Statix, Reivy

"I can't believe this is all that's left..."

Fade in, fade out. Breathe in, breathe out. Are we dead? Are we dying? What's happening? What's going to happen to us? Breathe in, breathe out. This is scary. I'm lost. I'm scared. Where are we? What's going on? Who am I? Breathe in, breathe out. In. Out.

"This one's waking up."

"We're not ready yet. Put it back to sleep."

Flashes of lights. Flashes of needles, of chrome-colored walls, of faceless figures in masks, of shadows on the wall, of so many things, so many frightening things. There was a face or two or three or a hundred. Faceless. The voices melded together. Not man, not woman, perhaps both, perhaps neither.

"This one's reacting badly! Quick! Put it back to sleep!"

Back to sleep. Lashing out. Pain. Lots of pain. Searing, burning, stinging. Some sharp, some everlasting. None felt welcome, none felt right. This was bad. Something bad was happening. Eyes open. Light. Eyes close. Dark. Breathe in, breathe out. Frozen still. Stiff. Immune. Over-sensitive. Hot, then cold. Are we going to make it? Can't think, can't feel, can't hear, can't see, can't do--can't breathe. Breathe in, breathe out. Live. Please, don't die. Not yet, not now.

--

The scene casts over a line of cells, much like those you might find in the dungeon of a Medieval castle. The walls gleamed a dull shade of rust and chrome, simple and metallic and cold, just like the rest of the building. Not a dash of color. You couldn't see it, but you could smell it: the tangy, rustic smell of blood filled the room, mixing in with an almost sickly smell like a hospital.

A long, narrow hallway ran in front of the cells, giving way just enough room for a single body to pass by them and inspect the creatures inside, the humans inside the cells. Or were they really? May be better, may be worse. It was hard to tell anymore. It only depended on your perspective of morality; but then again, morality wasn't a word they spoke around here.

"Are they waking up?" one faceless man said to another.

The other faceless nodded. "Yes, I believe they should be. Finally."

"And they're secured?"

"They should be..."

"Are they or are they not, Dr. Vanye?"

There was a pause. A beautiful, short-lasting pause that nearly echoed down the hall. "They are," the faceless one replied. The silence was broken yet again as they continued to discuss the conditions of the monsters. They didn't call them monsters. No, instead they called them Examples. Example One with the acid, Example Two with the lightning. They'd had a bit of trouble with Example two. He woke up a time or two and almost ruined one of their experiments, but they quickly silenced his thrashing. He didn't seem too bothered by it. Example Three with the...the beings. The scientists found him hard to explain. He gave them trouble, too, but only a little. He'd confused them in his sleep, but they got through to him, just like they had the others. Example Four with the explosives and Example Five with the...oh, yes, Example Five.

"What's the condition on Example Five?" the faceless spoke again. Eyes opened from behind a cell and squinted at the man. The boy remained silent behind his bars.

"Example Five is..." Another pause. "Stable."

"Very well. Go check on the Aces."

"Yes, Mr. Voucher." The fading footsteps alerted that they were gone. Well, no, that wasn't right. One was left. Mr. Voucher. He held onto the bars and took a look inside, snapping his fingers at the eyes staring back at him. Were they lifeless? Were they shining? He was here to find out. A sly smirk crept up his face and he snapped his fingers once again.

There was a fizzling sound, followed by a flash of light. The one in the cell fell over with a shout of pain and confusion. The one in the cell gasped for breath, eyes wide. Breathe in, breathe out. Hyperventilating. The one in the cell's eyes darted from one corner to the next. The surroundings were simple, but why did he feel like he'd been thrown into chaos? He tasted blood. He felt sticky and unclean. He felt sick. He was going to be sick. His heart-beat rose dramatically and the one in the cell pushed himself to his feet. Again, there was a flash of light and, again, he fell to his knees with a cry of pain.

"Feel better?" Mr. Voucher asked, a hint of amusement in his tone.

His response was a growl, followed by heaving breathing and another look around the room. He got to his feet, but was smart enough not to try the electricity again. "Wha..." His voice was raspier, different than he could remember. He shook his head. A nightmare? An illusion? Was this what it was like on the outside? Was he even outside--or was he in Hell? "Wh..."

Mr. Voucher flipped through a clipboard in his hands, stopping on the second page in and glancing over it. It was obvious he was only doing for show, however. He had every word memorized. "Example Two: Caine Connor Taylor. Abilities: control of electricity. Status: Dangerous." Mr. Voucher raised an eyebrow, looking up at the boy inside the cell. "You don't look very dangerous."

Statix replied with a growl, but he refused to move from his position. "What's going on?" he asked lowly, still getting used to his vocal chords. He had so many more questions, but he was smart enough to know to ask only the important ones. "How did I get here?"

"Clever boy," Mr. Voucher said with a cool smile. "You and your...whatever you call them have all been given the proper care and treatment they need. As you can see, we have done nothing to you. After the incident--"

"Timeless?"

Mr. Voucher chuckled. "If that's what you call it, yes. After 'Timeless,' my associates brought you and the others here to be taken care of. Your wounds have been treated and you've all been kept careful watch of. Wouldn't want your confusion to take over and take us out with those nasty powers of yours." He grinned. "I'm sure you have many questions, Caine, but unfortunately, I don't have time for that. See, I'm a man of curiosity. You can call me Mr. Voucher. I enjoy setting things up and seeing how they play out. Like dominoes, really."

"Get to the point," Statix growled out. This man had him in a cell with chains over his wrists and behind his back. This was not a trustworthy man at all.

"Patience," Mr. Voucher tutted. But he continued. "I'm not here to keep you locked up in a cage. I'll get right to the chase. You've been in here for three months now. You and the others have undergone experimental procedures. And those cuffs on your wrists are intended to use your powers against you whenever you attempt to use them against us. Us, being the staff here at Tech."

Three...months? He'd been out of Timeless for three whole months now? Statix blinked widely, finding all this very hard to believe, nonetheless to take in. "Let me out!" he shouted, trying to focus, trying to concentrate on the matter at hand. He was trapped. He needed to get free. Once he was free, he would be able to think everything through.

Mr. Voucher merely smiled and turned away from the cell, his footsteps echoing down the hall as his figure swiftly went out of sight. Statix felt his pulse rising again. He went to the front of the cell. "Let me out! Get back here!" he shouted and shouted and kicked the bars a few times, but it was useless. Just as he was out of breath and ready to give up, closing his eyes and ready to figure a way out, a sound of feet padding against the ground brought his attention back to the situation around him. He'd just opened his eyes when the bars to his cell doors broke off and clanked on the ground. Looking up, he saw the retreating form of someone as they took off down the narrow hallway. The sound of the bars of the other cells followed shortly after one another.

"What..."

"You there! Remain where you are!" Another faceless man stepped into Statix's cell, clearing the way for the many other faceless figures behind him to continue, chasing after the figure that'd set him free no doubt. The man held up a taser. He was shaking badly. It was obvious he hadn't been on this 'security' job very long.

Statix used that fear to feed his own confidence. Example Two: Caine Connor Taylor. He took a calm step forward, making the man's eyes widen and take a step back, holding out the taser even more. He tested his hands, letting a shock spark off of them and flinching when the cuffs around his wrists shot the spark back into him in a different, more painful, form. Abilities: control of electricity. He looked back up at the man, clearly unhappy with this turn of events. The man shot his hand out and set the taser on the otherwise defenseless boy. Nothing happened. Statix grinned. In a moment of pain, shouts, and the inevitable sound of a manā€™s skull cracking against chrome walls, Statix walked away from his cell. Status: dangerous.

As he passed by the other cells, he took note that they were all opened in the same fashion as his had been: melted. Someone had run their hands along the bars of each cell as they ran down the hall. Statix frowned at the blond-haired figure still inside, clueless, unconscious; although, by the sounds he was making, it was easy to tell that he wouldnā€™t be unconscious for very much longer.

Without another thought about it, Statix continued on through the halls. He needed to find a way out. He needed to find a way out right now.

--

Reivy Soren had no idea what was going on. He was running and panting and lost. A quick glance behind him was all the reminder he needed to keep going, though. He fell well-rested, in a way, healthier even. The pain in his shoulder was gone and so was the one in his chest. There was a throbbing in his head and a stiffness in his bones, as if he hadnā€™t used them for a while, but he felt otherwise better. What happened?

Letā€™s recap for a moment.

Rei woke up in a cell. The door had been closed and the spacing was cramped, his hands had been bound, and he was alone. He wasnā€™t in Timeless--that much he knew for sure. What he found out quickly after was that he wasnā€™t in a dream. Heā€™d walked to the front of the cell door and started yelling for someone to get their ass over there and let him out before he cut out their insides and fed them to him. Inwardly, heā€™d been freaking out. Outwardly, heā€™d...well, heā€™d still been freaking out.

A man came over to him and told him to shut his mouth. The man called his Example One, whatever that meant. Luckily for him, the bounds on his hands werenā€™t acid proof; unluckily for the security guard, his fat face wasnā€™t fist proof. With the guy out, Rei took it upon himself to let himself out and not a minute later was it that heā€™d found the cells where the others were. Cyrus, Nikolas, and Statix. He made no note that Katie hadnā€™t been in any of them. Heā€™d long ago stopped looking out for her.

Heā€™d been in the process of trying to figure out a way to get them free, when heā€™d turned around and set off some sort of silent alarm. Turns out, heā€™d missed the security camera watching his whole show. The security was on him like ants to a picnic table--including the ones watching all the other cells. So, with nothing else in mind, he ran. He ran straight past the cells, hand outstretched and acid leaking holes through the bars as the security guards chased after him.

He had to admit, it was kind of fun. Rei couldnā€™t help himself but to laugh the entire time it was happening. Not because he confused or lost or in the middle of chaos, but because the ones chasing him were real people. Not only that, they were adults. Adults! Over the age of eighteen! That told him he was definitely not in Timeless anymore. This... This was the real world, baby.

Taking another turn around the bend, he quickly ducked down a shallow, shaded-over hall. The mob of security cluelessly ran straight past him. With a sigh of relief, he headed back down towards the hall of cells. He dully noted the absence of a certain Sparky jerk, but couldnā€™t care less. The only reason he even let the electrified freak out was because he didnā€™t have time to think about it. Now, he stood in front of the cell Cyrus was in, peering inside at the blond. ā€œCyrus! Get up, now. Hurry.ā€ He frowned, standing hesitantly outside the door. ā€œCyrus?ā€

--

Meanwhile, the ā€˜Aces,ā€™ as the leader of the incorporation referred to the new experiments as, were just being woken up. Dr. Vanye walked back and fourth along their cells, running her pen along the doors. They should be waking up soon enough and when they all did, sheā€™d give them their next list of instructions, as well as a briefing of their situation. Or maybe she wouldnā€™t tell them a single thing at all.

Pain...it controlled him. Where was he? Why was he there?

...Who was he?...

He knew nothing anymore. Through the pain, he felt something. Hands...? Yes...

Who was it? They weren't hurting him...they were holding him. But who were they? Why were they...comforting? He could hear them saying something...

...Zuka.

No. That wasn't it.

Tezu...Tezuka. Was that...his name? He couldn't remember. Maybe it was. Why couldn't he remember? It was infuriating. Finally, he forced his eyes open. Even the non-existing light wherever they were caused his eyes to feel as if they were about to explode. But it was enough agony to make him suddenly remember. It was his brother Takuya who was with him. He was Tezuka. He remembered all the men around them.

The tables. The tubes. The needles in their eyes.

What had been done to them? Why couldn't he remember anything before the lab and experiments? Why?!

"Tezuka! Calm down! Please, we're all right now...just close your eyes...you'll feel better soon. I promise."

His brother's voice penetrated his thoughts. "Ta...Taku...ya?" He felt a hand grasp his as he shut his eyes tightly, trying to block out the pain.

"Yeah, I'm here, bro...you're going to be alright. Just sleep, okay?" He didn't want to. Why would he want to go back to that impenetrable darkness? But maybe it would make some of the pain go away...

Rai Hill

Click click click

What the- incessant noise. Rai's eyes opened. Blink. Blink again. His head was full of the constant sound, moving closer then farther.
click click click

Too quiet to be shoes, too loud to be a computer, and it was moving. As the sticky dregs of sleep dripped from the boy's eyes, that which rendered him momentarily sightless, Rai took in his current condition. Light was streaming in from behind him. The clicking was coming from out there. The pale boy rubbed his face, his mouth opening, stretching, undulating in a soundless yawn.

Click Click
Louder again, coming closer. The sound was akin to bees droning in annoyance level. Perhaps higher. Rai's back arched as he stretched as much as he could in the cramped quarters he'd woken in. And that brought his mind, which was being dragged down by the alluring temptation that was the foggy swamp of sleep he'd only just emerged from, to the next question.

What in the hell was he doing here?

But that clicking was getting inside his head, which was more than irritating. Rai's head was his private place. For him alone. Nothing else was allowed to gain entry with out his permission. And never never would he ever allow such a thing to get into his mind and bounce around like that. So Rai sat and fumed for a moment, battling with the sound, trying to evict it from his thoughts. Which, of course, only heightened the annoyance's presence in his head. That hadn't worked out quite right.

But Rai'd rather not focus on such a thing. He needed to investigate this sound, make it stop. Unless it was something interesting. Or something to add to his collection. Of course, he'd have to silence it first, but then it was free game.

Rai's round pale face pressed against the bars, his hair hanging in his face. He blinked a couple more times, his vision still a bit foggy. He wasn't much of a morning person. Mornings were stupid. If this was morning. He couldn't really tell. But that didn't much matter at the moment. The ice cold bar did help to wake him up a bit though, sending a jolt to his brain. One that added to the cacophony that was already bubbling there.

Click click click...Oh this is cold. I should move my face away. Hey, who is that? Are there others here? I hope I'm alone, wherever this is. God I'm tired. Where am I? Heyy, you over there, I'd like to know where the hell I ah-m. And why I'm here too.

He thought sardonically. Huh, even if he could speak the words floating in his brain, he certainly wouldn't say anything like that. Rai's short slender fingers wrapped around a bar, tightening until his knuckles were sheet-white. He shivered slightly, his tongue flicking out to swipe his lips. One could call it a nervous habit, but Rai was never nervous. Not at all. His left hand was uncurled from the bar. His king finger, front and center, was lifted to his mouth. He nibbled at the rough skin there. It was calloused from years and years of nibbling, biting until it bled.

