❝One incapable of determining their own fate is a filthy insect.❞

Lilim was worried. The storm ended late that night and they woke up to find big sis and Celeste missing! It was awful, it was horrible, and Michael especially was in a fit. So when Minerva found them on Omega Island with Winona, Lilim explained everything and they were going to work together, just this once, to get back their missing family. Minerva used magic circles to search for big sis and Celeste at long range and determined that they were taken by the bandits living on the border, in the neutral territory between Heaven and Hell. So with an army of Dragon Knights, they made their attack. They had to be fast, because if they didn't make it on time, big sis and Celeste would be sold and might never ever be found!

Finally they were there, they made it to the auction and Michael did the first attack. Minerva stationed the Dragon Knights around the fortress, attacking anyone that tried to escape in the chaos. Lilim was going to help fight, too, as best as she could! So she had a knife, and she jumped into the fray, stabbing herself and transferring the pain and the injuries to the bad guys whenever she could. "Give them back!" Lilim shouted as Fin put enemies to sleep and Ami summoned shadow puppets to fight and confuse the enemies. Up at the front was a cage and Celeste was stuck in it, and she looked awful. "Lilim, go, get her out!" Ami ordered and the little succubus did just that. She hated war, she hated violence, but Lilim hated losing her friends even more than that. She was willing to give up on her ideals if it meant saving people she cared about!

"You're safe, we're here, we have you now." Lilim said over and over again, picking up the cage and flying it back to where Michael was fighting. The succubus beat her wings and flew overtop the crowd, then broke open the cage with the blade on her tail, freeing Celeste, hugging her in midair. "It's okay, you're safe now, promise! They won't hurt you again!" But the happiness was ruined when a roar echoed through the hall. A monster broke through the walls, letting out a scream that sounded way too human. It looked like a giant spider, with four long tentacles on one side and four scissor blades on the other, a whirlwind of violence and death. Big sis was there, but she was already too far gone. Lilim's eyes widened in horror and sadness. She knew what this was, of course. Big sis died and now she was a monster.

Michael grabbed onto Celeste and took Lilim by the arm, pulling them out the door, away from the fray but the succubus pulled herself out of his grasp. "That's my sister." Lilim whispered, trying not to cry. "She's my only sister, I have to-" The monster Kitra then pounced an enemy right next to the rescue team, cutting through all the auctioneers around them, appendages wriggling, electricity rippling through her. It then aimed a scissor at Michael and Lilim flitted in the way just in time, getting a scissor right in her belly. The demon let out a pained whimper, but she was used to pain, and once the blade was out, she weakly fluttered over to a fallen angel, transferring the wound to him. She aimed a dismal stare at Michael. "Please save her." She begged. "Please do something." But what else was there to do, except put her down?

❝A dream is a wish your heart makes. ❞

She didn't need to see him to know he was there, Michael had come to save her again, he was going to take her away from this awful place where they sold people as toys for those who could pay the outrageous fee. "Hang on Celeste!" She heard him call, no doubt struggling against Capricorn who was incredibly strong. "So, you've come to play Little Leo? You resemble a child putting on your father's clothes and trying to play adult!" He barked with laughter and Michael couldn't be heard. Celeste's heart thumped painfully in her chest, hearing nothing but swords. She should be out there, helping in some way! How could she though? Celeste was so weak and pitiful, easily overpowered by everyone. "You can mock me all you want, but the moment you dare say a word about my family is when you will speak your last!" There was a grunt, a cry, then it was over. Capricorn was dead, the Zodiac Leo being the winner. There were others though, rogues no doubt scrambling to take their boss's place.

Ami called to Lilim, the cage was lifted, no doubt by the healing succubus. "Lil!" Celeste cried joyfully. She still couldn't see anything, she was blindfolded and chained up like a puppet, but Celeste could feel the rocking of the wire cage no doubt meant to house a bird as Lilim flew her somewhere. Celeste's own wing fluttered pathetically, no doubt confused. "Thank you," Celeste said as Lilim told her it was over and she was safe now, finally, truly safe. "Thank you," Celeste said again, unable to truly express her joy. The bottom of the cage came off, she yelped as she suddenly fell, trying to right herself midair by using her one wing. Someone caught her and eased her to the ground. "It's alright, I have you know." Michael said, cutting through the chains. Celeste pulled off the blindfold, throwing her arms around him. "Here, take this." He took off his jacket, making Celeste put it on to cover up the skimpy thing she was forced to wear.

The roar of a monster could be heard, a familiar demon bursting through the wall in heavy chains. Celeste's eyes widened as she recognized her captor, a whirling dervish of tentacles and blades once more. "Oh no," Celeste took a step back. Lilim looked as though someone had shot her, Michael grabbed the two of them, pulling them out of the way of a scissor blade. Kitra pounced on the rogues, slicing through them, attacking with all of her might. "She's not dead," Celeste promised. "She did this before, she's just fighting for a way out!" It was far too hopeful, far too bright. Celeste couldn't stand to see Lilim so torn up. Fin and Ami regrouped with them, the five taking shelter behind the stage. Lilim was crying, begging for Michael to save her. However, even Celeste knew that this was far beyond his capability.

"I'll do it," Michael looked up at her, he grabbed her by the shoulders. "No," he said sternly. "You cannot fight," Celeste looked up at him, aiming a sad smile. "I can't let Lilim be all alone." Michael's hands were shaking a bit. "It reminds you of Zepar doesn't it?" His eyes widened and he shamefully hung his head. "Yes," he grasped at his shirt, no doubt feeling pain in his heart for the girl he loved more than life itself. "I'll go Lilim, she won't die. She's not allowed to." Celeste tensed up as she heard the monster, recalling how Kitra had nearly killed her before. "Fin, do you think you can send me into her mind?" Fin's eyes widened slightly, as though he couldn't believe that the Princess would address him. "Y-yes!" He said after an approving glance from both Ami and Michael. Fin set it up hurriedly. He explained the process to Celeste, then made a marking out of chalk on her forehead. Celeste's body slumped as she began to fall asleep, going into the head of the girl who had caused her so much pain.

|| Swan Song || Set it Off ||

It was much more colorful than what you'd expect of a room in Hell, there was a fluffy sort of purple carpet, bangles on strings decorating the walls, a warm sort of light on the ceiling, a little bed that still hasn't been outgrown just yet. It'd be easy to mistake this for just your average children's room, what with all the toys splattered across the floor, and the child playing with them only sold the deal. Young Kitra, about six years old, and her resemblance to Lilim was much more apparent here - she had those same weepy, droopy eyes before they were hardened by misery, and she still wasn't strong enough to hide all of her demon appendages, one tentacle and one scissor blade extended out from her lower back, almost like two tails. The girl picked up a new toy of hers - the others were all broken remnants of what once was, just painful memories that only made things worse.

"I'm going to name you Celty." Little Kitra said hopefully, staring at the miniature angel as if it would suddenly hop up and do a dance. But of course, it just lay there, motionless. "You have a name now! So you'll move, right? You'll keep me company?" But no matter how the child hoped, nothing would work. "The others are broken and they don't like Kit anymore, but you're different, okay, so move! Don't leave Kit all alone!" The child that was empty clung to everything around her to distract herself, she was already inhibiting early signs of being a Greed Demon. "Why won't you move?" Kitra blinked, and then she saw it, written in blood on the wall and she slowly read the words aloud. "...Because... I broke her?" She shook her head pathetically. "No, Kit didn't, she didn't, stop lying! I don't wanna be alone, okay?" But the doll still wasn't moving, the plastic smile was mocking her for hoping for anything different.

When Celeste opened her eyes, she was wafting through the darkness. It was thick and inhibiting, hard to move. "Find the light," she said to herself, repeating Fin's word in her head. The light, she needed to go towards it. Celeste began to swim, hoping that her hands could cut through the thick blinding nothingness that prevented her from seeing. "The light," Celeste remembered something. Angels had a natural draw towards the light, just like how demons did darkness. She closed her eyes, attempting to find the tug that would lead her in the right direction. "Up!" Celeste balled herself up, shooting herself up towards the light that was coming into view. Finally, the angel broke free, stumbling out of the pit and into a memory.

Little Kitra was panicking now. None of her toys were working, none of them were doing what they were supposed to do, all they were doing was leaving her, making her alone, none of them wanted to be with her. So, like any child, she threw a temper tantrum, cheeks flushed, tears threatening to form in the corners of her eyes as her tentacle thumped miserably on the floor and her scissor blade twitched a little, sweeping the floor. Written all over the walls were words, blaming her for breaking the toys, for being a terrible owner that didn't deserve toys at all. Then she stiffened and glanced behind her, sensing someone in the room with her. She was one of the big girls, and the only adult angel she's ever seen was Queen Callisto on a friendly visit. "Mommy's room is not this room, Cal, so go away!" Kitra just wanted to be alone with her broken toys, but she had a feeling Callisto wasn't going to leave her alone. So Kitra tried to stand as tall as she could, pouting angrily. "Kit's a big girl, so she doesn't want to see you!"

Celeste blinked, after declaring the memory not real, she was now standing in what was clearly a child's room. There was a pile of broken toys, discarded to the side, but no longer in the pile was the toy angel. Celeste looked around, seeing the words on the walls, horrible blames for breaking all of the toys, for being a tool of destruction. Sitting in the middle of the room, admist the sad scene was an awfully familiar little girl with black hair and a slightly upset expression. "I'm not Callisto," Celeste sat on the carpet. It was odd being taller than someone, Celeste was very much used to being the smallest in the room, it was sort of funny having a new perspective. "Callisto is my Mom, I'm Celeste." She looked around the room, wondering how she could prove it, then an idea struck her. "Lilim sent me."

The little demon narrowed her eyes as Callisto declared that she wasn't Callisto. The little girl went on her tippy toes and stared for a few seconds, puffing her cheeks out, balling her hands into little harmless fists. "...Cal has bigger these." She pointed at her own chest, not knowing what the correct word was. But she was still suspicious, though, this girl said she was Celeste but that didn't make sense because Celeste was Celty, her broken new toy that didn't work. "Nuh uh, this is Celty!" At this age, the child was still dependant on her tentacle, using it as a long hand, and it wrapped around the broken Celty doll. "But Kit didn't broked her, she didn't! The words are lying, they are!" She was struggling not to cry again when the strange angel mentioned her baby sister. "Lilim? How? She can't talk yet, she's a baby!" While in her grown up form, Kitra could definitely look threatening, it was impossible for anyone to think of her as dangerous in this pitiful child's form. Weak sparks flickered on her fingers, a modest beginning of what she'd eventually have. "Why are you here?"

