Description

Izumi Tachikawa
Alias: Choi Wong

Image

I’ve always been described as a secretive, seductive, and or mysterious kind of guy. However everyone’s got to breathe some time or another right? Well, here’s to catching my breath.

Image

My name is Izumi Tachikawa. I am also known by the alias Choi Wong. I’m a 30 year old, half Japanese- Korean from Kochi prefecture, Japan, specifically from Tsuno City. I don’t look my age do I? The few who know where I’m from find it hard to believe that I came from such a small town environment. My family has always had money in plentiful amounts. They were part of a multi-millionaire corporation, Vermilion Dynamics. However my parents preferred for me to live a quiet life in my early years. If you’re wondering, of course you are because everyone wonders, which of my parents was Japanese or Korean, my mother is South Korean and my father is Japanese.

Image

Image

I was always an honor student. I never liked to brag about it but I’d never let myself forget it either. It was the proof to my-self and everyone else that I am capable of making alone on my own merits rather than relying on my family’s wealth to carry me through. I moved to Tokyo as a teenager, my parents who both used to stay at home because they technically didn’t have to work suddenly became quite busy during that time. My grandfather, Jinpachi Tachikawa, began needing more of their help with the company. The projects they worked on got bigger and more important. My grandfather would always tell me that he wanted me to “become him” whatever that meant. I just took it as Jii-chan being full of himself as he was. But what he actually meant was something that I should have taken more time to piece together the meaning of. It would have helped me foresee what was to happen to me later.

Image

Image

I went to college in South Korea and double majored in Bio-engineering and Genetics. I minored in business. I was quite the busy bee. I was urged to pursue those subjects by my grandfather who was overly invested in my life’s choices. As usual I did very well and upon graduation I was given, or better to say forced, into an executive position within Vermillion Dynamics, as the head of their international pharmaceutical branch. I researched and developed many vaccines and medicines for epidemics that caused millions to sing my praises. I felt excited about working for Vermillion for once in my life.

Image

Image

Five years ago Vermilion was at the peak of its top classified research project. It was supposed to be a cure all vaccine, one that adapts to viral matter and fights off the negative strands. However we didn’t realize we were creating a component to be used in the creation of the Virus to top all viruses, the Z-Virus. My Grandfather had begun collaborating with a man named Fredrick Simmons, prominent member of a underground group if international power holders. With Simmons came the introduction of a new chemical strand that would be combined with our current working vaccine formula. Simmons was to work closely with my branch, as per grandfather’s orders. However Simmons was overly interested in me beyond a work capacity and I indulged him for a while.

Image

Image

I didn’t realize what the added chemical Simmons added was capable of. Until I saw it put to the test. A test subject was injected with the compound created by our labs and Simmons’ added chemical, named Zalvine. The subject choked and trembled for minutes, it was rather scary. The test subject died shortly after injection. However, his cells showed signs of heavy and rapid mutation. Everyone was shocked, but Fredrick. Within minutes the test subject revived but in a crazed and rabid state. I generally keep my cool about most everything but this was a bit too much for even me. The subject was something out of a zombie film. As we stood on the other side of the observation window, Fredrick simply gave me a kiss on the lips and smiled, saying “Now the real tests begin for our subject here.” And then walked off. I was mortified.

Image

Image

I immediately spoke to my grandfather regarding Simons and his insane experiments. However my grandfather was already aware and had struck the deal with the devil himself. I was the only one in the dark as to the true nature of the business venture. Jinpachi-jiichan told me that he needed me to oversee the company and help to throw our pursuers off track. I was to become Jinpachii-jiichan, I was to be the new head of Vermillion Dynamics. My known alias to most was Choi Wong. Recently that name is associated with terrorists such as Simmons. My real name, Tachikawa Izumi is more closely associated with Vermillion Dynamics. I’ve been set up as a puppet as my grandfather continues to sell his soul for global power.

Image

Image

I was at a loss for what to do. There’s a first time for everything I suppose. Simmons grew more possessive of me and I wanted out of it all. Deals were being made with terrorists globally and I was dragged along for the ride. I learned a few things from an acquaintance of mine that was an international spy, as to how to become an excellent escape artist and how to defend myself in tight spots. God knows how many of them I would be finding myself in. Simmons and I went to a satellite lab out in Texas of the United States. Little did I know that life for everyone was about to change. The Z-Virus had been manufactured on an extremely large scale. Somehow the BCMO got wind out the whereabouts of the facility and raided the place. I was present along with Fredrick. In an act of desperation Fredrick activated the virus via the missiles and kaboom, zombie apocalypse.

Image

Image

Simmons and I escaped. However I have been running special missions ever since. I wish someone would have told me I was sleeping with a damn monster. How the hell did I allow myself to be practically betrothed to a bio-terrorist? I have no clue
however it makes me think back to my younger years when I thought I was so clever, and now I feel the exact opposite. Funny thing is everyone else still thinks I’m cleverer than the trickiest fox. Sad thing is I’m just as frightened as the field mouse. Well given my instructions... this mouse is to actually take to the zombie infested fields and run tests on survivors I encounter. I just have to gain their trust. Easier said than done. God forbid they find out I’m partially responsible for this hell.

Creator of the Z-Virus and is a prominent leader of an underground group of international power holders. He is responsible for the current epidemic and is working with bio terrorists. He himself is considered a bio-terrorist and desires to further research the effects of the z-virus on those that survived it.