Rai sighed a silent sigh as he pulled back from the bars after a long look at the person in the hall. The one with the clicking noise. The person who's back had been turned to him, so he couldn't get a good look at the face. It was just a pen. Well damn. That wasn't all that interesting. Now, if that pen had a spring, that was interesting, but it seemed a bit to risky to attempt at the moment. Rai didn't want to risk anything. His own safety was the most vital part of his life. Of life in general, really.

The boy adjusted his body, folding himself cross-legged, elbows on knees and nose pressed against the bars. Something of more interest was bound to happen. Rai would have to be patient. One of his many stunning skills. One hand was occupied with his mouth, and the other drummed against the bars. He couldn't ask, so he'd have to wait.

This was one of those times when Rai actually wished for another person. Someone who'd wait on him, mostly. That way he wouldn't have to exercise his patience, which was strong enough as it was, thank you very much. Another silent sigh tugged at the air in an output of bored emotion. His head was beginning to throb painfully, his body catching up to whatever had gone on since the last time he'd gone to sleep. Speaking of that, what had happened? God, going in circles.

Stop going in circles. He commanded his mind. It obeyed, for a moment, before continuing its laborious buzz. Then it started up with the focusing on the clicking again. Which was so loud in his mind that he couldn't tell if it was only there or outside too.

Augh! Shut up with the clicking!

Now his own brain was turning against him. Was it amused? Wait, no, it wasn't clicking. Just throbbing rhythmically. Oh. Well.

That did not happen. There were no witnesses. Nothing to see, keep on going.

Back to waiting.

How did the sound of clicking sound like his own brain throbbing? Augh. Questions. They were produced by his brain to make it ache more. Huh, sadistic bit of matter, wasn't it. Rai moved from his king finger to his pawn finger, the littlest. It was a good thing he wasn't nearly as masochistic as his mind was getting to be, wasn't it? Although...

No. Just shut up with the although already. Rai's face was now screwed up in a strange smirk as he had an internal conversation with himself. Which was the only type of conversation he could have, really. Just him and his brain.

Me, myself, and I.

What joy.

Katie Rose

Katie barely kept her eyes open while lying on the ground, back to the car she was thrown against by Statix. And I thought me and him could be something.. Katie thought, looking at Statix, and then at Nik. ā€œHope I donā€™t see you soon Nikā€¦ā€ Katie said as she coughed up more blood, basically implying that she didnā€™t want him to die, since she was obviously dying and was going to die, die in Timeless, Now I die in a way which is like shit, man, I rather have been killed in combat, head-on. Not by surprise. Katie kept thinking to herself.

As Katie finally closed her eyes, last thing seeing was Nik walking away, images and replies appeared before her; Her getting sent into a car, betraying people, Alyssa dying, and multiple stuff, but not her whole live flashed before her eyes, she might not be dead after allā€¦

After the barrier of Timeless came down, no more than a couple hours to be specific, government officials, scientists and doctors went through the city, searching for anything, and any more power children. As they looked, they only found one, Katie. Almost lifeless, they basically picked her up and sent her to Tech, knowing she had to have had some sort of power, along with the others.

As they got her to Tech, they were actually able to revive her, and keep her alive for the couple months that she was in a coma for, replacing her spine with mechanical parts, and pulling shrapnel out of her arms and hands from explosions caused by Nik.

While in her coma, the scientists couldnā€™t find much on her, since the long time in Timeless, her name was out of the data base, so they didn't have anything to really call her except her and she, and the occasional ā€œit.ā€ Also along with this, not many other experiments, children, were really allowed even near the room that Katie was in, the people of Tech were too paranoid of what she possibly could do.

Katie opened her eyes, seeing a bright yellow light in her eyes. ā€œIs this death?ā€ She said out loud, as she sat up, and noticing something tugging on her arm, tubes and wires, monitoring her health into a computer. ā€œNope, but what is this place? A dream? No, this has to beā€¦ā€ Katie stopped talking as she stood up, and pulling the stuff out of her arms. ā€œThereā€™s no way, Iā€™m out of Timelessā€¦ā€ She kept on talking then looking around the room and seeing an open dresser, with her clothes, which were clean. Then how the fuck am I alive, or atleast moving? Katie thought as took off the plain white gown she was wearing and put the clothes that were in the dresser on and checked herself in the mirror.

Then as Katie turned around she realized there was a computer with a page brought up. ā€œLetā€™s see what it says.ā€ Katie said as she read the page. Codename: Example Five. Real Name: Katie Aloise Rose. Powers: Unknown. Status: Stable. Surgeries: Spine disc replacement- Right then as Katie read what it said on the screen a replay of what happened went through her head, her being sent through the air by a shockwave and hitting a car, severely hurting her back. Katie stumbled back and knocked over more than a few things before falling back into the bed, and it ending. ā€œWhy did that just happenā€¦ā€ Katie though to herself.

Just lying there, Katie began to remember and think about all in Timeless. ā€œHow? How am I out of Timeless, and what about Nik, Rei, Cyrus-ā€œ Katie stopped for a second, ā€œStatixā€¦ā€ Katie said as her tone changed into a more pissed off angry sounding one. Katie turned her hand into a stone block and punched the wall, which was actually solid steel so it didnā€™t do much damage but did show some. Hmm, I guess they donā€™t know this power, which could helpā€¦ Katie thought as she sat up and had the idea of escaping, not wanting to stay in this place whatever it was anymore, she felt like a lab rat, and a she quickly came up with an idea.

Katie stood still after standing up. She was worried and scared, but not about getting stopped to hurt, but about her power, electricity, due to it having somewhat a cause of her ā€œdeath.ā€ But she tried to put that to side as she began her escape. First off she quickly smirked into the camera at the corner of her room before shooting it with a shock, and temporally disabling it, and then walking to the door. Hmm, thereā€™s no why I could hack this, but I could hammer itā€¦ Katie said as she turned her hand into a pretty big hammer and started smashing the control panel, but then the sparks burning her.
ā€œOw!ā€ Katie knew this was probably going to happen, but didn't expect it to hurt. ā€œProbably from the damn stuff in my spineā€¦ā€ Katie said as she quickly hopped into the dresser and waited for any guards to come in, but did it right in time before the camera came back on. Her plan was pretty basic, the only way to open the door now was for them to break it down, and then Katie would come out and attack, and make her great escape.

It wasnā€™t too long before Katie heard the door bust down, and words between the guards, luckily there was a small hole which Katie could look through, waiting for the right moment to attack. Once all the guards got in the room, Katie turned into a small insect and flew outside the door and into the hallway, behind the guards and turned back. ā€œShocking right?ā€ She said as she raised both palms facing the guards and electrocuted them, not knowing if she killed them or just paralyzed them, and also electrifying the computer by accident and destroying it. She then took off down the hallway.

As Katie continued off, an alarm went off, but from the others escaing, this also alowed security to be not as much in her area. But still a couple guards came around the corner, but Katie easily turned into a rhino ripping through them, sending one down another hallway. As she switched back into her normal self, she felt blood coming down her arm; she actually had been cut somehow. Right then Katie heard voices from the hallway she had launched one of the guards down, and instead of waiting, Katie took off around the corner and conveniently, ran into an emergency escape, to the roof and climbed it up, before whoever the voices were saw her. But she didn't know it was actually them from Timeless.

As Katie got to the rooftop, she looked around to see what type of place she was in, and man was it big. Big enough to stay and not get caught, just got to blend itā€¦ Katie thought as a flock of birds flew overhead, and Katie turning into a bird and joining them. Freedom, sweet freedom. But still, how the hell am I alive?

Sasha woke up with start, she was laying down in what felt like a hospital bed and had a oxygen mask over her mouth.

"Dammit what the hell is going on", she said as she tried to sit up, that when she felt the restraints holding her down on the bed. She glanced from one side of the dark room to the other. The only thing she could make out was that there were others in the same boat as she, to her right there appeared to be two guys, with masses of tubes and wires attached to them just as she was.

She began to struggle that when a shadowy figure came, Aww shame shame someone is awake said the voice in the dark. "Here lets go back to sleep now shall we", the figure pulled out a syringe and stuck it ruffly into Sasha's arm.

"Ow! dammit you asshole just wait until I... I....", her voice drew out and slurred as her eyes slowly closed and she fell back to sleep again.

She soon began to dream about being snatched up and feeling like someone was experiments on her. She kept running and she kept getting caught and no matter how hard she screamed nothing would come out. As Sasha laid there on the bed tears began to stream down her face, and the shadowy figure stroked her hair, "Aww there there, when we're done with you; you'll be better than ever you'll see".

Kiku Suzuki

Thudā€¦.thudā€¦.thudā€¦.

Noā€¦stop itā€¦where are they? Give them back, that hurts meā€¦

Thudā€¦thudā€¦.thudā€¦.thudā€¦throb

I said give them back. Please, I'm begging you. This hurtsā€¦so stop

clickā€¦clickā€¦a flash of painā€¦throbā€¦throbā€¦

I said it hurts leave me alone! Please, let me go back home. I miss my family! Let me go back!

Wake up Kiku, they want you up A nagging voice called to him.

Poundingā€¦thatā€™s what it felt like. Someone was pounding his skull in. Internally smashing at his head with a hammer and slicing it open. It hurt. Kiku wanted to cry. But he woke up none the less and blindly searched for his headphones on the floor, resulting in him almost falling off the bed.

With a low groan, that sounded at least 10x louder to him then it actually was, Kikuā€™s hand touched the band of his headphones and quickly he wrapped his long, feminine fingers around it, slowly bringing his arm up to him, his other hand grabbing the other side of the headphones and fitting them across his head, firmly planted on his ears.

Betterā€¦so much better Kiku thought with a sigh, the pounding reduced to a dull throb, and the massive and overwhelming sounds muffled to a normal level.

He laid in his ā€˜bedā€™, a yawn opening his mouth and stretching it widely, his eyes closing in reflex. He cringed slightly at the pain that flashed through his cheek and gingerly touched the wound. It was still new to being a scar and would sometimes crack, blood dripping down his face from the depth of the injury. When his hand came back tinted with red spot, Kiku repressed a sigh, debating if he wanted to get up or not. Soon after he felt the feeling of the blood running down his cheek and heard the muffled sound of the blood hitting the limp and dirty pillow.

The thin and raggedy covers clung to his thin body, trying desperately to keep his body warm, though it was no avail. A shiver racked through Kikuā€™s frail, malnourished body. He needed to get out of here. Soon.

The door to his bedroom/cell/medical room opened and one of the doctors walked in, slightly taken aback at seeing Kiku sitting up and staring right at him.

ā€œIā€¦umā€¦wellā€¦ā€ the scientist looked behind him and closed the door. He was new, not even over the age of 25, by what Kiku could guess, ā€œYou shouldnā€™t be up.ā€ he whispered.

Kiku regarded him with blank eyes, unimpressed. He could care less what he should be doing. If going against the rules got him killed, he would be more than happy to break any and every rule to do so.

ā€œThen kill me.ā€ he blurted out, his voice cracking from lack of use, desperation lacing his words.

The young scientist said nothing, wide brown eyes staring at Kiku in shock. Apparently he was the only patient who rather die than get out of here. Not that surprising.

Not that Kiku didnā€™t want to escape. He truly did. And go back to his family and forget this even happened. Yet the chances of him escaping without dying were slim, so Kiku never let himself think about it too long, or he would try and kill himself, again. Or another wave of depression would hit him full force and the doctors would have to put him under for who knows how long. Again.

ā€œDid you hear what I said?ā€ Kiku lowly snarled, annoyed by the silence, ā€œKill me if I should be up. Or leave me alone.ā€ His face showed no emotion, no anger or sorrow. No pain or depression. It was all in his head. And that was never a good thing.

When no sound came from the suddenly mute being Kiku closed his eyes and took a slow, deep breath. When he opened them, the doctor was gone. Whether he was real, or a figment of Kikuā€™s mind, he didnā€™t know.

A sharp wave of pain washed over him, causing him to gasp out loud, hands reaching out to clutch his head in momentary pain. As quickly as it had come, the pain vanished. Yet Kiku knew it would be back if he didnā€™t do anything.

Reluctantly his thin hands gripped the headphones and pulled them down to hang around his neck. He hissed in pain, the sounds too overpowering and Kiku almost tugged the headphones back on to relieve himself of the pain. Almost. Instead he peeled his eyes open, which had forcefully closed at the amount of pain that pounding in his head, and concentrated on the sounds around him.

His head was pounding and tears welled up in the corners of his eyes, but Kiku knew it had to be done, or he would be driven to insanity at the pain of not using his powers.

His super sensitive ears slowly got used to the sounds, while he head pounded on. Eyes glazed over and one by one Kiku was able to see the sound waves that passed through his room. They flowed around him, and if he was gentle enough he was able to pluck each and every one of them, all other sounds fading as he was able to focus on that one particular noise.

In time he was able to close his eyes and pluck out different sound waves without looking, the movement becoming 2nd nature to him, lulling him into a half sleep.

A disturbing laughā€¦a call of a nameā€¦the click of heelsā€¦soft voices of the high upsā€¦.a yellā€¦the high pitched sound of an alarmā€¦louder voicesā€¦worriedā€¦scaredā€¦.a door fallingā€¦a whisper of clothā€¦

Kiku frowned, not understanding what was going on. It sounded like a big deal, with all the thumping of the guards were doing and the hurried footsteps ofā€¦someone else. Fingers reached out to touch another set of sound waves, letting the other noises vanish as his mind focused on what was going onā€¦.

A shoutā€¦Tezukaā€¦a nameā€¦shuffling of sheetsā€¦a low growlā€¦a shoutā€¦muffled cursesā€¦nothingā€¦

Kiku fell back against his pillows, barely able to stay awake. His head didnā€™t hurt, even without the headphones, but he tugged them back on anyway, knowing the sharp pounding of pain would resurface sooner than later. His eyelids felt heavy and his whole body was exhausted, but Kiku fought the beckoning sleep called to him, knowing he was never going to get stronger if he fell asleep every time he used his powers.

So, instead Kiku just laid there, eyes closed, headphones resting on his ears to prevent the loud noises from hurting his brain anymore than it was going to.

