a character in “Super What?”, as played by mistmantle

Description

Character Profile
Name: Riley Grant

Age: 16

Gender: Female

Appearance: Image

(This is what I wanted her to look like, I just tried to find a real life picture of what she may look like, so just combine them together) Riley has big brown eyes and light brown hair to match. She is a bit lanky. She's 5'7" and often wears tee shirts and shorts. She has a slight twitch in her left hand from the shock of being put in a detention center, so she usually keeps it in her pocket. She wears a black leather belt that holds her two daggers.

Disruption: She walked through a wall out of her foster home to escape from having "replacement" parents. After a car passed straight through her, the people freaked and called the cops.

Power: Intangibility, but it is dictated by her emotions. For example, if she is too focused on hating humans, she could accidentally loose control and fall through the ground, getting stuck waist deep in concrete. Unlike people with density manipulation, she can only control her body's tangibility, not other object's/people's tangibility.

Strengths: Riley is brave, smart, and loyal to her kind. She totally believes in "If there's a will, there's a way" and says it often. (But, forgiving the human race is the exception, because she believes they are unchangeable.) She is an amazing fighter and carries two small daggers in a belt she often wears. She has extremely good aim with her knifes when throwing them, but her left is always a bit off.

Weakness: Besides her shaky hand, which is an annoying factor to her and sometimes hinders her ability to fight, she isn't the most fit. Although she in quite thin, she isn't the strongest or fastest person she knows, but when she has to, she can be ok at these things. She is terrified of Titanium Alloy, which is the one strong metal she can't pass through and was what she was kept in at the detention center. Her hatred for humans also gets her into trouble.

Personality: Riley is VERY smart, although she doesn't show it because she doesn't want to seem like a nerd. Riley is very secluded... she is Not a people person. She wasn't always like this, since she was extremely perky as a child. She is a bit more perky around boys, since she never knew her father nor had a brother and since she is a tomboy, can sometimes relate to them better. She hates girly things and doesn't wear makeup because of the whole "The world should accept us for who we are" mindset that she has. She is very bitter towards humans and shows them no mercy, claiming they did the same to her mother. Although she is cruel and evil toward humans, she is kind to her fellow superhumans. She wouldn't hurt them unless she thinks they took the side of the humans and are against her. Riley wishes to rid the world of humans or put them in their place.
Riley is tough and when she is injured, she takes it strongly, thinking tears are weak. She doesn't have much sympathy for anyone, including herself, although she is a bit more gracious toward her kind. The only humans she seems to "like" are orphans, because she relates to their suffering. She loves music and often has an iPod at hand so she can listen to her favorite "Tunes" as she calls them. She isn't truly evil inside, but has way too much hate bottled up inside.

Likes: Riley likes music, food (Hehe... I do too) and being by herself.

Dislikes: Besides hating humans, Riley dislikes the authorities and the government even more. She also hates orphanages. She is easily frightened and dislikes scary movies, haunted houses, graveyards, etc...

Bio: Riley was the sweetest, kindest child you can picture in your head. She adored her mother and the absence of a father never got her down. She made many friends in her preschool and never complained. At the age of three, she slammed her finger in a car door but didn't let out a single cry. When her mother rushed over, she found that her daughter's tangibility had left her body, only to return about five minutes later. Her mother immediately took her out of school and home schooled her to keep her secret safe. No one in their family had ever been superhuman, so why Riley was one was a mystery. Her mother was kind about it and treated her like any normal kid. She had no extra expectations for Riley because of her power. Riley was still a friendly kid.... Until the day her mother went to go get groceries. She was thirteen and so she was just watching TV when she got the call that her mother had been murdered by two teenage boys that she had confronted about stealing a video game in the store. When she was at their trial, she didn't think to blame humans. She thought that only a few of them were like this... But since she really didn't have any family, she was given to horrible foster parents who had three other kids and didn't even care about her. She was last to do everything. One day, when her foster "father" was scolding her, she had enough and walked through the wall. When running away, she wasn't paying attention to a car speeding down the street and it went straight through her. People freaked out and called to cops, where she was taken into custody by the police. As she was detained, she heard horrible names called out to her by the people being held back by officers. She was angry at the world. But, instead of taking her back to her foster home, they took her to the detention center where she was held in a cell of Titanium Alloy and tortured to find the information about other mutant people in the country, which she never gave up, mainly because she didn't have any information. In her dark cell, she decided she would wipe out the human race if that was what it would take to get rid of monsters like the ones she had met in her life. She decided that she believed superhumans were superior and if the world didn't bow to them, they would end up dead. This mindset took her through the unbreakable Titanium Alloy floor and allowed her to escape.

