Introduction

Hundreds of years ago, there was a book; a wordless book. No stories written, only blank pages. It was owned by a boy, a lonely boy who's family could barely afford the roof over their heads. His life was a difficult one, filled with sickness, hardship, and loss. However, there was one thing the boy loved more than anything in the world; stories. Every night, his father or his mother would tell him all different kinds of stories; ones with knights, princesses, mermaids, and witches. He loved being tucked in at night because that meant he was to hear more of these fables. He did not have an easy life, but this made him happy.

One day, that all changed. The boy was but eight years old when his mother became ill. They knew not what was ailing her, but it took her quickly. On her deathbed, the boy's mother told him to write in the wordless book. Write the stories he had heard, write the stories he had never heard, write new stories, old stories, whatever he could think of. After his mother's death, the boy's father became distant. He stopped telling his stories, he stopped eating, stopped talking, and started drinking...

The boy's father was too grief-stricken by his wife's death to care about his own life, or his son's. He became depressed, and eventually, when the boy was ten, he took his own life, leaving his son alone in the world. The boy was taken to an orphanage where he lived for many years. The book remained wordless, but he kept it close, as if he might die if he lost it. When the boy was 13, he was taken in by an old man. The man was kind and gentle, and he took good care of the boy. He noticed the boy's book and curiously, he asked him about it. The boy had told the story of the book, what it was to be, but never was.

The old man went to his library and looked around for a book while the boy watched curiously. When the old man found what he searched for, he gently held it out to the boy and said,
"This book is a very special one. If you follow what it says, it will fill your empty book with much more than stories. But you must not open this book or read it's contents until I die. You must understand this, for once you understand what this book offers, your life will be changed forever." The boy agreed and he and the old man lived together as foster father and son until the boy turned 19. That was the day the old man finally passed. Saddened, the boy spent his time alone. He grieved in silent solitude for one whole year.

All the years that had passed made the boy forget of the special book the old man had given to him. On his 20th birthday, he suddenly remembered the old man's words. Instantly, the boy took the special book from it's place and opened it to read it's contents. It was a spell book! Inside there was a particular spell that jumped out at him. It told of a spell that could fill an empty book with unlimited stories and the caster would be taken into the book and live in the world he or she had created. However, after it was cast, the book would become cursed to any of its readers. Whomever decided to read the cursed book would go through the same fate that the caster had. They would be transported inside the book with no hope of returning to the world they once lived.

The boy had decided with the old man that, after his passing, the home would be turned into a library where anyone could read the old man's many books. The boy had already begun to build this before he had read the book. Seeing the warning in the spell book, he took it into the basement where some of the older books were. Locking the door behind him, he placed the wordless book on a pedestal and read the spell aloud. The wordless book glowed and words began to appear on the empty pages. After the spell was finished, the boy stepped to the book and touched it softly. Immediately, he was transported inside, never to return again.

The library is now a popular place to go and spend time. Complete with a modernized interior, it is a very comfortable place to come and get a coffee or tea and read a book. The basement of the library remains sealed off, as the property contracts states that it is forbidden to open it up. Which of course, leads to rumors with the children, teens, and young adults around town.

You, should you choose it, are one of these young men or women who have found a curiosity in seeing for themselves what is really down in that basement. There is a plan to sneak inside at night and find a way into the basement where the secrets it has hidden since it was built will finally be revealed. Little do you know that seeing what lies beyond the sealed wooden door will change your life forever...

Image

In the world of the book, the boy had made a life for himself. In the book world, he does not age, as many do not. However, all is not peaceful inside this world. There are rivalries and hatred between the kingdoms. The Kingdom of Aravale, the Kingdom of Denmarr, the Kingdom of Elvae, the Kingdom of Atlantia, the Kingdom of Morinae and the Kingdom of Liridale are all at odds against each other. The boy cannot to anything to stop these wars, and fears life in his perfect world is not what he thought it would be. He will call out to young people from the world beyond to help aid him in his quest to bring peace to this world.

You, should you choose it, are from one of the kingdoms in this world. What your past and current state are is your choosing. You could side with the boy, now a man, who came to this world years ago, or you can side with your kingdom in getting what they want. Either way, what you choose may change your life forever...

The Kingdom of Aravale is where the normal humans live. They have a marketplace for trade and purchasing things. A church, a theater, and everything else you might think is in a human kingdom. This is where the boy resides.

Image
Image
The Kingdom of Denmarr is the home of the mages and those who are in-tune with magic. They are disliked by many because in certain places, magic is frowned upon. The Sorcerer and Sorceress rule this kingdom. In the marketplace, they sell potions and trade them to those who will take them in neighboring kingdoms. They also have a town square where magic is demonstrated frequently. There is a mage tower that houses unstable mages as well.

Image
Image
The Kingdom of Elvae is home to the Elves. They are a quiet people with a love for nature and archery. They have skills of speaking with animals and do their best to keep out of fights. They are one of the most hated of all the kingdoms, and are often referred to as "Knife Ears." Their kingdom has a small marketplace that sell fruits and vegetables and elven-made elixers. They are ruled by a King and a Queen.

Image
Image
The Kingdom of Atlantia is where the merfolk reside. Mermaids and Mermen. They are magical beings, and when they are dry, their tails disappear and turn into legs. This way, they can walk about the land. When they touch water, their tails return and they are able to swim and breathe underwater again. They are responsible for the fish in the land. Their marketplace consists of kelp and coral shops that sell food. They are ruled by a King.

Image
Image
The Kingdom of Morinae houses all the mythical creatures. Centaurs, Werewolves, Fairies, Pixies, Gnomes, Dragons, and the like. They are ruled by the Lady of the Forest. Many do not think they are a threat because they are one with nature, much like the Elves. They are, however, allies with the Elven people.

Image
Image
The Kingdom of Liridale is home of all the darkness. The demons, spirits, evil witches and others like that. Any evil beings of other kingdoms will often flee here to reside. It is safe for them here because there is a dark magic protecting the land from intruders. There is no ruler here, and it is wise for others to steer clear of this land...

I only smiled as the Pixie said it didn't know it had a place. "Everyone has a place. All it takes is someone to realize their potential. For example. You say you lack any power. Your visage itself inspires fear in those who would witness it, otherwise you would not have been driven to my realm, and I know most pixies have a certain... Hypnotic ability... I see a position for you as either diplomat, assassin, or-" I was rudely interrupted from my soliloquy as an already-employed assassin(Patience, good kid, great with his trade and his blades, gets my name right once every three times.) landed about thirty feet away and ran over. I sighed, and cradled my head in one hand.

