The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 11 authors
It's been thousands of years since republic city was created by Avatar Aang, the new home to the Academy.
Avatar Lee, had a visit to the spirit world and was advised to build a school for the finest benders around the world, to create more masters and stronger nations.
He was also instructed to the the teacher. Today is the first day where all of the finest benders are arriving.
"I'm going to be late!" I cried. Turning around quickly, I hugged my uncle who owned the boat. "Bye Uncle, Thanks for the ride!" I said yelling to him as i sprinted off.
He laughed, and waved as I left. "Good luck Naku!" He called as he began unloading the cargo he was transporting. He would be gone by tomorrow morning.
I ran through the city, saying "Sorry!", "Excuse me!" and "Out of the way!" multiple times. Wow there sure are lots of people here...
I looked at the small, crumpled piece of paper in my hand that told me where to go. Turning a corner, I slammed into a man walking down the street. The paper flew out of my hand in a small gust of wind, and I gasped as i lept forward to grab it out of the air. "No!" I screamed and ran after it. "No no no no no!" It soared away until a lost sight of it. My back slouched, and I groaned.
"Hmf!" I sat up and put my hands on my hips, and gave myself an ispirational smile. "I think I know the way anyway." I turned around and began marching down the street. After about twenty minutes, I lost my insperation again.
"Ohhh... I'm sooo dead!" I groaned, as I walked into something. "Ugh... ow..." I muttered as I rubbed my forhead. Looking up, O saw it was a sign. It said 'The Avatar's Bender Academy.' I gasped in delight and hopped slightly.
"Yes! I knew I could find it!" I proclaimed and started walking towards the front door, my backback with my belongings jangling on my back. I reached the door and put my hand on the door knob. I sudden chill went down my spine.
What If I'm not good enough... I mean, this place is for the gifted... an... and I can barely control my own element...
My hand slid off the door knob, and i looked at the ground, just standing there.
Yan was now running, alone in his speed, down the boulevard which housed his parents' porcelain shop. It was in a wealthier neighborhood, despite their strictly middle-class status. The poor weren't too fond of fine china, it seemed. His chaotic rush allured a few eyes, halted more than three satomobiles to a risky-fast halt. He didn't have time to apologize, though got the obligatory guilt in the streams of curses chasing after him.
Late late late. Late for his first day aat the Avatar's exclusive bending school. Yan really couldn't believe he had just done this to himself. Halfway, he rushed into a noodle stand a grabbed a quick to-go. Training hungry would be a worse fate than arriving late, growing boys needed food. The pause in his self-inflicted chase also steered his attention to the three frogs at the top of his jacket, wide open. Yan remedied the situation and ran and ate.
The one bit of praise he allowed himself was that he had checked out and memorized the location of the academy beforehand. He was there in little time, in reality. His speed compensated, both in bending and running, for his awful coordination.
Smoothing his hair, catching his breath, and trying not to look like the moron he did, Yan entered the academy. It was all professional, beautiful, and real. The Avatar had really put some funds into this place, and Yan was agape. He swallowed his last bit of breakfast, repurposed his mouth for an immense grin, and stepped into the dojo.
"Morning master!"

I looked out to the dock we were entering, a smile reaching across my face to see land big enough to hold all eight of us! I turned to face my company, holding out my arms.
"Well, here we are," I grabbed my closest friend in for a hug, for one last time. "Are you sure you guys don't want to stay a little while?" I asked. All the while travelling to the Republic I had nagged my friends if they would stay just for a small while with me, but they all would rather just stay home.
"You know that's impossible Dani," Tracey smiled and hugged me back.
The boat softly knocked the side of the dock, urging me to put my feet on stable ground. I sighed slightly before searching for my little bag and walking off the boat.
I turned and faced the boat, eight smiling faces and several waving hands gesturing good-byes.
Excitement crawled up my spine as I grabbed a piece of paper out of my back pocket which told me the way to the Academy.
Waving goodbye to his mom as she smiled proudly, he knew that smile and it made him smile back, he waved lazily at his mother and turned on his heel to walk away. "Where was this place again." Deciding to go with the flow, he walked towards a little map of the city he put his finger on the words: "The Avatars Bending Academy." Studying it trying to remember the directions, he took his time walking to the academy. Feeling that there wasn't any rushing or anything, since he had no one to hit him on the back of the head with a rolled up piece of paper. Sighing once again, he continued to walk towards the academy he had started to see in the distance.