Image

He is romantically and professionally involved with Izumi Tachikawa. Freedrick has proven to bequite possessive and downright infatuated with Izumi. Much to Izumi’s dislike. He is highly intelligent and cunning. He prefers to work behind the scenes, which is why Izumi is often made to serve as a distraction so that those in pursuit of him are thrown off of his trail.

Izumi Tachikawa (Choi Wong), Fredrick Simmons

Izumi stood leaning his back against the corner of a deserted skyscraper in a city that had been struck by one of the bombs carrying the virus 5 years ago. The metropolis was now a zombie filled wasteland. He thought back to only a day ago when he was with Fredrick.

The two had finished being intimate with each other, Izumi sat up in bed and lit a cigarette and took a drag from it. He and Fredrick were at a pent house suite located in Canada at the time. This city was not affected by the Z-Virus yet. Fredrick once more cuddled Izumi kissing him at the nape of his neck.

“I don’t know how I’ll function with you gone.” Simmons whispered. He was sending Izumi into the USA, or what used to be the functioning United States, to carry out a mission. The zombie barren wasteland was dangerous but Simmons knew that Izumi would be fine.

“If you’re so co-dependent on me, Fredrick, you could come with me.” Izumi replied dryly. He knew that Simmons liked to send him to do his dirty work.

Fredrick sighed heavily. “You know I can’t do that this time my love.” Fredrick turned Izumi’s face towards his own. “I know I’m asking a lot of you. I always do and I’m sorry for all of that. You know that.” Fredrick continued to nuzzle his cheek against Izumi’s. Izumi looked stoically as he usually did when in situations like this with Fredrick.

“Indeed I have heard that before. Don’t worry Fredrick I’ll go and you’ll get by just fine without me. You’ll find a way to get over, you most always do.” Izumi replied smugly. He smiled as he flicked his bangs out of his face.

Fredrick smirked. “I only hope heaven can forgive me for sending my angel to hell and back.” He hugged Izumi close.

Izumi made no attempt to reciprocate the embrace. Once Fredrick let go Izumi replied. “Oh
how self-absorbed you are. You’re responsible for turning a whole country into its own personal hell, killed millions an turned angels into monsters, and you’re wondering if god can forgive you for putting ME in harm’s way? You’d better pray that god has a fraction left of something other than disdain for you because what you deserve is far more horrible than you seem to realize.” Izumi crawled past Fredrick, after putting out his cigarette, and laid down.

“Fair enough Love. Okay I promise next time I’ll go with you. Let’s go to sleep. You’ve got a big day ahead of you. Remember, I’ll keep a monitor on your position. Gather what intel you can on the survivors and then head to the extraction point so that I can pick you up in a few days.” Fredrick replied as he lay down with Izumi holding him closely. “I love you Izumi Tachikawa.” Fredrick added.

Izumi opened his eyes and there he was, standing in the cover of the Skyscraper. There were infected approaching having been drawn toward the sound of the helicopter that dropped Izumi there which was now leaving. Izumi held a crossbow with plenty of metal arrows. Some of the explosive variety, others were normal silver arrows. He also had a gun that shot acid rounds. Izumi most always had a grappling gun handy for reaching higher ground. He looked quite pristine in comparison to anyone that had been surviving out in the hellish country for so long.

Izumi took a deep breath and closed his eyes once more. “Angel
I’m no angel Fredrick. You saw to that yourself. Well to hell and back if necessary.” He said to himself. Izumi immediately took off running, his shoes clacking against the concrete of the desolate city streets. The zombies took chase. They weren’t nearly as fast as Izumi but they somehow managed to keep up. Izumi headed for the edge of the city but he needed to lose those following him. He shot an explosive bolt into the head of one of the zombies and after ten rapid beeps the bolt exploded killing about fifteen zombie and disabling others.

Izumi looked back casually. “Only in emergencies Tachikawa
” He said to himself with a heavy sigh.

After a bit of wandering about he stumbled upon a small shop and four people inside. “Those are definitely survivors.” He thought. “Well, here goes.” Izumi walked toward the entrance and stood at the doorway.

“Well well
It seems hell hasn’t consumed everybody around here. For that I am glad.” Izumi said to the group with a smile upon his pale face. He collapsed his crossbow and placed it into his black bag. “I mean you all no harm. I’m Izumi Tachikawa. I’m a professional bounty hunter in search of a man named Lambert Cranston. Have any of you encountered him or know of his whereabouts?” Izumi told the group his cover story. They couldn’t be told that the truth about his mission. This story would explain his arsenal of crossbow, explosive bolts, acid rounds, and grappling gun, as well as why he didn’t look like he’d been fighting to survive like they had.

He continued, “If you all are with me upon the completion of my mission, I might be able to offer you a lift out of here to civilization.” Izumi meant what he said. He felt horrible as he looked upon the four people who were fighting to survive a hell brought on to them by people who only gave a shit about themselves. He would force Fredrick to help these people if he had to. However, this was all given that they trust him enough to keep him around and or not kill him on the spot. Izumi kept a confident and polished look about himself as he waited for a reply.

Izumi Tachikawa

Izumi smirked as the young woman seemed to not take him too seriously. He didn’t really look like a bounty hunter. However he had the skills to handle himself in a tricky spot and make it look near flawless. However his mention of helping them find civilization seemed to put her off.