Nikolas Ze

He didn't know what was going on. All he knew was that his head hurt and that his entire body was sore, like someone had opened him up to take a peek at what lay inside. But, above all else, his head hurt. Where am I? Am I in Timeless? He wasn't sure. He didn't think there were any buildings solely made out of metal, with sounds echoing through the halls like some kind of horror movie, but he could be wrong. How long had he spent in Timeless? Too long. Still, that didn't mean he knew the whole place inside and out. Wincing as he sat up, Nikolas blinked slowly, eyes slowly adjusting to the dimly lit... Cage. Yes, that was all you could call it. A cage. Why did he feel like he was just asleep? Like some kind of Sleeping Beauty, waking up after a year or two of sleep. I want to go back to sleep. I want to die. Nikolas looked around the room, eyes drifting over the darkness. There wasn't anything else in the place, just the floor and four walls. And a door, but that was locked. Not like Nikolas checked, but why would it be open? Besides, checking it would require moving, and Nikolas didn't feel like doing that. He yawned. Maybe he'd get some more sleep...?

"You never feel like doing anything, brother." Nikolas felt his closing eyes flash open, darting around the room frantically. In the far corner, a small blond sat, curled up in a ball. His clothes were filthy, and his hands clutched at a small stuffed bear. His eyes were closed, but his mouth was upturned in an evil smirk, sending a shiver down Nikolas's spine. "You do only what is best for you... That's why I'm dead." Nikolas shook his head, a small noise of protest leaving his mouth. His brother stood, opening his eyes. They were glazed over with a milky white, and his mouth was sown shut. He walked over to Nikolas, and now the older could smell the smoke on the body, see the charred clothes. "You killed me, brother. You left me to die."

"No!" Nikolas shoved himself farther back against the wall, covering his ears with his hands (which was somewhat awkward, because his hands were cuffed together) and shutting his eyes, shaking his head like a small child hearing bad news. "You're not real! I know what happened to you! I'm sorry! It's all my fault!" His head jerked back up when he heard the sound of something hissing, but the ghost was gone and Nikolas couldn't tell where it was coming from. He let out a gasp as the wall with the door suddenly opened, standing up slowly and walking over to the opening. It couldn't be possible, but it was the same exact acid that Rei used. Did that mean Rei just let him out? Nikolas didn't like that idea, actually, and shivered. But no, it was Rei, and he was getting chased by a horde of security guards. Guards who, Nikolas realized with shock, were over 18. We're out of Timeless... But what is going on? Nikolas glanced around as the guards took off, probably running after that idiot, Rei. Nikolas stuck his head outside of the hole in the wall, and slowly left the small cell. It might have been as comfortable as a rock, but at least no one could sneak up on him in there.

"Remember, you're useless. The others might put their trust in you, but I know where that got me." Nikolas turned to look back in the cell, not realizing Rei was back and trying to get Cyrus out of the cell. Nikolas's eyes went wide and he felt the air leave him. "K... Katie?" The girl smirked at him, walking forward with her confident sway. She looked fine... Perfectly normal and in great condition. "Yep. Alive and well, no thanks to you." Her words stung like a slap to the face, but Nikolas couldn't help but feel like he deserved it. He gulped, stepping half into the cell again, one arm out to try to grab her with his hands. His hands went right through her, and she disappeared in a puff of gray and white smoke. "You can't do anything right. Remember that." Nikolas grit his teeth and shook his head, stepping back out of the cell. He almost walked over to Rei, before deciding to give him some space with Cyrus.

I need to get these cuffs off, Nikolas decided as he looked at them. He could always blow them up, but they were too tight and he didn't want to risk cutting a vein in his wrist. I'll ask Rei to do it, Nikolas decided. If he'll do anything for a looser like me. Nikolas doubted it, but you never knew with someone like Rei. Besides, they had more important things to do, Nikolas realized as he heard the sound of boots hitting the metal floors. Guards. They needed to get moving, and fast. Nikolas glanced over at Rei and raised a hesitant eyebrow. Are you going to do anything?

Airm Fola

It was easy to say that he was easily amused, but he wasn't. No, he was only amused when someone happened to be in pain, especially physical pain, even if that person happened to be him. With no one else being in his cell (thing... He wasn't sure what to call it) he had no entertainment. And considering he was both a sadist and a masochist, he had to find something to do soon... Besides, he was curious about where he was. It certainly wasn't Ireland. Something about the place told him that. No, did that mean he was in England? But why did he feel like he had been asleep for much longer than that? And why did his whole body seem to ache...? He blinked his eyes slowly, trying to figure out where he was with his single working eye. Now that... That was one of the few experiments that had gone horribly wrong. After all, despite what the other children had said, he didn't want to become blind in that eye. He just wanted to see what it felt like. And damn, it felt good... For the first part. After the blood really started pouring it hurt more and more, but now it only hurt on bad days. Even then it was a dull throb, like a bruise over a joint.

"Where am I?" Airm asked to the walls, Irish accent bouncing around the echoing room. If he was in America, his accent would be a dead giveaway, in the hope that he escaped to freedom. Then again, if I meet anyone they might fall for it... Airm smiled darkly to himself. He could always use it to his advantage, if he was in America. If he was in England then he'd have to do his best to leave... Of course he wouldn't want to go back to Ireland, so where else could he go? Either way, it seemed like Airm's path would lead him to America. "Well, there are worse places to go," Airm muttered. He slowly stood, looking around the room for something to help him escape. Like he thought, nothing. "Oy, this is weird..." They had left him his silver dagger. If they were expecting to keep him under lock and key, they were doing a pretty rubbish job about it. He pulled it out of his belt, examining the blade curiously. This could be fun, he thought as he flipped it around, so the blade was facing him.

"What are you doing awake?!" A man suddenly shouted, the door opening. Airm spun around as two strong hands grabbed him, making him drop the dagger. Airm let out a noise of protest, but the air was let out of him as he was kneed in the stomach. He was shoved into the nearest solid surface (a table that was bolted to the ground) and he felt himself start to panic as his hands were tied behind his back. Ok, this has gone on long enough, Airm thought, forcing himself to remain calm. He lashed out with his legs, kicking at someone's knee. He was released, but almost immediately fell to the ground, arms tied behind his back. He hit his head on the floor and saw stars. "Get him under, now!" A man, the one from earlier, shouted. Airm didn't have enough strength (or presence of mind) to fight back as he was latched onto the table, a needle jabbed into his arm.

"Get the fuck off me!" Airm shouted as he felt his limbs stop responding to him. The scientists (four in total; one of which stood off to the side with a clipboard) ignored him. With a jolt of fear, Airm realized the needle only stopped him from moving, and didn't take the pain away. He learned this when one of them prodded him with a silver scalpel. Airm was all one for a little pain, but he did not like being restrained or unable to move. That was crossing the line in his head (which was already far enough). And this was definitely past his comfort level. "What the bloody hell are you doing?!" Airm screamed at the scientists as one of them cut into his knee. It wasn't very deep, but he was starting to panic. Despite his best attempts to calm down, he could feel his heart beat faster and faster.

"First test on the success level. Commence shot now." Shot? That either meant they were going to shoot him, or they were going to stick another needle in. When one of the scientists pulled out a needle with some suspicious looking golden-brown stuff in it, Airm decided that this was not going to be fun. "I would stop protesting... If this does not go in right, then you might die." Yes, because that was certainly going to get him to calm down. Airm bit his lip as the needle was slowly extended into the cut. I wish I could kill you all... Then I'd be laughing at your pain, Airm thought. It didn't hurt as much as he feared, but the liquid did not raise his hopes. "We'll return at 1000 hours to see if subject has reacted positively to shot." With that, the bonds were released and the scientists left, Airm still unable to move from the table.

"Damn them... Americans..."

Cyrus Zervais

ā€œIt's over, Cyrus! It's all over!ā€

Cyrus returned Reiā€™s happiness with a smile, blinking a few times when Rei gently titled his face up to allow the two of them to stare into each otherā€™s eyes. Cyrus raised an arm to wipe away the tears clinging to his face when Reiā€™s lips softly locked with his in a kiss. A strange feeling, one which Cyrus had not experienced before but it made him happy. Though it was shortly lived before Rei was pulled away and a flash of electricity forced its way through the boy in front. Cyrus opened his mouth to scream but it was too late; a large amount of electrical current raced through his body. Cyrus fell to the floor unconscious, the last thing he saw was a group of people in suits standing around them, watching them until every last survivor was down.

They worked so hard to be free and now they had to pay the price.

ā€œCyru-ā€

The blonde opened his eyes momentarily, seeing what looked to be Ghost standing in front of him, leaning down and staring at the boy. It was only for a split second though as Cyrus quickly drifted back into the realm of unconsciousness. Something didnā€™t feel right though, perhaps it was the coldness of the floor at his touch, or perhaps it was the voice of Ghost in such a distressed state; none of that mattered now, he could not find the strength to stay awake.

ā€œCyrus!ā€

Again it came, though the time between the two shouts was unknown. It could have been hours, days or weeks. The blonde slowly opened his eyes, catching a glance at the face of Ghost in front, the frightened and desperate look of his double. Cyrus managed to notice a few unknown figures standing just behind Ghost; men and women dressed in white lab coats and wielding something shiny in their hands. Within a flash the needle was plunged into Cyrusā€™ neck; everything blurred into one and the blondeā€™s head fell back onto the cold floor.

Cyrus awoke this time to the sound of alarms and people rushing down hallways. His eyes snapped open, his mind still slightly groggy with the sleeping drug still in his system. The first thing he noticed was the bars in front, melted and deformed, leaving a clear exit. The next thing was his surroundings, the chrome walls and cells which were adjacent to his own, also with the bars melted. Slowly Cyrus lifted his head and body from the floor, attempting to bring a hand to his head but the restrains on his wrist limited most movement. Cyrus could do nothing but crawl back and lean against the wall, confused and scared but what was going on. They were free, they earned their freedom from Timeless, so why now were they locked up in a prison? Cyrus began to sob, pulling his knees up to his chest and burying his head in them.

ā€œGhost?ā€ Cyrus wailed, hoping that the other was okay. His sobbing ceased for a moment as he realized something else; Rei wasnā€™t here. ā€œRei?!ā€ Cyrus yelled out, lifting his head up and hoping to see the other in front of him. Nothing. The blonde burst out into tears, shoving his head back between his legs. He was alone, all alone with no one to protect him. The thought of it made Cyrus shake from fear, he began hyperventilating; ragged and sharp breaths taken -- he was going to die, die here alone.

ā€œ Cyrus! Get up, now. Hurry.ā€ The voice sounded like Reiā€™s but the blonde knew that was impossible. Rei was not here to save him this time, no one was here. All alone. ā€œCyrus?ā€ Cyrus managed to muster the courage to lift his head up and to his surprise he found Rei standing there. The blonde immediately tried running towards the other but only managed to get half way before the restrains grounded him. Cyrus wailed at the grazes on his hands and knees now, a small amount of blood staining through his clothes. He felt himself being helped up by someone, though the person he turned around to greet was not Rei, but Ghost. The clone brushed his original down, sighing under his breath as he noticed the small wounds on Cyrus. He couldnā€™t do nothing about them now so he turned his attention on Rei, placing both hands on his hips and narrowing his eyes at the other.

ā€œTook you long enough,ā€ Ghost snarled. ā€œI donā€™t suppose you know whatā€™s going on?ā€ he glanced around and noticed the deformed bars. Seeing this made Ghostā€™s expression soften just slightly, a smile present on his face as he turned back to Rei. ā€œWell then,ā€ Ghost paused as he glanced beside him at the crying blonde. ā€œI give you permission to get these restrains off Cyrus,ā€ Ghost smirked a little, though he meant nothing bad by it, it was more of a friendly smirk. ā€œThen we need to get out of here before those scientists return.ā€ Suddenly Ghost tensed up as he heard footsteps, he moved to the side to grab Cyrus but stopped when he noticed it was just Nikolas. He regarded the other with a confused look, it was possible that everyone was brought here when they escaped Timeless but the thought never occurred to Ghost. He had not witnessed what happened, only appeared to Cyrus as the boy attempted to regain consciousness in the cell.

ā€œLooks like everyone is here apart from Statix,ā€ Ghost said as he glanced back over to Rei. ā€œRelease Cyrus and let's get out of here.ā€

Katie Rose

As Katie flew she began to think about the others, Nik, Rei, Cyrus, and Statix, mostly caring about her brother Nik, but also about Rei and Statix, she had unfinished business with them. Rei would probably stick with Cyrus, if I know him a slightest at all, but that also means Ghost, which can be annoying sometimes. And Statix, heā€™ll definitely be on his own, unless heā€™s commanding minions to do all his dirty work. By the time Katie realized where she was, she was on the outskirts of the town, but then spotted a nice abandoned looking hotel building that still looked pretty nice, so Katie quickly departed from the flock of birds, and descended down to the building, landing on the building in a swiftly manner.

After the landed, she turned back into her normal self, and walking to the edge of the rooftop, looking outward. Hmm, hotels, flashy lights, and some casinos, ha, I know where we areā€¦ Katie thought as a smirk came across her face. ā€œViva La Vegaā€¦ā€ Katie said, finishing her thoughts outloud. Might be a bad idea to stay close to where I was captured, but itā€™s Vegas, tons a people, and easy to hide, Iā€™ll probably stay. Katie continued to think as she turned around looking across the rooftop, seeing if there was anything useful.

There were only little supplies on the rooftop; a nice looking sling bag, that actually matched her outfit, and a masquerade mask, there was other stuff, but Katie didn't want it. Katie took only the bag and the mask, putting the mask in the bag, and putting the bag over her shoulder. After picking up the stuff, Katie walked to a door that she guessed lead down into the actual building. As she got to the door, tried opening it, but it was locked from the inside. ā€œI could knock it down easily, but then anyone could come inside very easily, Iā€™ll just go under.[/i] She thought to herself as she turned into a small bug and went under the door, and then turning back into her normal self.

Walking down the stairs and entering the hallway, Katie was surprised how clean the place was, she was expecting it to be a little more like buildings in Timeless; all destroyed, rundown, and messy as hell. It still looked abandoned, but better than Timeless. Katie checked to see if any of the doors were unlocked, she was too lazy to turn into anything to get through them, luckily for lazy Katie, one was unlocked. Katie walked in after opening the door and put her bag down and went over to the dresser to see if there was anything else, same with the closet. She found exactly what she was looking for, clean linens and pillows.