Looking up and around this new place he was at, he had to explore later, if he wasn't sleeping at that time. Walking up to the academy, he ignored everyone around him and walked inside. He was hungry and wondered if he should have stopped at the nearest food shop around the academy before going to see the avatar. Shaking his head he couldn't think about food at this moment, he had to go see the avatar which -of course- he was very serious in meeting.

I stepped towards the large doors, anxious about seeing how grand it was look inside, and excited to meet the Avatar, Master of all elements. Although, I couldn't see myself learning much with how little I do know, it's sure to be a slow learning curve for me. I opened the large doors and walked inside to see a handful of people already inside. I gasped at the beauty of the interior. I was so excited, I could have wet myself.
I decided to take a little stroll of the Academy and make myself familiar with the bending school.
She got off the boat, it was a whole new experience for her. She's never been to a city like this, with real buildings and cars on roads. She's from a place full of ice, penguins, and snow.
She took a few minutes to get a look around the city.
Kaya had a mini map of the place, so she wouldn't get lost when she finally had the opportunity to meet the Avatar. Not just meet him but learn from him.
You could tell she's not a city girl, she was dressed in her tribe's Eskimo like attire. Walking around the city you could tell who's from there or not.
Her dream finally came true.
Sighing, I tried to muster up as much courage as I could, and turned the doorknob and walked in. The interior is amazing. It almost compete with the iciclce cavern I discovered while exploring. Almost. My foot steps echoed from the vastness of the building.
I could see that a few others were standing around waiting for the Avatar. I was very excited to meet him just like everyone else, but... I was truly nervous I was going to get kicked out right at the begining. Father always told me I had lots of power bottled up, and I need to learn to harness it... I sighed. I stood on the outskirts of the room, looking shy.
As he reached in front of his students he waved to all of them.
"Welcome everyone, as I'm guessing you know I am Avatar Lee. You are all unique students of this fine place. Now are you ready to do some intense training?" He smiled with his shiny white teeth.
Am I really doing that..? I wondered. I tried to even my breathing, and I saw the water calm down slightly. I tried to act like I wasn't doing it, and rested my eyes on the Avatar again. I tried to stand up straiter and taller, but I was shorter then everyone else in the room. My shoulders sagged, "Its almost like being at home, but being excepted more of..." I groaned silently.
He flew towards the place the Avatar should be at, since he was a bit late and it would be rude to be any more later. He went in tumbling, but he managed to be silent while tumbling. It would have been embarrassing, if he actually cared about that kind of stuff. "Sorry I'm late, but I crashed into something." He didn't feel the need to explain any more, since he didn't really care about the people in the room enough to not act cold-hearted towards them.
"So I want all of you to get in a line, and each one of you do your favorite trick. Impress me." He said with a smile.
He nodded his head, and stepped a side, his hands were crossed behind his back.
He also added "I want you to focus on what you will be doing, some students will probably be a bit late so just focus on what you do and not on who comes inside the door."
He exclaimed and made a clear point. "Concentration is the main key."

It was a technique he had just perfected. And it wasn't perfect. To anyone, even a nonbender, it was obvious that Yan had power, but no technique. He had been working on that to the best of his abilities, as straight bursts of metal weren't practical.
Squaring himself in a wide stance, his eyes searched for a stray, large metal scrap he could use. He figured that with the new construction there had to be... there. It was just outside the door, though. Flashing an apologetic grin at his teacher, he ran outside and grabbed the beam, plopping on the floor with a boom.
Back to stance, one breath in. With a rough extension of his upper arm, it was done.
A huge semi-sphere blocked the Avatar from the line of them, encompassing him just inches from his face.
The shape was far from perfect. Cracks, indents, and crags made it seem unstable, and deformed it. Aware of this, Yan quickly retracted it back towards himself, breaking a sweat. He kept the hunk, now no longer artful or back to it's original, geometric form, levitated between his spread arms.
"Very impressing indeed Yan. Your earth bending skills are very high. I can't wait to teach you more moves, when we will start our intense training."
He patted the student, and asked him to stand next to him as it was the next student's turn.
"It's your turn now, show me what you got." He said with a huge grin.
