| Personality |

Ryuunosuke, Seeming formal and distant at first, but a cheerful and talkative person once you break the ice.
He sees himself as a loyal and dependent friend, but not blindly so.
While he certainly isn’t a cold person towards his friends, he is still somewhat suspicious of people, he feels indifferent towards people he doesn’t know, or cares about, but tries to be there, and sympathize when it concerns his friends and/or family.
His hobbies vary from cycling to watching anime, fishing and stargazing.
Ryuunosuke also has a fond spot for the fantasy genre, especially knights. This also prompted him to get himself a copy of Sword Art Online.

| Bio |

Ryunosuke’s childhood was quite unremarkable. He had two loving parents, His father who works at a major publishing company, and his mother, who owns a flower shop. He’s done well enough at school to pass almost every test with a nice grade, but has been quite the underachiever otherwise.
After graduating from high-school he decided on taking a break before continuing his education at a university.
He currently resides in a small apartment complex, which he moved in to about two months prior, owned by his grandmother.
He’s often seen doing odd jobs around the complex, cycling or spending time with one of the male tenants with whom he became friends.

Merche dragged his feet towards a nearby bench, and proceeded to gracelessly collapse on top of it, dropping his spear and kite shield without care. He let out a sigh, a breath he was holding since the Gamemaster had teleported all of the players to the centre plaza, and had informed them of their predicament. After the initial shock, a lot of players and Merche included, started to rush the low level mob spawning points. Seeing however that those spots were overcrowded, he had decided to move to a more secluded spot. There, he managed to dispatch a few monsters and started to get the hang of the most basic sword skill, until he got interrupted by a higher leveled player, wielding a kite shield and spear who saw Merche as easy pickings. Had it not been for two respawning mobs attacking the higher leveled player, and Merche’s sword skill hitting the distracted player, it would have been the end for him. Righting himself on the bench, he went through the hand gestures to open his inventory.

Two health potions, his starting shortsword, various items dropped by mobs and a peculiar stone that weighed a ludicrous amount, dropped by his now deceased former owner. Combined with all these items, not only was Merche’s inventory full, he was also over encumbered, which also got him low on health twice due to hampered mobility, on the trek back to the Town of Beginnings. ”I wonder if can buy the needed equipment with all this junk. I need a few more spears, health potions, a pickaxe and various crafting tools before i set out towards the next village. Sure hope taking that stone with me was worth it.” He said, speaking to no one in particular. Not that anyone would listen he thought. Most of the people still around were either running to a place with a goal in mind, or the few players that are standing, sitting or lying down on the floor, seeming to be in a catatonic state caused by the announcement of being stuck here. “No sense sticking around here, i have wares to sell.” He thought. Merche stood up from the bench and grabbed his shield and spear so he could clasp those to his back. After doing so, he made his way towards the merchant district as fast as he could; which was no faster than a brisk walk due to being over encumbered. Eventually after some time he made it to the shopping district. Spotting a merchant, he was about to approach the npc, but a notification popped up after taking five steps.

Opening the notification he saw the following message:

SUBJECT: Extended weight limit

Due to reaching the required skill threshold of maximum weight capacity,
you have gained the passive “Extended weight limit” skill.
This skill allows you to carry more weight before becoming over encumbered and also extends your inventory space.
You can keep track of your skills under the skill tab.

