nick name: n/a
Role: Phoenix
Age: 18
Occupation: Traveler
Human Appearance:
Eyes: Ashy grey when human
Hair: Brown with streaks
Height: 5'2''
Weight: 90
Build: Extremely thin, she gives new meaning to the words 'skin and bones'
Other Appearance: Her appearance changes as she gets closer to making her final decision, this portion will reflect that. But her 'phoenix form' is basically a sentient cloud of fire that very vaguely resembles a girl with wings. Leading up to a 'shift' her eyes will begin to catch fire, as well as her hair and fingers.
Personality: Adena is very impulsive a fact which often leads her to trouble. She doesn't often think things through. Out of necessity, Adena has learned to control her temper. Well, control isn't the right word. The girl shuts down whenever something that angers or saddens her occurs. On the other hand, the female phoenix can get very passionate about things, and will throw her heart and soul into a project or give them to a person on impulse. Though often skeptical, if she decides to stand by something she will stand by it.

History: Adena didn't ask for this curse, but it runs in her family. When the oldest phoenix dies in their winged-phoenix form, for the first and only time, their powers are transferred to the youngest generation of the family line. For Adena, this happened around the time when she was fourteen. Her father, having been aware that this was always a possibility in their family, talked her through everything. Despite his counseling, she resented the perceived 'curse' and wished for nothing more than for it to be gone. Over the years, her resentment grew. Finally, right after she was out of high school, the last straw broke. Losing control of her temper, she managed to burn the family house to the ground. Neither of her parents were hurt, but Adena left before they could reassure her that it was not her fault. Frustrated at her own unwanted abilities, she left them behind and began travelling. Though she never got into any real trouble at first, she managed to dig a hole deep enough to ensure a trip to a detention center. After serving time for a few counts of petty theft and some other minor crimes, she was released back into the wild. Unable to contain her anger and self-loathing, she decides that the other people of the world should be as afraid of her uncontrollable fire as she was. A long line of arson later, she ended up here.
Other information:She has a tattoo across her hip that kind of came with the curse, it was shaped in the form of an egg - but it changes over time. Every time she 'flames up' she gets smaller, her appearance changes, and the egg gets closer to being a full blown phoenix. Currently, it shows a phoenix right out of its egg. When it reaches a full grown form (for her, about a half dozen more shifts, give or take) she must make the decision to return to being a human for another egg phase or assume a phoenix form permanently.
Much of her power is not under her control. One of the only conscious things she can do is talk to other birds, as she actually is one herself. In regards to fire, her powers come in three stages. First, which she can only achieve when perfectly calm, is that she can make her hot to the touch-to the point where she can light things on fire. Second, when angry or frightened, she will actually begin to catch on fire. If this occurs, she must immediately put out her flames lest she move on to stage three. At stage three, the most dramatic, the flames totally consume her body. This can be forced or happen through an accident not related to her temper - say someone purposefully lights her on fire, or she gets to close to an open flame. If she reaches stage three, her entire form will become covered in flames for a few minutes. After this few minutes, the original body will have been burned to ash and a new one rises out of this. This new body can be entirely different, though overall personality tends to remain the same (though this is not always the case) and quite a bit smaller. Just because she is a phoenix does not mean she is impervious to flame, taking on this form causes immense pain.
Also, it physically hurts her to get wet. She can't drink anything that isn't practically boiling, and certainly can't cry. This is unfortunate given that, like all phoenixes, her tears have healing powers.
