Appearance;

ImageImage

Nathan stands at an average six foot nine with a very simple lean build that has a surprising amount of strength to it despite his pale white skin, gaunt face and dark bags under his eyes that give him the appearance of an insomniac that doesn't go outside very often. His eyes are a deep blue grey with tinges of silver decorating the rim that appear to shimmer and are almost reflective when in the right lighting. His features are clean and chiseled with very few flaws though his complexion is marred by three obvious beauty marks; one centered on his right jaw, one on the right side of his chin at the very tip and the last on his left cheek near the corner of his mouth. His hair is pale blonde with a few odd streaks of brunette dipped in that he keeps straight and long with a bit of mess to it that he keeps shoulder length. He usually doesn't do much with it or try to tidy it up though he's been known to put it in a ponytail from time to time. His wardrobe is usually dark, made up of a lot of black, grey and blue fabrics with his usual outfit consisting of a heavy jacket or coat, a simple shirt underneath, faded jeans and plain loafers. He usually adds a pair of dark shaded sunglasses when he goes out during the day.

Personality;

The short and sweet word to explain Nathan is distant. He makes it a habit to keep quite a bit of physical distance between himself and the outside world, never going so far as to isolate himself completely from humanity but enough to make him a stranger to anyone he meets. He also keeps himself at arm's length emotionally, never showing any emotions in public that give away his true feelings. He does his best to keep necessary conversations to a minimum and absolutely goes out of his way to avoid small talk. This is mostly due to the fact that his expression -does- match how he's feeling: bored. The world has become so incredibly dull for him that he doesn't bother making the extra effort it takes for people to think otherwise. He has an extremely blunt and somewhat morbid view of the world as he takes everything for face value and sees flaw behind much of modern society and it's people.

His one saving grace, the little shred of humanity he's managed to save for himself over the years lies in one person: his mate Gemma. He feels that she is the only person he can ever truly be himself around as he easily lets his guard down whenever he's around her. The blank stare and somber routine are replaced by a very subtle display of emotions such as small smiles and cheeky laughs when he's being playful. He's still very quiet, speaking in an only slightly raised voice than normal, and he much prefers listening to speaking though he has no problem keeping up a conversation with his mate if that is what she wants. He does almost anything that she asks him to do within reason, his one exception is his refusal to go detail into the world of vampires, and he does whatever he can to keep her happy and comfortable. While an improvement, he's still somewhat emotionally numb and so he never shows emotions to an extreme; he doesn't become happy enough to reach that level of uncontrolled giddiness nor does he ever become needlessly violent when angered. He's more than content with his current life and he wants to keep it that way.

Likes;

+ Cold Weather - He never seems bothered by the frigid cold or heavy winds of winter, allowing him to just enjoy the crisp air and the gentle falling of snow.
+ Sweets - An old guilty pleasure, chocolates and candies are a favorite of his that he likes to slowly savor from time to time. His favorite is toffee.
+ Coffee - Despite the bitter taste, he enjoys it enough to have at least one cup a day. His custom order includes two packets of sugar, a drizzle of honey and a hint of mint.
+ Reading - He's had a lot of time to skim over quite a few books in his life and he finds nothing to be more satisfying than finding a good one to read from cover to cover.
+ Cats - While he's not an avid lover of animals, cats are his one soft spot as they're one of the few creatures that find him approachable. Some even seem attracted to him.
+ Listening - Being a man of few words, it gives him great satisfaction to find someone willing to speak to him with something worthwhile to hear. He rarely has any output when spoken to with one exclusion.
+ His Love - He sees his Gemma as a living, breathing miracle as she is the only person he can open up to and be himself around without worry or even effort.

Dislikes;

- Hot Weather - If the pale complexion didn't give it away, Nathan and regular contact with sunlight aren't the best of friends.
- Hospitals - The disgusting stench of over cleaned equipment paired with being surrounded by the sick and dying makes hospitals uncomfortable for him.
- Bigots - Nathan can respect other people's opinions just fine. It's when they become verbal and uppity about it that it really gets on his nerves. Opinionated people fall right into this category.
- White Noise - While he enjoys listening, pointless noise is just a headache waiting to happen. Running water is his one exception.
- Modern Movies - While there are a few gems from time to time, he absolutely hates a majority of modern picture shows. The action genre is the worst.

Hobbies;

~ Writing - While he's no master of the written word, he's managed to write a few good novels over the years that have gotten some notice. His specialty is horror romances. Yes, he sees the irony in it.
~ Drawing - He's a great sketcher, able to whip up detailed portraits and scenes in mere minutes.
~ Saxophone - A passion he discovered when the golden age of jazz was in full swing, he's an expert with the sax and he's willing to play private concerts for his mate anytime thought he's not entirely convinced whether she likes it or not.
~ Fencing - An art he learned way back when in England, he's quite the expert when it comes to swordplay. He doesn't do it too often as he finds the average human isn't in his league.
~ Cooking - While he doesn't partake in his own creations very often, he enjoys feeding others and seeing them enjoy his work. His specialty is Italian.

History

In the fall of 1845, a little baby boy was born to Alexander and Elizabeth Walker in the small coastal town of Dawlish, England. He grew up living a simple middle class life with his father being a local fisherman while his mother home schooled him and his three siblings: Samantha, two years his senior, Samuel, three years his senior, and Theodore, two years his junior. Their lives were simple and easy with little to nothing in the way of excitement or tragedy as the three grew up, the sons learning their father's trade while Sam was taught how to be a lady despite how tomboyish behavior. Life was very boring until the summer of 1863 when a mysterious young woman game to town.

Her name was Grace and Nathan was smitten with her the moment he laid eyes on her otherworldly beauty. She had long flowing raven hair, eyes of the deepest blue, rose red lips and skin as pale and flawless as a porcelain doll. She was also quite mysterious, appearing to be no older than Nathan but arriving in town by herself with little description of where she'd come from aside from 'someplace up north'. He spoke to her and made fast friends with her as she took a surprising interest in him very quickly. They often sat by the docks and talked of how they wanted to travel the world, see what it was like with their own two eyes. Over the course of a year, they'd become secrets lovers with Nathan sneaking out every night to see her. It was a fair bit of excitement in his young life but what happened next would rock his entire world.

