Kris Metzger

Kris sighed, glancing around his currently empty shop from behind the counter. A few bony golems scuttled about, rearranging the displays or sweeping the floor, oblivious to the emptiness of the store. Kris shook his head and absentmindedly wiped his hands on his apron, doing little but smudging a bit of the blood he had somehow missed while washing up. "Well boys, I think I'm gonna step out to the curb for a spell. Y'all got a handle on all this. Try not to knock anything over." Kris said aloud to the golems, who stopped momentarily to listen but did not reply in any way.

Satisfied, Kris reached behind his back to undo the knot on his apron and remove it, hanging it on a hook next to the cash register. Resting one hand on the top of the counter, he reached below to pick up a rickety metal folding chair and start for the door. Kris swung it outward, resting the back of the chair against the door to keep it propped open while he searched his pockets. After a bit of patting and no small amount of muttered profanities, he extracted a single cigar, with the end already punched for his convenience. Kris smirked and unfolded the chair with one hand, popping the end of the cigar into his mouth and sitting down heavily, legs splayed out in front of him.

Patting his pockets again, Kris sighed and leaned around the corner, looking into the shop he maintained. "Hey! One of y'all run to the loft and grab me a book of matches! I managed to get all the way out here without gettin' the damn things. You, sweepy, go grab 'em and get back here. Ain't a speck of dirt on that whole floor and I don't want you doin' something pointless when you could be helping out." Kris yelled into the shop, jabbing a finger at the sweeping golem while he did so. The golem dropped the broom with a loud clatter and scurried up the stairs, knocking over what sounded like a stack of books while he was up there. "Christ almighty, I can't make decent help no matter how I try. Damn brainless piles of bones." Kris muttered under his breath, shaking his head slightly.

After a short while, the golem that had so eagerly sprinted up the stairs and directly into a stack of books sheepishly approached Kris with a pack of matches in a bony paw. Chuckling slightly, Kris gently took the matches and patted the little creature on the top of what passed for a head. "Good job, sweepy. Didn't quite make it seem easy, but at least you made it back. Go on now, go pick up whatever you knocked over, then get back to sweeping. Carefully, this time." Kris said soothingly before turning back around to face the street. Settling in, he swiped a match against the side of the box and held it up to the cigar, puffing away at it to get it lit. Once the end glowed and the smoke came readily, Kris shook the match out and dropped it into an ashtray he kept near the door for convenience's sake, staring out into the street and relaxing.

L E O P O L D P R A T T

A hellish noise erupted stage left, startling Leo into a goatish leap. He fumbled with his now airborne phone and watched in abject horror as it crashed to the forest floor. No. No no no, oh gods. Leo followed after the mobile, willing his limbs to move faster, as if picking it up quicker would lesson any damage inflicted. Leo flipped the electronic over in his palms several times before releasing a heavy breath through his nostrils.

Oh praise the gods, not even a scratch. He made a mental note to sing his praises to the Ghoul Armor manufactures.

Initial panic subsided; Leopold cursed Mother Nature for all her impractically loud and obnoxious creations and continued on his way. As he heavily trudged through the bramble and soft earth, Leopold registered the unsettling scent of heated air wafting over him. Oh gross. Didn't people know better than to light fires during the dry season? Leo frowned as he typed fervidly on his way to the lake, hopefully uninterrupted, to bask on a sun warmed rock and watch the sun set (and hopefully maybe watch his favorite shirtless-nymph swim around). 'some people have absolutely no regard for the sacrament of nature #OnlyYouCanPreventWildfires'.

Ah yes, the lake was in sight. Finally. Leo had enough stumbling over roots and bramble for one day. Why flat surfaces weren't in the forest blueprints, he'll never understand.

The satyr inhaled deeply, freeing his nostrils of the acrid campfire smoke and let a smile spread. That is, until something wet slapped across his face and chest.

Leopold stumbled back and whipped his head around to find the receptor of much of his disdain; Shela. Her body glistened in the midday sun from her perch on a partially submerged rock, mud dripping from her tail-turned catapult. Her dripping hair was piled in a ratted mess atop her head, aquatic plants hanging by clumps, and a shark like grin split her face. She looked utterly atrocious.

"Heya, short stuff," she giggled and waved her fingers in his direction. Leo didn’t know whether he wanted to laugh or puke. He did neither, opting instead to look down at his own shirt. He blanched and a shrill, gaspy whine pulled itself from his throat. His shirt, his favorite white V-neck solid! Smeared with ungodly mud and filth! Leo sputtered, tugging hopelessly at his shirt and pointed at the devil’s spawn. “I-you where’d- I- You!” Fucking hell! How could he face his hunky nymph looking like this? “You-you hooker!” His face flushed with anger and scrunched in unpleasant ways. The anger practically oozed from his soul and Leo wished uselessly for it to pierce through the wildly laughing mermaid’s body. And, just as his luck entails, his ears chose that moment to twitch and shoo away the disgusting winged insects that infested the air. Leo was tempted to stomp his hoof in frustration, he hated when they did that. It completely shattered his menacing appearance.

Leopold wanted to scream. Or cry. Or maybe both. Just, damn it all! All he wanted was to watch hot, dripping wet men in peace. Was that too much to ask?

He smoothed down his shirt and let out a deep, shaky breath through flared nostrils. That’s better. No exploding veins today. Leopold opened his eyes, his anger barely contained by his haughty demeanor, and opened his mouth to let insults fly, only to have Shela's giggle fit subside enough for her to speak, "You got a little something..." She gestured towards her cheek, impish grin still shining.

That damn woman. That absolutely infuriating fish-skank. He tried to be calm, he really did. But now the insufferable bitch had to die.

Leo dove at the laughing fishgirl, intent on wrapping his hands around her slimy neck, only to be shocked from his anger by the slap of cold water everywhere.

By Pan's flute it was cold. Really fucking cold. Leo gasped and oh praised be the gods, they were still in the shallows of the lake. Hooves were not made for swimming.

