ImageIt first started out like any other scientific breakthrough did, with a simple desire to break the norms of society and prove your predecessors wrong. And that is exactly what Dr. Allen Warren had done, the impossible. For years now, since man was first able to see the cells that made up their very beings and the cells of the not so human, man has always envied the other species for their natural gifts of power and allure. However man has always thought the idea of integrating these desirable traits into the human genome was impossible, but like any other budding scientist Warren thought otherwise. And so the experiments began . . .

Unfortunately the first few years were a total failure and soon scientific societies began to drop away, smelling defeat in the air. Scrambling to get the funds he needed, Dr. Warren pleaded with military government’s all over the world. If they funded his experiments they’d receive their share of these “experiments”, but he never made it aware that they were not the only ones in the bargain. When he finally gained his funds Dr. Warren resumed his experiments.

The first success was with the embryo of what would have been a healthy human boy. His DNA had been mixed together with that of the most common bear species in the world, the brown bear. The experiment known only as Test Subject Zero grew into his toddler years and then his teenage years, knowing nothing of life outside his small cage. Ecstatic with the results, Dr. Warren showed Test Subject Zero to the government. Having the hybrid show off the attributes he had gained from being spliced with bear DNA, the various governments were overjoyed at having their soldier. Without a second though they ordered the mastermind to make more of like Subject Zero, and it didn’t take long to get started.

Needing a new alias, Dr. Warren formed a group that became known as the Scientific Agency of Project: Hybrid or SAPH for short. With more orders of these super soldiers it became obvious that many of them would fail the initial test, with nearly 70% dying off in the first or second stage. Then another 5% during the final stage, the military training regime which would decide the usefulness of the remaining hybrids.

Only 30% survived the “initiation” program and each government picked out their desired hybrid. SAPH officially was the caretaker of these hybrids and so they were raised like a family but each one had their own group based on which government had asked for their making. The first couple of years were difficult to say the least when their respectful governments took them for a month to test out their “new toys”. However this did not last long. Not only did the hybrids get older, their instincts and raw power had risen to dangerously new levels. Each hybrid has what was called a Success Rate with each one being different compared to another. These Success Rates decided just how much of their bestial part of their DNA they would have access to. The average was between 40%-70% for any higher would be dangerous.

It has been known for hybrids to raise their Success Rates overtime by tapping into this bestial side but with power comes a price. There’s a reason to why the average is between 40% and 70%, it’s kept there with the purpose of preventing the hybrids from “unraveling”. You see those with too low or high of a Success Rate were either too human or too animalistic. The closer to human they were the higher the chance of them dying due to the foreign DNA and cells in their body. The same goes for those who are too close to their animal counterpart but with them it is more like a domestic dog getting a touch of rabies. They become rabid, attacking anything and everything in sight, including themselves in an attempt to rid themselves of this foreign presence.

ImageWith hybrids raising their success rates more often, the government began to fear the idea of the whole contingent of hybrids going rabid. And so with great dismay Warren agreed to eradicate each and every one of them.