Other: She's a closet comic book reader.

Sage couldn't help but chuckle as he watched Arian with the illusion. "Arian... I figured... you'd like it." His voice was unusually warm, but after befriending someone, Sage's cold exterior washed away. It might have taken a while, but it did. He'd gratefully take the noodles and eat them before noticing the bag on the floor. Nodding he would make a mental note to grab his clothes from the bathroom later. He examined his leather jacket curiously. It seemed to fit him, and it felt comfortable enough to wear. He was glad these guys seemed to know how to shop... that was... the owners of the house.

"I won't go around telling my powers or weaknesses...but... my name is Sage." He'd state clearly. He had personal reasons for not saying powers or weaknesses. What if someone was to turn on them and use their weaknesses to advantages? No... that could wait until later, when he would trust. Motioning around the room he'd give a wide smirk. "If this is a party... then I'm out." Of course he meant nothing by it, but hey... it was better than that cell.

"I'm 20 years old... and my name is Sage like I stated before. Before anyone gets the wrong Idea about me, I'll tell you flat out, I'm an ass..." He'd chuckle casually. He felt like he was in first grade when they had to go around the room and say things like this around them. "I like beautiful women...so ladies...take your tops on." His smirk would get wider, "Obviously I'm a male," Pausing he'd lift up his shirt all cocky like. "Keep your pants dry..." He'd add on as he lowered his grey and black stripped tank. Finishing his noodles he'd roll his shoulders. "Of course... like any of you I hate the government, and people who turn their backs on people." Finishing his speech, he'd look around for some booze and find a nice bottle of whiskey. "Don't mind if I do." He'd say to himself as he opened it and inhaled the fumes from it.

He'd put the bottle to his mouth and start drinking. Out of the corner of his eye He saw Sonya and chuckled putting the bottle down he'd cross his arms and give her a cocky little 'I notice you' kind of wave.

He'd pick the bottle back up and start drinking once more. Ah... the taste of good Whiskey.... nothing like it. He'd think to himself happily as his body started warming up a bit more.

Erin ignored the boy's near-nakedness with a scoff and pushed herself inside to shower. The water was wonderfully warm, but every few seconds, she turned it down, suddenly feeling a bit too heated. The whole situation wasn't exactly great on the nerves. Stuck with a bunch of shy morons it seemed, or snarky males. She knew she shouldn't be so quick to judge, but at the same time, she didn't feel any safer with this group than she would be alone.

She dressed and ran her fingers through her long hair, wondering if putting it up would be safer for them since her hair did draw attention. She eventually did pull it up in a loose bun at the nape of her neck and since her hair was still wet, it was darker. For a bit, she would blend better.

Finding everyone downstairs in a strange gathered circle and looking so much more like a regular group of teens, Erin paused to listen, frowning at the display Kleo made with Sage's body. Remaining on the stairs to watch, Erin sat down and rolled her eyes. Introductions -- like the first day of class. She wasn't into it. After only a minute, she ducked into the kitchen.

Finding a cloth tote bag meant for groceries, Erin began grabbing supplies. She had seen other bags with the group and figured a few others had had some intelligence to grab essentials. At least food. Erin took a can opener, a knife with a sharpener which thankfully had a sleeve, some utensils, soap, and moving back to the stairs to search the bathroom and bedrooms, she heard more introductions which she forgot almost immediately.

Female products, two towels tucked under her arm, some change, a roll of pink ribbon, hair ties, a belt, a tie...Erin found another backpack too. Well, more of a duffel bag she supposed. It looked military. Perhaps the father had been a soldier.

