It must have looked at least a tiny bit entertaining for the attentive and angry Kitra face to suddenly relax and become observant yet passive like Orana's must have been in the span of half a second, just in time to obscure her real self from Ryker when he came in to check on Celeste. It was sheer luck that they were able to end the runic call then and there but the demon was honestly worried, she didn't know how much longer they would have to be in Heaven, she didn't know how much longer the Hellian Army was going to last in this state, with Minerva out of the game. "How are the dragons?" Kitra asked as he checked Celeste over. "Azphille and I had a dragon after we escaped Heaven, so I was just worried that her kind was being hurt." Did that smooth the screw up over? Ryker rubbed at his nose and frowned. "I'm not an expert on dragon physiology, but none of them are in critical condition. We managed to remove the collars, but the poor things are so scared they won't let us get close to really examine the wounds."

Just thinking about the amount of pain and suffering the dragons had to go through was enough to make the former demon queen's blood boil and rage and fester inside of her. "It'll be good to go back to our rooms, I imagine the med ward will be filled with the injured civilians and soldiers soon." The inpatients that came from the emergency room were on their way, which meant this would no longer be a safe place to discuss things, plans. "The less people know, the better." Kitra said ambiguously. It was true, though. It was a smaller risk the more people you didn't tell, it meant one less chance of accidentally letting slip to someone who would tell the Council.

Nani came by then with a wheelchair and a smile. "Upsie daisy." The woman helped Celty on, and Celeste looked even smaller and more fragile than she usually did. It was such an odd dichotomy, that such an amazing source of power was also such a frail little thing that needed to be coddled and protected. "Go on to your room now, dearie. And thank you Orana, for caring for her when her usual friend isn't here." Nani was fooled by the disguise, like most people were. In this came it was a little painful though, Kitra didn't like lying to the nice kindly woman.

When Kitra and Celeste were back up to their room, they saw something on the wheelchair, a tiny little piece of paper. Was it a secret note? Kitra tried to read it but the letters were scrambled to her eyes. "I can't read it, it's charmed so only the intended one can read." Which meant it was a message from Ryker, and even though Kitra didn't know it, it was a message explaining how the Council executed his sister and took her son hostage and how if Celeste found out where his nephew was hiding, he would let them see Zadkiel once before escaping from Eden with the last of his family.

It made her heart warm to hear that the dragons were doing alright, that they had been freed of their enslavement and would now get to return home to the wilds of Heaven and Hell. "That's a relief," Celeste smiled, breathing out ever so slightly as she adjusted the position she was lying in. It was hard to get comfortable when you're covered in bumps and bruises. Another form of relief came when it was announced that she would be able to return to her room, away from prying eyes that would begin to fill the med ward as soldier brought in the injured who would need to sneak treatment after the stunt the fallen had pulled. Tomorrow Gabriel would make an announcement to all of Heaven, what it was Celeste wasn't sure but it would probably include something along the lines of not interfering with the dragons, that they would rebuild, that this being the new year meant they had another chance to expand Eden and revitalize the sections that had been decimated in battle.

"So many people lost their homes tonight," they would be taking shelter in school houses and friends until their homes could be rebuilt, the structures reinforced to withstand another attack, just in case. It was impossible to predict what the future would look like, for now all they could do was cross their fingers and hope that this would pass. "Thank you Doctor, I know it's probably not fun having to see me here all the time." Doctor Ryker nodded, "take better care of yourself," Celeste blushed and nodded. Doctor Ryker had an almost kindly smile on his face, "I know you're going to do great things one day," he said before leaving, which only served to make the angel blush further. "Great things? I wonder what they could be."

Back upstairs the fireplace had been lit, warming the room up quite nicely. In the winters the tower could sometimes be frigid, Celeste was glad to see that Nani had prepared everything for them so that they didn't have to shiver while the room warmed. Celeste eased herself back into bed, groaning with the pain of small movements. A slip of parchment fell out between the cracks in the chair, drifting to the ground. "What's that?" It seemed that Kitra couldn't read it, a curious thing considering Kitra had mastered both the angel and demon tongue. Celeste took the slip from her, the words slowly moving to rearrange and reveal themselves. Celeste's stomach dropped, she felt nauseous just reading it. "It's from Ryker," the angel informed Kitra, looking up at her.

"He-he says the council threatened his family," her stomach clenched. "They executed his sister and are holding his nephew hostage. If we find out where they're keeping him, he'll take us to Papa." A mix of emotions passed through her and for a moment her eyes glinted a dangerous yellow. Celeste shook her head and leaned back, closing her eyes. "We can't do anything about it tonight," she felt weak once more, the fighting took a lot out of her. "We can try to do something in the morning."

❝Truth and lies and everything is reborn.❞

Celeste was too hurt to do anything now and Kitra was loathing the idea of sneaking around and going out without her. Maybe it'd be best to let Celeste rest and to go investigate on her own... but honestly, the demon liked the idea of the two of them tackling Heaven's problems as a team. It just felt better that way, it felt more natural. The two of them came together, they would solve the case together! But, well, for now Kitra could do something at least. "Yeah, just rest up, we'll think of what to do in the morning." For now Kitra could just write off areas that wouldn't be possible to hide a child in. Not that she knew how old Ryker's nephew was or anything. Could be a baby, could be a kid. "How old is the nephew?" Kitra asked quizzically. "I won't go anywhere, I'll just try and think... where is it possible to hide a kid?"

For now though it was time for sleep, for rest. "Let's sleep, it's late, and we both need it." The demo felt exhausted mentally from having to be someone else all the time, for having to be on guard at all times, not to mention casting the communication rune which took quite the punch out of her. So Kitra and Celeste went under the sheets and while they didn't achieve Heaven or anything - Celeste was probably too hurt for that - they did to a little snuggling, trying to find a comfortable position to end up in to fall asleep together in one another's arms. Still, it just didn't feel right, not in thi body, with these wings making it hard to find a good position, with her boobs filling up more space, with her hips and butt being huge things.

God, was Kitra excited to just get home and be herself again, in her rightful body. "I have a feeling you miss my tentacles more than I do, hmm?" Kitra sneered as sleep overtook her.

Eventually, it was morning again and they had things to do, didn't they? They needed to find Ryker's nephew, they needed to reunite them and then let Ryker escape from here, let him go to safety where the Council couldn't play him like a puppet anymore. So Kitra gave Celeste a morning wake-up kiss on the forehead. "Operation Save Ryker." The demon said in a low, conspiratorial voice after finishing their morning rituals. Ryker came in then for the morning check and it was obvious he hasn't had much sleep. "Sorry, I just need to see how you've been healing princess." He said so Kitra reluctantly allowed it only because he was a good doctor. If there was anything strange about Orana and Celeste sharing a bed he didn't say.

"I'll be in the medical ward all day, tending to the injured from yesterday's battle." Ryker announced, trying to make sure both girls heard it loud and clear. "So if you have anything to tell me, like for example your pain suddenly gets worse, you can find me there." He stared them both in the eye, making it very clear what his real intentions were. "So keep me updated, okay?" Gabriel had a big speech thing that was about to happen or whatnot, after that it'd be time for investigations, wouldn't it?

❝When you are in a garden which flowers do you pick? The most beautiful ones.❞

"I'm not sure, I never really gave a thought to his family," Ryker was young, that much they could tell based on the way his feathers grew. "I didn't really think he had a wife or children, he just doesn't strike me as the type to actively seek out a partner." He seemed the intelligent type, the kind that would wait until they've finished all of their schooling before ever going out on a date. He was also the top researcher and Doctor for the Royal Hospital, no doubt Ryker found that he had no time for things like courting a lady, or perhaps a man. Love came in all sorts of shapes and sizes and while it was certainly rare, it was impossible. Not that Celeste was suggesting anything, Ryker could love whichever gender he wanted and the royal family would have no qualms, especially since one of their children had turned out to like the same gender.

"Yeah, there's plenty of time to think of things in the morning," Celeste tried to curl up in Kitra's side, but Kitra seemed to be having difficulty finding a comfortable position with her wings. "It's easier to sleep on your side," Celeste suggested, her own wings sprawled in the opposite direction. When Kitra made a devious taunt, Celeste's cheeks flushed bright pink. "Goodnight," she said quickly and planted a kiss on Kitra's collarbone before dozing off, sleep coming easy considering the amount of energy she had used in the battle earlier that day. By the time morning came, Celeste felt well rested and ready to start the day, at least until she remembered the aches and pains as her body creaked from overexertion. Ryker had warned her yesterday to stay off of her feet today, it seemed that Celeste might just have to do that.