It was a brutal winter in '64 and despite a vicious snowstorm, Nathan had trudged through it to get to his darling's home. He entered through the window as usual and was surprised to see her in a rough state as she stared at the floor with her hands shaking violently. He went to comfort her and found her arms wrapped around him in a literal flash as she suddenly embraced him much rougher than usual. She whispered a frantic apology before a sudden pain shot down his neck before everything went black. When he awoke, he felt different. Wrong. It didn't take long for him to realize something was wrong with him. His skin was pale and cold to the touch and he felt his canines begin to extend and retract as strange cravings began to overcome him and, worst yet, his dear Grace was gone. Worried he'd been struck by some outlandish curse, he left town without a word to his family. A wise move as he ended the night by claiming the life of a stranger on the road.

Life was difficult for a time. A mixture of pleas to higher powers and attempted suicides scattered the first year alone. Attempts to shut himself away from humanity followed for a few years after. It wasn't until his thirteenth year that he got any answers. He traveled to Poland and found a rather bizarre troupe of performers who approached him and began making strange small talk. They eventually led him to a dark alley and began questioning him about what he was. When it became obvious he wasn't entirely sure himself, they gave him the rather ugly truth that he was a vampire as they were. They offered an invite to their little traveling show and he only too happily accepted it. Everything inbetween is something of a blur.

Nathan wandered for many, many years as he searched the world for meaning of his life and understanding of what he had become. He set off far into the east, stopping in Italy for a number of years before making his way through Russia, down into China and across the waters to Japan before going south to Australia and then to the various ocean side countries to the west. It was sixteen years ago when he decided to make his first trip to America and finding very little of interest in it's 'melting pot' cities full of discrimination and it's bizarre lingo and culture stolen from so many other nations. He'd practically become more of a shell than a man, wandering aimlessly for something he couldn't quite understand. He eventually found what he was looking for in the form of a young waitress in a small town.

He wandered into Colorado town with little interest, only stopping in the little cafe he found to give himself a break before passing on through. When he laid eyes on Gemma for the first time, it was like the world slowed down just for the two of them. She took his order, brought it up to him and began making small talk and for the first time in ages, he had something to say in return. He decided to stay in town one more day, going back the next afternoon and ordering another coffee with the same pretty girl bringing it and talking to him again. One more day is what he kept promising himself for the first week he stayed there. That thought was long dead by the end of the third month. She was such a bright vibrant creature that he just couldn't pull himself away from no matter how hard he tried. So eventually he gave up. They began dating after a time and he eventually let it slip as to what he was. She took it surprisingly well which simply led to him loving her even more deeply. She eventually became a beacon to him, the one bright light in the storm of his life. To this day he's closer than ever to her as he supports her drive to become a model whenever he's not reading one of her poems or cuddling with her on the couch. Despite all of this, he keeps specific information on what he is a secret as he's become paranoid that she might become curious about it after all these years.

So begins...

Nathan hated the daytime. Even when he was alive, he spent much of his time under the stars as he and his siblings tried as hard as they might to count every single speck in the black ocean in the sky. After the change, simply being outside during daylight hours was rather bothersome to say the least. Being a vampire, you'd think that the penalty for coming out of the shadows would be spontaneous combustion or some drain on his unholy power. Truth be told, the biggest problem to be found was headaches. Nocturnal by nature, vampiric eyes absorbed light and used it to see in pitch black like cats do. Give off too much and you go half blind. A good flashlight could do the job and the big ball of fire in the sky was a bit stronger then that. So why, with all the discomfort and disconnection from this world of light and sound, bother going out during the day at all? Two words came to Nathan's mind: Gemma Lockheart. It was all the motivation he needed.

Nathan watched two middle aged women pass him on the sidewalk, giving him funny looks over their shoulders and whispering behind their hands once they thought they thought he was out of earshot. They weren't by a long shot but he didn't bother to stop and listen to whatever theories they had in mind for this week. 'Gossip mongers,' he though bitterly as he shook his head and kept going on his way. In all honesty, he could hardly blame them for being suspicious. Walking around in a black trench coat and sunglasses in the middle of a rather warm day usually meant one of those things: you were a little to into the world of film noir or you made a habit of doing very illegal things to little Timmy. It was better that people kept their dirty thoughts and half witted conspiracies than to know the truth of the whole world right underneath their feet. The shock alone could easily panic a few world leaders, alliances would be made and before you know it it's goodbye normal little world, hello nuclear wasteland.

He sighed as he continued making his way down the familiar old street he had grown use to, adjusting his glasses as he kept down the well worn route he'd drilled into his brain over the past four years. Two blocks north, three blocks east, turn right at the bakery and there you were at the Warm Delights. In all his time in Dillon, he'd almost never had a day where he didn't visit when she Gemma was on the job. At first is had been just looking for a reason to talk to her but once she was already his, he simply found it too difficult to wait for her to finish up and go home. With how much time he ended up prying from her while she was on the clock, the least he could do was tipped generously and try to get along with all the other employees. He began to wonder if Betty would run him off today for leaving her employee in such poor condition. She refused to leave to get a good night's rest when she had already come out so late and by the time the sun began to rise, she was out cold. He carried her home and tucked her in, stealing a quick kiss before slipping out. There was no doubt she would only be half there for most of the day and he could only hope her manager went easy on her and wasn't in the mood to chuck coffee mugs at his head today.

A light vibration suddenly ran up Nathan's arm from the tips of his finger as a cheery little tune came out of his jacket pocket. He gripped his hand around his tiny little black cellphone and pulled it out, cutting the next ring halfway as he swiped his thumb over the screen to unlock it and reveal three little words that popped up on screen.

I miss you.
From: Gem

A small smile crossed his lips as he read the simple text, his path idly going right through a red light that he was utterly oblivious to. A woman in a black van honked at him and began yelling from the other side of the thick glass which quickly got his attention as he power walked the rest of the way. Once he was on the other side, he gave an apologetic wave to the angry soccer mom before he turned his head to the right and spotted the little red sign dangling just above the door he was looking for. He looked down at his phone and hit the reply button before typing three quick words, a sly smirk apparent on his face as he hit the send button.

To: Gem
Not for long.

He quickly snapped the phone shut and walked to the little wood framed door, pushing it open and causing the bell that hung above the entrance to chime. He was hit with a familiar wave of smell and sound upon entering as coffee makers gave off rich scents as the many group of people present spoke to one another, filling the air with a slight buzz. Nathan made his way towards the darkest corner in the place, pushing through a few college students who gave him polite nods as he passed. A number of regulars to the Delights knew all about the waitress girl and her mysterious boyfriend who visited daily. When the news first became public, it was something of a scandal. He was obviously not in college while she was so everyone jumped to the conclusion that he was older than he looked. Many false rumors buzzed around for a few months but it died down after a while. A big part of it was Nathan's somber disposition. The man who refused to smile for anyone but his darling Gem. Someone like that has to have a lot of skeletons in the closet that are best left untouched. If they only knew how right they were.