The young woman’s amused expression dropped. "Okay, I'm calling bullshit." She said. "Civilization. The world ended, homie. There ain't no civilization. I don't know what the hell you've been smoking, but it's about time you kick the habit." she said bitterly.

Izumi had to remember that these people had been in such chaotic conditions for so long they’re mind set was in a completely different phase. They were abandoned by the little bit of government that still existed and to them there was no more government system. However Izumi was fortunate enough to have witnessed portions of the world that were still functioning, even if only to the fraction of its former capacity. Izumi’s smile faded minutely. He still grinned but not in a menacing manner.

“If we were playing a game you’d lose by calling bullshit on that.” Izumi said while folding his arms. “Look at me. Do I look like I’ve been fighting for my life in this wasteland for months? I don’t think so. That’s because I had a ride here. Once I find who and what I need, I’m outta here. Trust me or not take it or leave it. It’s up to you.” Izumi’s face carried more of a serious disposition now. He hoped that everyone else wasn’t so apprehensive. He really wanted to help them. It was the least he could do.

"They are blood. I don't think they are bad, but do not trust them".

To be fair, anyone with a careful eye and enough intelligence would eventually figure out Derek's sign language. Not immediately, but eventually. Derek looked at the others, and then at this new person. He repositioned his bow at the person, backing up somewhat to maintain a safe distance. He looked at Jess again.

"Tell them that if any of them so much as touches me, I might just shoot them"

Derek was sweet really, but when your parents abandon you for no good reason, you get trust issues. Lots of them. It took forever to let Jess in.

Derek couldn't help but continuously feel like something was wrong. When he looked through a store window, he saw plenty of untaken supplies.

However, that is when Derek heard music from this one store. He looked back at Jess. "We are never going to be able to leave here alive if that music keeps playing...". He began walking towards the store, bow raised and arrows loaded.

James watched the conversation before him impassively, raising an eyebrow when an Asian man appeared, claiming he was a bounty hunter and here to help. He frowned slightly. He certainly wasn't fighting for his life. He looked too well-kempt and his weapons were too advanced. Still, he didn't feel like trusting the man just yet.

"Why do I get the feeling that this is too good to be true?" he asked the others aloud. He trusted Luke, of course. There was nothing fishy about the man's appearance. Besides, he had known the man all his life. The girl and the kid looked to be in the same boat as him, but the Asian.. He sighed and shook his head.

"If a zombie apocalypse has taught me anything, it's that when something is too good to be true, it usually is. I'm headed for the Colony and I suppose we can all travel together. But I don't trust anyone but Uncle Luke. I don't expec to be trusted myself."

Izumi Tachikawa

Izumi eyed the young boy as he looked at him. Izumi watched as the boy repositioned his bow at the person, backing up somewhat to maintain a safe distance. He looked at Jess again. And seemed to be signing something. Izumi didn’t know sign language but he paid close attention anyhow.

The blonde man spoke, "Why do I get the feeling that this is too good to be true?" he asked the others aloud. Izumi simply looked up at him, trying to anticipate what was to come next. It didn’t seem as if he was going to be the most welcome amongst this group of people.

"So what does this guy look like?" The woman asked, with a rueful sigh. Izumi gave a smiled smile of relief to see that the young woman was at least trying to level with him even if minutely. With that, She turned to find the young boy gone. Panic washed over her face. "Hold that thought." she said and scanned the area. "Dee?"

Izumi turned as the young woman went in search of the boy. He was concerned too. It wasn’t a great idea to wander off alone. Izumi had not long been in the zombie infested land but he knew better not to go it alone if he could help it.

The blonde man spoke again, "If a zombie apocalypse has taught me anything, it's that when something is too good to be true, it usually is. I'm headed for the Colony and I suppose we can all travel together. But I don't trust anyone but Uncle Luke. I don't expec to be trusted myself."

Izumi nodded in agreement. “Fair enough. If you will have me along I offer to help out in whatever way I can.” Izumi replied calmly. He turned his attention toward outside. “Whoever is playing music should really think again. There will be infected all over this place it that persists.” He said calmly. He walked out of the store in an effort to follow the young woman. None of them introduced themselves to him so he didn’t know all of their names, except for those of the boy and possibly the larger muscled man.

Izumi thought to himself, ‘So the boy is called “Dee” or it could be a nickname, and the muscled man is “Luke”. He must be well acquainted with the Blonde guy. Alright then
’

Izumi thought it unusual but he wished that Fredrick was with him. He had such a love hate relationship with the man. There were times he didn’t want Fredrick to touch him and other times when all he wanted was to embrace him. Izumi thought it to be his own personal Stockholm syndrome having set in. Perhaps Izumi was in love with the idea of being in love. He simply couldn't decide. However he for sure hated that Fredrick sent his to face the people he trough under the bus.

Izumi took out a special handheld device that allowed him communicate with Fredrick. He typed out and sent a message. “Lambert Cranston had better make an appearance in the near future because I have a feeling that the survivors I’ve encountered won’t feel at ease with me for a long while without some validity to my story. Love you Simmons
” The message read.

Fredrick’s reply was, “Alright. Give me a few days and I shall join you in the field as Lambert Cranston. I missed you anyway. Don’t forget to collect samples of the infected and carefully monitor the survivors. If you by chance come upon any sample material from a survivor, procure it as well.” Izumi read the message and then a moment later it was deleted, like all messages that passed through the device. It was a security measure Simmons took to avoid being traced back to Choi Wong of Izumi.

