Introduction

Philip Sweetwood turned his family's estate in the English country side into a Mental Hospital when his daughter Eliza May was diagnosed with Schizophrenia at age twelve. Now it is a private mental hospital for mentally insane or unstable teens with disorders like Eliza May's.

Penelope Cartwright, age 17-TAKEN (by bandgeek)- :
Penelope has Insomnia. She almost never sleeps, which results in her constant state of delusion. She often talks to herself and does peculiar things normal people wouldn't ever do. She also swears to her doctor that she see's Gregory- her twin brother who died when they were fourteen from a drunk driving accident. When doctors started giving her sleeping pills, she would hide them and once she had enough tried to kill herself. Now she just deals with the lack of sleep while the doctors try to please her wealthy parents by keeping her on sedatives at times. She has been a resident of Sweetwood for six months.

Addison Thyme, age 15- TAKEN (by GM)- :
Addison has a disorder not yet classified, but she is often referred to as the Sweetwood Amnesiac. Ever since a traumtizing event when she was seven years old, Addison began to act like a mentally retarded amnesiac. She had difficulty remembering everything from where her bedroom was to her own name, and she also began to show symptoms of mental retardation. After dozens of doctors and therapists, it was decided she had compound Mental Retardation Amnesia- a term developed for her case. By the time she was nine years old, her rich bitch of a mother (famous British movie star Jessica Thyme) dropped her at Sweetwood where she is now observed by doctors and therapists.

Cecil Quinn, age 18- TAKEN (by Purpl3_Flam3s)- :
Do not touch Cecil. She has an extreme fear of any sort of physical contact what so ever. After being raped when she was twelve years old, violently, by her step father, she developed an extreme fear of physical contact. The slightest touch sends her into a panic attack in which she screams, thrashes around violently, and in some cases even loses consciousness. Her father, the Governor of California, brought her to Sweetwood when she was fifteen and regularly visits her when she is in stable condition.

Eddison Blane, age 17- OPEN- :
When he was six years old his mother was murdered mysteriously. His father soon married another woman who detested Eddison with a fiery passion. Eddison's father turned to alcohol and soon started to abuse Eddison to a point where he began to hate himself because of the hate his father and step mother poured onto him. Eddison has a combination OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and mental depression. He harms himself in a sickly clean and organized way. He was sent to Sweetwood by a concerned distant relative and only arrived one week ago.

Grantus (Grant) McBride, age 19- TAKEN (by Naught)- :
Nobody knows quite what is wrong with Grant. He's an orphan. He has been in twenty eight different foster homes in sixteen years. He is a very peculiar character. He likes dead things a little too much. Every time he changed foster homes, he immediately ran off to find the nearest town cemetery. He gets into trouble and talks to himself a lot, always acting jittery and nervous. He's been in five different mental hospitals since he was sixteen. His latest foster parents, a rich socialite couple from New York City, sent him to Sweetwood where he has been for almost a year and a half.

James Talon, age 19- TAKEN (by jakomocha)- :
James is hard to explain. He doesn't talk. One day when he was nine years old he just stopped talking. He has Selective Mutism. His parents have tried everything from speech therapists to bribery to get their son to speak again, but nothing works. When Sweetwood was presented to them as an option, they pounced on it. James has now been a resident for two years.

I giggled uncontrollably as I ran from the research room with my camera in hand. That lady with the strange eyes was going to go on my Curiosities wall. I could hear her trying to catch up to me as I turned a corner and ended up in the resident's hall. I dashed into the room with the words:

ADDISON THYME

Scrawled all over the door in sharpie. I slammed and locked the door behind me, giggling like a crazy person. You are crazy... I think to myself. "No I'm not!" I protest. "I just forget things. I am completely..." I look around the room with confusion. "Who was I talking to?" I look at the object in my hand and see the picture of the weird looking lady win white from the research room. I scowl and it falls to the floor as I raise my Polaroid to face myself. There's a click and a flash and out comes a photograph.

I reach over to the table next to me and take a thumb tack. Turning to the wall behind me, I balance on the balls of my feet as a strand of hair falls into my face and I scan the wall for a blank space. Seeing a small space where green paint peeks out from where several pictures overlap, I climb up on the table and tack the newest picture over the space. Jumping down, I stare at the ongoing masterpiece I started.... when did I start doing this?