Nathan eventually found his way to the little black table for two in the corner and after spotting that it was unoccupied, he slid into the seat that kept his back to the wall and folded his arms in front of him on the counter, scanning the crowd for the bright red hair of the girl he hoping expected him by now.

Nathan tapped his fingers in a quick little rhythm as minutes began to tick on by. It was to be expected. This time of day drew in a lot of customers and Betty probably had poor Gem tied down to keep everything going smoothly but they couldn't ignore a customer that needed service for long and as if sent from heaven, she appeared from the folds of the crowd. His precious Gem, looking so radiant and flawless that the lights in the room looked duller by comparison. And all while wearing an apron and looking only half awake. Of course it was to be expected of her. She was his flawless Gem. Anything less than perfect from her was impossible. She came over the table with two coffees and a cinnamon bun, sliding one over to him before greeting him and saying it was his favorite which it was. Every day for the last four years he had gotten the same exact coffee from the exact same girl to the point that it was practically a menu item.

"You're absolutely right," he said as he leaned forward across the table, his right hand sliding past the coffee that was placed in front of him. "You brought me exactly what I wanted," said in barely a whisper as he placed his hands on top of hers, a sly grin spreading across his lips. The warmth that she gave off felt like sparks on his skin as an overwhelming feeling of joy began welling up in his chest. The same wonderful sensation that occurred when he was around her and felt tragically lost every time they had to part, no matter how short or long it was. "My absolute favorite," he said with sweetly he gently lifted her hand off the tabletop and brought it up to his face, gently caressing her knuckles with his lips. The sparks on his skin practically exploded at the simple touch as he put her hand back down, fingers still curled around hers as he gave them a soft squeeze.

Just watching her gave it's own small joy as she batted her eyelashes at him, causing a kind hearted chuckle to rise out of his chest. "Absolutely adorable," he cooed before an odd sensation crawled up the back of his neck as if someone was watching him. He scrunched up his brow as he tilted his head to the side to get a good look at the front counter. Sure enough, there was Betty standing there and looking right back at him with a rather stern expression on her face. He quickly ducked his head back and stared back into Gemma's eyes. "So, do you think good ol' Betty plans on killing me right when your break is over or do you think she'll make me sweat over it for a few more hours?" he asked jokingly as he squeezed her hand gently. While never directly vocal about it to him, it was obvious that the cafe's manager wasn't a fan of him constantly stealing away one of her best employees at least once a day, especially when it was a coffee rush hour.

Of course, Gemma could only smile brightly when Nathan took his drink closer to him and then slid his hand over her own. Of course, the feeling of her warm plush flesh clashing into his icy cold skin made her feel zings travel in her body, and goosebumps started to rampage her arm and part of her left torso as her feet pointed inward slightly with glee. He always managed to charm her, especially when he would kiss parts of her that isn't just her lips, and as he pushed his lips into her hand, she smiled even more and blushed brightly as her blue eyes glittered towards him with excitement. She just felt... like the luckiest girl in the world. She continued to stare at him, tilting her head and observing such perfect features, such a handsome and lovely face that she... could stare at for... for so long. ... But not forever.

She frowned a bit, pursing her lips slightly but then she quickly smiled again at him, before looking him glance past her and his face go nervous. She turned as well, noticing Betty looking at them both sternly and then look away as soon as Gemma glanced over at her. Betty was like a second mother to Gemma; and always had a thing against Nathan, simply because he was a boy, and of course because it distracted Gemma from her shift. She glanced at her watch; 5 more minutes. That just wasn't enough... She sighed sadly as she squeezed his hand tightly, smiling at him as he made the funny comment. "I'm sure she'll let you walk out with just a few bruises. Nothing serious." she said, winking playfully as her feet wrapped around his lovingly and she then bit into the cinnamon bun hungrily with her one hand holding it, chomping down. Nathan never seemed to mind her eating habits. Gemma adored food, and right now, she was just starving.

"So, I think the gang is having a bomb fire tonight. If you wanna go? I mean, that's what William told me last night. Said it would be in the woods past Sonya's house. I think he said around 7." she said, tilting her head slightly at him as she tucked some hair behind her right ear and stared at him with a calm and content look, and a warm cheerful smile that gleamed with white, average straight teeth. She just adored staring at him, and she knew he didn't mind. How could she not stare at perfection?

Sonya Chang

Sonya crossed her legs as she sat on the counter. And, was smiling as she heard him say how he never listened to his messages. Which could be good or bad, but it's not like she poured her heart and soul into a phonce message when she could say it straight to his face. And when he said that he would love to have lunch with her couldn't help but crack an even bigger smile. "I think... Yeah. Lunch sounds perfect. Though, any time spent with you is just about perfect." She giggled. Perfect, how she loved that word. I made her feel.... Happy especailly when Will used it to discibe her or their relationship. Did he write these things down or did all that writing just make him so romantic. "Aw, baby. I would hope it would be at least decent." She messed with her nimble but painted fingernails as she heard Will respond to her asking if he wanted to spend the night. "Sonya... I just... I don't think it's entirely-" Hearing him sigh and he knew he didn't want to but that he didn't eant her to be disappointed. "I'd love to. You know I'd love to. I just don't think we should." He had good reasons to not want to. For her, one thing might lead to another and her brother would kill Will if he found out. Why Will didn't want to, she had no clue. Did guys want to be able to sleep with girls? Then again, he wasn't just a "normal" guy. He was.... better.

But, she was a bit disappointed. Not that she would let Will know that. "It's fine. It was just an idea. An idiotic and stupid idea." When he told her that she did some much to him, she prayed that was a good thing. What does he mean I do so much to him? She jumped on to the floor as she heard William continuing asking her how she slept. "Fine, I guess. My brother woke me up with a spray bottle like I was freaking dog--...... Ok, not the right words. But, fine. She shrugged, sleep was just something she had to do. Not something she wanted to do. "Oh, but now that I'm thinkin' about sleeping; we were gonna have that bonfire thing tonight, remember?" She looked up at the ceiling before exhaling softly, so it didn't sound like she didn't want to go. She did want to, she just wasn't a very social person when it came to a couple of the other creatures. Like that bloodsucker and his, in her opinion, foolish girlfriend. She did like the pair and sure, maybe she did like to talk to Nathan once and a while. But, just like the generation before her. She didn't trust him as far as she could out throw him. No offense to him or Gemma, it was just her beliefs and her opinion. Ask for her witchy friend and literally her demon friend and their relationships, she didn't mind them as much.

