Introduction
It was suppose to be a panacea, a cure for every disease, to prevent future ones from developing, it was meant to enhance the senses and the mind . . . it was suppose to grant biological perfection to humanity. It came from a cooperation effort between the brightest minds on the planet, scientists, engineers and doctors, working together to form what they hoped would be the pinnacle of human intellect. They were nanobots, created to end the plight of human frailty . . . and, they worked. Injected into the bloodstream, the nanobots did what it was they were suppose to do—they brought humans their organic faultlessness. Though this much was indeed the truth, there was a secret hiding within these marvels of science, a secondary effect no one could’ve predicted.
When the human host fell prey to a height of adrenalin . . . the nanobots reacted to this and would change their human into a giant android to called Titans, that would fight in service of their government.
The potentiality of this side effect was realized by the major governments of the world, and ultimately, it was taken advantage of. With this, they began to form their own nanobot-laced humans, turning these souls into living weapons who would act as a line for their nation’s defense. It was found that those subjects tested by the governments reacted differently to each nation’s reworked nanobots, and to their nation’s spiritual standings (also known as NSS.) However, by law, each government is only allowed to retain twelve live subjects at a single time. These are those known to the world though, and it’s not at all uncommon for this rule to be broken in secret. . . .
Knowing that adrenaline would force a transformation, 2cc of the Adrenaline drug, Epinephrine, or as its unaffectionatly called Rush, is injected into the blood stream will cause 1 hour of Titan Form. (obviously, 1cc will cause 30 minutes, but they recommend dosages for hours, easy to keep track of) Each hour in Titan form takes twice as long for the subject to physically and mentally recover. After 6 hours in Titan form will cause you to go into cardiac arrest when you come down and most likely die. Some Titans have been forced to remain in their Titan form. A transformation can be caused from the natural occurrence of adrenaline but it is uncertain how long the form could be maintained.
Those subjects, the ones used by the governments of the world, their very lives are expendable. They are people taken from the nooks and crannies of society—people no one would notice having gone missing. They are homeless, suicidal, maybe even petty criminals. . . . They are the outcasts of normal everyday life, they are considered replaceable. These poor souls are forced to undergo the process which will change them into a Titan, some die within the very introduction of it, others are killed in the competition for a position, and those that lose the competition for power are put down.
They are treated as less than even lab rats, their lives held with little remote value . . . the only way to survive as a Titan is to show no mercy, and for one to throw their utter all into it. If you’re weak, you’ll be put down and replaced without a second thought.
And though the world seems to stand at peace, the cruel reality is that at any moment, things seem ready to crumble . . . and every government is more than prepared to call out their Titans, and to place them into battle.

Characters
Please follow the character skeleton provided below in order to make your character—in regards to the creation of your Titan, please contact God_of_Darkness to discuss ideas and which position you would want for your character, he will be designing them personally. Your personal goal will be to focus on developing the human side of your character, God_of_Darkness is open to concept ideas and ideas regarding powers. The focus for the slots at the moment are to fill the twelve American sector slots, these slots are based upon the twelve signs of the zodiac. Later on, slots from other areas may be filled.
One more thing to consider is that Titans are typically people who lived upon the very fringes of society—people who would be assumed uncared for and those who would not be missed if they vanished. . . .
As far as character slots go, the only ones in the American sector that have requirements are Virgo and Gemini, Virgo is to be female without question and Gemini can be a set of twins; boy/girl, girl/girl or someone with a split persona.
One Shot Characters
More often than not, people will have to compete with another titan for their position in the sector. So you can have a one shot character, or OSC, a character made solely to fight against the main character, these may be difficult battles. While your character may not die, they could be horribly maimed. These are great characters for those that want more to happen or have more to do, and if the character is good enough, it could become a renagade or resource. Not nearly as much details or information about these characters are needed.