"Let's start looking," Celeste agreed with a nod. There came a knock on the door, it was Doctor Ryker himself, coming to check up on Celeste. "I recommend a bath to prevent infection," Celeste nodded. "A bath sounds like a good idea," especially since she was still covered in grime and dust. Perhaps she would have Nani change the sheets later. "We'll keep you updated, the speech is going to start soon, I have to go down there." Ryker nodded and left the two girls alone. "Kitra, do you think you could um, help me bathe and get dressed?" Celeste blushed. Getting to the bathroom was going to be difficult since it hurt so much to move. She couldn't just laze around in bed though, not when there were important things that were happening outside of the four bedroom walls. In the garden, stands were being set up to allow the people to come onto the palace grounds and direct them away from the flowers so that the plants might not get trampled.

An hour later, Celeste was bathed and redressed, ready to start the day. "We should be there to support him," Celeste was saying when the door opened and Nani came in with breakfast. "Eat quickly girls, the King wants you by his side. He has an important announcement," not a half an hour later the girls were downstairs, Celeste still sitting in a wheelchair, her injuries largely covered by the gown she was wearing, Kitra as Orana by her side and Gabriel striding across the palace grounds, looking more rested than he had in a long time. "Morning," he said to the two with a polite nod. "Morning brother," Celeste smiled up at him. "How are you feeling?" Celeste shrugged and regretted doing so almost instantly. "Better than yesterday," that was the truth. Gabriel turned to address the crowd, a hush falling over them.

"As you all know, yesterday, the fallen staged an attack on Eden during the Annual New Moon Festival," there were boos and jeers, not directed at the King but in response to the attack. "Today, however, we begin anew. Eden has long since needed an expansion and I think we should take this opportunity to rebuild. Not only our Kingdom, but our hearts and our drive. We, as angels, have always pushed ourselves to achieve greater heights, no pun intended," there were a few chuckles, it was a good joke. "The New Moon Festival marks the coming of the new year and just like this historical event, Heaven will rise anew from the ashes of yesterday and push for a better, more beautiful tomorrow." There were claps, thunderous applause.

"There are, of course, a few more things in need of addressing. The tyrant that led the battle on our beloved city is in custody and will not be released after further questioning." He paused, turned to glance at Celeste and Kitra before turning back towards the crowd. "The next thing I need to address is the matter of my sister," a hush fell upon the people. "As you all know, Celeste was due to be executed for her crimes of treason against the crown. However, these crimes were not enacted by her own hand, but as a puppet of Thanos. It was she who turned on him and killed the most hated man," Gabriel cleared his throat. "As such, Celeste was sent on a journey, one far beyond our reach to a place called the Ebisu Flowersea, where she was given rebirth as an angel, gifted by the One God himself. Yesterday some of you may have seen my sister in action, protecting the people. She sits here beside me today as a Princess once more. I would to warmly and officially rewelcome my sister and her honored guest, Princess Orana, back to Heaven."

The angels in the crowd went wild, they cheered and stomped, screamed and whistled. Celeste felt her cheeks turning bright pink, the people had never cheered for her before, she had never been one of the famous members of the family unless you counted her paintings which were sold at art festivals. They were cheering for Kitra too, chanting Princess Orana and Princess Celeste's names.

It seemed today was going to have two main purposes - one was to search and find Ryker's nephew, the last remaining member of the doctor angel's family, and secondly, two support Gabriel for his speech, since no doubt he was nervous after the horrible fight that broke out last night. Perhaps there would be a third, perhaps if they could be smuggled into where Zadkiel was being held and tortured, they'd be able to break him out and then they wouldn't have to worry about killing the Council anymore. Once Zadkiel was rescued, the Council wouldn't have their hostage anymore, it'd all be resolved. So everything depended on if they could rescue Ryker's nephew. "If this goes smoothly, we'll be finished with the Council by tonight." Kitra said quietly as she bathed Celeste, talking business to avoid blushing too much. "But things never really go smoothly with us, to they?" It wasn't going to be that easy.

It didn't take them too long to be all set up and ready for the speech. Gabriel looked as if he appreciated them being here, and if anything it looked like the King - or Prince, really - was wearing a burden, but it was much lessened than what it once was. As if ever since two people showed up, he felt hope that once again they could fix Heaven and be happy together with what they had left. It was time for the speech, and a whole bunch of civilians were gathered, listening with bated breath. The hateful council stood behind them with Orana and Celeste on either side of Gabriel. Mizuki was supposed to be here, but explaining her return would probably be even more complex.

And so it happened. Gabriel was explaining it all, using his skill with words and people-reading and improvising to come up with a speech, finding it more fluid and natural than just reading off of a script stiffly. He first addressed Iaoth and the rest of the Fallen, and Mizuki was no doubt currently interrogating him to find out what he knew. Iaoel was in the crowd with his arms crossed, an angry scowl on his face at the mention of his brother. Selene was next to him, a fellow Zodiac, trying to tell him that he did the right thing. Fiona was there too, with two black flowers of mourning in her hands. Not that they knew it, but two of the orphans came to visit Eden with her, and they both died in the festival, Taurus's contender failed to protect them. Ami and Finn weren't even listening, lost in their own little world together off to the side.

When Gabriel's speech ended, something happened that no one could have predicted. A black portal appeared right above Gabriel's head and then Maya swooped down like a bringer of death, grabbing him by the throat. "That's nice and all." She said with a sort of bored sigh. "But your King is mine now. He and I need to have a bit of a talk, you see." Kitra sprung into action immediately, her electrified chain sparking and bursting. "Shadow princess, don't you dare!" Orana shouted as she swung it but then Maya appeared from behind her in her shadow. "That's not going to work, Orana." The shadow princess taunted. "I'm only borrowing him. You can have him back tomorrow." And like a wisp she melted, taking Gabriel with her.

Celeste beamed, her brother was doing such a great job. He stood proudly in front of his people, wearing a shiny crown and a new outfit that wasn't ruined by blood. Celeste would have to be fitted for a new set of festival robes, perhaps they could attempt the event in the spring, once the homes and families had rebuilt. There would be plenty of assistance from the palace of course, for now they had set up tents and most guest rooms were filled with families. They were handing out food and extra clothes, any previously arbitrary resources were quickly becoming necessary. Something as small as a patch of grass had become a plot for a family to temporary relocate to until they could set up shelters along the the cities. Heaven would preserver, as it always had. Through thick and thin, the angels would stick together. Hearing Gabriel's confirmation seemed to renew their energy and spirit, their cheers filling the space and making Gabriel break out in a well-earned grin.

It was once again at the height of the turning point when things pivoted. Maya appeared out of nowhere, jumping out of the shadows to grab Gabriel by the throat. "Let me go you tyrant!" He reached for his buster sword, normally attached by a magnetic latch between his wings, only to remember that he had left it with a soldier off to the side of the stage. Just like that the King was gone, swallowed by the depths of Shadows with no one but Maya to guide him through, which wasn't exactly comforting considering that the shadow user was a traitor. There were screams in the crowd, the people were in distress. With Raphael not here, the burden fell onto Celeste. Slowly the girl rose from the wheelchair, ambling forward at a pace that could be compared to an old woman.

"My people-" Celeste cleared her throat, attempting to get them to calm down. "My people, please lend me your ears!" There was a shuffle, a discord that was slowly untying as they watched the Princess, back from the dead, address them. "As it is decreed, in the King's absence, the next of kin is in charge. As King Gabriel has no wife and my older brother, Raphael, is on leave, means that until King Gabriel returned, I am in charge." Her heart fluttered nervously, Celeste had never pictured herself wearing the crown. She, as the youngest, was far from prepared to take on this burden that would have passed to three others before ever being handed down to her. She swallowed hard, feeling the eyes watching her, disbelieving, perhaps unfaithful that Celeste could maintain Heaven until King Gabriel fought his way back home.

"Please remain calm, I will do everything in my power to ensure our King's safe return! For now, please continue to rebuild and go about your daily lives, rest assured, we will not rest until King Gabriel has returned home safely!" With that said, Celeste sank back into the wheelchair, her legs killing her. "Let's go inside, I don't want to do or say anything that could incite fear in the people."

It was chaos now, Gabriel was gone, there was nothing they could do about it for now. It took all of Kitra's limited will power to just keep the twisted rage off of her face. And people like Lilim and Celeste thought that Maya deserved forgiveness, wasn't this proof that she really deserved to have her head chopped off? But then right before another mass panic broke out, Celeste started speaking, standing up slowly, looking frail, oh so frail yet also her strength of heart was shining so brightly and, okay, this was probably super inappropriate but Kitra was feeling the heat deep inside of her just from looking at how brave Celeste was, at how skilled she was at calming everyone down. "You did good, Princess." Kitra went into a deep bow then. "Let's go, our work today just got a whole lot more complicated."