"Because, I mean, if it won't work now and we gotta cancel, I can just call Gemma up and tell her we changed our minds, but.... I mean, it would be fun, you know?" She smiled. A true smile since they started to speak. "No, no. Babe, I want to. I really, really do. Alright? Besides you're the man. You are suppose to tell that we are going. Not that it's my choice or you must bribe me." At least, that's how she was raised. But, she knew with all her heart Will couldn't do that if he honestly tried. Looking around for something to drink in the small fridge. She put the phone between her narrow shoulder and right ear as she grabbed out a water. "I mean, if nothing else, we could snuggle up together by the fire... Make smoores." She raised an eyebrow and nodded. Maybe there was an upside. "I guess the snuggling will make it all worth it." She said kind of softly, no wanting people to know her love life. And in lowering her voice letting her Korean accent come out. Something she tried to hide so that people didn't make fun. She looked at the time and cursed in her head. "So, how long do you think the lesson will be?" She asked hoping that the person knew what they were doing so that she could be with her boy again.

Nathan's grin went down a few molars as Gemma brought up the location of the bonfire party tonight. A weak chuckle passed his lips as he tried to not look displeased with the offer. "Sonya's place, huh? Guess that means she'll be coming to," he finished with a slight touch of bitterness outlining the edge as his eyes darted away from Gemma for a moment. Nathan and Sonya had an interesting history to say the least. What were the odds that of all the people in all the world, it was Emma and Will who happened to fall in love with a vampire and werewolf respectively while just so happening to know each other? Practically nonexistent. And yet there they were and oh boy did it hit the fan when they met each other. Never had they gotten into a physical fight before but there had been bad blood between the packs and the clans since long before Nathan he knew either existed and as much as it felt like he was being bias, he wasn't a fan of the girl as a whole. A little rough around the edges for his liking.

He shook the negative thoughts out of his head as he looked back into Gem's eyes, the sight alone bringing the smile back to his lips. "Bonfire sounds like fun," he said cheerfully, acting as if his little moment of silent contemplation hadn't happened at all as he grabbed his coffee with his free hand and took a quick sip of it, letting the bitter sweet taste flow over his tongue. Avoiding someone as brash as Sonya would only make her more inclined to try and walk all over him and her boyfriend Will was a real nice guy if not something of a walking mat and if there was any reason good enough for him, it was that she wanted to go. 'Right. -He's- the walking mat,' he though to himself, realizing the irony of his own logic. "Tell you what, Benny is obviously counting the seconds 'til you get back to work so I'm going to head out and get some things ready. Maybe if you do good around here, she'll let you get off early and we can spend a little personal time together before the big event." He leaned over table, pushing his coffee to the side so that he didn't knock it over, and planted a soft kiss on her forehead before ducking down to look her in the eye, their faces just inches apart. "Deal?" he asked, tilting his head to the side curiously as he waited for an answer.

Of course Gemma had seen his frown, the way he reacted to he offer... she knew he didn't really like Sonya that much, and they always had had some rough spots with each other but that didn't mean that they hated each other. She sighed softly, looking up at him as he talked to her and seemed to be trying to convince her they he did want to go. But she knew, that he didn't... he didn't really, and wouldn't be if she wasn't going. She then smiled at him when she felt his lips press into her forehead softly and she held his hands tightly in her own as the zings went up and down her arms and hands. "Deal. Perhaps, we'll leave the party early and catch some fun time, hm?" she said, giggling softly as she looked at his perfect lips and into those alluring eyes.

She wasn't missing this chance. She quickly stole a kiss from his lips, forcing it to last for a few seconds before pulling away. The zapping and tingling rushed through her heart and made it flutter as butterflies jumped in her stomach. Happily, she smiled at him with her slightly red cheeks as her fingers traced over his and she would steal one more kiss before she got up, looking down at him. "I get off in about two hours. I'll text you when she lets me out early." She sent him a playful wink before grabbing her mug of barely touched coffee and made her way back to the counter as Betty offered her a smile and gestured to some tables. That only made Gemma feel more impatient as she started to wait on people again, clearing off surfaces and taking orders. For the next two hours.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

She had worked hard for about an hour and a half before Betty stopped her when she was coming to get an order, and gestured to another waitress who had just arrived. "Shifts over, kiddo. Go have some fun." She said, winking at her warmly and Gemma smiled happily towards her boss. She quickly walked into the work room, undoing her apron and hanging up her clothes as she changed into a casual flannel with a tang top and some loose jeans and then converse that looked a few years worn out. Her black bag went over her shoulder as she walked into the employee parking lot, looking around before she sent Nathan a text.

To: Nathan
Driving home in a sec. Meet me there? <3

She then hopped into her ford escape, revving the engine on and stepping on the gas lightly as she steered herself out onto the slightly busy street and away from the cafe as night was coming and starting to dwell around the large town. She only lived about 7 minutes from the cafe by car, and it didn't take long for her to reach her driveway to the medium sized house that was painted a light gray with green shutters and a green door, a field behind it with woods under a quarter of a mile away. She stepped out of the vehicle, locking it and leaning against it casually. She didn't even want to go inside; she just wanted to spend some alone time with Nathan.

Nathan couldn't hide the grin as he tenderly returned the kiss Gemma planted on his laps, glad to see her fall for his subtle tease. The warmth of her skin on his felt like stepping next to a furnace after coming out a blizzard, the sensation covering him from head to toe and making him feel like he was alive again. He had to fight the urge to not pull her back and simply embrace her, holding on tight and never letting go. It was this that fascinated Nathan about Gem so much. They both found each other so alluring, so spectacular, so life changing and that's what made him love her the most. No matter how much he adored her sheer beauty and adorable charm, she felt the same for him if not a thousand times more intense. He made it a habit to not stay long after her break simply because he was worried she wouldn't take her eyes off him. If their positions were reversed, he had no doubt he wouldn't be able to help himself.