Renegade: an escaped Titan
Resource: a Titan illegally kept to be used by the Sector

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 5 authors
That wasn’t exactly and easy task. Keeping sane, and keeping your humanity when you knew that there were horrors going on right under your nose, but you had to accept that to make any sort of impact. Or, that was what she had to do—she knew that terrible things were always going on, but the only thing she herself could do was to try to act as an anchor for the Titan subjects, be a reminder of their humanity, and let them know that there were still people around who valued their existence as people and not as just weapons. . . . Just like my father.
This goal of hers, this reason, it was why she guilty of pulling many all-nighters and staying within the walls of the project facility for sometimes weeks on end . . . she wasn’t sure, and honestly she was beginning to lose track of the time, but she had a feeling she was going on her third straight week of staying there now. She was probably actually in the hospital more than she was actually at her own home. But, it was her choice to do this, to live as she did.
Again, she’d been up all night before, reading, theorizing and doing some of her own research on the Adrenalin Project. . . . Trying to understand more about it, how it worked and why it was things took the turn they did so long ago when the side effects of the nanobots were first uncovered. It was a curious thing, of course she understood the basics, but she wanted to figure out things she was kept from knowing in total. She’d been trained mainly to be a doctor, she was made to understand the workings of machines and nanotech to better be able to work with the project subjects, but just the basics of it, her main area of expertise lay in medicines and health. And, she’d keep at this until she could no longer do it. . . .
Stretching her body out, Evande Sterling looked at herself in the mirror in front of her, her pink hair still damp from the shower she’d taken not too long ago. There’d been a point that morning where she finally couldn’t keep at reading anymore, and she had to do something in order to shake herself back into reality, and a shower seemed like the best option. With a small sigh escaping from the woman’s lips, a set of glasses were slid onto her face, covering up her blue eyes. Just being quiet, she blankly stared at her reflection in the mirror before her. Not thinking much of anything about her appearance, the only things that were really crossing her mind had to do with her duties for the day, what it was she had to do as a doctor.
After another moment of silence, she stood away from the mirror before she spoke, “I think it’s time to head back to the hospital . . . if I’m right, Blonde’s here now and there’s no telling what shenanigans he’s gotten up to with the Titans. . . .” the pink-haired woman adjusted her glasses a bit before grabbing her damp towel, threw it over her shoulder and headed out of the door from the woman’s showers. Oh, Evande had been around long enough to know the sadistic tendencies that Dr. Blonde got up to in order to keep the Titans under his control and all that. . . . And knowing well enough that, she knew that there might already be injuries to treat.
Without making much of a noise, the woman stepped out into the hallway, the door shutting behind her. She was more than ready to head on back to her station for the day when her eyes happened across the newest face to join the American Titans; Jacqueline Labelle, the Fourth Leo. The teenager who replaced the Third Leo without warning so soon ago. . . . She was simply sitting there in the hallway, alone, looking completely out of it. Of course, that was to be expected given her current circumstances. . . . Evande though, she had a feeling that there was a lot more going on in that girl’s head than just confusion and denial about where she now was and what her fate had in store for her. Honestly, she didn’t look like she wanted to be disturbed, but she was sitting in an awkward place really, right across from the showers more or less. . . . I’m not going to make her move since she is free to sit there if she wants, but I think I’ll still say hello to the girl. . . .
Jacqli of course was still minding herself, trying to repair the crack that had formed in her mask after she’d been shown a semblance of pity before, that single instant had been enough to shake her up to the point that she didn’t know how to proceed now. She was still just trying to keep herself from crying, from utterly losing it to her delusions. Why had she been shown anything, she didn’t want that. All she wanted was to be left alone to herself, she was just a disappointment waiting to happen. . . . The last thing she felt like coping with then was another person, so when a cheery woman’s voice penetrated the air and pulled her from her own world, Jacqli couldn’t help but draw her crystal-eyes upward to see whom had said, “Hello~” to her.
A sigh came from the girl’s throat as she forced a vacant expression to form over her face and she replied with a solemn, “Hello Dr. Sterling.”

