Allison Bertrand's Story

Allison took a very long shower, the cool water soothing her away from the heat that the Arizona weather was dishing out all around her. So long that she heard one person enter and leave, taking her own shower as well. When she was wonderfully relaxed and refreshed Allison stepped out and dried off, leisurely taking her time with putting on her clothes and gloves. After doing things like washing her face and brushing her teeth she pulled her hair up and back out of her face before tying it there. Leaving some hair to frame her face she put on her mask and grabbed everything to make the short walk back to the hall. She kept herself from looking at the painting she did, embarrassed about it and not wanting people to think that she had done it.

When she got to her room she hesitated at the door, hearing two people talking to each other, unsure of what to do. Allison didnt want to interrupt the conversation but she remembered that it was going to be curfew soon and she didnt want to get in trouble the first night. It would be too much hassle to do that. Fidgeting with her bag she stood for another moment before walking into the room to find, a boy, a girl, and a dog. Which was a strange combination to be there, and she wasn't sure if animals were suppose to be there, but still she was sure there could be stranger. Looking at them for a moment longer Allison nodded at them before going to her side of the room to put away her things.

"Nah, go for it." Ty replied to Judy wondering if it was ok if she laid down on his bed. "It took me a couple weeks to get to the point where I wouldn't burn everything I touched. Then the following months I learned how to generate fire and control it."
"My powers are tied to my emotions. Anger in particular. I was a very different guy back then. I haven't always been cool and collected like I am now. I had to change, or else I risked hurting, well everyone." Ty explained. "I learned tricks to help me out. That's what I was doing before you came in. I completely focus on a single object, in my case I use a candle's flame, and I clear my mind. I listen to 'Stairway to Heaven', it helps me remain calm as well as clearing my mind."
"So all in all it took me about 6 months to gain my level of control. Once I accepted that fire is...well for lack of a better word it's alive. It has it's own wants and needs. Everything went a hell of a lot smoother. " Ty started to talk about everything he went through to master his power, but he felt that he's shared enough of his history for one day.
Then all of a sudden another girl walked into his room. She went over to the other bed and sat down. 'Oh, she must be my roommate.' Ty thought. "Sup? I'm Tyson, but call me Ty. I guess I'm your new roomie." Ty introduced himself. "This is my friend Judy and her dog Panther." Ty then reached out to shake her hand. "Pleasure to meet ya."

As Ty talked, Judy began rubbing Panthers head. ”So lets say, someone punches you in the face, what would you do?” she asked, tilting her head. "You do seem way to controlled, if I had your ability, I'd probably be setting my enimies on fire, or just anyone who looked at me or Panther funny." she chuckled. Just then she saw someone enter the room, Ty beat her to the introduction. ”Yeah, I and Panther don’t bite, so what brings you to this hell hole?” she asked in her nicest tone of voice.

Panther jumped off the bed and sat down by the girls feet, wagging her tail.

Allison sat down on the bed, feeling awkward and not really knowing what to do about the whole situation. She didnt want to be rude and just sleep, it would be weird as well really. When she sat down the girls dog came and sat down beside her on the floor, not wanting to accidentally make it run and hide she moved her legs away a bit. They were both talking to her, but she didn't know what information would be okay to let known. Some of the people here could be very dangerous and she didnt want the dangerous people to know that much about her, as little as possible really. My name is Allison, Im here just like you two and everyone else I guess.

"Well Allison it's nice to meet ya." Ty replied to his new roommate's introduction. "So what's your thing?" Ty bluntly asked. "I'm a pyro." he then opened his hand and created a fireball in his palm.
He then closed his hand, getting rid of the fireball. "I can create, control, and shape fire. I'm also immune to it." Ty took himself a cigarette out and lite it up.
Ty let out a big puff of smoke. "I've also been working on this." Ty began moving his hands around like he was shaping clay, and the small cloud of smoke began to be take a shape similar to Panther. Ty then abruptly stopped and the smoke just dissipated in the air.
Ty started rubbing his temple like he was in the middle of a fierce migraine. "Damn. I forgot how much that stings." Ty complained. "Yeah, manipulating smoke is a million times harder then fire. No substance to it. Gives me a wicked headache when I try."

Judy frowned and looked at Ty’s hand. ”If it hurts, don’t do it silly” she said, playfully tapping his cheek. ”I talk to animals, and I can change my appearance.” she said, turning her hair from brown to a mixture of cotton candy blue, and pink, her eyes now a bright yellow. ”See?” she said looking to Ty, then Allison. Panther then trotted over to the bed Ty and Judy were sitting on, Judy then took a really good look at Ty, then looked down at her feet. Oh no, I think I have a crush on him’ she thought, feeling her face get hot, she then made her hair grow so it would cover her face.

The migraine soon subsided. He was a little surprised that Judy had some limited shape-shifting abilities. Ty raised a eye brow at the way Judy was acting. 'What's up with her?' Ty's attention then returned to Allison. He could till she was uncomfortable with his powers. Ty's expression changed to a mixture of sadness and concern. 'Another person with a fear of fire? Didn't realize that it was that common. Great, now my roommate thinks I'm a monster.'
"Are you ok?" Ty asked Allison. "Do you have a problem with fire? It's ok if you do, I understand. I've already met someone today with a fear of fire. And if it bothers you so much, I'll try not to fire up around you." Ty then flashed her a genuine smile.

Allison looked over Judy, deciding that if this is how she acted all the time that the girl would tire her out a lot and very quickly. Turning her gaze back to Tyson as he spoke she lifted her eyebrows up. She was smiling behind the mask about the silly pun, they have always been a weakness of hers and they still were even at a time like this. Shaking her head she answered, No I just do not like the heat, fire is okay. The heat is awful.

Judy looked back at Allison, ”You don’t mind fire, but you don’t like heat? Well heat and fire kinda go along together” she said with a calmer tone. Panther then knocked Judy closer to Ty. ”Panther! No, bad girl” she scolded her dog who didn’t care, and just sat there. ”So Allison, you gotta give us something” she said, looking at her, with a tilted head.

Ty scooted over a little bit when Panther knocked Judy closer to him, just so she could have some more room. 'Seriously what's up with them?' "The heat bothers you huh? I'm from San Diego, this heat's nuttin. Well that's easy for me to say since I shoot fire from my hands."
"Yeah, you didn't say what your power is." Ty noticed. "If you're not comfortable with your abilities it's ok." Ty said trying to reassure Allison. "I'm a walking flamethrower, and Judy's a real-life Dr. Dolittle, you don't need to worry about being feared or a freak around here."
"Is anybody truly normal?" Ty added.

Judy gave a watch what you say look to him and scooted away. ”Maybe because I kinda think you’re cute, or Panther might want to go to the vet” she said looking at Panther who now cowered under the adjacent bed. "It's fine if you don't want to tell us what you have, just know, we won't hurt you" she said with a reasuring smile. And sat on the floor. "Or maybe because I like you" she said and quickly ran out, to her room, Panther following behind her