What. No really. Just as i’m less than 10 steps removed from the merchant, and could have used this skill a lot more when i was making my way back to the town of beginnings i get it when i needed it least! This. Game. O my god.” was what Merche thought, as he pinched the bridge of his nose with his left thumb and index finger. Going through the motions of getting to the skill tab he scrolled through all his skills.
His sword and spear skills were both about even, with his shield skill a bit higher.
He had a few points in blade throwing due to having to throw his spear at mobs to gain it’s aggro, but it was still far from useful.”Guess i should train that in the near future.
Another interesting skill was Battle healing, a skill that regenerates health while in combat.
Though at this level, it merely regenerated 2.1 health points every second. Not anything to write home about if you have triple digit health, even at level one.
His best skill however was Tools appraisal, a skill he had picked up at character creation.
Dismissing his menu bar, Merche continued towards the merchant to sell his wares.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This should do.” Merche said as he bought the last item on his mental list.
Five additional spears, 4 health potions, leather gloves, rope, a smiths hammer, a pickaxe and various other required smithing equipment.
Tracing his fingers through the various menu’s, he selects “Map”. In a fraction of a second the designated screen pops up in his vision, showing him the known lay out of the first floor.
His finger traces along a path starting from the Town of Beginnings up until the path splits in two.
He rubbed his sparsely haired chin thinking about what to do. Should he take the long or the short route? Taking the short route would obviously get him to his destination fastest, but the longer route might have something too… “No, i definitely need to take the shortest route. I don’t know how long it’ll take before many more people get the idea to venture further seeking for stronger mobs to fight. I need to have an advantage now that i still can.
Equipping his leather gloves from his inventory, and unclasping his kite shield and spear from his back, he ran towards the town’s exit planning to follow the road to the next village, taking the shortest route, shield at the ready.
Heh, i kinda look like a roman Legionnaire like this don’t i? Well, one sans the traditional clothing, armor, square shield sandals and helmet befitting a roman legionnaire of course. Which basically means i don’t look like one. Whatever. Guess i’ll just have to craft it when i gather the materials!” is what Merche thought, donning a large grin at the prospect of crafting his own armor and weapons, and potentially selling it for high prices. “It wouldn’t be hard making some comrades if you could make them stuff right? It would definitely beat adventuring on my own.” Where his last thoughts as his feet left the stones of the town, and onto the well trodden path towards the next village.

...Almost near the split.” Merche said under his breath as he was still running along the path.
He had gotten pretty far in such a short amount of time. He attributed this to the fact that not many mobs wandered the path, and instead spawned near the trees on both the left and the right. It wasn't until the forest started creeping up onto the road from both sides that it sent stragglers from those monster groups onto it, Though were easily dispatched. A well aimed spear throw got rid of about Thirty percent of their health, and a few more spear thrusts delivered by another spear he'd quickly equip, dealt with the mob with ease. His spear had superior reach, and his lengthy kite shield in the shape of an upside down teardrop could guard a sizeable amount of his body, leaving him not too open for enemy attacks.

Merche continued running along the path, but slowly came to stand still when he witnessed a peculiar sight. Four mobs; resembling either goblins or kobolds with makeshift clubs, huddled together, surrounding a tree. Why would they huddle around a tree? It doesn’t stand out from all the other trees surrounding it. He squinted, trying to spot anything odd about the tree to no avail.
Guess i’ll have to get rid of those mobs if i want to get near that tree to take a closer look.” Merche thought. He planted his spear into the ground, and opened his inventory. He selected another spear and planted it right next to the other. Subsequently, he selected his shortsword and sheathed it. Grabbing the first spear he planted, he pulled it out of the ground. He stretched his arm back, hand upright, holding his spear and shuffling his left leg forward. maintaining the proper stance, it didn’t take long before his spear gave off a cyan blue aura, and he executed the sword skill: Throw. Aiming for the middle of the group, Merche’s right arm shot forward with abnormal speed, casting the spear towards it’s target, and struck true, embedding itself into the back of the middle right kobold. Just as the kobold stumbles forward and trips, surprising his “friends”, Merche had already pulled the other spear out of the ground, gotten into his stance.

Meanwhile, the kobolds had turned around, pointing at the culprit who had harmed their “buddy”. Just as one of the kobolds raised his club, the second spear had imbed itself into his chest, sending him flailing on his back. Disregarding the flailing kobold, the other two started running towards Merche, with their clubs raised. He grasped his sword by the hilt with his right hand, and pulled it out of his scabbard. He held his shield in front of him and charged another sword skill; Rage Spike. Activating his skill, he leapt towards one of the kobolds with blinding speed. He slashed his sword into an upward arc, leaving a trace of red across the kobolds chest were he had cut it. As his sword reached the end of it’s swing, Merche readjusted his grip, only to stab the sword downwards, plunging it in it’s neck. With a final twist of the blade and pulling it out, the kobold reached zero hit points and exploded into something that looked similar to stained glass. Distracted by this, he never saw the other kobold sneaking up to his open side, delivering a nasty heavy blow to his ribs. Merche stumbled back, gritting his teeth, but quickly moved his shield in line of the fastly approaching club and successfully blocked it. The club rebounded off the shield, leaving the kobold completely open. A few quick slashes and a final trust made short work of the kobold. the two other kobolds were easily dispatched with a few sword thrusts.