He was glad to see she was able to pull herself away after another burning hot kiss and agreed to meet up at her place in two hours. He allowed himself a moment to admire her figure for the briefest of moments before he grabbed his mug, chugged down the lukewarm beverage and got up, straightening his jacket and slipping his shades out of his pocket and placing them on his face before leaving the cafe with the merry little bell chiming goodbye to him. It took two and a half blocks before it started to happen again. The numbness. The warmth of his beloved was quickly fading for him as he felt his heart ache to be with her again but aside from this painful longing, there was nothing else. A sigh escaped his lips, his face already a blank pale mask. Nathan was lucky. Many vampires went insane after their first century, not able to handle the simple passing of time any longer. The 'fortunate' cases such as him found themselves with the opposite problem: they went very, very sane. Emotion was slowly eaten away and thrown aside in exchange for a black and white logic driven way of thinking. It took ambition, faith and even your very conscious as days dragged by beyond end and Nathan was no exception. That's what made Gemma so precious to him. She was his anchor, the one thing that returned long forgotten thoughts and feelings. As much as he wanted to love and adore the relationship they had, he couldn't deny the fact that it was becoming rapidly unhealthy for him. It was quickly becoming a drug and the very idea brought feelings of deep set fear he couldn't quite shake. She wasn't just part of his life anymore. She was his entire world.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock.

Time ticked away slowly as Nathan lay in his messy three room apartment, laying on the unmade bed as he literally counted the ticking of the old grandfather clock next to the door. It was a trick he learned many years ago from a Bulgarian chap that claimed it helped keep you sane. That was over fifty years ago and it seemed to be doing miracles for Nathan.

6,954.... 6,955.... 6,956....

A familiar little tune filled the empty rooms as the phone on the bedside table began to shake. Nathan pushed himself up off the bed, his long blonde hair falling around his face as he stretched his sore muscles before plucking up the cell phone and reading the short little message from Gemma. Not that he had expected anyone else. She was the only reason he bought the thing to begin with.

Driving home in a sec. Meet me there? <3
From: Gem

The spark of emotion that kept driving him welled up again and as he smiled at the tiny pixelated heart before his fingers flew over the keypad, quickly punching in a response.

To Gem:
Couldn't stop me if you tried.

He snapped the phone shut and rushed to the door, grabbing his little bronze key he kept hung next to the door and locking his room behind him before he jogged down the steps and to the little parking lot the apartment housed, the feeling of joy and anticipation filling him once again as he made his way to the old Triumph T110 he kept from his wandering days. He didn't use it nearly as often as he use to but it was still in working order and he couldn't bear to part with it. Mounting it and kicking it into gear, he revved the engine before peeling out of the lot, easily breaking several traffic laws in the process. Nathan knew that the chances of him getting caught were low. Dillon didn't possess the best police force in the country and they usually spent their time on the highways or in the rougher parts of town. Good thing too because Nathan had no sense of patience when it came to getting where he wanted to.

The route to Gemma's house was drilled even deeper into his mind than the cafe's. He knew every little landmark, tree and house between his house and hers and it gave him quite a bit of joy to cut inbetween alleys with only inches of room to spare. One of the perks of having a lot of time on your hands was being able to master useless skills to their greatest extent and driving wasn't even his most recent or foolish endeavor. As he made the last turn onto the street he was looking for, he slowed down and took a smooth turn into the familiar old driveway. He saw, little to his surprise, that she had already beat him there and was waiting patiently against the side of her SUV. He dismounted quickly, approaching her with a smirk on his face. Without a single word he covered the distance between them and wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight as he dug his face into her hair as he just enjoyed the moment. After a couple of second, he chuckled and said, "You smell like you've been sitting in a crate of coffee beans."

Nathan chuckled light heartedly as she asked him what he wanted to do. He pulled his face back to get a good look at her but kept his body close as he spoke. "Well, going inside might be nice for -your- sake. It's bad enough that you're hugging the temperature equivalent of a bag of ice without the wind blowing the way it is," he said cheekily as his fingers played around the small of her back. He couldn't help but adore her little features even in the cold as her cheeks and nose turned bright red. Such a beautiful shade of red... A sudden churning in the pit of his stomach caught him off guard and the realization of the state he was slowly sinking into set in. He cleared his throat softly before he said, "And there's also another matter that might nice to put aside while we're not busy," he said, his expression a little more serious as well as his voice as he gave her a knowing, almost pleading look. His eyes darted down for just a quick second at he collar as he tried to give a less than subtle signal. He wasn't anywhere near the brink of really needing blood anytime soon but if it didn't happen sooner, it would most certainly happen later and it was certainly one way to spend some free time.

While he tried to keep a straight face as he let Gemma drag him into the house, a meek little half smile crossed Nathan's lips at the sheer levels of ridiculous that his feeding had managed to stir up in the last few years. One of the reasons he had been open with her about being a vampire was because he was afraid of just how much self control he could keep up when he let himself be so free around her. He was expecting fear, a promise that it'd never happen to her or at least some sign of her being repulsed by the whole idea and while that was the case at first it didn't last long. She quickly became intrigued by the whole idea and before long she'd managed to corner him into a deal to make her his only human 'host'. Of course animal blood worked just as well though it was far less appealing. Imagine trying to eat a steak with the hair still clung to the meat. Not appealing or comfortable for either parties. Not to mention any wild animal he did manage to catch might be diseased and while he couldn't quite contract disease the way he use to, sickness in the blood wasn't much better than the hair. Besides, there were certain side benefits to being the prey in this scenario which helped make the process more than bearable for humans. Gripping her hand tighter, they entered the house together.

Nathan liked the basement of Gemma's house. It was small and dark with a very rustic feel though the television did through off the feel very easily and her bedroom was very nice with a large bed covered in sheet that made his chest stir again as he was reminded again why they were there. Watching her lock the door made him feel almost as if he was her prisoner though only in a comical sense. Never before had he seen a human so borderline forceful of making sure they were made to be food. 'She's amazing,' is all he could think as he watched her change from the corner of his eye as he felt it to be incredibly rude if he stood there and gawked like some pervert. Not that it stopped him from looking from the side... It would be rude to feel so awkward if she isn't. It was a decent enough justification though he had nobody other than himself to wave it at.