His thrashing and flailing was decidedly not ungraceful, thank you very much. And he most certainly did not stumble over the rocks as he pulled himself out of the water.

"Leo dear, you forgot something," Shela's patronizing voice sung, causing Leo's fists to clench and jaw to grind. He stiffly stomped back to snatch his sopping beanie from her clutches. "Oh, and Art isn't here. He went out."

Of fucking course he did. His grip tightened around his beanie, lake water dripping from between his fingers as he snarled, "I hope you get caught in a fisherman's net," ignoring the fish as she coyly pointed to the No Fishing sign, he stomped back into the woods.

Leopold tromped through the forest tugging uselessly at his now stretched and transparent shirt. A whine pushed pass his downward tilted lips as he futilely attempted to push his now limp hair into its usual styled coif.

He paused his steady grumblings as his fingers brushed against something slimy and sucked in a breath. Leo squeezed his eyes shut as he pulled a limp piece of aquatic plant life from his horn. Oh no. Oh gross. Oh why. He flung it at a tree with a shrill squeak and shook his hands free of the slime. This was all that sea hag’s fault. All he wanted was to watch Art a little, but instead he had his entire outfit and day ruined. Oh and look at that, his freshly groomed legs and hooves were caked in mud. Just what he needed.

The trees began to thin and oh thank heavens pavement. Leopold slowed his pace from his stumbling trot to a leisurely clomp, even if he was soaked to the bone, he had to keep up appearances.

Euphemia Magdalena
Image

Euphemia had awakened early this morning, and started slaving away in her kitchen. It was a big day today, and she wanted to make it feel special that's why she was making a Cherry-Berry Pie for her girls this evening. Dear George always loved that and every year on his birthday she would make it for him. That's what today was, his birthday and even though it has been two hundred years since his death, she continues the tradition nonetheless. It kept sane, there was a time, (a long time ago now) when she would spend a year saving up the money to buy the ingredients. Now with supermarkets, it seems so much easier to just buy the raw ingredients in a days’ notice.

Like clockwork, Lilly and Rose came stumbling down the stairs wearing far too inappropriate clothes. “No,” she said in a harsh tone, “You are not leaving my house wearing that, your father would have had a fit if he saw you dressed so.”

Rose, looked at her mother and sighed her old fashion mind was never good at accepting new things. They had the old stove, for a century before she gave in a bought an electric one, and Rose wearing a tank top and short shorts was no different. “Mother…” she whined, “Papa couldn’t imagine half the things we’ve seen over the century let alone tank tops.”

“Is that what you call them?” She asked, “Rose honey didn’t I buy you that new blue dress last century though, couldn’t you wear that?”

“Last century, mother…” Rose sighed and the two stomped up stairs.

Euphemia turned back to her pie, and her “outdated” kitchen, with its pink tiled walls and retro 1950’s feel about it. By nine, she had completely finished her pie and set it on the window to cool, her daughters coming back down in jeans and t-shirts. “Better?” they chimed.

She smiled, “How hard was that?” she asked and took two glasses from the cupboard and opened the fridge to a fresh “Box-O-Blood” sitting on the top shelf. As she turned her back, the quickly ran out the door hurrying to whatever business they thought was important. She sighed and placed the glasses on the table, there was a time when they would spend the day with their mother without a second thought, but times do change that’s for sure. She sat at the table in a huff, with the two glasses in front of her and proceeded to drink them without another thought entering her head.

Bridgette O'Leary

It was a typical early morning, just as the sun began to dawn in the sky. Starting with a trip out to the gardens and green houses the usual watering, weeding and just wee bit of magic to help things grow exceptionally. . She didn't ever use allot just enough to make sure everything would turn out tasty and beautiful. Bridgette stood back and took in a satisfied breath, no picking was needed today since she had harvested a couple of days before. By the time she was finished it was almost nine am so it was time to head to town to her little market.

It wasn't a big building, not like she needed a big building she mostly served the people of the town. However it was big enough for her and that was just fine with her. She grabbed her purse and keys then headed out the door, she took the long walk into town each day, she didn't want to drive cause there was really no point. If she got tired she could just fly and she'd be there in a jiffy, but Bridgette like to take in the sights as she walked. A smile and nod to townsfolk as she walked by, its not like she was in a hurry or anything. It was early in the morning, Bridgette's store was just across the road from Kris Metzger's butcher shop. She could already see the golems buzzing around inside. Sometimes she thought it might be nice to have little helpers like Kris did, but then it would stress her worrying if they were going to mess up something. So it was just easier for her to do things on her own, she unlocked the door to her shop.

Opening up windows and doors to let air in and then a flip of her sign from closed to open. By almost mid day she had, had only a few and had checked the stock twice. She leaned forward on the checkout counter and sighed, that was when the small hint of cigar smoke touched her senses. She took in the smell, cigars always made her think of her father... well her human father. Sean O'Leary wasn't a rich man, he wasn't even a smart man, but he was a loving father and would have done anything just to see Bridgette smile. When she first took the place of the O'Leary's child she used to feel sorry for them, because their child had died so young, however she realized with her playing the part of their little girl she was making them happy. Something that just couldn't help but make the young faerie happy as well.

She sighed hoping that maybe if she stepped out her door that she might be able to kill some time making small talk with Kris. Even though she loved her store, it did get slow sometimes, and just because she was older now didn't mean she didn't get bored now and again. That's where the people in the town came in however, they always managed to make her day, even if only a few words were exchanged. She stepped out in front of the store, feigned rearranging some apples in some crates. Then acted as though she hadn't noticed Kris sitting there in the door of his shop.

Bridgette smiled and waved from across the road, "Afternoon, there Kris hows yer day been?"