"But I'm not broken, see?" Celeste took the doll gently from Kitra's tentacle, holding it up next to her so that Kitra could see the likeness between her and the toy. Celeste was actually a bit weirded out by the fact that Kitra had a doll of her that had been declared broken. So this was really how she was thought of? As a toy that Kitra could toy with and break? "People say mean, hurtful things sometimes, but you can't let it get to you." As a Princess, Celeste was often under a lot of criticism. She could often see the disappointment in her parent's eyes when she didn't turn out how they expected her to, when they had tried to teach her to wield a sword or knife or spear and Celeste had hurt herself more than the target. Celeste sat beside Kitra on the floor. "As Princesses, we're always getting called mean things aren't we? Useless, shameful, unworthy, but we aren't!" That's right, Celeste wasn't completely useless, sure she wasn't going to be a Zodiac, but it didn't mean that she was any less unworthy of the Angeal name. "What other people might see as broken, could in fact, be whole. See?" Celeste placed the doll on the floor, making the action figure pose. "Life is what we make of it, just like toys." Then Kitra said something about Lilim, how she was a baby and couldn't talk yet. "I didn't want Lilim to get sad, she cries a lot for you, you know? You shouldn't make your family cry."

When the Fake Celty said about how people said mean things, it prompted her to speak up and the child rubbed at her eyes, pretending she was just rubbibg sleep away. "The cur-current..-" She blushed, that word was hard for her to say. "The now Scorpio visited and told me I had what it took but no one believed me when I told! Ron laughed and Zep called me a liar and Fur told me to play with dolls!" Kitra blinked, confused, and looked down at the pile of toys. "...But they're broked, so how did they..." The child didn't understand that this was just a fake world so she was perplexed by all of this. "Kit isn't useless, she's not! And Celty isn't either!" Her eyes beamed for a moment but then she went quiet again. "Kit tried telling Ron that we should stay friends with angels but he said I'm a dummy and that peace is stupid." The child pouted bitterly, her self worth plummeting just at the thought."[/color]

Her eyes widened when Fake Celty picked up Celty and said funny things about how she wasn't broken or anything at all. And then somehow Fake Celty made Celty pose and move and the tentacle wriggled a little from the surprise. "How did you do that? Are you magic?" Little Kitra was obviously in awe at the scene before her, she couldn't understand what was happening. "So I didn't broked her? The words are lying?' A faint voice echoed through, Capricorn's voice, taunting her about how her scissor blade killed Celty and the girl whimpered a little, trying to shut her ears with her hands until it faded away. When that was done, Celty said that Lilim was sad and crying. "But my big bros and sisses left and made me cry...." A hint of her future stubbornness was growing. "Kit doesn't want to go back to where her family is broked with only three left, she wants to stay here." As if to prove her point, she crossed her arms and let her tentacle act as her feet to make her look taller.

"You're siblings are just jealous, they believe you, but they probably don't want to show it because they're afraid you'll be a better Zodiac than them." There, that made sense didn't it? Celeste didn't know what sort of reasoning child Kitra had, but she could see signs of the same greed and bratiness that the Demon Queen was known for. "One day you'll be Queen and they'll all be bowing at your feet and singing your praises." Celeste would never be Queen, not unless she married a King, which at the moment, was impossible. There were four before her for the throne, four very qualified siblings who were much wiser and stronger than the young angel could ever be. "You're not useless, trust me." Celeste nearly rolled her eyes, but somehow she resisted. It was sort of funny how the two of them had such similar worries. "I know you're not and you know how? Because in the future, you save a lot of people. You save Lilim and even me. Which is why I'm here, because you saved me from Valafar, you saved me from my self. When I was broken, you were the one that fixed me."

The demon seemed to be in awe of how Celeste could so easy manuever the doll so that it was in a pose. "What? This? I just poked her a little." Celeste put the replica toy in another position, wondering if there was some secret magic only she possessed. Celest wiggled her fingers, "It just takes a little bit of patience." Kitra said something else though, she seemed sad then, saying that her siblings left and made her cry. "They might be gone now, but they're not gone forever. One day they'll be reborn and they'll always live on in your heart." It was only just then that Celeste realized what Kitra was saying before, about how she knew it wasn't Callisto because her mounds weren't big enough. Celeste's cheeks flushed red in embarrassment. "This isn't real Kitra and if you stay here, you'll leave Lilim all alone. Then she'll lose the only person she has left." Celeste wanted to simply drag Kitra back up with her. "You're her big sister Kitra, you can't leave her all alone. It'll break her."

Jealous? What was there to be jealous of? Even Kitra was aware of her weakness, she couldn't hold a spear, she couldn't make big electricities and when she tried it was really painful and hurted her and she didn't like it, not one bit. She was quiet, because Kitra didn't really want to be Queen, she wanted Ron to be King and she didn't want to marry her brother, that was just weird. But having them bow to her a little, having them acknowledge her, she'd love that, she would! Fake Celeste then talked about impossible things, about the future. "You're from the future?" The child asked, full of wonder. And then in a rare moment of insight, "Am I broked and you're fixing me now, then?" The future Demon Queen frowned suspiciously and poked Celty and she flopped over into a sad heap. "It doesn't work for me." More words appeared then, triggered by her touching the doll, blaming her for cutting off her wing, and just as promised, the doll's wing was torn off by an invisible force. "I shouldn't have toys, I only break them, Kit's not good like you, Fake Celty."

But it seemed that something was changing when Celty mentioned how Lilim was going to be all alone. The pain Kit had from losing most of her family, it would be even worse for Lilim, who would have another face to mourn, right? The room darkened then, and it seemed to blur around the edges, a dark red sort of color covered everything like a filter. "Why did we have to lose our family? Why won't we have a happy family reunion?" Bitterness was rising, pressure impossible for most children to bear was building. But child Kitra was purer than the current Kira and so she did what a child would - she clinged to a mentor figure, this time being Fake Celty. "Will you fix broked Kit?" The girl asked in a weak voice. "Will you be Kit's friend? Not a toy, a friend! Okay??' Before Celty could give an answer, the room fragmented and split apart.

Kitra's body in the real world slowly shifted back, painfully, to her humanoid form, but her back was bleeding horribly, all the skin torn off by her tentacles and scissors stretching out to fulfill her monster form. There was a brief moment of consciousness but she passed out from her wounds, the first demon to ever be taken out of her fully fledged monster form. Lilim caught her and helped tow her over to the others, crying and then the succubus glomped Celty, whimpering endless thanks over and over again, for doing what most angels never ever would.

Celeste awoke with a start, feeling tired. She bolted upright, her head spinning from sitting up too quickly. "Did it work?" She asked, looking to the others who gave their thumbs up. Celeste had done it, she had retrieved Kitra from the depths of her mind, just like Kitra had done for her when Celeste had retreated into her own mind after not wanting to be hurt anymore. Kitra had done something similar, only she didn't want to hurt others anymore. Lilim grabbed her in a hug attack, wrapping her arm around Celeste and thanking her over and over. "It's okay, it's a thanks for healing me all of those times." Celeste smiled, glad that she got to repay that debt to Lilim before finally getting to return home. "Make sure you come visit me in Heaven, I'll leave your name at the gate." Celeste said, hoping that she and Lilim could remain friends. It was a bit sad to realize that Lilim was Celeste's first friend outside of the family and staff.

At home she wasn't allowed to interact with most and the nobles Celeste didn't exactly consider friend. They were always out to sabotage her family and try to gain more power for themselves. Of course, her parents were smart and didn't allow that to happen. "I'll finally get to go home." Michael gestured to her. "Come on, they're expecting us. We don't want to be late for dinner," Celeste nodded, trying to get up. She blinked then, looking down at her legs. "I-I can't move." The Princess didn't seem panicked or afraid, more startled and surprised than anything. "I can't feel my limbs." Was this from before? From how Kitra had sliced through her with that scissor blade? Was there some damage unknown by the fallen angel doctor? Unknown to Celeste, there was a magic circle stuck to her that had been planted inside of Michael's jacket. Celeste was but a doll once more, unable to do anything but speak and breathe.

"Don't try to move, you might hurt yourself." Michael attempted to step forward, but a magical barrier stopped him. Michael, Fin, and Ami were all trapped inside of their own individual magical cylinders. Minerva and her army revealed themselves then, they had been there all along, lying in wait to spring their trap. "My Queen, Winona is awaiting." Minerva bowed with a flourish as a soldier announced the arrival of the dragon. "No," Celeste whimpered, struggling. "No, I want to go home." Celeste didn't want to go back there, where the sun didn't quite touch the sky and she was not allowed to so much as take a bath without being supervised. "Please I-" Celeste was stopped when someone put something in her mouth. With terrible clarity, Celeste realized that it was a pacifier. Her cheeks burned and she turned her head away so that no one could see, her forehead hitting one of Lilim's mounds.

"My Queen, would you like us to detain the angels for questioning? Or execute them for attempting to take your property?" Michael slammed himself against the barrier, attempting to break free. "Let us out!" He yelled angrily, feathers ruffling in agitation. "I swear if you so much as lay a finger on Celeste I will have your head!" Minerva snapped her fingers. Michael's threats were no longer audible and Minerva was clearly awaiting her command. "The dragon is growing anxious," a soldier reported, clearly a bit nervous. They had the whole dragon knight force there, detaining three angels would be an easy task.

It was meant to have been impossible. For demons, there was a clear moment of no return, and Kitra definitely crossed it when she became a demon. She could still remember, Capricorn taunted her with bloody cat fur, telling her that she killed Celty, that her scissor blade went right through her, she was supposed to be dead, and Kitra just lost control of herself, she couldn't stop the tentacles and scissors from coming out like a whirlwind of death and agony. She was completely at the mercy of her bestial self, the self that all demons were constantly trying to hold in - well, other than Lilim, who seemed to have a defect in that she completely lacked a bestial side - and... somehow, somehow she was coaxed out of the madness that no other demon ever escaped before.

It seemed that that was going to be the end of it, then. Celty would be going back, Lilim was saying her goodbyes, flitting about like the social butterfly she was, but that was when Minerva struck, and just like that, all four angels were captured, immobilized. It was so easy for her that Kitra wondered if a part of her might have planned for this all along. Now she didn't just have Celty, but three more angels. Minerva was grinning up at her, as if expecting praise for all the hard work, bringing in Winona who definitely looked happy to be reunited with everyone. The Demon Army was here, and Kitra knew that now she had a conflict with herself. Her duty as a big sister told her to let the angels go, but her duty as the Demon Queen told her to do what was best for the people she ruled over.

"..Take them to the Onyx Citadel." Kitra said loudly, not allowing any hesitation to show on her face. Lilim's face was one of shock, she looked as if she was just betrayed, a whole range of emotions going through her face before finally having a vague sort of frown that couldn't be read. "But as guests. If we can keep them away from the battlefield, we'll take less losses in the war." This time Kitra walked up to each of the angels in turn, drawing a special magic circle that only she knew the runes to - a magic circle to seal the angels in the Onyx Citadel, unable to leave without her permission. "What are you doing?" Lilim grabbed her arm, eyes sharp and furious. "We're going to let them go, right? Minerva, we have to, this isn't right!"

