Introduction
The water gently spilled around my feet, making me colder than what I already was. I take another step into the ocean. The coarse sand between my toes are unimportant, enough to be ignored, but still the sensation will stay with me.
Another step.
My jeans cling to my skin as if it longs to be it. My shirt is yet unaware of the dangers that are in store for it. The sharks might get me if the water doesn’t.
It’s strange how you start thinking of life when you are walking to the end that you had set out for yourself. How you think of the people you left behind and how it wasn’t your story you will be telling, but someone else’s.
Someone you might love, or someone you might not know at all.
His name is simple and easy to remember, his heart always pure and his voice caring yet frightening at times. Life cannot be easy when you are him or when you are with him.
Now, as my shoulders are soaked in the salty water and my nose just touches the familiar scent, I remember the day I met the demon.
It was late afternoon, June. The sun was shining in through the large windows of the cafe where I sat looking out at the world and sipping on a cup of coffee.
“Delilah , close the doors, we’re locking up soon.” My mother called from behind the counter. She was putting the blueberry muffins away and eyeing the people that were walking out of the cafe late.
She liked closing early on Saturdays, it was the day that she visited the graveyard. I got up out of my chair, leaving my coffee behind and ignoring the shadow that walked past the window. After unclipping the doors I slowly swung them into place. One by o...
“Are you closing already?” The shoe in the door asked with a calm and confident tone. I looked up at him slowly, noticing the dark eyes and strange hairstyle first.
I turned my head, my long hair falling where it wishes. My mother already had her apron off and was standing and looking at me impatiently.
She threw one of her hands in the air, noticing a rather pleading look in my eyes. “I’m going, Delilah , you lock up when this...” Her hand waved at the air towards the guy as I pulled the door away and he stepped inside. “...Guy leaves.” She finished her sentence with her thick accent and gave me a smile.
I closed the doors with ease, knowing someone always stays late in the kitchen. I won’t be alone with a stranger.
“Coffee please, two sugars and no milk.” The guy said with an alluring smile as he sat down next to where I sat.
The water is actually nice now. It’s soothing and promises to rid me of all my evils – like it’ll cleanse me. My hair was completely wet and floating in the water like seaweed. Whatever happens to me, weather the sharks get me or the water, I will still regret opening the door to the dark eyed guy.
‘Smile and nod’ like mother always taught me to do when I was nervous and didn’t know what to say.
“Dee, why aren’t you going with your mother? And who is that?” The boy that works for my mother, Jonathan, asked rather curtly. He had a frown on his forehead and his hands on his hips. Johnathan has had his eye on me since we moved here. He’s my age.
“He came in late, she said I should lock up.” My ‘squeaky voice’ explained without allowing my lips to form a smile. He thinks I don’t know that he has liked me for nearly a year now.
“You from around here?” I asked the guy as I set his coffee down for him and took in my seat. My coffee was still warm, a sip proved it. He turned his lean, muscular frame to me and smiled his charming smile, one that would become too familiar.
“I am, yes. How about you?” He returned the question as he searched me with his eyes.
“No...” A simple reply.
“Didn’t think so.” He said as he took a sip of his coffee, pursing his lips and slowly blinking to say that he was enjoying it.
Delilah looked down at her clothes. She did look a little fancy for this plain town. That made the guy chuckle.
“I’m Alexander, nice to meet you Delilah.” Alexander said as he extended his hand to me and smiled. His leather jacket creaked under his arms as he moved.
Again I smiled and nodded, mentally cursing my mother for practically shouting my name.
Alexander started a conversation about the old libraries here, then went on to tell me about the history of the town. It was pretty gory and he seemed to be withholding some information.
“Dee...” A voice broke into our conversation. My hair had fallen over my face and Alexander was about to reach in and move it out of the way.
My head turned to look at Jonathan who stood a few feet away from us, his hands on his hips again. I could see that he had gotten lost in his work.
“It’s late, you should go home.” He said sternly, furrowing his brows.
I nodded and got up, Alexander following me. After opening the doors again he stepped out and eyed Jonathan who was keeping a watchful eye on me.
“Will I see you again?” he asked as he shrugged his hands into his pockets. Alexander seemed to be standing up straight permanently, making me wish I had a better posture.
I thought for a moment, I barely knew him but it was hard to resist him. “You can come to the cafe again on Wednesday if you want to go to a party with me?” I suggested with an excited smile.
He hesitated before eventually smiling too. “Sure.” He said before he turned and walked away.
‘Demons’
The ‘Demon’ does not really refer to actual demons; it is more of a description of what the people are like. They have more anger than usual people, causing them to be more edgy and upset about things. Their eyes are dark and tend to go completely black when they feed or when they are really angry.
Yes, feed. These creatures are similar to vampires, they feed on blood. But they are not made, they are born and they do not have fangs, just really, really sharp teeth. They can walk in the sunlight and are not as sensitive to it, though their eyes tend to hurt if they don’t wear sunglasses. They can live on human food, but they need blood to survive as well. They have heightened senses and are somewhat faster than normal humans. They cannot usually control people’s minds, but are said to infiltrate your dreams and to then have influence on it. There are a few, very rare cases where demons have actually succeeded in ‘telling’ people what to do, they then followed through exactly and later explained that it felt like they were possessed or that they would cause their loved ones to get hurt if they didn’t do what they were told. Demons are somewhat immortal as they stop aging at some point but they are still not as hard to kill. The easiest way to get rid of them is decapitation. Small wounds will heal within days, but larger wounds will cause death. They can sometimes, depending on how old they are, move objects with their minds (Telekinesis). Some older than 500 years have even taught themselves how to levitate or fly.
Demons are often hunted due to draining humans of their blood or terrorising towns and villages.

