A day had passed since the strange encounter with other Catalysts, a cruel reminder that there are others out there, that they are dangerous being. And not all are nice...

James and Eve was travelling through the overcrowded streets of The Crown once more. James carried a large, long bag while Eve walked with a slight skip in her step, something close to the scene from yesterday. There was one major difference though, the two were not relaxed. In fact, they were on a job. Well, more like finishing a job.

The two turned and headed through a small alleyway situated between two buildings, the alleyway turned several times and twisted around until reaching an old, abandoned building. It was small, falling apart and placed in the dead center of several more modern buildings, hidden from the real world and left to fall apart. Something that made the two mercenaries feel at ease, comforted; this could go into some more deep psychological shit so it's best to keep going.

Before the two entered the building, James pulled out their respective masks and applied them. Inside, a slightly overweight man stood, swaying side to side with anxiety as he bit on the nail of his thumb. The man was wearing a full on office suit, with a suitcase held in the free hand.
"Got the money?" James spoke out, his voice echoed through the building as he came into vision of the man, wearing his usual attire and mask.
"Ah, Whisper! I do!" The man replied, his voice shaken as he held the suitcase up in Whisper's direction. Only for it to be grabbed by the masked Eve, she spun around the room as if it was some kind of dance as she looked through the suitcase.
"Yes, that's all of it." Eve confirmed as she suddenly appeared next to James, the suitcase held in one hand.
"Right, it was a pleasure working for you. We had fun. Especially with the knowledge that you hired us to take someone out just so you can climb up the ladder of business. A very dirty move." James spoke, it would seem that he's trying to make a conversation, but at the same time trying to end the conversation.
The man giggled a little, feeling a bit awkward due to James' accurate words.
"This is not a laughing matter." James quickly spoke louder than usual, quickly pausing the man's giggles and grabbing his attention. Only for the man to see one last inhuman thing before his body was thrown across the room. The limbs and head were cut off with perfect slices, with the cuts forming a circle shape if you were to join the lines.

The two left, taking the money with them, ready for another job.

Vanessa happened to be watching James and Eve as they left the building. Vanessa remembered that she had that meeting with Lucille, but it won't be until a few hours later. She was also expecting a reply from the Chaos Insurgency. But right now, she was to try and get some hired guns for her. These two were the perfect fit, businesslike, unpredictable, but precise, she needed those attributes.

She briefly concentrates, then turns her hair to an auburn shade. She happened to be wearing red and black today and brought sunglasses with her. She takes a sheet of paper, wrote a message into it, and folds it into an airplane, she then has a few strands of her hair detach from her scalp and tie themselves onto the plane. She devised this device to carry the message to the duo, with the psychically controlled strands of hair able to manipulate its flight path so that it persistently followed them.

The message itself was to say that Vanessa would become a regular client for them, but it also had a test, it would challenge the two to find one of her associates, or as the message didn't say, Vanessa herself, and notify the associate that they wish to work for her. The message was signed under another name, Artemis.

Vanessa then readies the message and throws it, with the paper airplane being guided by the hair.

As the two mercenaries walked on, both raising their arms to remove the mask, there was a reaction. James quickly stopped in his tracks, lowering his arms as a signal for Eve to do the same. Keeping the masks on their heads. James quickly turned to look behind him, staring off into the distance, looking...

"What is it?" Eve questioned, also attempting to see what James is trying to,
"Unnatural noise." James answered as he quickly moved his arms to catch the paper airplane perfectly, leaving no signs of damage on the paper. James unfolded the airplane carefully, trying not to damage anything, only to speak one thing; "Eve, what's the source?"

Eve looked around, her face making a confused expression under the mask. "I don't know..."
"Don't fuck with me now,"
"No, seriously." She pointed upwards, "The velocity, trajectory, weight, air resistance, gravity, wind speed and direction don't add up. This is not a natural flying plane. It's been controlled."
"Another catalyst?"
"It could be, or perhaps some special trained paper plane thrower." Eve giggled,
"Right." James sighed as he took a few steps forward, listening carefully to the surroundings; "Eve, simulate, quietly."

"Oi, what are you doing, Artemis?" James called out, directing his voice around the area, "We don't take a job without gaining a preliminary payment. And you didn't really explain our job either. It's easier to just come out and talk to us, or else we'll just find you."

Vanessa hears James's remark and simply comes into view, "Impatient, aren't we?" She asks, "So you're interested in my jobs, eh?

Vanessa then takes a small purse from a hiding spot and pulls out 500 dollars in unmarked 10 dollar bills, "This is simply a preliminary payment, I've got more rewards in store," she then holds it out, as if expecting one of them to take it with speed, "And it's more like a series of jobs, I've got goals to attain, goals that I cannot reach on my own."

She then looks to Eve, "Tell me," she begins, "Is blue hair a trend these days?"

