Tugark's reflexes were quick and grabbed Lady Samsara before she fell completely, gently holding her in his massive arms. And then they were falling.

The sensation was disconcerting for the huge beast. Awkwardly he shifted Lady Samsara so that he could carry her with one arm and spread his massive wings. The feathery things snapped against the air, causing him to wince. It was never a pleasant feeling for the beast.

Quickly, he began looking for Glixenheimer. If he found the gnome, he would dive after him in the attempts to grab hold of -something- that was latched on the man. Be it limb or clothes or hair. He would beg for forgiveness later, but right now, he had to make sure all of them would make it out alive.

Glixenheimer's expression of glee only continued to grow brighter and brighter as the mechanical sounds grew around them. Even though it sounded like a poorly oiled engine on its last legs, he had activated a foreign technology. The potential!

His grin vanished for a moment when the ground beneath him did. He looks down, following the rapidly descending metal plate with wide eyes. It took him a couple of moments to realize he wasn't falling with it, and so he looks around. Or tries to. His body was twisting instead of his head, he realized, reaching up to pat the hand holding his head.

"Oh," he exclaims then. "Thank you, Tugark!" He recognized the furry digits from his brief experience riding on the creature's shoulders. "Now quick! Bring us down! Down into the depths," he declares, rifling through his bad to find a pair of goggles.

Tugark had no choice but to go down. Burdened as he was, there was no way he could lift them up to the surface again. So instead, he circled downward, gliding down as best as he could. The drop was immense and the beast could have sworn this hole had no end. His muscles strained and ached and occasionally he'd let a grunt of his displeasure sound.

After what seemed to be eternity to Tugark, they finally could see the ground. Folding his wings slightly, he tilted further to speed the decent along. He would drop the gnome as soon as he was sure it would not hurt the man and continued to glide for a few more feet until he landed on his feet and free hand, still cradling Lady Samsara close to his chest. Without her, he would have to speak to Glixenheimer himself.

"Sh-Sh-shorrrrrie." He breathed, sounding more like a growl than a word.

Glixenheimer was oblivious to the struggles of the poor beast, staring about with his goggles. They glowed in the darkness, lending to the fact that they were some manner of light amplification or something to that affect. Occasionally he makes little fascinated noises or points at interesting markings, but for the most part he was just observing.

As he had suggested, the farther down they got the colder the air got. With the light above growing more distant, eventually it would feel like they had stepped into a cooler, it was so chilly. Of course, that was only by comparison; in all likelihood, whatever lived down here had some manner of climate control to regulate it.

When he was dropped, he landed with possibly surprising grace. He was, after all, an assassin. Staring around at everything, he realized they were standing on the platform. He waited for a few moments for Samsara to translate what Tugark had said, but he looks over and sees that she was unconscious, draped over Tugark. He was about to go attempt to provide assistance resuscitating her, but then he notices the buttons from before. With a gleeful expression, he starts making his way over to push the other button and see what happened when he pressed that one.

They were all down inside of a long tunnel. There was no other exit that was visible at that moment. And then Glixenheimer, the most curious of the trio, pushed a button.

"Welcome to City 18," a pleasant woman's voice chimed, "Enjoy your stay and be sure to visit the Crystalarium to register your visit." A doorway slid open and in entrance to City 18 was revealed.

It was a massive underground territory with buildings built straight out of the earthen walls. The center of the city was completely open; an unfathomably deep hole. The further it went down the more a strange blue light encompassed the depths. It was an energy source and one of Glixenheimer's gadgets would have shot off the grid if he took a reading.

There were hundreds of citizens walking past the door that had opened for Tugark, Glixenheimer, and the unconscious Lady Samsara. Not a single one of them noticed the visitors. And none of them would, or possibly could notice them.

They were all ghosts.

A line lit up on the floor to guide the travelers to the Crystalarium.

Tugark's eyes opened wide, the icy blue things glowing in the dim light. Ghosts. Not just one or two. But hundreds. His heart sank as it registered. Slowly, he made his way through the doors that had opened to reveal City 18, his tufted ears drooping in sorrow.