Alexander looked at the time, noting that two minutes have passed since he last looked at his wristwatch. He had just gotten home from school and was now looking forward to seeing that girl again. The whole day he had been wondering about her and the party, but tried to convince himself to not meet up with her. He thought it would be better that way.
Alex had been keeping his eye open for the cute, big eyed girl at school all week, but he didn’t find her. He wondered if she was hiding in the library, or in a classroom, maybe with a boyfriend she had, or maybe she wasn’t in the same school at all. Alex saw the other guy around, the one from the cafe that had been so protective of Delilah. He had gotten glares from this guy since Monday.
Alex chuckled to himself before he pulled his jacket off and threw in over the back of the chair in his room. He remembered the look on the guy’s face, wondering what his big problem was. Alex had no messages on his phone, he checked the time there too. May had been very quiet lately. She would usually be all over him by now.
The crazy thing is that Alexander would have actually considered her if he hadn’t met someone better. He ran his hand through his hair and sat down in the chair, looking out the window. It will never be easy to be a monster, knowing that he could hurt anyone at any time. Delilah was worth checking out, so he would know who she was, where she came from. She stirred up his curiosity over her.
Alex looked at the time again. He smirked a little when he saw that almost ten minutes has passed. He reached over to his side and pulled a book closer, hoping that it would make the next two hours go by faster.

She crumpled into the love-seat in the corner and pulled a blanket over herself. Lazy and tired, the brunette rubbed her face and hands into the soft fabric, releasing a sigh. To the naked eye, she had seemed extremely indifferent in the duration of the day. In truth, however, Delilah's mind was alive with commotion. Her mom had invited a bunch of teenagers from the local high school and university to come to her eighteenth birthday party. Most of the people who had been invited were regulars at the coffee shop and she knew them to some extent, but aside from their names and their favorite types of drinks, she knew nothing about them.
Oh, and then there was Alexander.
The mysterious, kind, exceptionally handsome boy who had visited the coffee shop a couple of days earlier was coming to the party as well. She had actually invited him. What had she been thinking? Delilah squealed quietly into her pillow, overcome with both excitement and horror. She had even gone to the extent of asking him to meet him here, at the coffee shop, whereupon she would take him back to her house. She blinked. Suddenly, the brunette sat up straight, startled. "I didn't tell him it was my party," she realized allowed, and a whole new wave of emotions poured over her head.
Thoughts scrambled, Delilah rubbed her thumb over the purple band-aid that laced the inside of her elbow. Earlier this morning, she had gotten her blood drawn at the local blood bank, something she did often. A light smile upturned her lips. The employees at the blood bank were always greatly thankful for her donations - after all, she was one of only four people in the whole town who had AB-. The thought of being able to help others lightened the anxiety of the party from her shoulders. At least she'd done one good thing today. Maybe that good deed would make the night a good one.