James quickly moved his glance towards Artemis, keeping silent as he quickly judged her appearance, taking everything into consideration while also depending on Eve's observation to point out anything of danger;

"We don't deal with any shit that drags on to long, thanks." James stated, placing his hands back into his pockets as he turned his body to face the new contractor, "We take any job in which we can perform."

His glance was quickly pulled by the appearance of a small purse, the contractor had already revealed 500 dollars and held it out, expecting the money to be taken. "I'm pretty sure we're worth more than 500 dollars, it takes a lot to prepare for these jobs you know." James explained, pacing a few steps closer to Artemis as he did so, ignoring the statement of the jobs. There's no point listening to jobs that can't be paid or performed.

As the small conversation took place, Eve managed to work out several scenarios, unable to reach a true conclusion due to the new character's mystery. There was no weapons to be seen, no means of hostility or defense, this girl may be a true contractor, or the police got better.

"I've been born with this hair." Eve replied, her face smiling underneath the already smiling mask, "I'm not sure if there's a trend though," She giggled, her head tilted to the side as she placed her hands behind her back.

"There's plenty at stake," Vanessa added, pulling out an additional 500 dollars, "Dreams to be made, nightmares to create, realities to be broken. That's why I'm asking for your regular employment, what I have planned can't be done in one single job. It's like a surgeon working a scalpel, he must be precise, delicate, cut enough to see what is going on, but not enough to be considered, 'invasive.' That's what these jobs require, and you two have the precision I need. I was once a hunter myself, but those days are gone, but my plans aren't over."

They could both see that she was observing them as well, "Please excuse me, I seem to be rambling on. There's one job I want you to perform, somewhere here in the Crown, there's a minor research lab, at the top levels, there's a guard that begins patrol at 10:50 p.m., I want you to dispose of just that guard at exactly 11:20 p.m. Does that sound like a good offer?"

~Craven~

Even with the aid of the blood filming his eyes over and blotting out most of the light, the beam was so intense he could only look at it with a strong wince in his eyes. He could feel the sensation of his flesh wanting to boil in the intense light, though thankfully it was not direct sunlight and therefor just an irritation.

Those thoughts were short as a shot sounded from the side hatch of the helicopter, followed by a distinct pinch of pain somewhere on his own body. Though with the amount of mass he had produced to take this form, he knew that he had been hit. Several more shots rang out and thanks to the light, not even a muzzle flash could be seen beyond its halo. Now he was definitely sure that he was being hit and where, several rounds riddled across the back of his beast like form and the pain was now different. He did not know what they were using, but it burned and seared at his flesh. Tearing its way through his body and broiling where the round stopped, causing his body to frantically shift the invading piece outside of itself.

He looked at hunter, who had taken too his feet, despite the eight inch bone jutting from his shoulder. His body forming a thick sheet of bone in order to stop the rounds from penetrating, as he looked on. "Always something.. always another time." He realizes that his time is growing short, his body was shifting mass to grow the armor and right now its right side was beginning to wilt. Turning itself to ash as he could feel the life leaving it, never to return and grow again.

Craven grits his teeth and pools the last of his strength as he can feel life leaving most of his body. Grudgingly, he pulls a large section of his large arm back, chucking blocks of concrete towards the helicopter. Finding little purchase, but causing the pilot to pull away for several moments. He eyes locked on Hunter as the left arm dug into his body and gripped around himself and tearing the two bodies apart. With no words, he tore himself from his new shell and chucked his upper half from the roof. The larger sections quickly dissolving, burning away into ash as he cleared the edge. Laughing as he careened through the air and over the skyline lite night.

He fell for what seem like a full minute, knowing the building was high. Though he sadly underestimated its range and could only place a cringe on his face in anticipation of the impact, which turned out to be wetter then he initially thought.

Never did he expect to land in the fountain of a dinner club, though the water was only three feet deep and he found himself splitting the stone lining the bottom. As his mangled form floated up from the bottom and he could see a small crowd of faces gathered around, a waiter looked on and leaned in. The addled face of a wasted youth on him as he spouted some of the dumbest words ever heard in such a situation. "Dude.. Are you alright?" Craven floated there with just his torso and one arm and maybe even just a majority portion of his head, including the lack of depth perception. Which meant that either an eye was torn out, or burst in reaction too the impact. Despite that, he just looked back at the young man and spoke "Donner.. party of one." His arm burst from the waters surface, fingers snapping into place and wrapping around the mans throat "I'll have the carnivore special." He proceeds to draw the man in as his face warps open, becoming a gaping maw. The onlookers both, scream and run for their lives as his head burst like a ripe melon.

They ran as the commotion in the fountain sloshed and sprayed water in all directions, only for the action to slowly die and the sound of Craven's body settling to rise over the noise. Rising from the waters as they settle, Craven was looking refreshed, wiping the water from his face and head. He wore the pants of the waiter, though how he got them on while eating the waiter alive was a question better left unasked and despite the water, they were heavily stained red around the waist.