"We've been over this, Patience, it's the information first, THEN any questions. Directive then inquisitive. You sound like you never went to school otherwise." I then made a quick motion with my other hand, "Kabal, this is Patience, one of my assassins, Patience, Kabal, the Pixie I was planning on hiring on as a Dragon." Seeing the confusion on their faces, I continued, "A second-in-command, someone I give tasks I want done, the guy who gets said stuff done? But I'm getting distracted, you said a light, can you be more specific? The job can't be considered if I lack understanding of it." Elise drifted into my hand, and I began twirling her around, the spinning staff directed as much by her magic as by me. I had a bad feeling about this "light", mainly because anyone who's read a single fantasy novel knows what "the light" does to the bad guy.

Era Kodes, Sorceress of Dunmarr

A stroll through the farmer's market wouldn't hurt. Era thought to herself as she made her way down from deep within the castle. She had been pacing the library for hours. Another sleepless night, messing around with magic out of boredom. She could easily just conjure more food, but it was the idea of going outside that sounded much better. As she made her way into the center square, where the market was, she started to wander around the stands. Other people, working the stands or wandering themselves among the stations of food, bowed before her as she made her way around. Forcing smiles in return to those who acknowledged her presence, she stopped at a small cheese stand.

"Good day my lady!" The person behind the stand spoke, he was an older man who must have lived on the outskirts of the kingdom. If his clothes were any hint. He smiled at her, warm and genuine, and Era returned one that looked similar.

"What kind of cheeses do you make, merchant?" She asked in a sweet hum and he started to prepare samples for her, explaining what each one was. She tasted each one, listening as he went on. It was a nice distraction from her inability to sleep. She hadn't slept for more than an hour the past few nights and it was starting to take tolls on her energy. If she had the emotions, she would probably feel extremely cranky and frustrated. But that wasn't a factor, fortunately.

Ice Kiran, Queen of Elvae

The sound of Beren's mutter drew Ice closer out onto the outer steps of the palace. "Maedwen, you silly girl," Ice frowned a little, knowing that he must be growing more worried for every minute that she was gone. Ice felt the same way, but had always figured that she would show at some point or another. If she didn't return by the dead of night, it was then that she would worry as much as Beren was now. Ice stepped just to his side, her hand on his shoulder as she looked out in front of her.

"She will be home. If not, then we can send more parties, and go look for ourselves." She said in a gentle voice, as she gave his shoulder a small squeeze. Her patience had a long way to go before it wore thin over their daughter's whereabouts. Of course, there was always a hint of worry inside of her for every minute Maedwen was even awake. What kind of mother would she be if she didn't worry at all? Ice's hand slid down his arm gently before finding itself in front of her, folded with her other hand.

"What kind of adventures do you think she has gotten herself into, today?" She asked with a small smile in an attempt to lighten the mood. It was a little weak, but it was better than nothing.

Keiren Ogygia

"Storyteller!"

Keiran's eyes widened. There was someone who recognized him all the way out in this gods-forsaken kingdom? He watched as one of the trolls dragged a mermaid towards the pot. He almost stopped humming in surprise. The Princess! What cruel fate brought her here? He watched in admiration as she sent the water from the pot at the trolls and he dearly wished that it was boiling. At her words, he nodded and dried himself with the towel. He ran after her as he did so, his legs forming from fins.

"You have excellent timing, Princess," he told her, grimacing as he heard the outraged roars of his would-be-cooks. He shook his head, "Not that I'm not grateful, but why are you in this country? The stories are right. It is dangerous."

Not that he had room to talk. He frowned as he heard the trolls approach. He took out his flute.

"I will hide us from sight, though I cannot disguise the song," he told her before blowing into his flute, producing a simple tune as he and Aleiia-Serria faded into thin air.

Beren Kiran

Beren relaxed slightly as he heard his wife approach. She was the one thing he had been willing to be completely selfish about. He didn't care how many nobles he offended by marrying her. She understood him and he loved her dearly. It angered him how she was treated by the stuck-up mages of her birth country. It confirmed his suspicions of the other nations. At her words, he smiled slightly.

"She is probably watching the animals. Goddess knows she loves them."

Aleiia-Serria

"You have excellent timing, Princess." The Storyteller said as he dried himself off.
The trolls were soon recovering.
"Not that I am not grateful but why are you in this country. The stories are right, It is dangerous." He said as he took out his flute. Under better circumstances, she would have been overjoyed to see such a sight. He was a skilled singer and story teller. Though she knew not his name. She would be able to see him from her window and listen to his tales and songs while she studied. He was her inspiration to find out more about the world.

"I will hide us from sight, though I cannot disguise the song."
Aleiia nodded and soon he began to play.

Aleiia took ducked down, careful not to bump into anything as she lead them toward the exit of the cave. "Come." She whispered to him. "I am here to find a friend. She was born here, she wanted to learn more but the entrance she took was blocked, I grew worried, so I've come to retrieve her." she said in a hush tone, so not to alert the trolls. Trolls weren't the brightest of world's creature, nor did they have many other natural skills aside from their girth but that didn't mean they were deaf either.

"We should be safe once we are nearest the water." She said and no sooner had she spoke, did she kick a golden platter. The sound resonating throughout the cave and the trolls turned to their direction.

"Fishpaste...."

Aleiia breathed and decided they might cut their losses and run. She grabbed the Storyteller by the arm and darted toward the exit, the trolls clamoring right behind them. The shore was close so Aleiia ran directly toward the water and dove in.

It felt wonderful to be in the water again. Cool, clean water and not the dirty water the trolls were using to cook him in. He smiled happily as he swam with Aleiia. He looked over at his friend.

"Well, then we will have to look for her. Thank you, by the way. I owe you my life, Princess," he told her. He could not help but look at her. She was truly beautiful, like something from one of the stories he loved to tell. He was almost afraid she would fade away like his other illusions.

"Is it Nerine?" he asked curiously.

Aleiia-Serria

Aleiia cursed herself for not removing her clothing, now it would take too long to dry off so she'd have to stay near the water, limiting her search for Nerine.
"Well, then we will have to look for her. Thank you, by the way. I owe you my life, Princess."