As the book thudded to the floor Alexander got up and dragged his hand through his hair out of frustration. The book was quite new and it looked promising, but he was frustrated with the all too familiar turn it was taking. Besides that, the book reminded him too much of other books he has read before. It was like no one could write a book based solely on their own ideas.
Alexander looked at his watch, seeing that three hours have passed since he started reading, instead of the wanted two.
“Damnit.” He hissed and pulled his shirt off. It was crazy how the smallest things could affect his levels of frustration, strange but familiar. Alexander tossed his shirt at his laundry basket and pulled a new one out of his closet. When his head was halfway into his shirt and only one arm found a hole, the sound of his cell phone ringing filled the room. Alex grabbed it off the couch and before he knew what he was doing, technology proved to him yet again how he barely knew how to use it.
“Hello?” He said with frustration in his voice. He knew who phoned and she would know why he wouldn’t have answered.
“Hey Al!” May chimed from the other side of the phone. Her happy voice made Alexander even edgier.
“I can’t talk now, is this important?” He said curtly as he put his sunglases on and grabbed his jacket.
“Yes,” She lied happily. “I don’t know what to wear to this party tonight.” She added, he could hear her pout.
“You’ll figure that out, I have to go.” He replied and hung up. Alex locked the door behind him and started walking towards the cafe, pulling his jacket on as he did so.
Alex pushed the door of the cafe open and sat don where he sat the Saturday he was here. He had already scanned the area to see if Delilah was there yet.

Once finished, the brunette retired back to the lounge and, grabbing a change of clothes, headed off into the bathroom. She changed into a nicer shirt - a matte black that cut off at her elbows and dipped low around her neck - and a pair of acid-wash jeans with rips along the front of the thighs. The party was supposed to be casual; hopefully she wouldn't feel out of place.
There was a twinkle.
Delilah looked up, recognizing the sound of the door hitting the bell as it opened. Momentarily forgetting that she was waiting for someone, she headed out to great them. As soon as she stepped into the room, she immediately halted, chocolate eyes finding Alexander's face. She chewed her lip. Okay. Okay. "Hi," she said, voice on the shy side. She approached delicately, unsure of herself. "I wasn't sure if you'd actually come," she admitted quietly and ran her fingers through her hair.

Alexander got up from the chair and stood up straight, looking down a little at Delilah. “Hey...” He greeted her as sweetly as he could. Without thinking, or trying to stop himself, Alex’s eyes dropped from her eyes to her clothes. He had always been taught that it was inappropriate to stare at ladies, and had no idea why he was now. To make things a little worse, her scent flowed around her strongly and he could smell it. Especially after she combed her fingers through her hair.
“You look nice.” He said in defense of himself staring at her. Alexander’s eyes were again focusing on her big and dark eyes. He smiled again, not knowing what to say or do next. Yes, even after being alive, immortal, for so long he still has no idea of what to say to a beautiful girl. – especially one that smells so rare.
“So...” he started, looking around the cafe this time. Delilah’s mother was keeping an eye on them. Alexander flashed a friendly smile before continuing his sentence. “Are you ready?” He asked as he took a small step backwards and gestured towards the door.
Alexander was nervous for many reasons. First he was unsure of whose house he will be and, second was if he would actually be spending time with Delilah, the third reason was obvious – May would scare her off if she was there. Alexander would have crossed his fingers now to wish she was at a different party. The last, most important reason was that he didn't know if he would be able to control his anger or his thirst.