That's right. Kitra had to do what was right for her people. She was a Demon Queen, she didn't have the luxury of doing whatever she wanted anymore. She had to choose the path of least death for her people, and this was the way to do it. This decision, would Ronove be proud of her? Would Zepar be praising her? So they went back to the Onyx Citadel, the angels were stripped of any weapons and given magic circles to seal their powers and strength, but were otherwise free to walk where they wished (within the borders of the building) and Kitra also made absolutely clear that they were hers, no one was allowed to touch them or hurt them without her express permission. "No torture, understood?" The Demon Queen reiterated, making absolutely sure everyone got the memo this time. "They're guests. Unless you think the Demon Army is too weak to win without resorting to tricks."

But that wasn't enough, it seemed, and Lilim slapped her hard on the face, eyes brimming with tears. "I can't believe you!" The succubus screeched, every part of her body was shaking with rage. "We made friends with them, sis, why? Why? They saved you, we can't - we have to let them go home - this isn't - it's not right" The Demon Queen grimaced, trying to get rid of the misery deep inside. Personal feelings weren't allowed to get into the equation, not with all the demon lives at stake. "I have to do what's right for my subjects." But Lilim wasn't going to just accept that answer. "Then I want nothing to do with you anymore! You're not my big sister!" And with that Lilim dashed out of the Great Hall, flying away as fast as her wings would take her.Kitra stiffened, no she couldn't just -

But it was too late, it was useless, all useless.

Celeste was clearly unhappy, even with the pacifier she could still look mad, although she looked just about as threatening as a kitten trying to pounce on a much bigger pillow. The emotional turmoil caused the angel to change back into a kitten and so now she was a kitten with a pacifier, somehow having come to rest between Lilim's chest. The kitten couldn't move or wiggle out with the magic circle on her back either. How could Kitra do this? She thought that the angel and demon were going to be leaving on good terms, but now, this was going too far. Celeste would have been able to live with it if it was just herself getting captured, but her brother and his servants too? Now Kitra crossed a line. If the girl hadn't done this then perhaps an alliance between the two nations could have been formed, but now she had thrown all possibility of that out the window.

Michael had valuable information on the Kingdom, unlike Celeste who knew next to nothing about the place she lived thanks to her Mother and Father sheltering the little angel for her entire life. Minerva picked Celeste up off of Lilim's chest, pinching at the skin behind her neck in the same way a mama cat would carry her kittens. She placed Celeste in Kitra's grip once more, the kitten limp and unable to put up a struggle. From there they went onto Winona's back and Celeste was no longer able to see her brother as he was taken on a different dragon. The angel just wanted to go home, to sleep in her bed and hug her Mother and Father and tell them that they were right all along. The outside world offered nothing for a weak angel who couldn't even use her power correctly.

Even though they were guests, they still weren't happy. Michael fought tooth and nail as he was dragged to the Onyx Citadel and stripped of his weapon and power. "You traitor," he hissed to Kitra as he was pulled away so that he couldn't attack her. It took roughly ten dragon knights to restrain Michael from lashing out at the Queen. Celeste was no happier, she was taken by Minerva again, "I'll put the Princess in your room." The servant said, lifting Celeste up by her neck and carrying her away. Once back in the room on the little bed that had been dragged in for her, Celeste turned human once more. Minerva took off the magical circle and Celeste spit out the pacifier, jumping up to attack. The angel was easily overpowered and pinned to the bed. "Do not forget that you are the property of the Queen." The servant pulled something out of her pocket, fastening it around Celeste's neck before letting the angel go and leaving the Queen's room.

"I hate you!" Celeste screamed to the empty room, ripping off the skimpy outfit angrily. There were a pair of clothes waiting for her at the end of the bed, a white dress with purple accents. "I want to go home," the angel teared up, hugging the pillow and rocking herself slightly on the bed. Maybe Michael could work out a deal? He could teach Kitra the magic to make plants grow and in return, the Demon Queen would let them go. Freedom had been so close, so tantalizingly close when it was ripped away again. No doubt it would be dangled like a carrot in front of her face, only to never be reached. Would she be Kitra's toy forever? Would she never get to go home and see her Mother and Father again?

Like Ronove and Zepar before them, this time it was Cambion and Kitra who were at odds. The family was in shambles, bit by bit it was breaking, and the Demon Queen was slowly realizing that she was running out of things to care about in this world. So many times in the past, Ronove and Zepar would fight and argue and it took an idiot not to notice it. Yet despite that, there was another contender, there was someone else playing the political game as well. Cambion, the enemy no one could predict. He was in charge of the pacifist movement, separate from Valafar yet powerful all the same. He and Lilim and Buer were always a part of it, and after Ronove's death, it ensured that he had at least half of the votes when it was time to decide on war matters. It was only when Buer realized his weakness being implicit in the disaster that struck the Vacivus family that something changed.

"What are you thinking, Kitra?" Cambion growled. He wasn't bothering to hide his involvement anymore, everything was out in the open for the remainders of the family to see. "You should have just let them go. Are you that obsessed with death?" Kitra stared at him with nothing but animosity. Maybe once upon a time they loved each other, but Kitra had to devote herself to the war now. Nothing else mattered. She held a grudge against the angels, and her responsibilities as a Queen only added even more pressure. "I'd lose control of the court if I did anything else." Kitra said plainly, speaking the truth. "They respect me because of my strength, but if I gave up on the war, all of that respect would disappear. Hell would dissolve into chaos, with noble houses competing against one another for the throne." Of course, it didn't need to be stated that she'd be dead if that were to come to pass.

If there was going to be chaos either way, at least like this she could control it, at least a little bit. At least it wouldn't just be demons dying, but angels as well. It wasn't fair if only demons had to deal with this instability, right? Or was this just her demented mind trying to make sense of things in the absence of her sister? "Because of politics, you let Lilim run off, all on her own!" Cambion was the type to sleep and nap and relax all the time, so for him to shed that side of him - well, Kitra knew what was about to happen. There was no stopping it. She was going to be alone. "She made her choice." The Demon Queen turned away, hiding the pain at Lilim's abandonment.

It was her destiny, wasn't it? This was always how it was going to be. Little Kitra, left behind by everyone and everything. Even her siblings that were alive were going to abandon her, just like that. And Celty clearly wasn't going to want to talk to her at all, nor did any of the other angels. She was all alone now. "I'm taking my servant and Lilim's and we're going to find her." Cambion stepped out of the room, not even turning back for one last look. "Don't expect to see us again. Kitra wasn't going watch him leave. All of these horrible emotions were rising up and Kitra already hear that needling voice in the back of her mind, telling her that she was breaking her toys again.

There was no one guarding the door, if Celeste wanted to, she could try to go out and find her brother. Perhaps they could devise a plan and escape before Kitra could torture him for information. Michael was strong, he could withstand torture, it wouldn't be the first time that her brother has been captured by a demon. Celeste got off of the bed, there was no time for moping. If she couldn't find Michael, then Celeste would look for Ami or Fin to relay her message. The Princess tip toed to the door, poking her head out to see if there was anyone there. There was no one guarding the Queen's room, unlike at home where there was an around the clock watch on Celeste's and her parents rooms to ward off unwanted visitor. It hadn't scared away Kitra's people though so perhaps those knights were futile. Besides that fact, Celeste's parents most certainly could handle themselves in a fight.

Celeste wasn't halfway down the hall when she heard someone coming up behind her. Celeste was suddenly shoved into the wall, her shoulders pressed against it painfully. "You! You're the one who made the family split up! Who made Lilim leave!" It was a very angry looking servant. "I didn't do anything!" Celeste snapped, suddenly feeling her body changing. The girl was now a puppy, small with fluffy looking fur. In this form, Celeste ran off, leaving a very confused servant behind. It was only once Celeste thought it to be safe that she allowed her body to turn back. The angel panted, not used to running such short distances on such tiny legs. Even with four, it was still a bit hard when the hallway was much bigger than you. "I have... to find them." Celeste said, getting up on two feet. The castle seemed awfully quiet with no Lilim bounding around with smiles and fluttering pink hair.

"Ami!" Celeste spotted the servant of her brother, then quickly covered her mouth as she realized how loud she was. Ami turned, hearing her name and bound over to Celeste, looking urgent. "We're scoping for a plan of escape," Ami informed her quietly, bringing Celeste into a corner out of view. "I don't know where any of the exist are, I don't even know how I got here." The only path Celeste knew of in this castle was how to get from the dungeon to Lilim's room. "I wish I could be more helpful," Celeste looked at her feet, feeling useless as always. Ami brought Celeste in, hugging her tightly. "You're not useless, you just don't fight well. You're great at other things though and your family loves you." Ami took something out of her utility belt, they had taken all of her weapons from it so it was empty except for one thing. Celeste's eyes widened in recognition as she saw the stuffed rabbit.

"Aries!" Celeste said happily, hugging the stuffed animal she had named after her mother's Zodiac. It was a comfort to have something so familiar from home. "I missed her," Celeste snuggled the animal, clearly happy. Ami pat her head, "Leave the planning to us, you just try to hold up against that nasty Queen." Celeste nodded, Ami had to go now, she needed to prepare. "I hope you find something." Celeste said, watching Ami go off. The girl hugged the rabbit, walking back towards Kitra's room. "We'll get out of here Aries, I promise." She murmured, tripping on her own feet.

|| Swan Song || Set it Off ||

With Cambion and Lilim gone, who else was there that Kitra could really trust anymore? She had Minerva, Minerva who was one of the most dedicated and loyal demons there were, she was willing to do horrible things if it meant others were spared that sort of pain. Ktira admired her for it, even when she was younger. Minerva was seen by many as cruel and vicious, but Kitra thought she was kind and gentle, far kinder than most would ever admit. The general was the one who would willingly do dirty deeds if necessary so that no one else would have to. She was the most willing to abduct, to torture, to slaughter, if it meant she was the only one that had to carry that burden. There was no one who wanted victory and happiness for the demons than General Minerva, leader of the Dragon Knights.

Then she saw something appear before her, a magic circle. Kitra instinctively tense, but then a familiar voice went through. One of her spies in Heaven was talking to her, Alloces, whose power was throwing his hearing to be able to hear anywhere he liked for a certain period of time. "Alloces, what's your report?" Alloces's voice went through, and Ktira was glad for his service. She knew he was primarily loyal to Furfur, as one of Furfur's intelligence agents, and he took the flaming demon's death quite hard, so the current Demon Queen was thankful he was still willing to help someone comparatively incompetent like her. "Heaven isn't doing well." Alloces reported in a businesslike voice. "There's infighting in the Angeal Royal Family over the disappearance of Michael and Celeste, and other Angel noble houses are noticing."

