Introduction

You wake on the bummy edges of new york, just after struggling your way out of your coccoon. In your hands is something of a program, intorducing to you, a newborn cytid, on places to go. You look to see there are three choices to choose from.

The Tsavinsky team, lead by Rolov Tsavinsky. They are a pro-peace group, working towards the cure of the CNV virus and returning Cytids to humans. The adress is on the bottom, along with Tsavinsky territories.

Leows kings theatre-The Tsavinsky HQ.
Brooklyn bridge-A place used for deals and compromise with outside gangs.
Coney Island-Friendly to the Tsavinsky cytids, boardwalk walks or just chilling.
Green wood cemetary-A place for the more isolated Cytids, newborns typically go here to clear their minds.

McIntosh, a pro-violence gang looking for dominance over the human race. Lead by Jhonny McIntosh, it appears they're more focused on violence, sex and drugs. The wild life, if you will. On the bottom is also their location.

Mott haven-A group of buildings and rundown shacks where the McIntosh gang calls home.
The rambling house-A cytid friendly pub.
Bronx zoo-Mostly where cytids go in the summer to laze around.
Van Cordtland park-A place of true, but a nice park to relax at.

And then there was The slums, a small gang of "outsider" Cytids who lived in the back alleyways of NYC. Their territories were as follows.

Old forges paper factory-Main HQ of the group, humans and Cytids alike.
The twin shacks-Barracks for the group.
Holden storage and facilities-A group of buoldings dedicated to holding drug trade items.
Downwash bar-Cytid friendly underground bar, illegal drug seller and prostitution.

It was up to you, which to go to. Up to you to pick.[/b]

Information on Cytids:
Females range from 6' to 7'5 or so, males are from 6'5 to nearly 8 feet. Skin is always a shade of gray, though can be tinted with any color.
Pupil shape:
Slit- Night perception increase, hunting abilities are good.
Cross- Paritially blind, but intellect is excellent.
Normal-Regular eye status, though agility is improved.

Huey Dick shifted impatiently, laying down on top of an old shack on the outskirts of new york. He'd been assigned "newbie-duty", as it was called by Jhonny. Or in simple terms, recruitment. Personally, Huey didn't mind recruiting new Cytids, but on days where there were none, he wanted to bash his face in repeatedly.

Typically, there was quite a few, but winter usually slowed up the birth of Cytids. Muttering gingerly, he sat up again, using a pair of binoculars to peer down the street, hoping for some movement. Some new recruits to haze.

Dave tossed a pebble between his hands, sitting on the much too small lawn chair at the top of the theatre. He was on the lookout, for fellow Cytids. Recruitment was a rough deal, especially when so many got sucked into McIntoshs gang. Beside him was Ethan, shivering in the chilly wind. He hugged himself and looked up at Dave, eyes glistening.

"Why do we have to be so inconveniant...You would think Mr. Rolov would pick a better spot." He said in his soft voice. Dave merely grunted his reply, returning his attention to the streets.

Ariella put the "program" down and tried to get her bearings. Her green eyes scanned the darkness for movement or threats and in seeing no immediate danger she crawled silently deeper into the shadows, into the protection of the night. After the shock of her sudden awakening wore off and the knowldege that she was naked and freezing she remembered the paper that was in her hand. She reached for it and in the sliver of light saw her gray hands. Looking at her body she saw that it finally had happened to her; she was a cytid.

Being that Ariella is the type of woman to keep her wits about her, waking up naked and finding out that she was now a cytid wasn't the worst part of the evening. The worst part was not remembering what happened after getting home and before coming out from that cocoon. She is a preparer and thankfully so because she had enough foresight to know that the virus would get her eventually. Which meant she wasn't naked too long. She remembered how to get to her place and even that she had clothing for this new body of hers, but the immediate past she could not recall. She laced up her last boot and sighed aloud. Ever since the virus was released her life had completely changed. Survival was the most important thing and still was as far as she was concerned. She pushed her chin length black hair behind her ear and remembered the "program" she had when she woke up. She studied it now.

"Decisions, decisions."

She knew the type of person that she was and that didn't change just because she might not technically be a person anymore. She had no clue what was waiting out there, but she never was the sit around and wait type and necessity always overruled fear. With the decision made and under cover of night she put the paper into the back of her jeans, made sure she had her bowie knife and headed into the street. With a final glance in each direction she buttoned up her jacket, flipped up her collar and turned left at the intersection. It was a long distance to the theater, but she knew she could take care of herself...

