Amelia Finch ♀
"Just Amelia, if you please... no nicknames..."
Age
80
Appearance
Often times Amelia looks as if she just rolled out of bed, or didn't bother to look in the mirror before joining society. Her hair is halfheartedly put up (often barely up in her band at all) and hangs in wild clumps. She always is at various states of dishevelment, forgetting to wear shoes or shirts or even pants. She stares off into space with a dreamy, far-off expression in her water-blue eyes. Most times she looks as if she is inhabiting her own imagination world.
Certainly, she isn't the most imposing figure. She barely stands at 5"6, with the build of an orphan waif. Even the clothes she wears, usually just black robes wrapped around herself, stark against her porcelain skin, hangs off her bony frame like curtains on a rod. Her regal cheekbones and long neck, combined with her faraway expression, casts a mysterious pall over her. With her white skin and long blond hair, she can seem eerie, ethereal.
Occasionally, a smile spits her face, breaking like a wave on the shore. The littlest things can spark it: butterflies, a flower in bloom, a hug. In these times she seems to light up, bright as all the stars in the sky, and an inner her breaks through. Vibrant, glowing... alive.
A huge scar mottles the complexion on her back.
Personality
Amelia is a child at heart, with all the innocence that accompanies it. However, watching the atrocities of the Sun War has wracked her with grief, overcome her with guilt. From time to time, the exhaustion returns; you can see the weariness flit across her face. However, residing in this secluded paradise has renewed her spirits. Her old sneakiness and playfulness is beginning to return, as well as reverting somewhat to the flirt she once was. She soothes herself by diving into her art and her gardening.
The vampire's personality, when not totally loopy, is gentle and sweet. Soft spoken, Amelia has trouble really commanding authority when things out of hand-- which tends to get her in trouble. She often comes off as a pushover. She has a noticeable stutter that gives her trouble, slowly forming each word with much consideration.
Still, she wears her heart on her sleeve. She is completely truthful to the point of brutally honest. She is an optimist with perhaps a sprinkle of naivete. She despises violence. Sometimes the pain bottled up within her bleeds through. She isn't known for self-control, after all; she's so absentminded. But she loves humans. Oh, she fiercely loves humans-- after all, she once was one. She blames vamps and humans equally for what has befallen them, and delights in the peace that has now come.
Likes
• Cooking. While she can take no pleasure in the actual food, she allows herself to hold onto this one familiar comfort from her human life.
• Games and riddles. She loves testing her wits and relaxing through games. She's a playful person.
• Art. Amelia is a master with paints. Colorful masterpieces spring from her brush the moment it touches the canvas.
• Snuggly pajamas.
• Chick flicks.
• The sun. She never gets to really see it now that she's dead; she's forgotten what it's like to be warm. Actually, it really bothers her that she can't go out in it anymore, so this is a love-hate relationship. Her parents would always tell her to go play in the outdoors rather than staying cooped up inside with her paints, and now she regrets all the times she scoffed at them.
• Animals and nature. She adores bunnies, butterflies, trees, deer, rivers, gardening, and long strolls in the forest.
• Touching. She's a very touch-oriented person. The feel of human (or vampire) touch calms and reassures her. She loves cuddling, hugging, holding hands, kissing. She's comfortable with her body and doesn't mind other people laying hands on it.
Dislikes
• Work, chores. Neat freaks. Calm down and relax.
• The dark. She's had enough of the intrigue of the night. She misses the daylight.
• People with tans. She can't get one. It's not fair!
• Prejudice.
• Blood. Her addiction to it repulses her.
• Unneeded violence.
History
Amelia fought and killed in the Sun War, like everyone did. She despised it. Once the truce came, she rejoiced in the peace that the vampires and humans had come to and fully embraced the laws that were made regarding vampires, including human registry (turning a blind eye, perhaps intentionally, to the more negative aspects of the trade). She eagerly signed up for a pact with a human... but believe it or not, her intention was not for blood, but just to build tolerance.
She saw all the blood she ever wanted to see in the Sun War. She's had enough for a lifetime. After it ended, she swore she would never drink blood again. Frustratingly enough, she has not been altogether successful in this (a vamp's gotta eat). But she presses on in the endeavor. She believes that humans and vampires cannot truly be at peace until vamps stop feeding off the humans like parasites. However, her bloodlust is as strong as any vamp's, and the longer she goes without the precious elixir, the more hungry she gets...
She gained the scar on her back when a human thrust her into the sun during battle.