Derek found his way into a conscience store, filled with food and supplies. Even clothing. And thre was an old caset player playing a tape. Derek tried to smash it against a wall, but it was durable and strong. He threw it through the window into the street, but the damn thing still played. Why is this damn thing so stubborn?

Derek took out his knife to stab it, or remove its batteries, when the caset player ended its song, and there was a voice speaking now. "Well, I think that was a nice song. Now, I hope everyone is hungry, because I think it is time we had a festival! It will be a good end to the season. But what will the theme be this year?"

Derek was somewhat confused. Did the thing just start on its own? It also brought up some good memories of his parents, which only hurt him. "Anyways, we have tallied the votes. Today's festival theme will be...ZOMBIEFEST!!"

Derek immediately raised his bow, looking around. No fucking way this isn't a trap.

He spun a noisemaker around three times, to indicate possible danger.

"Today here, we have a band of survivors against a zombie hoard! Will humanity prevail? Or will the zombies increase in numbers!! Let's find out!"

Derek liked this less and less. He started to make his way back to them, but zombies were already pouring in. From everywhere. It's as if some stored the zombies in closets and just released them now. But whoever was behind this, was a complete psychopath. Derek started killing zombies, making his way back towards the group.

Izumi Tachikawa

Izumi put away his com-device and proceeded to head after the young woman and little boy. The sound of the music they had heard grew louder which also meant that trouble wouldn’t be far behind as well. The music suddenly halted and a what sounded like a voice recording began to play. "Today here, we have a band of survivors against a zombie hoard! Will humanity prevail? Or will the zombies increase in numbers!! Let's find out!"

Izumi froze in place for a moment. “Hmm
it seems Simmons isn’t the only one playing games around here. There must be another string puller about as well.” Izumi rolled his eyes and sighed. “You always drag me into the worst situations simmons.” He muttered to himself.

Izumi sprinted toward the commotion inside the deserted shop. There he found the young woman and the boy he heard referred to as Dee being overtaken by the infected. “I can’t go letting this sort of thing happen to them now can I?” He said to himself. He shot a few crossbow arrows at a couple of the zombies that held Dee down. Both arrows pierced through two zombies heads causing them to burst open due to the sheer force of the shots. The child zombie remained attempting to attack the boy. Izumi used his grappling hook to hook itself around the neck of the child zombie and he reeled it toward him. Once the zombie lay on its back at Izumi’s feet he stomped the head open with his boot.

“Well that’s another notch on my list of first time moments. Stomping open a child zombie head
” Izumi cringed a little. It was now time to help the young lady. Izumi fired a well-placed arrow into the chest of one of the attacking zombies and it was impaled, stuck to a wall. Before Izumi could help the young woman any further he was rushed from the right side by a rather large zombie. This man must have been a hulk of a man while alive and he was no exception in the undead state. Izumi struggled with the zombie and the undead man eventually managed to tackle Izumi down. Izumi was able to hold him off from mauling him but this could go on for much longer. He snatched an arrow from his quiver and impaled the zombie’s throat with it. Izumi was able to kick the zombie of of him and in a few seconds the arrow detonated. Causing the zombie’s head to explode. Izumi quickly climbed to his feet. Who knew if there were more.

“You two! We had better make tracks or else this well become seriously aesthetically unappealing!” Izumi said in a voice still calm and only slightly under a yell.

The stupidity of others almost made Arella ashamed to be human. She had followed the noise and discovered a band of survivors, like her. Still... Trust was a rare commodity, and all of them seemed to be armed. One even had a bow, something that her little dagger would stand a snowball's chance in Hell against. So instead of marching up and introducing herself, like the well-dressed one had, she kept back, watching them from the cover of a nearby building. Of course, when the little kid wandered towards the store, she had to resist the urge to shout. That much food, out in the open like that... It was strange. And the strange was not to be trusted.

As usual, she was right. The store was a trap, though Arella couldn't help but wonder who had the time to set something like that up with all the Zs around. As much as she wanted to help (The poor people were out numbered) she knew that blindly rushing in during an attack was a surefire way to get killed. If one of them mistook her for a Z, she would be dead before she could say "hi". So she did what she did best- she stayed still and waited. But there was just so much food in that store... And you could never have enough. Not to mention that there was a packet of sugar wafers on one of the shelves. God, how long had it been since she's had one of those? As the fight raged on, Arella crept closer, ducking behind several upturned trashcans and wincing as several rats scurried away into the street. But no one seemed to notice.

"You two! We had better make tracks, or else this will become seriously aesthetically unpleasing!" The well-dressed one shouted. Now that she was closer, Arella could see that he was Korean, or something like that. Being politically correct had been dropped to the bottom of her priorities list once the dead began to walk. She moved closer, but at that moment a Z appeared from a nearby ally, it's mouth open and its rotting arms extending towards her. She shrieked and rolled away as it grabbed at her, managing to grasp the back of her jacket. Drawing her knife, she sliced off several of its fingers and wormed away. There was an iron bar on the ground next to her, and she grabbed it, swinging it at the Z's head. It faltered, and she struck again, stopping only when the corpse fell to the ground, unmoving.

"Frickin' Z." She cursed. Standing up straight, she dropped the bar, then turned. Everyone's eyes were on her, and the boy had his crossbow directed at her face. Quickly, she sheathed her knife, held up her hands in a gesture of surrender, and said the only thing that came to her mind.