Bands of blue light started to illuminate Tugark's arms and legs, a soft glow above his fur, but he did not seem to notice. He was more or less following the line that lit up on the floor to go to the Crystalarium, still carrying Lady Samsara carefully in the crook of his arm.

'What could have caused all this?' He thought to himself. 'Had the shadow spread before I was awakened..?"

"Oh!" Glixenheimer jumps back in surprise, looking around himself as he hears the female voice. "Thank you," he cries out. "City Eighteen? That's... that's a dull name," he says, very disappointed all of a sudden. "But that's okay! Where are you? I am Techno-Engineering Assassin Glixenheimer Bolargian Jibbnoticous!" For expedience purposes, he decided to only use his less formal title.

He hadn't noticed the shimmering figures at first, when the door opened. He assumed the speaker must be beyond, and so rushes that way with Tugark.

It was massive. Gigantinormus! Far bigger than the Capital had been, even, Glixenheimer guessed. And so many people! Shimmering, light-construct people! He was going to say hello, but a line in the floor lit up, and, with a grin on his face, he starts following it. "Come on, Tugark! This way!" He was having the greatest adventure ever.

Tugark followed behind Glixenheimer as quickly as he could without bouncing Lady Samsara too badly. He glanced down at her with a worried look. She needed attention.

He would follow the line closely now, heading straight to where it led. Maybe not everyone here was dead spirits. Maybe someone here could actually help Lady Samsara. "Marstarrrr Grrlixinnhemerrr!" He called, barely able to keep up with the gnome. Every step he took further into the city, the glowing spread across his body in rune-like markings.

He would stop where the trail ended, in front of the place that the automatic lady had called the Crystalarium. His eyes peered over the place, taking in all of what he could see, hoping for the living.

The Crystalarium was easy to recognize. It wasn't mechanical or carved from the earth. It was literally a crystal building. A massive archway had been carved into the gigantic shimmering crystal, and the inside had been hollowed out. The glowing line on the floor led them directly inside the Crystalarium.

As soon as they stepped inside of the building, the light on the floor disappeared. A find layer of dust covered every inch of the spare furniture and decorations. There was a desk in the center of the oval room. It had been cut by an enormous diamond. There was a glowing light that faded in and out.

It was just begging Glixenheimer to touch it.

When they had reached the Crystalarium, Glixenheimer was in awe. He had been in awe of everything in the city that they passed. His neck would probably need quite a massage from all the swiveling his head was doing.

Standing in the majestic Crytalarium, Glixenheimer wore the most heady, unspeakably pleased expression. He was about to go push the button, when he heard something that sounded vaguely like his name.

Glixenheimer turned back towards the hulking beast and the woman he was carrying. "Yes! I am here, don't worry! This Crystalarium! It's splendificious! This city eighteen, too! Oooh! It makes my mustache twitch! Let me just see what this does!"

With a gleeful smile, he turned about and put his face next to the button. Then, with a flourish of his finger, he pushed it.

The beasts eyes grew wide at the sight of the crystal building. It was.. magnificent to say the least.

Tugark was too busy gawking to realize Glixenheimer heading towards another button. The beast only noticed as the gnome placed his finger onto the button, his widened eyes going from awe to fear. "Noooo!" He called, but he braced himself for anything, clutching Lady Samsara protectively in his massive arms.

Lady Samsara opened her eyes but it was not the Crystalarium that she saw...

Her arms were covered in gold bangles and rings with enormous gemstones. The chair beneath her was gilded and wrought in gold. She was on a tall dais looking over an ancient city set deep inside of a thick jungle.

Lady Samsara moved but her head was strangely heavy. Her hand reached up and touched a headdress. It was made of metal, most likely gold too, and something soft like feathers.

Her eyes looked down at the rest of her body. Lady Samsara was dressed in dark blue linen that could very much so have been more conservative of her body. She wanted to blush but for some reason it felt comfortable. There was no shame is showing so much of her dark, tan skin to these people gathered.