Thank god that’s over.” Merche said as he placed his sword back in it’s sheath. He recollected his spears and took a quick peek at his health. “Woah what? one third of my health in ONE hit? That’s ridiculous. didn’t even get much money or experience from those mobs… Oh, though i did manage to level my proficiency with swords.” Looking through his sword skills, he noticed he had gained a new skill. “Oh? Sonic Leap? Sounds neat.” Dismissing the menu, he redirected his attention back to the tree. For some reason the kobolds were looking at it. Walking closer to the tree until he stood right in front of it. “I don't see anything out of the ordinary.” He said. Walking around the tree a few times and even knocking on the door with his fist revealed nothing. Looking up didn't reveal anything either due to the tree's foilage being too dense. Sighing, Merche selected a health potion from and brought it to his lips with chagrin. He drank it in one go and threw the empty bottle unto the ground. “Fucking waste of time and of a potion. Whatever, i’m leaving.” Is what Merche said as he walked back towards the road, leading to the split.

"Wait."
The word emerged from her lips, without her willing it to.
Setsuna hesitated. She'd watched the swordsman take down the four mobs of kobolds and goblins that had gathered around her tree, losing a large portion of his health as he did so. She generally disliked help. It reminded her too much of her real life, of being treated like some fragile princess, liable to break if the utmost care were not taken. She'd had more than enough of being shepherded around by bodyguards, of having her path in life smoothed by her father and maids and butlers and concerned adults who'd never seen her, but, rather, had seen some small, pathetic creature that was to be pitied.
However, in this situation, it had been her own fault for getting herself in a situation in which she was a damsel-in-distress, in which someone else had to intervene and provide assistance.
"Stupid," she stated quietly, scolding herself.
She'd relied too much on the cover the trees had granted her and had ignored the mobs of monsters that were gradually amassing below her, drawn in by their coding to attack players within the parameters of the path. Eventually, the foliage of the trees had grown too dense for her to leap through and she'd become stranded in one of the trees, unable to clamber down due to the large number of monsters she'd attracted and unable to continue forward.
In this incident, help had been necessary. The monsters could've remained crowded around the tree for an indefinite amount of time and she would've eventually grown fatigued enough to fall off the tree. Her pride and desire for independence wouldn't have been any good to her if she had been dead.
Setsuna sighed and stood up in one fluid motion, using her acrobatics skill to propel herself out of the tree and onto the path behind the brown-haired player.
"Wait," she repeated again, emphatically, running to overtake the player. After Setsuna had discovered that she was disadvantaged in the game strength-wise, she'd worked to cultivate her speed to make up for her weakness.
She pivoted once she passed him so that she stood facing him, regarding him with solemn, gray eyes.
"...Thank you," she said, softly.
She paused for a minute, observing him. According to Setsuna's philosophy, a good turn always had to be returned. But what could she offer him when he had risked his health-and his life?
She recalled his comment on losing one third of his health and, rummaging through her bag, pulled out two health potions.
"Here."
Setsuna offered the red vials to him.
"Sorry," she added, as an afterthought, "about the monsters. I saw that you lost health during the battle."
She pushed back strands of hair that had escaped from her braid, suddenly aware of the awkwardness of the situation. How long had it been since she'd talked to someone near her own age? Someone besides her tutor or maids or bodyguards? Was there some code of conduct she wasn't aware of for people her age?
She made up her mind. After she'd finished thanking the player, she would continue to the next village on her own-she didn't want to be coddled and treated like some delicate object as she was in real life.