Glancing around, I notice a box on my window seat. Oh yay! Did I put this here? I don't remember... Skipping over, I open the box and sigh. Now I remember. I did put this here. This is just my film box. Placing the box on the floor, I reach into my pocket and pull out a sharpie. When did I put that in there? Shrugging, I uncap it and sit on my knees on the window seat, doodling nonsense on the walls. Suddenly there's a knock on the door.

"Addison? Are you in there?" someone calls. Addison? Whose Addison?

"Sorry, no Addison here! Just..." I trail off. What is my name? Someone swears from the hallway, I hear shouting.

"Who the hell keeps giving her a key to her door!?" someone bellows. Yes, I would like to know that too. I sit on the bed peacefully and begin to giggle. Am I crazy?

Pen sat at the top her bed, legs crossed underneath her as she appeared to be speaking to someone sitting at the end of her bed. "Greg, I told you that you shouldn't have gone to that party," her eyes were beginning to red as tears filled in them, though none fell. It was almost three AM, and it was only times like this that she saw her brother. Baby sister, you'll be okay without me. I know going to that party was... the stupidest thing I've ever done. I shouldn't have left you. Only a few tears fell from her eyes, though it was then that her brother slowly began to vanish. The girl reached her hand out to try and touch him, though when he was completely gone she let her hand drop. It landed on her guitar now, which she remembered setting down when her brother had arrived. With a sigh, she picked it up again.

And all I can taste is this moment/And all I can breathe is your life/'Coz sooner or later it's over/I just don't want to miss you tonight

Her voice was soft and beautiful, though not loud enough to carry outside of her room. Only guitar music could be heard, and soon a nurse peeked into her room and asked her to put the guitar down. With a small nod she did, continuing to hum quietly as she went to her desk. On her desk was a single sketchbook, a drawer inside the desk held all of her sketch pencils and colors, and there was a light hanging from the ceiling that she turned on if the big light was too bright for her eyes. Flicking the switch, she summoned up an image of her brother and began to draw.

By the time she heard Addison running past her room, she was just finished her sketch. It was completely black and white, like most of her pictures. Sometimes she felt the need to pin these up on her wall, but never had she actually done so. Each wall was still a blank black color, no scratch or picture on them. Four hours it had taken her to finish, since she estimated Addy ran by at around seven. The poor nurses had to deal with that crazy girl... sometimes she thought she was the most normal one here. All she had to deal with was insomnia, and occasionally seeing her dead brother. It was clear to her that he was dead, though his image still haunted her. It wasn't like she hadn't heard the doctors whispering about her possibly going crazy, but just the fact that she knew he wasn't real was a sign she wasn't. Sighing, she opened her book to another page and began to sketch again, this time drawing whatever came to mind.

James entered the hospital he had incredibly missed for the past three weeks. Who would've thought that I would rather be at a mental asylum then at home? he thought to himself. Jimmy just arrived back to the Sweetwood Hospital from a mandatory "vacation" at his parents house. Jimmy kept to himself the whole time, staying silent like he always has. Still, it was an extremely uncomfortable silence. Jimmy spent most of his time in his room while his parents conversed over pointless things, obviously confused on what to do with their helpless child.

Jimmy opened the large doors and entered a large, beautiful reception room. He walked up to the receptionist, her name tag brightly displayed on her left shoulder, and nodded at her. She looked down, and then asked, "Name?" Jimmy looked at her, before she said, "Oh right, James Talon. Sorry I forgot. Welcome back! I hope you enjoyed your vacation." Don't call me James, it's Jimmy. Jimmy had an unusual and quite unhealthy habit of replying to others in his head.

Jimmy settled his stuff down in his room, carelessly throwing everything around his room but his journal which he hid under his bed. Then he headed out to see the person he missed the most. He passed by Penelope, a girl with whom he was acquainted, and waved at her but avoided eye contact in fear of getting noticed. Nearby Penelope was the room he was looking for. Jimmy neatened his clothes, and then knocked at Cecil's door, hoping she was in her room because otherwise he would have to look for her.