He looks up and notices the he fell through a veranda on the way down, still able to see the now, circling helicopter as it searched for him on the rooftop.

Barefooted he scrambled from the fountain and only stopping to yank a coat from the suspended wrack. Tearing through the reception door and out into the street, speeding down an adjacent alleyway.

Dreams, nightmares, realities. Those words were very interesting words, especially in the context they were used. These kind of things is what Whisper wanted in the long run. The reason why they kill even their clients if things were of evil intent. The world has enough corruption in it as is, people being unable to deal with their own problems of evil don't deserve to exist.

"It depends on your plans, we refuse to join any organisation." James replied, he took more steps closer to Artemis, carefully grasping the money held out towards the two as the job was explained more. "This is just a preliminary payment, once the job is complete, we want the rest."

"But why an exact time?" Eve questioned, staring straight into Artemis' eyes as she did so. "I slightly understand the reason of taking this guy out, but I don't understand why we need an exact time to act."

"The reason is simple, obvious once you think about it," Vanessa explains, "I've studied this facility, I know how it functions, all the way down to an individual's heartbeat. The guard I mentioned makes his return to the lower levels at 11:43, then at 11:50, he is to be relieved. Your opportunity arises at 11:18, when he stops to scratch, he probably has hives. As for the organization, you will remain unaffiliated, you're working for me, not them. As for your reward, expect the money by midnight. Now... For Emperia City?"

James stood on the spot, holding the money in one hand with the other still in his pocket. This pocketed hand quickly raised up and pointed towards Artemis, the fingers moved into a gun shape, "Bang..." Was the only word James spoke, leaving the surrounding area silent for a moment, nothing happened.
"...This is how easy it would be to take you out. You should be more defensive, cautious. Or not, I don't care."

Eve stayed quiet as she watched the conversation from a few steps back, "This girl is observant," She thought, "With the ability to find exact times, this kind of observation can be considered superior. But then again, it depends."

"This girl, she has something to hide..."

"And how and why should I expect for you to simply gun me down here?" Vanessa asked, clearly unfazed, in fact, it actually looked like she expected a comment like that, "You don't have a reason to kill me, and I made especially sure not to be followed," she begins to turn to leave, "If you'd please excuse me, I've got other appointments to attend to."

With that said, she begins to walk away.

The two watched in silence as Artemis walked away from them, waiting until she had gone from view. This quickly allowed Eve to turn to James and speak; "We took the money, so we're gonna have to do it now..."

"Yeah, let's get the job done anyway. I'm curious. Tell me everything you saw in that girl, later." James replied, seeming slightly irritated. "I don't need a reason to kill..."

With that, the two wondered off. Back to their home where they would prepare for the strange job they had been assigned. Ready to get the job done in the specified times.

The two masked mercenaries stood on the top of yet another large building, overlooking their target area described as a small research facility, seemingly out of place when surrounded by many larger buildings. With the large glare of the late morning sun, major features of this facility could be easily defined.

James stood, looking around the area with his hands placed in his pockets while Eve was crouched down holding binoculars to the eye slits of the mask, looking over the whole facility and taking all details into consideration.
"Well?" James questioned as he soon grew bored of this reconnaissance work, it never was his kind of thing. After all, patience was never a trait of James.
"I have to say that Artemis did take in every detail. The area I see which has a high chance of our target appearing is an easy to access area." Eve replied as she lowered he binoculars in order to look towards James, "There's a single security camera looking over that area, but with the cover of darkness, we can easily carry this through."

"You've already got a plan?" James asked, his interest finally being grabbed,
"It's a vague plan, I need to observe our targets nature first. But if Artemis was right, then our chance would be to strike when he stops to scratch." Eve explained, "However, this isn't something I can do. My sword's too bulky for the job and will easily give us away."
James nodded,
"You, on the other hand, is best suited for this. Just a simple heart-stopping sonic pulse will do, and with an alleyway situated nearby which holds a large garbage bin, it's easy to get rid of the evidence. For this plan to work, we need to use our preliminary payment to grab a dark cloak. Not just to wear, but to wrap the body in."

"Alright, I understand. We should go and prepare for this then. I'm guessing you'll be hiding somewhere to strike in case something unexpected happens?"
"It's not unexpected if I've figured it out. There're currently five scenarios that have the highest probability of taking place which needs my intervention. Don't worry, they'll quickly be sorted through with a single one chosen once the opportunity arises."
James turned around to head off after Eve's explanation, signalling for his partner to quickly stand, wipe off any dirt from her dress and follow him.
With his arm around Eve's body, James made his sonic jump, giving off a massive low pitch sound as he threw himself and Eve across buildings.