I rolled my eyes slightly. Everybody says that. I stared at the water for a while, allowing its presence to soak and mesh with mine. My favorite trick... Hmm... let see...
Concentrating as hard as possible, and then some, I held a hand out towards the water. I round ball rose out of the water, and I levitated it infront of me. Concentrate... Conecentrate! I gritted my teeth, and clenched my fists. The water froze. I spread my arms out quickly, it broke into hundreds of icicles. I made a forwards punching motion, half of them shot forwards, and stabbed into the wall. They were supposed to go into the ground... I growled at my own mistake. I tried with the other fist, but the pieces seemed to freeze in the air, and melt. For the third time, my shoulders sagged, and I sighed, "That's so simple yet impossible for me."
It was the water bender girl's turn. He saw that she put in a lot of effort in what she was doing, he saw that she also had potential not many water benders could make ice. She just needed more practice and guidance.
"You have a unique talent, not many of your kind can do that, I can see that you put a lot of effort you just need more practice." he told the water bender.
He told the entire class "The main reason why I am doing this is to see your strengths and weaknesses."
The girl from the southern water tribe stood next to the avatar and the earth bender.
"Boy, am I in trouble..." She shook her head and, after rolling the map back up, shoved the map into her brass canister. She didn't think to ask for where the Academy might've been. She had assumed it would have been on her map. After about twenty minutes of casual walking, she found a street map. Apon inspection, she put her hand on the map and memorized where the Academy was, so she could find it on her mini map. And she walked at a brisk pace towards it.
In honesty, she was impressed by the Academy, and it's dojo-like style. She wouldn't let that show, though, and instead she trodded to the front door and quietly pushed it open, and stood in the back of the line. She had no idea what was going on, but she could observe for now.
The water bender girl seemed to be a bit nervous. Alex knew that some people found it frightening to be stared at and expected something of, and that is why he never cares about what people besides his close friends think of him. He stopped his thoughts and decided to pay attention to the water bender, so he could study what she was doing. The girl was able to freeze the water, but it broke into hundreds of shards. She made a forward motion, then a lot of the shards hit the wall. The rest of the pieces melted in the air, but Alex knew that she was good and that it took quite a bit of effort to freeze water. "That's so simple, yet impossible for me." She sighed and the tension in her shoulders was released. "The reason why I am doing is to see your strengths and weaknesses." The avatar told the entire class this, so Alex decided he would speak privately with the Avatar on how to fix Alex's flaws. Alex was a fool, but he knew this and he didn't care. He was not surprised that some of the students should be advanced, since this was the academy made by the Avatar himself.
He turned to the both of them, they seemed to be confused.
"Please stand in line, we are now demonstrating out favorite bending move. This is how I will see your strengths and weaknesses. So please try to impress me, and focus."
He smile and turned his head to the person who was next.
Taking a deep breath in, she let it out slowly, before pushing the doors open to what would be a long road to Mastery of bending Earth. She could hear benders already at work, and made her way to where the noise came from, peaking her head inside.
The Avatar was watching others bend, while directing the new comers to the back of the line. Dropping her bag near the entrance of the door, she had made it just in time for the water tribe girl to show what she had. It was quite obvious she was nervous, but she seemed to be doing alright.
She walked in front of the avatar and bowed down. She got back up in standing position and swayed her hands like the water was alive, like it was moving. All of a sudden she grabbed a huge amount of water from the pond and spun around with the water, she created a sphere of water around her and made it go hard. She was inside the sphere, she lowered her hands down and the fort burst into snow. She was panting when she finished. And smiled towards the avatar, being pleased with her results.
"Hm. I can see you are in control of your water bending, but your fort was made of thin ice. We can work on that. Good job." Said the Avatar to the waterbender.
She left her spot and stood next to the other students, and her teacher.
"Who's next?" The Avatar questioned.
"You have to have some guts to hold your fire like that. You just need to increase your fire endurance, very well."
He boy from the Fire Nation walked to the avatar and stood next to him and his students.
"Wow I'm impressed with everyone so far, so whose up next?" he said all enthusiastically.
Woosh! was the sound the fireball made at that instant, as she jumped in the air, flipped, and brought her leg down inot it cutting it in half. As soon as she landed, she thrust one palm at the left half and the other at the right. The fire died down. She sat there panting, only just now realising she'd been panicking.
