{History:}

Grant Dorian was born and raised in Carter Falls. But he wasn't born a werewolf, no he was human. Growing up, Grant became best friends with Duncan Cunningham. Grant had no idea about the supernatural happenings in Carter Falls, and what Duncan's family truly was. All he knew was that they were feared and respected. In school, he wasn't particularly good at anything scholastic, but he was a great athlete, even among werewolves. When he graduated high school he sighed up to join the military.

Grant served four tours in Iraq back-to-back, and gained the rank of Corporal. Roughly five years after Duncan became Alpha, Grant took a bullet to his spine. He was paralyzed from the waist down, and honorably discharged. While Duncan was happy that his friend returned home, he felt bad about his new handicap. He had thoughts about turning him, but he wasn't quite sure whether it work, or even if he'd survive the bite. But Grant was attacked by one of the loyalists to Martian, without his permission, as he saw that Grant was a weakness of Duncan's that could be exploited.

Grant was severely injured, and was about to bleed out. Duncan arrived just in time, and in the heat of the moment he bit Grant, and was able to stop the bleeding. The bite turned Grant, and healed him completely, even regaining mobility in his legs. From then on Grant became a member of the Cunningham pack, a member of the family. Grant tracked down the Beta that attacked him, and took his revenge on him, killing him. After that Grant became a bodyguard of sorts to Duncan. He proved to be fairly strong for a newly bitten wolf, and a quick learner to the ways of the supernatural.

After the coup attempt by Martian, Grant was deeply saddened by his friends death, seeing it as his fault for not protecting him. He has vowed not to make the same mistake with Cole.

The jarring buzz of her mobile phone pulled Natalie reluctantly from her sleep. She blinked blearily at the caller ID before answering.

“You’ve reached Natalie,” she said in sing-song voice. “Someone better be bleeding out.”

“It’s Monday,” the familair voice of Grant Dorain informed her.

“The day after Sunday and before Tuesday. Yes, I am familiar with Mondays. Why are you disturbing mine?” She didn’t open shop until mid-mornings on Mondays, which usually meant a bit of a sleep in.

“School goes back today.”

“Well, crap.”

“Yep.”

“I’ll swing by the manor in thirty. Is Max there?”

“Nah. I think he’s at his sister’s.”

“Damn. Well, as long he gets to school on time. The less reason Chasseur has to pay him any attention, the better. Especially when we haven’t confirmed if the guy knows about Max’s turning yet. It’s not wise having the new kid so separated from the pack.”
Not for the first time Natalie wished Duncan was there. Among other things, they’d never really had a chance to discuss the pack’s newest addition before everything went to hell. “Paris is still out there, and a new Alpha hasn’t gone unnoticed by others. We need to be ready.”

“We will be.”

“I hope so. Bye Grant.”

“See ya.”

Sliding from the comfort of her bed Natalie quickly got dressed in a comfy pair of jeans and a light hoodie over her top. She washed her face, brushed her teeth, and combed her fingers through her hair, separating the worst of the tangles, until she could almost claim the curls were ‘artfully mussed’ instead of straight up bed hair. With a pair of sneakers on her feet she went downstairs, the bell on the front door chimed as she pulled it shut behind her, ‘CLOSED’ sign in place, and locked up.
She walked down the street to where her car was parked, thinking of coffee. Even if she got to the manor and the kids had already left for school at least she knew where they kept the coffee, and she still had the key Duncan had given her.

"You know, me being your favorite cousin means a lot less when I'm your only cousin." Cole smirked. "I'm ready for whatever Chasseur throws at me. Hopefully he doesn't actually throw something at me. Or shot at me." Cole would be lying if he said he wasn't bothered by the fact his school's principal is the big daddy hunter around here. It's a bit unnerving for a werewolf. But he knows Darren wouldn't do anything to him unless provoked. But he isn't sure about his kids. He doesn't really know them well, and knows that only one of them is currently in school. His daughter he thinks, but he isn't sure about her feelings to the supernatural, it's not like they're friends or anything.