These will do quiet perfectly since they are still in the package. Katie thought as she pulled them down from the top shelves of the closet and dresser, and put them on the floor next to the bed. After that Katie basically took everything off the bed and replaced it with the stuff she found, then flopping down on it. ā€œAh, been too long to actually be able to sleep in a somewhat comfortable bed.ā€ Katie let out with a yawn in the middle of having a conversation with herself. Eh, I need to get some money so I can buy some new clothes and atleast a towel so I can take a shower, I wonder if the water worksā€¦ Katie thought as she got up slowly and checked if the bathroom shower had water, and it did, but it wasnā€™t that warm. She wouldā€™ve taken one then, probably because she wouldnā€™t have had a shower in a long time, but she smelt clean, so she suspected the people at wherever she just was gave her one.

Then an idea dinged in Katieā€™s head on how to make money, rob some small stores and shops. I got powers, they donā€™t, I get money, they lose. Katie then walked back to the door and locked it, using both the door and chain lock that was on it. She didn't want to go through the door because then she would have to unlock it, so she was going to take the scenic route, the window. Katie looked out the window, she was about on the eighth floor, and no fire escape by it so people couldnā€™t get in easily, which was good, and a statue right by her window, which is also good, she would be able to find her window no problem.

Katie went back and pulled the bag over her shoulder and ran towards the window, and jumping out of it, but quickly turning into a hawk so she could easily be able to spot stores that werenā€™t as guarded as a casino and bank, and there were no government looking guards around, which Katie would suspect would come after her, she was a threat and they probably thought of her as a terrorist. And atleast Iā€™ll have fun while Iā€™m here, not like they are just going to let a super powered freak walk around their city.ā€ Katie thought as she continued to scout out for stores.

Reivy, Statix

When Rei noticed the two golden orbs looking back at him, he let out the breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding and nearly smiled. Nearly. Not literately. He looked the blond over and winced when, in his excitement, Cyrus fell over and scuffed himself up. He rolled his eyes, not at all concerned by the small amount of blood coming from each individual wound the boy now had, and was about to help him up when another figure appeared. Ghost brushed Cyrus off and gave Rei a good enough glare to get one shot back at him. ā€œTook you long enough,ā€ Ghost snarled, earning a scoff in response. ā€œI donā€™t suppose you know whatā€™s going on?ā€

Rei took a step back and motioned to the bars with some air of arrogance, as if to say, of course I know what's going on; although, in reality, he hadn't a clue in the world. He was just as lost as the blond in front of him. Well, okay, maybe not that bad, but he wasn't very well off in the ways of the situation. Looking around, he could see lights blinking down the naturally dim halls from the silent alarms he set off. The cameras were hardly visible, but he was sure if he really looked out for them, he'd be able to see them and take them all out. He wasn't too concerned with them right now though. First things first, they needed to get out of...of wherever the hell they were and find a safer place to figure things out. Looked sort of like a dungeon, almost. And, as he was standing and trying to figure a way out, the events leading up to this now came back to him.

They were all in Timeless. Statix's plan actually worked and they were all cheering and everything was fine and...and then some faceless people came and tased the crap out of them. At the memory, Rei clenched his fist. They obviously had something to do with what was going on right now. As soon as he got his chance, he was going to force someone to tell him what was going on. He knew they weren't in Timeless. That was all he could be sure of right now. He'd find out the rest later. For now, they needed to run. They needed to get out.

ā€œI give you permission to get these restrains off Cyrus,ā€ Ghost's voice snapped Rei back to attention. At the look Ghost gave him, Rei merely glared defiantly. Just for that, he thought, I shouldn't do a damn thing. But he knew he would. Because this was Cyrus. Even though Ghost was a little prick, he was still part of Cyrus. If this were anyone else, Rei would never let them speak to him this way. He would of showed them their place a long time ago. But this was different; and, regardless, this wasn't the place or time. ā€œThen we need to get out of here before those scientists return.ā€ No shit, Sherlock. Rei moved to step inside the cell when the sounds of footsteps made him pause. He quickly shot his head to his right, sighing when he realized it was only Nikolas leaving his own cell. He wouldn't admit it out loud, ever, but it was good to know Nikolas was still alive with them. After everything, any survivor was reassuring, even a wuss of an ex-Thorn. ā€œLooks like everyone is here apart from Statix,ā€ Ghost went on after seeing it wasn't a guard. ā€œRelease Cyrus and let's get out of here.ā€

Rei nodded and stepped past the melted bars of the cell. He went up to Cyrus and looked him over, showing a brief smile that was gone faster than it appeared. Instead of there being any ties around Cyrus' hands like there had been with himself, there was a chain attaching him to the wall. Easy, he thought as he bent down and made quick work of it. The acid ate away the shiny metallic latch around Cyrus's ankle and, seeing his work done here, Rei stood back up and lightly pushed Cyrus forward past Ghost--whom he ignored--out of the cell where he stopped to think of something to do. He looked to his right where he could hardly see the brick wall in the distance. He knew going that way would only lead him back around in a circle here again. So that took going left out. Turning around, he could see a typical oak door, standing out amongst all the chrome in the walls. "That's our best best," he said, looking back between Nikolas, Ghost, and Cyrus.

He stepped up to Nikolas and checked the obviously distressed boy over. There were ties holding his hands from throwing any of that explosive crap of his. Which, in Rei's mind, was a bit of a plus, since he wouldn't be able to use any of it on him, but wasn't exactly great if he wanted to use Nikolas in a fight. The guy would probably end up falling over on his face and start flopping around like a fish. "Don't move," Rei ordered with a sigh, going around and holding Nik's hands up to see the binds better. They were different. Not rope, but more of an elastic band that bounded Nik's hands together. Just as easily as with Cyrus, Rei got the bounds off Nik before shoving rudely past the violet-haired boy and heading towards the door. He motioned for the other three to follow. Carefully, he opened it and took a look out the door. Luckily, it led to a more open area with no scientists. He opened the door wider and stepped inside the room. "I feel like I'm in a video game," he mumbled, more than a little excited about all this. Anything outside of Timeless--outside of Westville--was exciting.

Five steps further and voices could be heard coming their way. Rei tensed and shoved the three back into the doorway that led to the cells, keeping the door open only a crack so he could hear when they were gone. He could just barely make out three white-clad adults running down the halls, talking to each other in hushed tones. "Dr. Joker isn't going to like this," one said, obviously worried. "He's going to freak when he hear's Example Five got loose..." and that was the last he heard of it before they ran out of sight. Sighing once again, Rei stepped into the hall and picked a random direction--opposite of the one the scientists went down--to start walking.

"I don't really care what you three do, but I'm going this way," he said, giving them each--mainly Ghost and Nik--a look that said, 'dare to defy me?' However, Rei took one step forward before hesitated and walking back to Cyrus. "And so are you," he murmured, pulling the blond boy along with him. "Don't cry, don't shout, and don't do anything stupid to get us caught. Okay?" Although he tried to say it in his strictest tone, it all came out softer than he truly intended, making his frustrating. So, huffing, he continued on walking.

---

Dr. Vanye smiled as the three subjects awoke. Aces three, four-a, and four-b. The reason the last two were connected as they were was because of the specialty of them. They were connected, in a way. Or, at least, that was how she and her co-workers worked them to be. With the powers they had, they could do more damage than they might ever realize. Ace one was somewhere undergoing experimentation and, to her knowledge, Ace five should be as well. Or, at least, recovering from a recent one. Ace two was somewhere off in a special room, also recovering. Kiku Suzuki had more than a few issues with him. He was more than a little beat up about them, as well. She spread her lips into a fine line of red before shaking her head. That wasn't her assignment now, really. Now, it was to watch after these three.

But, Dr. Vanye didn't enjoy boredom. And, what she was feeling right now was a good spurt of boredom. She didn't care for Dr. Voucher's--or, Joker, as he preferred to be called--punishments. He didn't scare her in the least, really. In fact, the only reason she even had this job because he and her had similar interests. She was a curious person. However, the difference between Dr. Vanye and Dr. Joker was she liked to create chaos. Dr. Joker preferred organization. Although he liked to mix things up every so often to witness the results, everything was, in some way, shape, or form, kept organized. This was not the way of Dr. Vanye.

At the sight of the silent alarms firing up, a smirk spread across her face. She knew the plans of Dr. Joker was to have the Examples escape. She knew she was also the only other one to know this aside from Dr. Grad--the main one in charge of the Aces, while she was officially in charge of the Examples. That's why they'd been given loose restraints. The guards were so they wouldn't get suspicious. So were the alarms. They would get away and Dr. Joker's plans would go accordingly. However, what Dr. Joker did not have planned was the release of the Aces, which is just what Dr. Vanye did. Seeing the three more or less up and atom, she slid the key in the lock and, with a squeal of protest, the bars to each cell were open soon after. "Rai Hill, Tezuka Walker, Takuya Walker," she said without hinding her amusement, "I hereby release you from your cells under the conditions that you cause chaos." She looked at their restraints. "You'll have to figure the rest out on your own." With the ever-present smile, she left them there alone. "Have fun." Dr. Grad was going to have some explaining to do.

Rai Hill

The sound of a key in a lock and the scraping sound of it turning.
Suddenly there were no bars under Rai's face. And he keeled over forwards. Nose first. Ouch. It was a rather graceless fall. Then he heard his name, and lifted his head up. His untidy hair fell into his face. Ah, there was the person in the white coat who'd been tapping. Rai's eyes focused on her pen instead of her words. But he did catch the bit about the chaos making, and the fact that there were two others beside him that were supposed to do this 'chaos causing' thing.

He could do that.

Shakily, Rai got to his feet as the woman left. Damn it. He'd wanted the spring in that pen. Perhaps he shou- oh. Oh god. In standing, Rai's head spun and his entire world tilted about forty-five degrees to the left. He covered his face with a short fingered pale hand. All thoughts of pilfering were gone with the sudden peaking of his headache. And with it all the memories that his mind tried to protect him from. Most importantly the memories of what had happened since the last drop of his memory. He remembered the things he wanted not to remember. Most of them were painful.

His lips parted in a silent wail as the thoughts floated unbidden to the forefront of his mind. Remembering. A tiled ceiling, blurred by tears. Forms moving about him, splitting pains in his skull. Not being able to move at all. Voices, gruff voices speaking, laughing. snips of conversation floated up. "Glad we got this one to work on. Hear the others are a handful." "Yeah. I think this one is more sedate." "Nahh, He's just weaker." laughter. Pain in his skull. Counting the tiles. One, two... four...one, two...three, six...

Rai swallowed, trying to force the memories down like a bad taste in his mouth. It took a moment, but he manage to quell the memories. He stood for a second, his head resting against the wall opposite his cell, eyes closed. And he noticed that there was more in his mind than there used to be. Or more specifically, outside his mind. Presences. Two of them.

Rai forget about his previous bout of memory attack, his queen finger rising to his mouth so he could nibble on the finger pad, his eyes still closed. He examined the presences with his mind. They were almost tangible. It brought a whole new metaphysical dimension into his mind. There was more than just him. He stretched his mind and prodded one of the presences. It didn't react.

Rai's lips began to move, speaking without words. If anyone was to reach his lips they would find the mouthed words gibberish. Another habit. Talking to himself. He enjoyed the motion. He pulled his head away from the wall and shook it vigorously. Like a wet dog. He prodded the presence again. And then he did the only other thing he could reasonably fathom to do to it.

Hello? What are you? He thought to it. He did that often enough, but never to anything so...tangible. Rai turned his head, holding on the toe wall with raw finger pads. And he spotted two forms in the cell next to his. In the exact places the forms were in his mind.

Wicked. What was going on?

Cyrus Zervais

Ghost removed the hands from his hips and tapped his foot impatiently, waiting for Rei to get his ass over to Cyrus and remove the restraint on his ankle. The thing was chained to the wall, most likely because the blonde would move around a lot in his cell, especially in the hope of escaping. Rei nodded and strode over to them, giving a short lived smile to Cyrus. Ghost stepped away from them both, however he kept close and continued to glare at Rei. He was cautious to say the least, he couldnā€™t quite trust Rei not to use that acid power of his to harm Cyrus -- if it worked on human skin that was. Come to think of it, it probably didnā€™t since it never harmed Reiā€™s palms. Knowing this didnā€™t make Ghost any less weary though, Rei could still harm Cyrus in other ways. The boy was fragile, he could not defend for himself -- not consciously anyway.

The acid quickly ate away the metal band at Cyrusā€™ ankle and Rei stood up, pushing Cyrus forward and away from Ghost. The copy glared at both of them, catching up and pushing past Rei to get to Cyrus. The blonde whimpered a little when his hand was grabbed by Ghost and yanked backwards away from Rei. The other didnā€™t seem to care too much as he was busy searching for a way out. Ghost made no effort to give him a hand, he was all too busy checking the mark which the metal band left around Cyrusā€™ ankle. Apart from being a bit sore and red, there was no damage from the acid.

ā€œThat's our best best,ā€ Rei announced to them, stepping over to Nikolas and examining the binding around his hands. It wasnā€™t the same as what Cyrus had; Nikā€™s wrists were tied with a rubber band, or something similar. ā€œDon't move,ā€ Rei ordered, using his acid to burn through the restraints. He shoved past Nikolas without another word and continued on to the large wooden door. Rei motioned for the rest of them to follow, which they did. The door was carefully opened and Rei stepped inside, Ghost remained behind with Cyrus until instructed to do so otherwise. He hated to admit it but Rei was probably their best bet for getting out of here; there was not much Ghost could do without risking Cyrusā€™ own life.

Seeing that Rei still didnā€™t return, Ghost lead Cyrus through the doorway, only to be met with a large shove back through. Ghost growled under his breath, however he dared not to say anything as the voices of scientists could be heard through the doorway. He couldnā€™t exactly hear what they were saying, but he knew they were saying something. Probably to do with them escaping. If so then they didnā€™t have much time before they would be forced back into their cells. Rei moved back through the door, seeing as the scientists must have vanished. Ghost was apprehensive about following but a small tug from Cyrus made him also go through. The blonde broke off from his copy and ran towards Rei, stopping a few feet away from him. Ghost quickly caught up and scowled at the boy.

ā€œI don't really care what you three do, but I'm going this way,ā€ Rei ceased his walking and turned around to give them each a look which said ā€˜dare to defy meā€™. Ghost returned his look with a harsh glare and a scoff. If that was the way he was going to be then they didnā€™t need him, they could find their own way out. Rei took one more step forward before turning around and walking back to Cyrus. ā€œAnd so are you,ā€ he murmured, pulling the blonde along with him.

