Itsuki is a bit of a doormat. Willing to keep quiet and accept any punishment that blows her way, she refuses to raise a fuss and comes across as complacent and subdued as a result. Despite her reservedness making her seem detached, Itsuki is actually quite invested in the world and the people in it and cares deeply for those around her. Though her heart aches at the sight of people in pain, her own self-consciousness and withdrawn personality makes it difficult for her to step out on a limb and approach people to offer help.

Itsuki was the younger sister of Hopeβs Peak secretary Akuma Ouji. While for the most part, Itsuki was proud of her brother and looked up to his strong sense of justice, she began to notice strange behaviours in Akuma as early as his second year at Hopeβs Peak. He often spoke about the school as a beacon of hope, placing all his trust in the higher-ups who worked the place. As Akuma was far more charming, intelligent, and charismatic than Itsuki, she learned to allow him full reign of every conversation, instead resigning herself to the background.
And then Hopeβs Peak began to fall apart.
As the school crumbled to pieces, so did Akuma. Itsuki found herself frightened by Akumaβs swift plunge from a promoter of justice to a crazed tyrant hungry for destruction. When Akuma recruited partners, his first attempt was to reach out to Itsuki--but she harshly refused, trying to talk Akuma down from whatever crazy idea he had in mind. Instead of listening, Akuma became enraged, screaming at Itsuki about how she was part of the problem, she was allowing despair to consume the world, and she was just as bad as the children in that school. Scared for her life, Itsuki fled her home and settled somewhere as far from Akuma as she could get, deliberately choosing to remain near Ultimate Despairβs influence as a sense of penance for what she had done.
It wasnβt long before Itsuki was discovered by the Future Foundation, who interrogated her on Akumaβs whereabouts. Itsuki could give only vague information and broke down crying, insisting she hadnβt had anything to do with Akumaβs plans. It was here that she learned what her brother had done--after recruiting another male partner and a young girl to act as his spy, Akuma used both his vast intellect and his connections to Hopeβs Peak to create a killing game that mimicked those of Junko Enoshima and killed many people, both students and otherwise. Distraught by this news, Itsuki opted to remain in captivity with the Future Foundation as a means of atoning for her brotherβs horrific actions.
She was there for approximately four years before she was found.