Meanwhile there was a fight breaking out in the dungeons, but it wasn't from the two that Kitra expected. The plan was to go to Mizuki and tell her what happened to Gabriel, but it seemed the fire archer was distracted by something else - most particularly, her bow was aimed right at Councilman Astor. "I knew it! I knew it was you!" She hissed, an uncontrollable flame. "I'll kill you, I'll do it, I don't care anymore!" Astor just shrugged as if he didn't mind at all - or perhaps he had a feeling she wouldn't do it. "If you kill me, you'll become a Fallen." Astor said smugly. "You wouldn't be the Angeal Princess anymore, everyone despises the Fallen." They were arguing right outside of Iaoth's cell, the Fallen was just peering out timidly.

"Iaoth, I'll free you if you kill him!" Mizuki shouted and the Fallen was just sitting there in shock. "But he's just as likely to kill himself if you give him the means. Remember how he was captured during the battle, Princess?" Astor's tone was mocking and insulting and Mizuki didn't want any of it. "Princess Mizuki, you can't do that, let's resolve this peacefully since we're all on the same side." Kitra wheeled Celeste closer to it all and Mizuki just stared at her as if she saw a stranger walk in. Since when did the spider demon ever want to resolve things peacefully? "Tch, Orana, just shut up and let me handle this. All we need is a recorded statement from Iaoth that the Council hired them to attack and you're all goners."

But it seemed Astor didn't find that threatening at all. "Who would believe the words of a Fallen over the trusted Council, Princess?" Astor asked in an unpleasant sneer. "Besides, Iaoth here is not a good person. He killed the woman he loved, after all." And with that Astor just left, leaving Mizuki to stare at him as if he were an alien. The Fallen Gemini shrunk against his cell. "Is that true?" Kitra asked and he made a slow nod. "Yes." His voice was sad, as if he just gave up on life entirely. "Ina... both me brother and I fell in love with her since childhood. He had her first, then I made her fall for me." Iaoth shuddered, holding his head, curling into a ball. Where was the Fallen that was strong enough to stab Celty? "Then the Fallen came to our village, they took all the girls, so my brother and I went to find them, to bring them home. We became Gemini along the way..." His eyes were hollow, his black wings hugging him because no one else would. "She was broken. She was pregnant. There wasn't anything... I saved her, I did the right thing. But I became a Fallen and Iaoel never forgave me since."

Kitra said nothing. What the heck was she supposed to even say, anyways?

Celeste breathed a sigh of relief, glad that it was over. She hated speaking in public and even now, as she sat in the wheelchair, her legs shook at how much effort it had taken to speak before her people. For now until Gabriel returned, Celeste would be in charge of Heaven. The thought was terrifying, how she, a small, young angel, could possibly be in charge of such a large nation, even if it would only be for the next twenty four hours. No wonder Gabriel looked so burdened, no wonder her Mother and Father often seemed so exhausting. Just knowing that one wrong word could be the end of something was enough to make her hands tremble. She hid them in the folds of her dress, Kitra taking the handles of the wheelchair and pushing her back inside the palace, where the snow and wind could not reach, where ice could not creep down her spine and freeze her to her chair.

Downstairs in the dungeons, there was a battle between two strong wills. One being Mizuki, who had challenged Councilman Astor, the one that had decreed that Celeste be turned into a cat for an entire week so that they might confirm she had not used curse magic. What was he doing down here, where so few were permitted to go? It seemed that Mizuki was laying down accusations, trying to get him to confess that it was he and the council that had hired the fallen to attack them. The thought made Celeste's stomach clench painfully. "Councilman Astor, what Mizuki claims is a great accusation against the council, one might say, it could be enough to dismantle it completely." There was a certain threat in her inflection, Celeste was in charge for now, she would have to be the one to handle this mess.

Councilman Astor left, knowing that he could walk free since he had made no confession. Celeste glanced up at Mizuki, "Let's try not to kill anyone, alright?" Celeste sighed, leaning back in her chair. She couldn't speak honestly, not in front of their prisoner. "We need to go upstairs and talk," Celeste would be able to update Mizuki once they were alone. After many twists and turns, they finally found an empty room, the library. "Papa is being held hostage by the council," Celeste said, laying it all out. "They're trying to turn Gabriel into their puppet, so we-Orana and I, we came back to help him dismantle them." Celeste wasn't sure if Mizuki knew this, "they've put Mama in a home for the mentally unstable, no one will listen to her there. They've discredited her completely and now they want to undermine Gabriel too."

"Doctor Ryker said that if we can find out where they're holding his nephew hostage, he'll lead us to Papa." The problem was, they didn't know where Ryker's nephew was. "If we can start searching, I figured they're not holding him the palace grounds, otherwise we would have heard a child crying." Unless the nephew wasn't a child? Or perhaps in a coma? "I don't think they'd risk a servant opening the door and finding him."

It was a very tense confrontation but in the end Mizuki didn't actually go for the kill, and Astor managed to leave, and Mizuki retained her angel status. "Tch, I hate it." She spat, glaring. "I just know he's up to something, they all are. If I didn't have a special job assigned to me by that One God guy, I'd have totally killed him without caring." She glared at Kitra then, knowing that she was Kitra since she saw a glimpse of the Scorpio mark during the fight when she first appeared. Iaoth told his story and it made sense that Iaoel hated him, but Kitra wasn't sure who was right or wrong here. In the first place, the whole thing of being doomed to becoming a Fallen was just such a cruel thing. But then again one could argue that all demons face a fate just as cruel with the monsters sharing a body and soul with you.

So the three girls made their way to the library and Mizuki was quick to make a soundproof charm, one of the most useful charms available to angels, and one of the easiest as well. "Kitra, Celty, tell me everything, got it?" So Celeste took that as her cue to start and so she did, explaining all about what the Council did, about how Zadkiel wasn't really dead, about how he was being used, how they kept trying to control Gabriel until he broke, about how they took Callisto and had her placed in a mental institution where she lost all dignity and credit and authority as well. And when all was said - Kitra pitching in that Maya stole Gabriel for some unknown purpose - Mizuki's fist was practically aflame.

"I knew it!" She hissed, the usual temper tantrum starting up. "I knew it, of course it was them! Those slimy bastards! I was questioning Iao - whatever, I don't remember which one, the Fallen one, he told me the Council promised a safe haven for the Fallen to live if they attacked, if they took you, Celty, and gave you to them secretly." The missing princess grimaced then, her hatred was compounding. "They're our enemy, we have to kill them." Kitra growled. "Once we find Ryker's nephew, we can save Zadkiel and then we can kill the Council and let Zadkiel take the crown again." That was their plan, that was the best they had and Mizuki nodded, thinking.

"Alright, fine, we'll do things your way." Her expression softened then and she pushed Kitra to the side. "I need to talk to my sister, alright? So give us space." The two were most likely never going to get along, and that was just fine. Kitra did so, because she knew how much the two needed a chance to just talk to one another. "Geez, so much has changed. I'm sorry, my pesky human soul was - well, I'm not really allowed to talk about it, it's something more than just Zodiacs though." She sighed and hugged Celeste close. "Once Heaven's saved, I'm gonna have to disappear again. But whatever happens, you know I love you, right? So you better not forget me when I'm gone, you better live a super happy life, even if it means being with that unpleasant spider!" Mizuki had duties now above those of a Zodiac, it was only by luck she was allowed here one last time.

Mizuki was furious, she had every right to be, the way their family had been treated by the council was unacceptable. The council was trying to undermine and embarrass them, they took their Father, discredited their Mother, and now it was found out that they had tried to use the fallen to take Celeste hostage as well. Had it worked, they would have had Gabriel right under their thumb. Thankfully they hadn't anticipated Celeste's true strength and the fact that she could turn into a dragon. Now that they did know, though, they would be able to anticipate it. In this weekend state, any council member would easily be able to overtake Celeste. If not for Kitra who was constantly by her side, they probably would have already made a second attempt. Thankfully they couldn't just put Celeste down now, not with Gabriel missing and they had no idea how much Celeste and Orana truly knew, which meant that for the time being the two girls were safe.

Mizuki was a force of her own to behold, the council seemed almost scared of Celeste's fearless older sister who could not stand the thought of their family being torn apart. "I won't be able to fight, but I can throw them off." Celeste squirmed in her chair, feeling restless having to sit around while the others would get to do the actual fighting. Once again she found herself unable to contribute to the real struggle. Celeste would be busy with Gabriel's duties, however, until Maya returned their King. "We'll have to elect an entirely new council," Celeste mused aloud. "Or maybe get rid of it altogether," the council was only there to ensure that the angels didn't have too much power. Getting rid of it would mean laying waste to the very foundation of their society. The citizens wouldn't be happy, they would probably think that the Angeals had tipped the scales in their favor.

