Rosalie 'Dolly' Devlin
Sulking Rose crawled to her seat and flopped into it bitterly. She was glad to be in the far back courner because then she could get away with a bit more and it was just cool to be at the back anyway. She looked at the people infront of her with bored diamond blue eyes. She looked at the teacher twirling her dead straight blonde hair on her index finger boredly.

She looked at Cicley who had sat on the desk to her left and whispered quietly. "If she asks me a question shoot me." Cicley laughed a little but Rose almost looked dead serious.

Rose was terrible at Maths but most teachers used this as an excuse to pick on her and ask her questions with numbers in. Rose could count and do simple calculations and simple percentages and fractions but as soon as you start throwing letters and weird symbols into it she loses it entirely.

Turning back to the front Rose took her time pulling out her red excercise book and pencil case, all her movements were dramatically slow and she was clearly stalling but no one seemed to notice or care so she carried on and spent about ten mintues simply organising her pencils in a rainbow order and then in order of height. Cicley laughed lightly as she whizzed through any sum sent her way like some sort of human calculator.

Rose groaned and looked back at her row of pencils and gave them angry push back into her pencil case and stared at the board trying to make sense of how 'x' could be multiplied by 'y' when she didn't even know what 'y' was. She appeared to be biting the inside of her cheek when she finally wrote something down in her little red book.

Galen sat through the class, taking a few notes o things that confused him. When the teacher finished lecturing and told them their homework, he slowly worked through the problems. he was sure a lot of them were wrong, but he did not care. Glancing out the window next to him, he watched the sky for a few moments, allowing himself to get distracted. He was not sure how long he was staring, but eventually, he looked back down to his paper and sighed. He wished he could read right now.

He was at a climatic moment when Odysseus and Diomedes sneak into enemy lines at night and slaughter the Thracians. Galen wanted to know how they escape, and desperately needed to keep reading. Staring at his paper, he started tapping his pencil on his desk impatiently, wanting to get out of this blasted class already. Why did he have to start the day with Math?

Before Emma could begin talking again, the teacher commanded everyone's attention. Emma sat down in her seat again and turned to face her. According to her we were supposed to keep these thoughts in our minds as we took a minute to all read a few chapters of a book that explored a character we all could "relate too." Some tall, older jocks in the back of the room groaned and the teacher snapped back, saying if anyone talked they'd need to read out loud. Students rolled their eyes at each other. Great way to start the year, way to get the students interested. The students collected some books and sat down at their desks in silence. Emma held the book in front of her and fiddled with her gymnastics bracelets, thinking of how to prepare for tryouts.

Evan held his books at his side as he walked out of his private teaching session. On mornings with a schedule like today's, he spends half of first period with a math tutor and the rest doing independent work in the Math room. Last year he spent that independent time in the library, but in Summertown, the teachers like to hold your hand. Evan didn't understand it, but for some people it worked. Teachers raised crazy expectations for them, then babied the students to make sure no one would slip up. No wonder everyone was trying to go so above and beyond they cracked under pressure. Evan opened the door to the math room where he recognized a few familiar faces, including Rose. He helped himself to the desk near the front and opened up a text book. The teacher excused herself leaving the students alone.

Rosalie 'Dolly' Devlin
Rosalie groaned a little this couldn't get much worse. As the teacher excused herself Rose looked for someone to talk to but there wasn't really anyone around. There were plenty of familiar faces like the guy she spoke to earlier - Evan and there was the person who rolled his eyes at her when she walked in...she didn't know his name but she was pretty she'd seen him around school at some point.

"This sucks." She moaned to herself not really looking for a reaction. Cicley had tried to teach herself but just being around friends make Rose giggly so it didn't work at all. This teacher wasn't help her at all no matter how many times she was kept back she would never know why 'y' isn't a number.

She'd seen jokes about Algebra before like;
Algebra stop asking us to find your x she's never coming back and we don't know y
Or even nerdier ones that involve pi or other stupid symbols that if she could Rosalie would delete from the world's knowledge never to torture her again.

She told herself to stop being so dramatic and she looked at the other kids. Most had burst into instant chatter when the Teacher left but who's to talk to when half your friends have graduated? Last year Rose buddied up with a group of older kids and now they'd mved on she was a little stuck. She had Cicley but one can't live off one friend, what if they felt out?

As soon as the teacher left, Galen did not even hesitate to pull out his boo. He was eager to finish and get on to the Odyssey. After that he would read his favorite translation of Beowulf. He continued to list the books he would read while simultaneously reading his current one.

He planned on being a literature teacher, and wanted to get a degree from Stanford. Unfortunately, than meant getting grades higher than just passing in all his subjects. Including Math. But he would worry about that later. Now it was time for the Great Odysseus to conquer Troy. He probably looked antisocial sitting there, cramming his nose into the book, but it was easier for him to connect to the people on the pages than in real life. They were far more real to him, than the drama filled residents of high school life.

Reálie 'Dolly' Devlin
Rose least up from her desk ať the sound of the bell and tripped up on think air thing so hard to get way. She caught heself and tried to stop anone from noticing her slíp. She composed herself and marce out the room as fast as She found safe.

Her blonde waterfall flicked and swayed freely until her silhouette stopped firmly outside the classroom. The walls had too many posters of.times tables on and the boards too many colours. She hated it when there was too much of bright colour without a 'breaking colour' it was a term she used basically to describe a backing colour or base.

She listened to the sounds of high school disregarding everything really. She looked at some kids but none of.them looked fun or interesting so she waited silently for her friend.

Evan packed up his things and ducked out of the class without hesitation. When he had made his way over to his locker he pulled it open, dropped off his stuff and made his way down to the cafeteria. On his way he was greeted by an old friend, Gerard, and after making some boring small talk, he continued down the hall with him until they were in the enormous and somewhat empty cafeteria. The lunch period had just started and most students were in no rush to be where they were supposed to be. Evan grabbed a bland, small lunch and sat down with Gerard at a table with a few other faces. Even laughed when they laughed, and didn't when they didn't. His mind was somewhere else.

Emma stood up and gathered together her stuff with a yawn. Emma would normally leap out of the room and to the cafe as quick as she could, to avoid being caught alone, but she wasn't in the mood today.
"Hey, where're you going?" Emma turned to Erica and asked, taking the risk of being told by another person that "they were busy."

Erica turned to Emmalee "Hey, where're you going?" Erica smiled. "I usually go to the mall or that cafe I just stumbled upon today! Where are you going?" Usually Erica really wasn't interested in socializing or school. She liked shopping and boys like most teenage girls. And what exactly was wrong with that? Erica adored watching the boys fawn over her and always being able to buy whatever she wanted. She was just a teenager.

Zeke E. Edgar

Class has seemed to pass so fast, Zeke was lost in his own thoughts that he barely seen the time pass by, he heard the bell ring and immediately got up and walked out of the classroom. Although, he didn't know where he was going, he just stood in the middle of the hallway watching all of the teenagers pass him, all having a place to go or something to do.
Zeke was clueless. Should I just... Leave? Sit outside? I don't belong anywhere...
He looked up and seen a teenage girl he recognized, Emmalee... Was her name. She was with a girl named Erica.
He didn't know either of them, but he thought that he should go and greet them.

He shyly walked over to them and introduced himself, "Hello, I am Zeke. I am new here and to be honest... I don't know what I am suppose to be doing. Can you girls help me out?" Zeke said kindly, he wouldn't be surprised if they walked away and ignored him. He was an odd one but all he wanted to do was make a few friends, or atleast belonged.
