Raven walked down the streets. A strange gang was doing graffiti on a brick wall. She puffed her chest up to look strong, and held her head in the air. She walked past the gang, then running to a payphone. She inserted a spare quarter. "Hello, Police? I found a gang graffiti.." she felt something jab her side. Then her vision faded.

Raven woke up in a garbage dumpster, bruised and bleeding. She crawled out. A carved scar mark read across her arm that said: "Hw0 lives on and on.." Raven looked at her watch. It was 5:00 am. She'd been in the garbadge for a few hours. She limped to a store next door. They sold cool Brazilian outifts. She crawled to the clerk. "Can you call... call the hospital.." she grumbled weekly. The clerk's jaw dropped
She dialed the hospital and handed the phone to Raven. "Hello? I.. was beaten up by a gang.. I am bleeding!" Raven told them where she was. An ambulance arrived minutes later. They lifted her up into the vechile.

Raven fell asleep. She woke up later in her hotel room, stitched up and sore. A bill was on her dresser. "5 THOUSAND?!?" screamed Raven. She cried in her bed. After weeping, she limped down to grab some lunch.

“You sure you can find the plane?” Dad asked. He stood a good foot and a half above my small 5’6 frame. His hair buzzed into that military style and his olive drab Marine Corp. shirt looked 3 sizes too small.

“Dad, it’s just the bathroom. I’ll be fine.” I reassured him as I shouldered my bag.

“Okay, but hurry. We got twenty minutes before takeoff.” He smiled and turned towards the shuttle for the plane.
I let my breath flow from my lungs with a whoosh. I was not ready for this flight. I hated planes. And yet hate didn’t seem like the right word, despise maybe? Shaking my head I headed for the bathroom to rise off my face. This was going to be a very long ride.

I looked at my wrist watch; I had about 15 to 10 minutes before the plane left the ground. I jogged to the hallway entrance and hand the flight attendants my ticket. She smiled and closed the doors behind me. My body tensed as the soft click of the doors finalized my doom.

The plane was massive, complete with a mini bar that sat between the two class seats, that customers could use during auto-pilot . Looking for my seat B13 I noticed dad wasn’t around. Bathroom or checking the luggage, I thought and sat by the window. Nervous butterflies catapulted themselves at the wall of my stomach; I groaned and let my head fall on the head rest.
20 minutes later dad still hadn’t sat down beside me. “Mama, Mama?” Flagging down a Fight attended I asked, “Have you seen my dad? He’s like massive and wearing all green.”

She looked at me confused before saying, “Your dad? Nope not on this plane.” She shook her head and started to walked away, but said “You can always call him…” Not on this plane? What the hell did that mean? We both have the same plane tickets. I nod my head and look in my black backpack that I had as a carry-on, looking of my cell. Reaching the bottom of my bag I noticed the cell phone wasn’t here. Sweet Jesus! I left it in the suit case. Dread filled my stomach as I turned around to a man who sat behind me. He had black head phones in his ears as he gazed out the window. “Sir?” I waved my hand in front of his face.
Looking up he snatched the head phones off and spat, “What?” I reeled back a few inches at his anger but said, “Where are we going?” He looked at me and rolled his eyes. “We are going to Rio De Janeior. You bought the plane ticket you should know where the hell you’re going!”

“I…I... Bought a ticket to Mexico not Rio De Janeior.” I stuttered.

“Then you’re on the wrong plane.” He stated and plugged his head phones back in, ignoring my facial expression that pleaded for more answers. Slowly, almost reluctantly I turned around in my seat.

Wrong plane?! Well shit….

***

I awoke with a start as the flight attendants voice announced our arrival to Rio De Janeior. I groaned but lifted my bag to my shoulder, rushing to be the first one off. Yelps and angry curses flew my way as I pushed by other flyers.

Exiting the plane I made for a mad dash to the ticket counter. “I need a ticket to Mexico. In the next few hours would be great.” The attendant looked at me cautiously but nodded and silently looked at her computer.

“We don’t have any more flights till a week from now.” Her small voice confirmed.

“How is that possible? It’s tourist season for god sakes.” I threw my hands in the air as my voice rose. Several people looked in my direction but I was to angry to pay any attention.

The small women nodded. “I see that, but still we have no flights till-“

“A week from now. I heard you the first time.” I mumbled. Stomping off to the pay phone I called dad. I looked at my surroundings. A large glass window boarded the north wall, allowing view of the planes. Other tourists walked around lazily and several other young teens looked about as confused as I did.

It took about three rings until his ruff voice answered, “Hello?”

“Daddy?” I whispered and cupped the phone to my ear. Relishing his voice. He was going to be sooo angry.

“Molly? Molly! Where the hell are you? You’re not on the plane! I’ve looked everywhere!” Angry swelled in his voice and I looked down at my shoes.

“I-I know. I got on the wrong plane. I’m in…Rio De Janeior.”