“Did i just hear something?” Is what Merche thought as he came to a stand still. He looked back over his left shoulder, but didn’t spot anything, or anyone. He pressed his lips together and frowned.
He was about to make a comment about how his mind was playing tricks on him, but quickly refrained from doing so when he had heard a feminine voice spoke in front of him. “Thank you.”
Startled, He turned and looked back in front of him, and saw the owner of the voice. A dark haired girl with her hair done up in a braid, wearing clothes that were easily three sizes too big on her frame. It was an adorable sight, one that Merche would have liked to indulge himself in for a bit longer if it weren’t for her staring at his eyes so fixedly that it felt quite unnerving. So unnerving in fact, that he dared not look anywhere else except at her eyes. Still confused about the whole situation, he opened his mouth to at least say *something*,but before he could get a sound out of his throat, she held two vials of what he assumed were health potions, in her right hand, in front of his face. "Sorry, about the monsters. I saw that you lost health during the battle." she had said.

It took him a few moments before everything clicked in his mind. He had helped her out by defeating the kobolds that had surrounded the tree she was hiding in. And not wanting to be indebted to him, she tried to return the favor by giving him her health potions because he had used one in the fight. “But that’s absolutely unnecessary!” He thought. He still had five more of them left. Not that she would have known of course. But neither did he know how many she had on her. For all he knew, those could have been her last two potions. It seemed as if it was more about not wanting to be indebted to someone instead of returning the favor that she’s offering them. But he didn’t really need them, but he felt that she wouldn’t accept his declination in regards of the potions. He had to come up with something. Pondering the issue for a brief moment, quickly came up with an idea, as to how to solve the problem.

Directing his attention back to the girl who was still holding those vials, he took a deep breath and spoke. Directing his attention back to the girl who was still holding those vials, he took a deep breath and spoke.”I don’t think i can accept these vials. It would be awfully rude of me if i took them, and i still have five more potions left, so i’ll be fine. Worry about yourself.” He said as he stepped around the girl, and walked back towards the path leading to Horunka, slowly fading into the distance.

“Hah… Finally made it….” Merche said as he took his first, unsteady step into Horunka.
A prompt popped up in his vision, notifying him that he had entered this town, and on queue,
a tune started playing.(youtu.be/S-Xm7s9eGxU)

Planting the tip of his spear into the ground, Merche stretches his body, briefly scratching his mud-caked hair with his gloved hands. He wiped the mud on his now decimated pants, rested his body against his spear. After continuing on his way along the path to Horunka, he went along the long path which led him through a forest, instead of the short one he had initially planned to take, thinking he might find some interesting materials there. He didn’t.

Instead, he ran into a large group of mobs he tried to pick off one by one, but didn’t work out as planned. It had him running through the forest, falling in the mud a few times. At one point, he even fell out of a tree while adjusting his trousers. He had ripped off the fabric of his left trouser leg, and made adjustments to the other leg so that they would match. Hearing an explosion going off in the distance, startled Merche, who subsequently fell down the branch he stood on. Some more trekking through the forest, and an unlucky run in with some plant monsters, finally got him to Horunka, in more or less one piece. His equipment however, wasn’t so lucky. Besides the aforementioned pants, his sword broke during his first fight in the forest, prompting his escape. 4 spears left behind in the forest, since he had no time to retrieve them. A rag that used to resemble a shirt, and a near broken shield. The shield had intercepted most of the attacks from both groups, and the shirt turned out the way it was due to the Nepent’s Acidic Spit that did manage to hit him.

“There is no use to wearing it if it’s like this, now is there?” He thought. After all, what was left of it didn’t do good job at all in covering his chest. Pulling of the rag with relative ease, he used it to clean up his hair a bit. After some intensive rubbing, his hair looked a bit more representable.
“Guess this’ll have to do.” Merche said as he tossed the rag on the floor. Hoisting the spear out of the ground and letting the spear rest against his shoulder, he made his way into the town looking for the inn. Finding it not long after, he opens the door to the establishment and sets foot in a well lit room. In it he saw plenty of tables and chairs, all unoccupied accept two other players, and a desk, with a female npc behind it. Having noticed Merche’s entrance, one of the players spoke up. “Woah, you’re… Tarzan right? So…. where’s Jane?” The now clearly inebriated player said.
Next to him another player with too much alcohol in his body glared at Merche and also spoke.
“What’s up with that fucking get up, huh? This is Sword Art Online, not Caveman Online, you faggot.””Don’t listen to that guy, Tarzan….! he’s just like that because his girl ran off with some other players.””Why’d you tell em that, huh? Fight me! Not here, and see what happens, asshole!” Deciding to ignore the two players, he made his way to the NPC, and rented himself a room. After that, he made his way upstairs to get a well earned shower. Noticing he had truly become tired, not long after that shower, he took a long nap. It wasn’t until 3 PM that he came out of bed and had breakfast. It was during his hearty meal that he noticed something. while combing through his hair, he noticed that the hair at the back of his head reached lower than it used to.”Crap! i also lost my hairband. Guess i’ll also have to add that to the shopping list…” He sighed, as he continued eating his meal.