"It's okay. I'm nice!"

James had stood a little ways off with Uncle Luke, not really paying attention. It was something he was doing more and more now and he knew it was foolish. If he spaced out and a zombie attacked him, he was dead or worse, infected. Nonetheless, he snapped out of it when he heard the radio in the distance and the telltale groan of the zombies.

"Today here, we have a band of survivors against a zombie hoard! Will humanity prevail? Or will the zombies increase in numbers!! Let's find out!"

"Fucking assholes!" he cursed, recognized the radio. What kind of sick bastard set up these traps anyway? He did not know, but it was a sad fact of life that although the zombies ended civilization, some humans were worse. He gripped his bat in one hand and held his pistol in another as he rushed over to the commotion. It seemed that the group had taken care of most of them and were unharmed, which was a relief. There was even a new girl. He raised an eyebrow, but before he cold say anything, another one rushed behind her back and he fired his pistol at its ankle, making it stumble before swinging his bat, breaking its neck.

"We need to leave. Now," he said shortly. He glanced at the new girl but said nothing. Introductions cold wait for later.

As others came to help, a zombie came out of nowhere and tackled him, biting and knowing at him. Derek used his forearm to block it while he stabbed it in the eye. He put two more arrows into the zombies, to help Jess. That is when the voice appeared again, this time using some sort of speaker system to make it impossible to pinpoint the exact location.

"Well well well. Looks like the survivors are surviving, if only barely. How to make this more fun...oh, I know. I can offer you a drink!"

Just then, although Derek could not see from where, Molotovs seemingly fell from the sky. Now, while fire seemed like it was a good idea against zombies, it wasn't. Not unless it burned them quick enough. In fact, it only made zombies more dangerous, because it was impossible to fight a flaming zombie close up. You would get burned or set in fire.

Derek had to resort to his arrows to deal with them. But this psychopath attacking them all was only going to make things worse. There were too many zombies to deal with, however.

He felt like shit though. So many zombies, they couldn't just keep up the fighting. He put two more zombies down, but his muscles were starting to ache. We need to get out of here...

Arella swore aloud when she was the Molotovs coming down on them.

"Who the frick has time to put together shit like this?!" she asked, jumping to the side to avoid one of the flaming bottles. The boy was taking them out the Zs with his arrows, but flaming corpses were much harder to deal with than the normal ones. She took up another iron bar and swung at an advancing Z. It fell, skull crushed, and she turned to the next one. Unfortunetly, this one was aflame, and she narrowly dodged having her hair scorched. "If we're going to survive this, we have to run, now!" she started off in the direction of one her favorite alleyways, but noticed that no one was following. They didn't trust her- and with good reason. She wouldn't trust a random person running down the street to keep her alive when there was potential loot to be had. "Look, if you want to live... You better keep up. You lot coming?"

Yagami Asakusa, Darren Evans

"You know, Mummy told me not to talk to strangers...." The man sniggered sharply, 'greeting' Yagami with a smirk. "Do I look like I have company to you?" He explained, giving a gesture of the lack of living by moving his palm. "You know I have heard guys like you taking survivors as unwilling test subjects, why should I trust you? Huh?"

Yagami raised his eyebrow inquisitively. This man was strange indeed. Yagami listened as Darren commented via Yagami’s ear piece, “I told you some of the people you’ll encounter aren’t all there in the head Yagami. However ask him what he knows about these kidnappings and experiments he’ mentioned.”

“I understand your apprehension in trusting me. But what you said about people testing on survivors is news to me. No one has been allowed authorized entry into this country for about five years now. Proposition 54 was just passed yesterday. So anyone who’s entered this country between five years ago and yesterday, without authorization, is suspect. What have you heard regarding this, do you know anything more?” Yagami asked the man standing before him.

Darren pondered the situation further. It seemed that the missile attacks on United States that caused the Z-Virus outbreak might not have simply been an act of desperation by Terrorists but a preliminary to bio-chemical testing.

Izumi Tachikawa

There was so much going on. Izumi noticed a fragment of a zombie’s skull lying on the ground. In the heat of the moment he quickly placed the fragment on a small carry case for samples that he was to collect. Given that there was so much happening around them, no one would have noticed his quick movement to collect the fragment and conceal it, the others had their own problems to deal with.

Another young woman found herself stumbling into the mix. Izumi pointed his crossbow at the young lady only initially. One could never be too sure if what was coming at you was a zombie of not until proper inspection was given. When the young woman spoke saying, "It's okay. I'm nice!"

Izumi lifted his crossbow from being pointed at her and apologized. “Sorry about that. One can never be too careful wouldn’t you agree?” Izumi flashed the young woman a quick smirk. To most others, Izumi was like a cat, seemingly always displaying some sense of balance in a situation.

Izumi then heard the voice over the speaker sound once more. "Well well well. Looks like the survivors are surviving, if only barely. How to make this more fun...oh, I know. I can offer you a drink!" The voice rang out from many different directions.

Izumi frowned for the first time since touching down in the zombie infested land. “Someone’s definitely playing a sick and twisted game here.” He said. He knew Simmons hadn’t set something like this up. It was far too contrary to his style of doing things. Simmons would also never put Izumi in such a situation without having carefully planned things out with him. Whoever was behind this was becoming a high priority for investigation. Molotovs fell from the air as the zombies that remained continued to attack.