ā€œHey!ā€ Ghost growled out, yelling a little louder than he originally intended.

ā€œDon't cry, don't shout, and don't do anything stupid to get us caught. Okay?ā€ Rei seemed to ignore him, continuing to speak to Cyrus. The boy nodded sheepishly and clung closer to Rei. The boy let out a huff but continued walking. Ghost stared at them for a moment, before looking back to Nikolas. He opened his mouth to say something but quickly closed it and run down the hallway towards Rei and Cyrus. He didnā€™t bother to yank the blonde away, he merely hung a few steps behind; following them all the same.

ā€œStupid Rei, thinks he can order around Cyrus.ā€ Ghost grumbled under his breath, his gaze lowered to the floor. ā€œJust because Cyrus likes him.ā€ he folded his arms and glared defiantly at his feet. Despite Ghostā€™s angry views on Rei, he did nothing at all to stop Cyrus from clinging onto him.

THREE DAYS AGO

Takuya

Tezuka and Takuya had been curled up together, where ever they had been put, finally both asleep.

Until a rough pair of hands grabbed at Takuya, not only waking him, but dragging him off somewhere. He didn't say anything as his brother called after him. "I'll be back..." He thought.

He closed his eyes, praying that he was being truthful. Whoever was in front of him led him through a series of dark tunnels, doors cropping up in the walls here and there, all of them closed, as if forbidding him any hope of escape. Not that he would leave his twin behind. He couldn't. Tezuka needed him.

There were three people escorting him. One in front was leading the group, and two were behind him. One to his left, and the other to his right. He figured that whatever had been done to him and his brother, it must have been both important and dangerous for them to use three people to escort a hardly fit seventeen-year-old. Either way, it didn't matter. It seemed that they had arrived, as they stopped moving.

"Test subject #000425 ready for experimentation, Doctor. All seems functional." The man in front spoke to the wall in front of him, and for a split second Taku wondered if all of them in this place were absolutely crazy. Until of course the screen on the wall illuminated, which he couldn't see for the darkness. No one appeared, it was just a symbol. The brightness of the screen hurt his eyes so much, Takuya had to shut them, and by the time he opened them, the screen was blank, so he didn't get a look at the symbol.

"Good. Let him in. We'll start immediately."

The door in front of them opened, and the two guards behind him shoved him through it, none too gently. Everything was a steel grey, nothing too bright. He wondered if they knew of his eyes' sensitivity to light, and that was why they had put him somewhere dark once again. He also wondered just why he was here, and what they had meant about 'experimentation'.

He didn't like the sound of it.

And he definitely didn't like it when a door slid upwards in the wall twenty feet in front of him, revealing a very large, and very angry, cat of some sort. It appeared to be wild, whatever it was. It could have been mad. All Takuya registered was that it charged straight for him when it saw him.

He really didn't remember doing much, he just rolled to the side, trying to stay out of its reach. It still managed to somehow claw him, as he felt blood run down his left arm.

"Great...I'm lost, dazed, confused, tired, and hungry, and they put me in a dark room with a cat that has all of the advantages of being a cat, like the fact it can see in the dark. Just great. My day's starting wonderfully, how's yours?" He muttered to the cat, not caring whatsoever that he was probably being monitored.

The cat had run head-first into the wall, not bothering to stop once it had passed Takuya. Yep, definitely mad. Of course! It only made his day better!

Takuya growled under his breath, rolling again as the cat charged. Obviously, the people watching him weren't too impressed, because another door opened, and another cat sauntered out of it. Takuya's eyes narrowed. He was barely dealing with one, and they wanted him to fight two? Maybe they were just trying to kill him...

Maybe it was all some sick game.

The two cats had somehow managed to work together, despite being mad, and corner him. They both charged at once, and Takuya shut his eyes.

Both cats rebounded off of something in front of him, hitting the floor nearly ten feet away with a loud thump. Takuya's eyes snapped open. What? Was it something they had done? Or had he done it? He had no idea. Until one of the cats charged, and hit it again.

Taku felt it. He was doing it. But...how? Why? He didn't care. Whatever he was doing, it obviously took concentration, because the second cat hit it, and it was like watching glass shatter, as he could see what was keeping them back break up into pieces, disappearing once again as they hit the floor. Takuya tried to concentrate again as the first cat charged yet again, intent on sinking fangs into juicy neck.

Wait...what?

You're mine, prey...mine...food...so hungry...need something...must get before brother...not share...food...not share...mine.

The cat was prowling in front of him, tan fur matted and rough, yellow eyes watching him, as if waiting. He was sure he hadn't somehow managed to put up another barrier, because he couldn't feel it. It was almost as if...he was in the cat's mind. If so, he was truly creped out.

You...don't want me. I'm no good...you should fight him...brother...instead!

Takuya had no idea where he had gotten that from. He had, on a dime, talked to a mad cat in its mind, and then watched as if in slow motion as the cat turned and then attacked the second cat after staring at him for almost three seconds.

What the hell was wrong with him?

Tezuka

Tezuka was also woken up as someone took his brother away. Tezu ran and hit the bars of his cell, watching them leave.

"Takuya!" He called after him.

"I'll be back..."

It flickered through his mind, and sounded vaguely like Taku's voice. Tezuka sunk to his knees, a manic smile on his face. "I'm...going crazy...that's it." He laughed.

He didn't know how much time had passed before they came for him. Three men led him down the hall, repeating the same process they had with Takuya, except his number they had called out was #000426. He stood silent, and walked into the room before any of them could touch him. There was a bored expression on his face, a normal for him.

Two doors were opened at once, and two wolves sauntered in, looking quite thin, but perfectly sane. One to his left, and one to his right. Tezuka eyed them both. They growled in response, slowly beginning to circle him. Tezuka then looked dead ahead, a glare replacing his expression of boredom. Were they just going to circle him forever? They were hungry...

...weren't they?

His manic smile returned as one wolf charged him from behind. Timed perfectly, Tezuka spun, and kicked the beast across the face, sending it reeling back a good twenty feet or so with a yelp. The other wolf snarled at him, and when he turned to look at it, that was when he saw it.

His grin grew wider. He was fighting mates. The female had been the one that he had kicked, and the male now went for him. it was too fast, so he went down with the wolf on top of him. His hands pressed against the beasts' throat, keeping its saliva-dripping jaws as far as possible from his face. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the female get up, running for his head.

Turning the upper half of his body, Tezuka threw the male into the female, again making her yelp, and the male snarl. He got back on his feet, and took a stance, waiting for them. He locked eyes with the male, and something clicked. It was like he was looking back at himself...

...through the wolf's eyes.

Whatever was happening, it was cool. Tezuka's, if it was even possible by now, grin grew wider yet, as the wolf had froze, sensing the alien presence in its head.

Tezuka wondered just what all he could do with this new found power he had. He pictured himself dead, and the wolf cocked its head, as if confused, and began sniffing the ground, as if it were making sure something was dead.

Tezuka could make the wolf see things. He thought of an idea. He made the female wolf appear as one of the men who had brought them into the cage, after searching the wolf's mind, realizing they were being no better treated than him and his brother.

Snarling, confused, and tormented, Tezuka grinned as he watched the male wolf slaughter his partner, and then whine and pant helplessly as he lifted the illusion, showing him his dead mate. The wolf didn't know what to do, so once again it attacked Tezuka, its original target. He was ready this time, and grabbed the wolf as it jumped on him, placing his hands on its neck, and snapping it, quickly.

He walked over to the female wolf, who lay in a pool of her own blood, and ran a hand through the warm and sticky red liquid. He stared at it on his hands, and began to laugh.

PRESENT DAY

Takuya

Takuya woke up once again on the hard, cold ground. And still, he had no answers. At least he had his brother back. After that first day, they had taken him away. Last night, they had returned him, saying something to the effect that he had nearly gone insane, and was to be kept with his brother, and under close observation.

Du to his uncontrollable powers, they had blindfolded and restrained him, even now.

Even though he was no longer so sensitive to light, the rooms or cells where they were kept remained dark.

His thought process was interrupted by his name being called.

They were being released? And who was the first one. Rai Hill? Who was that? He nearly jumped out of his skin when he heard his brother snarl,

"Get the hell out of my head..."

Tezuka

Blindfolded, hungry, and cold, the last thing Tezuka wanted was for someone to be poking around in his mind.

Hello? What are you?

But there someone was. With slight difficulty, he sat up, and growled back, "Get the hell out of my head..."

He shook himself, trying to get free of his restraints. His brother helped him, and also removed the god-forsaken blindfold they had put over his eyes. Apparently he scared them. That made him smile.

"What am I? A human, a boy, a teenager, a multi-celled organism, take your damn pick. You're the one rummaging around through my mind, so I'm guessing I should be asking you that question." He said with a dark undertone in his voice.

"So tell me...Rai Hill,"

"What are you?"

Rai Hill

Rai flinched, his face going red as the voice growled out. His mind withdrew. Holy crap. It really was a person. And whoever it was could hear him. He withdrew his mind, his insides torn between fear and rejoice. But he wasn't really scared, no. Rai was never scared. Not in a million years. Ever. He could...communicate. Although, it seemed better to leave that one alone. His face had fallen into a rather blank look, his lips parted slightly as he thought. He began to chew on the words in his head, his mouth working soundlessly again.

What to do, what to do?

Perhaps he should reply. Rai released the wall, gathering his confidence again, and began nibbling on his thumb pad thoughtfully, quelling the previous movement of his mouth. He blinked at the two, pulling himself into the situation again. Or maybe he should see if it worked on the other presence too. Or perhaps if he could talk to both at once. Ha, talking. It had been something so out of reach, but here it was now, right in his hands. Well, his mind more like. Rai bubbled with giddiness. But, this insolent boy. How to reply? His mind darted form thing to thing like a crazed bumble bee, stumbling over itself to keep up with it's own train of thought.

Slow steps forward drew him closer to the two, an eyebrow lifted on his pale face and blue eyes looking curious. His giddiness overcame the annoyance of the impertinence of the boy. It wasn't like they'd be near each other for very long, after Rai went off to figure out how to make chaos.

Can you really hear me? He questioned, reaching out to both minds now, his finger pulling away from his mouth as he concentrated on the words and on the presences, moving closer to the two until his was pressed against the wall next to the opening of their cell. His wide eyes peered in at them, a gleam of annoyance towards the boy who'd spoken before.

If so, he continued, what I am is better than you, so bugger off. He added a grin to the statement, smug. it was true, undeniably so.

But still he was unconsciously tensed to run, in case the boy decided to come after him. One of those things a kid learned after a while. Especially if that kid periodically flicked people off. For the shits and giggles. Running wasn't one of Rai's skills though, sadly. Even though it would have been a very dandy one to have. Especially since he had a face like that. His back foot edged sideways, and his fingers tightened on the stones. But his face was cocky, as was his mind set. His poor body tried so hard to keep him from harm, but the boy just couldn't help himself. That was probably why he'd been born mute. So he wouldn't run around saying everything that popped in his head.

Tezuka

Tezuka's red and purple eyes locked onto the incoming boy's face. So this was the mind-speaker. Humph. He thought he was better than him? They'd see about that...

Red and purple met steel grey. "You think you're better than me? So you can speak directly in my mind. Big effing deal..." His eyes narrowed, searching...what did this boy fear most...

"You can't talk...what about not being able to hear either?" He snaked his way into the other boy's mind, removing his sense of hearing, and even sight. Everything was gone, save for the sense of touch. He made him imagine being scratched at, all over his body. None of it was really of course...but on this level of the psyche, the human brain wasn't able to tell what was real and what was not.

The longer this went on, the more manic Tezuka's smile got, as he just sat there.

Takuya

Blue and red eyes widened as the voice entered her mind, though he was a little put off by the smugness of it. "Yes...apparently we can both hear you. You're like us then, a lab rat?"

He wondered if the boy would speak aloud this time, or once again use his mind. Something seemed off about Rai...Takuya shifted his gaze to his brother, who was just staring at Rai, his face growing more and more crazed as the seconds ticked by. He wondered if his brother truly was going crazy. Were they having a conversation purely in their minds?

Whatever was going on, Tezu didn't like being out of the loop, especially when his brother was involved. "Hey, are you even listening to me?" His eyes switched back and forth between the two, and suddenly, he realized what was going on, or at least he guessed.

Tezuka had told him that he was able to make people hallucinate, go crazy. He had already done it to one of the guards, so long as he had eye contact. Rai must have pissed him of, because he could tell his brother was battling him. Which one was winning, Taku neither knew nor cared, all he knew was he had to stop them, just in case Tezuka was winning.

"Tezuka...that's enough. Let him go. Tezuka!" He touched his brother's shoulder, and got no response. He did the same with Rai, who was standing against the wall at the entrance of their cell, and got the same result.

"I need eye contact..."

He looked back at his brother, walked up to him, and after giving him a few nudges, pushed him clean over.

The power was broken, as was Tezuka's hold, if he had any in the first place, was over. Tezuka glared up at his brother. "What the hell was that for?"

"You want to harm a potential ally? Think about it. He's a lab rat, just like us. Don't you think maybe we should keep together, and not tear each otherā€™s throats out?"

He glared at Tezuka, who glared right back, but not for long. He knew Takuya was right, however much he didn't want to admit it. "You know his name...he's mute, that's why he speaks with his mind. Doesn't know how he's able to, just like us with our powers." He sat with his arms crossed, scowling at the wall.

Kiku Suzuki

Kiku was on the verge of sleep, his dull and boring room dancing with dream-like lights and shapes. Eyes half lidded and Headphones barely covering his ears Kiku watched the walls with amusement. He could see everything. Sound waves, shapes, colors, people. He knew they werenā€™t real. But they were funny to look at.

Three hours ago, some scientist came in and pricked him with a needle, claiming it was for ā€˜blood workā€™. He came back a couple minutes later with a syringe, and roughly grasped Kikuā€™s small arm, stabbing the needled into his muscles, ignore the loud gasp and scream of pain that ripped out of Kikuā€™s mouth. With a sick smile the doctor left him there, not bothering to wrap the wound he had made.

Instead, the boy had to apply pressure to his tiny wound, his mind quickly becoming hazed; body slumping over. He let out a groggy moan of pain and laid there in a haze.

That was over 2 and a half hours ago. Nothing had changed; expect for the fact that his powers were super sensitive, causing Kiku to be able to view the sound waves without any concentration. He could not; however, listen in on any conversations for his arms, no his body felt like a lead weight, tying him to his uncomfortable bed.