And there were people gathered, hundreds of less ornately dressed citizens of this perplexing civilization. One of those people, a man, stepped forward bearing a chest of gold. He walked up the stairs that led to Lady Samsara's throne and placed the gift in front of her.

The woman didn't know what to do. She nodded. Yes, that was the right thing to do. Goddesses nodded. Lady Samsara blinked. Goddess? Surely not! That was an utter absurdity! How dare she think herself a goddess when she was nothing but a mere huntress.

Lady Samsara looked down at the box and then to her side. Tugark. He was standing near her. He was dressed in an odd assortment of armor. She could not see his face but Lady Samsara knew that it was Tugark. A comforting feeling washed over Lady Samsara as she looked on her friend. A smile spread across her face.

Tugark came forward and took the box. He turned to Lady Samsara, took a knee, and present the box outward to her. She smiled and leaned forward. Lady Samsara took the box and placed it in her lap. Every single eye of her people watched as she opened it.

Lady Samsara lifted the lid. It made very odd and foreign sounds. It clicked.

A small arrow shot out and struck her directly in the throat. Lady Samara's heart rate surged and she dropped the box. Her hands clasped at her throat. Blood spurted between her fingers and her eyes were wide with shock, surprise, and betrayal from her people.

Tugark growled and began to slay those closest to him.

Lady Samsara's vision grew dim. Blackness curled in from the corners of her eyes. She focused on Tugark as the world became dark.

The goddess sputtered out five words... and died.

"K'korro thakt ne dennaht zawaeh, Tugark," Lady Samsara croaked in Tugark's arms. She did not open her eyes. She repeated herself over and over again in a harsh but faint whisper.

As Glixenheimer pressed the button the woman's voice chimed all around the room once more.

"Welcome to the Crytalarium. We at City 18 keep records of those who travel to our wondrous home. Please state your name, species, and other important specifics to register as Visitors to City 18. Clearance passes will be administered if applicable. Thank you."

A light flicked behind the diamond desk. It took a moment but a woman eventually was projected with a welcoming smile and patient eyes.

"Oh oh!" Glixenheimer cried out. Another chance to introduce himself! These were fine days, fine days indeed. Aside from everyone back home being dead, but you simply could not win them all.

Standing at his full height, Glixenheimer takes a deep breath. No one could stop him this time. "I am Techno-Engineering Assassin Glixenheimer Bolargian Jibbnoticous, Former Grand-Master of the Thirtieth-by-Fifteenth Largest Under-precinct pertaining to Gnomish and other Underdwelling Folk, in the second Quarter of the Grand Capital City of Nalinathris, Greatest Mountain-home and Elf-land, in which the Gnomish Folk of the Iron Kingdom placed residence Aeons ago. My species is Gnome! And I am a skilled Technologicalifcate Engineer!"

Glixenheimer took another deep breath. He'd had to cut his title shorter than he wanted to. He was out of practice, he felt. Then he noticed the 'woman' sitting behind the desk. Trotting over, he stood just within sight, almost right up next to it. "Hello! Did I say my name close enough? Do you need it again? Who are you?" He was talking a mile a minute by this point, so excited was he. Tugark and Samsara had almost fallen out of his mind completely.

Tugark let out a sigh of relief when he realized that they weren't going to drop another 100 stories or something was going to explode. He released his tight hold on Lady Samsara and started to go closer to the gnome.

"K'korro thakt ne dennaht zawaeh, Tugark,"

He stumbled half stride in the direction of Glixenheimer and had opened his snout to try to pronounce his own name. Tugark by this point, looked like he had seen a ghost. Well, it didn't help that they were surrounded by ghosts.. But a ghost in particular he never imagined he'd find. If he were human, the color would have drained from his face.

He scarcely breathed. The memories played up in his mind, pain and rage still very fresh emotions despite his long slumber. It was as if those very words opened a wound that was barely healed over.

Slowly he let in a breath that his lungs began to beg for, looking down at the woman in his arms with tears in his eyes. Could it be? Could it be he had found her?