Mizuki shooed Kitra away, her dislike for the girl evident in the way she glared at Celeste's lover. "It's okay, I'm just glad you're back," Celeste smiled. "You are staying, right?" Mizuki couldn't though, she was part of something bigger than all of them, something she wasn't allowed to talk about. Once their home was restored to its former glory, Mizuki would disappear. "I know, I love you too." Celeste reached her arms around to hug Mizu as best as she could, her big sister had been her biggest inspiration for a while, when she had disappeared, just like Raphael, Celeste was devastated. "I know you don't like her, but can you two at least pretend to get along?" Celeste sighed. "I love Kitra and it's not gonna change," she blushed and looked at her lap, glad that she had managed to stay it without stuttering.

"The charm will be wearing off soon, I should probably get going and see what sort of things I have to do to fill in for Gabriel." Orana would have to go to the council meeting soon since she was part of it. "Would you mind taking me to the King's Office?" Celeste asked, knowing she would be stuck there the rest of the day with papers to fill out and orders to give.

Before the charm wore off there was one last thing. "I'm gonna investigate, Kitra, you make sure you stick to Celty like glue because you never know what might happen. When you're off your shift, I swear I'll know where the kid is, and we'll get him together, the three of us." So that was the plan then, and Kitra felt as if it'd be better not to ask exactly how Mizuki was going to find out where Ryker's nephew might be. With that they parted ways, Mizuki heading off on her own, Kitra to go and help Celeste with her paperwork. "I've been an Princess for a long time too, so I know if we worked together we can succeed." Kitra said as Orana, going back to her soft putty-like voice. "It shall be finished more quickly if we do it together."

So Kitra wheeled Celeste to the King's Office where once a long time ago Zadkiel and Callisto worked together on their mutual duties together. Kitra felt a little blush rise on her face at the implications of working on official royal paperwork with Celeste. Although in actuality it was going to have to be the other way around, Kitra as the Queen of Hell with Celty, her Bride and lover, helping. Still, this was good practice for when they were married - okay, no, that was jumping the gun way too quickly, it was way way too early to tell for now. And lo and behold, the stack of paperwork was big. Kitra winked at Celty, she had prior experience as the Queen of Hell, so she knew how to do this.

The hours went by slowly but finally they were finished, and they couldn't have finished sooner for a perfect time, since Mizuki was just casually leaning against the door, sucking on some sort of candy that was no doubt stolen from Obsidian. "Let's go." She said with a half grin, and so Celeste was helped back up to her room for them to discuss the whereabouts of the baby. "So I tortured a Council-" And that was when Kitra stiffened. "Wait, you what?" Mizu grinned cheekily. "Well, how else was I gonna find out? Don't worry, I made Iaoth kill him so I wouldn't turn dark. Can I continue yet?" Kitra sighed she wasn't sure if the loophole counted but considering how light Mizuki's wings were, it seemed it wasn't an issue.

"The kid was taken and is hidden inside a a secret passageway the Council managed to dig up and create while you guys were all at the Flowersea." Mizuki explained, drawing a map of the courtyard. "This rock is covering the fake grass where the secret area is, it leads to the sewage pipes where you have perfect access to the entire palace. Those sneaky fucks." Yes, sneaky indeed, weren't they? "The baby was put in a box with a week's worth of air in the casket where dad was supposed to have been buried." So that means, when Zadkiel had his funeral and Morgana told them to pray for the soul in the casket... it wasn't a lie at all that someone had been buried after all. "We have a few hours then, we have to get him now before he suffocates and Ryker cancels our deal."

The office was something familiar, it looked almost untouched except for the pile of papers that were nearly spilling over the desk. The family portrait was still hung on the wall, although the image of her father had a black veil over it to symbolize that they were still mourning. Celeste wheeled right over to it ad pulled the veil off. Her Father wasn't dead, there was no reason to cloak it. The guard at the door seemed uneasy as he closed it behind the two girls, leaving them to take care of official royal business. "There's so much paperwork, how do they do it all?" Celeste groaned, running a hand through her hair. "This is so tiring, we've been at this for an hour and we haven't made a dent," more papers kept coming in. At one point Celeste had a feeling they were just handing her blank papers to sign as a joke, although each one had scribbles that she didn't really bother reading as they were mere building permits asking for permission to relocate resources from the outer districts and import them here, to Eden.

"Thanks for being here, I know this is probably boring you." Although Kitra liked reading, Celeste was sure that she probably didn't like reading about boring things like size perimeters and whether they should use clay or mortar. "It's not as fun as the tour I promised you," Celeste would have to take Kitra on a tour of the real Heaven someday, since there was still so much Celeste herself wanted to see. "The ocean," she suddenly recalled. "I want to go there someday," Celeste had never been to the beach. The closest she had ever come was the ferry that she and Kitra took on their way to the esteemed Hotel Loupelle. "Wait a second, if I'm Queen for the day, that means I have power." She suddenly grinned, "all of those unjustly jailed people, let's release them." Of course that only meant those from say, the hotel, or orphans that had been caught up in the fray.

Rightfully jailed criminals would not be released, Celeste couldn't have them dancing free in the streets. Besides, she owed the Hotel Owner after he had given them that tip about the Ebisu Flowersea. It seemed that her time as ruler for the day was coming to an end and thank goodness, all of this pressure and those decisions she had to make would go back to Gabriel for approval. "If I do ever become ruler, remind me to appoint someone to sign all of these things." Celeste leaned back in her wheelchair, her hand hurt and was smudged with ink. It seemed Mizuki too, had done her due diligence and came to give them the news on her search for the missing nephew of Doctor Ryker. "Mizuki! You can't go torturing angels!" Celeste gasped in horror at the actions of her big sister, not that she was particularly surprised.

"I know where Papa is buried, we can go there now." Celeste was glad that they weren't going to leave her behind, even if it was mostly because they were afraid that the council would strike while the iron was hot and take Celeste hostage. They couldn't though, they couldn't stage another accident, not so soon and with no one to lead them they would be forced to appoint the next of head, the General of the Heavenly Army, as Heaven's next leader. No, the council wouldn't want that at all. They would rather get their hands on another puppet than appoint a military man as the one to lead next. "How long do you think it'll take us to dig a hole?" Considering that the casket was buried six feet underground, it could take them quite a few hours.

"Usually there's not just the rulers, but also assistants helping. But even with assistants, it's a lot of work." Still, Kitra was going through it at a relatively rapid pace, having memorized Orana's signature from the book detailing her and Azphille's meeting, love, and escape from society. "It's kind of expected that it's a lot of work though, we're responsible for countless lives, a heavy weight like that isn't something you can do carelessly." Even when Kitra had been Queen she was doing her best. Sure, she was a warmonger, sure she picked lots of fights with Heaven, but she still took care of things on the domestic side as well, she still made sure the quality of life of the people wasn't worsening. Zepar left her a big mess behind to deal with, thankfully Kitra was able to turn a broken Kingdom into something strong enough to rival Heaven. "Let's free Scylla too, let's let her escape to Hell to where Gremory is." Scylla had reformed, she wanted to do better by Lilim now, so she deserved better than to rot in a cell.

Mizuki was there and she rolled her eyes at Celty's indignant cry against her actions. "What, would you rather I just look in every house? We won't be able to save pops unless we play on the same level the Council is, y'know?" It was the truth of the situation but of course everything had it's risks. "Just so you know, letting Iaoth got might have been a mistake." Mizuki groaned and rolled her eyes, she was going to retort but Celeste's request rang in her ears, the one of the two of them at least pretending to get along. "I'd rather risk the Fallen than lose our one chance of saving Pops and ma." Mizuki decided, and she had that stubborn face on, she wasn't going to argue further.

So Celeste showed them the way to Zadkiel's funeral, and it seemed there was going to have to be plenty of digging to be done "I brought shovels, so let's just get to it." Mizuki sighed, twirling her shovel. Kitra took one as well, but there were only two because Celeste wasn't yet healed enough for this sort of thing. "Give yourself a tail and use it to help dig, if you think you can handle it." Mizuki said with a shrug. And so they started digging in the late night, under cover of darkness so no one could see. It was night time, so chances are no one would go out and actually see them digging. And finally it was done and one could hear the shallow breathing of a toddler in a casket. There it was, a charmed-into-coma little boy, looking frail and far too thin.

