HAIR: COLOR|| LENGTH|| TYPE
If there is one thing that Naomi thanks her mixed genes for, it is the semi-manageable curls that she's been taking of on her own, outside of the Gemini 14 treated styles she's been known for. Because of that great health, her somewhat tight, coily curls actually fall to her shoulders when left in their natural state and then to the middle of her back when straightened. Her natural hair color is an auburn-chestnut shade, but only her San Francisco crew have seen it. She's been seen in the early years in a variety of colored weave; blonde, pink dyed, ruby red, and black. Currently, she got her own hair treated with color on her own volition, which pissed her mother off. Currently, it's a multi-tonal shade with purple and lavender highlights, and brown lowlights. It's her favorite thus far.

GENERAL APPEARANCE
Naomi has always been considered lovely. Even when she was a kid stuck in glasses for a few years and had braces, she was still considered rather cute. Attractive. It was obvious, from back then, that she was a little duckling that was meant to be a swan. And all those who made that analogy years ago, who believed she would be a looker, couldn't have been more correct. The short little songbird from Brixton turned out to be quite lovely with her clear, practically flawless caramel complexion, brown eyes, and curly hair. Her body, a bit thinner three years back, now remains fit and healthy looking, making her hourglass frame that much more appealing and long legs seemingly sleeker. Granted, the curliness isn't a typical site as her mother seemed to shame it when Naomi was growing up, sending her to various stylists and friends to keep her locks sleek. Now, however, instead of constantly being in sweatpants or loose-fitted clothes because her mother could only afford hand-me-downs, Naomi never leaves her home looking composed in some way, though if you asked her label, she should be wearing skimpier items. At least they can't complain about one thing: Naomi likes looking good, whether that means she's in a dress and heels, or shorts and a Versace top.

QUIRKS: HABITS: ODDITIES
After being in America for so long and being groomed for the R&B/Pop world, Naomi's English accent seems to be almost lost, though you hear it more when she is really upset. No matter where she is or what she's doing, if Naomi is sitting, she will cross her legs. Despite how free she felt when she made the current hair decision, Naomi does wear a blonde weave whenever she returns to Hollywood and wear whatever hair color her mother and stylists require of her. Looks as if she's struggling to breathe when she's in an uncomfortable environment (ie. with her mother or Kid) and always seems to be sighing. It's really her trying to catch her breath and fend off a panic attack. Wakes up every morning at six am and does a jog around the neighborhood. Consistently smells like a blend of shea butter, vanilla, and a hint of jasmine. Exclusively uses Moroccan Oil products for her hair. Bites her lower lip when around someone she's attracted to. Always wears a necklace and toys with it when she feels nervous or anxious. Tends to lose herself in singing or humming, and sometimes dancing when she's cooking.

SKILLS: STRENGTHS: TALENTS
Singing {Her voice}, songwriting, playing instruments {acoustic guitar and piano} and dancing. Pretty much being a performer. Being able to give underhanded or witty remarks in such a way that it's hard for people to detect that they've been insulted until they allow her words to officially sink in. Quite easily can fall silent and still in a large crowd, allowing her perceptive eyes to pick up on things. Handling and saving money Can be very patient, especially as a teacher. Sticking up for other people, even if it means bordering on a manipulative edge to get the end results. Cooking, even without a recipe book. The one thing Naomi can say is that she tastes the dish before she prepares it.

FLAWS: WEAKNESSES: DEFICITS
Rather self-deprecating and blames herself for every wrong thing in her life, and sometimes in the lives of the ones around her. Tends not to live as freely or as boldly as she'll convince others to do. Her anxiety (panic) attacks. They happen at inopportune times, but mostly when she knows she has to interact with her label or mother. A child's tears.Does not stick up for herself often enough. Rather blunt and doesn't really believe in sugar-coating anything to anyone unless you're a child. Tends to internalize and bottle up her feelings, coming off during tense situations, as unaffected and as an ice queen. Does not believe in herself as much as she believes in others.