The cheer in the woman’s voice was almost enough to make Jacqli cringe—she didn’t want or need to hear that. She didn’t want to hear that; hell, she didn’t even want to be dealing with another person right now, all she desired was quiet, silence, aloneness. . . . Jacqli desired isolation from everyone right now, was that so wrong? If she had to put up with company, or people being around her, couldn’t they just mind their own selves rather than bother with her? Wouldn’t that be so much easier for them, just worrying about themselves? She wasn’t worth the worry, the effort, she was just . . . here, that’s all, she was just here, nothing else. That was it. Just a replacement, a poor excuse for a replacement that shouldn’t have even needed to be brought here. she thought, swallowing before attempting to speak to the doctor. “I’m just . . . sitting here Dr. Sterling, that’s all.” Jacqli’s voice was hollow, and as empty as the forced expression that overtook her young face.
Hearing the tone that her voice carried caused the smile on Evande’s face to falter. She’s . . . a broken bird-type, isn’t she? Just like most everyone here in this building. Can’t say I’m surprised; even if I don’t know about her history from before she was brought here, all I have to do is look at her arms and legs to know she’s seen Hell before all of this . . . and that Hell is all she’s going to be seeing from here on in. The pink-haired woman found herself sighing, placing a hand upon her hip as she pushed her glasses up her face. The woman opened her blue eyes again and glanced back down to the crystal-eyed girl, “You sure that’s really it Miss Labelle? You’re just . . . sitting in front of the showers because you feel like it? When there’s about a bajillion other places in here you could sit just because you felt like it?”
So . . . the good doctor was going to press at her, wonderful, just wonderful. Jacqli didn’t need this now; not when Taurus’ little display of pity earlier had already cracked her mask. Anything more could well pull it apart, to the point that she couldn’t fix it for a while; then everyone would be exposed to an even more pathetic side of her! What could she do to shake Evande from her, to get the doctor to just leave her alone? What could she do to get everyone to do just that? Taking in a deep breath Jacqli drew her eyes away from the pink-headed woman before her, and glanced to the side. Talking to people was easier when you didn’t look at them. “Is there a rule about sitting here or something ma’am?” she asked.
Crossing her arms, Evande knelt down before the girl, “No, no there isn’t a rule; I just found it odd that a young lady such as yourself would be wasting your time sitting in front of the showers of all places.”
Surprisingly, Jacqli could not hold back the fact that an expression of anger was beginning to form over her face at what the doctor had said, ‘wasting time.’ Trapped in this delusion, I have no time of my own, all of it belongs to the people here. I have no time to waste, I am of no use to anyone, the same can well be said for my time. she thought before speaking, “It isn’t as if there is much to do here Dr. Sterling, and it unless I’m given an order, I don’t think any time I spend doing anything matters.”
So, she’s adopted that mindset, has she . . . ? Evande sighed, Not that I should be surprised, she’s seen the worst of the world and it has to be hard for one so young to go on ahead into the future thinking anything might be better when life’s been like this. It’s people like her that keep me here . . . even if I can’t change the circumstances around her, I can at least remind her that she is a human being. A warm smile formed over her face, “Well sweetie . . . I’m sorry for bothering you, whatever you think of your time now, that’s up to you.” With a grunt, Evande stood up to her feet, and turned to the right, ready to head back to the hospital to assume her doctorly duties. Before this, the bespectacled woman looked back to the Fourth Leo and spoke a few more words, “I can’t tell you why it is that you’re here, or how long you’re going to last in these walls, but, I can say one thing from my time here Miss Labelle, you should do your best to make the most of the time you do have, even if it’s uncertain. Make friends with the other Titans, and accept any kindness they might show to you . . . even if you don’t think you deserve it.”