So there was dissent in the angel ranks? Interesting, every interesting. "It seems Raphael is at the head of this new faction. I'll report again later once I know more." Still, that was enough for the Demon Queen. Gabriel was the one that guarded Heaven's Gate, so if If he was the only of the royal siblings left supporting their parents, Kitra was going to take advantage of the opening. No longer would demons be forced to live in this dark, barren land. Demons too, would be allowed to live in the light if they so wished, to see the beautiful sights that were impossible within the borders of Hell. And so Kitra drew a magic circle, one to broadcast her voice

"This is your Queen speaking." That's right. She would focus on the war effort so that she wouldn't have to think about her loneliness, so she wouldn't have to go back to wondering why her toys weren't working anymore. "I'll give you until the end of the day to mobilize everything we have. It's time to down Heaven's Gate." Of course, she was going to bring Celty along with her. "Other than Celty and Michael, the angels will be remaining here. They aren't to be harmed, and they'll have guards on them at all times." Meanwhile the two royal angels would be joining her to the front line, but be bound so that they couldn't interfere or cause any trouble.

Once the announcement was over, Avara dashed to her side, the last of the sin servants. All the others either died or deserted, and now it was just two Greed Demons left. "I'll be in charge while you're off to war." Avara said quietly, fluffing up her french maid outfit she stole from the human realm. "Be careful. No matter what happens, Minerva and Winona and I believe in you, even if no one else does." Kitra forced a smile but her heart was already frozen over. She wouldn't let anyone in again, she would never be hurt again. "Do your best, Avara. I'm counting on you."

The two then walked into her room where she found a fallen Celty. Kitra's cheeks burned and she turned away, many could interpret this as shame for her actions. "...Pack what you like for the war march. Winona would be glad to fly with you again." The Demon Queen didn't really know what to do around Celty anymore. "I have people researching how to fix your wing, if it counts for anything." Okay, this was way too awkward, and Kitra didn't want to deal with this anymore. So with a turn of the heel she left the hall, knowing it was pointless to try and talk to Celty in the first place. What was she looking in the angel princess, anyways? There was no comfort here, nor was there anywhere, not for someone wretched like her.

"No!" Celeste yelped as she tripped, knowing that it was too late to go back. Right as she fell to the ground, the door opened, revealing an embarrassing pantie-shot to Kitra, who was standing right there. Celeste squealed, grabbing the back of her dress to cover herself and then used Aries, just in case she could still see them. Kitra's cheeks turned bright red and the demon looked away, causing Celeste's cheeks to turn bright red and look away. She was a virgin, the only person who had seen her naked were Celeste's servants, and now Kitra, Lilim, and Cambion. Even so, it was still just as embarrassing. "Don't look!" Celeste cried, hoping that nothing was seen. Well, nothing important at least since Kitra had seen just about everything else; from Celeste's unimpressive mounds to the tips of her toes. It had been quite embarrassing before when Celeste had poofed into a kitten and fell right into the space between Lilim's chest.

In that moment, Kitra told her to pack, saying that Winona would gladly fly with her again. "Don't you think it's cruel to make me watch the destruction of everything I hold dear? Or is this part of your revenge as well?" Not only was Celeste going to be dragged to it, but Michael as well. The two siblings, oldest and youngest, would have the honor of watching their entire family possibly die. "I don't want them to disappear," Celeste whimpered. Should that happen, Michael would become King and Celeste would be lonely, walking the halls on her own, no longer having a sister to take tea with in the afternoon or two brothers to tease her and make Celeste smile when she was feeling sad. There would be no more happy balls or birthday parties, the hallways would be devoid of laughter, of the happy sounds that once filled it. At least until Michael took a wife and she bore children, not that, that was going to be soon considering he was still recovering from the loss of Zepar, his one true love.

Kitra turned away, saying that she had people researching on how to grow Celeste's wing back. For some reason, Celeste felt a stirring in her stomach. As Kitra began to leave, Celeste scrambled to her feet. "Kitra, wait!" Celeste reached out as though to touch her, then realized her mistake and picked up Aries from the ground, hugging the stuffed rabbit instead. "Thank you... for saving me. From Valafar... and from myself." Celeste wasn't even sure if Kitra had heard it, the demon had turned tail and left, the door slamming behind her. Celeste sunk to the ground, wondering if there was any reason left for her to continue in this fight. What was the point? Celeste was going to lose her family, she was going to watch her Kingdom burn as the Demon's advanced, no doubt attempting to overtake Heaven for themselves. Had the peace treaty been signed, the gates would have opened, trade would have improved greatly and the technology to make the plants grow would have been shared. Instead there was war, famine, and disease, the characteristics of a terrible rule. Unfortunately, these were the things that had been handed to Kitra.

I've been treated so wrong, I've been treated so long, as though I'm becoming untouchable.

The words echoed in Celeste's mind. She had nothing to pack, she had no belongings here aside from Aries whom she could carry with her. Celeste stood in shaking legs, going over to the beside where the painting for Lilim lay, nearly halfway through. Celeste sat down and began to paint over it in a sudden moment of inspiration. The door opened, someone came in. Minerva was there once more, no doubt to see to it that Celeste was properly chained up. "Please, give this to Kitra for me." Celeste said, handing the freshly dried painting to a servant. It was time for chains, ones that went on her wrists and ankles, a muzzle, a leash that attached to the collar she was forced to wear. "Is this all necessary?" Celeste asked, rather annoyed. "I won't flee from the top of the dragon." She was given no answer and so, with her head held high, Celeste marched out, getting tugged along by the leash.

|| Swan Song || Set it Off ||

Angel princess and Demon Queen, hated enemies, looked away in mutual embarrassment. Whatever happened to the old days, when they could argue each other's ears off? Now it was as if there wasn't even any talking being done at all. At least before, even if it was hatred, at least there was still interaction, at least there was something to fill the emptiness of the once filled halls of the Onyx Citadel. Once there were fun little slumber parties where Cambion and Buer would organize mini festivals to cheer everyone up, there was Furfur and Zepar's nightly chats as they thought of a way to prank and humiliate Ronove, there was Lilim and Ronove, eldest and youngest, the succubus teaching him how to have a tea party. But now all of it was gone, and even her living siblings left her behind.

"At least you won't have to be the one to kill them." The Demon Queen stated with no sympathy in her voice. "Angels don't turn into monsters." She stared at Celty, none of her previous antagonism was there, just a dead sort of washed out expression was on her face. "I had to put them down myself. I killed my siblings. You won't have to worry about that." It was a mercy, it was a blessing. At night, the Demon Queen was haunted by that fateful battlefield where she lost everything. "You think I wanted my family to disappear? No one wants that to happen, but it happens nevertheless." That was the cruel truth of this world.

Kitra was surprised when Celty called her back. She stiffened and slowed her step just enough to hear the tiny thanks, words she never expected. Without meeting the angel's eyes, Kitra spoke. "I brought you here, so you're under my protection. That won't happen again." And with that she left, cape swishing with each step. She traveled to where Michael was resting after picking up a certain something. Michael, to no one's surprise, had chosen Zepar's room to stay. "Here. She'd want you to have it." The Demon Queen tossed Zepar's old favorite hair ribbon, black and in a tow shape, she always wore it on her head. The Greed Demon stared awkwardly at the eldest angel sibling, then quickly vanished. What was there to even talk about, anyways?

A few hours later, it was time to start the fight. The dragons were all equipped, and Kitra and Minerva were the two heads in charge. That was when Minerva walked over, a little grin on her face. "Here, for you." It was a painting, the one that was being made for Lilim. The Demon Queen took it silently and affixed it inside of her back, which was fastened to Winona. Celty was already there, and Michael was placed on Minerva's dragon. "It's time for war!" Kitra shouted. She didn't need fancy speeches or anything, all that mattered was victory. "I don't need to tell you all what to do. We're taking that golden gate for ourselves. This is our one chance." All she heard next was the deafening sound of thousands of dragon's wings beating in unison, a raucous symphony of war.

"The difference is that you have a choice! You don't have to kill them! You don't have to ruin anyone's lives! Please Kitra, I beg of you, cease this war! Divert your funds into bettering the lives of your people!" Her words were going to fall on deaf ears, Kitra was too stubborn and proud. Someone like Kitra would rather die than admit that they were wrong about something. "You've already lost your family, don't take mine too." Celeste choked back a sob, knowing that not everyone was going to come out of this alive. "Please don't do this." It wasn't going to happen though, Kitra would not back down, the war was just around the corner now and Celeste could have sworn she could hear death's door knocking. Everyone had a choice, whether or not you chose the right thing was the path that made the most difference. If Kitra called off the war, she could focus her efforts on food distribution, on rebuilding cities so that the houses were not stacked on atop another.

Instead, Celeste was chained up. "I want to bring Aries with me." Celeste said, feeling awfully cold and slow as the chains weighed her down. "Fine," Celeste was handed her rabbit. She followed them out, the leash tugging her to walk faster and keep in stride with the one holding the leash. It was embarrassing being walked out like this, chained and muzzled, nothing like a Princess. Wherever had the spoiled Princess gone? Now Celeste looked weary. There were bags on her eyes, she had lost a lot of weight and walked with her feet dragging along the floor since the chains were too heavy to move much in. It was clear that the angel was quickly deteriorating from being out of the light and sunshine for so long. The feathers on her remaining wing didn't seem as white or sparkly, her hair had lost its sheen and her eyes its shine. Celeste hadn't had a good sleep that wasn't plagued by nightmares since she had been removed from her home.

"Please, spare them and kill me instead, I will gladly die for my Kingdom." Celeste said once faced with Kitra again. No doubt they all expected her to be dead anyways, no one would have thought that the demon Queen would have even kept the angel alive, there was really no reason for her to other than amusement, which was what had kept Celeste living this long anyhow. Celeste was Kitra's toy for enjoyment, a pet to torment however she pleased. This was one matter Celeste was going to fight tooth and nail on, one bad decision that could change the plains of both worlds forever. Michael didn't look as though he was doing much better. As creatures of light, they had to maintain a certain amount of light otherwise they began to deteriorate. Celeste had already started, the darkness and being kept in basements and torture cells kick starting.

Up on Winona, it was a view that Celeste sorely missed. No doubt her wing would never be fixed, it was probably just an empty promise made to quell Celeste. Seeing her home, being so close to the gate, it made Celeste greatly homesick. "I want to go home," she whimpered, squeezing Aries to make the feeling go away. They were going to charge heaven's gate, to attempt to storm the castle. Meanwhile the angels were waiting for them, no doubt expecting the attack or perhaps simply guarding the border from rebels. Celeste turned towards another dragon when she saw it, her eyes widening. Celeste aid nothing as Michael overpowered Minerva and jumped off of the dragon, opening up his wings. "Go! Save them!" Celeste screamed so loudly that her throat was raw.

