"It's fine with me.. except he hasn't been a day without me, and.. the hotels are so far away and wicked expensive. Can I crash on the couch tonight? It'd just be for tonight, and I'll probably leave in the early morning, just so he won't make too much of a fuss. He's like Jacob, when he doesn't think you care about him, he'll go haywire." She chuckled, blushing a tad bit.
"I know it's none of my business, and I'm really sorry to intrude on your life like this, but, you aren't mad at Jacob about him telling you his past, are you?" She cleared her throat, sighing. "Let me explain. Jacob.. since we were young had always been the.. more adventurous, curious type. He always got himself in some situation. But, when he met Mandy, she made him get in all sorts of trouble. He partied, drank excess amounts of rum, um.. he even pranked other kids by spray-painting their houses with her. She was a total diva, for lack of a better word. " She sighed, looking at the woman. "So, after this went on for a year or so, our mother decided enough was enough. Jacob had just runaway with her, and..." She paused thinking, closing her eyes then opening them. "Danny. Danny, Mandy, and Jacob went and lived wherever I forget. But, we did DNA testing before they died. Danny wasn't his, and Mandy.. well.. the reason she got herself and her son killed was because she was going to meet.. a rival of Jacob's. " She chuckled. "Shane, I think. Anyway, turned out Danny was Shane's and Mandy was making Jake take the fall for it." Katelyn proudly explained. Her smiled, turned into a frown quickly. "But.. I nor mom ever had the guts to tell him. So.. he still thinks she loved him, and he lost his family. When in reality, he never had one."
"I completely understand if you want me to leave now. I intruded on your life, completely. But, if I may add, and I don't want to upset you, or make you stay married to him or anything, but, when I hear our mother tell me all the things Jacob does for you, or you do for him, it's like.. pure love. Take it from his sister, he loves you. " She finally shut her mouth. "Again, I'm so sorry." Her eyes were a little more dilated now, and she squeezed her hands together, twirling her bracelet on her wrist.
" I feel the need to stand up for him, when I shouldn't. I was never there to help him, and we didn't have a great a childhood. Mom was always waitressing, dropping us off at whoever wanted to keep us for a month or so next, and.. he feels abandoned, since dad left like right after I was born. I never knew him, but Jacob claims he remembers everything about the man." She covered her mouth with her hand, light pink painted across her cheeks. "Honest, just tell me when to stop. I can go all night about family history." She chuckled nervously.