"The Council is going to know we saved him, so if we're going to see Zadkiel, it has to be now." Kitra told Ryker when they went to him. The doctor embraced the child, the last remnant of his family, he lost his sister, and his parents were killed during the Lucifer wars. It was why he became a doctor in the first place. "Alright, once I stabilize him, we'll go to the Council's secret base, hidden inside of Eden itself." So they followed Ryker, who opened a passageway behind the statue of Ezreal. "Zadkiel is imprisoned just beyond there. I can't go any farther, I need to leave Eden behind." He glanced back at them and looked at Celeste in particular. "If this is too dangerous, I can escape with you, Princess Celeste, and let Orana and Mizuki handle this themselves."

"Yes, Scylla deserves a second chance." All people did, it was only right to give those who had wronged a chance to redeem themselves. Celeste had gotten one, it was only fair if these people did too. It was on this basis that she released them, telling the guards to let them walk free. Of course the dangerous and violent criminals jeered and booed, knowing that they would still be behind bars while they rot in a place no light could reach them. "Please exit right through there, rest assured, you won't be tried twice for the same crime." Celeste had checked their laws, once a criminal's name had been cleared, you couldn't retry them for the same thing they had been originally convicted of. "Thank you for listening," Celeste said to the guards who all seemed so flustered by this sudden turn in events. "Will King Gabriel approve when he returns?" Celeste frowned. "My big brother is stubborn, but he knows when to not cross a line."

Mizuki was being her usual self, stubborn and self righteous by justifying her actions. "Just because they play dirty doesn't mean we have to. Aren't we supposed to be the ones that stand on the higher ground? Isn't that what makes us better than them?" Celeste questioned, but neither Kitra nor Mizuki seemed to be in a listening mood as her words went completely unheard. Both girls seemed intent on killing the remaining members of the council, which was fine and all except for the fact that their plans included murdering and Celeste wasn't sure that the entire council was guilty of the corruption. It could be a handful like Morgana and Astor, or the two angels could have been threatened to act like this by the fallen. There was no telling what the cause and effect was and Celeste fully intended to get to the bottom of it.

The spot where Zadkiel was supposed to be buried was underneath a willow tree. The three of them were completely hidden and with only two shovels it was clear that they intended to keep Celeste out of this. "I-I can help!" She said, her voice squeaking ever so slightly. What animal had a good tail for digging? Celeste went through her head, trying to figure out which one would be best. "Oh, but Orana says I shouldn't do any transformations," her heart sunk, it seemed that Celeste would have to stay out of this one. Instead she pushed them on with words of encouragement, wishing that she could be of some sort of use. By the time they reached the bottom it was almost midnight and the child had been saved from his earth covered prison just in the nick of time.

Doctor Ryker met them in the med ward, where he was busy at work. As soon as he saw the bundle he took off, heading towards the trio and taking the child from them. Just like he promised, he took them to the spot that would lead them to where her Father was. Doctor Ryker offered to escape with her, but Celeste shook her head. "I'm not going to abandon my Father, not when he needs my help." Celeste stood up, her legs aching, but it was good to stand, she needed to move around after spending an entire day with her butt glued to the chair. "I'm going to help bring Papa home." Then they would expose the truth, the council would be revealed for what it truly was; a sham.

It seemed like the two sisters were at a bit of an impasse, one being fine with extreme methods to win, the other wanting to retain the moral high ground. Kitra could sort of see things from both ways although history showed that she was also always willing to do the drastic thing if it meant victory. it was obvious to anyone here why Mizuki was so feared, why she was famed to stray the line between angel and fallen so dangerously. "So you'd rather I just not get the info and we let the kid die and let them keep torturing Pops?" Mizuki snapped defensively. "Being better than them means nothing if they keep controlling us, I did what we had to do." And so they were digging, just Mizuki and Kitra digging to the beat of Celeste's encouragement and support, once again forced on the sidelines. "Don't worry, you're helping just by being here." Kitra assured her lover as Mizuki rolled her eyes.

And so they came here, Ryker was showing them where to go, but he made an offer, to escape with Celeste so that she wouldn't have to be in danger, so that she wouldn't hold them back and make it harder to fight. But Celeste refused it, she wanted to be there, she wanted to help save her father, she wanted to help put the family back together as best as they could. "Okay, but just remember. You can't kill them, not unless you want to become Fallen. I know, it's tempting, but-" Kitra grinned then, because there was a very delicious loophole about all of this. "We'll give them trials, but Morgana's ass is mine." Ryker stared for a few seconds, that didn't seem like Princess Orana at all. And then his eyes narrowed, he looked between Orana and Celeste and then his eyes widened. "Kitra, of course it's you, isn't it? How did I not realize this sooner?"

And so they descended down into the secret passage, the one hidden by the statue of the old King Ezreal. Kitra had her electrified chain out, Mizuki's bow was drawn and a fire arrow was lit to give them light, and Celeste was there as well, they were all ready. "Be ready for anything." Mizuki said quietly as they reached a door. It was locked with a combination and Mizuki managed to pick the lock using shards of an arrow shaft, forcing it open to see a laboratory sort of thing, all clean and sterile and pristine with little areas where you could swear you knew blood was once there, but it was cleaned up. And then right in the middle of the room, suspended in a tube, with his limbs and wings removed, was King Zadkiel, looking so shriveled, so small.

"What are you three doing here?" A familiar angel's voice went through and she was aiming a gun right at the King trapped in glass and sleep. "This is a private area, you shouldn't just barge in, you know." Morgana, the Council Head, the one with all the authority and power in Heaven just about now. "That's my father. You'll give him back now." The divine star hissed viciously and then she paused. "Wait... your wings? What's-" Morgana chuckled then. "That's right, I became a Fallen." She had been harvesting Zadkiel's feathers to put on her wings which she plucked all the feathers out of in order to keep up the masquerade. "An angel tried to assassinate me, so I killed him first." She shrugged, as if it didn't matter at all. "I suggest you leave and not say a word if you want your dear father to live." What were they going to do? What could they do?

Perhaps the shadow opening up behind Morgana was the answer to everything.

Celeste's eyes widened at the sight of her Father, suspended by chains and fed by tubes. "P-Papa," she stuttered, getting out of the wheelchair as it was nothing but a hindrance. The angel nearly fell forward but steadied herself, instead sinking to the floor in front of her father. "Papa, it's me, it's Celeste. Can you hear me?" Her Father wasn't looking good, his eyes had an almost hollow quality about them, as though he couldn't see what was before him. Tears sprung to her eyes, she threw her arms around his neck, her Father never having seemed so small. Throughout her entire childhood, her Father had been an action hero, a larger than life presence who cast shadows across anything that moved and struck fear into the hearts of those he opposed. It was an insult to see him here, curled up feebly on the floor with no ability to move. "Papa, don't worry, I'll get you out of here." She tugged wildly at the chains, trying to break them with her bare hands.

The click of a gun was what made her freeze. Guns were not angelic weapons, they were something from Obsidian. So where was that sound coming from? Slowly Celeste turned, Councilwoman Morgana standing there with a cat like grin that told of eating a canary. "You," the angel seethed, knowing that she could do nothing in the face of a gun. Celeste had seen what those nasty things could do, they were dangerous and powerful, much more so than just fire or lightning. "You, I-I'll-" she winced and looked down, one of her eyes had turned a dangerous gold. Celeste pressed the heel of her palm into her eye to make it stop. She couldn't turn, she couldn't rely on her powers because she might become consumed. Besides that, even if she transformed, Morgana could pull the trigger and shoot right through her.

Her eyes began to widen, opening up silently behind the councilwoman was a familiar shadow. With one might strike of his sword, Gabriel had thrust the weapon through her chest. "The fallen aren't angels," he hissed, pulling the sword out. Celeste jumped into action, tackling the woman and grabbing the gun from her. "Kitra!" Celeste called, "she's all yours!" The angel knew when to pull back, she was in no condition to do battle. Celeste scrambled backwards out of the line of fire, holding the gun close to her. She had no idea how to use it, perhaps it would be best to destroy it. Guns didn't belong in their world for good reason. Angels could kill fallen due to the fact that they were no longer angels. Once you became a fallen you were fair game for either territory, which was how they executed criminals.

While the battle ensued, Celeste dragged her wheelchair over to where her Father was. She tore the key off of her neck, using the blade from her scythe to cut away at the chains. "I'll get you out of here, so just hang on a little longer." Her weapon continued to saw at the metal, a grinding sound that made her hair stand on edge emitting from between.

While Morgana was talking, while Morgana thought she had the upper hand, it was quickly becoming obvious that no, the Councilwoman really didn't have the advantage here. If it had been just Mizuki, Kitra, and Celeste, things could have gotten bad, but no one expected the shadow to extend behind her, for a portal to appear, for Gabriel to exit the other side with his buster sword piercing Morgana through the back. "H-how?" Morgana asked as she spat up blood, the sword going right through her. "How are you here?" Gabriel was murdering someone in cold blood, then Celeste acted quickly, taking the gun and wrestling it away, offering up the meal for Kitra to eat. "It's Gabriel's rightful kill, not mine." The demon bowed and bared her fangs that Raphael left intact. Gabriel nodded and raised his sword.