After restocking and repairing her clothes once more--not to mention her new Anneal Blade as well, which had taken a bit of a beating as well, Hisui realized she was starting to feel extremely hungry. Come to think of it, since leaving the City of Beginnings, had she had any nourishment at all other than that one cup of water she obtained from the NPC lady?! Dear god, that was just ridiculous.

"I...guess I'll stop by the inn..." she sighed, remembering that there was a small area in the inn for people to eat. And so, she went in, checked in with the NPC in the dining area, ordered some food without a clue of just what she was ordering, and sat herself at a random table, not really paying attention to where she sat...

...until she noticed a young man with brown hair sitting nearby, whose clothes...er, to say the least, had seen better days. Hisui, staring in his direction with a bewildered expression, wondered just what the man could have gone through to end up like that. Then she realized he might notice her staring at him, and quickly looked away, hurriedly calling out the main menu to just make it seem like she had been doing nothing but checking her stats.

Which reminded her...was her setup really alright? There were only two stats that she could see: "Strength" and "Agility". So far, being at Level 6, she had been trying to strike a balance between the two stats, usually awarding status points to "Agility" first. At the moment, though, she couldn't tell if this was the right choice, for the Anneal Blade still felt rather heavy and awkward for her at times...once again, Hisui sighed and put a hand to her face, wishing she were taller and stronger in real life.

"W-wait! H-how did you get it?!"

"Eh?!" Hisui jolted backwards in her chair abruptly, before seeing a number of players crowding directly in front of her. Their eyes were focused on her left hip...which, as Hisui looked down, was where her hard-earned Anneal Blade hung from a belt around her waist. "Y-you mean...t-the A-Anneal Blade...?"

"What else would I be talking about?!" the player at the front of the group demanded, pointing at the sword. "That sword's probably the best one a player can get on the 1st floor! But the chance of getting the Ovule...and you got it on the second day?!" Nearly leaping forward, he was suddenly inches from Hisui's face, causing her to shriek and jump back. "P-please! I'll...I'll give you any amount of Cor for it!" the player begged, starting to move after her. "Just give me the Anneal Blade!"

At once, the rest of his group could no longer restrain themselves, and so they, too, started clamoring for the silver-blue sword, saying they'd give her whatever amount of money. It was becoming more and more frightening for Hisui, and she couldn't even begin to form a response in her mouth. Finally, she could stand it no longer, and bolted from the dining area without waiting for her food, hiding in her room for the next few minutes with her heart threatening to leap out of her chest at any moment, and tears running down her face. Just why did they swarm her like that, just for her sword? They could easily do the quest themselves, regardless of how long it would take to find the ovule...

When her heartbeat had returned to its normal pace, Hisui returned to the dining area and ordered some new food, this time with the Anneal Blade stored safely inside her inventory. Looking around, she could see those players were no longer there anymore...although it seemed the brown-haired man with the destroyed clothes was still sitting there. Pulling the edges of her cape closer to her body, Hisui once again seated herself, but this time at an edge of the room, further away from the man.

Starting on his second plate of food, Merche started browsing through his menu while he continued shoveling food in his mouth. He had noticed a few changes. First, He noticed that he reached level four. Quickly, looked at his skills tab and saw that his overall proficiency with the spear was quite a lot higher than his sword proficiency, but his shield skill took the cake, being the highest, but still within reason for someone who’s level four. Another thing he noticed was that his Battle Healing now healed 2.7 HP per second, instead of 2.1. He was about to check on his other skills until he noticed that his fork wasn’t bringing food to his mouth anymore. looking down at his plate, he saw that it was completely empty.