Esmeralda Belmonte

Esmeralda woke up later then she typically ever did, but last night was a rough one though. Two Bachelor parties got into a bidding war, a fight broke out, all in all it was an average Wednesday too bad it was Friday. "Thank God of the Weekend!" she thought, hearing Boone in the other room strumming his guitar and singing her name a few times. She smiled, it was so cool having a boyfriend who could sing like that he was so talented.

"When the years have all come and gone
they'll find beneath the ground
our two bodies joined as one
showing how we were bound
how much Quasimodo once loved
Esmeralda the gypsy girl

She smiled, as she pulled the sheets away from her and started dressing in a red tank top, and jeans. She knew the song well, it was from Notre Damn De Paris. Boone always liked Victor Hugo's work when she found the few songs on YouTube of the musical adaptation from the 90's he started singing the songs around the house. Normally they are happy songs, as happy as they ever get but this? this was Quasimodo's death.

Looking at herself she asked herself: Why was he singing about death?, and started walking out of the room. Maybe she was being oblivious or is just a little self centered, but she didn't notice Boone's clothes and things had been removed from the room. It wasn't much he always traveled light but still the cowboy hat on the bed rail, the workmen boots next to the bed, missing and she hadn't noticed. She walked down the hallway of their two bedroom ranch, his voice growing louder only making her more and more scared of what she will see at the end of the hallway.

"how he was marked by god above
just to help him bear his cross
just to hep him bear his cross"

She herd him almost crying, like the music was part of his soul and just singing it caused him pain. She walked into the kitchen , though the dinning into the living room without seeing his face anywhere. She noticed her iPod in the speaker system, and realized it was a recording. He made made her a mix tape, it must have been playing for hours wail she was sleeping. He was so sweet! she thought, as the music continued:

"Dance my Esmeralda
sing my Esmeralda
dance just one more time for me
you know i'll die for love of you"

OOC: Full song here

She sat on the sofa, listening to his voice sooth her soul or what ever soul she had. After awhile she noticed a paper sitting on the table and carefully picked it up. She read it tears pouring from her face, Boone was gone this was his goodbye to her. He doesn't know why or how he could have stayed as long as he did but now he had to leave. The strong feeling in his gut telling him to move on, his curse to bare, and it broke Esmeralda's heart.

The song ended: and she read the last part of the letter "Dance my little bird, fly and be free and never let your dreams fade."

Aubrey Evans

Aubrey groaned as the light filtered in between her curtains. Yawning, she rolled to the side, only to fall out of bed. Curses, she thought. I can't even wake up properly in this tiny bed. She slowly stood up and zombie walked to her kitchen, making herself some toast. She had just begun to butter the now-burnt bread when she heard Emilee say, "I can see you didn't make me any."

Turning around, Aubrey just gave her friend a look before turning back to her toast, only to have it fly up and hit her in the face. She twisted around to glare at Emilee, and said, "I can see that you aren't getting any right now, bitch," while she grabbed for a towel. Wiping her face, she grabbed a piece of fresh toast from her plate and tossed it to Emilee, reaching into their fridge to grab a grape soda.

She popped it open and said, "You know, you're not a very good roommate. You hit me with toast," before realizing that she was late for work. Really late. Swearing, she ran up the stairs to change into some clothes, taking a quick glance at her outfit in the mirror before dashing downstairs and grabbing her bag, waving goodbye to Emilee as she ran outside and hopped on her bike. Why don't I just save the environment? Aubrey thought, irritated at herself for not getting a car. She finally arrived at the bakery, jumping off of her bike and locking to a pole outside of the bakery before running inside. She checked in, apologized for being late, and got to work in the back, baking a cake.

Kris glanced up as Bridgette waved and spoke, smiling around the cigar. He returned the wave with his left hand, removing the cigar and knocking the ash off the end into the ash tray with the other. "Eh, I've had more and less interesting days than this. Ain't a whole lot of busywork to do now that I've got my little golems runnin' about doing stuff I ain't fond of doing. Can't complain though. How 'bout you? Gettin' much business with your little vegetable market over there?" Kris replied, waving the cigar about lazily as he spoke.

Inside the shop, the golems skittered about, some stopping and observing others, and two clattered their bones at one another irritably before parting and waving their paws about, stomping away to attend to similar tasks at opposite ends of the store. Kris glanced over his shoulder idly at the scene unfolding in the shop, shaking his head and chuckling. "Ain't too sure why I gave them little personalities like that. Guess it makes 'em feel a little more lively than they would be if they were just normal golems." He thought to himself, bringing the cigar to his lips and taking a few puffs off of it. "Might be a good idea to get out a bit more than I have been lately. Anthropomorphising the help probably ain't a good sign."

Kris furrowed his brow, taking a puff off of his cigar before pointing it across the street at Bridgette. "Hey, Bridgette, you know if there's anything going on in town tonight? I need to get out of the shop at some point soon. Goin' a bit stir crazy sitting around with the golems all the time. I mean, yeah, they do their job and all, but they ain't much for conversation. No vocal cords'll do that to ya." Kris said, keep his brow furrowed in confusion.

Bridgette smiled, "Well it's definitely been a quiet day over here as well. As for any goings on tonight in town. I'm not sure really, it would be nice to do something though. I feel like if I'm not here I'm at home with noth'n but the four walls to keep me company. Well that and the plants, but like yer little helpers, they're not much for talking either. Unless you want hear about how they should have had three more ounces of water today, plants can be a bit persnickety at times."

She sat down on the corner of an empty crate that had been stacked up. She couldn't help but admire Kris's looks he was a handsome man in her eyes. Now other much younger woman, might not appreciate his more, down home, old fashioned style, and also the fact that his choice of career kept him repeatedly splattered in blood and bits of animal flesh. But Bridgette could appreciate a man in this day and age that could have those old world values, a man that worked hard everyday with his hands instead of making his living pushing buttons while sitting on his rear end all day. Not that Bridgette was actively looking for a man, she just had to admit herself that the lad was easy on the eyes.

"You know how it is though, there's always something going on iff'n ya just look hard enough."

One... Two... Three!