Aleiia gave one of her large grins. "Don't bother, You would have done the same for me." She said with a smile, but it fell into melancholy as she thought of Nerine. She wouldn't be out here alone where it not for her.

Not even an hour in Liridale and she was already attacked by trolls.
The wise thing would have been to alert her father but no, Aleiia told Nerine that she'd come with her, aid in her search, Father would call it off completely.
"Is it Nerine."

"Aye," Aleiia sighed.
"She would not be here alone where it not for me but that stupid Ordovician...Meh. No matter. we must find Nerine." She said and then a thought struck her.

"What are you doing out here, Storyteller? Have you not been to Liridale before? I've heard it in your tales?"

Ice Kiran, Queen of Elvae

"She is probably watching the animals. Goddess knows she loves them." Ice nodded at his words as she started down the front steps slowly. She owed a visit to the animals herself, it had been quite some time since she had seen them last. She stopped just a few steps before the bottom and turned to look up at Beren.

"We will ride out at dusk if she does not return, yes?" She asked. She didn't want to go a sleepless night because their daughter had not returned home, nor did she want to have to worry about her daughter in the dark forest lit only by moonlight. She watched him as she waited for a response, but continued down the steps in a backwards motion. For now, she would roam the palace, in awaiting her daughter's return. A visit to the animals could wait a little longer, although she aspired to see them greatly.

Katrin Bade, Queen of Arvale

Katrin had been roaming the gardens when she had heard news of an arrival of Sir Demetri. She had made her way to the front of the castle in what seemed to be the nick of time. She saw her husband standing before Demetri and what looked to be a girl from the same realm that Demetri had come from. "What has happened? Where did she come from? Why did you bring her here?" Her husband had spoken as Katrin approached to stand along side him.

She had arrived in just enough time to hear Demetri's explanation. "Well, A portal opened just like when I came through, She came from where I come from. OtherWorld as you called it and I brought her here because as you can see she's human. In order to keep her safe, Nieve, thought it would be best if she said here, in Aravale, she'd blend in better, just as I did." Katrin let out a small sigh as she glanced at her husband. She was okay with new guests, and always welcomed them. But the worry of what they were capable of causing had always crossed her mind. "Bigger probelm though, Nieve says there may be more, possibly three more. They'll be human and the portal hasn't closed." Demetri said, still holding on to the girl. "I think that about covers it." Katrin let out a heavy sigh.

"How is this happening? I thought the portal was safe after you? The could be in grave danger… or even, they could be dangerous." Katrin frowned as all possibilities started to cross her mind. She turned towards Theordred. "What if more keep coming?" She asked, her voice now full of worry as her hands unconsciously tangled together in front of her.

Kabal Fear

Kabal's eyes narrowed slightly as Lucius spoke to him. A place? Even for him? That was a strange thing to say... But if someone with as much confidence as the self-proclaimed leader of Liridale said it, it had to be true. So Kabal quietly accepted that he had a place. As Lucius continued, however, Kabal found himself becoming somewhat more interested. Had Lucius been watching him as well?

Kabal couldn't shake the question in his mind. Where had Lucius gotten all of his information? Kabal didn't usually go around tell his story to random passers by, so the only way Lucius could've gotten a hold of such old information was by happening upon it through some oddity. Kabal smiled slightly, closing his eyes as Lucius continued to speak. He was praising him? How very strange.

A small sound caught the pixie off guard, causing his eyes to snap open as a slight growl came from his throat. There was someone else here. As this new being approached, Kabal began to look him over. He sighed a little. He had seen this assassin around Liridale before. Truly a strange creature at best. Kabal had no words for describing the assassin aside from "odd" or "strange". Truthfully, he held a slight interest in the assassin, mostly because he was mysterious. Kabal smirked darkly as the assassin spoke.

"Master who is this?"

Kabal's eyes narrowed in amusement. Perhaps he was stealthier than he knew. Most of the citizens of Liridale didn't seem to know of his habitual stalking of their daily habits. That or they just didn't care. Perhaps they knew that Kabal wasn't worth the time it took to tell the pixie to stop staring... A small laugh came from Kabal's throat without him thinking. It was then something else caught his interest.

"I feel the great light again my lord."

The great light? Kabal's eyes widened slightly. This rang a bell, if only so slightly. Lucius voice interuptted his thoughts with a slight reminder of what exactly he should be thinking about.

"We've been over this, Patience, it's the information first, THEN any questions. Directive then inquisitive. You sound like you never went to school otherwise."

Kabal filed this thought away for later. He may need this information... Then again, he'd probably forget before too long. What was that splashing sound...? Running water...?

"Kabal, this is Patience, one of my assassins, Patience, Kabal, the Pixie I was planning on hiring on as a Dragon."

Kabal smirked and reached out a bloody hand. He didn't truly expect the assassin to shake, but it was considered polite to attempt. He opened his mouth to say something, but no sound came out. Odd. He would just have to accept that this wasn't something he was good at either. He took his hand away without really giving Patience the time to shake it. It was then Kabal realized he hand just been referred to as a dragon. He put one hand to his horns and rubbed them slightly. He was almost positive Lucius had called him a pixie earlier... Was he a dragon...? That might be somewhat more fitting... But could he turn into a dragon...? And that sound... What was it?

"A second-in-command, someone I give tasks I want done, the guy who gets said stuff done? But I'm getting distracted, you said a light, can you be more specific? The job can't be considered if I lack understanding of it."

"Second-in-command?" Kabal's voice came out very low. Was he really...? He scratched his arm and looked to the ground. Lucius knew better than he did... Perhaps he could succeed in finishing tasks if Lucius told him to. His eyes suddenly flashed up at the mention of the light again. This time, he remembered.

"The light? I have some recollection of a certain 'light' that may be linked to a certain time and place... Event..." An unnerving grin came to his face as he began to recall more details. "A certain... Person." He looked to Patience with a somewhat less lazy stare. This might be a good chance.

"I would be more than happy to investigate. I remember a good deal about this light. Beside, I fear for your safety being that neither of you are particularly... Light yourselves." With this comment, Kabal created a small flash of light in his hand, just for the emphasis. It was one of the few things he could do, so he felt that he might as well show them what he meant. Pixies, while pranksters, where not usually considered 'evil'. Despite his unnerving look, he might be able to figure out more about what this light had in store without getting caught.