As the gnome had forgotten the other part of his party, Tugark had forgotten about him for the moment. The beast fell forward on his trembling knees, burrowing his massive head in the crook of his arm where Lady Samsara remained unconscious.

"I am an artificial intelligence program designated Aurora by programmer and engineer Abel Masters."

"Gnome Techno-Engineering Assassin Glixenheimer Bolargian Jibbnoticous, Former Grand-Master of the Thirtieth-by-Fifteenth Largest Under-precinct pertaining to Gnomish and other Underdwelling Folk, in the second Quarter of the Grand Capital City of Nalinathris, Greatest Mountain-home and Elf-land, in which the Gnomish Folk of the Iron Kingdom placed residence Aeons ago, Welcome to City 18," the holoprojection said to Glixenheimer. "Thank you for registering in the Crystalarium."

Now, each time they passed anything that stated their names, Glixenheimer would hear his name just as he presented it.

"Please place your wrist against the desk for a Visitor's Mark," the Aurora stated.

"I am detecting two more lifeforms, Techno-Engineering Assassin Glixenheimer Bolargian Jibbnoticous, Former Grand-Master of the Thirtieth-by-Fifteenth Largest Under-precinct pertaining to Gnomish and other Underdwelling Folk, in the second Quarter of the Grand Capital City of Nalinathris, Greatest Mountain-home and Elf-land, in which the Gnomish Folk of the Iron Kingdom placed residence Aeons ago," Aurora said in her pleasant voice.

Glixenheimer's face was lit with pure joy at hearing his name repeated back to him by this 'Aurora.' He liked this technology. It was like his recordomezzimer, but it didn't need a focusing rune!

"You are quite welcome, Ms. Aurora! It is quite a pleasure to make your acquaintance!" He looked towards the glowing designation on the desk and placed his wrist against it as he spoke.

"Oh! Of course! That's Samsara and Tugark." He peered over his shoulder at them. He'd practically forgotten about them until then.

How may I be of assistance?" Aurora stated.

A foreign warmth came from the desk. It almost increased to the point of discomfort and then died away. A simple glowing symbol was temporarily tattooed on Glixenheimer's wrist. It held simple information about him and gave him a visitor's clearance, the lowest of the lowest clearances.

The woman behind the desk flickered and disappeared. She reappeared next to Tugark and Lady Samsara. Aurora stood up straight with her hands clasped behind her back, awaiting a request.

Tugark had not raised his head from where it had laid against Lady Samsara for the whole time that Glixenheimer and the automated woman had their conversation. Looking up when the woman reappeared, he held Lady Samsara away, as if the woman presented some harm to her.

He then began to speak, his voice booming against the silence. "Lady Samsara needs help." He said, taking to his ancient tongue despite thinking that the automative device probably would not understand him. Nor would Glixenheimer. But he was distressed beyond imagination. Who could blame him? A gnome willingly dropped all three of them into a hole 100 stories beneath the surface, his friend could be dying for all he knew, and now she was muttering things that was in his past that was a bit more than a little painful.

"She needs help.." He repeated.

"Oh," Glixenheimer exclaims, as if the random jumblings that made up the beast's words made sense to him. "I believe he wants food and drink! And..." he paused again, looking at Samsara. "Oh, she has been unconsciousilated for quite some time!"

He hobbles over to the pair, beaming up at Tugark. Apparently Glixenheimer could not tell that the creature was in dismay. "Is everything alright," he asked. "Meet Aurora! She's an Artificialiated Intelligencatron! Fascinating, isn't it? Artificial! That means Not Real!"

His expression dimmed slightly when he realized Tugark was less than fine.

Aurora held out a hand. A panel lifted from the floor and hovered over to Tugark.

"Tugark and Samsara, please place the lifeform onto the panel. I will perform a scan to run diagnostics. What is her species and age?" the A.I. asked Tugark.

Lady Samsara began to cry out as if in pain. There was something wrong with her other than heat exhaustion. The woman writhed in Tugark's arms as if she was trapped in an awful nightmare; a nightmare that kept repeating itself over and over again.

A feathered headress. Tugark. A man with a box. Clicking sounds. Blood. Death.