Trying to find the waitress, he spotted her taking the order from a brown haired kid with green eyes, and headed towards the kitchen. As Merche was about to haul over the waitress, but stopped when he heard a lot of clamoring from where the kid was seated. Looking in that direction, he saw a lot of people surrounding the table the kid sat at, screaming and shouting for him to trade his sword. Merche tried to appraise the sword from where he sat, but the other players constantly blocked his few. A few seconds later, the kid sprung up from his chair, and dashed to and up the stairs, presumably to his room. Not long after that, the players that had surrounded him dispersed, just as suddenly as they came.

Well that *was* something.” Merche said to no one in particular. He briefly imagined what it would be like if he’d be in a situation like this, trying to sell his own crafted wares, until the waitress came walking in again, with a plate of food held in both hands. She laid it upon the table the kid had sat at earlier, but which was now obviously vacant. He eyed the plate of food before deciding to grab the plate. “It would get cold if it’s not eaten soon, it’d be waste.” He rationalized.
Quickly scurrying over towards the table, grabbing the plate, and scurrying back to his own table.
Oh man, these scrambled eggs are delightful! Waitress, another plate of this please!” He yelled, eating his food with gusto. After emptying the contents of the plate into his maw, he started eating the third plate while looking at his stats and skills again. He seemingly learned new skills.
High Streamer” A spear skill that did much the same as “Sonic Leap”, only ending in a thrust instead of a slash, and “Extender” a skill that elongated his spear temporarily for 20 seconds, but reducing damage done with that same weapon by 50%. He also assigned his stats, dividing them in the following proportions: Dexterity>vitality=agility>strength.

It was around half way Merche’s fourth plate that the kid(Whom he finally recognised as a girl due to her skirt, or at least hoped was a girl) entered the room again, eyes red, presumably from crying, and sat down at a table near one of the corners of the room. She hailed the waitress and ordered some dish which he couldn’t make out. Merche felt a pang of guilt, having eaten her food and seeing how solemn she looked at the moment. Deciding to at least repay her for her food, he hailed over the waitress and said; “Hey, could you get me an apple pie for that girl? Oh, and one more plate of eggs please.

"Hey, could you get me an apple pie for that girl?"

When she heard that, Hisui's gaze snapped upwards in surprise--only to get obscured by her hood a moment later, as she had pulled it down as soon as she had seated herself, due to the incident with all those people trying to buy her Anneal Blade. Lifting her hood so she could see, she realized the one who had been talking was the man with the destroyed clothes who had said that, and he was pointing in her direction.

Confused, taken aback, and embarrassed all at once, she tried to say something to the NPC waitress, or to the man himself, not to worry that much about her, but her voice faltered yet again, and she ended up having the apple pie brought to her without getting a chance to speak. And, well, she was still very hungry anyway, so when she smelled the sweet flavor of the pie, she couldn't help but dig in. It wasn't very long at all before the pie disappeared, not to mention the other things Hisui ordered.

Standing up and keeping her hood down, as well as her cape wrapped rather closely around her body, Hisui stood up and prepared to leave...but then she remembered the man with the destroyed clothes that had gotten her the apple pie. Was she supposed to repay him...or something? At least thanking him would be enough, anyway. She started to walk towards the man, but began to hesitate soon--he had seen that crazy moment with those gamers wanting the Anneal Blade, hadn't he? What would he think about that? Did he get the apple pie for her to convince her to-

Just. Stop. Berating herself mentally for going on a bizarre thought train, Hisui forced herself to stand right next to the man's table. Clearing her throat to get his attention, she lifted one hand to raise her hood just enough for him to see her right eye (the glitch with the paler left eye did not seem to have been fixed yet), and tried to speak, but once again, she found herself stammering awkwardly for a few seconds. It felt like her entire brain was straining itself when she finally managed out the words, "T-thank you f-for the...um, t-the pie...sir. B-but, um...w-why did you g-get it f...for me?"