Izumi saw the young boy taking action and firing arrows at the zombies. “Isn’t he quick on his feet? I like that.” Izumi said quietly to himself. Izumi also began to fire at the burning zombies with cross bow bolts. Their numbers didn’t seem to decrease much. This wasn’t going to end well if they didn’t run.

"Who the frick has time to put together shit like this?!" the second young woman asked, jumping to the side to avoid one of the flaming bottles.

“One sick bastard.” Izumi replied as he took out a black handgun and fired shots at the burning zombies that attacked them. Izumi felt it was safe to use the gun now seeing that there was already so much noise about at the moment, it didn’t really make much of a difference to try to be silent or not.

"If we're going to survive this, we have to run, now!" she started off in the direction of one her favorite alleyways, but noticed that no one was following. "Look, if you want to live... You better keep up. You lot coming?" the brunette said to the group.

Izumi looked over in her direction, “You can count me in. I have no further intention to continue playing this lunatic’s game.” Izumi then turned to the others. “I think we’d benefit by sticking together with situations like this possibly occurring again. You’d be wise to make a run for it too.” Izumi then followed the young woman. He stopped to see if the others were following as well. He didn’t want to leave anyone behind.

"Well well well. Looks like the survivors are surviving, if only barely. How to make this more fun...oh, I know. I can offer you a drink!" the voice shouted and Jessica's eyes widen as fire rained down on them . "Dammit all!" She barked as she ran through the burning zombies. She grabbed up Derek, he was beginning to look very weak. She toss him over her shoulder and started out the exit just as a brunette shouted out "Look, if you want to live... You better keep up. You lot coming?"

Jessica didn't need to be told twice as she followed the girl along. She ran as fast as she could before her legs gave out, thankfully she and Derek were a good ways away.
She set him down and caught her breath. "What in the good fuck was that all about?" She panted, " You okay, Dee?" She asked him, then signed it. He wasn't deaf, she knew that but with all the chaos that was going on, she wouldn't be surprised if he was now. She checked for bite marks and an other injuries. Nothing. Thank God.
"All Clear."

Derek, clear of zombies, continued to pick them off from afar, as well as retrieving several arrows he fired. However, he momentairily panicked when someone picked him up. Luckily he realized it was Jess before he kicked her in the face. However, he couldn't help but vomit a little. He was half upside down and moving. Not a good combo. He managed to not vomit on Jess at least though.

When she put him down, she checked herself for bitemarks. He looked around, to see if any zombies were present, but he couldn't see any. He put his knife away, and felt some pain in his arm. He extended it to look at it. There was blood on it. His blood. He was bitten. (Kinda what happens when you get swarmed by zombies. He isn't some super elite commando with armor. Oh well, time for backup character I guess. >.>)

He backed away from the rest of the group whether they had noticed or not. He quickly reached for his knife, but before he could he started convulsing.

He fell to the floor, convulsing and spazzing out of control. This was the second stage of the infection. The first was fatigue and muscle aches. The second stage was the spazzing, convulsing, and healing. It's why crippled people who were infected were able to walk and run so well. The spazzing and convulsing were just side affects of the rapid healing. It healed every part of your body before the second part of the virus activated.

(Taking a bit from what you wrote in Izumi's history for this part)

There were two parts of the virus. The first part, on it's own, was beneficial and helpful. It healed. The second part is the weapon. It turned people into monsters. However, the second part is useless without the first part. On its own, the second part of the virus can't spread from human to human. It was also far more likely to be rooted out and destroyed by common white blood cells, turning it from a 100% chance of infection to a 20% chance. And it would be unable to spread effectively.

And now came the third stage. Death. Derek was dead on the ground, lifeless. Sure, the virus would bring him back, but his heart would not beat, and his lungs would not take breath. And soon, the forth stage would come.

Derek shot up off the ground. And he took a breath. (Wait, wut? 'Baaane, you said he was dead!'. No. Go back and read. I said he got swarmed by zombies. Didn't say anything about death).

This was impossible. Derek was clearly infected. His wounds healed. He even died. He should be a zombie. But instead, he had come back to life. His wounds were healed. He was back to full health. Oddly enough, he still seemed to be unable to speak. But how? What made him so special that he was immune?

Simple. Genetics. He had a random part of his genetic code, that maybe five people total have in the world. This one random bit of genetic code, hidden in the junk DNA, made his body produce a very specific white blood cell. Now, this white blood cell was useless really. It didn't do anything. Or, at least it didn't used to. But when the virus was released, it's purpose was revealed. This particular white blood cell destroyed only the second part of the infection. The weapon. It made the virus what it was originally supposed to be. A way to heal others. The first time someone with this white blood cell would be infected, they would stay dead for about an hour. The next time, a few seconds. After that, it would just heal them, getting less painful each time.

Of course, no one knew this. It would be a surprise for them. But more importantly, Derek was immune. It made him the most valuable person of the group for several reasons. Being immune, he should be the one to enter buildings first and open the doors, because if he got bit, no problem. He wouldn't die. Hell, he would be healed. If you injected him with blood from a zombie, it would heal him.

Secondly, it made him valuable because he could be used to find a cure, or at least a vaccination. No more becoming infected. The humans could retake their cities, go deeper into compounds, go into more zombie infested areas. Of course, theoretically, it could also be used to find a way to control the zombies and effectively use them as a weapon. But that could only lead to abuse of power, tyranny, and suffering, because it would only take one man obsessed with greed or power to do this, and who wants that? No one good, that is for sure.