"Thanks," she somehow managed to breathe out. The brunette, unable to find the appropriate words, rubbed her arm quietly, thumbing the purple bandaid every now and then. She nodded briefly in response to his question and was about to head towards the door when her mom cleared her throat behind her. Tense, she glanced at the woman over her shoulder, fearing she'd say something unnecessarily embarrassing.
"I except everyone to be gone by midnight," her mother said kindly with a smile. "Don't worry about cleaning up. We can work on it together in the morning. I'll be back by around one. Girls night out," she added in explanation.
Delilah nodded again, relieved. "Let's go," she said quietly, tugging briefly at Alexander's sleeve before heading out of the door. Her house was only down the street, about a five minute walk or a two minute drive. But it seemed so far at that moment. So very, very far.

The sky was clear tonight, but the possibility of it raining later was rather great. Alexander could smell it in the air as they walked to the house where the party would be.
He glanced at Delilah, smiling as he did so, then looked back at the ground and stuffed his hands into his pockets.
“Where do you go to school?” He asked her outright. “I kind of kept an eye out for you, but I never saw you around.”
Maybe a little too honest.
Alexander looked at Delilah again, keeping his eyes in hers this time. In a way he was trying to read her or to figure out who she was. He would like to know all her secrets, so there is probably no harm in telling her his.

There were houses coming up in the distance as they continued walking. Alexander always believed he was a fast walker, not only because his species was faster, but because he always felt rushed with his life.
How silly does that sound? He is immortal to an extent, but he feels like he I rushing past his life. That might be because he has never had anyone to spend that time with.

"Where do you go to school?" Alexander suddenly asked, striking up conversation. "I kind of kept an eye out for you, but I never saw you around."
The brunette found herself chewing on her lip, both flattered and embarrassed. "I'm home schooled," she replied with a shy shrug. She sent a timid smile in her direction before returning her eyes to the road. "I was pushed around at school a bit and my mom was worried, so she pulled me out of school and started teaching me herself. I prefer it, actually. The world is too loud. Even when I'm alone I feel like my senses are overwhelmed." She shrugged again, unsure of her words, anticipating his reaction.
"Ah, that's my house," she said after a minute and pointed in the direction of her home.
The house itself looked big, though in reality it was mostly an illusion. But it was homely and pretty, and that was all that seemed to matter to people who visited. From the direction they were walking, you could see the balcony that led back into her room. All of the lights in the second story were off, but downstairs, light flooded through the windows and silhouettes of party-goers crawled out onto the pavement.
"Thanks for coming to the party," Delilah finally said. "I know it's a little... weird. My mom threw it for me, so I just wanted to invite someone I chose. Sorry if I've made things strange." She bit her lip, looking over at him with big brown eyes.

Alexander could almost feel himself perspiring when he saw all the people. It wasn’t uncommon for him to distance himself from crowds. It’s a good thing he had a glass of blood before he came. It might just be something for him to survive off, but he still craved it and he would still take it if he needed more.
Alexander pursed his lips and nodded. “I assume that it is your birthday party then?” He asked as he gestured to her with his hand. “You should have told me.” He added honestly and thought for a moment before inhaling and trying to suppress his slight frustration. Alexander looked Delilah dead in the eyes.
“What makes you think that you have made anything strange? It’s no big deal.” He smiled and offered her his arm as he shook his head a little.
They were right outside her house. The loud partygoers could be heard distinctly by Alex. He recognized a few voices, May’s included.
“May I walk the birthday girl in?” Alexander only realized how silly he sounded after the question was asked.

Humility burned her cheeks a rosy red. She could sense his frustration; she could almost taste it. When his eyes met hers, she immediately looked away, fearing the situation would take a turn for the worse. How in God's name had she forgotten to tell him that it was her birthday party? Why hadn't she even thought about mentioning it? What a stupid, stupid mistake she had made. But before she could mentally scold herself, he was off to being kind once more. It made her want to melt. There was something strange about him, something unnatural, yet she couldn't put her finger on it. Her mind blanked when he held his arm out for her.
"Y-yeah," she murmured shyly and coiled her arm through his, the purple bandaid on her arm lightly grazing his skin as she did so. "It sounds like they've already started eating the snacks," she said mindlessly. While in her eyes it was a harmless comment, to others it might have sounded strange. How could she have known such a thing? In the very back of her mind, she could hear the light crunching of teeth, the tingle of crumbs, but her mind didn't register this as strange or even unnatural.
"Someone brought alcohol," she added, again more to herself than to him at all. There was a smell in the air, distant and tangy, but she could smell it all the same. Frowning, she headed forward, pulling Alexander along with her.