Fun fact: the Crawl Space (the nickname Fox had given the weird in-betweeny type space that she existed in when she made her jumps) smelled like old bacon whenever Fox jumped without first being absolutely sure where she was going. The smell made her wrinkle her nose (or something), but she tightened her grip on her duffel bag and shoved her way through the space-time continuum (or something). She'd somehow managed to shove everything she owned into the bag and it was already straining at the seams. She needed to get out of the Crawl Space ASAP. She didn't want to know what would happen if her vibrator flew out of her bag and was lost forever into the nether-space of reality.

Or maybe...

No. Not the time. Fox gave one final shove and felt a nice firm floor materialize under her feet. The very first thing she did was drop the bag and shake out her arms, staring around at what lay before her. It seemed she was in some kind of meat shop. There was an impressive mound of bright red meat beneath the glass. Fox was just drifting closer when she noticed an indignant croak coming from somewhere near her ankles. She shrieked and jumped back from the skull snapping it's lilly white jaws at her and realized that she'd somehow missed the room full of skeleton...things. She shrieked again and stumbled backwards toward the door, but tripped over her own bag and found herself sprawled on her back at the feet of a tall man with dark brown hair.

Fox scrabbled backward and make a series of micro jumps only a few feet away from one another. She couldn't concentrate enough to get the fuck out of there because holy fucking shit what were those things?? She managed to get to her feet and lunged for the door, colliding bodily with the man in the way. They both fell to the pavement outside and Fox sucked a breath in as she felt her elbow scape on the concrete.

"Shit, um, hi..." she gasped, rolling off of him and cradling her arm. "Please tell me in in Bluffington."

Kris Metzger

Kris chuckled, relaxing back into his seat. "Yeah, I know how you feel 'bout feeling like there ain't much to do at home. 'Cept, when I'm at the shop I'm also home. Managed to snag a buildin' with a loft and all that. Didn't know plants were all that talkative, though. Can't say I'm overly surprised they have nothing to say even if you can understand 'em, tell ya the truth." Kris replied, taking another few puffs off of his cigar, which was nearly burnt down to his fingers. "I bet there's probably something goin' on in town, I just ain't heard about it. Not that there's been anyone 'round the shop to tell me anything today." Kris continued, knocking the ash off his cigar and stubbing it out in the ashtray. He grinned, and crossed his arms over his chest, leaning more heavily into the back of the chair.

Inside the shop, however, things were not nearly as relaxed. The golems, having settled any little squabbles remaining and gotten back to work, stopped, glancing around worried with whatever they had for a head. The golem that had ran up the stairs, Sweepy, came down, bustling over to the door and pointing at Kris and back into the shop. Kris, however, took no notice and continued looking towards Bridgette. Clattering in frustration, Sweepy ran over to a different golem, one fortunate enough to have a goat skull where it's head would be, and pointed at Kris. Nodding, the goat headed golem began walking towards Kris, but only managed to make it to the front of the counter when Fox appeared. Noticeably irritated, goat-head croaked and began chattering it's jaws at her, waving wildly between her feet and the door.

Hearing two shrieks and what sounded like a few bullfrogs getting into a wood stirring contest, Kris jumped up from his seat, body shifting into some loose approximation of a running stance. "Jesus Christ, don't tell me someone came in through the back door again. I have that goddamn lock on there for a reason, dammit!" Kris muttered, turning to face the inside of his shop just in time to be tackled back through the door and onto his back. Swearing loudly and flailing about as she rolled off of him, Kris stared at her in complete confusion. "Good lord, did you ever make one hell of an entrance lady. This may be Bluffington but that don't give you no damn license to just bust up into a man's shop and tackle him though his own door! I ain't too sure how y'all do things up here, but back in the south we usually yell at each other 'fore we just tackle someone onto the street. Jesus!" Kris yelled, his southern accent deepening into near illegibility, rolling over and getting to his feet.

He began dusting himself off, and goat-head came out, excitedly pointing between Kris and Fox and croaking. "Yeah, yeah, I know. You're a bit late to the party there, little man. Go on, get some help and make sure she didn't break anything. Maybe drag anything she brought with out here." Kris said, moving back to his seat and sitting back down heavily as goat-head clattered excitedly to the other golems just inside the door. "You know, lady, you're actin' like you ain't never seen no bone golem or anything like that before. Just where you from, exactly?" Kris asked, no longer yelling but not exactly calm, his accent still as uncultured as when he was yelling.

Thanos opened his eyes and sat up on the old patched couch. He was in the office above the small theater that he owned. The camera was rolling the 1987 film Lethal Weapon. The film was almost over as it was at the fight scene at the end of the movie between Mel Gibson and Gary Busey. He stood up and looked at the clock. It was roughly eight o clock in the morning. He casually made his way down stairs to the theater as the movie was ending. the only other person in the actual theater was Harold a frail old man who was asleep in the third row. He first met Harold when they served together in Korea. They were in the same unit and after Harold watched Dominic take half a machine gun clip into his chest. He kinda had to tell him his story. They've been best friends ever since. These days Harold is very old and doesn't do much except sleep and watch movies in the theater. Thanos Smiled to him and continued over to his house.

After about an hour he was ready leave the house and start his day. He put on an old Led Zepplin t shirt and some old jeans. He then made his way down the street. He heard a nearby ruckus and spotted Bridgette. He always had a small crush on her but he never acted on it or tried to talk to her alone. Partly because he was embarrassed but mostly because he didn't want to get attached to anyone.....except Harold. He then noticed she was talking to Kris. Kris however was talking to a new lady. He didn't seem to happy about it either. She looked kind of scared. "Whats going on?" Thanos said with a confused smile on his face as he approached the three of them.

Fox could barely do more than gape as the man she'd barelled into shot to his feet and started shouting at her. One of the things she liked most about America was that people rarely ever mentioned their grievances with one another, let alone had loud, showy confrontations. It meant that Fox could normally get away with a hell of a lot more than accidentally knocking someone down every once in a while. The pure novelty of the situation left her stunned for a few moments. But it got old quickly.