Of course, he could care less about the job itself. He more just wanted the chance to observe. This light was interesting. Something new, or at least something that didn't happen often. Kabal's eyes went to Lucius. There was still that sound. Water..? He swore something in the nature felt out of place... Perhaps it was just the fairy in him hating Liridale. Now he had to know... He let out a breath of laughing gas. If there was an unexpected laughing, at least it would explain the sound.

"I apologize for this." His voice was rough. He still hadn't gotten used to speaking. He created quite a bit more laughing gas; starting to snicker a bit himself.

Demetri Saunders.

Just as Demetri was speaking, the Queen arrived. Demetri gave her a gentle bow of the head. "How is this happening. I thought the portal was safe after you? They could be in grave danger...or even they could be dangerous." She said. "The portal-" The Queen turned to her husband and Demetri sighed. "What if more keep coming."

"The portal closed after I entered the last time, believe me, I know. So far, the girl doesn't seem dangerous and by my guess, never been in a fight because she's been out for a while, my guess the fall did a number on her." He said and recalled his fall to this place. It was like Alice falling to Wonderland. It seemed endless but once he hit the ground he stayed conscious. This girl did not. "You needn't worry Mi'lady. Nieve and Con'Ken were there, chances are, Nieve left Con'Ken there to keep an eye on the portal. If they are dangerous, they'll have a helluva a time, fighting that guy." He said with a slant grin and a chuckle.

"The girl can stay with me for now, Once she wakes then we can figure out what's going on and precede from there?" He said, Atreyu shifting some, causing Demetri to grasp the reins a little. "How's that sound?" He asked them both.

The pretty mermaid girl still hid herself behind the rock. She had a slight fear of the trolls said to be lurking in the Kingdom of Liridale who are said to feed mercilessly on the flesh of her people. Though, at the current moment, she wasn't sure of just who her people were. She had, after all, been born in this world. She lived in it's icy cold waters for several years of her life, but it was such a blurr to her. The only things she could remember was how everything underneath the water was dead, including the coral, and there were always ice patches glittering on the surface of the water in uneven chunks. Some places had it, some did not. Nerine had often wondered if her memories of this place died with age, or by force. His Magesty of Atlantia tried many a time to wipe any desire from his nearly adopted daughter to visit this evil place again, clearly to no avail. She was not sure if he had put some kind of spell on her mind to remove any good memories of this world she had been born into.

In any case, Nerine could still hear talking above her in the darkness. Even with her dark-vision, she still could not make the figures out. She saw horns and wings on one, flowing fabric on another, and a lecherous voice on the third. In that moment, she was not sure if these people, if one could call them that, were the very trolls she had heard the tales of. Curiosity would get the best of her, as usual. The mermaid decided she was too far from their spot. She surveyed the area silently and saw another, slightly smaller rock than the one she currently hid behind, several leagues away from her. She dipped under the water, a soft "plunk" noise was made when she submerged herself, and she swam in the cold, dark water over to the rock, closer to the voices above still cloaked in darkness.

Maedwen looked up at her elven blood-brother and held her hand up in protest. It was shaking with fear, but she did not wish for bloodshed in a field such as this. She did not wish to remember her first time so far beyond the walls of Elvae to be stained with crimson.
"Van ndu, Badhorn. Ta naa nelin su sina edan anta tanya eller naa neh irm nae cron amin." (Stand down, Badhorn. It is clear from this man's face that there is no desire to harm me.)T
The princess stands and looks upon the young man who walks away with a sadness, nay, rejection about his aura. Her peculiar blue eyes are fixated upon him.
"Human Mage." Maedwen calls, "We seem to have similarities in our pasts. Most of the kingdoms look upon us with distaste and hatred as well." She pauses and a very slight smile lit her face, "I do not wish you to retreat me." Maedwen walks over to Felix, then pauses, turning back to Badhorn.
"Cael atara ent atar tanar llie nae teshuel amin n'alaquel?" (Have mother and father send you to take me back?)

Katrin Bade, Queen of Arvale

Katrin listened carefully as Demetri explained the girl's fall. She glanced at the unconscious one multiple times as Demetri spoke, not liking the idea of more humans falling through the portal. "You needn't worry Mi'lady. Nieve and Con'Ken were there, chances are, Nieve left Con'Ken there to keep an eye on the portal. If they are dangerous, they'll have a helluva a time, fighting that guy." The news was slightly comforting, but she didn't find laughter from it.

She was rather nervous about the whole thing. As her thoughts drifted, she glanced at her husband for a moment before looking back at the pair and the horse. "The girl can stay with me for now, Once she wakes then we can figure out what's going on and precede from there?" Katrin took a moment to think about it, deciding that she would make some sort of decision and if her husband disagreed, then of course it would change.

"As soon as she wakes." Katrin said after a moment, her eyes hard on Demetri.

Con'ken

Con'ken smiled and glad the night covered his blushing skin. He bowed as Nieve transformed and took off into the wind. Con'ken smiled and stared up into the light. "Come what may I will not allow anyone to threaten that other world." He took his shirt off and tied it to a tree near the clearing. He started stretching and then attempted to hide waiting for ill or good.

King of Aravale

Theodred listened to the explanation and found comfort in his wife's presence. He stood there quiet listening trying to process the whole situation. He didn't understand why was this happening and why so close to his kingdom. As the conversation progressed he realized he was being awkward and oddly quiet. He turned around looking around thinking about how many rooms they had open in the castle. "Yes I agree my dear. Demetri keep the girl with you but the moment she wakes even it been when moon is highest you bring her here." He turned towards his wife. "Charlotte seems to have gone to market. She was wearing her new dress with her leather riding boots."

Badhron Halerider

He lowered his weapon by her orders "Sai eithel seldi(Very well princess)" He pulled the arrow from the string and placed it back in his quiver. He looked to the human "I apologize but you see she is our princess. I meant no offense." He turned to his princess "Neh Amin nae soor i' edan eshaal i' ravan. Amin cael n' wanwa nae i' benerel deshu tella quanta teu.( No I was track the man through the forest. I have not gone to the city after last full moon.)" He shrugged at her.

