Description

Image
Full Name: Vethariel Ras'Tandir
Nickname: Veth
Gender: Male
Age: 1084
Role: Elder 2 - Male

Physical Description: Veth is short for his race, standing at only 5'5", however his anything but unimposing. His skin is pale with an almost gold tint, and highlighted by piercing, icy white eyes. His black hair falls haphazardly from his scalp to just below his jaw. His lips are perpetually curved slightly upwards, as if he's always smirking.

He typically dresses formally and comfortably, in black, accented with dark crimson, dull amber or gold. Veth can not stand to wear extra embellishments or accessories, and prefers to just stick to plain, if fine, outfits.

Personality:
When Vethariel was younger, he was the type of person who couldn't even harm a fly, let alone a person. He cursed the violent nature of his power, and used it only for restorative purposes. After becoming an elder, he slowly became more and more obsessed with ensuring the safety and security of his people, eventually to the point of tyranny. Although he is not actively malevolent, he has switched to caring more for society as a whole than for an individuals rights. About a century ago, his younger sister developed a fatal blood disease that he had not seen before and could not cure. He began to delve heavily into research about curing her, and that eventually led to trying to stop death itself. He has become nearly single minded in his pursuit of these goals.

Strengths:
Vethariel's primary strength is his gift. He relies on it so heavily that without it, he would have to seriously re-evaluate his strategies. Although Veth is not the strongest man by far, he makes up for it in speed and agility. With his power, he can boost blood flow and control adrenaline to enhance his natural abilities even further. As a side effect of constantly having a high-performance cardiovascular system, Veth is extremely healthy and has an unnatural vitality. Finally, being over a thousand years old and having an affinity for knowledge and study, Veth is one of the most intelligent people on the planet, rivaled in academia by only his fellow elder and a few of the more accomplished university professors around the world.
Weaknesses:
Although reliance on his gift is a weakness, it is in no way his biggest. That title belongs to his sister, who he would do anything to protect. Following that is his personal pride, and his overzealous pursuit of whatever sinister goal he has. His secrecy might also be a weakness, as it sows distrust in his peers.

Gift: Vethariel has the rare and powerful gift of hemokinesis, the manipulation of blood. With ease, he can control any aspect of his own blood, from pressure to speed of bloodflow, to clotting speed. He can also effortlessly control blood that has been removed from a body, or animal blood within a body. With effort, he can manipulate the blood in other living bodies, enabling him to both heal and harm others. He can cause blood to clot quickly or not at all, rupture blood vessels to cause mild to massive hemorrhaging, clot blood in the veins, cause oxygenated blood to release oxygen within the body igniting blood’s electrolytes and effectively burning a person from the inside out(although this takes a large toll on his stamina, and requires concentration. Usually reserved for torture). With great concentration, he can manipulate a persons movements to a crude, limited extent by manipulating the blood in their veins. The stronger willed the target, or the more targets he attempts to control, the more taxing and more difficult the ability is.

Love Interest: None; Elders are not allowed to take a spouse or lover.

Family: Father - Lethan Ras'Tandir - Deceased
Mother - Anural Ras'Tandir - Deceased
Sister - Kinnah Ras'Tandir - Alive - Age: 488

History: Born to rather young parents, it's no surprise that Vethariel's sister is so much younger than him. They died a relatively short time after her birth, and he raised her until she could live on her own. He loves her more than life itself, and would do anything to protect her. After becoming one of the three elders, Vethariel became obsessed with the notion that he could use his power to prevent even death itself, namely, the impending death of his sister because of an incurable blood disease. He has since mostly withdrawn from society, focusing almost solely on finding a way to stop people from dying. He cares little for the cruelties that Daeri inflicts on their people, knowing that he can undo whatever she does when his research is complete.

Anything Else: Nothing at this time

So begins...

Daeri el Ma'Taerwen

Daeri el Ma'Taerwen had been one of the Elders for over a century and a half and, still, had never seen such a thing occur. Right before her cold silver eyes was the sight of a tall limp form being swept away on a floater, one of many different types of hovercraft that coursed around the city of Khalati. But it wasn't just any random form, it was a body. The body of the oldest Elder to have ever survived lay underneath a thin white sheet that billowed gently in the breeze, slowly but steadily being taken down the hall and away to never be seen again. The old Elder was a kind old gentleman, one whose kindness was well-known throughout the city.. Or had been until today.

Until Daeri had joined him for dinner to discuss future plans for the city and he had suddenly stiffened before dropping to the floor, dead.

And now, his family members were following the corpse as a sign of respect while weeping into their hands. Their cries seeming to echo and grow louder in Daeri's head as she crossed her arms and slowly stepped from the scene, her bare feet slapping against the cold floor as she blatantly ignored the odd glances that were sent her way.

It was all a part of her plan, of course, and that seemed to be coming along together quite nicely.

---

"Vethariel," the raven haired Elder spoke up softly, her sharp eyes finding the black-clad male rather easily despite the numerous piles of books surrounding him. "Seiteiran is dead," she stated, knowing how frustrated the other remaining Elder would become if she didn't get directly to the point.

Daeri's gaze shifted, turning around the room to take in the vast bookshelves that took up the walls and the books that filled them. Vethariel, she had known for some time, had an obsession with blood due to a rare blood disease his sister had that was most likely to take her life. Although, Daeri hadn't quite realized the extent of her fellow Elder's fixation until now.

In fact, she'd never entered this room before until today.

Shaking this thought from her mind, Daeri's expression became one of indifference and she continued speaking, not really caring whether or not the male was listening. "There will be no Elder to take his place, no induction ceremony, with his death. There is none over the age who are fit to take his place, I've looked into it already.."

She paused as her silvery eyes scanned the gold-skinned male's expression, searching for any sign of displeasure at her statement. "Time continues to press on despite this sorrowful time, as must we. After all, La and Le demand we do so." Daeri spoke formally, her tone low even as her eyes darkened slightly due to her absolute seriousness. "Now," she added, "I believe we have arrangements to configure, do we not?."
