ImageImageImageYou know when you watch those brainless little shits tear apart the world you live in? Most people fall apart and find the whole situation something of a catastrophe. Me on the other hand, I find it the most interesting thing that has ever happened in my pitiful excuse of a life. Call me sick in the head, but I'm not exactly hating what I am experiencing right now. Its somewhat sad that I feel just as comfortable as I did do at home in a world where the dead are rising. Not that my home life matters anymore, not that anything matters anymore. Do you want to know why? Cause everything is a fucking mess.

My name is Tyler Jackson, I hope you can tell I'm a guy and around 19 years old. I could say that I used to be a student but to earn such a title you would need to want to learn in school, which I never really did. Its clear that I was heading to a future of nothing but shit anyway, so I guess this occurrence has really ended up in my favour. It does not matter if I die or not, I am insignificant and I like it that way. I might be sounding a little depressive here, but that's really not the impression I wish to give to the thick ass who has decided to take their own precious time to read this.

It does not take a genius to work out that it is clear that my time in the house was not exactly the greatest. My Dad was abusive and a alcoholic, my mother, a useless waste of air with more mental issues than the amount of cigarettes she smoked in a day. Once I found out about this so called disease, I took a crow bar and smashed my so called Father over the head while he was lying against the wall; drink being his antistatic. Revenge you could call it. I could not stand another day watching someone as defenceless as her get beaten and I know I swear I can still feel some of the bruises he gave me. Surprisingly at that point I realised I had a conscience, and for the first time since I can remember tears slid from my eyes. I apologised to Mum, who gave a wordless response before leaving a few days later. She's more than likely dead now, and when I hang onto the thought that its my own fault she is, I feel my conscience slowly coming back to me.

Like I said. That's in the past.

Augustus Taylor. Heh. He is in the past too. He's also more than likely roaming the streets right now with his body all tangled up like those walkers. That's the reason why my life is so insignificant now. I don't have the one guy who made me feel more than dirt at your ankles. Maybe id put more effort into making it through this if I had one person who gave a shit...like Gussy.

So begins...

Tyler found himself with his legs dangerously hanging over the ledge on the rooftop of a old abandoned store that he had recently just checked. The place had been wiped clean from food and other supplies and so he was forced to leave the building more or less empty handed apart from a useless pair of garden pliers. He sighed lowering his head with a grunt of disappointment.

With a sharp inhale of his cigarette he glared out into the surrounding area around him. The place only had one or two of the wandering dead hanging around every few blocks but it was still rather unsafe to go sprinting around on the ground like a rabbit asking to be eaten by a pack of wolves.

That's why Tyler often turned to the rooftops. He described himself as a bit of a free runner but apart from that he was useless in this excuse of a "new world". The youth could easily leap from rooftop to rooftop and climb drain pipes and find a root up some cracks in a wall. You could also give him a baseball bat and he'd easily defend himself against one or two zombies. However, give the guy a map, a strategy to follow or just simply a tin opener and he would be unable to complete the simplest task. It was not mostly down to his idiocy, just to his lack effort.

Lack of purpose.

"Fucking scum..." He mumbled, giving a last glance to the hoard of dead stumbling down the road after what sounded like to be a gun shot in the distance. It seemed that now, even ages after the outbreak, people did not understand how they worked and hunted. Of course Tyler was not willing to help out who ever this fool was, not that he could say anything about idiocy.

Natural selection huh?

Yagami Asakusa

Image

Yagami sat at his desk using his computer to access the satellite footage of the remains of the United States. The BCMO’s [Bio-terrorism Counter Measure Organization’s] new North American branch was now located in Canada where only few cities had been infected with the Virus. He had been awaiting orders to mount a search and rescue for any survivors. The politicians and the government that remained took too long deliberating and trying to make a decision regarding the fate of the survivors left to fend for themselves in the Unites States, five years too long. Finally a decision was made.

“Agent Asakusa, you have new orders. I think you’ll finally be happy about these sir.” Darren Evans, BCMO analyst said as he handed Yagami a file. He smiled as Yagami opened it up and began reading the contents. “It took forever but the bill was passed. You’re being deployed tomorrow.” Darren continued.

Yagami was shocked to see that the BCMO had finally received the OK to rescue survivors from the death trap that became the United States of America. If there were any survivors they now had hope. Yagami could have shed tears of joy. He had been angry at the lack of care taken to rescue others. Politicians argued over issues of the spread of the infection by bringing survivors into safe zones, population control during the relocation process as well as other issues. Yagami felt it all was bullshit. The bottom line was the people were in desperate need of salvation from that zombie infested hell and the people in power didn’t respond fast enough.

“Is this real Darren? Please tell me this isn’t a sick joke?” Yagami looked up at Darren in disbelief.

“It’s real Yagami. If you’ve need further proof, check my orders. I’ll be your tech support. I’ll be working round the clock to keep a satellite monitor on you and provide you with intel during your mission.” Darren replied with a proud smile.

