Lucius Silver

"I'm not fighting because some power-hungry god tells me to, I'm fighting to protect what I love."

0 · 206 views · located in Gar

a character in “The Branded”, originally authored by Flexar, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Lucius Silver

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Personality: Lucius is somewhat hot-headed and overconfident and believes he is above defeat. However, his confidence is backed up by skill, but not quite as much skill as he thinks he has. Despite his high opinions of himself, he doesn't boast and is a nice person once you get to know him. He is very defensive of his friends and beliefs, and gets particularly touchy when people insult his parents.

Appearance: Lucius is a tall, well-built young man standing 6'3" with clean but messy, fair hair, slightly tanned skin and sea blue eyes that assess every little detail relentlessly. He wears the standard armour of a Garthian soldier, thick, baggy, charcoal grey trousers, a royal blue shirt, steel greaves, gauntlets and shoulder pads that connect his royal blue cape with the emblem of the Garthian military emblazaned upon it in gold, the head of a wolf with two crossed swords behind it, to his light blue breastplate. Lucius' sword is sheathed at his hip in a steel scabbard wrapped in black leather.

Brand's Appearance: Lucius' brand manifests itself as a pitch black tattoo of a kiteshield on the back of his left hand.

Brand's Effects: The brand greatly increases Lucius' physical durability and strength, making him able to withstand devastating blows that not even the strongest of Orcs could take without serious harm. It also mildly amplifies his magical powers.

Alternate Form: Lucius' alternate form is The Sentinel, a giant, Orc-sized, hollow suit of armour. The armour is mostly snow white but is trimmed with gold. The armour is rather jagged in places, helping to delfect blows. It has two greatswords sheathed upon its back, and wields one in each hand. Lucius' armour represents his desire to protect, but the fact he wields another sword as opposed to shield represents his confidence.

Weapon(s): Lucius wields a standard issue longsword for a Garthian soldier.

Magic: Lucius is relatively skilled pyromancer, capable of casting complex pyrokinetic spells, but is more of a swordsman than a mage.

History: Lucius was born into a poor family in Garthia, the capital of Gar. Lucius' mother died giving birth, leaving him with his abusive father who wouldn't stop blaming him for his mother's death. He claimed that Lucius had killed her and Lucius claimed that it was his father's fault for having him. After the constant beatings, Lucius finally snapped. In a rage, flames spewed from his palms, engulfing his father and his home. This left Lucius orphaned, but he had not regretted what he had done in the slightest bit. The authorities never found out that he was responsible.

He was adopted by an ex-general who loved Lucius like the father Lucius had felt he had never had. He taught Lucius how to control and use his "talent" as well as how to wield a sword. Lucius took to both surprisingly well exceding his foster father's expectations.

Lucius' surrogate father passed away when Lucius was 17, leaving him a small fortune, but not one that would last him a lifetime. He enrolled in the military and spent some time as part of the city guard, but was quickly promoted to a soldier. He was soon sent to the Llaregar Moors with 4 other privates to investigate supposed monster sightings. That was when his life with thrown into complete turmoil.

So begins...

Lucius watched the cart hurtle away down the dirt and gravel path, leaving the soldiers alone on the moors. Lucius had been given the map of the moors by Colonel Sanderson, which was now in his pocket. Lucius removed the map from his pocket and unfolded it. It was a crumpled, A3 piece of papyrus with the layout of the moor drawn on it. There were 4 points marked onto the map, a now deserted hamlet that was slightly to the north, a tarn to the northwest, a valley to the east and a cave to the northeast. Lucius wondered how long it would take to go round them all. It was obvious that their first destination should be the hamlet that had supposedly been destroyed by monsters. But before anything else, he should introduce himself to the group, they would need to work as a team, and wouldn't be able to if they didn't know each other.
"I don't believe that I have introduced myself yet." Lucius announced to the group, "My name is Lucius Silver, son of the late Sebastian Silver. And what about the rest of you? If we're going to be working together, we should know who we're working with."

"Oh for Luna's sake..." the Serpent scowled as he attempted to get the door to budge, but to no avail.
However, after another few seconds he managed to ram the door down with his shoulder. He stepped into the ransacked cottage, surveying the scene that the monsters had left. Blood was spattered everywhere, the furniture was smashed to smithereens and the walls had multiple holes in them. The Serpent inspected the blood, it had separated some time ago. The house had an attic, so it shouldn't be to hard to hide and wait for the soldiers.
"Right you lot, get in the attic and seal the door shut. I'll make sure the soldiers go where they're supposed to go. You four watch out of the window and make sure you're not seen. If they realise it's a trap or see you, knock them out, kidnap one of them and take him or her to the cave. I'll leave them a message so they know what to do. However, I don't want that happening so make sure to monitor their behaviour at all times. And remember, DON'T kill them!"
With that, the Serpent opened the hatch leading to the attic and pulled down the ladder, gesturing for them to climb up.