He approached the bed, a sly smirk to match hers as he sat down next to her and stroked her hair lovingly. "No point in holding back then," he said with a playfully curt edge as he ran his fingers through her hair before he pushed it back behind her ear, exposing her neck to the open air. He leaned in close to her, wrapping one arm around her waist as he planted one long, cold kiss on her lips. Pulling back, he slide his head next to hers and whispered a gentle, "Thank you," into her ear before he slide his face down and buried his face into her neck. He planted a few quick kisses on her collar, the warmth and promise of sustenance causing his fangs to finally sprout right before he sank them gently into her soft flesh, her skin offering little resistance. In no time flat, the taste of rust and salt filled his mouth. While not nearly as pleasing as the modern mythos of vampires would have you believe, it was still satisfying on a level humans couldn't understand like taking a deep breathe of air when you didn't even realize you were suffocating. He could feel her tense at the first wave of pain though he knew it wouldn't last long as he already did what he could for her. Like any good predator, vampires had a good weapon: a toxic bite. While not harmful, it quickly calmed and pleased the victim's senses to stop them from struggling and thus avoid struggling and damage to the delicate vitals of the neck.

Nathan felt Gemma relax fully as the toxin set in as every muscle began to loosen and she began to practically melt in his arms. Though he kept his eyes closed, he could feel her body weakening as her mind quickly gave into the numb pleasure and her frail but warm figure pulled closer. She made light touches and sounds from time to time as her senses began to loose themselves in the fog of blind ecstasy. He too was lost in his own little world as blood poured into his mouth, filling him to the brim in and almost unbearable warmth that burrowed deep into his chest. While one could call it feeding, it had no nutrition his long dead body had no use for. It was very simply a means to continue living that humans lacked in life though the incredible sensation that went through the feeder's body was incredible. It was like being alive again but returning as some majestic demigod, a being no ordinary man could match on any front and having a host barely able to hold on to their thoughts being held in your arms made it even more empowering.

As gently as possible, he wrapped his free arm around her shoulders and kept the other firmly in the small of her back as he began dipping her to the side. In her state she was barely able to hold herself and thus they both fell onto the bed easily and lay side by side as Nathan continued quenching his thirst as he began sliding his fingers up and down the length of her spine. The warmth and feel become almost blinding as he kept taking gulp after gulp without much though. The predator in him insisted he keep going and going until there was nothing left. For a minute, he considered almost listening to it and doing just that. Then another weak sound slide into his ear and he remembered whom it was he held on to so tightly. His love, his life, his everything. His humanity quickly won over as he began to slow down, taking smaller and smaller drink until he stopped all together, his fan receding as he pulled back and opened his eyes to see her pale, weak but still incredibly beautiful features as a tiny smile slid across his face as a stray trickle of blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. "I think you've gotten your fix for the day," he said teasingly as he pulled his arm back from around her shoulder and wiped her neck clean with his sleeve, the two little wounds already closing fast at his touch. "How are you feeling?" he asked with an edge of concern as he squinted into her foggy eyes. He knew he hadn't done it enough to cause any real complications but seeing her in this state always gave him a bit of a scare. She always looked a bit too much like he did...

Gemma continued to feel her muscles turning into what felt like mush as he continued to suck from her neck as her skin grew paler and paler, more sickly from the loss of blood that he was taking from her. It was amazing to her, the feeling and the pleasure causing her body to tingle with pleasure even more so as her legs crossed and her toes stretched and wiggled slightly before going limp again when he dipped her down onto the bed and held onto her with his strong arms, burying his face further into her throat while small moans and noises seeped from her pale lips at the feeling of bliss and wonder were impaling her thoughts and causing them to drop dead like flies as all she could do was float, let the golden pleasure arouse her as her senses seemed to die for a moment or so. But he did start to slow down eventually, and she knew he had to or she might just pass out or worse, die from lack of blood... and she always wondered, if that happened, would he turn her to keep her alive? At times she had been tempted to force him into feeding from her longer so he could make the choice, and hopefully let her live as one of his kind but... how could she ever ask him to do something like that, or force him into it even. He didn't want that, and she knew it. But the worry barely brewing in her mind was already gone when she felt his fingers rubbing up and down her spine. Even his touch caused her pleasure and ecstasy while he fed off of her.

When he pulled away, a small shudder and a small moan escaped her lips again as his fangs slid out of her skin and she twitched a bit as her exhausted figure continued to lean into him while he held her up with his arms, his touch healing the stinging holes on her throat. His joke made her smile faintly as her pale lips trembled lightly, and she shivered a bit from the blood loss. "Amazing. I promise." She whispered in response to his question and she looked at his bloody mouth, grinning slightly before she leaned up and kissed him softly. Of course she could taste the rust and salt on his lips, which wasn't exactly what she preferred but... perhaps someday, that's what she would have to drink. God, why... why did she want that so bad? She frowned slightly when she had pulled away from the kiss, her hands tracing his face softly as she observed his perfect features that looked like they were carved by the hands of artistic angels. "Nathan, there's something I think we should talk about." she said softly, her eyes staring at his perfect lips before the bright hues looked into his own.

Nathan leaned into the soft kiss she planted on his blood soaked lips, the warmth of her skin and blood shooting through him again as if the feeding hadn't stopped. Even when she looked so pale, her skin still held the same spark that kept him coming back for more. He felt like she offered him everything she had. Her body, her mind, her soul, her love, her life. Her everything. The idea flattered and horrified him at the same time. Was he really someone who could be trust with a life so fragile when his self control was still so unstable? But he didn't care. To hell with it all. What happened would happen and he would do everything in his power to handle it when the time came. As she pulled away from the kiss, everything seemed to fall into place for just a brief moment. Then he saw the blood on her lips. Panic set into his still heart at the very sight as he lifted one hand to wipe the smear away with his sleeve as she asked to speak about something. "We'll have plenty of time to talk after we've cleaned up a little," he said, a small somewhat forced smile crossing his lips as his first concern became making sure she didn't know the shock that went through his system a moment ago.

He pulled himself away from her, his hands hesitant to leaving the incredible warmth as he sat up and stretched for a moment. "I'm going to get you a bandage and a wash cloth. Then we can both sit down and I can make you a bite to eat," he said with his smile growing a bit stronger as the fear slowly began to fade. It was a silly pointless shock he didn't have to worry about. It wasn't the idea of changing her but the thought that he might do it without meaning to. An accident that changed her life without a second chance just as it happened to him. She'd have all the attention and teaching her never would and she'd be a thousand times better off than he had it that cold, cold night. But he wanted to do it when the time was right. He walked out of the bedroom and found the little bathroom, swinging open the medicine cabinet and shuffling through it in search of the small square bandages Gemma kept around. While the bite wounds had closed, it'd still be some time before the scars faded and there was no need for people asking if a snake attacked her or something. With the bandage she could make up any old lie and if people didn't believe it, the most obvious assumption would be that her weird boyfriend gave her a hickey or something and if those who knew better such as Chang and her family had a problem with it, that was their burden. Just because he lived in wolf territory didn't mean they had any power of authority.