Patience

He let his thoughts cloud his mouth once more. He stood before the two of them. He bowed as he was introduced to Kabal. Kabal then began to speak about the light and ending by summoning a small orb of light in his hand. Patience noticed the skills though he figured Kabal might be in the wrong place. he waited for Kabal to finish and then spoke his peace. "The light seems akin to the one the boy used many years ago." He new that this might be interesting to his master and if it wasn't then at least he now knew. He giggled a bit which was a unknown feeling to him. "What is this?" He perked his ears a bit and smiled under his cloak as he felt someone else hearing a change. It could have been a frog or another stupid troll but he felt it was not. He choose to not mention it as it seemed insignificant.

Emeror Dredenthin

Emeror sat outside the palace of Morinae. He knew that Nieve had left as he walked up to give his report of his patrol. He sighed "She does this all the time. She is a very busy woman." He laughed to himself and read over his report one more time. He sat on the stairs summoning blades and then banishing them. It was quite a wonderful day so he had no problem waiting for her.

Etruscan was seated on his throne, a solid seat of smooth white coral inlaid with silver. He was currently meeting with each of the barons individually. Some had requests, others merely required to update events since their last visit. The one he was currently speaking to had requested military assistance in dealing with a pod of Makara that had killed three people so far, one of whom was a child. Makara were carnivorous creatures who loved fresh meat. Their heads were that of crocodiles, and their bodies were like a serpent's. Normally they hunted other fish, but every once in a while, they would wander by a villiage and cause trouble. sometimes the people in the area could handle the problem themselves, but other times, they required some professional assistance. Etruscan himself was even known for killing Makara when a pod came by the capitol.

Nodding in understanding, he spoke. "You have tried to deal with them yourselves?"

"We have attempted, but they are too fast. They fear out numbers and flee when we hunt them down. they wait until we give up and break apart to our homes, then they attack us individually. although there have only been three deaths, there have been eight casualties."

"Very well." the king decided. "As they pose too great a threat to you, I will send twenty of my guards, and five of my Sorcerers." He despised helping the people with every little problem. To him, if they could take care of it on their own, they should not bother him about it. but something like this which was out of their hands, he was more than happy to assist them with. His guards were all exceptionally fast, and they would be armed with modified crossbows designed for underwater use -just one of the many advantages of trading with the surface was learning how to use new technology his people would never have otherwise- and His sorcerers could move far more swiftly than any other regular merman, as well as that they were well practiced in using magic to attack from afar. Together, this team should make short work of the Makara.

"Thank you, my King." the Baron said, as he bowed before swimming away. Next, two guards approached the throne. Etruscan knew something was wrong. He still had three barons to see which took precedence over anything other than emergencies.
The bowed their heads respectfully, while the senior soldier spoke, "Proteus," he addressed Etruscan using his most formal title. This was definitely bad news.

"Speak." The king commanded.

"My King, Princess Aleiia has escaped her guards again."

Etruscan let out a long sigh of frustration. "When did this happen?"

"We only just discovered her absence."

He gritted his teeth, this was a sensitive matter. He had just commanded 20 of his soldiers to protect a villiage, so if he sent any more than that for this matter, some would take it as him caring for his daughter more than the province in trouble. Granted, this was true, but what father would not tear the earth asunder for the sake of his child? Taking a deep breath, suppressing his anger at the guards for losing his daughter, he spoke as calmly as he could. "It will be your responsibility to find her. I do not care how you do it, but once you find her bring her back to me safely. Is that understood?"

"Yes, my King."

"Go."

Katrin Bade, Queen of Arvale

"Charlotte seems to have gone to market. She was wearing her new dress with her leather riding boots." The news that came from her husband left her nodding absentmindedly. Until she thought about it even further. "Alone? When did she leave?" She asked, as she turned towards her husband, her eyes studying his. There was a moment where she quickly glanced over to the horizon to try and figure the time. "Did you give her curfew?" She asked, knowing that even if Katrin herself gave curfew, there would be no punishment for being late other than the feeling of guilt for making Katrin worry so much.

Era Kodes, Sorceress of Dunmarr
After wandering the market for some time, Era made her way just outside of the kingdom's walls for a walk in the forest. It was then that she had noticed the large light in the sky, the one she had seen when Demetri had came to the realm. She frowned a little, wondering what it was doing there once again. Toying with a bit of purple flame in her hand, tossing it about she stared at it for a while. Wondering what the portal brought this time, she was sure word would spread as soon as something came into the realm.

Keiren Ogygia

"What are you doing out here, Storyteller? Have you not been to Liridale before? I've heard it in your tales?"

Keiren smiled at Aleiia sheepishly. He shook his head, "Tales get around. I heard those stories from another storyteller who most likely heard it from another. I wanted to see this land for myself. It's.... A lot like the tales but worse if you can imagine it."

He followed after the princess as they traveled through the caves. Where could Nerine be. To lighten the mood, he smiled at his companion.

"You can call me Keiren, by the way."

Beren Kiran

"We will ride out at dusk if she does not return, yes?"

"Yes. We shall," Beren told her. He listened to his wife's footsteps fade as he allowed himself to lose himself in his thoughts. Relations between the other kingdoms were deteriorating. True, they had always been fragile, but now, it would only take a small spark to light the fires of war.

Demetri Saunders.

Demetri nodded to the King. "As you wish." He said and with nod, he tugged of the reins, Atreyu whinnied before turning and soon they were off toward Demetri's cottage.

Once there, Demetri dismounted and carried the girl into the house, he lay her on the couch where he covered her in a warm blanket after removing his cloak and hung it up beside the door. He then went outside and put Atreyu back in the stables before returning to the house.
He removed his sword and sachel and stretched with a yawn. He was tired but at the same time, he needed to wait for the girl to awaken. He was glad she was able to stay here. Atleast he could ask her some questions before the King and Queen could. Not that he was hiding anything, it just had been a long time since he could really relate to anyone. Even the humans here weren't exactly the same as him.

He sighed and collapsed into the chair beside the couch and before long he was out cold.

Nieve, The Lady of the Forest.
Nieve reformed just at the enterance of the Palace of Morinae where Emeror sat. She smiled warmly. "Emeror, " She greeted, striding toward him and up the stairs. "Come," She
told him, gesturing for him to follow behind her as she entered. The large oak doors of the palace opened as she approached and lead into a grand hall in which's floors were made of polished stone, the walls of the strong oak with moss and vines draping down from the ceiling. "I assume all is well?" She asked "Aside from the mysterious light, that you are surely about to report to me?" She said with a small thin lipped smile.

