Background: Rodolphe Hasenkamp was born to an unknown woman in Würzburg, Germany. Obviously unwanted, he was left in the care of an orphanage while still an infant. As a child, Dolphe found it difficult to make lasting friendships and thus, developed a sense of disdain for his peers. When his metahuman powers emerged during puberty, the caretakers of the orphanage immediately handed him over to the authorities.
Dolphe spent the next several years in a high security facility where he was subjected to various experiments in an effort to study metahumans and their incredible abilities. Due to the nature of his powers, however, the young man always found a way to escape his holding cells. He began to look at the situation like a sort of game, figuring out how he could outsmart the idiot scientists and guards. When he turned 18, however, his antics were no longer viewed as those of a rebellious teenager but of a dangerous adult. Dolphe soon earned himself an impressive criminal record and was eventually apprehended and imprisoned in a facility that rendered his powers useless. It was there that he became hardened; his already unstable personality slowly twisting into an arrogant madness. When his name was finally called for The Cleansing, the smile on Dolphe's face sent chills down the prison guards' spines.