Cecil woke up with a jump and almost screamed but she contained it before any of the medics hear. If they did they would have to come in and it involves physical contact. "Just a dream..." She murmured before rolling her eyes at her words. 'More like nightmare. A very bad nightmare.' She thought to herself before getting up and going to the bathroom. She shuddered at her reflection. She looked like a nightmare. She turned on the warm water on the sink and splashed her face waking herself up and getting the sweat off her face. Her puffy red eyes didn't do her justice either. She ran her fingers through her hair in a attempt to get all the knots and angles out. She quickly put her hair in a french braid and left the bathroom.

She turned her head sharply at the door when she the heard the soft knock. She started to panic a little but calmed herself down.'Maybe it's Jimmy, he did say he'll stop by when he came back.' She walked over to the door and pressed her ear to it. You could hear his soft breathing. She blushed a little on how she must have looked like a stalker, with her ear pressed to the door like that. She took a breath and opened the door. "Hi Jimmy."

"We're here!" Molly's father turned around in the driver's seat to face her. He smiled encouragingly. "Alright, kiddo, time to get out." Molly loved her father more than anything at that moment. Ever since she had received her diagnosis, her mother and brother had treated her like a freak. But her father had just accepted it. It wasn't like she had changed, or anything. She had always been bipolar. Just now it was written down on a piece of paper somewhere in a doctor's office. She smiled nervously and opened the car door, all the while gazing at her father lovingly. She got out, and looked at the hospital. It didn't really look like a hospital, and that comforted her. It looked more like a mansion than anything medical. She sighed. But it was still a mental hospital. This stay would go down on her permanent record, branding her as an "unstable person," making it difficult for her to get jobs in the future, when she got out of here. If she got out of here.
Her father was out of the car now, too. He took her by the shoulders and led her gently up the shrubbery-lined path to the hospital doors. Then they both stopped. They knew it was time to say goodbye. Molly turned around to face her father, and he knelt down in front of her. He was very tall, but he knelt down to say goodbye. Molly held back tears. She hugged her father tightly, a tear sliding down her face in spite of herself. "I love you." she whispered. "So much."
He patted her on the back, chuckling fondly. "Now be careful, or they'll diagnose you with an Electra Complex." She laughed through her tears. But then her father became serious. He held her apart from him, looking into her hazel eyes. "I'll visit you, okay? We all will." Molly nodded, and he smiled. Then her father looked over her shoulder at something. He smiled pleasantly. "Hello." he said to whoever it was, standing up.
Molly turned around to see a nurse smiling condescendingly at her and her father. Her defenses went up immediately. This woman would not treat her like just any looney. She was Molly Renson, not just some crazy person. "Hello." the nurse said in a smiley voice. "I'm Nurse York. You must be the Rensons. Mr. Renson, you'll just need to come in and sign some paper work, and then Molly will be ready to go.

*******************************************************************

After the paper work was all signed, Molly said her goodbyes again, and her father left. The nurse took her to her room and gave her her uniform. Molly put it on and then walked out of her room, looking at the door and memorizing her room number. This place was strange, and she didn't like it. The clothes were uncomfortable. She saw a boy talking to another patient through a doorway. She couldn't see who he was talking to, though. She wiped the tears off her face and walked over. "Hi." she said quietly. "I'm Molly. Who are you?" She felt so ashamed to be in here, to be branded a looney. It was like they thought that she couldn't handle herself or something. She just looked at the floor, waiting for a response.

Addison sat in the recreation room, her head in her hands as she let out a frustrated scream. "Remember, dammit! Why can't I fucking remember anything?" A nurse walked into the room at the sound of her shouting and screaming.

"Addison dear, are you alright?" she asks worriedly.

"I'm totally fine, I just enjoy screaming at myself like a crazy person...." she snaps crossly, crossing her arms and scowling at a stain in the carpet that was a result of Cecil's panic attack a few weeks ago. Because I am a crazy person... she thinks to herself. "I am not crazy. I'm not..." She looks up and sees the nurse.

"Oh, hello, Nurse. Can I help you?" she asks cheerily, obviously already having forgotten what just happened. The nurse, obviously new and not used to Addison's sudden forgetfulness, gapes at her. Addison remains oblivious to the nurse's ignorance and skips from the room childishly.

In the hallway, she glances around and sees a flash of green hair. That must be Evangeline! she thinks. Giggling madly, she begins to run after the green haired girl.