Whatā€¦what was that? the blonde thought, his mind slowly beginning to clear. what did they give me? Will it kill me? His mood brightened at the prospect of dying. I was a failure wasnā€™t I? They decided to kill me off. I'm useless. As always Kiku managed to quirk his lips in a small smile, his eyes closing all the way, ending the spectacular view of shapes and colors.

BAM

His room/cellā€™s door slammed open and a woman strode in, a furious look on her face.

ā€œAre you able to walk, boy?ā€ she bit out, glaring down at Kiku, glasses rimming her aqua blue eyes.

Kiku shook his head and opened his mouth slowly, ā€œWhat do you think, bitch?ā€ he muttered slowly. He didnā€™t mean to punctuate each word, but with his mind only running on a speed of 4mph, when I usually ran 80mph, it was hard not too.

The reaction was instantaneous; the doctor raised her hand and slapped him across the face, a cruel smirk on her lips and her hand left a red welt on Kikuā€™s face. It wouldnā€™t have been so bad if her hand fell on the right side of his face. But of course he was lying on that side and her hand struck his still healing scar.

He whimpered in pain and looked up at her, a glare evident in his eyes. Silently he dared her to slap her again, to beat him up and leave him to die.

ā€œAs much as I would love you kill you,ā€ she snarled, ā€œYouā€™re important to this experiment.ā€

Important how? he wondered still staring at her. His eyes slid closed against his will and he hoped he was going unconscious. And that when he woke this she-bitch wouldnā€™t be standing next to him.

ā€œOh no you donā€™t.ā€ her tone sounded softer, more affectionate, but Kiku figured it was just his imagination, ā€œget up, your due for more experimentsā€¦and you canā€™t use these.ā€ The female scientist pulled him up by his arm with ease, making Kiku wonder just how skinny and frail he really was. Then again he had always been on the smaller side. When he was standing, with her help for he would have fallen over without it, she used her other arm to plunk the headphones off his ears.

Immediately Kikuā€™s ears were assaulted with sound, and he was able to hear everything that was happening; all at once. His head started to pound against the rest of his skull and it felt like hammers being slammed into his head; which is not a pleasant thing to go through.

His eyes shut automatically, and he stumbled forward as the lady began to move, half dragging, half pulling him with her. His feet tripped over each other along with the floor itself and he cringed at the sound each step made. It was like thunder, and not the kind of thunder that you see a minute after you see the effect; lightening. No, it was the kind that made your house shake, the booming sound rattling your very core. Now times that feeling by four, for he had two feet, and the girl had her own two.

Of course this was not the only sound Kiku had to deal with. The sounds of people being tested on, the screams from everywhere in a 5 mile radius of him could be heard. He tried his best to concentrate on making his powers focus on one sound, but with his mind in a dark haze, he could do nothing. It took all his energy to stay awake and keep his feet moving. No matter how painful it was.

When he was able to open his eyes again, he was sitting in a room, he could feel the thick steel walls around him, with one pressed up against his back. It was pitch black, the kind of darkness kids are afraid of, the fear of monsters popping up out of the blue giving them nightmares.

But it wasnā€™t dark for Kiku, not for long. His mind was clear, the fogginess of the drugs he was given wearing off quicker than he thought they would. Of course he was happy for this and summoned his powers, the room lighting up in an arrangement of colors; except black and gray.

Suddenly, it was quiet. Kiku had touched none of the sound waves, meaning his mind was honed in on nothing. Not a sound could be heard. That was new. Before he could hear everything until he touched one of the waves. He never had the choice to have silence. Complete and absoluteā€¦silence.

Pingā€¦

Kikuā€™s head snapped to the left, eyes narrowing at the sound. When nothing else happened, he scanned the air waves for a disturbance, wondering if it would happen again.

Pingā€¦

There it was again. But as far as Kiku could see, it didnā€™t cause a new sound wave on his map. Frightened Kiku began to touch the waves, hoping that one of them would be the sound he could hear right next to him. It was a scary thought to say the least. You can hear something, you can feel it next to you, but you canā€™t see it. Terrifyingā€¦isnā€™t it?

Kikuā€¦deep breathsā€¦.inā€¦outā€¦.inā€¦and outā€¦good.

Kiku listened to his internal self, his calmer self. The self that didnā€™t want to die.

Now, listen to me, listen good. Summon your powersā€¦good boy. Now how far do you want to be able to hear? Lets try the ground floor.

Ground floor, what did that mean? Nevertheless Kiku obeyed his mind and focused on the ground floor of the building.

Sound waves floated around him, no different then they usually did. However what was different was that they shared a common color. They were brown; from dark brown to light tan, the waves floated around him, embracing him in a warm light.

good, you see? You can focus on a single area. Focus on here. There shouldnā€™t be much to hear in here. When Kiku nodded, his inner self dispersed, leaving the original Kiku sitting there amazed at what he could do.

Pingā€¦.pingā€¦..pingā€¦ping

Kiku looked around wildly again, a sense of dread crawling over his skin.

clickā€¦pingā€¦clickā€¦pingā€¦ping-clickā€¦pingā€¦click-clickā€¦ping

The small boy whimpered in fear and hastily focused his powers on this room, taking in the blue hue he was basked in. Only a few sound waves fluttered about. He touched each one; one was him breathing, another was his heartbeatā€¦ah. Here. This must be the weird sound he could hear. With caution, Kiku touched the teal wave. It blinked rapidly, something that was new to him entirely. When it stopped, he could hear the ā€˜pingingā€™ sound clearly. But it wasnā€™t just a ping. It was a voice.

Heā€™s doing splendid, Sir. The drug was accepted by his bodyā€¦.yesā€¦in there now. Yes sureā€¦. pingā€¦yes, Sirā€¦Sir if I mayā€¦click, click, clickā€¦pingā€¦.Yes, Sir, butā€¦Sir! Permission to speakā€¦Sir, yes Sirā€¦

Kiku froze, listening intently to what he was hearing. It was a one sided conversation, so he assumed that the voice was talking on the phone. It did sound like that one womanā€¦who forcefully dragged him hereā€¦huh.

sirā€¦the test subject is suicidal, you realize that, correct?...Sirā€¦yes, sir I understand what you mean butā€¦Sir! He openly dared me toā€¦sorry sirā€¦the subject dared me to kill himā€¦yes sirā€¦I know he is important sirā€¦no he is not harmed in any way sirā€¦I told you this alreadyā€¦the drug workedā€¦sir? I understand, Sir

Kiku sighed, it was just a random conversation, about him but he could care less. He was just about to deactivate his powers when he heard something-

Yes Sir. The new Timeless shall be magnificent. All is going to plan the womanā€™s voice changed, sounding like she was sneering into the phone; full of confidence and evil intentions, All according to plan, Sir. They will not escape so easilyā€¦.clickā€¦ping

Blinking, Kiku let the words sink in. He had heard rumors of a ā€˜Timelessā€™ but they were rumors. Not that he really remembered what they were about. Oh well.

Kiku didnā€™t bother deactivating his powers when the woman came into the room, light pouring in through the open doorway.

ā€œReadyā€¦Kiku?ā€ she smiled, her tone sickly sweet.

Pretending to be docile, Kiku meekly nodded and stood up on shaky legs, and hobbled over to her. He would go to his room. He would think things over. He wouldā€¦he had to find others. He had too. Butā€¦how?

ā€œAre you listening to me, boy?ā€ the voice hissed into his ear, causing Kiku to jump up, falling on his butt with a scream.

The woman looked unimpressed and hauled him to his feet, a dark glare on her face. What was it now? Why did she have to look at him like that?

It didnā€™t take long to get back to his room, luckily. Anymore time with that doctor and Kiku would have killed her. Or himself. But he wanted that so it wasnā€™t a bad thing.

He walked over to his bed and collapsed onto it happily. Well, it was more like a cot then a bed, but Kiku was tired. And surprising his head wasnā€™t pound- oh wait, there it was. He groaned and slid off his bed and onto the floor, slithering over to his headphones lazily. When they were firmly placed on his head Kiku managed to pick himself up off the dirty floor and back onto his bed.

With a happy sigh, he let his mind wander voicing out random thought into the air. It wasnā€™t like anyone could hear what he was thinking anyways.

What is this ā€œTimelessā€? and why are these scientists hell-bent on making ā€˜anotherā€™ one? What was the first one? Who were the people who he heard escape? Where were they now? Were there others like him? With powers? Or was he alone?

The small and frail blonde boyā€™s thoughts slowed down, allowing him to doze off peacefully. It was quiet for once. And Kiku was going to take every moment of sleep he could. Who knows; he might be on the run sooner than he thought.

Rai Hill

Oh God. What was this. Rai's body locked upon the loss of his sight. And of his hearing. His body locked, his lips parting in an utterly silent wail of terror. The pain, the pain bothered him only a little, but the absence of his other senses terrified him. That was not a good thing. Not a good thing. Not a good thing... And then it was gone. Everything came back. Rai exhaled a breath he hadn't realized that he was holding. He blinked twice, mouth gaping like a dying fish's.

He didn't hear what the second male was saying. He paid no attention to the two. He'd withdrawn back into his own mind, his entire mind tucked in on itself. He wasn't cowed. He wasn't scared. No, not at all. Most definitely not. His fingers clutched the wall as he took a few paces back, closing his eyes as his face screwed up. He rested it against the cool wall for a moment, recalibrating his existence. Decisively so. Revenge was in order, perhaps? Yes. More than perhaps. He'd plot. It would be a beautiful plan, yes. Yes. But he's have to stay quiet. He'd been given the gift of speech. He should use it decisively. To his own gain. That one was stubborn, foolish. He didn't realize Rai's might. Or what the boy could do. Oh no. He didn't realize that Rai was better than him. And The pale boy couldn't clue the other young man in. He'd have to say as little as possible.

Which wouldn't be that hard. Rai was sued to not speaking. But the other one would be okay to talk to, perhaps. His mind, alibut rather shakily, reached out towards the second presence.

Hello. Who are you? And your...other one. He left it at that. He had many other questions, but he didn't want to clue these two in on his state of ignorance. That wouldn't be very wise. No, not at all.

His pale face peeked back around the corner, and found the lighter haired boy's face. His eyes flicked erratically over the face, examining it for a second. He was a bit twitchy after his ordeal, but he was holding himself together as strictly as he could. His mouth was twisted in a scowl, and his eyes narrowed slightly as he gazed into the dullness of the other males' cell.

After a short examination of the other's face he retreated again, turning from the cell and sliding down the wall. his body wasn't used to standing for so long. He hadn't stood for so long in such a long while. His knees were beginning to tremble. His shoulders were trembling too. But he wrote that off as stress. Not fear.

He sighed, his head sagging as his rear met the ground. He pulled his knees to his chest, resting his forehead on his knees and closing his eyes. Perhaps he should take a nap or something. There was an underlying sense of urgency, but it wasn't enough to force him up on his feet again. Nothing urgent enough to make him do anything, really. The chaos command from earlier was forgotten.

Sweet apathy. And not so sweet fear. But the fear didn't exist. no, it didn't exist at all. Really. Because fear is for the foolish and the weak. Neither of which were Rai.

Nikolas Ze

It was good to see that Cyrus was alive and ok, and somewhat less of a relief to see that Rei wasnā€™t captured yet and was still his cocky, arrogant, Iā€™m too good for you, self. The only good thing about the Fang (did the gangs even matter anymore? Nikolas doubted it) was that heā€™d be able to protect Cyrus. ā€œLooks like everyone is here apart from Statix,ā€ Ghost said. Again, it was good to see him (it?). It meant that Cyrus was fineā€¦ Well, as fine as the boy got. ā€œRelease Cyrus and let's get out of here.ā€ Nikolas didnā€™t mind that he was, more or less, being ignored. His head hurt a little, and he wasnā€™t one hundred percent sure what was going on.

Then again, did the others have any idea, or were they just BS-ing the whole thing? Rei pretended to know what was going on, or at least wasnā€™t thinking about it, because he stepped into Cyrusā€™s cell and let the blond free from whatever bonds theā€¦ People had put on him. Nikolas looked down at his own hands, tied together with some kind of strange elastic band things. He was tempted to call them ropes, but these werenā€™t normal ropes. A little lost, Nikolas tried breaking out of them, but a few seconds into it and he hadnā€™t even budged them. Ok, not normal rope, he thought to himself with a frown.

He didnā€™t like being tied up with Rei, Cyrus, and Ghost. Well, actually, he was fine with the blond and hisā€¦ Friend (or whatever the hell Ghost was. Nikolas wasnā€™t sure). He wasnā€™t fine with Rei. Who knew what the punk was going to do? And Rei was a lot better at up-close and personal fights than Nikolas, even if the purple-haired young man (teenager? Time was lost on him) was taller and had more muscle. Nikolas hadnā€™t had a good hand-to-hand fight inā€¦ Well, since around the beginning of Timeless, whenever that was.

"That's our best bet," Rei suddenly said, looking at a large oak door that was completely out of place amid the chrome and metal. Then again, everything looked strange to Nikolas. He hadnā€™t noticed Rei coming up to him until the black-haired teen spoke. "Don't move," he said. He easily took the bonds off and Nikolas nodded his thanks, not speaking in case the other decided to change his mind and attack (it was Rei). The boy hardly even noticed. If he did, he didnā€™t look like it, shoving past Nikolas and heading towards the door, opening it easily. He looked around and didnā€™t see anything (or didnā€™t say if he did). He opened the door wider and stepped in. "I feel like I'm in a video game." Nikolas stepped forward to follow Rei (Really? Youā€™re following the enemy? Nikolas ignored the voice), only to get shoved back into the room with the cells.

Rei closed the door most of the way so it was only a crack, and, while Nikolas heard footsteps and mutterings of people he didnā€™t recognize, he couldnā€™t make anything out. Eventually the people left, and Rei stepped back into the hall and picked a random direction, most likely the opposite of where the voices had gone. "I don't really care what you three do, but I'm going this way," Rei said with a glare. He gave Ghost and Nikolas pointed ā€˜dare you to defy meā€™ looks, but Nikolas didnā€™t feel like getting into a fight with the ex-Fang.