Yagami stood from his chair and patted Darren on the back. “Thank god! I’ll get prepped immediately. These people waited 5 years. I’ve got not another minute to spare.” Yagami said as he headed toward the supply and weapons bay. He paused, and turned to face Darren. “Darren, I’m sure you know something else. What is it? Don’t try to shield me from it.” Yagami added.

“You know me too well Sir. Well the intelligence team is still verifying its findings but it’s been speculated that the United States is being used as a testing ground for Bio-chemical warfare development. It’s believed by the higher ups that stronger strands of the Z-Virus are currently in development but where and by whom exactly is still undetermined. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on my findings as you’re in the field. I promise.” Darren replied.

Yagami stepped closer to Darren and whispered discreetly, “Thanks, and keep your eyes and ears attentive around here. I’m under the impression that our superiors are hiding things. Someone knows something around here so watch your back when I’m gone. Okay Darren?” Yagami was very concerned for his friend.

“Rodger that partner. But I’m more concerned for you. You’ll be out there fighting those things. And let’s face it I know that the typical type of infected is not the only thing of danger out there. I’m sure there are further mutated out there so be careful. I don’t want to have to engage in a rescue mission for you too.” Darren replied.

The next day rolled in and Yagami was transpoted into the former United States of America. He looked down from the helicopter at the life deserted streets and crumbling buildings. The plant life had begun to reclaim the land that was once its own. It was a scary sight, and a frightening reality. The helicopter hovered over a few rooftops and Yagami spotted a man sitting on one of the rooftops. “A survivor…” Yagami said in an intrigued tone.

Darren sat next to Yagami in the Helicopter, his portable database propped on his lap. “This is as far as I can go Yagami. Keep your communicator on at all times. It goes dead and I’ll come running after you. So just make sure it doesn’t happen. You’ve got to make it to the extraction point to be picked up. There is apparently a colony of survivors according to intel. Please investigate it and we’ll try to rescue everyone there after you report back on the number of people there. You can start the count with that guy on the roof.” Darren explained.

“Rodger that Agent Evans.” Yagami said with a smirk.

“Oh and don’t forget. These people have changed and won’t trust you so easily. I know you really want to help them, but there will be those you will try to victimize you. It’ll be hard but please don’t be afraid to kill a human if it means keeping them from killing you. I know it sounds harsh but…” Darren was interrupted by Yagami

“I know, Darren. Look I understand. I’ll drop my blind hope in humanity if one of them tries to kill me. I better go. The longer this helicopter sticks around the more infected will be drawn to the noise. Take care and I’ll keep in touch.” Yagami replied.

Yagami was lowered down to one of the rooftops. He pulled a tiny metal orb from his pocket. After pressing a button on the orb it began to hover in the air around Yagami. “Testing Nano-Scout. Darren are you getting the video feed alright?”

The com-device beeped quietly as Darren responded, “Yes, I have a full 360 view. All satellites ins the region that are at my command can scan the immediate vicinity of where you are. So if you need intel on an area I can scout it out for you using Nano-Scout. Oh and Yagami, don’t break my robot. Agent Darren Evans out.”

Yagami smirked as he watched the helicopter ascend further into the air. He watched as it went further out of view. Yagami turned toward the direction in which he saw the young man seated on the roof. It was only a few rooftops away. Yagami made his way toward the young man’s location and just as he came into sight a gunshot fired in the distance. Yagami scanned the area with his eyes. He saw no one but the young man. He decided to announce himself instead of walking up on the young man.

“Um excuse me sir. Are you alright? I’m Agent Yagami Asakusa of the Bio-chemical Counter Measures Organization’s Japanese Branch. Under the guidelines of ‘Proposition 54: Survivor Search and Rescue Act’, I’m here on a search and rescue mission for survivors of the Z-Virus bombings. Are you alone?” Yagami explained to the man. He hated giving such a lengthy announcement and explanation but protocol was supposed to be followed. However before he allowed his tongue to fall off from saying the long greeting too many tomes, he’d chuck the protocol and simplify it.

Tyler inhaled a strong breath of his cigarette and began exhaling strong puffed patterns of looped smoke. He could have labelled this as entertainment. He then tossed the butt over the edge onto the road below before lazily standing up to leave. In the distance, he heard the purr of some kind of vehicle that he could not really be bothered to pay attention to, and so continued onwards to leap and grasp onto the near by garage with his fingertips.

With great upper arm strength he yanked his body up onto the ledge, with a grunt due to strain on his hands. He swore he was losing his skills; about a month ago he could have even jumped the gap with out having to catch. Tyler was able to add this to his list of reasons to not survive.

Of course another thing on that list was his lack of ability to hear people approaching. One day that would cost him.

Are you alone?”

Sir...?

Tyler turned around sharply to find a dark haired male addressing him from the rooftop he had just leapt from. He gave him a puzzled and rather rude expression before falling into silence. The youth tried to go over what he had just said, plucking out pieces of information that included he was from some Japanese organisation and here pick up the stragglers.