HOBBIES
Singing and writing lyrics Going on strolls, either alone or with friendsListening to music Jogging and going to yoga Watching movies

FEARS
øRape and being forced into any sexual act øLiving the rest of her life afraid øNever having a happy ending øAnything happening to the ones she cares about that she can't control øNever being able to get her own lyrics out there

SECRETS
Her engagement: Other than Evangeline and another close friend, no one knew that Naomi and [Godfrey Goa] were engaged. In fact, no one knew that they were dating. She had kept it a secret, a way to keep her label and her mother from ruining them. At the end of the day, they did.
The destruction of her engagement: As far as what [Godfrey Goa] might consider the truth, Naomi told him that the love they shared wasn't real. It was her hero worship to the guy that got in between her and her rough, drunk boyfriend at a club. Nothing more. Which is so far from the truth that it hurts Naomi to this day. The only reason she broke things off was because her mother snitched, Kid got really upset and hit on her, and then threatened [Godfrey Goa]'s life. She usually thinks he's all talk, but she knows how he can be on drugs and what gang affiliation he has.
Suicide: What her label wants you to think is that she was too drunk, playing around, and slipped off the balcony...the thing is, it's kinda hard to slip off a balcony you're a little too short to have slipped off in the first place...
Father: For the last three years, Naomi has been communicating with her biological father. Minnie told everyone that he was dead. Naomi's phone calls and Skype sessions would say otherwise.
Rent: Despite what her roommates think, they're not exactly paying rent at their apartment. Naomi's paid it off for the next three years unless any of them decide to move. Their money simply goes to utilities and food.

PERSONALITY
You've seen Naomi before. Probably not with the multi-tonal purple hair and tastefully selected, but still somehow sexy and classy outfits, but you've seen her before. And you've made speculations - everyone has, so don't feel ashamed. It's quite easy to. Since the second her mother discovered that Naomi had a voice, her daughter was no longer her daughter, but a blank slate. And she's painted on her. Her manager painted on her. Her label painted on her. Hollywood has made various illustrations on her, so much so that it's not hard to describe Naomi, at times, as manufactured. Despite how much most singers and entertainers want to believe that they come into mainstream Hollywood with the intent on changing the systematic forms of oppression, at the end of the day, those oppressions persist and in Naomi's case, they sell. Especially sex. Naomi was created to be the girl that every guy, older and younger, wants and every other girl longs to be like. She's talented, there's no taking that away from her. Her voice is something special, she picks on choreography easily and can make up some on her own, and she's quite skillful with writing lyrics and playing instruments. But still, she has never been and, considering how thorough her mother's machinations have been, she might always be resigned to this fate, so far lost in this double consciousness that sometimes, she doesn't know which part of herself is the real Naomi and the Nomi they've created.

And because of this, it is very easy for Naomi to seem rather closed-off and rather blunt. Again, there are those speculations. Despite the rave reviews from Nicki Minaj, how much Beyoncé thinks she's a sweetheart, or how at home Trey Songz felt when he was invited into her Los Angeles penthouse, Naomi is still considered a bit of an ice queen, but that is far from the truth. For one, Naomi doesn't believe in sugar-coating truths for people and some might even say that that's part of her appeal. That she's so refreshingly honest, even if she's simply still telling a lie. After all, no one sugar-coated what they wanted from her in the industry and Naomi, in her core, doesn't believe in lying. Not unless people start turning the more personal questions to herself, and that is when she shuts off. Which is more of a defense mechanism than her being a liar, but it's probably best to never bring that up to her. Also, Naomi is simply composed. Combined with her label's control over her persona is her mother's upper-crust lifestyle from London, leaving Naomi to be nothing short of debonair and graceful. She is to warrant respect and admiration, maybe a bit of lust, but she is to remain a mystery. And she is, even to those who seek to control her. After all, Naomi isn't completely subjective to the manipulation around her. Despite how much she's been told not to be friends with everyone since they might not actually be in it for friendship (and despite the people she has been requested to be around aren't in it for friendship either), those aforementioned speculations on her character are from people who don't know the girl who would cook for all of the residents on her block for dinner. The same one who would take over the rent for her roommates so that they could struggle less. Who would spend time giving vocal lessons to children and just being with them to see them smile. Who would visit a fan in a hospital, even if it wasn't on her schedule, with a large teddy bear, candy, toys, and balloons just for the heck of it. Not many people would know that Naomi is far more compassionate than she was designed to be. In a way, that's how she rebels, clinging to what her heart wants rather than what someone else wants. However, it does not take away the fact that Naomi is still hypersexualized and objectified, not just by a board of powerful men and society, but by the one person in her life who should've been protecting her from it.