Cole then heard somebody outside. By the sounds of it, it was the druid Natalie. Cole took a big bite out of his poptart, taking about a quarter of it, before he went to the front door to answer it. He opened the door for Natalie. "Sup?" Cole said barely audible with his mouth full, spiting some chunks of his poptart on the floor. He motioned for her to come in, and he returned to the kitchen. Cole swallowed the food in his mouth. "Morning Nat. Hope you slept well last night. I'm about to head to school, I'll only be able to talk for a few minutes." He said as he took another big bite of his poptart, this time taking almost the whole thing, and stuffed his mouth like a chipmunk. Crumbs started dropping from the corners of his mouth as he chewed.

After Grant got done talking with Natalie he decided to try and get another ten minutes of sleep before he got up. After about that time he sat up on his bed, and he rubbed his eyes. A slender, mocha brown, woman's arm then wrapped itself around Grant, and used him to pull herself up off from the bed. The woman was a very attractive woman, with dark brown hair, and matching eyes. "Morning." She said in a groggy tone. "Hey." He said as he almost forgot she was there. "Rita right?" Grant said, hoping he got the name right.

"Yeah. You didn't seem that out of it last night to not remember my name." She commented. "Sorry, it's really early." Grant smirked. "My roommates are up, and I need to go." Grant stated as he grabbed his pants and put it on. "Well then, for what it's worth, I had fun last night." Rita replied as she looked for her clothes. "I'll go and....uh distract my roommates. They don't really like me bringing people over without them knowing." Grant said as he put his shirt on, and was out the door.

He went down stairs to see everyone in the kitchen. Of course Natalie was here too. He's starting to feel like he's a teenager again, and sneaking out of a girls home without her family knowing. "Morning." Grant said as he yawned. "How did everyone sleep last night?" Grant asked with a big smile. Some rumblings could be heard coming from around the stairs. Cole went out of the kitchen to see what it was. "Uh...I'm sure it's nothing..." Grant said.

Cole looked over and saw Rita buttoning up her blouse. "Oh...this is awkward." She said as she finished buttoning up. "Little bit." Cole replied. "I'll call you later Grant." She said as she embarrassingly shuffled out the door. "Everybody saw the hot chick right?" Cole said before he turned to Grant, and tiled his head slightly. "In hindsight it was stupid to try and sneak someone out of a house full of super sensing werewolves." Grant smirked. "Tsk, tsk. No video games for you young man." Cole said in a jokingly stern dad voice.

"Before anyone says anything, I was careful. She's not a werewolf or a hunter. I made sure of that. I'm not stupid." Grant said defending himself, even though he wasn't sure if he even needed to. "Whatever. Crap I'm going to be late for school!" Cole said as he went out the door. Cole hopped into his red 1979 Chevy Camaro, that used to belong to Duncan, and drove off to school.

Image
Image

"That's the point dear." Darren replied to her comment about him. Darren didn't give her much attention as she went about her morning as he continued to read his paper. "I won't be late. I'm still on schedule. As always." Darren stated as he turned the page nonchalantly, and sipped his coffee, finishing it off.

"Well, I'm going to work. If you need a ride honey I'll wait out at the car. I'll give you a couple minutes or else you'll have to find your own way." Darren said as he grabbed the to-go coffee container Lilliana made for him. "Derek, I'm heading out! Don't burn the house down or anything!" Darren shouted before he went out the door. Darren went to his blue 2009 Toyota Camry, and got into the drivers seat.

"What do we have." Sheriff Charles Reed ordered as he ducked underneath some police tape in the forest where the headless body was found. "The John Doe was found by a jogger. We've questioned her, and she said that she found the body over here without a head." A deputy said as he pointed Charles towards the body. Charles kneeled down at the body, and looked at the neck wound.

"The weapon here is something sharp, and straight. Hatchet maybe. My moneys on machete though given the clean cut." Charles said as he got back. "Let Doc McGinny know we'll need a post-mortem examine from her. I wanta know for sure what happened to this guy. Also run his fingerprints and see if we can get a match." Charles ordered.

Natalie followed Cole through to the kitchen with a smile. “Morning, Cole. No prob, I just came by to make sure the Carter Falls alpha didn’t sleep in on the first day back at school but it seems like you’re on the ball. Morning Alex,” she added the last part in greeting to the girl sitting on the counter.

She glanced between the two teenagers’ measly breakfasts with distaste and headed for the fridge. Rooting through its contents with flagrant familiarity, Natalie grabbed some eggs and the last of a packet of bacon rashers. She had the food in a heated pan when Grant came downstairs. “Morning,” she replied to his greeting with the others.

