know what I never did? Destroyed a car! Know what else? Never slept with someone who was too drunk to know the difference between me and a blow up doll. And for all the shit I did, you know what I did that you apparently couldn't? I grew up. Three point eight GPA, thank you very much, and you know what I'm not doing? Mooching off my parents like a spoiled, deranged brat and blaming everyone around me for the fuck up that I am." She didn't care about tears, she didn't care about Lex's feelings. Because last night had left her feeling too raw; both Owen and Lex had attacked her last night, and Shay had made a vow to enjoy her summer. With or without them. So, she turned her back to Colette and Lex, staring at Owen. She hadn't wanted to speak with him so soon after their argument, and she was still upset about last night despite what she had told him. "Don't ruin Pierce's summer any more than all of this already has. If that brat wants to leave, she knows where the fucking door is and where her mama lives. That's the only person that wants her at this point, anyway." Not caring for whatever else her brother had to say, Shay stormed back to her side of the pool and to the chair her stuff was at. "Shay!" Colette called, a bit...well, taken aback. Did she really just walk away and not hit Alexa?

Tinashé only ignored her, plopped into her chair, and pulled her phone to her. She didn't want to deal with Colette's probing eyes, whatever Owen had to say, and damn sure Alexandra Collins at the moment. All she wanted was some fun, planning for the party tomorrow, and spending time with Carson. She knew he would feel uncomfortable with the idea of returning, especially so soon after his riff with Owen. But she didn't care about Owen's feelings. She didn't care about how uncomfortable Alexa might be at the thought of Shay and Carson. She just wanted him there and she wanted her other best friend to distract her.