“Teenagers...” Alexander said under his breath, silently hating on their ability to ruin things with alcohol. He just hoped that Delilah’s party wouldn’t be ruined.
Alexander opened the door before Delilah could as she still pulled him with her. He was unsure if she was eager to get to her party or if she was driven by anger after smelling the alcohol. His senses would have been overwhelmed if he hadn't been living with them for as long as he has now. He felt a slight scratching on the inside of his arm, but didn't want to part with Delilah just to see what was between them. Then there were the sounds, the voices, the music, something breaking in the distance, and the smells. He could smell Delilah next to him, the alcohol in the air, the snacks, the sweaty dancers and the faint smell of blood.
It was the faintest, but it was there.
“Seems like people invited their friends.” Alexander said as he leaned closer to Delilah to whisper into her ear. He feared that his voice wouldn’t otherwise have been heard over the music and loud talking.

The sound of Alexander's voice brought her back to reality. Chills skittered across her skin as his breath tickled her ear and neck. "Yeah," she agreed, turning towards him; then, realizing their closeness, she turned back towards the party, face hot. "It's hot in here," she murmured, brushing her hair from her face.
"Hey, Dee!" Johnathan somehow managed to part his way through the crowd to meet her. He stopped a couple feet away from them, eyes frowning coldly at Alexander. "Let's go dance," he said suddenly. Completely ignoring Alexander's existence, he grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her out towards the crowds of dancing people.
"Ah, wait--" Delilah began, making an effort to stay at Alexander's side, though to no avail. She momentarily got a grasp on his hand before being pulled into the body of the dance floor.

“Have fun.” He mouthed to her with a sure nod.
May was here, Alexander could smell her and her reckless ways. The space between him and ‘Dee’ was welcomed, perhaps he could get rid of May before she realized that there was ‘competition.’ Alexander walked into the kitchen after chuckling at how easily Delilah was sucked into the crowd. This was really a nice house, definitely more of a home.
As Alex poured himself a drink a familiar voice broke through the less noisy kitchen. “I knew you’d be here.” May said as she approached Alex and put a hand on his shoulder.
“And I knew you’d be here.” Alex said as he took a sip of his drink. He was disinterested in the conversation they were about to have. “I didn’t know what to wear, so I wore something I knew you’d like.” May said as she spun around, trying to show her short dress off. “At least I look better than the skank whose party this is.” She said with a shrug.
“I think you should leave.” Alex said without thinking. May was taken aback with what he said. She blinked before giving him a seductive look.
“You can come with me. We can take some fresh food home.” She said as she ran a finger over his cheek and along his jaw.
Alex smirked before swatting her hand away from his face. He looked at May with confusion in his eyes. He would never understand her or her shameless ways of trying to get with him. Alexander walked away from May and tried to disappear into the crowd to get away from her.

"Haven't you been to a party before?" he asked, obviously sensing her discomfort. "I thought you went to a couple while you were still enrolled at the high school."
"I stayed out late at the library to make my mom think I'd gone," she replied with wide, doe-like eyes. "I don't like lots of people."
"Ah, common Dee, just imagine your dancing only with me," he said gingerly. He moved to pull her into his arms, but she pushed him back, unnerved.
"I'm going to get a drink," she said hastily. Turning on her heel, the brunette squeezed through the crowd, trying to get to the edge without causing many problems. Someone bumped into her and she felt the bandaid on her arm tear away, but she was too focused on escaping to realize it. Tripping, suddenly, Delilah stumbled forward, running directly into Alexander. She caught herself with her hands on his chest. Momentarily she was crushed up against him, brown eyes filled with surprise and embarrassment, but in an instant pushed herself off of him, wildly searching for an excuse; only a mangled sorry escaped her throat.