“T-thank you f-for the...um, t-the pie...sir. B-but, um...w-why did you g-get it f...for me?”
Is what a young, feminine voice had said a few steps away from Merche. He looked from his plate and looked towards where the sound had emanated from. He saw it came from the girl of whom he had eaten(stolen)her meal. Her posture was skittish, and she tried to hide behind her hood. He coughed once, and glanced away awkwardly before looking back.

“Well uh… You see, you ordered food before going to your room, correct? Well,i miiight have eaten some of that… A-actually i ate it all. My sincerest apologies. I thought you looked like you could use a pick me up, and i felt guilty eating your food so that’s why i ordered you a pie.” He said while sheepishly grinning and rubbing his minimal stubble with his left hand.”Man, this is kinda awkward. Maybe i should talk about something.” He thought. “So, about earlier, why were they so aggressively trying to get that of you? Is it a rare item that’s hard to get or something?”Merche asked the younger girl.

"Oh, r-right..." It took Hisui a bit longer than usual to remember she had ordered something before getting hounded by those other players. "U-um...well, I guess...I mean, i-it's not like I didn't...you know, practically leave it out f-for anyone to take it...um..." Looking around a bit nervously and subconsciously trying to avoid making eye contact for more than a second, she muttered, "Well...r-regardless, thanks."

When the man asked to see the Anneal Blade, Hisui began to worry that this man would want one as well, but she still answered as truthfully as she could. "A-as for the, um, Anneal Blade...well, t-there's this house nearby w-with, um, an NPC lady. Sh-she'll give you a quest to get the sword. S-so...all you have to do is, um, find this object called 'Little Nepent's Ovule'...it's like, um, a glowing green ball about this big."

Miming the shape with her hands, Hisui continued, though she thought she was starting to sweat a little from the pressure. "W-well...you have to, um, g-get the Ovule from these 'Little Nepents'...they're these gigantic flower...monster...things. I-it took me a long time to find one that dropped the Ovule, though, so....it might be a bit difficult." Lowering her arms, she waited fro the man to respond. If he wanted the Anneal Blade, well, he knew how to get one now.

"Well...r-regardless, thanks."No need for thanks, i was obligated to compensate you.
After all, if he didn’t, he wouldn’t be more than a petty thief he believed.
When he had asked the girl how she got that sword, she told him about the place he could acquire the quest, and what item he had to deliver. When she told him he could get them as a drop from a Little Nepent, his facial features settled into a wry smile, remembering his prior encounter with them.”Little Nepent you say? Coincidentally, i had encountered them earlier on my way to this town. I was standing on top of a tree branch adjusting my trousers, when i heard an explosion of in the distance, which startled me and caused me to fall out of it and fall on the ground. Not long after that, they started pouring out of the forest, and rushing towards where the sound had originated from. About five of them split off from the main group and started chasing me, spitting acidic fluid at me that nearly broke my shield, and is the main reason why my gear looks the way it does right now.” He said with a heavy sigh.”At least my gloves are intact…” He said while raising his gloved hands, and turning the palms of his hands towards his face, and back a few times for emphasis.

Would that happen every time you would end up fighting them? Because if that would be the case, i’d understand it being horribly hard to complete. I take it you had help?”He asked. He was quite interested in getting himself an anneal blade, but from what he heard he wasn’t yet ready to tackle the quest on his own.”I kinda could go for a few cups of tea right now…”He mumbled softly. Having said that, he once again waived over the waitress and ordered a pot of hot Barly tea.
Would you mind discussing those Nepents under a cup of tea with me? Please take a seat, i can’t imagine it being comfortable for you answering all my questions while having to stand, nor would it be proper of me to ignore that fact.” Merche said, while gesturing with an open hand towards an empty chair on the opposite side of the table.”My name is Merche Rivental by the way. I hope you don’t mind me asking you any questions i have about these Nepents, pointers on how to efficiently dispose of them, and things i should look out for.”He said while bowing towards her in his chair.