Which has lent to a Naomi whose voice can only be heard on stage, never on her own behalf. It leaves it easy for people to think she's uncaring because she normally internalizes, so much so that someone would never know how much damage they've done to her or even what she's harboring on the inside. And it's a lot, a lot more than she'll ever admit. Naomi is far more broken than her soft smiles will ever give away, and it's even easy for her to hide it from herself. After all, as long as it remains on the inside, she doesn't come off as weak as she (and her mother) thinks she is. Naomi is self-deprecating, always her worst critic and blaming herself for her predicaments, sometimes even for the things that happen around her. While she'll be protective, in that quiet and always-watching-over-my-little-ducklings-and-ready-to-cut-a-bitch kind of way, for those she cares about, it's hard for her to associate that kind of care and concern with something that she is deserving of. In other words, Naomi doesn't even know her own worth. After all, if her mother never thought her wroth anything to protect and she's only been met with a sort of violence from the same people who basically own her career, why should she protect herself? At least, these are the thoughts she has but never says out loud. After all, admitting such insecurities is weakness and no matter how much her very core trembles with the weight of holding up their expectations and subjugation, she has to stand strong. Even if her soul says it can't take anymore.

HAPPIEST MEMORY
"There are two moments that truly made me smile, so much that I'm close to tears just thinking about them."
The first and foremost memory will always be when her younger sister said her first word. Naomi was six at the time and while her mother was out and about on odd jobs, she was at home watching her baby sister. Hadiyah had been questionable when it came to saying Mama and Chinyere thought there was something wrong. But when Naomi taught her to say her name, Hadiyah gurgled before blurting out, "Mimi." It didn't matter how much Chinyere frowned, that day has always been special to Naomi and she still teases her sister about it to this day. The second memory isn't really a memory, but a series of memories - a feeling. Warmth and safety. She remembers knowing Nicholas loved her, but the one thing that has remained with her is the feeling of safety he was able to provide. She hadn't felt that way in a long time.

SADDEST MEMORY
The first wouldn't really be a sad memory as it is a traumatic one. It was a photo shoot for Maxim and it was just after Naomi turned nineteen. She was still growing acclimated to wearing more revealing items of clothing and during the shoot, she ended up wearing only a jacket and underwear. After a few poses, the photographer demanded that she take the jacket off. It hurt because she looked at her mother - rather pointedly and looking very uncomfortable, Hadiyah would note later - but Chinyere demanded that she do it. She had still been able to cover herself, but there were so many people watching, Naomi felt like she was on an auction. The second was having to break up with Nicholas. She had told a lot of lies to cover things up, but the worst and most painful was telling him that she didn't love him.

HISTORY
Naomi is a product of a black man from Brixton trying to make it out of his impoverished neck of the woods and a rich little girl from the more elite side of London. Chinyere, at the time, had been the apple of her father's eye and taking a sociology course during her freshman year, a course Jacob took on as an anthropology and biology double-major. There was no class held in Brixton, just research that Chinyere wanted to do and Jacob happened to have partially the same idea. They met, they talked, it was nice, and soon enough, they were dating. It wasn't like Chinyere was looking for romance. Jacob was, but she definitely wasn't. Jacob just so happened to be someone her father wouldn't approve of and every girl has a moment in her life when she wants to rebel against her father's expectations, if only for a moment. And it was fun and nice. Jacob was definitely attractive, had that intellectual appeal coupled with a bad boy edge, and Chinyere was the opposite of a good number of the girls Jacob had been with. However, things ended about seven months later and after a week of being sick, Chinyere discovered herself pregnant and very much single. Jacob had left for a summer abroad program in Japan and she, originally, didn't care to notify him about it. Instead, she turned to her family only to be shunned. Not only did she mess with a guy her father would have never had approved of (not to mention Jacob was darker-skinned than anyone in their family and that just would not do), but she was pregnant out of wedlock and only eighteen. Chinyere thought his wrath would be as simple as her being grounded or forced to get an abortion. She had never fathomed her father would disown her and have her mother and sister do the same.