Between Grant’s poor attempts at deflection and noise upstairs she was already smirking by the times Cole found somebody’s new friend on the stairs. She caught sight of the gorgeous young woman on her way out the door, and couldn’t fault his tastes. She went back to her cooking while the two boys talked it over.

A few moments later Cole was headed out the door. “Stay out of trouble!” she called after him as she plated up her breakfast and an extra plate. “I’m going to do something petty and morally ambiguous if that hunter gives him grief of their first day back.” she muttered, before turning cheerily the room.

“Late night then, tiger?” She smirked at Grant as she put the extra plate in front of him. She had a sunny side up for herself and Grant’s done the way he liked them. Someone in this house, besides her, was going to have a proper breakfast if she had any say. “I can always make more,” she hinted at Alex.

Cole arrived at school, and he wasn't even late! Cole parked in the senior parking lot, and grabbed his backpack from the back seat, and exited the car. He let out a big yawn, and started his way to the school. He took out a pair of sunglasses, and put them on. Because they make him feel like a badass. Cole entered the building, and took a big whiff of the school. Harmonies, anxiety, and sweat filled the air. But he wasn't interested in any of that, he was checking to see if his young Beta was here. And he was.

Cole followed his nose, and found Max with some friend of his. He's saw her around, but haven't really talked to her much. "Hey Max!" Cole said as he patted Max on his shoulders. [color=#9C0000]"Hope ya slept well. Missed out this morning. Grant had a 'guest'. It was pretty awkward." Cole said with a slight chuckle. "Alright, I'll let you get to wherever you're going. See you after school." Cole said and gave Rosetta a slight friendly nod.

Martian sniffed the air, he could smell his protégé Amelia coming to the forest. Martian decided to meet her first. He quickly ran towards the direction he smelt her coming from. He slowed his pace down when she was within eyesight. He maneuvered around the trees, remaining unseen. He wanted to make a dramatic appearance. Martian skirted around her, and silently came from behind her. "Well, well, well. What brings you around these parts?"

"I'm glad your here. I need a favor from you. School starts today correct?"
He asked as he circled around her even though he already knew the answer. "I need you to watch Cole, and his pack. Play nice. Say you made a mistake. Say that you didn't know it'd go down like that. Say that you were forced to do it. Sleep with him for all I care, whatever it takes for him not to kill you on sight." Martian ordered. "I just want you to watch them, tell me how he's feeling. All that crap. No matter how small, or insignificant it seems. Tell me." He continued to order.

"Oh, and just so we're clear. I'm going to kill Cole, and it ain't gonna be quick. Will you be ok with that? Or are you gonna be....a loose end?" Martian asked as his eyes turned blue, and his claws started to grow.

Image
Image

"I guess you can say that." Grant responded to Natalie's question. Grant looked down at his eggs with a slight frown. "I wanted bacon...." He muttered. But he was still going to eat them. He grabbed himself a fork, and dug into them like a wild animal. He remained silent as the girls talked.

It wasn't two minutes before he quickly wolfed(:D) them down. He covered his mouth, and let out a small burp. "Excuse me." He said. He went over to the frig, and grabbed the milk out. he poured himself a glass, and quickly chugged it down.

With a smile Natalie rolled her eyes at Grant’s complaint even as he began to devour his eggs; standing up she tipped the remaining bacon from her plate onto his. She’d made more than she needed anyway. “You’re lucky you’re pretty,” she informed him as she wandered over to the kitchen counter and dumped her plate in the sink. She stretched her arms above her head with satisfied groan, and leaned back against the counter alongside Alex.

“So,” said Natalie, smile slipping to something more serious. “Any news?”

She didn't think she needed to clarify. It was a question she’d been asking regularly for a month now. The primary threat to Cole right now was Martian, and leads on the bastard were far and few between. She had enough contacts that the lack of usable information was making her anxious. For Spirit's sake! Yes, Martian might be experience and able to cover his scent, but he was also hot-headed and aggressive, sooner or later he had to slip up.
Grant and Alex were the eldest wolves left in the pack, and Natalie suspected, the most hardened. She expected them to have their supernatural ears to the ground, so to speak, and she hadn't asked while Cole was there because there was no point in bringing up a sore subject if there wasn't anything new to report.

Alex stole a piece of bacon off of Grant's plate and ate it. She grinned at him. "A growing girl's gotta eat."

