Leyawin de Geldor

"The bonds between this world and its inhabitants are absolute. I will show you that myself."

0 · 196 views · located in Gar

a character in “The Branded”, as played by Ginko

Description

Name: Leyawin de Geldor

Age: 23 (in human years)

Gender: Male

Race: Elf

Personality: Though Leyawin prides himself as a representative for his race, he is quite peculiar to look at. Being that he is somewhat shorter and tanner than the average elf, he gets quizzical glances from his comrades. Of course, most don’t bring his differences up in conversation due to his tendency to act as if the questioner is crazy. It is unknown whether this is an example of stubbornness or a general lack of observation. Generally, Leyawin is a carefree person. He holds no bigotry towards other races and regards them all with the same level of respect. He holds pride in being a self-proclaimed representative of his race, however, and won’t hesitate to state this. Though he seems to generally lack common sense, he is a good-hearted man and will help if it is at all within his power to do so. This trait has led him to take on various odd jobs for no particular reason…

Appearance: Leyawin stands at about 5’8", making him somewhat short for his species. His skin is also tanner than most of his elf brethren, but this is also a trait he doesn’t seem to notice himself. His hair is a radiant silver color and flows down to about the middle of his back and though usually left alone, is sometimes tied back to decrease annoyance to his face. Despite this, he covers his right eye with his bangs nearly constantly. His eyes are a piercing blue color, similar in hue to the aura that permeates from his hands when casting. His clothing is different… Mostly because of his refusal to wear armor. Being a mage, he wears ash black pants with a red trim and a matching cape. He also often has his forearms bandaged, and has been known to do the same for his torso.

Brand's Appearance: Leyawin’s brand appears across his right eye, which is usually closed and hidden below his hair. It appears to be a form of magic circle with what appears to be runic text scribed around it.

Brand's Effects: Leyawin’s brand amplifies both the duration and power of his magical abilities in addition to a slight increase in his physical durability.

Alternate Form: Leyawin’s alternative form is known as The Wraith. A floating clothe-like apparition, it represents the very essence of magical ability. Dark black, with a piercing light blue aura, The Wraith has the thin frame of a physical body. It’s narrow, jagged fingers are emblazoned with a variety of shining rings. Its eyes are equally as striking, as they match the blue aura that permeates from the being itself. As far as size, this form is much smaller than Leyawin, reigning in at about 3 feet. The reason for the size difference is unknown, but may have something to do with the concentration of magical energies into attacks.

Weapon(s): None (He creates dual wands from ice, however.)

Magic: Ice Manipulation (Cryokenesis)

History: As a member of the Elven race which sided with Sol, Leyawin was raised within a somewhat regal household. His father was a politician of sorts, one of the many diplomats that represent their ancestors decision to side with Sol. His mother spent her time at home, raising Leyawin and his two younger sisters to respect nature in all its forms and to show compassion to all those around them.

Being the eldest son of a regal house among the Elven race allowed Leyawin certain benefits. The most crucial of which being his having a personal tutor in the arcane arts. A raggedy old man who seemed as much as a part of the earth as any nearby plant did. This old man began by attempting to find Leyawin’s magical affinity. Knowing that there are a variety of elements making up the earth, it was important to find the one that Leyawin was best suited to using. Thus his ability to manipulate ice was found. However, there was one problem. Leyawin lacked extensive talent in the arcane. Thus at the age of 13, Leyawin began training the very basics of magical manipulation.

After many years of training Leyawin mastered both the basics and started to better understand his capabilities. However, even after all his training there was one thing Leyawin still lacked: experience. He needed to use his abilities in actual combat or he would never truly master the bond shared between him and ice. Thus, at his father’s request, he was shipped away to join the military of Gar. Though he progressed slowly initially, he began to rise in rank until eventually becoming a private at the age of 23.

It was finally time to grow further. To prove to his race and his country alike that he is indeed powerful… His first mission: To investigate monster sightings.

So begins...

Lucius watched the cart hurtle away down the dirt and gravel path, leaving the soldiers alone on the moors. Lucius had been given the map of the moors by Colonel Sanderson, which was now in his pocket. Lucius removed the map from his pocket and unfolded it. It was a crumpled, A3 piece of papyrus with the layout of the moor drawn on it. There were 4 points marked onto the map, a now deserted hamlet that was slightly to the north, a tarn to the northwest, a valley to the east and a cave to the northeast. Lucius wondered how long it would take to go round them all. It was obvious that their first destination should be the hamlet that had supposedly been destroyed by monsters. But before anything else, he should introduce himself to the group, they would need to work as a team, and wouldn't be able to if they didn't know each other.
"I don't believe that I have introduced myself yet." Lucius announced to the group, "My name is Lucius Silver, son of the late Sebastian Silver. And what about the rest of you? If we're going to be working together, we should know who we're working with."