❝One incapable of determining their own fate is a filthy insect.❞

ɗιαƖσgυє cσƖσя:#8f8c89 ♙ тнσυgнт cσƖσя #7D65B3

|| Swan Song || Set it Off ||

They were here now, flying over the skies of Hell. All the dragons were approaching it, the golden gate that shone luxuriously, as if taunting the lane of poverty and famine with how much money and power they had. It was just another sign of angel self righteousness, showing off how much better they were compared to the savage, barbaric demons. Kitra was going to prove that gate wrong and take it for the sake of the Demon Army. This was the fastest way to improve the lives of those she ruled, this was the fastest way to better everything for them. "I don't want you to die." Kitra admitted when Celty made her offer, she spoke quietly, so that no one else would have to hear her weakness. "You'll be safe." She promised that much already.

The battle was about to begin. The Dragon Knights were swooping down on Heaven's Gate in waves, attacking at the defending angels with fire and brute strength. There was a weak voice from behind her, begging to go home. "Soon." But it probably wasn't exactly what Celty was thinking of when she meant return home. "If possible, take the angels prisoner. We'll not spill more blood than necessary." The Demon Queen ordered and Minerva relayed the information to all of the knights, using her power, acting as a mental broadcast for everyone with her sigil. As Minerva did this, that was when Michael struck, overpowering Minerva and escaping, taking flight.

It was time, then, wasn't it? "Winona, stay up and above the fight, keep Celty safe! Don't let her get off!" The dragon let out a neighing sound and so Kitra jumped off, cape whirling as air rushed passed her. She used her own flying technique, spinning her spear like a helicopter, using electricity to speed up the rotations. She chased Michael down in midair, crashing into him. "Don't interrupt" But then a light went off and Kitra shut her eyes off just in time - which was just what Michael expected, and he spun his body in the air so that a chain would wrap around her throat. "I'll send you to the family you love so much." The eldest angel sibling growled, twisting harder with the chain and so Kitra let loose a powerful electric shock, forcing Michael to pull away from her, but she wasn't letting her prey get away this easily. She dove forward, grabbing Michael by the wing and the two crashed against Heaven's Gate in unison.

Now they were on the ground, dwarfed by the golden gate. Minerva recovered and was taking command, giving orders faster than most people could think, scanning the battlefield perfectly from the thousands of eyes she could 'borrow', making the Dragon Knights one seamless perfect fighting force, each knight with another to cover its weaknesses, no opening would be exposed. Kitra already knew, of course. She had to fight Michael, because otherwise he would disrupt Minerva's commanding. But she couldn't win against him either, not like this.

So the Demon Queen did what she could, she tapped into her bestial side, and let out a scream as the flesh on her back tore open for the tentacles and scissor blades to reveal themselves. "Using your trump card so soon, huh?" Michael snapped, and Kitra launched herself at him, spear whirling, electricity flaring. She had the advantage, Michael was still chained and unarmed, she could still take him out like this. The Demon Queen crashed against Michael, attacking in whatever way she could to keep him from screwing up her plans any more than they already were. Meanwhile, the gate was being worn down, the defenders were losing, and already signs of wear and tear were forming on the gold. It was just a matter of time until it spilled open and the ground army could join in on the fight to reinforce from below.

"Minerva!" Kitra shouted, still maintaining some semblance of sanity, still wrestling with Michael. She pointed a tentacle to the distance and there it was, a new legion of angels was approaching, and at the head of it was Gabriel Angeal, the Gate's Guardian. Now, the plan could finally come to fruition. "Minerva, regroup the Dragon Knights and have them all overwhelm Gabriel's unit!" As powerful as Gabriel was, the Dragon Knights outnumbered the angels he brought with him. Kitra already knew why Gabriel couldn't bring the whole angel army with him - because many of them made for Raphael and Mizuki's faction, and they were disrupting Heaven's organization as much as they could.

"Michael!" Celeste screamed as soon as Kitra jumped off so that her brother could predict it. "Fly away!" He was going to the gate, going to defend Heaven. Even barefoot and weaponless, Leo the Zodiac had the fighting spirit of a lion. "Please make it, please make it." Celeste pleaded, going onto her knees. Celeste was never fond of praying, but right then, Celeste whispered a prayer. "Please let my family come out of this alive and whole." Then Celeste got back on her feet, wondering if she could jump off of Winona too. From this height, with her body the way it was, Celeste wasn't certain she could make it to the ground. Her body was recharing on sun being at the Gate, she could feel it illuminating inside of her, renewing her, making her body seem refreshed. Her shine came back, her hair and feathers were white once more. "Look out!" Celeste screamed, "Micha-!" Something was stuck to her, a magic circle. Celeste at first ignored it, wondering why she couldn't scream.

It took the angel a few minutes to realize that a magical circle had been slapped on her so that she couldn't yell Kitra's moves. She opened her mouth to scream, to speak, to do something, but nothing was working and Celeste felt tired and weak. She collapsed against Winona's flank, moaning silently. Celeste felt as though she could no longer stand on her own feet, her body shook from lack of energy, lack of sunlight. Celeste panted, trying to take it all in. Her body was so starved for it, like drinking cold lemonade on a warm day. Celeste couldn't bear to watch the fight, seeing the two at odds made her stomach churn oddly. This wasn't how the story was supposed to go, they was supposed make peace, there was supposed to be a happy ending where no one had any smiles or joy. So Celeste rolled onto her back and began to wiggle. If she could tickle Winona, if she could make the dragon go down ad make an escape for her brother who was soon to come.

"Winona, dive!" Celeste tried, but the dragon simply wiggled happily in the air, turning back to lick her. It seemed that Winona too, thought of Celeste as merely her doll. "Go down!" Celeste tried again, pointing down, but it was useless. It wasn't like she could dive off and fly like her brother and she couldn't control the dragon. "Not again," Celeste looked at her hands in frustration. "Why am I so powerless? Why am I so useless!" Then, a thought struck her. Celeste scuffled with her chains, wondering if there was somehow a way to get them off. Maybe if she turned small enough, she could shed them? "I have to try," Winona turned to see what all of the fuss was about. "Struggle, struggle, even more. I'm not done fighting yet!" With a bright burst of light from having absorbed what she could, Celeste turned herself into a mouse. The chains came off, as well as her clothes, leaving behind a mystery. "Shit, no!" Minerva yelled, but it was too late. Celeste turned back into herself, running and diving off of the dragon. "Turn!" Celeste screamed, hoping that she could do it one more time.

"Come on, any second now." The ground was getting closer and Celeste couldn't feel her power listening. "Once more, please." She closed her eyes, ready to hit the ground when suddenly, Celeste was a bird, small and light, able to flit between her brother and Kitra's battle towards Gabriel, marching forward with his own army. "Tweet, chirp, chirp!" She tried, flitting around Gabriel's head. "Move," he said gently, not willing to harm a helpless animal. "Tweet! Tweet!" Celeste felt herself changing again, this time it was outside her control. "The Princess!" A few soldiers gasped. "Celeste!" Gabriel cried, wrapping his cloak around her. "You can't fight, this is what the demon queen wants. Close the gate and hold back." Gabriel shook his head, "I can't do that."

"Why no-" There was suddenly a cry from the mountain beyond, marching front and center, no longer wearing the blue and white of heaven, but instead, darker, more sinister colors, were Raphael and Mizuki. "We must march forward, lest they begin an attack on us." Celeste felt her heart stop in her chest, they weren't fallen, not yet, but if her siblings did this there would be no going back. So Celeste pushed passed them, trying to run up the hill when she felt something clamp down on her ankle. "Oh no you don't, don't forget, you're the Queens!"

Kitra and Michael were locked in combat, and the light powers were seriously getting annoying. Heaven't Gate wasn't going to be an easy battle, obviously, but Michael making a fuss was more than she wanted. Still, Kitra had the advantage, she could defeat him if he was disarmed, and that was what mattered here. As long as she neutralized him, all would be good. "I'm not letting you get through the gate, traitor!" Michael snarled, and the Demon Queen scoffed. Did Michael really thing he had the power to stop it anymore? "It's not me who you should worry about. There's infighting in your family, you know. Raphael and Mizuki turned against the crown." Off in the distance was proof of that. Michael shook his head, angered. "I'm their big brother, let me go, I have to talk them out of this!"

"Don't disrespect your opponent, Michael!" The Demon Queen cackled, lunging at him, slashing at him with her scissor blades and her spear with a burst of electricity, stunning the eldest angel sibling momentarily. There was more desperation in his eyes now, but Kitra was having too much fun in this fight to just let him leave in the middle of it. "Never turn your eyes away from the one you're fighting!" It was one of Furfur's first lessons. Never get distracted, always focus on the enemy in front of you. Kitra was doing her proud, she hoped, she was making her big sister happy by doing this, wasn't she? So the two fought again, and struggling, until finally Kitra wrapped her tentacle around him when he was distracted by a bird flitting between them, choking him into sleep.

It was very lucky he wasn't armed with any sort of weapon, or Kitra might have actually had a chance to lose. With that done, she tightened his chains and called Minerva to pick him up. "The Princess, she's going to Gabriel." Minerva warned as she held the unconscious Michael in a surprisingly gentle grip. "What are you going to do?" Kitra grinned, stabbing her spear into the tiny opening in the Gate, using electricity to blast at it until finally she had a wedge. With that, the Demon Queen could force it open, breaking through the locks that were keeping it shut. Finally, the way into Heaven was open. "I'll stop her, obviously."

But to Kitra's surprise, it wasn't going to be that easy. Because while Raphael and Mizuki were approaching, directly fighting against some of Gabriel's squadron, and while the Dragon Knights closed in on the Gate's Guardian, there was more happening at once. Dragon Knights and Angels were falling asleep all around, and Kitra had a feeling Cambion was at work here. So her worst suspicions proved correct - Lilim and Cambion joined up with the angel's rebellion. Then Kitra felt something slide next to her, a tail, with the tip like the sharpest blade, right to her throat. Lilim's voice lacked her usual happiness and charm, only a tired sort of dread. "Call off the troops, sis, this fight doesn't involve you."

The Demon Queen wriggled out of Lilim's trap, finding her sister unleashing more of her bestial form than she usually did, she now had four wings, and her tail was longer and sharper, a deadly weapon of war. "We're helping Raphael rebel, okay? If we do that, he said he'd kill our parents for us. He'd set them free from being monsters! So don't get in our way!" So that explained it, didn't it? But Kitra was incredibly reluctant to turn her spear against her only living sister, she didn't want to have to hurt her if she could help it. "I need Heaven's Gate for the Demon Army, it was our best chance." But she didn't expect Raphael's faction to get their way here, and she didn't expect her siblings to have joined up with them. Things were going to be even more complex than originally planned, it seemed.