"Well excuse me!" she snapped, climbing gracelessly to her feet. "But in case you haven't noticed, you're stupid shop is being invaded by--"

One of the skeleton creatures toddled out of the shop. Fox drew back, but the thing completely ignored her and went for the guy instead. She flickered a bit in place (it was a habit she had when she was feeling panicky), but before she could decide whether or not to grab the guy and jump them both to safety, the bone thing started chattering animatedly in croaks and snaps, gesturing to her, to the man, and then back into the shop. The somehow managed to look more annoyed as he dusted himself off. "Yeah, yeah, I know," he said. "You're a bit late to the party there, little man. Go on, get some help and make sure she didn't break anything. Maybe drag anything she brought with out here." The skeleton turned immediately and toddled off back into the shop and Fox watched it go warily, though with a bit more curiosity. In a few thousand years, she'd never seen anything like that and Fox basically lived for new things. She twisted around to watch the thing say something to the other skeletons that had gathered within the shop, swaying forward on her toes to see better without actually going any closer.

"You know, lady, you're actin' like you ain't never seen no bone golem or anything like that before," the man said, and Fox saw that he had moved to a seat out in front of the shop. "Just where you from, exactly?"

Fox disappeared and reappeared again a few feet away in the center of the sidewalk. The street was lovely... quaint. It reminded her of the forties. She'd spent a few years in Maine and... yes, this street and those were just so similar. They could be siblings. She disappeared again and reappeared, this time in front of the meat shop, her face and hands pressed against the large glass window in front, trying to see inside to the skele-- no, the bone golems.

"Bone golem," she murmured to herself and then pulled away from the window, grinning. She didn't notice the large, streaky smudges her hands left. "Of course I've never seen a bone golem. Are there many of them here? Is this voodoo magic? I was just in Cuba and let me tell you, the voodoo there is batshit--" By this point, another guy had wandered over. Fox smiled prettily, her earlier irritation fading completely.

"I'm Fox," she said, thrusting her hand out towards the shop owner for him to shake.

Bridgette O'Leary

It was like a split second of activity, one second she was having a rather enjoyable conversation with Kris. Then all hell broke loose, there was clamor of activity in the butchers shop, Kris stood up to see what was going on and then a young woman came bursting through the front door of his shop plowing through him like a line backer.

"Bloody hell!" Bridgette exclaimed as she crossed the street to try to figure out what was really going on.

The young woman, looked worried when Kris started laying into her. Now Bridgette knew that Kris was typically a collected man and it took quite a bit to get him going. But this girl came out of nowhere, well not exactly out of his shop,he expected some sort of teenage witch's pranks, the kids in Bluffinton got like that when it came for the school year to end. Its like someone flips a switch and they all turn into a bunch of annoying twits. But as she drew closer Bridgette knew one thing, this young woman was not one of the children from the town, and two she was older that any of the teens.

One of Kris' golems came out and began chittering at him, now for the life of her Bridgette didn't understand a word of it, but Kris seemed to manage.

"Please tell me in in Bluffington."

The girl managed to say after Kris calmed down a bit from his rant, "Aye lass, you're in Blufinton." Bridgette said with a nod.

There was a voice that called out from behind them, that Bridgette was very familiar with she turned and gave a wave greeting the newcomer to the 'accident'. "Hallow their now Thanos, seems this woman just appeared outta thin air tried to run through Kris here, I tell ya what lass you should try to sign up with a football team with a tackle like that. Taking down a grown man is a bit of feat if I may say so myself." Bridgette gave a light chuckle then winked at Kris trying to lighten the mood a bit.

It was then the girl got all curious and started flitting around one second down the road and then the next she was back at where they were standing.

"Disappearing than reappearing, girls got an attention span as long as a meter stick. Flitting about like a humming bird on espresso damndist thing I've seen in a while."

It was then the girl introduced herself to Kris by the name 'Fox'... Bridgette processed things for a minute and then nodded. "Well miss Fox, I'd ask you why you're here, but then I don't know if you're to sure yourself dear?"

~Lifaria~

Stomping back to her resting spot, snapping small twigs beneath her bare feet in her wake, Lif huffed and pouted, losing her hands into fists as she dug at her palms, mumblig angrily to herself, "Stupid mermaids, The never appreciate a good show" she say as she reached up and peeled off another piece of skin, then another, and another, "Any now I'm peeling. All for nothing" she say, her voice a soft growl as she left trail of peeled skin behind her. Lifaria hated peeling, it felt gross, and it certainly was not beautiful. She finally made her way back to the patch of grass she had slept in and reached into the tree behind it, pulling out a pile of neatly folded clothes. Lif smiled at her smart hiding place that apparently no-one could ever find, and then dressed in her clothes, brushing off a few large flakes of skin from her arm and legs, then making herself fully-peeled apart from a few small pieces of skin on her back and stomach.

Confident enough, Lif began the trek to find the concrete path that lead to the town, padding along in her barefeet- she had forgotten to hide her shoes but it didn't bother her, she spent most of her time in the forest, so her feet became used to mostly any terrain. Lifaria adjusted the bust of her black tanktop, then peered down to check her shorts as she walked, making sure they didn't crease at any odd angles. Lifaria made her way to the town center, giving a sweet and innocent smile to those she passed, but then she would slow her pace, peering into the butchers, trying to see what was happening inside. The was a girl, who she had never seen before, the butcher - she had tried to impress a few times by cooking the meat in his shop, and another man, who she had seen around but didn't know the name of.

Lif walked over and placed a hand on her hip, looking from the butcher to the girl, the girl to the butcher, then to the other man. She'd smirk softly and use her free hand to push away a small piece of her hair that bothered her,"Things getting heated over here?" she'd say, snickering softly at her own joke. It was funny to her, but to anyone who didn't know what she was it would just confuse them.