“Rio De Janeior? I’m coming to get you. Just…just stay there.” His voice was filled with confusion and I could hear him pacing.

“No. It’s okay. I’m 18 now, I think I’ll manage. Besides they have a plane that is going to Mexico next week. I have money to buy the ticket. I should be fine. “ I looked at a small laminated piece of paper that was clipped to the wall and showed all of the hotels with in a twenty mile radius. “And I’m going to stay at Royal Park Hotel“ I confirmed, picking the first one I saw.

Dad snorted but said, “Okay fine. But a week, Molly. After a week I’m coming to get you. And you’re grounded for like….ever.”

I laughed. “Understood. Love you.” Mumbling my goodbyes I hung up. Now to find that hotel.

***

Royal Park Hotel was large, reminded me of the Hamptons that we would stay at during business trips. Approaching the desk I asked for a one person suite. After receiving my room key and little tips about the hotel I head for room 6 on floor 3.
Opening the suite door the smell of the ocean wafted in from an open window. Pouting I threw my stuff on the bed and just stood there. I was so angry at myself. How could I let the biggest detail just slip from my mind? How the hell did I get on the wrong plane?!

The women at the front desk said that diner was at seven and it was seven o’ five. Brooding my way down to the diner I let myself grab a plate and just seat at a table. There were several other teenagers who looked lost, they vaguely looked familiar and I remember them from the air port. But I was in no mood to make friends so I just sat there next to the window and absently ate.

'Still, I can't believe that I got on the wrong plane. Wish I didn't,' Koa thought. Noticing a seat free, he went to it, not knowing someone sat across from him.

I paid little attention when someone sat across of me at the diner table. I smiled briefly at him but quickly excused myself and headed for the room. I still felt awkward around people my age, and being in the wrong vacation destination made me very nervous.

I wanted to change but I didn't have my suit case. Suppressing an angry well I grabbed my wallet and head out into town. I was going to be here a while so I might as well have a bit of fun.

The night life was amazing. I've heard of the lively music and food but never actually experienced it. I was in awe as I headed to a small little shop that had festive lights hung on its open door. Letting soft light spill onto the cobble walk way. Peaking in my head I saw fabulous summer dresses and large hats. Laughing a little I walked into the store and instantly picked out a thin white thigh length dress. It was casual yet strikingly beautiful, and perfectly thin for the hot weather. I quickly paid and slipped it on, trading my Nike running shoes for light blue flip flops. this wasn't my usual attire but hell I was on vacation!

Running my fingers through my brown curls I headed for a small bar. I ordered a virgin margarita with chips and salsa. I was having a bit of fun. I sat quietly with my feet perched on the other chair and watched as the sunset over the ocean. An emotion of sadness drenched me as I thought of being here with out dad. I shrugged and bit into a chip.He was a grown man and could fend for himself.

"Aqui vamos Mexico!" (Mexico here we go!)she whispered to herself awkwardly with a strong accent. They had been asked to turn off their cell phones which Ashley had done before arriving, after all she was already aware of what to do and what not to do when traveling on airplane. She thought that her family was surely on board, but she didn't have any time to look for them. She fell asleep the whole flight and was awoken when the plane finally arrived, Ashely was among the firs passengers to get out, she waited for her family to get out of the plane. The last passenger finally got out but it wasn't any family member of hers, instead it was a young male in his mid-twenties. She asked the flight's assistance, "aren't there people missing?" to which she answered, "that young man was the last passenger on board" as she smiled to Ashley.

Ashley turned her phone on in a flash wishing to contact her family, as soon as her phone turned on her phone went crazy with notifications of missed calls, she was about to call her dad when an incoming call came. Dad was the name that appeared on the screen, she answered as soon as humanly possible and was surprised by her father's yelling, "where the hell are you Rose!? We thought that you would get on board if something were to happen... but you never even got in the plan!" Ash knew this was bad news, he never called her by her middle name unless he was really mad, "what do you mean I never got on board? my plane just arrived" she finally said, even though she knew something was wrong.

"I got in the wrong plane?!!!!!" she asked her father as soon as he told her that she was definetely not on the same plane. She started freaking out and asked the same flight attendant as before, "excuse me but where are we now?" to which she answered with the same smile as before, "well, we are in Rio de Janeiro of course!. Ashley was afraid to put her hear next to the cellphone speaker, fearing of her father's rage, but she finally told her father, Dad... I think I'm on Brazil...". After minutes of hearing to her father's scold, he finally took a deep breath and told her, "well... there's nothing we can do now is there? you know that we don't have a lot of money, but we are not exactly poor now either. I know things have been rough on everyone, which is why I really want you to enjoy yourself Rosy, and I think that despite the craziness this might be good for you. You can stay in Brazil for some vacations" her father said in a sincere almost apologetic voice. Ashley felt as if she wanted to cry, but she didn't want to sound as if she couldn't take care of herself, not especially after she was going to stay in Brazil on her own. I love you dad" she finally managed to say."I love you too Rosy" her dad said before he hung up, he didn't want his daughter to find sadness inside his voice.