He found the little white square of a box and plucked out a single bandage before pocketing it and turning the water in the sink on, splashing a few cold handfuls on his face as the blood fell off his face and down the drain. He grabbed a wash rag and soaked it as well before stepping out and going to Gemma's side again. "Miss me?" he asked cheerfully, the worries from moments ago all but gone as he sat down next to her and gently dabbed at her neck, washing away the crimson liquid. He tossed the soiled cloth aside and pulled out the bandage, unwrapping it and gently pressing it over the twin marks before he leaned down and kisses the spot. "All better," he whispered in her ear as his usual sly grin crossed his lips.

Gemma would look up at him after he had gotten up, informing her they would have plenty of time to talk later on, and she smiled softly as he wiped the blood away from her mouth and she could easily notice the slight shock in his eyes. What had startled him...? The sight of her own blood covering her mouth? She frowned a bit then as she looked up at him in a slight worry, her hands fidgeting down at her lap as she watched him stretch and step away from her with his shoulders going up from the position of his stretching.

"I'm going to get you a bandage, and a wash cloth. Then we can both sit down, and I can make you a bite to eat."

Oh, that made her heart flutter happily. What a lover... so perfect in every way. Not only was he physically amazing, but his personality was another reason she had stayed with him. He gave her all he could, and was always willing to do whatever he could to make her happy and help her. She offered a smile, a warm smile that showed such passion on her face as he walked away from her and went inside her bathroom to find the bandage and what not. She only had so much time to get up, but she was quite dizzy and had to sit back down and move herself all the way on the bed as she laid against the right bed pole that was part of the support system for the bed, her eyes shutting for only a few seconds before she heard his voice again and his footsteps coming back inside the room. Her eyes fluttered open again as she felt cold water touch her neck, making her suck in a breath with a grin as he washed off the blood from her neck, wiping away the red ooze before he pressed the bandage over the bite marks he had placed upon her throat that she could easily cover with her hair.

A kiss on the neck made her shiver with lovely delight and she smiled up at him, looking into his eyes with a sweet and charismatic expression before she wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled herself up in a haste, kissing him softly on the lips and using him to support her without being extremely obvious. "I must be the luckiest girl in the world." she said, whispering into his cheek as her lips grazed his skin and she looked into his eyes. "So, you said something about food?" she said, a playful grin matching his own as she tilted her head a bit and her eyelashes batted again as her weak limbs tried to keep herself up. Food would be good to help rebuild some strength, plus... her stomach was growling.

Nathan smiled wider as he was caught off guard by another sudden kiss, her weak arms wrapping around his neck as he supported her with ease. Four years with her and she was still so unpredictable. It was as if she was always waiting, looking for the perfect moment to steal a kiss and take his breathe away. She whispered a few sweet words into his ear, her warm breathe brushing against his skin and making it tingle ever so slightly. And as if to top it all off, she suddenly shifted from sexy to adorable in no time flat as she playfully brought up the subject of food. He simply rolled his eyes and tried his best to look stern as he said, "Oh, that's right. I'm not your adoring lover, no, no, I'm your butler and personal dealer all in one with some benefits on the side. You know, in my day-" Catching her off guard, he paused his words mid sentence and wrapped his arms around her as he literally sweeped her off her feet, one arm holding her back and one arm supporting her legs as her arms clung around his neck all in one swift move that must have looked like barely a blur to her. Ah, the benefits of regular feeding.

As if nothing happened, he continued his sentence as he walked out the room and towards the steps. "- It was incredibly rude for a lady of your age to ask the man she courted for a meal. Mind you, this was also the time period where buckled shoes were still acceptable, children played board games made of wood for entertainment and this-" He paused again as he blew a few strands of hair out of his face as they reached the top of the stairs. "- Was acceptable in high society for men to have. If they wore a ponytail. Now? People assume I enjoy headbanging and listening to a bunch of loons with sore throats scream about violence and Satan." He entered the well lit kitchen and went to the table, pulling out one chair with his foot as he slowly placed her down in it as he kept going. "Of course now I sound like an old man. Which I technically am. If I had a pulse and a few wrinkles, old Sheriff Renalds and his three deputies might have kicked down the door by now and start yelling the 'p' word at me as they hauled me off." He pulled his arms back from around her, letting one of his fingers slide across the length of her shoulders before he clapped his hands together and put on a comical grin. "Right. Food then. You know what you have better than I do. What would you like, Miss Lockheart?"

Nathan just rolled his eyes again as he went along with the playful jesting back and forth. "Well, if her majesty just has to have her bread garliced, I'll have no choice but to trudge onward despite the pain and eventual death." He let out a dramatic sigh as he opened the cupboards and began to pull out ingredients and spices. "It's been a good run..." he whispered before letting out a pitiful little sniffle. Of course he did it all jokingly. Vampires had problems with garlic that a normal human wouldn't have. The idea was older than he was and it had nothing to do with vampires to begin with. How time twisted with the facts. It use to annoy him but not it was just humorous. He shifted through the fridge, picking out a few bright bits of veggies while the pan filled with water from the sink. "So," he said as he pulled out a chopping board and knife and began chopping a pepper into pieces in a practical blur. "You said there was something you wanted to talk about, right? I'm all ears." He stopped his work for a moment, looking over his shoulder to give her a comforting smile before looking back at his work and getting back to it. The tone she had spoken in when she had brought up a 'talk' was worrisome but there was no point in dodging it. If she wanted to talk, he always had an ear open for her. He'd been her own little secret keeper for the last four years, what else could be said that was so bad anyways?

Gemma leaned back in her chair as her hands fiddled with eachother in her lip, her observations of him careful as she watched him gather ingredients to start his famous cooking that she adored to chew and swallow. She offered him a smile as he glanced back at her, giving her the go that it was appropriate for her to begin her conversation. She just... how should she start? She was paranoid he would become upset or erupt on her... he never did, but still, this topic was something she hadn't really brought up before much. She sighed a bit and took in a deep breath before answering.