Cecil smiled and said, "Hi Jimmy." Most "reunions" would be more cheerful, involving a hug or something of the like, but not with Cecil. The slightest touch could send her paranoid and off the walls. However Jimmy often felt like they completed each other. They both hated big crowds and Cecil didn't like people who talked much and Jimmy didn't talk at all. He waved back at Cecil, careful to keep his distance so he wouldn't accidentally touch her as he once had before. He would never forget that moment; it was the first time they met. Jimmy had offered his out hand to her, and she had a mental breakdown and nearly avoided him for a month until he was able to convince her to hang out with him. That was when their friendship started to blossom. Hey Cecil, I've really missed you, Jimmy said to Cecil in his head.

Suddenly, a girl who he had never seen before with extremely long brown hair walked in Jimmy's direction. Is she coming to me? Jimmy wondered. She stopped, wiped a tear away and then said, "Hi. I'm Molly. Who are you?" Jimmy jumped up, surprised and a little scared of the noise. He avoided Molly's eye contact and just waved in her direction while trying to smile. She won't think I'm weird. We are at a mental asylum after all, James thought to himself to try stay comforted. Cecil would probably end up doing the explaining of who he was, as she almost always had. James felt a little guilty about this, as he hated to use her, but there was no other way for anyone to meet him.

"Mom! Dad!" There are two people who stand out the most in a huge crowd. Tap, tap, tap, tap. There's a boy trying to catch up with them. But, the more he ran the further they had gotten. Then they are starting to get farther, farther, farther; farther away. But, the little boy he ran, he ran, he ran but, the more he ran the farther they got away. No there was no reason for the boy to give up but, they seemed so far away. He stood there in the middle of the large crowd, eyes and face filled with tears. Were they looking for him to or was it that they didn't care? So, he picked up on things that weren't very normal but, the things he had start doing was normal to him. Traveling from home to home, foster to foster, facility to facility; he knew none of them could handle him he was quite the problem. No one could stop the problems not even an asylum.

Death? Who would be fascinated with death? No one would be fascinated as much as Grant could. One time he wasn't feeling to happy having to travel from place to place, so he went to the nearest cemetery and layer down around the graves talking to himself and enjoying 'their' company. He wasn't crazy, well, maybe just a little bit and he still doesn't call that insulting, now he takes it as a compliment so almost everyone calls him crazy. The only thing he hated about himself is that he can never go to a family and expect them to be accepting who you are. But, none of them really knew how to take care of him since they realized they were to busy for a child or for him they would try to send him to a mental hospital and mental hospital unbelievably couldn't keep up with him either.

"What a wonderful piece of artwork this is. Oh yes it is, it is fantastic." This was the 7th time he would talk to himself today. He had a couple things wrong with him either it was spending the day with the dead or having a good conversation or two with himself. Holding up a skull with his right hand, loving everything and anything hep wished he had drawing experience then he wouldn't have to ask 'her' to draw anything he couldn't. It really sucked but, he rarely had a chance to talk to her without saying anything in a jitter nervous mess. Cold, pale, blue eyes focus on every single detail, each crack and stain on that beautiful piece of human being body part. "How many are there!? I have one, the rest are buried under ground." He knew he could get in trouble for having this in her but, he wasn't going to get caught any sooner. He knew how to hide things being the troublemaker that he is.

"I wonder if she's in her room. Lets hurry so they won't see me with this." Walking quickly down the halls, he was kind of nervous to talk to her. Well, he was actually pretty nervous talking to mostly everyone in this mental hospital. Walking to her room he took a very, very deep breath, and peeked inside the room, only popping his head out for her to see that it was him. "Um, Penelope." He jitters loud enough for only him and her to see. Being nervous as he is he popped his head away to take a deep breath once again. Popping his head back in.