Jacqli stopped her breathing when she heard what the doctor had to say, and kept her eyes drawn away from the woman as she walked away. Damn it, I didn’t need to hear. . . . she thought, biting down on the inside of her cheek as she drew a hand up and over her eyes. She’d gotten the last thing she needed then from Evande; a show of emotion. Paul’s few words had been a catalyst for a potential breakdown, but Evande’s last bit was enough to cause a landslide if she didn’t get a hold on herself ASAP. I don’t belong here, I know I don’t. Kindness, a show of sympathy, pity, I don’t deserve any of that! I’m here to replace someone who shouldn’t have been replaced, someone who should still be here. A person who left an incredible legacy behind. . . . A tear ran down the girl’s face without her realizing it, slipping passed her hand and down her cheek. Her chest felt heavy . . . all of her felt that way; her body felt weighted down.“I’m nothing more than a part of this insane delusion, a part of it that doesn’t belong.” She mumbled to herself.
Paul got out of the showers quickly, grabbing up is clothes and quickly began to dress. As he was finishing putting on his shirt, he stepped out of the shower room and into the hallway, seeing the new girl sitting on the floor just outside the doors. He didn't think much about it, he just yelled out over the siren. "Let's go kid, we've got a mission." He extended his hand down to her to help her off the floor. Paul may not have liked the sector, but they still protected the country from some pretty bad people out there, they're self sacrifice was protecting millions. That was at least his way to rationalize this whole crazy program.
The memories were enough to haunt her, to scare her, to make her remember why it was she’d said yes to something she knew she shouldn’t have. Even if she wasn’t ready for this, she had to do it. She . . . she had to.
Even if she wasn’t worth the time of day for anyone here, even if everyone was better off not bothering with her, she had something she had to do now; although she had no right to even be called the successor to the Third Leo, she still had something she had to do. A breath left her lungs as someone stirred her from her thoughts, catching her off guard and getting her attention. ”Let’s go kid, we’ve got a mission.” Jacqli looked up as a hand was held out to her; her partner. Swallowing back what doubt she could, she nodded with a vacant expression before she took hold of Paul’s outstretched hand and took his help in getting to her feet. Despite her expression, there was no doubt that Jacqli was trembling in trepidation.
Worthless, problematic and caught within the hold of a powerful delusion, she had to cope with her world. What her life was giving to her; and even if she didn’t deserve to even be breathing in the world, she . . . she was. Jacqli was doing something, her time belonged to others now, and only worth something to others. She was someone’s field partner, even if she had no right to be . . . she was someone’s partner, she had to work with someone, help them. Even if she didn’t know what was coming, and even if she knew that she was probably more trouble than she was help for anything, she had to try her damnest, to be the least of a bother as possible. At least if she could help out even a bit, prevent an injury or . . . anything, she wouldn’t be so much of a bother for Paul. The less of a problem she was, the better it was for everyone around her.
“. . . .all right, let’s get this done.” She murmured, before heading off to the common area, uncertainty passing through her eyes.
The setting changes from Not So Distant Future to L4T8-001 (First Mission)
As Paul and Jacqli walked up to them the one on the left spoke first in a monotone voice. "Special Agent Taurus, Special Agent Leo, I am Mr. Red."
The man on the right stepped forward speaking in an almost exact identical tone. "And I am Mr. Blue, we will be escorting you up to heli-pad. You are required to be blindfolded and restrained." With that the two men placed locking helmets that canceled out all sound, sight and smell, and then their arms were bound behind their backs with forearm restraints. They were then lead out of the commons area through the entrance hall to the elevator. The four of them took the elevator to the roof where a stealth heli-jet was already roaring and ready to go. It blew strong air at the four of them as they loaded into the heli-jet.
After about an hour in the air, Paul and Jacqli's restraints were released and the helmets were removed. Sitting across from them were Mr.Red and Mr.Blue. Mr.Red spoke up, "We will now brief you on your mission."
Mr. Blue than said, "As always, remain calm and cooperative or we will use deadly force if nesscessary."
Paul rubbed his wrists and streched his arms, which were sore from his restraints.