Wow, you have calmed downā€¦ Or maybe youā€™re just going soft, brother. Shut upā€¦! Rei is my friend, he wouldnā€™t attack me. Besides, he needs me to stay alive. Nikolas tried to ignore the laughter echoing in his head, but it hurt his head. He forced himself to not scowl, or narrow his eyes, or make any physical sign that it was doing anything to him. Employing some of dadā€™s methods? I thought you didnā€™t like him. I donā€™t. And you arenā€™t even real! Youā€™re dead! Because you killed me. The laughter was back, louder, with more venom.

ā€œCome on, we have to hurry,ā€ Nikolas told the others as Rei started walking off. The purple-haired teen followed the other; figuring things couldnā€™t get much worse.

Iā€™ll be watching.

Takuya

Takuya had just been standing there, glaring at his brother, when Rai had suddenly scurried off, and then proceeded to peek at them around the corner.

Hello. Who are you? And your...other one? Taku seemed to snap out of it, glancing over at Rai, and then proceeded to sit down on the cold concrete floor with a sigh. "My name is Takuya Walker, and the asshole here," He jerked his thumb at his brother, who growled, "Is Tezuka Walker. We're brothers...twins, actually. I take it your power consists of speaking in other's minds due to the fact that you can't speak normally, correct?"

He paused, his red-and-blue eyes watching him carefully. He didn't know what this boy could do, and also couldn't tell what he was thinking, which was never a very good combination. It proved to be a dangerous mystery until Rai was confirmed as an ally or an enemy. At least then they would know what he would do. "My ability, power...curse, whatever you want to call it, is I can protect. I suppose that could sum it up in one word. Tezuka can destroy. It seems even our powers are intertwined." He swiveled his head to look at his brother, who had busied himself with picking at a loose piece of concrete in the floor, ignoring the other two.

Taku returned his gaze to Rai. "Is that all you can do? And on top of that, since they have appeared to be letting us go...what do you say to getting out of here?"

Tezuka

Tezuka sat there, picking at the crumbling concrete, ignoring his brother, only offereing a low growl as Taku called him an asshole. Well, he supposed for the most part it was true, but still. He shrugged it off, delving deep into his own mind, into his memories, trying to think if he had ever seen a door, or some way out of this place.

He couldn't. He was begining to become increasingly frustrated with his lack of knowledge. Though he supposed it was the white coat's doing, as they didn't want their little pets escaping them. Tezuka suddenly glanced up, looking at the back of his brother's head, and seeing the right side of Rai's face.

Tezuka and Takuya were sitting in just the right positions, both facing Rai, and just slightly overlapping each other as they looked at him, so that all Rai could see in the darkess was a misshappen body, and a head staring at him with two glowing red eyes. Takuya's blue one was still a normal eye, and therefore didn't glow in the dim light. Their red ones did, but they never saw it, even on eachother. Only others could see the glow.

Taku's let off a sort of warm glow, as if it were kind and inviting, which was off set completely by the dark, and evil sense that Tezuka's seemed to get off. One Good eye and one Evil. It was one reason, for their red eyes, that the twins had recieved their nicknames from the white coats.

Reivy

Rei was nervous.

He wouldn't show it and definitely wouldn't say it out loud, but it was there nonetheless, hanging over his head, taunting him even. It made him chomp down on his tongue and stare straight ahead despite wanting to look in all directions at all. He knew that would only make him look lost and jittery, so he kept his eyes forward and moved with a purpose. He was well aware of the three following behind him--too aware. He had to keep himself from wincing with every footstep he heard echoing down the hallway and nearly jumped a time too many when he heard voices coming from another nearby room. He was anxious. Screwy. He wasn't exactly in his right mind, to say it all.

Rei had never exactly been the leader type. He had all the qualities, sure: a level head, a calm mind, a courageous attitude (well, a careless one to most, but that was besides the point). But he just never wanted anything to do with others. He never had the desire to lead or take control. He never wanted to be on top of the crowd, he just wanted to be separated from it all together. He hated people. He really, truly did. In Timeless, Rei never minded the loneliness. It helped him thrive. If he never had to rely on others, then he was perfectly good. If others never relied on him, that was even better; it meant no responsibility, nothing to worry about, no lives to look over--he could focus on numero uno. Of course, as all the people started dying away, he came to the realization that he was the only one good enough for the job. He fit the description, certainly, although his selfishness had always jumped snidely into the way of him actually showing any care that a leader would, but... But now? He wasn't sure what to think, how to feel, how to act. He just kept walking, hyper aware of the three following behind him and secretly hoping they wouldn't get caught. He wouldn't know what to do if they got caught.

"We need to get out of here," he said under his breath. He wasn't sure when he'd gained the habit of talking to himself, but he didn't question it. As he came to an intersection of sorts, he finally came to a stop. He squeezed his hands together, biting on his tongue until he could feel the warm metallic taste of blood swarm through his mouth. He wrinkled his nose at the taste and let out an over-exaggerated sigh. Which way now, Sherlock? He had no idea. He had no idea where he was or where he was going or what was going on or who any of the people in this building were. He didn't know if he was in a city or a dessert or in the North Pole or even on the same planet anymore. He had no idea. And he was being watched inquizzically from behind. Pressured. And that made him more nervous than anything.

"This way," he grunted, his body moving on its own in a random direction down the right side hall. There was another interesection immediately after and now was when he started showing his anxiety. He looked back and fourth, quickly, unsure, before stomping off to the right hall again. Another intersection and he started to breathe like he was having an anthsma attack. He felt like he was going to hyperventilate. Everything felt so heavy. The weight of the world. The insecurities, the unknown, the change, the pressure. He wasn't on top of things this time. Things were on top of him, weighing him down, threatening to flatten him. Rei took a sharp left this time--slammed right into an open door this time before falling on his butt with a groan. "I don't know what I'm doing!" he moaned, putting his hands in his face and moving them. He didn't care if Nikolas and Cyrus and Ghost were watching. He just didn't care.

He moved his hands away from his face and kicked the door shut with his foot, not caring about the way-too-loud noise that echoed down the otherwise empty hallway. He needed to release this frustration somehow. As he took in slow, calming breaths to calm himself down, Rei happened to glance up at a door only a few feet away, wide open, and leading to what seemed to be a storage room. He shook his head and gingerly got to his feet, brushing off his arms before spinning his head around at the sound of storming footsteps and shouting voices. "Ugh. Shit," he cursed, narrowing his eyes at the three followers. The three familiar faces. The only three he could rely on from this point further. He looked around and, seeing it as his only chance, motioned for Nik, Cyrus, and Ghost to follow him into the lit-up storage room before shutting the door.

Rei was content in hiding away in here for the scientists to leave, but something managed to catch hiis eye. Timeless: Project Sequel, a document was titled. He raised an eyebrow and rummaged through the box, pulling the document out and scanning through it, his eyes going wider the more he read. He couldn't finish more than the first two paragraphs before he had to sit down on one of the other nearby boxes, staring out ahead of him. "You, look at this," he mumbled, handing the document over to Ghost. He didn't know what to think of it. He didn't know what to think at all.

--

Statix

Meanwhile, Statix was feeling pretty pissed off with the world. He'd gone through three rooms and managed to conk out two scientists who dared getting in his way--powers or no powers--before ending up where he was now. He knew he couldn't just escape. Not yet anyway. He had no idea where the others were--Reivy, Nikolas, Psycho and Sane-O. He didn't care in all honesty. If they were dead, that was just fine with him. He didn't need their help escaping, although it was obvious to him that someone was causing some chaos somewhere in the building with all the scientists running around. He couldn't take them all, not in his restrained condition, so he'd had to hide a few times now. Each time came too close for comfort.

Statix hid behind a hall as a few scientists walked calmly by, so indulged in their conversation that they totally missed his presence. "Do you think it's about time we check up on Ace One?" one female scientist asked with a coldly casual tone to her voice.

The other scientist, a man, shook his head. "Nah, the drug shouldn't be worn off yet. I'm getting hungry though. How about lunch?" He gave her a wry smirk and a suggestive nudge in the arm, to which she replied with a scoff and a turn of the head, trying her hardest not to let the man see the smile creeping up her face. It still wasn't pretty. Statix would never think of her as a pretty woman. She was just cold. Nasty.

"I guess I can make the time," the woman replied airily. The man laughed and put an arm around her as they both started off down the hall and out of sight.

Statix watched after them with a sneer. How grotesque, he thought with a scoff and a turn of his heel in the other direction. Couples were disgusting. Love in itself was disgusting. There was no time for those sorts of indulgencies when there was stuff needed to be accomplished. And anyway, were they so oblivious to the outside world that they had no idea about the chaos going on around them? He shook his head to his own thought, letting himself wander off to the question of what an Ace was. This was the first time he'd heard about anything like that. He was curious now. He looked around himself and decided to go in the only way the two scientists could of come from--an open oak door. He came to the sight of something he wasn't at all expecting when he stepped inside, having to pause in his surprise for a moment, blinking at the motionless figure on the gurney.

He cautiously walked around the figure, but calmed when he realized it was only a young person, a teenager. Of course, the person looked years younger than Statix actually was, but for the moment, they both looked the same age. "Weird," he mumbled aloud, feeling less wary and more bored. The teen had red hair and was probably in a lot of pain from the look twisted on his face. But, his hands were free, and that was enough for Statix. That automatically meant this person was useful. Statix kicked the bottom of the gurney, knocking it out of place as it wheeled into the wall on the other side of the small, square room. He strode over to the person once again, staring down at them in hopes that they'd be waking up. "Wakey-wakey."

Rail Hill

Rai ignored the words. He was tired. He didn't much want to get up now. Or at all. Not ever. Yes, that would be nice, if he could sit here forever and not be bothered by anyone. He could be king of his own word. More than he already was, anyway. Just that there would be no other people telling him that he was wrong or any such thing. He did remember the names though. And what they could do. He remained utterly silent for a moment, his own mind whirring sleepily like crickets or a computer turning off. His head sort of lolled to one side, like he was sleeping, but he revived himself, pulling up into a higher spirit. Of course he couldn't stay here. There was chaos to create, yes? And also things to steal. Perhaps he could find another pen to salvage the spring from. Or maybe more than one pen. He could have a whole collection of springs if he liked. Well, if he could find them.

A quiet nonsense song was playing inside his head, about fishes and lovers and other such fiction. As he reached out to the mind of the one who had spoke, the Takuya, the final notes of his mind song were sent, more of an accident than anything, before Rai's message began. Yes. I am mute. No. I don't know If there is anything else I can do, and then to himself, not realizing that the other could hear it as well because he was still in contact with the young manā€™s mind, he added, But considering, there probably is.
and then, after a slight pause in which Rai lifted his head from his knees, he continued with, Where would you go? Rai didnā€™t even know where he was at the moment, the memories his brain had on easy access were all blurry and confused. So not only did he not know where he was, he didnā€™t know how to exit the place. The boy let himself slump sideways, his head turning to look at the two as his shoulder met the ground. His body felt like half melted jello. Not the most pleasant feeling. He really did want to get up... but it was so much work. And he was too tired to work. Someone else should do it so he didn't have to. Ah, that was a genius idea.

In the darkness, from his angle slumped on the floor, he could see the eerie illusion the red eyes of the two cast. He blinked at it, trying to make sense of the strange sight, but then found that he didn't actually care much. Much for the two either. The angry one and the one who asked too many questions. What did he care? Duh, Rai was mute. Did this... what was his name? Takuya just want to make Rai admit his own weakness. Yes, that was probably it. Should Rai be angry? Eh... He was feeling to lethargic to get angry. Oh well. Perhaps he could later. Exact some sort of revenge. That would be a pleasant pastime.

A small amused smile curved the pale boy's lips for a moment before they fell back to their previous state of slightly sour apathy. He should get up now. He couldn't have these two thinking he was weak unless it was by his own devising for some greater plan. He was strong, and they should know it too. With much effort and a silent huff of exertion, Rai lifted his body up from it's position on the ground to a sitting state, then up again, using the wall from assistance. From there he took a few steps, finger coming to his mouth again. Damn habit. His knees were shaking slightly in protest, they were not done resting. How long had it been since he's stretched his legs? how long had it been since he last woke, last moved at all? How long had it been since his mind had been painless, not drowning in this sudden greater existence outside of himself. Where was the warm comfort of his once singular mind?

He'd have to take advantage of this power though, entrap it for his own benefit. he couldn't let it catch the better of him no matter what. The slight body wobbled its way to the door like a fawn taking its first steps, not looking back at the other two. His hand caught the door handle, and he paused, leaning his head against the only thing barring him from free terror and chaos filled reign of the building. For that was what he'd do. He wasn't sure how yet, but that would come.

Later.

Nikolas Ze

How can you trust them? They tried to kill you. Did it count as talking to yourself when you were really just talking to a voice in your head? It was hard to tell. All Nikolas knew was that this voice was talking to him as he watched the others, jumping every few seconds at some sound that he swore he heard, but apparently the others didn't, because they didn't do anything. You're jumpy for a reason, brother. You know they'll betray you. Nikolas swallowed as he heard more voices, but these were scientists and Rei looked a little jumpy when he heard them too, so it made Nikolas feel a little better. I'm not insane, Nikolas told himself. There was laughter, but the others didn't hear it. You? Insane? You've been insane since the day Timeless was created! That wasn't true. Nikolas was sane. After all, he was able to keep himself alive. But not others. Never others. And that's why they don't trust you; because, in the end, you'll fail.

"It's not true," Nikolas muttered to himself, narrowing his eyes. He barely realized they came to an intersection until he almost ran into Rei, barely stopping himself. You're such a clutz, Nikolas. Always have been, always will be. That wasn't his brother. His brother wouldn't say such things. And besides, his brother was dead. Not with us. Six feet under. No, I'm a burned corpse, rotting in an abandoned city. Did you ever visit me, after you killed me? I didn't kill you, Nikolas thought as they started walking again. He didn't really pay attention to what was going on, just letting his feet move and doing his best not to run into the person in front of him (Rei).

If Nikolas had been paying attention, he would have seen the growing stress that was killing Rei, the fact that the teen was breathing in and out like he was hyperventilating. You killed me, left my body, and now you wonder why I'm haunting you. He laughed again, cold and heartless. You're such a bad brother, Nikolas. It's no wonder that Katie died... Nikolas felt himself freeze, which was probably a good thing because Rei ran into a door not three seconds later. "I don't know what I'm doing!" The teen shouted, the words barely registering with Nikolas. Katie... That wasn't my fault! That's different! The voice didn't come back. Instead, Nikolas faintly heard shouting. Shit, more scientists, Nikolas thought. Rei looked at the three, regarding them carefully before motioning for them to all hide in the storage closet/room.