His very formal and confident greeting made Tyler uneasy, not that he would admit that. "You know, Mummy told he not to talk to strangers...." He sniggered sharply, 'greeting' the man with a smirk. "Do I look like I have company to you?" He explained, giving a gesture of the lack of living by moving his palm. "You know I have heard guys like you taking survivors as unwilling test subjects, why should I trust you? Huh?"

Yagami Asakusa, Darren Evans

"You know, Mummy told me not to talk to strangers...." The man sniggered sharply, 'greeting' Yagami with a smirk. "Do I look like I have company to you?" He explained, giving a gesture of the lack of living by moving his palm. "You know I have heard guys like you taking survivors as unwilling test subjects, why should I trust you? Huh?"

Yagami raised his eyebrow inquisitively. This man was strange indeed. Yagami listened as Darren commented via Yagami’s ear piece, “I told you some of the people you’ll encounter aren’t all there in the head Yagami. However ask him what he knows about these kidnappings and experiments he’ mentioned.”

“I understand your apprehension in trusting me. But what you said about people testing on survivors is news to me. No one has been allowed authorized entry into this country for about five years now. Proposition 54 was just passed yesterday. So anyone who’s entered this country between five years ago and yesterday, without authorization, is suspect. What have you heard regarding this, do you know anything more?” Yagami asked the man standing before him.

Darren pondered the situation further. It seemed that the missile attacks on United States that caused the Z-Virus outbreak might not have simply been an act of desperation by Terrorists but a preliminary to bio-chemical testing.

Izumi Tachikawa

There was so much going on. Izumi noticed a fragment of a zombie’s skull lying on the ground. In the heat of the moment he quickly placed the fragment on a small carry case for samples that he was to collect. Given that there was so much happening around them, no one would have noticed his quick movement to collect the fragment and conceal it, the others had their own problems to deal with.

Another young woman found herself stumbling into the mix. Izumi pointed his crossbow at the young lady only initially. One could never be too sure if what was coming at you was a zombie of not until proper inspection was given. When the young woman spoke saying, "It's okay. I'm nice!"

Izumi lifted his crossbow from being pointed at her and apologized. “Sorry about that. One can never be too careful wouldn’t you agree?” Izumi flashed the young woman a quick smirk. To most others, Izumi was like a cat, seemingly always displaying some sense of balance in a situation.

Izumi then heard the voice over the speaker sound once more. "Well well well. Looks like the survivors are surviving, if only barely. How to make this more fun...oh, I know. I can offer you a drink!" The voice rang out from many different directions.

Izumi frowned for the first time since touching down in the zombie infested land. “Someone’s definitely playing a sick and twisted game here.” He said. He knew Simmons hadn’t set something like this up. It was far too contrary to his style of doing things. Simmons would also never put Izumi in such a situation without having carefully planned things out with him. Whoever was behind this was becoming a high priority for investigation. Molotovs fell from the air as the zombies that remained continued to attack.

Izumi saw the young boy taking action and firing arrows at the zombies. “Isn’t he quick on his feet? I like that.” Izumi said quietly to himself. Izumi also began to fire at the burning zombies with cross bow bolts. Their numbers didn’t seem to decrease much. This wasn’t going to end well if they didn’t run.

"Who the frick has time to put together shit like this?!" the second young woman asked, jumping to the side to avoid one of the flaming bottles.

“One sick bastard.” Izumi replied as he took out a black handgun and fired shots at the burning zombies that attacked them. Izumi felt it was safe to use the gun now seeing that there was already so much noise about at the moment, it didn’t really make much of a difference to try to be silent or not.

"If we're going to survive this, we have to run, now!" she started off in the direction of one her favorite alleyways, but noticed that no one was following. "Look, if you want to live... You better keep up. You lot coming?" the brunette said to the group.

Izumi looked over in her direction, “You can count me in. I have no further intention to continue playing this lunatic’s game.” Izumi then turned to the others. “I think we’d benefit by sticking together with situations like this possibly occurring again. You’d be wise to make a run for it too.” Izumi then followed the young woman. He stopped to see if the others were following as well. He didn’t want to leave anyone behind.

This guy seemed way to formal to even provoke any kind of respect inside Tyler. On the other hand, one side of him was most certainly missing company but this odd stranger was unable to throw him a 'hey what's up?' or even speak with a normal tone of voice. He was not compatible for a alliance with a youth like Tyler.

What have you heard regarding this, do you know anything more?”

"Of course I don't trust you, you just wandered up to me with a formal creepy introduction and not even so much as a casual hello. You called me Sir for gods sake. I don't care if this is your job you just make me want to vomit." Tyler explained to the man with a growl. He then began to chew on a mint leaf he always kept in his back pockets, which could not have been too safe as nobody new what the z virus was exactly able to harm.

"Are you saying that I should not trust anyone? Now that is talking some sense." Tyler chuckled darkly. "I have seen people be taken in white vans, and that is what passed friends told me they were doing with the victims. I don't know anything more and I never followed the vans. I don't know what is worse... being cut up and experimented on or being walking dead."

"My name is Tyler Jackson. If I came with you, where would you take me?"