"Oh for Luna's sake..." the Serpent scowled as he attempted to get the door to budge, but to no avail.
However, after another few seconds he managed to ram the door down with his shoulder. He stepped into the ransacked cottage, surveying the scene that the monsters had left. Blood was spattered everywhere, the furniture was smashed to smithereens and the walls had multiple holes in them. The Serpent inspected the blood, it had separated some time ago. The house had an attic, so it shouldn't be to hard to hide and wait for the soldiers.
"Right you lot, get in the attic and seal the door shut. I'll make sure the soldiers go where they're supposed to go. You four watch out of the window and make sure you're not seen. If they realise it's a trap or see you, knock them out, kidnap one of them and take him or her to the cave. I'll leave them a message so they know what to do. However, I don't want that happening so make sure to monitor their behaviour at all times. And remember, DON'T kill them!"
With that, the Serpent opened the hatch leading to the attic and pulled down the ladder, gesturing for them to climb up.

Having spent the greater portion of his journey to the moor via a cart, Leyawin was more than happy enough to finally arrive at their destination. Stepping off the cart with the unmistakable ache of having sat in one spot for too long, he immediately threw out his arms in a stretch. Following this he began to survey the area. It was quiet, at least… Whether that was a good thing or not had yet to be determined. Monster sightings… the first real mission he was assigned as a soldier for Gar. A short pause followed before one of his comrades spoke. He introduced himself as Lucius, providing a small amount of detail about himself in the process. It was what he said after his introduction that interested Leyawin, however. I suppose he’s right… Leyawin thought. In order to properly function as a group it’d be better to know a bit more about eachother…

“… Leyawin de Geldor of the Geldor Family of Elevar.” He spoke elegantly but without arrogance. After all, he may have pride in his lineage but he was raised to hold equal respect for all creatures.

Annie had jumped off of the cart even before it had come to a full stop, though she landed gracefully and silently on the dirt. She stood cautiously for only a moment before straightening herself. The girl was young, and looked even younger, and this only added to how eager she seemed. Finally, a chance to prove herself, a chance for real adventure! No more dealing with these common street criminals; real monsters.

"A Geldor?" she said, though not harshly. She took a moment to observe the Leyawin and then continued on, "My name's Annie. Nice to meet the team!" she chimed in her high, honey-like voice, seeming untouched by the sheer seriousness and formality of the situation. Not always, but on occasion, there were whispers and unfounded gossip that sometimes accompanied her family name. She did not intend to take that chance and set that off.

She observed the other soldiers with her, her eyes flickering from detail to detail, person to person, taking in their faces. Some of their faces seemed vaguely familiar, as if she had known them long ago, but she knew this couldn't be right. She pulled her bow from her back and held it in her left hand, letting her hand find the position it had been in, so many times before.

Calmly pushing himself off of the cart as it came to a complete stop, taking in the atmosphere gazing at the many people passing distracted by the look of the town he had just arrived in. Reflecting back to when he was assigned to the mission, "killing monsters... just like killing stronger bandits" were the words he spoke to his comanding officer with a grin clasping his hand on the mans shoulder laughing as he departed. But it was for real Leon would be sent with new comrades to finish off a group of monsters sighted, shaking off the feeling as the blond haired man spoke. "My name is Lucius Silver, son of the late Sebastian Silver. And what about the rest of you? If we're going to be working together, we should know who we're working with." I suppose I should introduce myself Leon said to himself but was quickly cut off by Elf when he spoke. "This must be serious" again Leons thoughts flashed, and with the apparince of a Geldor he was alarmed with the severity of the task at hand. Composing his mind while another introduced herself as Annie, dropping all formalities with her tone and speech.

"Well then it is ample time to introduce myself, I am Leon Kenro Parthos. Son of the departed Dracus Parthos." Leon spoke clenching his teeth a bit as he spoke of his fathers name and with a shake of the head he continued "It is nice to meet all of you and may our mission go well." and with a smile he reached his hand out to Leyawin greeting the elf with respect.

Annie's energy seemed to seep into the air; contagious. She fidgeted, shifting her weight from left to right, and then back to left soon after. It was this warmth; she loved the sun. It was probably what made her like this, like her emotions came and went with the wind and the rain and the dirt and the moon. Now and then, it seemed somewhat ill-fitting in this environment.

"Well then... Shall we maybe look around?" she asked her comrades.

They didn't seem to fit each other either. Their hair; tangles and curls of blonde, black, or silver, long or short, slid through the cooling breeze. Their faces, heights, backgrounds, even the way they wore their uniforms, all denoted a ragged band of strangers more than a tight knit group of soldiers. No, communication wasn't there strong suit, it seemed, and as far as being on the same level as each other, they had a long way to go.

She slid her right shoulder out of her uniform overalls, switched her bow hand temporarily, and then slid her left shoulder out as well. The two straps fell to her hips; apparently, as over-sized as the overalls seemed, the slack picked up at the waist, tight enough to keep it there.

It was the hamlet that interested Annie the most.