“So,” said Natalie, smile slipping to something more serious. “Any news?”

Alex's eyes trailed to the ground. "No..." Her eyes flashed blue for a moment. She hated that they hadn't been able to find Martian yet and she hated him. He reminded Alex of her father's cruelty which both angered and frightened Alex about Martian.

"That bastard has left his scent dry and we haven't had a single slip up happen yet." Alex jumps down from the counter and sighs. "We better find him soon..." Alex wanted Martian out of the way as soon as possible. if he was out of the picture, there'd be way less blood shed.

Cole was well on his way to his first class, but then a scent caught his nose. A scent he hasn't smelt for awhile, one he thought he'd never smell again. It was of Amilia. Cole started to hyperventilate. He calmed down a minute later. It couldn't have been her, she's dead. Isn't she? He followed the scent, and it ended at Max, his friend, and Amilia, alive and well. Cole hid around the corner to gather his thoughts. 'What the hell?! She's dead?! She....she....' He screamed in his head. Emotions swelled inside him. Hate, regret, anger, and even a little bit relief.

Cole regained his composure, and stepped out of the corner. He gave Amilia a fierce glare. He was sure that she saw him, and he went back around the corner. He took out his phone, and quickly texted Grant 'Amilia's alive, & in school'. He put his phone away, and then he ducked into a janitors closet. It was pitch dark inside the closet. He sat down on a stool, and waited for her, with only the bright crimson glare from his Alpha eyes as a light in the room. He sat there, motionless, with a expression of perpetual anger.

"My bacon....." Grant pouted as Alex stole a piece. He quickly downed the rest in the manner of seconds. "Yeah, I haven't heard anything from him. I've got a few feelers out for him. And a old army buddy's sitting on his apartment incase he comes back. But I will say one thing about him, he's smart." Grant said as he chewed his food. Yeah, he has the manners of a wolf as well. "But he'll make his move. I'm pretty sure it'll be soon too."

Grant's phone then went off in his pocket. He took it out to see that he got a text from Cole. He read the text, and then took a double take on it. "Son of a...." he muttered. "This can't be right. I just got a text from Cole. Evidently Miss Amilia Harrell is alive, and back in school." Grant stated. "You guys remember her right? She, and her parents were with Martian. She was big buds with Cole. Hell, I remember him asking for advice to ask her out before everything went down. If she's still with Martian, there's no telling what he'd do with her."

"What do we do? We can't storm a high school, and take her. I'm not comfortable with Cole, and the Pup being there alone with her without back up."
Grant asked.

Natalie slumped against the counter and dragged her hand over her face with a frustrated sigh.

“Harrel…” she knew the name. By now she knew names of all the Carter Falls supernaturals, and most of the outsiders recruited by Paris, that had fought and died in the battle. With the number and nature of deaths someone had to make sure that there was no investigation, but that valid death certificates were still issued. The official report had ended up labeling it all as some tragic accident.
Mr and Mrs Harrel had apparently been among those who had been more content under Tommy’s reign of terror, and had been lured by Paris’ promise of a return to the old ways. The couple had still been standing when Duncan had fallen, but not when Natalie returned to the aftermath of Cole's rise.
“Her parents were both confirmed dead after the fight but Amilia sort of dropped off the radar. I'm sorry, but somehow I doubt she’s back to make nice. That's all we fricking need: Cole’s old crush, a teenage she-wolf with a grudge, in Martian Paris’ pocket.”

"...We can't storm a high school, and take her..."

“No, honey, we can't," she agreed, with a roll of her eyes. "Attempting to kidnap an underage girl or even just sitting around watching the school from your car is only ever going to end badly. I don't know. Unless one of you is planning on going undercover as cafeteria staff or a janitor or something, I think we're just going to have to hope our alpha and the pup can hold their own until the final bell.”

“Besides if Miss Amilia is dumb enough to try anything at the school, with Chasseur there, I doubt she’d be our problem much longer.” Right now the mild-mannered school principal seemed the lesser of two evils where Paris was concerned but he was still a hunter. She briefly entertained the thought reporting the girl as a rogue omega and seeing how quickly the matter was taken off their hands. "It'd be so much more convenient to have that man on side. He might not fancy you lot, or me for that matter, but we're a hell of lot more amiable than Paris. 'Better the devil you know' and what not."