A sigh came from her as she drew her crystal-colored eyes up to the officials sitting in front of her and her partner. Even though the restraints had indeed hurt her arms, she made no effort to show signs of discomfort; the pain they caused was a trivial matter, and in her conscious memory, she could recall much worse. . . . Jacqli simply adjusted her ponytail before she drew her hands into her laps without a sound coming from her. All she wanted to do was get this over with as quickly as possible so that she could go back to simply biding away the time that no longer belonged to her. She just wanted to go back into the delusion that was now her life. The sooner I can be alone again, the better. . . . she thought, eyelids lowering a bit as a passive expression stayed over her features.
All she had to do was complete the task these men had to give her and Taurus, that was all; she just had to make sure that she wasn’t a burden to anyone, just . . . do her duty and then she could be alone again with her thoughts, and not a bother to anyone. “Please, just tell us what we need to do, sirs. . . . I just want to get this done with, the sooner it’s over, the better for everyone.” Jacqli spoke, her voice quiet.
Paul sat forward and snatched the paper folder from Mr.Blue, which contained the information. "I'll breif her, you guys just stay out of the way, as usual. Nothing has changed here." Paul spoke strongly and confidently, obviously never having issues with these guys before, the just took them to the drop site and picked them up, they were chauffeurs with hand cuffs.
Paul turned towards to Jacqli as he quickly read over the information on the mission in the folder. After a few moments he looked up to Jacqli and smiled comfortingly. "Look, this is gonna be a real simple mission. We're droppin' into a remote fortress to eradicate the whole place. We're after a arms deal name Kerem Housali, he's decently armed but nothin' that could stop a Titan. So just relax and focus on destroyin' anythin' that moves and isn't me. You're going to be fine, I'm going to be going in and pulling their fire, you just stay more towards the back and take out stragglers." Paul reached over and put his hand comfortingly on her back, "You're gonna be just fine kid."
The setting changes from L4T8-001 (First Mission) to Not So Distant Future
Living on time that was someone else’s, her life only becoming worth a thing when someone decided to use her time, she was just a part of a delusion. And she just wanted to go back to that delusion, she wanted to finish this up and get back to living in her delusion, forget about time and just . . . be alone again, and not bother anyone with her presence.
Jacqli simply sat there with her eyes cast down to the floor, as she finished listening to Paul brief her on what needed to be done, what they had to do and what he wanted her to do. Play the part of backup; something she wasn’t suited to do either, but a role better for her to take. Simple enough . . . just play cleanup. she reasoned, Just do what you’re told, and then you can just go back to the delusion and not have to worry about bothering anyone until they want you again. . . . It was still cracked, her mask was. From before, it was still breaking apart, and she was barely keeping it on right then.
So, when a hand was set on her back and she heard unnecessary words spoken to her, ”You’re gonna be just fine kid.” it jolted her from her semi-collected state almost entirely.
Under the touch of her partner, Jacqli’s body completely tensed up as her head lolled forward, and she began to shake just a bit, despite her attempts to not do so. She was being shown something she didn’t deserve again, shown kindness, a sort of sympathy that needn’t be expressed toward her. Why . . . why did people keep bothering doing the unnecessary with her? Why was Paul going out of his way to . . . ? She was sitting in the place of his ex-partner, the great Third Leo, a man who shouldn’t have had to be replaced by her. Not again. Not again, please stop it, please just stop acting like that, don’t treat me with something I don’t deserve. Why would something like me deserve any sort of kindness when all they are is a catalyst for bad things? The teenager clenched her eyes shut, doing her best to hold back the overwhelmed tears which were forming in her eyes.
A shaky breath escaped from her lungs, as she did her best to pull her crumbling mask back over her. It was heavy and hard to hold up as she felt now, but she needed it; she needed to not let anyone know that she was so overwhelmed, that she was feeling so weak. Weakness only caused problems, it did not help anything, it only made things worse . . . worrisome, and annoying, that’s what she was. She was weak, and unworthy of sitting where she was. . . . Taking in an uncertain breath, forcing her crystal eyes open, Jacqli turned her gaze to her partner, able to force an empty look over her face as she did so.