As Derek looked at everyone, only one thought raced through his mind. Why the fuck am I not dead?

(That was a big one. Whew)

Jessica Matthews
Not Gonna Get Us- TaTu

ImageJessica watched in horror as Derek looked at his arm.

"no." She said, shaking her head. "no no no no no..." She said again and tears started streaming down her face. "Oh Dee, No..." She said as she moved toward him. He moved back and dropped them down to the ground, convulsing. She walked up to him, she was a nurse, she knew what she should do, in case of a seizure. She turned him on his side but then he went still. Too Still. Jessica let off a horrified scream as she dropped her head on his chest.

That was it, She was going to kill herself. She couldn't survive without Derek. He was her reason to continue but with him gone, there was no need.

She'd kill them both, She wouldn't let him turn. He didn't deserve that. She moved her head to the side of his, tears streaming down her face still. "I'm Sorry, Dee." She sobbed and grabbed her tanto, She would stab through her head and his, killing them both permanently. Just as she rose her hand, Derek popped up and Jessica rolled onto her back. Her eyes were wide.

"Dee?" She peeped. If he turned, she's still continued her trip to Hell but the look on his face was very alive and very Derek. She smiled through her tears and didn't give a damn how or why, she had her kid back. He was confused but she didn't care at this point.

"I don't know, Dee, I don't know, and I don't care!" She cried and pulled him into a hug and held him tight and sobbed in relief. "You almost left me, Kiddo..." She whimpered softly. "You scared me..." She said, so low that only he would hear.

Arella watched as the boy sat back up, and the black-haired girl embraced him tightly. She was so sure that he had been bitten- and a bite meant death. But there he was, tears welling up in his eyes and looking very much alive. Everyone was gathering in a cluster, watching as the boy got to his feet. The relieved expression on his companion's face made Arella smile a little, but the loud groan of a zombie distracted her and she gripped the handle of the knife.

"The kid is fine, But if we don't keep moving, none of us will be alive for much longer." she started back down the alley, aware of the group as they followed. The Zs were coming, quickly, and her gaze lit upon a disused, but rather sturdy looking fire escape. "Let's get to high ground." She hoisted herself up onto a discarded crate and leapt for the ladder. She caught the very last rusted metal rung, and the ladder clanked as it descended. "Everyone, up, now!" she said, waving the rest of the group forward. Scooping up a large stone, she hurled it at an approaching Z, and the corpse fell back. The boy was the last up the ladder, and Arella managed a glance at his arm. There was a bite mark, clear as day, still bloody. It made no sense. By all accounts, the boy should already be a Z, undead and craving their flesh. But as he scrabbled up onto the first level after the others, his movements were fluid and alive, nothing like the jerky motions of the Zs amassing at the mouth of the alley. Arella pulled herself up onto the platform and started to haul the ladder back up into place.

"We can get through the building. There's an abandoned apartment next door that I know for sure is safe." She glanced at the window next to her. She couldn't see into the building past all of the grime and dirt, but she thought she could hear the shuffling of corpses inside. "There shouldn't be too many Zs in here... If we get past them, it's a straight shot next door." Arella looked at the group- everyone was ragged and looked exhausted, but they still had the flames of a fight burning in their eyes. "Do you think that we can do this?" She asked.

Izumi Tachikawa

Izumi watched closely as it was discovered that Derek had been bitten. The dark haired young woman was in great distress as she should be. Anyone bitten by a zombie was fated to become one. But the boy’s symptoms were drastically different. He was showing signs of the vaccine that Izumi originally created before the virus was affixed to it. Izumi smiled as this boy had proven that there was indeed hope of counteracting the virus. Perhaps Izumi had a chance to make things right. But that all depended on protecting this child.

Another thought crossed Izumi’s mind, that was Simmons
If Simmons found out about Derek, he’d want to procure him and either test on him to create an even stronger and deadlier virus or kill the boy so that no one could produce a cure for it. Izumi realized that he needed to keep the kid safe but that wouldn’t be easy due to the boy’s obvious lack of trust in everyone but the dark haired woman. Izumi decided to keep this little miracle from Simmons’ attention for now. Who knows if there are other survivors that are similar to Derek’s case.

The Zombies poured into the ally and they needed an escape. As the others climbed up the fire escape Izumi grappled up to the top of the fire escape. The brunet informed the group that she knew of a safe place. However there was still a little fighting ahead before they reach said place. Izumi wasn’t so bad off from the last scuffle so he was alright to continue. “I’m fine to continue forward.” Izumi said with a quick smile. He turned toward Derek, “You’re one walking miracle if I’ve ever saw one young man. With blood like that running through you, you could be the answer to a lot of this insanity. However don’t think you can sail easy. Just because you can’t be turned doesn’t mean you can’t be killed. Just don’t become careless okay.” Izumi said to Derek gently as he smiled. Derek sparked a bit of hope in Izumi that he had not felt in some time.