"D-don't kill me!" Morgana spluttered but it was too late for anyone to save her. Most likely no one wanted to in the first place. "We just wanted... to make Heaven pure... to make Heaven clean again, clean of those disgusting... scourges from Hell! Demons, you're allied with... demons! Have you forgotten what... it means to be an angel?!" Gabriel glared at the woman that turned him into a puppet and then raised his sword. "It's you that forgot the meaning of being an angel." He said and before Morgana could say more, he swung his sword down, taking off her head. Kitra knew what she had to do, she pushed past Gabriel and grabbed Maya's arm, wrenching her and pinning her to the wall. "Let's take her prisoner-"

But then there was a flash of light and Ktira somehow ended up on the ground. "We're letting her go." Gabriel said without hesitation. "Because the Angeal royal family owes you a debt." Kitra snarled, glaring at Mizuki who just shrugged, she didn't know Maya and didn't really have an opinion on the matter. "I'm not an Angeal, so she's free for me to kill! Did you forget how she betrayed us?" Maya gazed into Kitra's eyes with sadness and regret, it was obvious she felt bad about what she did but Kitra was ignoring it. "While I was spying, Gabriel found me in my snake form and he told me what was happening. We planned it at the speech, so the Council would take their eyes off of him, and we were going to wipe up the stain that used to be a council."

Maya glanced up at Gabriel and perhaps there was something between them that wasn't just someone that loved Lilim and someone that loved Maya. Maybe they were closer, but it was way too early to tell. "I'm not asking you to forgive her, Kitra." Gabriel warned, he was going to protect Maya and let her go free. "But Maya helped us, she helped save Heaven, she deserves a fair chance against you on the battlefield." Kitra hissed, she wasn't going to accept this. "If we let her go, do you know how many demons are going to die? Do you want that blood on your hands?" Gabriel sighed then, but was still resolute in his decision. "As the acting King of Heaven, as thanks for her assistance, Maya Ataera goes free." The chain startd to glow with electricity. "As Hell's rightful Queen, I have to kill her to protect my people!"

Maya melted into the shadows, leaving them with this mess to clean up. "We have evidence, we can convict the council now." Celeste was just as upset as Kitra by this turn of events, but she knew that her brother wasn't stupid, it had been a strategic move, one to ensure that if Satan did end up as ruler, his people would be in good graces. He was thinking like a King, which Celeste very much respected him for. That didn't mean she had to like the decision though. "Let's go, there's nothing we can do about it now and Papa needs to see a doctor." Celeste gestured to the man slumped in the wheelchair, unmoving. "We also need to find out where they're keeping Mama, she can't stay there much longer." The longer Callisto stayed in a home for the mentally unstable, the more likely it was that their Mother would begin to doubt herself and her sanity. "I'm sorry Kitra," Celeste said quietly. "We'll catch her though, don't worry."

It was getting late, by now Ryker will have fled Eden with his nephew and they would have no doctor to fix their Father. Celeste disposed of the gun, crossing the room slowly as the pain in her legs was something awful. Her Father needed the chair more than her though, Celeste wouldn't complain. Her hand slipped into Kitra's, she hoped that the demon wasn't mad at her, it wasn't a decision Celeste had made. "I'm sorry, I'll do my best to try and convince him that Maya is an enemy, but well... you know how love goes." The two of them were proof of that alone, that sometimes love got in the way of things making sense. Celeste stumbled, her legs wanting to give out. She had to appear strong though, especially since they were about to confront the council for their crimes against the King. Morgana's blood stained Gabriel's white cloak, his expression was anything but playful as he pushed the wheelchair containing their Father.

For modesty's sake, Gabriel removed his cloak and draped it around their Father who was wearing nothing but the shreds of the pants they had last seen him in. "I'll do right by you," Gabriel said quietly. "This ends today," by the time they reached the palace the grounds had gone quiet. The council had yet to go home, in fact, they were waiting for the King to return, no doubt eager to see Celeste's short reign come to an end. "It's late My King, you should get some-" Councilman Astor froze when he saw that they were pushing the chair. "Seize him!" Instantly two figures tackled Councilman Astor, who had tried to run. The palace guards surrounded the remaining council members. "You are all under arrest for suspicion to overthrow the throne and treason against the crown."

"My King, you're acting unreasonable. One might think that your power has gone to your head if you arrest the entire-"

"Silence! I know you've been working with Morgana, a fallen!" There were a few gasps, perhaps not all of the council was guilty, but they would be tried no less. "Mizuki, take Father to the med ward and have whatever Doctor is there treat him. Nani!" Gabriel turned to the maid who had just bustled onto the scene, "send word to my Mother that I will be coming to collect her tomorrow." Gabriel was going to see to it that each council member was escorted to their cell. "Celeste, I'd like for you to go get some rest, you shouldn't be on your feet. Orana, I entrust my sister to you." With one last swish of his cloak, King Gabriel set off to ensure that the council members were put behind bars.

If Maya hadn't escaped into the shadows, Kitra and Gabriel would have definitely gone to arms against one another, so in one way, Maya leaving to go back to wherever the hell she came from was a good thing. "That might have been our last chance to kill her, Lilim won't let us once we're back in Hell." Zadkiel needed care, he needed help and some sort of healing, and Ryker wasn't available. But then something came to mind. "...Doesn't Lilim's mom have some sort of healing ability? I remember Callisto mentioning giving Lilim healing training under Scylla before." They were going to have to find where Scylla ended up after being released from prison by Celeste's good graces, she might be Zadkiel's last hope. "Let's just get out of here already." Mizuki was oddly silent, usually she would be all up and talking but she hardly said a word.

So Gabriel went to get rid of the Council once and for all, putting them all to trial at a very elaborate scene. Zadkiel was all the proof they needed, their old King was alive, and in a very bad condition. The Council had lied to them about Zadkiel's fate from the very beginning, it wasn't Skyla who did it at all. "Remember your debt, Gabriel." Kitra muttered behind Gabriel's swishing cloak. "What we discussed earlier." Heaven was going to have to deliver aid to help Hell out against Satan's onslaught, that was the deal, that was the whole reason the spider queen came here in the first place. He gave her a subtle nod and went off to do his business, at which point Mizuki took Celeste and Kitra aside, giving them serious looks.

Once they were given relative privacy in the hall, Mizuki glanced at them both with a grave expression. "I won't be able to help with Hell, sorry about that." And perhaps for once she actually was sorry about all of this. "My job is done, I'll have to go. When the sun rises, I'll have disappeared with the darkness of the night." She actually seemed sad, maybe because she wouldn't actually get to say goodbye to Raphael, to Zadkiel, to Callisto. She wouldn't get to apologize to them for all the trouble, she wouldn't get to tell the how much she appreciated them. "I'll wait for you in our room, Celeste. Say whatever you need to, okay?" For once Mizuki and Kitra exchanged a glance that had no hatred, only grudging respect.

Well, there was on stop Kitra needed to get to first. She sent a summons to Scylla via a magic circle and about half an hour later, Lilim's mother was there, looking saner than she ever has been. "Brother Zadkiel was alive this whole time?" Kitra explained to her all that had come to pass. "Ryker's gone, so we'll need your help. You have healing powers, don't you?" Scylla paused and this hesitation made the demon nervous. "I do." She said at last. "But it's not like what you're thinking, Princess Orana. I speed up the body's natural rate of regeneration, but I can't magically make limbs grow back." That meant... was Zadkiel going to have to remain limbless? Or did angels naturally regrow limbs? How did Finn get his limb back? So many questions, so little answers, so Kitra sent Scylla with a seal signed with Orana's name to meet Zadkiel in the medical ward and then she went to Celeste's room, falling asleep in seconds.

A look passed between Mizuki and Kitra and for a moment Celeste thought that maybe there was hope for the two to get along. "I wish you could stay longer," Celeste said quietly. "I wish we had more time to talk, it's been ages since I've last seen you." With that Celeste took in another breath, her smile soft with a hint of sadness. "I know you're apart of something bigger though, something that means you have to work far away." She took Mizuki's hands in her own. "And while I'll miss you, I have no right to be selfish and demand for you to stay." It was too bad that the others wouldn't be able to say their goodbyes. When morning came Mizuki will have been gone once more, like a dream. "You should try to fly tonight and make it to see Raphael, I know he misses you a lot." Celeste wrapped her arms around her big sister, taking in her scent, remembering the curvature of her body.