C a s s i u s

Cassius ran his fingers over the old collection of books, willing one of them to jump out at him. After an eternity of fruitless searching, his hand absentmindedly hooked onto an annoyingly yellow book causing his whole body to jerk back. He frowned and tugged out the novel from it's snug position. Blinking at the block lettering Naked Lunch, he shrugged to himself. Why not? Summer break was around the corner, so his life was quickly becoming devoid of meaning. It's pathetic that the meaning of his life was public education. Whatever, education is a noble pursuit or that's what Aphrodite forces down the students' throats every year.

Thumbing through the pristine pages, he picked up on odd phrases such as 'insect agony' and a lot of slang. Cassius furrowed his eyebrow and flipped to the beginning...oh, it was published in the late 1950's. Of course. That whole later half of the 20th century was a culture black-hole. It was only five dollars and anything to help out the local economy, so Cassius mosied his way to the cashier, where Sal was managing the register much to his delight. Sal was always his favorite faun.

Before he actually reached Sal and his lovely clerical skills, a whirlwind of anger and goat hair burst into the tiny, crooked shop. A huge, shit-eating grin took over his face as his arch nemesis startled the faun.

Throwing his arm around the satyr, Cassius wrinkled his nose at the odd stench that curled from the goat-man. It was like a combination of sour fury and fishy mud. “Man Leo, you're really letting go huh? I mean, taking a dive in the dump? Goats do that right? They eat trash,” he said conversationally before waving at the poor skittish faun and handing him the paper-back book to check-out.

Thanos Chuckled at Bridgette's words. "Well ma'am I've seen many things quite like this." He said adding to the joke. " ever hear about David and Goliath? The little guy took Goliath out with one rock....."It was all in good fun, He then looked to Kris who was now standing upright again and dusting himself off. The new girl..... "Fox" as she had put...However, there was something odd about her...

The smile on his face was gone and was replaced with a look of wonder. He watched quietly as Bridgette and Kris talked to her about where she came from and who she was. He was getting an intense feeling of nostalgia..... Like several hundred years ago nostalgia. Thanos scratched his head. Had they met before?" This was certainly very interesting. "Have we..."

He was cut off as Lifaria piped into the conversation. He turned to her and nodded "Morning miss Lifaria..." Lifaria truly was beautiful and he knew a lot of guys that lusted after her. Thanos himself even once pursued her for a bit. She was always easy on the eyes.....even more so when she wasn't wearing any clothes.....Thanos blinked a few times then looked back to Fox. His attention was again on the three of them.

~Lifaria~

"Morning miss Lifaria..." she'd hear, turning her attention again to the man she now recognized as Thanos. And she'd smirk, grinning playfully as she answered, "Well hello Thanos.." she'd coo, adjusting her position just to give her an exscuse to flick her hair. She stood, with her hand on her hip and one leg cocked slightly as she glanced over the gang, identifying the faces; Kris the butcher, Thanos, Bridgette who had a store across from Kris and then the new girl, who she overheard was apparently called 'Fox'.

As she waited for the others to talk, Lif squinted her eyes and focused on the distant behind the group, watching two men enter the bakery, then only one of them leave. She wondered why, and hoped there'd be some kind of drama to follow. Shortly after the first man left, a different man, exited the boutique and then hopped into the bakery. Lifaria eyed the man then shifted her attention to the boutique, wondering if she should go there later.

But now she'd bring her attention back to the group, absent-mindedly admitting a warm heat that anyone close enough would feel surround them. She'd smile softly, feeling the energy and the heat grow inside her, standing in one place with nothing to do and no-one to put on a show for made her bored, and when she was bored she would burn, in hopes that someone would notice, and she'd be able to show-off once more.

Kris Metzger

Kris sighed and shook Fox's hand, clearing his throat. "Name's Kris. Kris Metzger. Er, look, I'm sorry about flippin' out on you like that. Ain't much like me to introduce myself by screamin' bloody murder. Damn kids out here tend to hop in and muck about soon as school lets out. Stirs up the golems and makes it harder to keep things in order. As for the golems, naw, that ain't voodoo or anything. I'm not gonna put my neck on the line and make a contract with a baron just to get the power to make a little bone critter run around. Just some old-world alchemy is all." Kris replied, leaning back into his seat. He glanced over at Thanos and gave him a little nod in greeting before turning his attention to Lifaria. "Afternoon, miss Deroove. If you don't mind, I'd appreciate it if you keep your little firey party trick out of my store this time. It was weeks 'fore the golems stopped trying to get the matches and try it on themselves. There're still char marks on the ceiling from those little experiments." Kris said casually, his voice slowly regaining it's more cultured accent.

Inside, the golems began teaming up, trying to get the duffel bag all the way out of the store. The golems all pushed and pulled in opposite directions, doing little more than irritating one another and wiggling the bag. Sweepy, however, took the bedlam inside as an excuse to wander over to Kris and everyone outside, clicking quietly in curiosity. He wandered around, observing everyone in turn before going to Kris and clambering onto his lap, satisfied with his observations. "You might be on to something with tellin' her to try for the team, Bridgette. Haven't been tackled like that since I was in high school. She's got some muscle on her, that's for sure." Kris chuckled, gesturing at Fox with one hand. The other hand began patting his pockets, searching for another cigar and finding it in the pocket of his vest.

Finally reaching a consensus, the golems still hard at work trying to push the bag into the street began making slow progress, gradually inching towards the door. However, their combined, but still minimal, strength wasn't enough to push it up over the threshold and they quickly devolved into croaking at each other and wiggling the bag again. Kris shook his head and glanced at the arguing golems. "All y'all! Leave the bag and get back to work. That's far enough for the damn thing." Kris ordered, causing the golems to scatter around the shop and work on various meaningless tasks. Satisfied, Kris popped the end of his cigar in his mouth and lit another match, lighting the cigar and puffing on it contentedly.