It was a much longer walk to the Loews theater than Ariella remembered and the weather definitely warranted more than the black military jacket she had buttoned up around herself. A few feet from the corner of the building she was walking past, she paused and leaned her back against it to catch her breath. If she kept walking and took a left, the theater was just a few hundred yards down and across the street. The wind was howling through every allley. She felt disoriented and lost. Feeling that way also made her angry, but she was determined to keep moving.

"Keep it together," she told herself. "There has to be someone out here that can help you."

On the way over here she passed by a cemetary. There were other Cytids there she could see, but they were moping around and being pitiful. As far as she could tell they could not help her; they couldn't help themselves. At any sign of others she hid and did her best not to draw attention to herself. Now she was frazzled and out of breath, afraid of what would happen when she came out from behind that building. "Necessity overrules fear," she thought.

As she steadied herself to emerge from her cover she heard something from her right. She quickly turned her head to see who was coming. Her slit green eyes scanned the darkness for whatever was coming for her. Whoever it was was not trying to be quiet about coming after her and she began to panic. Blinded by fear she raced towards the street trying to get to the theater before she was attacked. She could sense someone getting closer to her, but trying to run with her new body was like trying to dance in clothes and shoes that were too big for you. She could see the theater, but began to trip in the street. She knew her attacker was coming for her and on the way to the pavement she pulled her bowie knife out from the small of her back and pivoted hard to land on her ass and face her attacker.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me," she exhaled at the dog staring her in the face. The dog she was about to filet alive. Her chest heaving from her attempt to catch her breath she lowered her chin to her chest. The dog sniffed at her and simply scurried away to find someone else to scare out of their minds she was sure. Ariella sat in the middle of the street with her knife in hand wanting to laugh at herself, but she didn't know who could be watching. With her blood pressure and heart rate back to normal she replaced her bowie knife back to its sheath and got her wet ass off the ground.

"Just fantastic Ari", she mumbled to herself, "very smooth." She rearranged her jacket and made sure her hair wasn't all over her head as she turned to face the theater. Standing in the middle of the street she focused on sound or movement, but didn't pick up anything. She knew that someone had to have seen her almost murder that dog. Steadying herself she walked directly in the center of the road towards the theater. When she got within a reasonable distance she got a better look. There didn't appear to be anyone around, but she knew better than to judge a book by its cover.

"Hello?" she exclaimed into the night. "Is there anyone there?"

Ethan popped his head over the edge of the theatres rooftop walls, searching for the voice he'd just picked up.

"Dave! A girl, down there!" He shook his companion, who grumbled and lumbered over to the edge to see for himself. They examined her for what seemed like a while, and finally Dave spoke up. "State your name. And you swear you are here and oppose the McIntosh group, and violence unless necessary."

He droned on, going over a pretty large list of rules. Most were just peace and less violence. He was interrupted though, when the theatre doors swung open and Rolov himself came out to observe the new Cytid.

Rolov regarded her with contempt, his face reading no emotion. "Hmh. By the looks of it, they stuffed one of those programs in your hand, didn't they? Da? Come inside, tell us about you." He nodded, turning and walking back in.

She was standing in the street without emotion on her face, but she was confused and wary. The man that walked out and spoke to her was direct and to the point. He had an accent, but she couldn't quite place it. Russian, maybe? He told her to come inside and even though it didn't feel like a setup Ariella had no idea what was going on or who to trust. She was also extremely curious about the welcome from the rooftop that sounded about as enthusiastic as the safety demonstration on an airplane. That made the two she saw on the roof plus Captain Grumpy here, whomever he was. Sighing she followed Captain Grumpy inside.

"Better in here than out there," she mumbled. She had no idea what she was getting herself into, but curiousity was always getting the better of her. Once inside she took a quick look around and braced herself for whatever was going to happen next.

"My name is Ariella, by the way," she called out to the back of the man steadily walking away from her. "D'ya mind telling me what's going on here?" she asked planting her feet and shoving her hands into her pockets.

Rolov kept walking, his hands folded behind his back. "We're here to help find the cure for the CNV, of course. Our scientish, Ziel Weislich, works hard every day to ensure it." He said it as though it'd been rehearsed, or he was bored. Ethan and Dave came down from the roof, climbing down the ramps. Ethan was the first to come running down to greet the newcomer.

"Hello!" He stopped in front of her, cheerful, "I'm Ethan!"

Rolov halted, peering back at them. Dave took position beside him, gruff and angry looking. He didn't like how niave and cheerful Ethan was, given their situation. Surely the newborn Cytid wasn't partial to it either.