"Mizuki!" Celeste screamed, "Raphael!" Celeste clawed at the ground desperately. Gabriel was slashing through opponents, keeping Heaven's ground clear of any demon filth. Her leg, there was something clamped on it, something like a jaw. She could feel blood trickling out, her leg feeling as though it was being torn off the rest of her body. The joint popped, dislocating and Celeste screamed in pain. Her nails were bloodied from hanging onto the gate, feeling the golden light radiating against her. "Celeste!" Mizuki had spotted her, clinging for dear life. Her sister broke formation, shooting down anyone that got in her way whether it be friend or foe. "M-Mizu," Celeste whimpered, feeling another clamp onto her remaining wing. Another scream, Celeste could feel the bone twisting in a way it wasn't supposed to. "I'm sorry," she whispered, letting go. The angel flew back, crumpling in a heap at the foot of the dragon knight who had the odd chains. They formed a formation around her, protecting the Demon Queen's property, waiting for their mistress to come and collect what was her's. Celeste couldn't move, pain rippled through her body, her wing twisted at an odd angle. "I'm going to lose it," she whispered, "they're going to take it aren't they?" Tears welled up in her eyes, Celeste curled up in a ball as much as she could, wondering if them taking it would mean that she would turn human.

A wingless angel? Celeste had never heard of such a thing."Celeste"! Her head jerked up, her siblings were running towards her, Mizuki and Raphael, they were fighting to reach her while Gabriel held himself in front of the gate. There was a rumble in the distance and Celeste had a bad feeling. That rumble, it was awfully familiar in the way she could recall her father's rumble when he was angry. Her eyes widened in wonder as she watched the sky change color from a bright beautiful blue to a dark, threatening gray. No, this was not her father, this was something far, far worse. "No," Celeste shielded herself, the familiar wrath making her cower. There was only one thing that could make all of the sky shake like this and that was the Zodiac Gathering. Celeste had heard of something like this, when all Zodiac's were gathered in one place, which meant that all of the angels and demons awarded the title of Zodiac were here, in this very valley.

"Michael!" It seems that Raphael had spotted his older brother being flown up on a dragon in chains now so tight he couldn't move. They had been wrapped around his wings as well, leaving him completely unarmed. "Let me go..." Celeste cried out, trying to sit up. "I have to go... home. Let me... go." No doubt that was the real reason she had been brought here, to be so tantalizingly close to Eden and not being allowed to step foot in it. "Home is... so close." Celeste tried to drag herself forward, her voice a whisper. "Don't try anything," a dragon knight warned and Celeste whimpered. "I want to... go home." She was weakening again, too far from the sun to absorb its energy. No doubt they had done that on purpose to keep her from getting another burst of energy.

"Mom... Dad... I'm scared." Celeste trembled, "I don't want to lose my other wing." She was sobbing now, tears running down her face, pattering against the ground. "I don't want to lose my family." A staff hit the ground in front of her and Celeste coward away from it. "We're coming!" Her siblings called, Mizuki shooting balls of fire at anyone in too close proximity. Raphael was using his ability too, but he was aiming for Michael who was passed out cold on top of Minerva's dragon.

|| Swan Song || Set it Off ||

The Demon Queen was furious. Her Celty was hurting, she let out a scream and that was unacceptable, she wasn't allowed to be injured or hurt anymore! Kitra owed her that much at least, for rescuing her when she was stuck in her monster form. This battle reminded Kitra of the old days, and it reminded her of the worst part of that last battle at the Heaven's Gate. That was when she had to personally put down her siblings, first was Buer, who was unprepared for battle, then was Zepar, who was killed trying to free him, and lastly was Furfur, protecting Kitra from a fatal injury. "Lilim. Step away." Kitra warned, not wanting to go through the same thing again, not wanting to lose yet another precious sibling. But Lilim shook her head. "No. I won't! I won't let you keep doing this!" The succubus was making her stand, even if she was weak, she wasn't going to back down. So Kitra lunged at her and Lilim never once backed away and then she was hit, knocked to the side. "Time to take a nap." A non-fatal electric shock was enough to knock her out. One problem solved.

With that done, Kitra grabbed her sister and then spun her spear as a helicopter to fly her to where Celty was being held. There was a huge battle raging around her, Dragon Knights forming a protective circle while angels slashed and attacked, trying to save their littlest princess from demon clutches. That was when everything rumbled and the Demon Queen couldn't help but grin to herself. This was her chance, the other Scorpio contender was here, this was her chance to finally kill the last step stopping her from becoming the next Scorpio. But before she could locate her foe, flames erupted around Celty's position, from a fire arrow. One of the royal angel siblings, most likely.. Kitra flew in then, knowing this was her chance, and she grabbed Celty by the arm. "This is your chance." She whispered in the chaos, so no one else could hear. "Take Lilim to Heaven with you and run. Minerva's not looking, so I can do what I want." She cut through the chains and let out a yell, winking. "Celty! Get back here, you're mine!" A shout to fool the Dragon Knights, and she handed Lilim over to the Angel Princess.

The next move was to get to Minerva. They couldn't win, not at this rate. So she flew up onto Winona, who was dutifully waiting, hovering beside Minerva's dragon, who was concentrating hard on commanding. "Minerva, call off the troops. The whole Angel Army's here, let's quit while we're ahead. I already have another plan." Minerva nodded, and then the entirety of the Demon Army started to make preparations to pull back. "I trust you. Do your best, Kit, we're with you every step of the way!" With that done, Kitra let out another shout. "Scorpio's Contender! Show yourself! It's time to decide which of us will get the title!"

A large angel stepped out from the fray, one of the angel generals serving directly under King Zadkiel, clad in heavy armor. "My name is Hodkiel." He said in a rumbling voice, wings fluttering, ready for battle. "I'm the Demon Queen Kitra. Get a good look at your killer, okay?" Kitra sported an arrogant grin, and activated her scorpion insignia. Hodkiel did the same, both halves of the symbol coming together, floating over the space of their duel. It was time. Kitra lunged and struck, Hodkiel swung his hammer, the two clashed, sparks flying furiously. This was more than just a duel for the title of Scorpio, this was also eliminating one of the stronger angels serving in the Angel Army. "I'll kill you here and end the war, tyrant Queen!" The angel roared, but Kitra smiled calmly. She came this far, she wasn't going to lose here. "Think again." Kitra lunged, her spear going through the tiny holy in the armor's shoulder blades, and she let loose a fatal blast of electricity, frying him from the inside out. With Hodkiel down, the sign of Scorpio descended down to her and disappeared, new energy flowed through her body. She finally achieved it. And now, covered in wounds and broken bones, the Demon Queen collapsed.

She felt hands grabbing at her, an angel was speaking. "I'm killing her now. Any complaints?" Most of the Demon Army had retreated at this point, so there was no one who could take the Demon Queen back to Hell. But a hand stopped the angel holding an arrow to her throat. "Stop. Remember the deal?" Cambion. "We'll take her with us. Chain her up. We'll take Celeste back as well." There was a moment of silence but then Mizuki nodded, grimacing. "Fine, demon. I won't break our deal. But you and Lilim are gonna have to stick around and help us kill your parents. You sure you're up for it?" Cambion didn't miss a beat. "I want nothing more then to end my parent's lives. We'll cooperate, so don't worry about that." Hands grabbed Kitra, Cambion was carrying her now, but what mattered most here was that she finally, finally, was a Zodiac, just like Ronove, Zepar, and Furfur before her. She was finally their equal.

"Home..." Celeste whimpered, writhing painfully on the ground. Her leg was pulled out of the joint and her wing was broken and twisted. If she tried to move, agonizing lightning shot down through her body. Somehow though, the demon Queen came over. She told Celeste to go, setting her free. Had Kitra finally realized that she was useless? No, she was just using Celeste to get Lilim to safety. No doubt once Celeste thought she was finally free, Kitra would find her and drag her back. "Can't... move." Celeste whimpered but Kitra wasn't listening, she left Lilim beside her and then took off in search of someone to fight. "Celty!" Mizuki was there, she grabbed Celeste, pulling her into a hug. The young angel cried out in pain and Mizuki loosened her grip. "Oh Celeste," she saw the broken wing, the blood, the dirt, and had to stop herself from crying. "Home?" Celeste questioned and Mizuki nodded. "Yes, we're going home."

In that moment, Celeste passed out. Mizuki gathered her sister in her arms and an angel soldier picked up Lilim. "Don't worry, you're going home, we'll fix you." The rest of the battle, as they say, was history. Heaven's gate closed and for the first time in history, three demons were on angel territory. Mizuki carried Celeste, Raphael Lilim, and Cambion Kitra. "You'll be returning her home soon I presume?" Gabriel asked quietly as they passed. "Yes," Mizuki confirmed. "Celeste has no place in this battle." Witht that they took off, having to leave their brother, Michael behind. He could handle himself though, no doubt with the news that his sister was free, he would break out and return home with Ami and Fin in tow. "Michi," Celeste whimpered in her sleep.

The angel awoke next laying on her stomach, tied down. She screamed and struggled against the bonds, believing everything to be a far too sweet dream. "No, no! I was so close"! Celeste was clearly panicked. Someone ran in, there were tubes sticking out of her back, where her missing wing was. "Princess! Please don't move around like that, you'll injure yourself!" Celeste didn't listen though, she didn't want to be tied down like this and used an experiment for the vampires again. "Let me go!" She screamed, her voice feeling hoarse already. Someone else came in, someone tall in strong, blonde hair half braided, half down, her dress swishing like a set of their own wings around her. "Celeste," the girl could feel it, the eyes on her, a blue or purple that changed depending on her mood. A woman that could be as violent as a storm or as loving as a cloud.

"Mommy," Celeste felt tears prick her eyes. Her mother undid the binds, taking the girl into her arms. "It's okay, you're with me now." She stroked her hair, soothing her daughter. "We're trying to regrow your wing, isn't that what you want? To fly again?" Celeste nodded. "Are we home? Can I see Dad?" Callisto shook her head. "No, we're at the rebel base in the north." Celeste could see a window then, she had assumed white curtains had been drawn but the opposite was true, there was a blizzard outside. They were in the mountains, the farthest point of heaven from the capitol. "Look at that, I can already see your feathers getting their shine back." Her mother was warm like the sun, she had a protective grip on her daughter, being careful not to disrupt the tubes and medicine. "You're anemic, your light levels had plummeted so much the doctors were afraid you wouldn't come back."

"How long have I been asleep for?" Celeste inquired. "Two days, you were in such a fit they had to tie you down." Two others ran in, smothering their little sister with hugs. "Celeste!" Mizuki had tears in her eyes, Raphael was holding something. "I found her on the battle field." He handed Aries to her, the stuffed rabbit that had been her friend all throughout her lonely childhood. "What happened to the others?" Celeste asked, hugging the rabbit to her. "Gabriel returned to Father's side, Michael is still in custody of the demons, Lilm and Cambion have joined our side and the demon queen is our captive." Celeste's eyes widened quite a bit at that. "Kitra is here?" Their expressions darkened. "Yes, but don't concern yourself with her." Celeste looked at her lap, twisting the fabric of the hospital gown in her hands. "She saved me a few times," Celeste admitted. "But she hurt you even more and for that, she'll never be forgiven."

|| Swan Song || Set it Off ||

There was no real use for words anymore, not really. Whatever happened, she wasn't going to tell anyone anything. She was in a room, nicer than those in her own castle, but not quite as fancy as the holding cells Celty described of in Eden. This had to be somewhere else. There was a one way glass wall, people could look in but she wasn't given the privilege of seeing outside her new room. Her spear was taken to who-knows-where, and to her surprise, she was in her half monster form, all six of her extra limbs were out and chained up, no doubt to prevent an escape. The chains were infused with rubber so her electricity was useless, and while she wasn't suspended like Celty was, she could only really walk around half of the room.