As Adam jaunted out of the bakery, his eye was drawn to the small crowd of people down the street. One of them even looked his way. They all seemed pretty focused on someone that Adam couldn't quite make out. Being curious, he decided to stroll over to the group with the intention of introducing himself and maybe even giving out his business card. He knew it was terrible, but hey, magic and weird stuff didn't keep food on the table. Well, technically it could, but that wasn't the point.

When he finally reached the group, most of them were talking and staring at this woman, but the bone golems in the butcher's shop nearby is what grabbed Adam's attention. They were of a fine make and they even seemed to have a hint of personality not commonly seen in constructs. By this point, he was practically staring at them, marveling a bit at the way they worked. Wanting to learn more, he returned to the group, seeing a man in a fold up chair smoking a cigar, seemingly ordering them around.

"Excuse me. Are these your golems? Fine job, if I do say so myself." Adam said standing beside the smoking man, smoke rising to his height pretty quickly. Adam couldn't help but notice the man's style was similar to his own. "I'm Adam, by the way. I don't think we've met. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've met any of you lovely people." he said, addressing the man in the chair as well as everyone in the small group with a hint of charm as to not be rude.

KORBIN&VEE

Everything thing was a blur except for her face and of course the all too familiar dagger. These dream was all too real, the terrified feeling coursing through him. He knew exactly what was happening and yet had no control.I fucking fell asleep. She came in close, her emerald eyes all full of hate and anger. “Hello Korbin.” Shit. Shit. Shit. Her face flew back and the silver rune encrusted dagger appeared, within seconds pierced through his skin and into his heart.

NO!” He screamed flying off the chair landing face first on the cold metal grate of the fire escape, which however painful was nothing more than relieving from the sweat that was pouring down his face. He took a couple of deep breaths to calm himself down and rolled to a sitting position messing his hair back up so it wasn't clinging to his face.

“Nightmare?” a voice squeaked.

Korbin managed a smile looking at Vee slumping in the window sill a worried look horribly trying to be hidden. “I’m fine.” he said reassuring her.

“Good, cuz i’m not,” she perked up fluttering to his face. It has been nearly 24 hours, and I haven’t had a single piece of delicious...mouthwatering...sugar.” She dragged on, slowly falling to her knees.

Shooting his head back in complete confusion he grabbed his pocket watch from around his neck, the only thing he still had that tied him to 1600’s. “For one, it’s only been nine hours since we came and two you had almost an entire box before we came here.”

“oh yeah.” she said slowly rolling her eyes to the left.

“I told you to save them.”

“N-”

“But you clearly didn't listen.”

“Bu-”

“And now you’re complaining, just like I said you would.” He smiled victoriously. Vee was pouting, she had nothing else to say due to the fact that more often than not she would tend to win these little arguments, this was one of those rare occasion she had not. “Gimme a minute.” Or maybe she didn't. He groaned stumbling through the window. “Let me change, I smell of the road and that mishap just then didn’t help any.”

“Yeah, wasn't gonna say anything for fear of hurting your ego.” she teased as Korbin flopped into the window and onto his back. “Why’d you go in head first?” she asked flying over his face.

“Give me five minutes.”

“I’ll hold ya to it.” Vee winked as she flew off.

Korbin slung himself up and quickly changed into a pair of jeans and a black long sleeve shirt. Every new place begins with a cookie run. “Lets go Vee.” Almost on cue she immediately dropped onto his head. Korbin was most likely related to a taxi when it came down to it thanks to the unfortunate accident of her wing breaking making it so she never flew the same. Although it was different now she still flew, it was just never long distances.

As she sat on his head he felt her begin to slow tap his head, something she often did as a way to pass the time which turned into a little jam session with her humming as well as keeping the beat and his harmonica. A little over fifteen minutes went by and Vee gave up the beat to simply lay on his head soaking up the sun as Korbin stayed with his harmonica. That is, up until Vee shut up, yanking on Korbin’s hair. He let out a subtle wince “The Hell?”

“Do you smell that?”

“What?”

“The sweet smell of sugar,” She had a smile from ear to ear as she peered through the window. “finally.” she said slowly moving under his shirt and to the back of his shoulder with her head sticking out, a spot she proclaimed to be her “hiding spot” when it comes to being in public. As they were looking at the arrangement when a man came out of the store, almost on instinct Korbin grabbed it as it was closing and walked in. “We must buy one of everything.” she whispered.

“Like hell.” he said louder than expected as he stepped in line, completely unaware of his surroundings.

Chuckled softly at mention of the bone gollums trying out ther tricks, then would click her fingers, the flame from the lighter jumping to the tip of her fingers, burning softly as she held it there, playing around with the little flame as she smiled at the gollum now sat in Kris' lap,"Oh, don't worry, I'll take them outside next time to teach them" she smirked, she was teasing, but in her head, starting up a class of her own didn't sound like a bad idea, atleast then she'd have a constant audience.

Lifaria smiled, seeing the new man wonder closer from the bakers, then joined the group and introdcing himself. Lif let the small flame blow out and then used her hand to fix her hair before smiling sweetly to the man, "Hello" she'd say, her voice sounding almost llike a purr as she radiated a warmth which the new man would feel if he stepped any closer. She'd wait for anyone to take the chance to greet him, then, if they hadn't, she'd extend her hand toward him, "I'm Lifaria Deroove, grand to meet you.." she'd purr again, looking up to his eyes as her own glinted devil-lishly.

Bridgette O'Leary

As more people arrived and started in on the conversation, Bridgette resorted to her typical behavior standing among everyone and quietly listening to everyone's various conversations. It's something she picked up in her early years as a human child, being a human was nothing akin to being a Faerie. So many times when playing with the groups of other children in the streets of her village, she found herself making a fool of herself. Many times being teased, by the other children, the nickname 'Odd Duck' followed her around for many years.