Once seeing that she was unable to get support from her family, an emotional and well, poor, Chinyere went to Jacob's family, who rejected her as well. His mother knew from day one that she did not care about him as much as he had cared for her, and refused to let some elitist whore shove some baby on their doorsteps. Mrs. Hart didn't even trust that the unborn child was his. So, rejected by both his family (who failed to notify him of the pregnancy) and her own, Chinyere was left to give up her full scholarship to school since they didn't allow pregnant studies at such a prestigious institute, move to a section of Brixton with a few friends, and waited out her pregnancy. Before Naomi was born, she had worked several different small jobs, her education and work experience at the time being enough to gain her some money. However, little rich girl Chinny who had never cared for anyone other than herself, had a tiny mouth to feed and a body to dress - a body that would always have to grow. Naomi, at a young age, had to get used to hand-me-downs and repaired items of clothing, only rarely getting something extremely new. Chinyere struggled and hated the way her life had been set up, and even blamed her daughter to some extent. However, she couldn't blame neither Naomi or Hadiyah for being pregnant with the latter when Naomi was only six. It seemed to be an endless cycle of being fucked over for Chinyere and she hated the idea of having to not live the luxurious life she had been afforded years before. She had just been on last wit's end when she came home from work to hear one of the tenants at their current apartment playing the guitar, the whisper of a lullaby along the notes she was playing. However, that was not what captivated her. No, it was the very crystal clear melodious sounds erupting from her eldest child's mouth. From there on, Chinyere schemed a brilliant future, even if it meant taking away her eldest child's childhood.

Seducing her way back into her second baby daddy's good graces, she got him to leave his current fiancée and propose to her. It was only around Naomi's ninth year of living, however, that she allowed her daughter to sing in front of him. Chinyere had timed it perfectly. She needed to bide her time in England with him so that it wouldn't look like what it was, make him think she loved him and that the girls loved him. At least, Hadiyah did since he was her father, and Naomi did as well to some extent, but when she sang his favorite Aretha Franklin song after a dinner, Chinyere saw her future quite clearly. After all, Jackson - originally from America - dabbled in a few choice business endeavors, one of which had something to do with Hollywood. However, he wouldn't move them immediately to Los Angeles like Chinyere would have wanted. Unlike Chinyere, who chose to see Naomi's talent as a way to never have to struggle again and show what she's capable of to the families that abandoned her (not at all taking into consideration that it was more of her daughter's talent that would be doing the work), he saw Naomi as a potentially great artist and he wanted to strengthen it. So, for the entire year before moving, he had her attending vocal lessons with a very skilled vocal trainer from Cambridge, an engagement Naomi participated in every two days after school. Soon, the year would pass and the family would move over to Atlanta to meet with some executives and the man who would later become Naomi's manager. For the next four years, Naomi underwent extreme training. She spent less time in school and with tutors, constantly attending etiquette classes, hip hop classes, dance lessons, vocal training - all ways to assimilate her in the R&B/pop world. Naomi wouldn't be able to tell you who the girl was that lived next door, mostly because she wouldn't know. She barely had time to make friends, Hadiyah had the childhood. Not Naomi. Soon, she was fourteen and Cash Money Billionaire Records was looking at her after the many YouTube videos Naomi (more like her mother) posted. She was talent, a fresh face, an attractive - she was marketable and they liked it. So, once more, Naomi was moving.

And then she met Kid Cupid. At least, he didn't introduce himself to her as such. He was just Michael, wanted to be a rapper under the label his father owned, and had a habit of doing whatever he wanted. He was rebellious, fun, hard, and Naomi was a bit intrigued. She had never been able to actually date anyone and Michael had that edge of danger that originally captivated her. His haughtiness and overall arrogance was not attractive, but during those young years, she had been able to look over it. They dated without anyone having to force her...until she discovered Michael's drug abuse and knew he would be far from the one for her. However, after being seen so many times with the same group, it was impossible for the board to not see them as a potentially great couple, at least for publicity means. She was the new good girl on Hollywood's block, he was the repudiated bad boy. It garnered media attention and Naomi was asked to simply act. Besides, she didn't hate Kid. He was still pretty cool, they played video games with the others who would later become a part of her entourage, and he still wasn't that controlling. However, the next three years would prove to be the most trying thus far because his drug abuse grew more evident, there were various articles, and he became...handsy. He never sexually assaulted her, but he had no issues reminding her that no one would care if she did. Naomi belonged to him, in a way. And even when she told her mother, Chinyere simply told her to stop acting like a little baby. She was getting a dream come true. Naomi was becoming friends with Beyoncé, having dinners with Janet Jackson, and even performing for various events and guests. She was becoming a big name because of the label - because of the kid. And her mother wouldn't let her leave just because of something as simple as being uncomfortable. So, Naomi sucked it up.