Having spent the greater portion of his journey to the moor via a cart, Leyawin was more than happy enough to finally arrive at their destination. Stepping off the cart with the unmistakable ache of having sat in one spot for too long, he immediately threw out his arms in a stretch. Following this he began to survey the area. It was quiet, at least… Whether that was a good thing or not had yet to be determined. Monster sightings… the first real mission he was assigned as a soldier for Gar. A short pause followed before one of his comrades spoke. He introduced himself as Lucius, providing a small amount of detail about himself in the process. It was what he said after his introduction that interested Leyawin, however. I suppose he’s right… Leyawin thought. In order to properly function as a group it’d be better to know a bit more about eachother…

“… Leyawin de Geldor of the Geldor Family of Elevar.” He spoke elegantly but without arrogance. After all, he may have pride in his lineage but he was raised to hold equal respect for all creatures.

Annie had jumped off of the cart even before it had come to a full stop, though she landed gracefully and silently on the dirt. She stood cautiously for only a moment before straightening herself. The girl was young, and looked even younger, and this only added to how eager she seemed. Finally, a chance to prove herself, a chance for real adventure! No more dealing with these common street criminals; real monsters.

"A Geldor?" she said, though not harshly. She took a moment to observe the Leyawin and then continued on, "My name's Annie. Nice to meet the team!" she chimed in her high, honey-like voice, seeming untouched by the sheer seriousness and formality of the situation. Not always, but on occasion, there were whispers and unfounded gossip that sometimes accompanied her family name. She did not intend to take that chance and set that off.

She observed the other soldiers with her, her eyes flickering from detail to detail, person to person, taking in their faces. Some of their faces seemed vaguely familiar, as if she had known them long ago, but she knew this couldn't be right. She pulled her bow from her back and held it in her left hand, letting her hand find the position it had been in, so many times before.

Calmly pushing himself off of the cart as it came to a complete stop, taking in the atmosphere gazing at the many people passing distracted by the look of the town he had just arrived in. Reflecting back to when he was assigned to the mission, "killing monsters... just like killing stronger bandits" were the words he spoke to his comanding officer with a grin clasping his hand on the mans shoulder laughing as he departed. But it was for real Leon would be sent with new comrades to finish off a group of monsters sighted, shaking off the feeling as the blond haired man spoke. "My name is Lucius Silver, son of the late Sebastian Silver. And what about the rest of you? If we're going to be working together, we should know who we're working with." I suppose I should introduce myself Leon said to himself but was quickly cut off by Elf when he spoke. "This must be serious" again Leons thoughts flashed, and with the apparince of a Geldor he was alarmed with the severity of the task at hand. Composing his mind while another introduced herself as Annie, dropping all formalities with her tone and speech.

"Well then it is ample time to introduce myself, I am Leon Kenro Parthos. Son of the departed Dracus Parthos." Leon spoke clenching his teeth a bit as he spoke of his fathers name and with a shake of the head he continued "It is nice to meet all of you and may our mission go well." and with a smile he reached his hand out to Leyawin greeting the elf with respect.

Annie's energy seemed to seep into the air; contagious. She fidgeted, shifting her weight from left to right, and then back to left soon after. It was this warmth; she loved the sun. It was probably what made her like this, like her emotions came and went with the wind and the rain and the dirt and the moon. Now and then, it seemed somewhat ill-fitting in this environment.

"Well then... Shall we maybe look around?" she asked her comrades.

They didn't seem to fit each other either. Their hair; tangles and curls of blonde, black, or silver, long or short, slid through the cooling breeze. Their faces, heights, backgrounds, even the way they wore their uniforms, all denoted a ragged band of strangers more than a tight knit group of soldiers. No, communication wasn't there strong suit, it seemed, and as far as being on the same level as each other, they had a long way to go.

She slid her right shoulder out of her uniform overalls, switched her bow hand temporarily, and then slid her left shoulder out as well. The two straps fell to her hips; apparently, as over-sized as the overalls seemed, the slack picked up at the waist, tight enough to keep it there.

It was the hamlet that interested Annie the most.