Aleiia-Serria

Aleiia nodded. "Ah, I see. Understandable" She said and then smiled when he spoke his name. "Ah, you may call me, Aleiia." She said with a large grin. "or Serria, if you prefer." she said with a giggle. "They are both my name." She said and shivered a bit. The water here was colder here then in Atlantia. She wished she could be more excited about being with her inspiration but her best friend was missing. That was her main focus. She looked around and sighed. "Where do you think the Merfolk of Liridale would dwell?" She asked him, with a frown. "Maybe she'll be there?"

I nodded as Kabal told me what he knew of the "light", which Patience supplemented. I also couldn't help but smile when Kabal joked about us not exactly being "light". I take pride when people call me dark, it's my JOB.
"Of course, the boy. Funny how he should show up now. Alright, Kabal!" I said, turning to him and straightening up. "Your first job, call it a test, is to learn more about this boy. I have a good network of spies, but none of them can induce hypnosis. Utilize your rather unique skillset to find him, but do not let him know I'm planning things." I then turned to Patience, my tone the commanding kind you would find leading an army, "Patience, you run crowd control. Go outside Liridale, see if there are any resistances building up against me in the boy's name, besides the ones I have in the town squares to keep people jaded, of course. And then, if you would kindly, snuff them out." Finally, I stretched, tapped my staff to the ground, and opened a shadow portal between the mermaid nearby and myself, yanked her through the water by the arm, closed the portal, then had the blade part of my staff spring out and come to rest a quarter-inch from her carotid artery, calling forth my "demon" voice, really just a simple echo spell and a voice deepening one.

"AND I WILL QUESTION THE MERMAID AS TO WHY SHE IS TRESPASSING ON A PRIVATE CONVERSATION."

HORNED ONE'S BALLS, I'd forgotten how much my throat hurts after I talk in Thriller font! I already knew she was probably just curious about Liridale and as harmless as a fly to me, but hey, once people hear you've gone soft, people begin to disobey you, and then it's nothing but work, work, work all the ti- I'd seen that blond haired mermaid before...

In forest there was another flash of blue light, no one as around to see the girl suddenly appear in the sky and fall towards the ground unconscious.
Small forest animals quickly began to gather around the girl's body, curious about the flash of light. As the animals got closer they realise the girl didnt smell anything like the others that lived in the forest and was emitting a strange aura of blues and blacks.
A young ferret slowly approached the young girl as the other animals watch on in apprehension. It quickly jumped onto the girls stomach causing a gasp of pain to escape her mouth as she was scratched by the animal's sharp claws.
Slowly waking up she revealed two sapphire blue eyes as she stared down her body at the ferret who stared back at her, eyes half lidded from sleep she scanned the rest of the animals surrounding her body, he brain too groggy to pick up on her situation.
"Maybe we should try to get her help, She could be injured!" A squeaky voice cried in concern which brought the girls tired eyes to a small robin which hopped from foot to foot as some of the other animals mummers in agreement.
"I can understand you..." The girl rasped out, her throat hurt from sleep and dehydration. The sentence wasnt meant as a question, simply a statement of a fact. The ferret on her stomach stared up at the girl with pitch black eyes, before it ran up along her body, positioning itself right in front of her face, gently bumping their noses together in a for of comfort.
"Victor! Maybe you shouldn't do tha-" An older ferret cried before she was cut off by the gasps the exited the animals, including her own.
They watched in shock as the girls pretty blue eyes bleed into the pitch black eyes of a ferret for a second before bleeding back into their usual blue. Her eyes began to close as the girl began to lose consciousness again.
"Hay, don't go to sleep again! What's you name?!" Victor asked, bumping the girls face again in hopes of waking her up.
"R-Roxy... My n-name is Roxy..." The girl mumbled out tiredly before finally succumbing to sleep.
"OKAY PEOPLE! WE NEED TO GET ROXY HELP! NOW MOVE OUT!!!" The young ferret screamed at the other animals and watched them scatter.
Glancing back at the blue haired girl, Victor took off in the direction of Morinae, in hopes tha the lady of the forest might be able to help the girl, depending on whether the girl stayed where the animals had left her, but this through never crossed the concerned ferret Victor.

Theodred, The King of Aravale

He turned around after Demetri had left and looked at his wife. He went to say I love you when she spoke at him about the freedom of Charlotte. "I did not believe it necessary to send guard with the girl. She always expressed that she was only going out for a bit so I thought it unneeded to set a curfew. Also look at this way no one in our kingdom wants her to come to harm I'm sure." He moved in close to his wife and pulls her hand into his own. He then presses her hand to his lips and kisses them softly. "Smile dear. You frown to much."

Con'ken

Con'ken had been waiting hiding in woods for either something to come through the portal or someone attempt to breach the portal from their side. He waited for a bit wondering about what to expect. Then a light flashed a bit away from where he was. "Shit I thought they would come from this portal."

He took off into the woods heading to the area the light came from. He witnessed the girl speak to the ferret and then the creature take off towards Morinae. Con'ken walked into the clearing and approached the girl. He sniffed at her and thought to himself yes that's a outlander. He made sure he didn't come in to fast but not approaching silently. He waited till he was sure she could see him 'Greetings Traveler. My name is Con'Ken I am a guard of The Lady of the Forest. You ferret friend is running toward our kingdom. Do you need help?" He realized he was treating his movement more like how you would approach a scared animal but he had no idea what to expect.

Emeror Dredenthin

Emeror looked up a Nieve "Always the fantastical entrance mi'lady" He laughed a bit and stood up stretching his back from sitting there. He followed her in looking over the walls and over the stone floor. "Yes sadly the only thing I had to report was the light which I figured you had already investigated. Everything else seems fine though. It also seems the people of Atlantia have been busy crossing over to Liridale at least three." He looked over the castle and the looked at her "So where's Con'ken?"

Patience

Patience bowed and began walking toward the outside perimeter of Liridale. He kept his eyes down and released the light from his thoughts. After walking for a little bit he came to the edge and began moving his hands in pattern. His eyes turned white and the words coming from his mouth seemed not his own. After a few minutes a dozen minor shadow demons stood before him. "Spread out and report to me if you see anything." Each of them went in a different direction. Patience sat down on a fallen tree and waited.