And sucked it up...and sucked it up...regardless of the bruises Kid left behind when she consistently refused his demands for sex. Why should she complain about being objectified when she was winning awards, deals, collaborations? Like her mother said, this was all a dream come true. However, the real dream come true for Naomi came in the form of Evangeline Babineaux and Nicholas Yamada, her best friend and the first and only guy Naomi has ever fallen in love with. Her entourage frequented the club scene and came across the HUB. Kid, like always, got too rowdy and Naomi had been busy talking it up with Evangeline, whom she had just met and became immediate friends with. A few agonizing seconds late and Kid was ready to go, grabbing Naomi a little too roughly and practically dragging her to the door. Nicholas had stepped in just in time and maybe a bit of it had been hero worship at the time, but Naomi was interested from the second Kid was trapped in a police car and taken away to a station. Whatever her and Nicholas started out having was kept secret for the entire first year and Naomi fell hard. She felt warm and free with him, able to show what she had learned from the cooks at her estate, and, more importantly, she was safe. He didn't seem to care about the girl on stage, purring about sex in a skimpy outfit that would make Madonna choke. So, it wasn't a surprise to even Evangeline when Naomi said yes to his proposal. However, she made the mistake of wearing the ring back to LA one day and her mother flipped. But Naomi held steadfast, so her mother took it further. She told Kid and the label, the former who went off. So far that Naomi's body ached the following day and not enough makeup could hide all of the bruises. But no one would fault him for it. He was the CEO's son and Naomi belonged to the label. She was their property and as Kid said, she needed to end things with Nick or Kid's crew would come after him. And, after being beaten as hard as she had been, Naomi was rightfully scared. So, she lied and told Nick she didn't love him, gave him the ring back, and made it at least to Evangeline before crying.

But her real breakdown would be nearly six months later. Naomi had lost weight and was rather despondent, not even pretending to put up a fight against whatever her mother wanted. It should have alerted Chinyere to something, it worried her real friends in the entourage, Hadiyah and Jackson. It all came to a head after a particular rowdy night at a club in Bel Air that Naomi broke. She hadn't drank nearly as much as the others, but when they stopped at a hotel for a quick costume change, she told her friends she was going on the balcony for fresh air. Luckily, at least one of the guys caught her just in time before she fell over. Of course, the label covered it up, claimed Naomi had been too drunk and got her to reiterate that. And Naomi was comfortable with comforting her mother with that lie. She didn't think Chinyere would have cared anyway. But it was enough to let her know that she needed to leave. So, while doing whatever photo shoot she was required to do, Naomi rented out a three bedroom apartment in San Francisco, got it filled with furniture, and once everything was secure, she took off the weave she was known for, and straightened out her own hair. No one would recognize it and with the help of her entourage, what with one of the girls posing as Naomi going out for beach fun, she hightailed it in her less expensive SUV and left for San Francisco, not even bothering to tell Nicholas she would be nearby. She needed the escape and in the next year and a half, Naomi gained some weight back, experimented with her hair, grew accustomed to being away from Hollywood, and simply being with at least someone who cared. It pissed her label and mother off, and they originally demanded that she returned, but Naomi promised to come back when they needed her. It wasn't like she was doing anything but living, and it still pisses Chinyere off because she no longer has as much control, but it was enough to make Naomi feel like she's maintaining something. Over what, she still has yet to figure out. Too bad she's not exactly healed yet either.

I am the diamond you left in the dust
I am the future you lost in the past
Seems like I never compared
Wouldn't notice if I disappeared

You stole the love that I saved for myself
And I watched you give it to somebody else
But these scars no longer I hide
I found the light you shut inside
Couldn't love me if you tried

Am I still not good enough?
Am I still not worth that much?
I'm sorry for the way my life turned out
Sorry for the smile I'm wearing now
Guess I'm still not good enough

Does it burn
Knowing I used all the pain?
Does it hurt
Knowing you're fuel to my flame?
Don't look back
Don't need your regrets
Thank God you left my love behind
Couldn't change me if you tried

Am I still not good enough?
Am I still not worth that much?
I'm sorry for the way my life turned out
Sorry for the smile I'm wearing now
Guess I'm still not good enough

Release your curse
'Cause I know my worth
Those wounds you made are gone
You ain't seen nothing yet
Your love wore thin
And I never win
You want the best
So sorry that's clearly not me
This is all I can be

Am I still not good enough?
Am I still not worth that much?
I'm sorry for the way my life turned out
Sorry for the smile I'm wearing now
Guess I'm still not good enough