"Ethan, perhaps you should go find Vincent and start dinner." Rolov said, making the little Cytid droop a bit. "Yes sir. Okay sir." He nodded at Ariella and hurried off. Rolov returned his attention to Ariella, watching her again. "There, the ladder at the end of the room. Go up to the attic to Mr. Weislichs room so he may do a medical examination, da? Then you may join us for dinner."

She nodded in response to Captain Grumpy's order. There was no mistaking the statement as anything but an order. Ariella was not used to being told what to do, but she was in foreign territory now and she also knew that you had to pick your battles. With the way the big guy was looking at her she was so not picking this one to fight. She didn't like being stared at and subconsiously tucked the hair that covered the right side of her face behind her ear.

"So Captain Grumpy is obviously the one in charge," Ariella thought. "That makes the Captain, Ethan, Doc. Z the scientist, Vincent the cook possibly, and the guy built like a tank boring holes in my head with the pissed off look on his face," she calculated. "He'll just be Tank until further notice," she surmised laughing to herself. Ethan was young and a bit cheerful, all things considered, but at least he brought a bit of levity into the room and she was sad to see him leave. From the looks of these two, smiles were hard to come by in this place. Captain Grumpy looked at her with as much interest as a lion would a television; minimal at best.

"So these were the bunch that were going to find a cure for the CNV?" she thought to herself as she slowly made her way toward the ladder at the end of the room. As she reached the ladder curiousty got the best of her. She told herself she was turning to thank them for helping her, but a small part of her also turned back to see if Tank was still there watching her, but she was alone. She undid the buttons at the neck of her military jacket and down the front and put one hand on a ladder rung. "Thanks," she exhaled to an empty room and began the climb. She didn't even realize that she had been holding her breath.

Ziel Weislich was perched at the desk in his room, humming the tune to Standchen softly to himself. He was a kind looking man, gentle and quiet.
"Ah...I wonder if..." Sliding a glass over, he took a sample of the liquid inside and dropped it on a sandflea in a cage. It did nothing, as expected, and Mr. Weislich marked it off his chart.

"I wonder how I can reverse this." He sighed, resting his face in his hands. Everything was his fault, how was he to make up for it now? So many lives were being ruined day by day, and he only had so long to live. How was he to give back to the lives he destroyed?

"Oh!" Ziel perked up when he heard someone ascending the latter, and quickly packed the sandflea away, clearing the desk. He adjusted his glasses and stood up straight, hands folded behind his back, awaiting the arrival.

As Ariella reached the top of the ladder, she quickly scanned the room which was almost equal parts living space as it was laboratory. There was all manner of scientifc instrument and book about the room in what appeared to be some sort of order that she was sure only the doctor understood. She slowly dusted off her hands and directed her gaze towards the relatively short man staring at her. He was shorter than she was with glasses that were too big for his face. His blonde hair was graying and combed back, but she could tell that he had the kind of hair that constantly had to be told what to do. He stood straight as an arrow with his hands behind his back by a desk attempting to put on a good front, but there was something swimming behind his eyes that turned him from a cartoon character into someone riddled with pain, or possibly even guilt. They stood there looking at each other in silence for a beat or two, but considering she wasn't one to waste time she stopped fidgeting with her clothes and abruptly began to ramble.

"Umm.... hello," she began calmly. "My name is Ariella Sims and I'm new here, but you probably already knew that," she ran her fingers though her hair and threw her other hand on her hip. "Let's give you the short version of this crazy story. I'm 28 and a few hours ago I pulled myself out of what must have been a cocoon and now I look like this," she gestured to her body letting her arms fall to her sides. "Some sort of pamphlet was in my hand and I chose to come here in hopes of finding some help or at least some answers. I'm alone and Captain Grumpy down there...er... umm," she stammered, "or whatever you call the one running this place told me to come in and then basically ordered me to come up here to get checked out."

She thought about everything she just said in her head a moment to make sure that she wasn't leaving anything important out. "Yeah," she paused, "that pretty much brings us up to this point so Doc Z, would you mind telling me what I'm supposed to do because I feel like I'm rambling and you are looking at me like a lab rat?" She stuck her hands in the back pockets of her jeans and anxiously waited for the man to speak.

Kudos

I know that it is still rather early in the RP, but I just wanted to say that I really dig this open world you have created. I think I'm going to work on another character for the opposing gang. I think that it is amazing that you are taking on so many roles here. I hope that I don't babble on too much here, but I really enjoy this sort of scifi genre and I love writing. Thanks for accepting me....Oh and thanks for accepting Ariella :)