It was only a small needle wound, a barely noticeable red dot, but it led to her vein and her veins were more exposed due to her almost falling. It was probably that or someone else that caused her heart to beat faster and her adrenaline to slowly trickle into her veins. Alexander had a gentle, yet firm grip on her elbow as he pulled her closer and looked from her arm to her eyes again.
He could smell it. She was so close. His eyes darkened a little as the room seemed to become silent and no one else around them was there anymore. It was like Alex had tunnel vision and the blood was waiting at the end.
Alexander was about to pull her arm closer to his mouth from where he held it at their sides, but before the action even went through his head he found himself saying “no” out loud. The people and the sound around him returned as his voice caused himself to snap out of his little trance. Hopefully his eyes were fine now too. The last thing he needed was the town, or hunters, knowing about him.
“No... It’s nothing.” He said to try and fix his audible ‘no.’ Alexander let go of her arm and took a step back.
“Are you alright?” He asked as he looked her over, forcing himself to not look at her arm. “I can take you somewhere else if you’re uncomfortable?” He suggested shortly after, now bending down a little to look at Delilah’s face carefully.

"I'm fine," she replied slowly, examining his eyes. The lighting hadn't allowed her to notice them darken and lighten, but all the same there was something different about them. He almost looked... hungry. It made her stomach flutter, but she wasn't sure why. Before she could ask if he was alright as well, he was speaking again. She listened, a little dazed, before chewing her lip.
Delilah struggled with an answer, face flushed as he bent down slightly to get a better look at her. "Let's go upstairs," she said with completely innocent intentions. Grasping him by the hand, she pulled him after her, weaving through the people with a strange grace that a normal person may not have had. The brunette tugged him along up the stairs and to the lounge in the back. From her pocket she produced a key and unlocked the door - all of the rooms had been locked as a precaution - before pushing into the room.

As Alexander started breathing again, he realized that he had been holding his breath as she was pulling him away from the crowd. He looked around the room, but barely noticed anything around him.
“Thank you.” Alexander said softly, glad that she rescued him from the crowd. It was probably obvious that he was on edge the whole night already. Alexander smiled at Delilah and immediately relaxed; trying to show her that he was comfortable after all.
Delilah was kind of an open book with her lip biting and flustered cheeks. “I’m sorry, when you bumped into me I was taken off guard.” Alexander said honestly, feeling the need to reveal a part of his side of the story. His fingers shifted slightly on her skin as he tried to read Delilah a little more.
After a few quiet seconds he squeezed her hand. “Are you alright?” He asked again as he looked into her big brown eyes. Something must be bothering her. She wouldn’t seek seclusion with a stranger for any reason, would she?
0.00 INK
"Mm," Delilah replied to his gratitude, though was still in a daze from the party. She could feel the blood pounding in her ears against the pulse of the music. It was great to be out of crazy atmosphere. She relaxed when he smiled, feeling as if she'd done at least one right thing in this disastrous night.
His apology surprised her, though she quickly realized he might have been bothered about his mysterious behavior. "No, it's fine," she said quickly, eyes equally as apologetic. "I didn't mean to bump into you. I was trying to get out of the crowd but people were bumping into me left and right." Her stomach fluttered as his fingers lightly brushed skin.
She hadn't realized they were still hand in hand. The brunette averted her eyes from his, strangely nervous. It was suddenly so quiet. Her heart felt so loud, so strained; it pumped harshly, almost hurting. "I'm fine," she breathed, meeting his eyes for only an instant before looking away shyly. Biting her tongue, she slipped her hand out of his grasp and moved across the room to sit on the couch, head lowered slightly in embarrassment. As she sat, she realized for the first time that her band-aid missing. "Oh, when did this fall off?" she murmured, fingering the raw skin where the band-aid had tugged roughly at her skin.

Alexander had to admit to himself that he was a little jealous. This guy got to work with her every day and they probably hung out together as well. But anything is better than a guy who drinks blood to survive. Alexander liked Delilah – it was probably too soon, but he liked her. She seemed suspicious of him though. He should be more careful.
Looking back at the door, he wondered if May was still there. She wouldn’t easily leave especially if she knew she could take some ‘food’ home. Alexander just hoped that she didn’t do anything stupid. May was still very young and also abandoned, left to find her own food. She taught herself how to kill and be careless of others. Alexander guessed that that was part of the reason she couldn’t leave him alone, she didn’t know anyone else like them.
When his gaze shifted to Delilah again, Alexander smiled a brief smile at her.