She needed to speak . . . say something so that she did not appear so shaken up, “. . . .pl-please do not refer to me as ‘kid,’ whereas your experience and seniority over myself is well-noted and respected, I do not think of myself as a child or a kid.” Her voice came out quickly and monotonously. In truth, Jacqli could not have cared less what Paul called her . . . by her name or whatever title he saw fit to refer to her as, it was really his choice since she wasn’t worth the time anyway. . . . But she’d needed something to say to him. Turning her eyes away from him, she forced herself to look straight ahead. “I am sixteen, and the things I’ve been through and experienced are tantamount to that of an adult’s life, not a child’s, s-so, please.”
The setting changes from Not So Distant Future to L4T8-001 (First Mission)
Paul reached into his pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes, popped one out, put it in his lips and with a lighter from inside the pack lit it. Paul chuckled softly and leaned back. "I was 18, and he still called me kid. I guess it beats rookie. Look kid, I know how you're feelin', I was just like you and want you to know it's okay to feel like you do. In fact, it's important. So I'm gonna to need you to stop trying to keep it all in. That's how people go crazy. It's not your fault that you're here, we've all been dropped into hell, it's not our job to climb out, it's our job survive as long as we can." Paul took a drag on his cigarette and exhaled the smoke slowly, staring coldly ahead. Remembering something Grant told him that he desperately needed to hear.
"Don't blame yourself for taking Grant's place." Paul leaned his elbows onto his thighs. "We are all bound to be replaced and you don't deserve to bear the weight of something that is not truly in our control. Grant wouldn't have blamed you, hell, that old stubborn bastard probably would have thanked you."
Paul exhaled another cloud of smoke. "Grant wouldn't want you blaming yourself, and I don't either. We're partners now," Paul looked over to Jacqli and smiled warmly. "That means we're family, kid. You don't hold qualms against family."
I’m not worth it, just stop . . . damn it, please just stop showing me kindness. It only makes it worse, makes me know how very wrong it is for me to even be sitting here. she thought, body tensing up as she forced her eyes down and away from Paul. Jacqli did not want his kindness, his pity, or his sympathy. She didn’t even want to be regarded as an equal or someone beneath him, she just wanted to end this mission and return to her isolation. Soon enough, you can go back into the delusion, soon enough . . . just do what you have to and then you won’t have to be a bother anymore. A forced breath escaped from her lungs as she clenched her eyes shut. As hard as it was, she was forcing her composure back over herself. “I’m not worth being called family, all I do is cause problems to everyone who is stuck being around me. It’s better if everyone has as little contact with me as possible. It really is.”
“You can call me family, say that our circumstances make us as such, but that’s not true . . . I’m someone who was dropped into all of this, and who they had replace someone who should well still be here, even if you don’t hold a grudge or ill feelings against me for anything, you still shouldn’t waste your time showing me sympathy. I don’t deserve it, Paul.” Jacqli breathed all of that out, quickly, keeping her head down. “I’m just here to do what I have to, so I can go back to being alone, and out of everyone’s way.”
Suddenly a yellow light on the ceiling of the heli-jet began to glow and flash. Mr. Red said, "We're approaching the drop zone." Mr. Blue then added in, "Get ready for your injections."
Honestly, she wasn’t worth . . . this, getting worked up over. It would’ve been easier to ignore her and to just get the mission done without getting exasperated up over what she’d said, but then also, she shouldn’t have let slip what she did. What she had said was fuel to anyone’s fire, to get them going. She knew better, but . . . it’d gotten out, normally she watched herself, and kept any trace of weakness, of her real thoughts locked up so that no one knew of them specifically because they caused this to happen. But even if she’d upset Paul, he was still insisting on what he’d said before, despite her words and what she believed. He wanted her to trust him, and for himself to be able to trust her? He doesn’t have to worry about me trusting him, he’s capable of this, of doing something worthwhile, I am not, I’m. . . . she began thinking, sighing.