It was a tearful goodbye and by the time Celeste reached her room she was too exhausted to eat dinner. She kicked off her shoes and stumbled into bed, glad that her Father had been returned home, that she would get to see her Mother one last time before heading to Hell with Kitra to stop the assault on the Onyx Citadel and restore Hell to its former glory. Celeste wanted to be by Kitra's side as the Kingdom rose once more and they revitalized the trees and restored the dragon population. "Goodnight Kitra," Celeste said as she curled up in her side and left a kiss on her love's collarbone like she did every night. Hopefully tomorrow would bring answers, a new dawn, a new day. Her head spun at the possibility of it all, of getting to see her Mother again, of her parents being reunited and taking back their throne as they rightfully should. Those council members would suffer for their injustice against the crown and for now, that was enough.

When dawn broke the next day, Celeste felt much better than before. Her feet were healed, there was no more need for bandages over the scrapes and bruises she had acquired while fighting against the fallen. "Morning," Celeste moaned, stretching out her wings. She went to start the bath, wondering what would be for breakfast. "It's so early," she noted, glancing at the solar clock on the wall. Celeste had completely undressed before realizing that she had left her towel draped over a chair the day before. The angel ruffled through piles of folded towels underneath the sink, but those were only the size of towels one used for their hands. No, those would not do. With a slight shiver at the cold morning air, Celeste left the safety of the bathroom wearing nothing but her birthday suit.

And so morning broke, and Mizuki was long gone. At Celeste's suggestion she took off, flying as hard and as fast as possible towards Hell for the chance of a goodbye with Raphael, her twin, the sibling she was closest to out of them all. Who knew if she made it or not? Who knew if the two ever got to have their final farewell? Celeste and Kitra would have to wait and see. Meanwhile, here they were, in Heaven, while Hell was in turmoil. Satan hadn't attacked yet, but it was only a matter of time until the Onyx Citadel was under siege. The last barricade at the Sloth Village had been taken, the Onyx Citadel was open for being picked off at any moment. Every second, every minute was vital and Kitra really didn't want to spend it feeling cramps and cleaning blood off of her special spot. But at the very least she got to slowly see her features melt back to her original self.

And then Celeste appeared, fully naked, while Kitra was also naked, cleaning off her lunar flow. And then even though they've both seen each other naked before, somehow like this it was just so incredibly embarrassing it was impossible to explain. "A-Ah, um, I'm just, y'know, lunar flow, that stuff. I'm also me again." Back to her bony, angular self, with the scowl and the red scissors and blue tentacles out for anyone to see. "Don't worry, I'm not a defect, I'm just letting them out." Because being stifled for so long was making her ache unbearably, her monster side was unrelenting. Letting the tentacles and scissor blades out like this was at least appeasing her other half.

Once their mutual morning rituals were over Gabriel went into their room after knocking. Thankfully Ktira and Celeste were done eating and were now dressed, Kitra was sporting her usual casual black dress with a red pattern on the hem, but adjusted for winter with a black coat with a big poofy ribbon, as well as gloves to help protect her against the snow. "Good, you're still here." Gabriel looked at Kitra steadily and then frowned. "But you're not Orana anymore, I'll have to make up something for the speech." He looked at Celeste then. "Now, this is going to be difficult to say, but-" Kitra grimaced, interrupting him with a scowl. "I know. I'm gonna go to Hell, they can't wait anymore." She took her lover's hands gently, glad to be herself again. "You gotta stay here and help Gabriel get the army ready. I know, I don't wanna be apart from you either, but this has to happen. It'll be faster with you helping, so the Angel Army can come protect us sooner."

Gabriel seemed to sense underlying anxiety in Kitra's voice though. Specifically, Maya could strike the moment Kitra left Celeste's side. "Don't worry, I had Maya make a Heavenly Vow not to take you, Celeste. She was never going to do that in the first place." The spider queen growled but it was clear that the Heavenly Vow couldn't be faked in any way. "Celeste, Scylla says that Father's awake. Also, we're scheduled to go to the Amalthina House to get Mother and bring her back, so we have a busy day ahead of us." And then he grinned to himself. "Kitra, I have a special present for your journey back, since Skyla is in Hell right now."

And that present turned out to be in the barn, a pegasus, pink with big magnificent wings and a mane that just screamed majesty. "A horse." Kitra said blankly and Gabriel snickered behind her. "It's perfect for you, isn't it? It's a pegasus, his name is Unlucky because he kept getting sick when he was younger." Unlucky the Pegasus was munching on the grass, looking healthy as ever. "But it's so girly!" Gabriel chuckled more. "Don't worry, he's one of our more manly pegasi." He reassured her, petting the pegasus.

It pained Celeste to have to part with Kitra, but she knew that Kitra was right. Celeste belonged here in Heaven, for the moment at least, and Kitra needed to return home, her people needed her. Gabriel seemed to agree with this mode of action, seeming a little bit happier now that he had jailed the council. "Just because it's the right thing to do doesn't mean I don't have to like it," Celeste shuttered at the thought of what could possibly happen while the two were apart. "I'll miss you," it was no secret that the two girls were madly in love. "We'll come as fast as we can with as many people and supplies as we can muster." The time to depart was arriving all too soon and by mid morning they were standing by the stables, Unlucky the Pegasus getting suited up for the journey to Hell. "Don't worry, I've ridden him before, he's very gentle." Celeste fastened a small bag to the side saddle. "In case you get hungry," she explained. "Um, but Pegasus don't eat like you and I, they sort of feed off of optimism."[/color]

Gabriel chuckled, "no Celeste, we just told you that so you'd stop feeding them sweets from the kitchen," her cheeks turned pink at the discovery that Pegasus didn't just feed off of positive energy. "They eat a mainly plant based diet, but they're not particularly picky so dead grass is fine." Celeste stroked Unlucky's neck, the horse seeming eager to take off. "They like flying, to them it's a treat, so the longer the better." He handed the reigns to Kitra then, "just make sure that you don't approach him from behind unless you want to get kicked." You never walked behind any sort of four legged animal as they could be especially unpredictable when they thought no one was around. "Stay safe, I'll see you soon." Celeste threw her arms around Kitra, their lips locking. Gabriel cleared his throat and Celeste blushed, stepping back. "I love you," she said, staying and waving until Kitra had disappeared in the distance.

"Come on, we have work to do." Celeste followed Gabriel back into the Palace where the servants were hard at work cleaning the mess of fake grievance of the death of the previous King off of the furniture. "Papa is awake, right?" Celeste had to jog to keep up with Gabriel as her big brother was much taller than she. "Yes, he's awake," he glanced down at his little sister. "It's not pretty," they stopped outside of the door that led into the King's bedroom. "I had him moved here for privacy's sake." He rapped once, the solid oak gleaming as though it had just been polished. Slowly the door opened, revealing Scylla dressed in the outfit of a nursemaid. "My King," she dipped her head ever so slightly. "How is he?" Celeste asked, trying to see over both of their heads.

"This way," she ushered them into the room, closing the door behind them. Celeste headed towards the bed which was crowded by doctors from the Royal Hospital. "Excuse me," she inched her way between them, the doctors all staring at her wide eyed and slack jawed. "So it's true, look at that, a prime example of limb regrowth." Someone brushed against her wing and Celeste flinched, stepping back. "S-sorry, I was just admiring Ryker's handiwork." Yes, the wing that had been cut off and regrown, it was nothing short of a miracle. "Do you think you can grow Papa's-I mean the King's back too?" She asked anxiously and the man that seemed to be the head of them stroked his beard. "It's very puzzling, Ryker left us no notes of his work, but we do know what strain of charms he based it on."

"I think he used an Obsidian example," Celeste recalled. "Something called stem-cells?" The doctors nodded and wrote this down. "Do you mind if we examine your wing?" Celeste blushed, Gabriel quickly coming to her defense. "You'll have to excuse my sister, it's only natural she'd have a mistrust in strangers." There was a quick bounce of heads with fake sympathy. "It's fine, it's for Papa's sake, it's not like they're harvesting organs." She shrugged off the top of her winter dress, pressing the cloth against her chest and extending her wings to their full length so that they could examine them.

"Of course I'll stay safe, have I ever lost a fight?" Well, technically she lost plenty of times. Even though she killed Furfur and Ronove at the Envy Village she lost to Thanos. She also lost to Mizuki and her actual original body was incinerated into nothing, it was only through sheer luck that Thanos had inserted her soul in an alternate dimension to be tortured in, which Maya was able to extract into a fake body made by Gremory and Lilim. "There's no way I'll lose, not with your love helping me. So we'll definitely meet again." Celeste threw a kiss onto her and Kitra returned it, it felt sweet but also bitter because they didn't know how long this parting would be - but then Gabriel broke up the kiss. "I'll miss you, but it's okay, because this isn't goodbye." And so Unlucky flapped his magnificent wings and they were off, leaving Eden behind, heading towards Heaven's Gate, towards the Onyx Citadel.