"Well.. I... lately, I've been having these nightmares." She explained, the first sentence rolling with the tone and theme as she fidgeted and shifted more in her chair. "It's us... together, but I'm so old... and you're so young. And..." she chewed on her lower lip as she looked up at him as he continued to chop up veggies and warm up the water in a pan. Her knees locked back and forth as her fingers locked in a tightening embrace. "Nathan, I don't want to die... and leave you. I don't want to grow old while you stay so young... and.." she looked away from him. "I just want to know if you'll ever give me the choice... of actually becoming like you." she said, looking at him to see his reaction, even though her stomach twisted in fear of the answer.

Nathan didn't react much as Gemma spoke, the only sign that anything surprised him was when she finished the first sentence, his chopping paused for just a brief moment before he continued as if nothing had happened. When she finished, the room was quiet besides the sound of chopping and that only went on for a second or two before it stopped as well. The silence was stiffing as the seconds ticked by until suddenly Nathan began to chuckle. Putting the knife down next to the chopped vegetables and held onto the counter ledge as he quickly was lost in apparent humor as his laughing became louder and louder. It was nervous, awkward forced laughter but legitimate humor. He managed to get a few words in between chortles as he turned, humor written all over his face. "Don't ever scare me like that," he said as he tried to take a few quick breathes to calm down his nerves. He knew she felt terrible and nervous and the conversation felt very silly to him. He turned around and shook his head as he looked lovingly down at her. "Gemma, you don't honestly think I'm planning on never doing it? I've lost too much to the ages to be letting you slip by any time soon." He stepped lightly towards her as he continued. "I love you, Gemma Lockheart and I'll love you and keep you forever. But this is a big decision and while I'm not worried about your willingness, I'm more concerned about the timing. Think about it. Mysterious young adult and girlfriend go suddenly missing, police suspect foul play. Can't just sweep you away out of the blue. This takes planning. But..." He stopped right in front of her and leaned over her, a devilish look in his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her shoulder and leaned in close. "I'm not giving you a choice, love. You're stuck with me for good whether you like it or not," he whispered in a dark but sweet tone before forcing a passionate kiss on her lips.

She felt her cheeks burning with embarrassment and foolishness as he let silence tick by, except for the chopping that ended shortly after. Followed by laughter, strange laughter she didn't want to hear... she could only look down with pain twisting in her stomach as he kept laughing and finally spoke to her, which those words weren't very comforting either... was he... under the impression she was joking about this? Or was he expecting something more intense and had a different opinion then what she thought? Thankfully, his next comments made her heart spill out relief as he would look down at her with a warm expression.

She would blink a few times as he explained his reasoning, the fact that he actually had been planning on it eventually making her feel so much better inside as he wrapped his arms around her shoulder and leaned into her face, smiling at her mischievously and explaining how her choice wasn't a choice, but merely an illusion of her paranoia. She smiled at him softly as the fear in her chest faded altogether at the establishment that he was going to do it, but only at the time that it would work out. His kiss made her melt as she would kiss back, the zing on their cold and warm lips meeting each other forcing her to feel tingles in her body as her heart pounded and she quickly wrapped her arms around his neck before looking at him in the eyes. "That's all I needed to hear, Nathan." She said in a sweet, light voice that was almost a whisper.

"Glad to hear it," he whispered back softly before he planted another quick burning kiss and pulled his arms back from around her and turned to continue on his work again. Most of the ingredients had yet to even be readied and the water in the sink have long since overflowed from the pot. "Oops," he said simply as he went over and turned the faucet off, draining the unneeded water before plopping it on the stove and lighting the burner on high. He then got around to grabbing bits and pieces, slicing up more vegetables and heating up the cheese sauce in a sauce pan on a separate burner as a strange warmth continued to stir through his chest that he simply couldn't shake off. A twisted sort of impatience snaked through his mind at the conversation he'd just had with Gemma. He'd never had a problem with turning her though he refused to even play with the concept when she was younger. She was still practically a child when they met but now she was an adult and it was apparent that she wanted to be by his side for all eternity. The idea made Nathan feel very wanted and cherished. She'd end her own life just to exist with him for all of time. If that wasn't love, he didn't know what was.

"Did I ever tell you how I learned to cook like this?" he asked as he looked away from the sauce pan that he was stirring the contents of slowly with a wooden spoon. "I actually got the position as butler to a very powerful Italian family back in... must have been '22. I knew some basics at the time but the head chef, Stephano, just insisted I learned something so that there was somebody to cook once he passed on. Crazy bastard was paranoid everything but old age was out to get him. Ironic that it's what killed him. Anyways..." He paused as he tapped the spoon on the rim of the pan before reaching out and grabbing the bag of uncooked noodles that he ripped open with his hand and poured into the now bubbling waters. He then turned to start messing with some more vegetables as he continued with his story. "I learned quite a bit. Pastas with red and white sauce, nice bit of baking and even some nice soft desserts. Probably good idea to mention that's where I first learned to fire a gun." A light chuckle escaped his lips. "May have been nice of my boss to mention he was a member of the mob before hiring me but you have to take life as it comes at you."

Gemma stayed silent and still as she watched him continue his prep cooking, stirring in veggies and making a cheese sauce as he started to bubble the waters in the pan with the power of the burner underneath it. She always adored watching him cook; his hand slicing with ease, powerful fingers easily ripping packages with no spills and his flawless grace without needing to be too careful with his eyes while he preformed all of it. She smiled up at him as he would glance at her and then back at his cooking station and he began to speak, lightening up the mood even more so as her heart had calmed down it's rate from the previous topic. It had left her feeling more tired then she should have felt, but she was still weak from lack of blood.

She smiled up at him as he started explaining his cooking lessons to her, her eyes widening in amazement of his stories... it was so wonderful, at how many places he had been and all the skills he had preformed and acquired on his lonesome journey into darkness. She giggled softly at the year he mentioned, and giggled some more at the humorous tone he mentioned at parts of his story, explaining the lovely cooking skills he did obtain and now used to satisfy her. Gemma adored his cooking, and she knew she would probably never be as good at him in that topic but he seemed to enjoy her's the same and never complained. But Gemma was sure he had had better food in his time. She was amateur, in many eyes.

"Your cooking has always been a slice of ecstasy, Nathan." she said, responding and then laughing at his mob comment. That made her smile as she leaned back, giggling softly after she watched him slice more veggies and she rubbed at her head which ached slightly from the withdrawal of blood. Her sight was a bit blurred for a moment before she rested her head onto her arms, closing her eyes softly as she listened to the bubbling of the water and the small sounds the knife made on the chopping bored. She wasn't bored. She was just tired.