The little Leo found herself chewing on her lower lip, uncertainty filling her heart and mind. Paul was so sure of this, despite the fact that someone as insignificant as herself was sitting next to him instead of the person who really should’ve been there. He was insisting . . . why? Why was he bothering to exert such effort into convincing her of this? She was doing it again, causing someone strife. Just like always. But . . . he sounded certain of himself, despite the fact that she was being difficult, he was still trying. And that was enough to cause another crack to form in her already crumbling mask. He’d already made one earlier, and so had Dr. Sterling.
Yet, in this instance, enough of the mask Jacqli wore had crumbled off before she could repair it to allow just a bit of her real self to surface. Unable to really grasp why it was that someone was trying with her despite the trouble she presented, Jacqli felt her cheeks go a bit red in embarrassment, that uncertainty she felt making an evident appearance over her features. She moved both her hands from her lap and set them on Paul’s hand, which was still on top of her head just before the yellow alarm light began to go off. . . .
”We're approaching the drop zone." Mr. Blue then added in, "Get ready for your injections." Jacqli heard the warning, and knew that she needed to be ready for something she’d not undergone before, not in these conditions. But still, she couldn’t help peeking up at her field partner, an apologetic look on her flushed face.
Paul reached out and grabbed his syringe filled with 6cc of Rush. "How long does it take you to change?"
It’s not that I don’t have faith in him, I do, I know he’s capable of this, very much so . . . it’s myself that I worry about. If I screw up, I could get him hurt, cause problems and just be more of a burden. she’d already let herself slip, and gotten him upset, made him bother with her more than he should’ve. Even if it is my fault, I still cannot understand why he is bothering so much with me, I just, I just don’t. Most people would’ve just blown me off and let me think as I so chose, but even though I’m sitting where his real partner ought to be, being so much trouble, he still is insisting on what he said, and not just. . . . This was all suppose to be a delusion, a terrible delusion that she couldn’t escape from, where her life was as worthless as before unless she was given an order, where people didn’t bother with her unless they had to. But, this was not the case this time.
In truth, it almost made Jacqli feel like crying. She didn’t understand, knowing only for certain that the notion that someone was making a point with her beyond being a Titan made her feel like crying. The sentiment was something she just didn’t understand; why someone would even want to do so. . . . He’s sure of this . . . of me for some reason, Jacqli thought biting down on her lip, turning her head away to look at the syringe that’d be stuck into her soon so that she’d assume her Titan form. If someone like him is capable of even trying to have faith and trust in me, then maybe. . . . Her thoughts ended there, as she hesitantly extended her arm out, and lightly grasped the Rush, bringing it back to her, looking at it with a sigh. Maybe I can do a little more than just not be a burden. . . .
”How long does it take you to change?” she heard Paul ask her. Her reaction was a bit belated, as she slowly turned her head up and looked at her partner, staying quiet for a second or two before she answered, remembering back when she’d been forced into a Titan form, when she’d been injected with Rush as parts of the experiments and such at the lab. . . .
It didn’t take her long, she’d overheard what some of the scientists had to say about her and her body’s reaction time to the transformation-inducing drug. They’d said how quickly her body picked up on the Rush was remarked, surprisingly fast considering that she had been inducted into everything so soon ago. . . . Jacqli let out an uncertain sigh, “I-It doesn’t take me long, my body reacts almost instantly to it, so I change in less than ten seconds. . . .”
The setting changes from L4T8-001 (First Mission) to Not So Distant Future
After having selected seven books, Selphy checked out. She was very excited to read the books, but she hoped that they were all worth her time. She was tired of picking up books with a nice description and finding the books duller than a box of rocks. Then again, boxes of rocks could indeed be interesting…
The little faerie trotted to the cafeteria to get a little breakfast. She picked out some nice, sugar coated cereal and poured her milk over it. She carried her books under her left arm and her food in her right hand. She sat in the back corner of the dining area to eat in peace as she read one of the books she picked out.