It was a strange feeling. And what was stranger is that she kind of liked it.
Her eyes returned to him as he looked at the door. The brunette glanced between the door and him, curious. "Did you know someone at the party?" she asked, cocking her head to the side, her dark hair falling slightly in her face. "I mean, if you want to go back down, that's totally fine. I'd rather stay up here, though." She played with her hair in an attempt to distract herself.
(sorry for my shortish post as well haha)

Alexander shook his head and smiled. “I’d rather stay here too, unless you want some privacy.” His eyes searched hers, maybe hoping they would hint for him to stay. “I know a few people, no one as interesting as you though.” Alexander smiled widely at Delilah, this time not looking away from her. He wondered how she would react, if it was too soon to make a pass at her.
He though that he would take his chance. Alexander got up and moved over to Delilah’s side, making himself comfortable on the couch next to her. “You don’t mind, do you?” He asked softly as he sat back and stretched his arms out a little. He wanted her to be okay with him being near her, even if it meant nothing to her.
(We don't have to post as much. it's ok =])

Her eyes followed him as he sat beside her. Her body's immediate response was a near heart-attack. It felt as if her pulse sky-rocketed and blasted off to the moon. She glanced at him once or twice, then shook her head in response to his question. Close to him now, she could smell his scent. It was strong, but not overwhelming, and extremely alluring. It was different from any scent she'd encountered. Only various people she had ever met had a similar scent. How curious.
But she wasn't thinking about that. She was thinking about him. "So much for the party," Delilah said, though there was no disappointment in her voice. She brushed her hair away from her neck, braiding it in an attempt to do something with her hands, which seemed jittery and full of energy. "So you--" she began, though when she looked at him, her breathe caught in her throat. "Nevermind," she squeaked and looked away.

That always stirred at Alexander’s curiosity. He leaned in a little closer to Delilah and captured a stray strand of hair. “Yes?” He said, encouraging her to continue to ask her question or to make her statement. A smile formed on his lips as he neatly tugged the hair in behind her ear.
Delilah’s open neck was irresistible, but luckily Alexander could resist her strong pulse and alluring smell. He only was stronger than what he used to be a few hundred years ago, the most tempting was open wounds or hints of wounds.
Like the mark a needle left on her soft skin.
Alexander made a little gesture with his hand to suggest that he was listening and that it was alright for Delilah to continue with what she was about to say. He would never have thought that it was because he was so close to her that she was shy, it actually made him more confident to be alone with her.

Her head tilted automatically towards his touch as his fingers wrapped around a strand of her hair. She quieted considerably, staring straight forward, chewing her lip, looking as if she was having a war within herself. She had begun to notice this strange, animal-like instinct to get close to him. She wanted to snuggle up against him, feel his warmth, but that was a strange desire that she couldn't understand. If she took a moment to think about it, that instinct wasn't unlike that of a cat who sought the warmth of others. But she didn't think about it. She couldn't focus enough to even attempt to think of it.
The skin around her ear tingled sensitively at the brush of his fingers. Delilah glanced at him, almost mesmerized, before looking away once again. "It's nothing," she said with a light, nervous laugh; and she wasn't lying, for she couldn't even remember what she had wanted to say. Again, there was that cat-like instinct, and this time her body reacted before she could stop herself. She leaned against him, her back lying along the side of his torso, but then in an instant reeled back to where she was sitting and ran a hand through her hair. "Sorry," she said quickly. "I don't know why I did that."

“Why you did what?” He asked her teasingly, his smile still spread across his face. He shifted around in his spot a little before turning the palms of his hands upwards, inviting her closer. His arms opened a little more as well and his smile was stuck on his face.
“This?” He suggested as he took Delilah by her wrists, as gently as his strength allowed, and pulled her a little closer.
“You know, if you don’t ever come back to school, I will go to the coffee shop every day.” Alexander continued his teasing, but he meant what he said. He looked at her with slight curiosity in his eyes. Alexander pulled Delilah a little closer, hoping she wouldn’t fight him or call her large friend that she was dancing with earlier.