Sometime during one of the many sketches she had completed that morning, she noticed Jimmy walk by. The boy was adorable, in a completely non-creepy way. They didn't know each other that well, considering he didn't talk to anyone, but she knew him well enough to know that if he ever needed anything from her she would be more than happy to help him, more than happy to do whatever it was he needed her to do. When you're in a mental hospital, you don't make a lot of friends. The only ones she had were Addison, if the girl remembered Pen enough. Jimmy, though she could only talk at him, luckily that actually was quite nice sometimes. And then Grant, her lovely Grant that she'd fallen in like with somewhere along the time they'd been friends. It was more than just a friendship, she liked him, a liking someone was dangerous to even think about in a place like this. So of course she ignored it, which was sometimes quite difficult to do. But if she just concentrated on the things he wanted her to sketch, it was okay.

By now she'd done two sketches of her brother, one being him sitting at the end of her bed, fading away while she reached out for him. And the other was a picture of the last time she had seen him before he'd gone to the party that ended his life. Along with those, she drew a quick portrait of Jimmy, Addison, and even Cecil. Though she didn't know the last girl very well, it didn't mean that she hated her. It just wasn't easy to get to know a lot of people here, but maybe giving her something would somehow show that she wanted... peace, at least. And she would know that she wasn't going to try and hurt her or anything.

For Grant though, she had two things. One was in a cemetery, Grant lying by a grave and almost seeming to be speaking with the headstone. Of course he also had one of his skulls with him. The other was just a close up of his face, but only some of his face was truly... in tact. Here and there you saw bone and blood and everything that was supposed to be... inside. If she had to say so herself, it didn't look half bad.

As if on cue, her friend peeked into her room. It was quite possible that he was the only one she allowed to call her by her full name, which she hated. "Um, Grant." She said, repeating his words. "You can come in, I actually have a few things for you. Just shut the door behind you."

Cecil smiled at Jimmy and she could tell just by looking at him that he wanted to see her as much as she wanted to see him. She liked that he respected her distance terms not wanting to be touched or anything. It meant that he was willing to do anything for her to be friends. She remember the first time they met and it didn't go so well. Thinking back she looked ridiculous. She seemed foolish at the time. But ever since Jimmy left she had been trying her hardest not to react badly at physical contact. So far she only hurt one medic since he left.

Cecil jumped when a girl appeared before her and Jimmy. She was just about to shut the door but she stopped herself from doing so. It would have been disrespectful, in her case. Cecil looked at Jimmy who just waved and at her and avoided all eye contact. She looked back over to the girl who said her name was 'Molly' She thought. Being polite she let out the best smile she could muster. "Hi Molly I'm Cecil." She said and before she could offer a hand shake or some sort like that she quickly introduced Jimmy who was probably expecting her to do so. It was fine with her, she always did it for him. "This is James, but call him Jimmy." She found that out when they met after their first accident. He wrote that he wanted to be called Jimmy. She didn't argue of course. It wasn't her name anyways.

The boy with the spiky blonde hair jumped and waved at her while giving her a weird, strained smile. Molly summoned up all of her acting ability and changed upon the instant. She had always been a good actress. Her shoulders straightened up instead of the shameful slouch that she had been doing, her eyes got wider, her smile widened into a manic grin, and her hands went casually into her pockets. She was about to introduce herself in a more lively manner, but then the girl with brown hair spoke up.
'Hi, Molly, I'm Cecil.' she said, and then quickly introduced the silent boy. 'This is James, but call him Jimmy.'
"Hi, Cecil, Jimmy." she said with a casual, conversational tone, so different from how she was before. She wasn't in one of her many mood swings: she was just acting. She hated doing it, but she felt it necessary sometimes. "Well," she said, looking around with a now sardonic smile. "I just love it here, don't you?" Anger flashed in her smiling eyes. Then she seemed to melt, her shoulders slumping again, her eyes falling back to the floor. Her smile vanished without a trace. "I'm sorry, you guys." she whispered, tears welling in her eyes. "Is it okay if I cry right now?" Her hair fell into her face, obscuring it from their vision, as if she were hiding behind it. Molly hated how she just cried randomly. She wasn't really that upset about anything, she just... had to cry. It was all part of being bipolar, she guessed. What would it be like to not have to cry all the time? To be normal? She didn't know, and she never would. She let the tears fall unchecked to the floor like little raindrops, wishing to God that she could just talk to these people like a normal person. She could hear her mother's voice: 'Why does it always have to be about you, Molly? Can't you just think about someone else for once? Stop crying. STOP CRYING NOW!' "I'm sorry." she whispered to herself. "But I can't."