“There could never be true peace. Everyone knew it. Without war, nothing could ever truly exist. Even plants are in constant battle to obtain the most water and sunlight.” After reading the first few lines, Selphy was still unsure if she’d like the book or not. However, the little faerie was going to continue reading until she was sure she liked or didn’t like the book.
The setting changes from Not So Distant Future to L4T8-001 (First Mission)
Letting out a breathe, she stood to her feet, gripping onto the vial of Rush that she was to take to transform into a Titan, she walked toward the open door, a serious look upon her face. She looked down below her, before she turned her gaze up to Paul. “Heights do not frighten me at all.” She answered him, “I’ll be fine with the plan.”
However, that steeling herself seemed to be utterly pointless as her composure was completely shattered when Paul pulled her to him. She couldn’t hold back the yelp that slipped from her throat due to the shock of being yanked out of her own little world, nor could she dismiss the shocked expression that had forced its way over her face, the first bit of emotion that came across clearly without anything being held back by that mask of hers. The shock had gotten an edge in-between one of the cracks in her mask, and managed to completely force it off for that moment. Jacqli did not dare to look up, as she knew very well that she looked like she’d seen a ghost. This was right before her first mission, with a large part of her heart still uncertain of herself; she’d already managed to make her partner exert more effort toward convincing her otherwise than she was worth . . . the very last thing she needed to do was to express anything like distress, anything that could be mistaken for fear, or weakness.
So, instead of saying or doing anything, Jacqli simply stood there, still, her arms kept at her sides, syringe of Rush held with the needle facing away from her and Paul, and she let him speak while she simply focused on calming herself down, and pulling her heart rate back down to a normal range. . . . Although it was a bit hard to understand him as he spoke with the Rush in his mouth, the teenager was at least able to mostly comprehend what he’d said to her. Give myself the Rush when he lets go of me, stay back behind him, let attention go to him and then come in behind, and take them out while they are off-guard. . . . she went over it in her head as she forced her expression back to as normal as she could manage given her current position. Even if it was for the sake of their entrance into the mission, the fact that Paul had pulled her to him, and held her close, it was still unnerving for a girl like Jacqli, given the life she’d led.
It wasn’t exactly like she were used to physical contact from people, and what she had been used to typically resulted in pain. . . . When he spoke to her again, his Southern accent making a return, her eyes darted up along with her head, and she looked at him, eyes a bit wide from the shock of it still, and she remained quiet a moment before even trying to speak. “R-Ready as one such as myself can be for this sort of thing I suppose. . . .” she murmured, knowing what would come next. The fall. So, before it could happen, Jacqli couldn’t help the fact that she turned her head back down, and that her body tensed up, as she braced herself for the feel of being left to gravity’s mercy; grip upon the syringe of Rush tightening to the point that her hand began to shake.
"Okay! Time to drop! This part's the scariest, so you can close your eyes if you want kid." Paul shifted the syringe in his mouth so it sat long ways in his mouth, so it could not blow away, since he wouldn't be able to be heard with the wind pressure and speed it didn't matter. Everything that was said was said, he trusted his new partner.
"Ooeh, Lez du iz! (Okay, Let's Do This!)" Paul yelled out with the syringe gagging his words awkwardly as like a stiff board Jacqli and him dropped through the opening and began to plummet rapidly towards the sand and fortress.
So, maybe there was more to all of this than she could yet comprehend, just maybe. For now, even if she couldn’t believe in herself, maybe she could believe in the fact that someone had faith in her, someone who was remarkable.
When they began to fall, Jacqli tensed up even more, a look of fear passing over her face despite the fact that she knew she was safe, the feeling of falling, she didn’t like it. A whimper came from her throat despite her attempts to keep it down, and without meaning too, Jacqli found her empty hand grasping onto Paul’s shirt tightly, knowing she’d have to let go when it was time to become a Titan.