The flight was long and tiring and boring as well, since they needed to take plenty of breaks for Unlucky to munch on grass in order to keep going. She also had little cookie in her bag ad ate them lovingly. "Wow, you're really great at-" Oh, right, Celeste wasn't here, she was back in Eden, dealing with stuff that needed to be dealt with. For some reason not being with Celeste felt like being stabbed by an ice pick and when she passed Heaven's Gate atop Unlucky's back, it really hit her that they were apart now, that who knows how long it'd be until the Angel Army was ready to march. So Kitra allowed herself to cry because there was no one here to see, it was just her and Unlucky here, up in the sky, leaving Heaven's green pastures behind for the dead wasteland that was Hell.

It was nearly night when Kitra made it to the Onyx Citadel, setting Unlucky down. Cambion was there, greeting her, Skyla gave her a blank stare but you could tell she was happy from the way she flattened her ears against her head. Sunny jumped on her and playfully bit a tentacle - this time without actually biting down - but then let out a cry when he realized his mama wasn't there too. "Welcome back!" Lilim exclaimed, pressing a button on some sort of gadget which decided to make a loud honking noise and blow streamers out. "Minnie's still hurt, so please lead us to victory, big sis!" Kitra's eyes were long since dry and she nodded. "Of course, that's what I'm here for. As long as I breathe, the Onyx Citadel won't fall."

Cambion took Kitra then and brought her to the strategy room, where logs of every battle had been. It was always one of Kitra's things to know how the enemy liked to fight each battle, to see how they reacted in what situation so that Kitra would know what to expect and counter it. Studying your opponent meant learning their quirks. There weren't any injured around, which meant one thing. Lilim was doing her duty as Princess, even if it meant feeling all of their wounds. But after being hurt by Liandry's Torment on the Altar, perhaps this pain was nothing to her. "Before you head off into battle, there's something we should do first." Cambion said thoughtfully and Kitra was thinking the same thing, grinning wildly. "Hell yes I'm taking the throne again. It's time for Hell's rightful Queen to come back to town!" Oh, if only Celeste was here to see her re-coronation.

Celeste had every inch of her wings touched, from the most sensitive points to the soft feathery down on the inside. They measured and took recordings, marking irregularities in feather growth and checking underneath them. After what felt like almost an hour, it was finally over and Celeste could properly dress herself once more. "Leave us, I'd like to give my sister some time with our Father alone." The Doctors bustled out, closing the door softly behind them. Celeste went over to the bed, hoping that she was able to aid in any research on wing regrowth. "Papa," Celeste sat beside his bed. He looked so weak and frail, unable to move for he had no limbs. His eyes opened ever so slightly, they had a blank look about them. "Celeste?" He croaked, "Celeste, is that you?" Celeste reached over, wanting to take his hand but there was none to take. She settled for softly brushing his shoulder, "I"m here, it's me." She affirmed, fighting against the tears.

"Celeste, they're after you-" he stopped, coughing. "You need to leave, run!" Celeste shook her head, "No, the council is gone, Gabriel took care of them. It's okay, you're safe now," but her Father wasn't listening. He was riled up, trying to move, trying to get out from underneath the blanket. Gabriel steered Celeste away from the bed and muttered something, using a sleeping charm to put their Father at rest. It was only once they were outside the room that she allowed herself to cry. Gabriel didn't regret his decision to tell her that he was awake, Celeste needed to see what had happened to their Father. "I tried to warn you," he said quietly, "he's in no condition to retake the crown." That much was clear, although it was still devastating to see your parent, your rock, your idol, fall apart.

"L-let's go pick up Mother," she said at last. The Doctors had returned and filed quietly into the room, Scylla close on their heels. Celeste and Gabriel went the other way, to an awaiting carriage. They climbed inside, the carriage jostling as the Pegasus pulling it started in a trot to where their Mother was being kept. "I'm sure she'll be happy to see the outside again," Celeste was still dabbing at the corners of her eyes. "She probably missed us a great deal," Gabriel was quiet. "How was she when you last saw her?" He ran a hand through his hair. "Better, nearly fully healed. The council took her before she could regain her strength, they knew they wouldn't be able to fight her if she was at full power." It made sense considering Callisto was one of the mightiest warriors Heaven had ever seen. She and Zadkiel had been a dynamic duo on the war front during their time as soldiers.

The carriage pulled up to the building their Mother was institutionalized in. It was like something of a bad horror movie, with a creaky wrought iron gate topped with spikes and large black birds sitting on the roof. "This place gives me the creeps," Celeste admitted with a shiver, pulling her winter coat closer to her. "Let's go inside, they're expecting us." Gabriel needn't knock, the door seemed to open on its own. Inside the place was warmly lit and bright, they were having group therapy and eating pudding in a large space where a fire had been lit. "King Gabriel, Princess Celeste, what an honor." The Head Orderly rose from the circle of patients, all dressed in various shades of white, and walked over to greet them. He bowed, his dark skin shining in the low light. "Hello Orderly Rowan, I'm here to pick up the Queen Callisto."

"Yes, right this way, she had quite a spell last night so I'm not sure if she's up yet." A spell? Celeste swallowed, she didn't like the sound of that. She remained by her Brother's side as they went deeper into the building, where framed photos of healed patients and small snippets of their stories lined a wall peppered with tiny blue birds. The inside of the Institution was quite pleasant and it had been decorated for the New Year. They stopped just outside a door labeled with their Mother's name, a small picture of a crown on the chalkboard. After knocking, Orderly Rowan opened up the door where their Mother was sitting in a rocking chair, watching the snow fall. "Mama!" Celeste cried, practically throwing herself into her arms. "Celeste!" Her Mother rose to her feet, throwing her arms around her daughter in kind.

And so they were gathered, for Kitra's re-coronation as Hell's Queen and ruler. At the balcony the lead to the throne room, Kitra stood, gazing down at the courtyard below, decorated with statues and vines on the walls, with chairs and some small semblance of a garden. Minerva, badly injured, was allowed to attend but Lilim was hardly a doctor, more like a field medic. She was the closest they had, though. In all honesty, according to Gremory, this snow was a good thing for Hell, he said it would make his job of revitalizing Hell's landscape much easier. Next to her on the balcony were her last two siblings remaining, Lilim and Cambion, the second of which had gladly stepped aside, and the first of whom was beloved my literally everyone here. Down in the courtyard, Raphael's wings were being poked by a curious Murmur who had hardly seen angel wings close up before.

Last time Kitra was here she was struggling with not crying. She was younger then, she was less experienced then, she knew less of the world. Last time she was here, making this speech for being crowned Queen because Cambion sure as heck preferred not to, he just wanted to be lazy and sleep life away. Someone had to, and she wasn't gonna force little crybaby Lilim to do it. Still, Kitra had been so scared, but she knew that she had to look strong, she had to give off the air of someone infallible because otherwise she wouldn't inspire faith from anyone. This time, though, she wasn't scared in the least. The demon queen knew very well that everyone here trusted her and believed in her, even the nobility and the peasants, Kitra turned a broken Kingdom into something strong. She would do it again.

"I know all of you are expecting me to make some big speech about duty and strength and glory and all that crap." She grinned her fanged grin as everyone's attention snapped up to her, to watch their new Queen speak once again. Somehow even though she was short and quite runty, she commanded a presence with only the power of her voice, and the invisible size of her confidence. Kitra rose her spear, Reginleif with a queenly aura. "But that's dumb. Why are e all standing around for some dumb ceremony when we could be preparing for battle?" Kitra cackled a little and let electricity ripple through her spear, making it glow brightly. "I'm back, bitches! Let's kick some Satan ass!"

When the speech was done, Kitra went with Lilim and Cambion back to the throne room, where he passed the crown to her head. "It's yours, it always was." Cambion said, stifling a yawn because he really did just sleep all the time whenever he could. "I was just warming it for you." The Demon Queen grinned, enjoying the familiar weight on her head. "We won't let our family's legacy fall!" Lilim exclaimed, hugging them both and Kitra got an uncomfortable amount of Lilimboob pushed against her face. She then turned serious. "Also, Kitty. About Raphael, he's not in the best mood. He found an arrow with his name on it, it was... it was Mizuki, wasn't it? She didn't make it on time, that was the last of her before she was taken by whatever the heck." And that put a damper on things. Kitra had been hoping that the twins could have said their goodbyes before this separation.

It almost seemed like an ill omen. Was it a mistake to leave Celeste, should she have said her goodbyes with her lover, just in case?