Katrin Bade, Queen of Arvale

Katrin couldn't help but to feel worried. It was in her nature when she didn't know what was going on. Especially when it just so happened to involve her daughter. But there was something about the man that she married that made those things disappear. "I did not believe it necessary to send guard with the girl. She always expressed that she was only going out for a bit so I thought it unneeded to set a curfew. Also look at this way no one in our kingdom wants her to come to harm I'm sure." Katrin nodded at his words, as she let him pick up her hand in his.

"You know how I get, Theodred." She started, it wasn't a harsh statement or one that meant to disregard everything he had just said, but rather a guilty apology. As he kissed her hand, though, Katrin fell silent. Her eyes closed briefly and a small smile tugged at her lips.

"Smile dear. You frown to much." At the comment, Katrin's smile tugged even further, before she moved in close enough to cup the side of his face with one of her hands, and kiss the free cheek. She stayed in the closeness, only to whisper into his ear.

"For you." Were the only words she spoke before she started to move away, enough to stand straight again. She had to move onto the tips of her toes to whisper into his ear. Her hand slid down his face, resting on his chest, her eyes reaching to meet his.

Nieve, the Lady of the Forest

"Always the fantasical entrance, Mi'lady."Emeror teased and Nieve just grinned. He was like a brother to her, and a great listener, especially during those dark years after the Lord of the Forest's untimely death.
"Yes sadly the only thing I had to report was the light which I figured you had already investigated. Everything else seems fine though. It also seems the people of Atlantia have been busy crossing over to Liridale at least three.
Nieve gave Emeror a gentle frown, just as she took a seat in her throne. "Curious." She said, why would Merfolk of Atlantia enter Liridale, it wasn't as if the waters were warm there. "Where is Con'Ken.." Emeror asked, breaking Nieve from her thoughts. "He is watching over the portal, a girl entered through there, same as Demetri, thankfully the only one to reach it before us, was Demetri himself, He is keeping the girl with him, I suspect about three more OtherWorlders to enter through before the portal closes." Nieve said and just then a same ferret came darting toward her. Nieve rose and met the creature halfway, She reached down with a hand to allow the creature to crawl up her arm. "Victor, you seem distraught, How may I be of assistance?" She asked the creature as she ran her free hand over it's pelt in hopes to keeping it calmed.

She stared up at the tall man as he approached her. He was slow and looked cautious and she could feel the adrenaline begin to rush through her body as he got closer and closer.
"Greetings Traveler. My name is Con'Ken I am a guard of The Lady of the Forest. You ferret friend is running toward our kingdom. Do you need help?" He said. His voice was slightly gruff and deep.
Looking around she saw that the animals that had been with her had gone, leaving her alone with this man. He did not seem threatening in anyway but than again...
"Why are you so tall and Hairy? You know you look really scary from where I am sitting." She felt herself blurt out unconsciously before she covered her mouth with both her hands, eyes widening a tad.
Why, oh why couldn't she hold her tongue for once! Just once when a big scary man was standing right in front of h... "Wait, who is the Lady of the forest? Kabal Fear

Kabal's eyes widened slightly as he heard Lucius agree to send him off on a "test". He grinned slightly; feeling the first real excitement he had in years. He would get to investigate the light? Alone? He laughed darkly under his breath. This was going to be quite interesting.

Kabal nodded his head slowly, dropping the grin. No reason to smile for too long. He glanced Lucius over and slowly spoke. "You can help me get there, right? Walking would take quite some time... It's not something I would like to do if possible." About that time, the sound of the water became somewhat more clear. Kabal's fingers twitched as he glanced around. This was far too unnerving for his tastes. Soon Patience had left to carry out the orders he was given by Lucius. This left Kabal in an even stranger state. Should he leave? Should he wait?

Of course, when Lucius pulled a blonde mermaid out of portal of shadow with quite the loud exclamation of anger, Kabal's interest in the present was renewed. Had this mermaid been the source of the sounds? He had never seen a mermaid before... He had heard plenty of stories, but even in his long life, Kabal had never gotten to see one of the strange creatures. He smiled only slightly before he heard his new master speak up again.

"Nerine?"

So Lucius knew this mermaid? If that were the case, Kabal would probably need to attempt to be polite... He reached a hand up and pulled it through his hair. He hoped Lucius didn't want him to look more presentable... It was difficult to look anything but scrawny and weak for the bloody pixie.

"Greetings to you, Nerine... I'm assuming that's what you are called at least..." Kabal spoke in his still rough voice, "Were you the one making that sound earlier...? I had begun to question my sanity." This time Kabal smiled only to be polite. His interest was lost quickly, now back to the idea of leaving. He wondered if he could convince Lucius to use one of those Shadow Portals to send him to Morinae... Though, that may be the wrong area if he needed to search for the boy.

Faramir Elessar and Eldeen the Unicorn

Faramir sat in his quiet and small cathedral built in the heart of the Pale Crystal Hallow. It was the home of the Unicorn keepers. The Hallow was a magical place bathe in moonlight eternally. It is said that the moon’s shine is always visible via a magical portal in the sky sustained by the unicorns. Pale Crystal Hallow remained quiet and compared to the usual comings and goings in the rest of the Morinae kingdom. Faramir stood from his seat and headed outside where he could stand in the light of the moon. He knelt down and clasped his hands together in prayer.

Looking up to the moonlight Faramir prayed gently, ”Oh Great Moon which shines it’s wisdom down from the heavens, bring clarity to this clouded vision of mine. A light shine down and a connection was made that had long since occurred in this realm. What would you have the Unicorns and their Keepers do? Oh Great Moon impart your wisdom.” As Faramir prayed the moonlight began to bean down with a soft blue intensity. After a few moments, Faramir stood to his feet and the moonlight returned to its normal degree of brightness. “I understand.” Faramir said calmly as he looked to see Eldeen standing nearby.

Eldeen’s mane glistened and sparkled with the moonlight and his graceful horn shined as if made of crystal. “What has the Great Moon told you Prince Faramir?” Eldeen asked Faramir as he communicated telepathically.

Faramir looked somewhat stoically as he replied, “We must see the Lady of the Wood. It has been sometime since we have spoken with one another. It seems we must leave our beloved Pale Crystal Hallow. Please tell the other Keepers of our imminent travel plans, so that they are prepared to protect the Hallow from trespassers in our absence.” With that Eldeen departed to prep the Keepers of the Hallow.