Hopping back down to the group, Erin walked through them to the where she supposed the back door was. Indeed, she was right. And along the wall, a door to the garage. Here she found tools and rope. Wonderful. Erin greedily filled the duffel with bungee cords, some twine, a hammer, nails, a canteen that hadn't seen daylight for years it seemed, and a small hatchet. She wasn't keen on weapons, but couldn't rule out that they may need to fight. Otherwise, it was good for perhaps cutting down wood if they decided to stay outdoors and needed warmth and a fire to cook with.

When she returned to the group, she dropped the duffel down hard. It was heavy and she glanced over to the closest young man, Sage, she thought his name was. "You can carry that, yeah?" she asked, pointing down to it.

Sage was hesitant as Sonya approached him. He'd cross his arms before looking at Arian once more. "Arian..." Sage would say in a warning tone, praying that the boy didn't loose his temper in front of everyone. He knew how bad Arian could could be with the Shadow Manipulation. Though before he could do anything else, he'd look down at Sonya and give a weak smirk. "I'll be back... if you need me... you'll know where to find me." He'd murmur to the boy, careful around him in his state. The last thing they needed was the Shadow Manipulator loosing control. Looking down at Sonya he'd give her a cheesy smile. Trying not to check her out, though he'd scrunch up his nose, showing a side of Sage only Arian would've ever seen. "Er... not around here..." He'd mutter pointing to the stairwell. "If you don't mind, I'd prefer this be a private encounter."

He'd push himself off the wall and start walking back down the stairs to the master bedroom. As soon as he got in the room he'd remove his leather jacket, and take off his shirt. throwing it on the bed. Suddenly he couldn't help but start talking, "Now... this may look wrong...unless you want it to look right." He'd say with a wild smirk his back facing the door, where visible was a deep gash from his upper right shoulder down to his lower left hip. Along his back would be silvery scars from various cuts and burns, few bruises were shown as well Though on his left shoulder there was a tattoo, Sage never told anyone about. Taking a deep breath he'd finish, "But.. you see... me and this agent kind of got into a fight... and well... yeah." He'd turn around and give a smirk, showing off his muscular form. How he managed to keep his shape in while being in C-Class? He didn't know but hey, he liked it, it made him more cocky and arrogant. Crossing his arms he'd smirk, "So miss healer, think you can handle me?" He'd give a flirty wink, as he stood there, half naked and all.

Sage's remark was completely unwarranted. Erin's free hand balled up, heating and turning pink, but she managed to drag the duffel bag across the room, toss it out the front door, slip on her shoes and march out of the house with a few huffs of annoyance to calm herself down. She parked herself at the end of the driveway and sat down crossed legged, covering her face. The heat spread along her cheeks, but she breathed in and out, in and out, trying not to repeat the absurd comments she could still hear pouring from the front door.

Bunch of teenagers...

Erin considered leaving, her eyes on the road and stretching out toward the city. She could. No fake ID's or this leaving the country business. She would figure it out, she knew she would. She could survive in the wilderness, well mostly, and was confident that she would do just fine without having other hormones around her spouting stupidity that would only cause her to flame-up.

Voices neared and she saw the two Asians, a girl and another boy. The one from the bathroom.

They had their own drama, but it was the kind that was leading to the New York City. Erin knew that any other plan would fall to ruin. In the wilderness you couldn't hide as well as in the skyscraper jungles of a hectic city. And leaving the country? Hello cameras and security.

Erin swallowed down a bit of pride and stood back up, marching over to the smaller group. She even cracked a grin, though false, at Jay as he finished his bit. "Couldn't agree more. We headin' out then?"

She pulled the duffel over her shoulder, then decided against it. After rearranging some items, she kept the smaller bag which was nearly empty with a sigh. If they made it to the city, then she would find better stuff, more useful city stuff. She had only taken these things on impulse, an adrenaline rush that told her to survive.

That figured out, she stood up tall and straight, still rather short, but calm enough that she wasn't on fire. That was always the goal.

"I'm kinda leaning toward leaving this lot," she added, nodding to the house and the rest inside.