When the explosion was mentioned, Hisui gasped and immediately groaned while putting a hand to her face, remembering the incident with Amber and the Nepent with the fruit on its head. "...u-um...a-about that explosion..." Shuffling awkwardly and staring down at her feet, she sighed, and explained just what triggered the crazy rush of the Little Nepents. "S-so, you...won't want to, um, you know...strike that fruit. Um...s-sorry about what happened to you out there."

The man, who introduced herself as Merche, didn't really seem to have any intention of going anywhere soon, seeing as he was ordering more tea. Though Hisui felt rather strange sitting at a table with a man she had met only a few minutes ago, Merche seemed kind enough, and so she sat down...though she still moved to the far corner of the table, and did not take her hood off. "A-and, I-I did manage to complete the quest...b-by myself, about a-an hour ago. B-but, it...took me a long time, eheh...a-about 3 hours, in fact. S-so, don't b-be surprised if, you know, i-it takes a long time." She wasn't sure whether or not she should mention Amber, since as far as she knew, she hadn't accomplished anything then.

At that point, the waitress placed a teapot and two cups between the two players, and left without a word. Tentatively reaching for the teapot, Hisui hesitated a few times, looking at Merche to see if he wanted to use it first, before finally pulling her hand away, motioning for him to take the first cup. "Well, um...ask away, I-I guess," she mumbled. But Hisui wasn't used to this kind of thing at all, so she was incredibly nervous.

Reaching for the teapot, he first poured Hisui a cup and placed it in front of her, and poured one for himself afterwards. Merche blew his tea a few times so that it could cool a bit off, and looked the girl in her eye. “I had quite the difficulty dealing with their acidic spit. What can i do against that? What are it’s weak points? Can it grab a player with it’s vines?” He briefly took a sip of his tea before continuing. “How hard was fighting one for you? What level were you when you fought one for the first time? How did you fare? I’m level four my self. How do you think i would fare against a Nepent in one on one combat? Is there anything else i should know that might aid me?”
He was aware that those were quite a few questions, but he thought they had to be asked nonetheless. He brought his cup to his lips, slightly canted it so that the tea could steadily stream into his mouth, and swallowed when he had a nice mouthful. Merche briefly closed his eyes, momentarily occupied by the warm, pleasant feeling that spread through his body, before looking back at Hisui with a faint smile, encouraging her to also drink her cup of tea. “It tastes and feels positively delightful."

It seemed it would be rather easy to get along with Merche--instead of taking the first cup of tea like Hisui allowed him to, he instead poured a cup for her before doing so for himself. Sipping the tea (and wincing as she gulped it down, for she had done so while it was too hot), she coughed a little and smiled rather bitterly. "Um...all I-I did was, er, d-dodge the acid, really. But, m-most clothing doesn't hold up very well against it, a-and...I, um, don't know anything about armor. A-and, no, i-it won't grab you with the vines...i-it just, y-you know, uses them like...like a whip. Y-yeah. D-did I miss something...?"

After frowning for a bit, she remembered what it was. "...ah, right, weak points. I-it's the stem. I-if you hit that place, i-it'll take a lot more damage." There were so many questions directed upon her at once that it felt rather unnerving, but since it was only this one man, it was still easier than the hectic scene with people demanding the quest reward. "I-I was Level 3 when I f-found my first Little Nepent, and it was, well, somewhat easy for me, I guess. But, w-well...th-that trap that s-summoned the other Nepents, i-it kind of...forced me to get used to how they fight. R-really fast."

Laughing a little bit uncomfortably, she stuck one hand into her hood and smoothed her hair down a little bit, even though Merche probably wouldn't be able to see that part of her head. "Um...t-that's all I can say, sadly. I-I don't really know at all what, um, you know..." Looking him up and down, she honestly had no idea whatsoever what Merche was capable of. And it wasn't like she could automatically see his stats whenever she wanted. "I-I mean, well, I-I've never seen you fight, so...y-yeah, um...y-you understand, right?"

Holding the teacup gingerly with both hands, she tested to see if it was too hot again, and then took a bigger sip. It tasted very sweet, yet not like anything in the real world...but no matter how much she enjoyed the taste, something felt hollow about it. "Um...y-yeah, this tea is...v-very unique, I suppose," she muttered weakly, having been reminded once again of the predicament she had gotten into by putting on the NerveGear.