Within a few hours, Faramir and Eldeen departed from the Pale Crystal Hallow and entered Morinae proper. The sun shined down through the trees gently and the birds sang sweetly. Faramir smiled as he gazed at the trees and the sunlight. “It has been a while, Oh Dear Friend of the Great Moon.” Faramir said as he spoke to the sun itself. It had been a long while since Faramir had stepped out into the sunlight, and yet it did not bother him nor did his eye need adjusting to the chance in light. He and Eldeen walked through the forest and into the palace area. Upon reaching his destination he and Eldeen noticed a man of seemingly notable strength. Faramir also noticed a young woman who appeared a bit flustered. Nevertheless, Faramir spoke to the guardian of the palace, “Greetings from Pale Crystal Hallow. I am Faramir Elessar, Prince of the Unicorn Keepers. This is Eldeen Lord of Unicorns. Please grant me audience with the Lady of the Wood, for I much desired to speak with her.” Faramir said as he bowed in a manner particular to Unicorn Keepers.

Theodred smiled deeply as she said "For you." He looked back into her eyes staring at her. He wrapped his arms around her, pulled her in and kissed her forehead. Casper walked to the outside of town to a shady part of it. He had a contact to meet and job to fulfill. Casper walked up on the hooded man. "What do you have for me today?" The hooded man pulled out a scroll with a locked case around it. He handed it to Casper and turned away from him leaving only Casper and the scroll. Casper walked back to his house and used his key to open the scroll case. He looked over the scroll and realized how big this job was. "So I'm to steal from Dunmarr looking for a particular staff. May be in the Sorceress's house? Well I have my work cut out for me." He took a quick nap and gathered his equipment. He left for the Kingdom of Dunmarr hoping to go through this smoothly.

Con'Ken

Con'ken laughed at the girls comment about his body. "I'm a werewolf but you have nothing to fear miss." He kneeled next to her reaching out a hand to her. He looked confused about her comment. "The Lady of the Forest is a beautiful woman who protects the kingdom of Morinae and the surrounding area. I think it would be best if I take you to her."

Con'Ken realized the were not only and turned to meet this keeper eye to eye. "Greetings Faramir. I am Con'Ken guard of Morinae. If you truly wish to see The Lady then go this way" Points to the east. "She should be there in the castle."

Emeror Dredenthin

Emeror looks over the ferret and then looked through the door. His eyes flashed the dark black as he looked out over the woods. "His path seems to come from the west Nieve." He created a copy of himself and had a small conversation with himself. The clone ran off into the woods but not to the west but towards Liridale. "Lady I apologize acting with out orders but my shadow is scouting. I felt a strong shadow magic ripple from Liridale."

Re: The Book of Fables

Greetings from Nepal! :D
This is my first time with a computer before me since I left. o.o
It's actually a little weird typing... must fix that...
But anywho, I'll be back home on the 20th, so the gears will start turning again. >:D

Orduk, I think you sent me a message on chat, but the internet is too slow for me to see it. T.T
But I'll be replying to you some time today, probably after lunch time since our group is going to the University to learn about native plants all morning. :3

Re: The Book of Fables

I'm still willing to continue as well. Is personaU still continuing? I hope I'm not holding anyone up.

Re: The Book of Fables

Syor not posting. I've been a little busy and I forgot to bookmark this role play. I will soon.

Re: The Book of Fables

I'll be back to posting after new year it's a real pain to post via phone ._.

Re: The Book of Fables

I'm still here and i'll give Malice a day or two to respond about the fires before I jump on it. Holidays are killers for roleplays just hope everyone comes back soon :)

Re: The Book of Fables

I'm still around... Not much has been happening, but I'm here none the less! I've just been kinda twirling a stick and waiting for everyone to reappear.

Edit: And now something has happened! Sorry everyone in Morinae... Kabal's out to cause a forest fire.

Re: The Book of Fables

I've gotten pretty much settled into my new house now. So I can resume my Roleplay activities~ is everyone else okay to continue?

Re: The Book of Fables

In that case, Nerdette, I apologize. I assumed you had access to a computer.

Re: The Book of Fables

Alright, I'm back from the holidays, ready to post. Hope you all had a great one! Can't wait to keep interacting with you all.

Re: The Book of Fables

I have a severe lag on my phone and it takes FOREVER to type long things. So no, I couldn't type a post for her.

Re: The Book of Fables

hey guys I'm in the process of moving and my internet service has been shifted to the new house. Since I'm still not done moving things back and fourth, I may not be able to post until Wednesday or Thursday. I'll try my best to post sooner rather than later. Sorry for the inconvenience!! And also Have a happy holiday everyone!

Re: The Book of Fables

Depends on the writer, Malice. I'm actually more capable of making my characters say something than I am at making myself do the same. I just feel slightly miffed that she was waiting for Kabal to speak, and then once he does, is nowhere to be found until a few days after when she says she's not going to be on for a while. A baseless excuse, I know, but it's simply how I feel about the situation.

Re: The Book of Fables

I am so sorry, but I have been extremely busy lately and will continue to be for the next several weeks. Unfortunately, I am having to drop some RPs because of that. I am sorry about this.

Also, Nerdette, I am not dropping the other one of yours I joined. just this one. I am only cutting down on how many I have, not quitting the site completely.

Re: The Book of Fables

I finally posted for Aranhil!! Now I shall write for my other characters, my apologies for the delayed response time and for double posting, in the event that no one posts before I do again.

Re: The Book of Fables

Hey Thundergod, Life happens okay and a small message in OOC is alot faster then to type out a well thought out post IC, give her a break okay.

Re: The Book of Fables

@masato22 Yeah, seems like forever.

@RPGNerdette And now Lucius can't do anything until Tuesday, leaving him in a state of suspended animation, along with Kabal. You had the time to type that warning, but no time to type a response for Nerine?

Re: The Book of Fables

Hey guys, so I won't be around this weekend until Tuesday cause I am going away. I will be back Tuesday night. Happy Holidays everyone!

Re: The Book of Fables

@Thundergod: It's been a while since the heroes RP. How've you been?

@Malice: Thanks!! Virtual hugs

sorry for the delay guys, I started to type up a reply post earlier but I took some cold medicine and it really put me down for the count. I'm up now and resumed my typing.

Re: The Book of Fables

No problem, and yes, it's nice to be rping with you too ^-^ *huggles*