Over the next two days, there wasn't much that happened. Mizuki went in and burned her several times, half the time she was asking questions on Michael's whereabouts, and the other half was spent simply torturing her out of payback for what was done to Celty. The Demon Queen didn't bother speaking or crying out, a part of her knew that she deserved this, so there was no point in protesting her fate. Still, it was shameful. She was Scorpio now, one of the twelve chosen to protect the One God, but she was trussed up like a toy. However, she wasn't going to let humiliation beat her. No, she was the Demon Queen, she was strong. Kitra faced worst in the past, something like this was nothing. Cambion and Lilim came to visit, giving her pills to keel her darkness levels up - no doubt her two siblings were also on the pills as well, to keep them from weakening the way Celty did. Ktira wouldn't speak to them either, they were traitors, but they were safe. What else was there to talk about?

"Celty woke up today." Lilim said, fidgeting, nursing a burn. She was expressly banned from healing her big sister, but still, she wanted to help alleviate the pain if she could, so cold damp towels were placed on all of the burns. She knew big sis deserved this, but it was still hard to see her like this. Cam didn't talk to Kit, and Kit didn't talk to anyone at all. "Asleep for two days. She was really close to dying." No reaction from big sis, not even with those news. The succubus frowned, she missed when big sis would talk to her. She glanced over at Cambion as if asking for help but he just turned his head away with a heavy sigh. "The angels treat me okay, I guess. Some don't trust us and one slapped me at lunch today, it was a bit silly." She shrugged then, demon wings wiggling, and yet there was still nothing.

It seemed Kit was going to ignore her this time too. Finally an angel walked in, opening the door. "Time's up, leave her alone for now." The name-Lilim-can't-remember-angel said, not unkindly, and Cambion left rather quickly. Lilim stood up as well, giving her sister one last withering glance, but walked out as well. "I'm going to see Celty." Lilim muttered, wings fluttering slightly with each step as she swallowed her own darkness pill. "Ew, it tastes awful today too." She wrinkled her nose sadly, and Cambion smirked. "It won't magically taste different if you hope for it, you know?" Lilim nodded, of course she knew it, she wasn't a dummy!

The succubus made her way to where Celty was, she was with two of her siblings, she recognized Raphael, her kidnapper, but Mizuki was still a bit of a blur. The girl grew a bit more timid, she still wasn't used to the angels or anything. "Um, I'll come back.. later?" The succubus squeaked, hands flapping anxiously. Celty was up, though, and surrounded with loved ones. A happy family reunion. The Demons would never have that, but at least Celty still had that one happiness. "Um, I'm glad you're awake." Lilim smiled, then spun on her heel to aimlessly wander about. "I'll leave you to it, then! Probably tired of seeing demons, right?" That's right, how insensitive of her! Of course Celty would only want to see angels from now on, it was silly to hope for otherwise.

The door opened, a shy pink haired angel coming inside. "Lilim!" Celeste said brightly, wriggling in her mom's lap. Mizuki and Raphael both turned as the door opened, watching Lilim leave with her tail between her legs. "Lilim was my friend, she would heal me and take away the pain." Mizuki smiled a little. "She told us she wanted to rescue you," Mizu ruffled her hair. "It seems like whoever you meet either wants to hurt you or be friends with you." Celeste looked at her lap, it was far too true wasn't it? "I have to return soon, they'll be expecting me at the council meeting." Her Mother said, hugging Celeste tighter. The little angel flinched at the touch and Raphael noticed, giving her a look of concern but otherwise not making a fuss. "We should probably let Celeste rest," Mizuki finally said. "She still has to heal up." Her Mother gave her one last hug, "I'll return soon, I promise." She placed Celeste back down, laying the angel on her side since Celeste had always hated laying on her stomach.

"Don't go," Celeste whimpered, hanging onto her mom's fingers. "I'll be back and I'll bring your stubborn Father too." She promised, kissing Celeste's forehead. "What about Gabe?" Her mother smiled just a little. "Yes, I'll bring Gabriel too," with that the woman strode out, going back to her castle for the council meeting. Another zodiac was just dubbed and they had lost an important general, a funeral to honor the fallen was in order. Those poor angels who had now been moved to Obsidian. It wasn't that bad, as far as lives went, but to have to restart in a new place with your old memories? It was like angel hell. "It's great to have you back," Raphael had to go as well, he had a meeting with Cambion. He ruffled Celeste's hair, tucking Aries in extra comfortably beside her before going out the door. "I should probably go too," Mizuki sighed. "We lost a lot of good soldiers."

"If it isn't too much trouble, can you ask Lilim to come? I'd like to see her again." Mizuki smiled, "You're too nice you know that?" Celeste shook her head, "She's my friend!" Mizuki sighed. "Fine, fine. I can probably get you some painting stuff too, that way it's not too boring in here." Mizuki left then, leaving Celeste alone with no one but the doctors who were working on healing her. The leg that had been dislocated had been put back in the socket and moving around was not as agonizing. Celeste couldn't lay on her back or fully sit up, which was a nuisance. It seemed that the art supplies arrived before Lilim, which was fine since Celeste still owed the demon a painting. She traced it out in gray this time, deciding to try a different technique she had seen on some of the tapestries in Hell. Outlining things in mute colors and then going over them in bright, overstated ones. Perhaps it would remind Lilim of home? Celeste hoped so. It was probably lonely for her here, where things were so bright all the time.

Celeste had missed the sun, the way it shone on her, even through the blizzard covered windows. She was illuminated and animated like, well, an angel. "I can't wait to sleep in my own bed and to play in the gardens." She had spent enough time on the outside, Celeste was prepared to be barred within her home once more, not allowed to leave the grounds in case something like this happened again. That was fine, as long as she got to go back, as long as her wing was returned and she could fly freely. "Lavenders green dilly, dilly, lavenders blue." The angel sang sweetly as she illustrated what she had been working on before, a wide open window with an overflowing garden. "If you love my dilly, dilly I will love you." Celeste decided in that moment that she wanted to see Kitra. She wasn't sure why, but the angel was certain it was a matter of importance.

❝One incapable of determining their own fate is a filthy insect.❞

ɗιαƖσgυє cσƖσя:#8f8c89 ♙ тнσυgнт cσƖσя #7D65B3

|| Swan Song || Set it Off ||

The little succubus decided that she was, officially, the youngest person throughout the whole camp. Most angels that wanted to fight had to be of a certain age - and she had a feeling that age was over thirteen. The demon girl glanced at her reflection in the mirror. Even if she was small and slender with an almost childish figure, her chest was growing in, larger than those of any of her sisters. While she liked it for some of it's uses, she also didn't quite like how it got in the way during the fight. Maybe there was a reason her three big sisters were small in that area. They were all warriors, they had no need for big mounds like these, did they? It also hurt a little if she moved too fast, and LIlim didn't really like that - what was she even doing here, anyways, staring at herself in the window? Everyone else was either recovering or a prisoner or preparing for the next step for the rebel's plan to go against Zadkiel and overturn his decision to try and bring back the former Demon King and Queen.

Still, the girl wasn't really good at other stuff. She was seductive and all, but that was her only real skill, wasn't it? And even seduction, it's not like Kit or Cam let her actually... do the deed, right? She was still... inexperienced in terms of the actual act itself. But what else was she even good for? She couldn't fight, she wasn't good at politics, she was kind of useless all over at everything. And Lilim knew what big sis would say here, Kit would tell her that she's got a big heart and all, but Lilim knew it was just a pity answer. A big heart couldn't protect people the way Kit and Furfur could, couldn't stop wars like a strong mind could. She wasn't really good for anything actually worthwhile like that at all!

Then someone entered the bathroom, an angel, a girl. Lilim smiled, she faintly recognized this girl from the battlefield, she was in Mizuki's archer squad! "Hello, I'm Lilim!" Her wings twitched and her heart-shaped tail swirled around her leg in nervous tension. The succubus still wasn't used to being around angels at all. "I know who you are." The angel murmured, and grabbed her wing. "You even have wings. Disgusting looking wings." The angel sighed, definitely looking angry and the succubus was too surprised to really do anything. "Filthy demon, get out. You shouldn't even be here. Crawl back to Hell, where you belong already." And so Lilim was dragged by the wing out of the bathroom, it hurt a lot but she was used to pain, it was okay. She smiled brightly, since it was better to smile then cry when someone was trying to hurt you, after all. "If only you angels didn't exist, then maybe-"

"Stop that." A hand stopped the next slap. Raphael was there, holding back the angel that was assaulting her. "Lilim proved her loyalty to us, it's not in your place to judge her." The angel scurried off and went to Lilim, picking her up easily in his arms. "Are you alright? That must have been frightening." Lilim wiggled a little, then shook her head. "No, it's okay. I expected it. Angels don't like demons, after all!" A weird emotion went on Raphael's face that Lilim couldn't exactly piece together. "I won't apologize for abducting you and your brother, but I'm sorry it had to-" No, no, Lilim didn't want an apology or anything, an apology wasn't going to bring her family back! So she smiled instead. "Don't apologize! I don't blame you! You did what had to be done to protect your loved ones, that's all." Raphael's featured softened a little and the succubus decided to relax in his arms, not questioning why he was carrying her in the first place.

"There, done!" Celeste looked at the painting, satisfied. She wanted to give it to Lilim herself, but until her siblings fetched her, Celeste placed it on the table beside the bed to dry. "Princess," the door opened. The Doctor was there with a tray and a little cup full of pills. Celeste sat up as much as she could without disturbing the tubes, watching as the Doctor came forward. The little angel flinched when he came too close, his red wings nearly brushing her face. "These are for you," he handed Celeste a bigger cup with juice in it. "Thanks," the angel murmured, looking at her reflection. "Is there anyway I can shower today?" Celeste inquired, wanting to get out of bed for a little bit. The Doctor shook his head, "I can have the nurse give you a sponge bath." It made sense, but even so Celeste wasn't happy about it. "Alright," she said quietly, lifting the silver cover up to reveal food. It smelled good and her mouth watered.