((This post is just to show how Molly is insecure around men. In no way is Mr. Sexy Bartender a character, unless someone wants to make him one.))

"For you." A young Brazilian women set down another margarita down on the table and wiped her hands on her black apron that was folded at the waist.

"I didn't order another." I stated but sipped at it. The taste of tequila instantly met my tongue. I especially didn't order one with alcohol. Looking up I and eyed the women. She was short and beautiful, her dark long hair up on top of her head in a messy bun and her chocolate eyes sparkled with life. I instantly felt insecure, I knew I was prettyish but never beautiful. Of course the beautiful gene happened to be in her blood but still, she was stunning even wearing a plain black tank top and jean shorts.

"It's on the house. From the bartender." Her voice filled with a fatigue as she shrugged and walked away. Leaving me confused. Never has someone bought me a drink that wasn't dad. I turned to look at the bar, my breath caught in my throat when I saw him. He was tall, dark, and handsome; and totally out of league. His shaggy hair was kept just long enough that it almost covered his eyes and touched the top of his ears. His skin tan and toned and he wore a white dress shirt, it's sleeves rolled up to his elbows.
He wasn't looking at me as he poured an alcoholic drink into another woman's glass. As if sensing I was watching her turned, and winked as soon as our eyes met.

I quickly stood, bouncing the table and making my drink spill. Shit! Ripping napkin out of the holder I sprawled them on the table to soak up the mess. "Let me help you." Looking up he stood mere feet away some the table, a roll of paper towels under his arm. I wanted to snap at him to go away but just simply nodded.

"Yeah. S-sorry." I stuttered and backed away from the table, throwing a twenty on it as I did so. Turing sharply I made for the door and tripped on several chairs and a table. Cursing myself for being such a loser I walked to the hotel. Growing up home schooled and only around adults made me nervous around people my age, especially the opposite sex. I actually never talked to people my age, and with dad like a giant wall that towered over me and kept me from the outside world I was afraid I would never make any actual friends. Not that I didn't like dad, but I'm not one of his Enlisted. I was his damn daughter, which only proved his point more that I should stay away from crazy teenagers, especially boys.

Making a mental note not to go to that bar again I groaning and shut the room door, flopped on my stomach onto the bed. This was going to be the longest week ever.

Talia's open book sat limply in her lap, her eyes scanning the pages intently. She had been in a rush to get on the plane, so she hadn't boarded with her family, but she figured it didn't matter. No big deal. “You must know that I am made of death, from head to foot, and it is a corpse who loves you and adores you and will never, never leave you!” she foucused on the words in front of her, her finger darting along the tan page. She hated flying, she really did. It made her sick. Of course, the man in front of her made her even sicker with the words "Yea, I've never been to Rio! I have always wanted to, but now with work I can go study the flora and fauna, and it is all paid for me!". Talia just about threw up. "I'm horribly sorry.... there must be some confusion" Her voice wavered as she slowly put away the book.

The man turned to face the confused girl, and Talia blinked a few times. "No, dear. This is going to Rio. You must have got on the wrong plane" Talia's face drained of all color and she nodded feebly, gulping down breath after breath and forcing herself into the leather of the seat, hoping to disappear.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

When the plane landed, Talia quickly got off, her face on the ground in front of her. She never said a word, never even looked up as she made a b-line for the nearest pay phone. She didn't like cell phones all that much, and she didn't have anybody to call anyway. She deposited a few coins and dialed her moms number, her shaking fingers hardly getting the right digits. "Mom!" she said in a quickly hushed yell when she answered on the first ring. "Where are you sweetie.... we didn't see you get off the plane" her mothers voice said, and Talia took a deep breath. She could handle this. "I'm in Rio" she said quickly, holding her breath. Her moms voice quickly filled the speaker. It sounded anxious and worried. "Mom. I can handle it. I'll find the next flight outta here and even if it isn't for a while, I have my purse which has all of my emergency money" she said as calm as her shaking voice would allow. "Think of it like one of my books. An adventure" her mothers voice calmed and Talia sighed. "Okay.. be safe hun. Come back quickly!" her mom rang and Talia put the phone back onto the reviver.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Turns out, the next flight wouldn't be for a few days. Talia quickly alerted her mom, who told her to be safe and to stay away from drugs and all that other things she could fit into a few seconds. It wasn't long before Talia had made her way onto the street, and into a grand hotel. It looked nice enough and safe to boot, so Talia quickly rented the cheapest room she could and made her way into an adjacent diner, keeping her eyes on the menu and only speaking when she had to order. She could survive for a few days- stay out of the limelight and out of trouble for a week. Cool.