Even the parents would sometimes comment to Sean and Mary about the odd little things the children would tell them about Bridgette. But the O'Leary's wouldn't hear any of it, in their eyes the good Lord had brought their little girl back from the dead. So if she had a few odd quirks they would love her just the same, it's what drew Bridgette to humans in the first place their ability to form such strong bonds with each other. The Faerie folk didn't worry about making bonds with their children, as a child you didn't even stay with your parents longer than a few months till you were old enough to be on your own. Having a child, was just to add another worker to the group not because a pair loved each other and wanted to nurture that love by creating an offspring.

The few that knew her story, mostly the older people in Bluffinton would ask her, why she just didn't go back to her own people and family after the O'Learys passed on. Bridgette would sigh and tell them it wouldn't have mattered is she had gone back or not, her life would have just reverted back to the dull monotonous existence that it had been before she crawled into the cradle of that human child. It was hard seeing people you cared about come and go, but.... she would have never made connections with people like that ever if she had just gone back to her kin. It all came down to... being with the humans made her happy, so even with the sad times, the good times out weighed them substantially enough that she never returned to the Faerie Folk.

"I'm Adam, by the way. I don't think we've met. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've met any of you lovely people."

Bridgette looked up at the newcomer in town, there had been a few of those recently because well... Buffinton tended to attract all types of beings in this world. It was one of the reasons she loved the town so much.

"No, I certainly don't remember meeting ya Adam. Unless you've come into my shop. If ya had I apologize, sometimes I get so many people come'n and go'n through there that I can't keep up with'em all. My name is Bridgette O'Leary, I own O'Leary Produce across the way." She smiled and held out her hand to shake Adams.

As Lif, went on a trying to get the attentions of the newcomer, Bridgette internally shook her head and sighed. That girl I swear, like a peacock in the middle of mating season. Always wanting everyone to look at her plumes. Bridgette thought to herself.

She had already gone around with Kris, and nearly burnt down his shop. It was times like that, when Bridgette appreciated being in the form of a female, because Lif would always go for the males attention before she would a female in the group. She knew that she was beautiful and dangerous, using this to boost her own ego. In the end Lif was never looking for something meaningful with the men that fawned over her, the only thing she wanted is for them to fawn in the first place. Not that she didn't like Lif, it was just hard to keep things going in a conversation when a woman strips naked and sets herself on fire in the middle of it.

Euphemia Magdalena
Image

Euphemia sat up from her drinks and sighed deeply the box-o-blood sat torn apart on the kitchen table and she was feeling rather lonely at the moment, depressed really. She had to get out of this house, had to see people be among them. Go shopping or something, it would be good for her. She stood up and looked in the fridge, ‘what do we need?’ she asked herself and made a list.
 • Milk
 • Bread
 • eggs
 • 1/2 lb of Beef
 • 1/2 lb of Pork
 • Blood, a defendant!

She took the list and placed it in her handbag and pulling out two rather long white gloves from it and put them on. If she was to walk in sunlight it had to be in a way without direct contact. She put on her long necked coat that she specially made for it stretched longer most and dropped just under her chine. Placing a pair of sunglasses on, she grabbed her keys and walked into the garage adjacent to the kitchen. She walked around the car to the driver’s side, it was a 1958's Chevy Impala, a classic and if she was in need of the money she would sell it, but she was far too fond of the car to ever sell it.

Driving down the street she noticed a hell of a lot commotion going on in The Butcher’s store. my goodness, drama? But I do need to pick up my weeks order. she thought and parked her car on the side of the road. Getting out of the car she noticed a figure in the door, from the back she didn’t recognize them someone new in town? A few people 'new' from the looks of it. she thought to herself as she exited the car. Walking up to the group, she remained quiet for a moment looking to The Butcher, she mused a politeful "Excuse me" to the crowd of people.

"I don't suppose it's a bad time to pick up my weekly order Mr. Metzger?"

((OOC: God that too too long, can't think have to play Skyrim.))

Kris Metzger

Kris grinned, removing his cigar with his right hand and looking at Adam. "Yeah, these'd be my golems. I based 'em off an old family design, with a few modifications here 'n there, of course. Old world design called for mud and all that, but I figured I might as well work with something a bit cleaner if they're gonna be inside the shop instead of outside. Name's Kris, by the by. This little guy here," Kris said, gesturing towards the golem on his lap who had it's head tilted in curiosity at Adam. "This is Sweepy. First one I made when I got to Bluffington. He's about a year or two old now." Sweepy nodded, clicking excitedly and staring at Adam with his empty eye sockets.

As Euphemia approached the group, Kris glanced towards her, laying his cigar gently into the ash tray. "Not at all, Ms. Magdalena! If you'd give me a moment or two to get my apron back on and wash up, I'll have it out in a bit. And please, just call me Kris. Mr. Metzger was my father." Kris replied, lifting Sweepy off of his lap and putting him on the ground, earning an irritated croak for doing so. Standing up quickly so the golem wouldn't get a chance to climb back up, Kris nodded curtly to the group and gestured inside with one thumb. "If y'all would be so kind as to excuse me for a minute or two, I've got some business to attend to. Shouldn't take me too long. Now, Ms. Magdalena, your order is for the half pound of beef and pork, correct?" Kris spoke in a rapid patter, walking towards the door of his shop as the golems inside scurried behind the counter, waiting for orders.

Outside, Sweepy grabbed the cigar Kris had left in the ashtray, holding it in one paw as he climbed back onto the seat. Leaning back in a strange parody of Kris, Sweepy let out a quiet croak and wedged the cigar under his upper jaw, resuming his observation of Adam. Inside, Kris began pointing at various golems and giving one word commands, sending them rushing around the store in search of various knives and other items. "You know, I was wondering when you'd be by to pick up your order, ma'am. I've had barely any customers today, it seems like. I'd blame my little critters runnin' around the store as putting people off meat, but I don't think that'd be the case in this town." Kris said over his shoulder as he tied his apron around his waist and washed his hands.