Izumi also did not forget his other task and that was to test out another strand of the Z-virus on a few survivors. On him he carried a few syringes that held strands of the 2nd stage Z-Virus. These would turn any human into something far worse than any normal zombie. It would most likely be far more grotesque and deadly. Izumi himself didn’t know what exactly would happen. He really hated that he had to administer such a disgusting thing to anyone but his arm was still being twisted by his lover Fredrick Simmons. One thing Izumi decided was that he would not use the test formulas on the group he was traveling with and try his best to look after them. However anyone that tried to cross the group would find themselves a more suitable candidate for monster-hood.

Izumi pulled out his hand held computer and began typing a message. “It looks like someone is toying with the survivors in a very sick way here. We were set up and someone’s audible voice presented the situation via recording like a game show challenge. You didn’t have anything to do with this did you Simmons? If so, I might have to rebel a bit.” Izumi sent the message.

Simmons’ reply was prompt. “Unfortunately my love that was not of my doing so you must be extra careful from here on out. It seems other forces are at work here. Whoever set that up must be trying to run their own experiments on the survivors, the more bitten the easier it is to find an anomaly among them. Was anyone bitten in the group Izumi?” Simmons asked in the message.

Izumi thought for a second. Should he lie to Simmons or be honest and risk making Derek into a target? “No, everyone made it out without a scratch fortunately. Sorry Love.” Izumi opted to lie to Simmons about Derek’s bite.

“Alright. Remain as vigilant as always kitten. I shall make my appearance to the BCMO’s Canadian Headquarters and set up phase two. I love you Izumi.” The messages deleted promptly and Izumi continued onward with the group. Things would become more difficult than he originally figured they would it seems.

Derek was at a loss for words still. Granted he couldn't speak still, which annoyed him, because everything else healed (even the slight pain in his foot he had been ignoring for the past week). However, Izumi was partially right. Derek could never be turned, by the virus or any of it's spin off strains. However, it did make it harder to kill him in a way. He can never die to zombies, not unless they completely devoured him. He could still die though to gunshots and what not, though if he was injected with infected blood soon enough after death, it could revive him. Derek wasn't immortal, but he had a far better hence then anyone else in the group. Seeing as how he did not have symbols for half the things he wanted to say, he took out his notebook, flipped to the last page, and wrote something, and showed it to them. "So apparently I am immune to the virus. In fact, it healed everything except my voice. So apparently the virus heals me. Now, can we get out of here before this guy tries to kill us again?"

The silence was soon broken again by the psycho. "What the...what the fuck! You got bit! You were infected! Why the fuck are you not dead?! You're supposed to be dead boy! You cheated! No one cheats in my competitions! No one fucking cheats me!! You know what happens to fucking cheaters?! They get eliminated!! Fucking cheater!!! You are getting eliminated!!"

Whoever this psychopath was, it seemed Derek's immunity drove him further insane. Derek took out his bow, and loaded an arrow. He wasn't able to get them all back from before however, so he only had 34 now. He could not see this guy, but he quickly realized they were out in the open on a roof, and he could attack from anywhere. We need to move, quickly...

Yagami Asakusa, Darren Evans

Yagami listened to the young man as they stood on the rooftop. This guy was somewhat strange. He should have taken Darren’s warning a bit more seriously. However he took it to heart now.

"Of course I don't trust you, you just wandered up to me with a formal creepy introduction and not even so much as a casual hello. You called me Sir for god’s sake. I don't care if this is your job you just make me want to vomit." Tyler explained to the Yagami with a growl. He then began to chew on a mint leaf he always kept in his back pocket.

"Are you saying that I should not trust anyone? Now that is talking some sense." Tyler chuckled darkly. "I have seen people be taken in white vans, and that is what passed friends told me they were doing with the victims. I don't know anything more and I never followed the vans. I don't know what is worse... being cut up and experimented on or being walking dead." The young man said.

"My name is Tyler Jackson. If I came with you, where would you take me?" Tyler asked.

Yagami replied. “Let me start over. Hi I’m Yagami Asakusa, you can call me Yagami. Nice to meet you Tyler. Thanks for the information you shared with me.” Yagami sighed and then looked up at Tyler. “It’s not that I’m saying you can’t trust anyone but simply be careful of anyone who says that they’ve entered the quarantine area during the time that it was closed off from the outside world. I’m here to find survivors like you rescue them. If you went with me, we would search around for others and then head to the extraction point where we’d be taken to the BCMO labs. There you’d be inspected for possible infection and then you’d be released in a program that helps to rebuild your life to normalcy. You shouldn’t worry about the virus inspection, I had gone through it myself when I escaped the bombings. It’s not so bad.”

The two began to head across the rooftops. As the two walked Yagami thought he had better explain the floating metal orb that followed him about. “Oh yeah, this small floating metal orb is a com device that allows my partner, Agent Darren Evans to see what’s going on around me and he communicates with me as well. So if I’m talking into my ear piece that’s what going on. So no need for alarm.” Yagami spotted another group of people a little ways away. They didn’t look like zombies but Yagami had not encountered the zombies since he escaped the US with Darren and Darren’s family five years ago. “It seems there are other survivors up ahead. Let’s meet up with them shall we.”

Yagami and Tyler caught up with the group and tried to flag their attention. However they heard a loud voice over some form of loud speaker.

Yagami was cautious and held his arm out in front of Tyler signaling that they shouldn’t approach any further until they scoped things out. “I don’t know who or what’s going on but it doesn’t sound like something we want to rush into blindly. Can you defend yourself well? We may be in for a fight Tyler.” Yagami said while scanning the situation before him. Yagami cocked his gun and prepared for trouble.