"Eat slowly," were the Doctor's final words of advice before leaving after he checked on the pump. "It's just like the ones Mina made." Mina was Celeste's caretaker when her mother was busy with political things. While Celeste could have servants, she decided not to take any since there wasn't anything to be learned by her actions. She wasn't brave like Michael or valiant like Gabriel or full of fire like Mizuki. "I'm as mild and as meek as a mouse," Celeste sang softly as she began to eat. "When I hear a command I obey, but I know of a spot in my house, where no one can stand in my way." She blew a bit on the hot stew before tipping the spoon into her mouth. "It's good, it tastes just like home." She giggle, dipping her spoon in again. Celeste ripped off a piece of bread, biting into that as well. It was warm and soft, it smelled fresh from the oven.

She was as happy a a duck in a pond, smiling and dipping her bread in soup. Celeste was about halfway through when she suddenly wasn't feeling so well, her hands began to shake and she started to feel nauseous. Celeste looked around, grabbing a pail and well, her lunch came up the wrong direction. The little angel drank down a bunch of water in an attempt to keep the rest of it down. Perhaps she wasn't so used to such rich food? After all, most of what she had eaten in Hell was pretty bland. Celeste stuck with the bread, eating it slowly as she lay on her side. She wished that she had a book or that she could walk around, but Celeste was stuck in this room until her wing regrew and who knows how long that would take. "I want to walk," the angel pouted, curling up into a ball.

The door opened, the nurse who was supposed to give her a sponge bath arrived. "Ready Princess?" Celeste nodded. "Yes please," the nurse undid the ties in the back, allowing the hospital gown to fall to the floor. Celeste brushed her hair aside, allowing the nurse to wash the blood away. It felt nice to be clean, to have all of the grime taken away and replaced with smooth, silky skin once more. "Can you wash my hair too?" Celeste's hair felt greasy. "Of course," her hair was put in a bucket, then washed around. "It's so nice to be clean!" Celeste giggled, her eyes glinting in delight. "Thank you," the nurse was drying her off now, then she put a fresh gown on the angel, tying it in the back.

The succubus knew she made the right choice when she ran away. She was standing up for what she believed in, she was trying to prevent a horrible disaster from happening, but despite this, it couldn't take away the deep feeling of unsettlement in the pit of her stomach. It was a sense that things still weren't right, not yet at least. The angels - big sis Kit, things were still not right between them! "Can I bathe big sis tonight?" Lilim asked Raphael nervously, not knowing where he was taking her, but not really concerned, either. "I don't think she wants Mizuki to do it." Each night it was Mizuki who came in to give the captive Demon Queen a sponge bath, but Lilim had a feeling that the angel despised that duty. Raphael didn't miss a beat as he spoke. "I have an idea. Lilim, why don't I give a good word to the doctors about you? They could teach you all about our medicine!"

Lilim wasn't an idiot, she knew that he was avoiding answers her question, but the truth was that... something like this really was interesting. If she could learn more medicine, mixed with her powers, Lilim could really be the best healer in all of Heaven and Hell, couldn't she? "Um... that would be good! I'd really like that!" Her eyes lit up excitedly, Lilim would jump at a chance to better herself and be more useful! She was never really ever going to impress her siblings with martial prowess or political maneuvering, but something like healing was something she was always good at! And maybe she could help spread the knowledge through Hell, too, to improve the nonexistent healthcare situation there! "That would be really fun!"

Raphael smiled at her and Lilim remembered that this was an angel talking. She squirmed anxiously again, still feeling out of place, and so Lilim defaulted to her usual mode of conduct. The spoiled brat mode. "Why do darkness pills taste so bad? They're awful! It's like my tongue is melting!" Okay, that last complaint barely made sense at all. Raphael chuckled and was definitely pampering her instead of getting angry and scolding her the way Cambion usually would. "I'll tell our scientists to try and make one that's sweeter tasting for you." Raphael said and Lilim pouted, she wanted to be scolded, not to be catered to. This was way too weird!

Eventually they arrived at the kitchen and Raphael put her down and helped pick out foods that someone he knew she seemed to like. Lilim wanted to be difficult, though, so she refused the fish filet and instead pointed to some angel dish that she didn't really recognize, it looked like rice mxied with something weird - seaweed wrap? - with a bunch of things in the middle. "I want those!" She said, pointing, and Raphael grinned. "Angel sushi, coming up!" The succubus then took her plate of food, wings flitting, still slightly put off that he was being all patient with her. "You should go eat with Celty, I'm sure she'd like a friend to eat with."

That surprised Lilim. Why were they letting her maintain her friendship with their baby sister? Her eyes widened in shock. "But I'm the little sister of the one that hurt her!" She exclaimed, wiggling, and Raphael grinned back at her, with a peculiar twinkle in his eye. "Celeste has said many nice things about you. It'd be good for her to have a friend her age, and personally, it'd also help with angel-demon relations in the future so wars don't continue to break out." Ah, that did make sense then! So Lilim nodded and then thanked Raphael, walking over to Celeste's room, plopping herself in beside her. "Celeste! Raphael said I could eat with you, so I am..." She bit into a sushi and her face wrinkled up. "Ah, the flavor's so strong! Demon food is much milder!" She really wasn't used to the explosion of flavor at all! Feeling a little awkward, Lilim turned her head away from the angel princess. "So, um, even though I'm a demon, it's okay, right? You don't have like, post-demon-stress-disorder or something?" Then she noticed that Celeste looked much shinier than ever before. "Whoa, you're sparkly, it hurts my eyes a little!" She giggled, making a half joke to lighten the mood.

"Lilim!" Celeste cheered up at having a friend. "I'm so glad you came to visit." The angel attempted to sit up but the tubes tugged at her and so she remained on her side. "I'm sorry I can't do much, but at least we can talk." Celeste seemed much brighter and happier here, in freedom, well as free as she could be in her current situation. Celeste watched as Lilim took a bite of sushi, deciding she didn't like it. The angel couldn't help it, she giggled a little bit. "Our food has a bit more flavor, here try this." She nudged the stew in Lilim's direction along with the bread. Hopefully Lilim wouldn't be able to tell that Celeste couldn't keep it down since it was a bit of an embarrassment. "Raphie is nice, isn't he?" Celeste loved all of her siblings, even Gabriel who could be stoic and quiet when he wanted to, but was secretly protective. Most of the other Angeal siblings were protective over the littlest one, just like how the demons were protective of Lilim. It was a quality that the two shared, as the youngests in their respective families.

"No, it's fine. I want us to stay friends," Celeste smiled. She picked up the painting she had made, "Here, I said I would make you one so I did. I tried to style it after the tapestries I saw in your home in case you got home sick." Celeste knew what that was like. Even with some dark hues, the paints were still light and depicted what Celeste was trying to get across, an open window with an overflowing garden. "I hope that there can one day be peace between our two people so that the painting can become a reality." Celeste wiggled a little, blushing. Was it strange to admit that she still wanted peace between them after everything that had happened? Sometimes, the first step had to be taken by those you least expected and in this case, it was the two youngest siblings in both royal families.

Lilim mentioned that Celeste seemed to be sparkling and Celeste giggled again. "It's the sun, it gives us our glow. Like demons need darkness, angels need light." Her feathers ruffled a bit in happiness. The clumps of missing feathers had begun to grow back, soft gray down that would grow longer and turn white. Sort of like how a baby bird molted to get bigger feathers to fit their needs, angels did the same. They could molt at random intervals as they grew. Some of the bigger angels could have wingspans of longer than seventeen feet. Not to mention that their bones were hollow so that they were aerodynamic. Celeste couldn't help but wonder if Lilim was the same. The demon had wings after all, but Celeste didn't know what bats internal structures were like.

"How is Kitra doing?" Celeste's smile faded just a bit. "I heard she was taken captive." Who was running things back in the Onyx Citadel? Did Cambion returned to Hell in order to ensure the success of a peace treaty? Or perhaps he was at the meeting to kill the past Queen and King of Hell? "Are they treating her alright?" Why did Celeste care? She wasn't supposed to, Kitra had given her scars, she had tortured Celeste and cut off her wing, so then, why did Celeste care what happened to that demon? Her heart fluttered oddly, Celeste looked down at her hands, which were wrapped around Aries. "I hope Mizuki and Raphael aren't hurting her."

It was nice, seeing Celty much healthier and shinier than before. Other than the wing, this was the way Celty was meant to be, not dull and sad and unshiny like when she was in Hell. The smallest angel princess was best like this, full of light and hope and everything that was stolen from her! Still, if it wasn't for her being abducted, Lilim would never have made friends with her. It was a weird thing to think about. At least Celeste looked happy to see her, that had to count for something. "I'm glad too!" Lilim said in agreement, happy to see Celty was well. "It's okay, you're recovering! Don't blame yourself, silly!" After her sushi reaction, Celeste suggested some other angel food, bread and stew, and Lilim soaked the bread in the stew then ate the damp crust. "Weird, but not so strong!" Lilim grinned cheekily, she liked it a bit better.

Raphie was nice? He probably was. Lilim's first memory of him was when he stole her and Buer away from her home. That wasn't a very nice memory, but he definitely was being nicer now. She shrugged noncommittally, unsure what to think or say. Then Celeste drew her attention to a painting, a window that seemed to frame a garden lush with flowers and nature, a pleasant mixture of darker faded colors and rich bright ones. Even Lilim could understand what Celeste was going for. "It's beautiful!" The succubus gasped and took it into her arms, almost hugging it before thinking twice and hugging Celeste instead. "You didn't have to! Thank you!" Her wings twitched awkwardly and the demon blushed. "Sorry, I didn't get you anything special like that..." She wasn't really good at anything like that, after all.

"Cam and I will do our best to maintain peace! We'll make Kit understand." Unlike Kitra, neither Cambion nor Lilim held a grudge against the angels for the loss of their family. Kitra, however, was different. The deaths were probably worse for Kit, because she actually had to kill them in the battle. Neither Lilim nor Cambion could ever really understand what that was like, how painful it must have been. Maybe that was why her big sister ended up like this. "You look best shiny and happy like this! Your hair looks almost like a rainbow!" Lilim decided to focus on happier topics. "Um, the darkness pills taste awful though, it's so dumb!" She stuck her tongue out, but was secretly thankful she wasn't going to suffer from light overload while here.

Then things quickly got less pleasant when Celeste brought up the subject of her sister. Lilim turned serious and touched a hand to Celeste's thin shoulder, looking her right in the eye. "Um, you don't have to worry about her. She did bad things to you, so don't think about her, okay?" The succubus forced a grin, feeling dirty that she was talking bad about her last sister. "Big sis is tough, she can handle it!" Her heart caught in her throat and she choked it down. "N-not that there's anything to handle, no one's hurting her at all, nope!" Lilim was lying of course, she didn't want Celeste to have to think about someone that hurt her so badly, even if it was big sis Kit. "Your big siblings wouldn't hurt anyone!" Was it okay to lie like this? Wasn't this a part of what lead to this tragedy in the first place, sheltering a princess way too much?