    • This is a literate role play. I do expect you to be able to write in complete, legible sentences without text talk or anything of the like. Furthermore, while I'm not going to tell you it has to be a certain length (as I am more concerned with quality as opposed to quantity) I do expect the length to be appropriate in consideration with the scenario. If I notice a consistently severe disconnect in length and scene, I'll probably say something. Hint: Shouldn’t be less than 300 words
    • The Hybrid portion of this roleplay lend themselves to god-modding. I understand that. I am not a fool. However, I believe that you, as the puppet masters have the ability to equalize those powers with appropriate weaknesses, and I believe that you all know enough about god-modding to know how to avoid it. If you don't know what god-modding is I am sure there is a plethora of roleplayers who would be happy to explain it to you; I am one of them. My point is: Don't God-Mod. I don't put up with it and neither should anyone else.
    • I have been in roleplays where arguments and debates have taken place. I don't mind the occasional friendly debate. I am open to opinions and would always be happy to hear yours. However, this is not a debate thread and I am not so open to arguments. You are welcome to share your opinions, but the moment things get too heated and I tell you to stop; you had better.
    • You are welcome to add anything you want to the character sheets, I am all for creativity, but please fill in the character sheet completely. I won't accept WIPs. I'll be happy to look them over and give you feedback, but they won't be accepted until they are complete. (With perhaps the exception of a theme song since I know those are extremely difficult to find.) Also, you’re more welcome to use your own character sheet as long as it contains the same information.
    • If you have gotten to this point in your rule reading, please tell me your favorite song. ^^
    • I am the GM, so if I tell you not to do something and you persist in doing it, I will remove you from the roleplay. However, I understand I am an imperfect being, so I ask if I ever do something out of line: say something to me. I don't want you guys to hate me and I can accept criticism.
    • I love ideas. I highly encourage plotting with one another and making drama and conflict and relationships - what I don't like are insta-ships and undeveloped angst. Be smart about how you go about plotting, make it good for the readers! Take initiative and message one another with ideas, don't just post in the ooc that you're open to plot, make the effort to come up with ideas yourself. A lot of this roleplay's plot and conflict will be up to the group to come up with, as GM I will generate villain NPCs and conflict as we need it but I would love for everyone to be involved. We can only get out of this what we put into it.
    • Respect each other guys; I feel like I kind of addressed this already but it is important enough to mention again. We are all here to have fun, let's not forget that.
    • I neither encourage nor discourage romance. If you want to be romantic that is entirely up to you, however, I do expect you follow the rules of the site.
    • Be active. I don't expect a post a day, but I do expect at least one post a week (at the very least, preferably more). If you are going to disappear let us all know, so that we are prepared and aren't left hanging, confused, and frustrated. Also, try not to leave anyone behind. Be mindful that some people may not be able to post as quickly as you.
    • I may have forgotten something so just be mindful of what I say to or not to do outside of this rules page.
    • Also, if you have read all of the rules then when you reserve please provide the FC, the animal you will be using (in latin), said picture of the animal (I’ll give ya brownie points if its funny), obviously the role and . . . I think that’s it. Oh! If you’re up for it try letting me know what Success Rate you’re Hybrid will be at. It’s really for the sole purpose of being able to keep track of stuff. The skeleton will be posted in the OOC

Here is where everyone will be making reservations, discussing plot stuff and most important of all just having some good fun with each other however before we get into to all that here is some very important information.

    • Success Rate:The Success Rate determines how much animal DNA was incorporated into the human genome. It generally ranges from 40% to 70% although it has been known to be lower or higher, with the highest ever being 87%. This success rate belongs to none other than Subject Zero and has yet to be seen in any other Hybrid due to how unstable the Hybrid is. The Success Rate also determines how a Hybrid may turn out. The higher the rate, the more traits it contains whether it is physical, mental or ability. The same can be said if it were to go lower, meaning the Hybrid will be more human compared to those with a higher rate.
    • Unwinding: A phenomenon that plagues any and all Hybrids, regardless of their Success Rate. The unwinding of a Hybrid refers to their DNA. Even though SAPH was able to succeed in graphing animal DNA into a human, they were unable to make it permanent. They were however able to make it last but it depends on the Success Rate. The higher the rate, the higher the chances are of a Hybrid unravelling before the age of thirty. Of course this is all just theoretical as most Hybrids are killed during a task or eliminated for insubordination before they reach that age. None of the Hybrids are aware of this so when they push themselves, they risk unravelling their DNA. It’s much like how one twists two pieces of string with a weight at the end. The tighter it is the faster it unravels.
    • Hybrid Types:Currently there are only animal Hybrids, meaning they have yet to experiment with insect DNA. The only problem with this piece of information is that the actual project is very hush-hush, so whether it does exist or not is up for speculation.

Okay. Now that I got that out of the way I’m going to explain the roles, or rather the types of animals that may be used. I will only allow one wild cat and wolf hybrid, granted you guys chose those. Please be as diverse as possible with the animals that you choose. The original role play, before the second remake and before the third remake (which is this role play), we had a snake Hybrid, a porcupine Hybrid, a mouse Hybrid, a hawk Hybrid, you get the picture.
Also please keep in mind the human part of this. I know it’s tempting to make a badass Hybrid with claws, fangs, super everything, and be an expert in the use of weaponry and martial arts but please don’t be that guy. Try to keep it balanced. If you’re a prey type Hybrid, aka a mouse or squirrel etc, then I understand the reasoning behind knowing how to use weapons however if you’re a predator type, aka a lion or wolf, then I don’t quite see the need in it. Also remember to incorporate not just human weaknesses but also the animal weakness too. Try as they might, SAPH has yet to figure out how to get just the good stuff from the animal DNA.

With all that being said you guys may now begin to reserve^w^ OH! If you’re really interested but all the roles are filled you I can see about adding more and competition is allowed. If ya got any questions feel free to ask, I don’t bite;3

So begins...
