However, she has to have direct physical contact to do so, unless she has touched a person enough times. Ben hates her Gift with a passion and refuses to use it for anything other than self-defense. {Deceitful, Quiet, Observant, Adventurous, Cold, Distrustful}
On the outside, Benevolence Tera is the picture of Supporter perfection, her parents couldn't be more proud. However, she only keeps up this calm face of quiet flawlessness to hide who she truly is. She is actually quite condescending and arrogant in her mind, especially when sitting through hours of boring conversation. Ben is also very observant, which makes her a bit dangerous, especially if she can tell you are breaking the Customs. She is quiet because she is distrustful, the only person she fully trusts is Indigo. She can also come off as cold to people she doesn't like and she will let you know she doesn't like you without breaking the Customs. It is easy for her to come off as icy in short four word sentences.
Ben is also very adventurous and-dare I say it?- idealistic. She dreams of a world with bridges built across the river, uniting the two Sides. It is not unusual for her to spend hours at the riverbank, wishing she could leave behind her dull life of Customs and suitors. She wants to marry for love, but the majority of men among the Court are idiots that will do anything the Customs tell them to. Ben feels like something is going on beneath the surface of the West Side, but she won't bring it up to anyone, even Indigo, for fear of herself and them getting hurt. Ben is protective of her friends and family and truly does want to please them, but she doesn't know if she'd be willing to betray her heart and her morals to please them.
As much as she wants to leave the West Side, she knows she's not actually brave enough to. She wants to be like the heroes and heroines in her novels, always ready to leap into a fight. Ben is not brave enough to do anything like that, it's why she's tried so hard to obey the Customs. She doesn't want to seem out of place. Now, the only thing separating her from a life of Lady perfection is her inability to leave Ash River and her horror at marrying someone she doesn't love.

Hobbies:
Reading: Ben loves reading whatever she can get her hands on. One of the few things she misses about Miran University is their huge library.
Playing the Violin: Ben is an accomplished violin player, it was one of things that got her recognition as the Perfect.
Walking by the Riverbank: Her parents only let her do this because they plan on marrying her off to someone far inland. She goes closer to the edge than anyone else dares to, almost touching the water.
Swimming: It is taught to everyone on the West Side as a precaution during the Floods. More than one person has been lost to the water. However, unlike most people, Ben thoroughly enjoys swimming and will often do it at the designated pools.
Art: As well as being a good art critic, Ben is an amazing artist, but she can't draw faces, no matter how hard she tries. She loves to paint the river.

Benevolence Tera was born to Lord Draco Tera and Lady Patience Tera. She was their second child, with their son Cato being the oldest. From a young age, Ben had been obsessed with Ash River, along with Cato. The two were very close siblings. Ben was six when she met her dearest friends,Indigo and ________. Her life was amazing and she was already accomplished the Customs she was required to know. She was seven when Cato taught her and her friends to swim. On the eve of her eight birthday, the flood waters had frozen over and the Supporters had one of their few Ice Festivals. Ben, her brother, and her friends went out to go ice skating.
As she was skating around with Cato, Ben stepped on a thin piece of ice. She would've have fallen through if it wasn't for Cato. He grabbed his arm and flung her to the side. Unfortunately, he toppled forward into the deep icy water. They found his body two weeks later when the ice had thawed. Ben lived up the perfect expectation of what to do at a funeral, which was held when the flood waters receded. She listened to people's condolences, smiled politely, and acted like the perfect Lady. However, when the last guest had left, she raced out of her house. She stood next to the riverbank, heaving in gulps of air before she broke down sobbing. She knew her mother was doing the same thing in the privacy of her bedroom, but Ben's bedroom didn't offer the same comfort Ash River did. She saw a boy watching her from the East Side, but she didn't care.
She only returned when Indigo came out to get her. Ben spent five more weeks at home, wearing her mourning dress, before she was sent away on a carriage with Indigo to Miran University for Girls. At the University, she was the picture of Lady perfection. She received A+'s in all of her classes, excelled at the clubs, was brilliant in debates. She graduated with the title of "Perfect", which made her a possible candidate for the throne. However, she made few friends at Miran with exception of the girls that acted like her friends. She couldn't wait to leave that horrid place so far away from the river.
She returned to her parents' estate, welcomed with open arms. Ben wished that the Lady training was over, but she was forced to attend parties, make decisions on things, act like she hated the snobs she went to school with, and meet potential suitors. She hated it and still hates it. Recently, Ben has been thinking about crossing the river. She has informed Indigo about this, but isn't sure if she should tell ______. However, she also knows that she is candidate for being the Queen and she has no idea what is truly on the other side.
