Once we were the hunter, now we are the hunted.
Like the many Jackal of his time, having grown up in the environment where the very peoples who enlisted their aids and fought along their side, former comrades, turned against them, Tevera feels betrayed and deeply disturbed by all the other races. Thus, the Jackals are not easily trusting of people, only time-tested friends or wild Jackals are worth giving up their life for.
Thus, in this sense, Tevera can be seen as cold-blooded to the humans, elves and even magis of this realm as he will watch a pack of wolves chase down a single human with no remorse; he will even feel amusement for this is the path they chose to take. Deeply suspicious of humans have made him a bad companion to travel with. Prone to quick anger and unnecessary violence, Tevera may strike down even a companion, albeit a non-Jackal one.
However, peeling off the layer of distrust and suspicions to humans, Tevera can be a loyal friend and wingman. He would willingly throw himself into the fray of the fiercest of battle, even if it is one of lost causes, in order to simply perish with his friend or simply to attempt to save him. Such bravery could almost be called foolhardiness.
The only piece of notable equipment which Tevera has is the widely-known two handed axe of the Jackals. Such axes display power in the eyes of slow men, for a single thrust through the right spot can cleave a man in two. A well balanced axe, the blades are made of precious steel which are rare in the Hesphett. Ancient symbols are carved unto the blade by long-forgotten shamans for this axe was passed down from his father and beyond. Tevera could only guess at the purpose of the rune, one of which could be for rusting of steel, for this ancient axe has not rusted, yet. The handle of the axe is made of Jackal wood, a tree once found deep within Hesphett, a tree now extinct. The axe never leaves Tevera’s hand, for a loop at the end of the handle attached the axe to the bracelet found Tevera, making him ready for battle at a moment’s notice.
Tevera was born during the early stages of the Reckoning. More specifically, it was during the first year of the Reckoning. Born to two warrior parents, Tevera nominally would have his parents train him in the ways of the warrior until his adulthood from the age of 5 and beyond. However, due to the cursed Magi Guild, his father was forced to leave and fight in the Reckoning, leaving his mother and a few other female warriors to train the next generation of fighters for the Reckoning.
Tevera’s childhood was an eventful one, at the age of 7, he killed his first wolf; the Jackals desperate by this time to end the war and with the loss of so much Jackal blood, young Jackals warriors were thrown into the fray for the survival of the tribe by hunting for food. Many young Jackals died due to inexperience, another blow to the Jackal bloodline.
At the war’s conclusion, Tevera never again saw his father, long dead in some forgotten blasted land where the enemy would spit on his body and curse his soul. The once populous village of his has now become a husk of its former glory. At that time, his mother was still training him in the ways of the warrior when the slave traders started striking the vulnerable dwellings of the once proud Jackal. His mother was killed in such a fight, 5 years after the end of the Reckoning. Tevera could and would not forget this betrayal. Coping as best as he could with what he had learnt, Tevera started to raid the human slave trader convoys at the age of 13. But the village elders and shamans of the tribe saw that it was futile to try and save them at this stage.
They told Tevera to train up and in time, when they sensed that the Reckoning would be nearing, they would send him to do the ultimate revenge on the humans. Freeing the Jackal slaves and returning them to their rightful home. Propelled by this determination, Tevera trained, he is not the best of the Jackals, but he has the heart and that is what matters.