"You, look at this," Rei said, handing something to Ghost. Nikolas didn't see what it was, but it looked like a document of some kind. Nikolas glanced around the room and decided to grab a few boxes, stacking them up against the door. It would help give them time to think, in case the scientists decided to open the door and see what had happened. It didn't take very long; if he was good at anything, it was lifting heavy objects. Brute strength got him places, though he was pretty skilled when he had to be.

"What is it?" Nikolas asked, walking over to Ghost and glancing at the papers. It was a jumble of words that didn't really make much sense. Something about re-creating Timeless, other people with powers... Nikolas didn't think it was possible. And besides, why would anyone willingly create another Timeless? Didn't they see what happened last time? It was complete and utter chaos. People were killed, hurt. Changed. Nikolas felt his head shoot up when something slammed against the door. There were muffled shouted, and he felt his blood run cold.

"Rei, grab Cyrus and find another way out of here. Ghost, go with them." Nikolas rolled his neck and glanced around, grabbing some random metal object from a nearby box. He had no idea what it was, but it looked like it would make good shrapnel. "I'll keep 'em occupied." It won't work. You'll only let your friends down. Shut up and let me do what I do well. "It's time I use my powers again," Nikolas said as his eyes started glowing, another thump hitting the door.

Airm Fola

It hurt. What hurt? Everything. It felt like his blood was on fire, and like someone had just ripped him apart, only keeping him alive to see how much it hurt. Which was a lot. Needless to say, Airm had no idea what was going on. He was sitting around, waiting for something to happen, when he just started twitching. Then it felt like he was having a spasm, limbs jerking all over the place. It was a miracle he made it to the gurney without killing himself, and then he just collapsed onto it, letting the burning run over him. It was hard to say whether it was all in his head or not, because his eyes were closed in concentration, trying to think of puppies or hot people or people in pain; anything to distract himself. It wasn't really working, and all of his thoughts just became variations of ow... Oh shit this hurts... Fucking Americans... It didnā€™t make sense. What the hell was in that shot? Why did it feel like his body was breaking apart, bursting at the seams?

It probably did not help that someone had the audacity to kick the gurney, sending it flying across the room, and jolting Airm fully awake. There was a blurry shape above him, forming something looking like a teenaged male that Airm didnā€™t recognize. "Wakey-wakey." Airm felt his eyes fly open, coughing up some blood. Strangely enough, it felt good to cough up the red liquid.

ā€œWho the hell are you?ā€ Airm asked, glaring at the teenager. Suddenly his body shook and he coughed up more blood, some of it landing on the teenager. ā€œIf you had anything to do with thisā€¦ā€ Airm sat up, narrowing his eyes. Suddenly the blood formed some kind of rope, twisting around the stranger and holding him up in the air. Almost immediately after, the blood fell to the ground, the sudden effort of using newfound powers taking its toll on Airm. ā€œWhat the hellā€¦? What happened?!ā€ Airm screamed, getting off the gurney. Now that some of the blood was gone from his body, he felt better. It was strange. Usually he felt worse after bleeding so muchā€¦ Not like he really minded, of course.

Airm staggered to his feet, backing away from the stranger, before finally collapsing to the ground a few yards away. He looked at the black-haired teen with a gaze of mistrust, wanting answers but not sure the best way to get them. Maybe I should try that againā€¦ Airm didnā€™t want to faint, though, and he felt weak enough. Controlling his bloodā€¦ That had been a shock. Was it some kind of weird power the scientists gave him? Then what was the shot?

Airm didnā€™t know, but the shot was a specially made mixture to continue the creation of blood cells, even when the body didnā€™t need the extra blood. In essence, it meant that he could use his powers much more often, and that if he didnā€™t it would cause his body to fill with blood. He would start coughing up the red liquid until he used his powers again, or his body removed the excess liquid.

ā€œWhat the hell do you want?ā€ Airm asked, coughing up some more blood.

Kiku Suzuki

Bored. That was the only thing Kiku could fully comprehend at the moment. Pure boredom. He had stared at the wall, and counted all the dots and indents in them; 210,456,021 total. He counted his breaths for some time, but he lost count after 5,000. Hell he had activated his powers for a bit and snooped on people. Sadly, nothing interesting; if you count some people breaking out and talking not interesting, that is.

Kiku yawned widely and flung his arms in the air with an exasperated growl. Dammit, he was boredā€¦wellā€¦there was a door that screamed OPEN MEā€¦even though he shouldnā€™tā€¦

Kiku shook his head and lay back down on his bed with a sigh. Well he was a test subject; he didnā€™t expect to be treated like royalty here. But would it kill them to give him something to do? Apparently so, since the only thing that Kiku has that was remotely interesting was a piece of dust, or at least it looked like dust. Eh, whatever, he wasnā€™t touching it.

And there went his momentary session of no boredom. Fuck, it was back. No, go away boredom. You arenā€™t wanted; you donā€™t belong here.

Okay; if you donā€™t want to be bored; letā€™s thinkā€¦what did that lady mean by ā€œTimelessā€ being recreated?

Kiku shifted on his bed so that his head was hanging off the side, his headphones in danger of falling off his head. His toes wiggled in his shoes, the same ones he had worn when he was kidnappedā€¦

I wonder how my family is doingā€¦wait! No. Timeless think aboutā€¦UGH I donā€™t wanna think dammit! He groaned out loud and fell off his bed, landing on his head with a low thud.

ā€œOuchā€¦owieā€¦dammitā€¦yuckā€¦hurtsā€¦ā€ he mumbled, tears springing to his eyes as he rubbed the now tender spot on his head as he pouted to no one in particular.

Too bored to just stay in his room; Kiku poked his head out and scurried out of the slightly open door, skidding around corners and hiding behind walls when the scuffle of footsteps came his way.

He thought about using his powers, but he didnā€™t want to risk running into something because he wasnā€™t pay attention. Sound waves can kind of obstruct your vision, if you didnā€™t know that.

Kiku was walking cautiously around the building when he heard more footsteps. Panicked, he stood there for a few breathless seconds before grabbing onto a wall and swinging him self to hide in the corners. The people walking by wouldnā€™t be able to see him until they were past the wall, the then he was only visible if they happened to turn back. However, if someone from the opposite direction walked by, he was in clear view.

So he held his breath and prayed to a non-existent God that he would not be found. When the two scientists walked by him, Kiku spotted a faint blush on the girlā€™s face, while the guy was smiling slightly, as if he has accomplished something. Most likely getting her to go on a date with him.

Loveā€¦that shit sucks. he thought with almost a snarl, Love just gets you hurt in the end, why bother?

When the couple had passed a safe distance away for Kiku to make his escape, he sighed and took off his headphones, cringing in physical pain at the mass of sounds that assaulted his sensitive ears. Walking so close to the wall that he was basically pressed against it, Kiku was able to summon his powers and silence the noise to absolutely nothing. All that he could hear was his own breathing and heart thumping in his chest. The sound waves floated happily in midair, all the colors reflecting in the boyā€™s pale blue eyes. Walking farther from the wall, he focused on the sounds around the area he was in, a smile on his lips as he watched each sound wave blink out of his view, like fireflies turning off their lights.

Soon the only color that was left was violets and pinks. None of the sounds seemed interesting at first, until he heard someoneā€™s footsteps. Kiku tensed, ready to duck and hide behind the nearest thing in sight. However, the footsteps slowed and Kiku heard a door opening. Curious, he quickened his pace and spotted the guy going into an open room. the door was made of oak, not that it really mattered. He stood there for a little bit; not sure if he should walk in or just go back to his roomā€¦

ā€¦back to the boredom? No way in hell. Heā€™d risk his chances of being brutally murdered in that room than going back to his own. Hell, if he was murdered then he wouldnā€™t have to life anymore. Sinceā€¦you knowā€¦he would be dead.

With that happy thought in his mind, Kiku dismissed his powers and pranced into the room with a smile on his face. He was prepared to meet his death, not to see some guy be suspended in air by a thick, red bond. As soon as he was in the air, the rope, and the guy, fell back on the ground. Though the rope didnā€™t stay a rope. Instead it turned into a liquid that looked a lotā€¦likeā€¦blood.

A blood rope? Ah, that is gross Kiku gagged loudly and shuddered, catching the attention of both guys in the room.

There was one person who was not too far from the bed thing, yet a safe distance from the other guy. He had multi-colored eyes, one blue and one reddish, with a sexy mop of auburn colored hair.

Heā€™sā€¦hotā€¦ was Kikuā€™s first thought, before his eyes changed to the guy who was not even seconds ago, in midair, held by blood

Blood red eyes. That was the first thing Kiku took in from the stranger staring at him. Blood red eyesā€¦and blue and white hair.

Kiki stood there, his headphones on his head, eyes wide in shock as his gaze flicked from the sexy multi-colored eyes guy, to the blood red eyes guy.

He shuffled his feet and put on a shy smile, worried now. If he wanted to die, he did not feel like dyingā€¦by blood.

ā€œHello? Umā€¦did I interrupt something?ā€ he asked tentatively, ā€œSorry if I did. I umā€¦wellā€¦I snuck out of my roomā€¦and well I saw him,ā€ he pointed that the blue and white haired boy, ā€œcome in hereā€¦so I followedā€¦himā€¦inside hereā€¦ā€ His feet shuffled again and he looked down, hating awkward silences.

ā€œIf youā€™re gonna kill me, can you hurry up?ā€ he blurted out, eyes downcast, ā€œI donā€™t like it hereā€¦I donā€™t want to be hereā€¦ā€

Just shut up and pray you donā€™t say another stupid thing, idiot! he chided himself as he slowly backed out of the room, hell bent on fleeing back to his safe haven of a room.

Cyrus Zervais

ā€œCome on, we have to hurry,ā€ Nikolas told Ghost. A few words which the copy had to agree with. They hadnā€™t the time for petty feuds between each other. They had to escape. He glanced sideways at Nikolas and nodded before following Rei and Cyrus, Nikolas following a few steps behind.

They continued to walk for a little while, it seemed to be that no one knew the way out. Ghost would have opened his mouth to protest -- and possibly tease -- the fact that they were getting no where. He didnā€™t though because that would mean that they would tell him to lead the way. Ghost would just get them all lost more. He never was good with directions, neither was Cyrus for that matter. Speaking of which, the boy had let go of Rei now and was dawdling just behind him. He could sense that the other was nervous and scared but at the same time annoyed at the fact that he was leading. Being hyper-sensitive to emotions, Cyrus knew all of what Rei was feeling but he could do nothing to help. He hadnā€™t the stable mind to put himself forward as leader; Ghost didnā€™t seem to want to lead and Nikolas seemed a little jittery. So Rei was the most sane choice at this moment.

Rei said something under his breath with no one seemed to catch. Nikolas also muttered something, but that was incoherent. It seemed as if that Ghost and Cyrus were the sanest people there now and that was saying something. They halted at an intersection, looking both ways before continuing right. Another intersection and Rei was beginning to loose it. Cyrus took a step back giving the guy some room to breath. He backed into Ghost who wrapped his arms around Cyrus from behind. The two of them were the same height, meaning that they were both relatively short. Rei suddenly span on his heels, banging straight into an open door and falling on his ass. Ghost let out a muffled laugh as Rei tried to compose himself.

ā€œI don't know what I'm doing!ā€ Rei groaned out the most truthful words he ever spoke. He kicked the door shut in anger, letting a loud echo race down the halls. Ghost rolled his eyes, that would easily get the attention of the scientists here. And how right he was. Voice and footsteps could be heard from behind them. Cyrus began shivering slightly, whimpering under his breath making Ghost pull him just that little bit closer. Rei got to his feet, spinning around and narrowing his eyes at the three of them. Ghost returned the glare without a moment between. He motioned for them to follow, leading them into a storage room and shutting the door a little quieter than he did the last.

The room was cramped, as a closet would be. However they were able to move around a little between each other. All around the room were boxes of paper work and various items of stationary. Nothing which any of them needed to concern themselves with. That didnā€™t stop something catching Reiā€™s eye. He pried a document out of one of the boxes and began reading, eyes widening as the moved along the printed paper. Rei probably only read a quarter of what was on the page before sitting down on one of the boxes. He stared ahead with a blank expression, one which confused Ghost.

ā€œYou, look at this,ā€ Rei muttered, handing over a document labelled ā€˜Timeless: Project Sequel.ā€™ Ghost let out a short gasp before reading the document. Cyrus attempted to get a look at the thing but Ghost turned away from him; he didnā€™t need the innocent boy seeing something like this. The document was speaking about an organizationā€™s efforts to turn the whole world into a giant Timeless.

ā€œWhat is it?ā€ Nikolas asked, glancing over Ghostā€™s shoulder. Usually he would push him away, but he was much too engrossed in the document to pay any attention to Nikolas. They were trying to re-create Timeless, including using their own DNA to give helpless children powers. That was probably the most intriguing part; they were using their own DNA to give more people powers. In a way Ghost wanted to know the results, but at the same time he was furious. Finally he was brought back to the real world when something slammed into the door, followed by muffled shouting.

ā€œRei, grab Cyrus and find another way out of here. Ghost, go with them.ā€ Nikolas ordered, grabbing some sort of metal object from nearby. ā€œI'll keep 'em occupied.ā€ Ghost merely blinked at him. ā€œIt's time I use my powers again.ā€ As if that was a good idea, who knows what the scientists had did to them. Ghost couldnā€™t manage anything but a nod. He glanced around at the surroundings, finding no other exit. He threw the document behind him at Rei and stepped forward to Nikolas.

ā€œIf youā€™re going to risk your life to ensure our escape then let me help you.ā€ he smirked faintly, watching the door move with each bang. ā€œIt doesnā€™t matter if Iā€™m hurt or killed, Iā€™ll just come back later on.ā€ He glanced to Nikolas and smiled. A rarity for Ghost but he couldnā€™t help it. ā€œBesides, thereā€™s no other way out of here.ā€ He glanced behind him at Cyrus and Rei, a serious expression back on his face. ā€œReiā€¦ when the door opens, take Cyrus and run. Me and Nikolas will hold off the scientists, okay?ā€ he didnā€™t wait for a reply before moving his gaze onto Cyrus. ā€œGo with Rei.ā€ The blonde silently nodded. ā€œDonā€™t you dare stray away from him.ā€ Though Ghostā€™s tone was harsh, you could easily pick out the compassion behind it.
