Other aspects of your appearance: has an aura around him created by his natural appearance that is able to charm people near him in a light subconscious level.

Doesn’t trust any one but himself, has little patience to inferiors unless needed. He doesn’t respect other people's opinions internally. Has difficulty accepting defeat.

People get the impression that they are drawing Elim to them when in fact the opposite is true, every action a person takes can be at times controlled by Elim; his charm doesn’t operate as well on intelligent people but even in their case Elim can at times catch them unprepared. On the professional Elim views every person as a specimen and catalogs him accordingly; Elim's world is a constant drafting and planning of the use of different people from peasants to kings. He views people in his line of work as assets and those outside it as threats, his only friends are normally his colleges it is rare that Elim will allow himself to get attached to any one he deems an asset in his line of work. Elim likes to enjoy life one day at a time and is very active perusing his interests whenever he can. Duty always comes first to him however.
Elim loves his family back in his home country, he works hard as ambassador knowing that every action he takes will give them ether safety or ruin. Elim truly appreciates Avalon and all it has to offer but holds no delusions of a bright peaceful future; he knows war will come and acts accordingly.
On the hard to achieve personal level Elim is a silent shy man and doesn’t like to open up to people on the ambassador professional level Elim obeys all the laws of conduct and always speaks positively and warningly. He only takes offence and acts upon it when the laws of conduct back him and it is in his best interests otherwise he will simply ignore any attempt at offence, deeply he is enraged but nothing in his behavior would ever show it.

Religion: Elim embraces every element of Avalon culture while working as ambassador, deciding it would benefit his work he is closer to the strict church going faction and personally practices its religion in his life.

Loyalty: Elim is loyal to his home country above all, as ambassador he is officially loyal to the king but operates among all factions.

Relationship status: Elim knows every one and every thing there is to know about them, he try's to win people over and at times succeeds but he is aware that he can't truly fool the more intelligent people in court and instead try's to encourage an acceptable business relationship. As ambassador he has natural hostility towards him but over time he has managed to overcome it.

So begins...

Elim found the coronation to be a most charming occasion; he could not remember enjoying himself on such a level ever since leaving the fatherland.

The party was all you could expect from Avalon's finest and brightest, wine, women, song, and beer; too much beer most likely due to the insistence of the newly crowned King.

Since his arrival nearly a month ago Elim was far from secure in his position; plenty of warmongers back in the fatherland would love to make a diplomatic incident out of the coronation, they where wrong for both reasons for war and ways to wage it but they where right about one matter; this could be the best and only time to wage one.

Elim had not made any advances yet preferring to quietly sit on the side lines, it was too early for any action and Elim was enjoying himself; it would never do to combine business with pleasure. Elim was more then deserving of a day of enjoyment after working so hard to adjust in his new role after the "unfortunate" and "sudden" demise of his predecessor.

His earlier conversation with sir Tomas seemed to have made the wrong impression, the knight seemed suspicious of Elim and with good reason but even Elim who was so obsessive with his work had the occasional unprofessional day.

The sudden outburst of Prince Lelinus had surprised Elim and such was its raw power Elim did not bother to hide his amusement, he liked the prince, at least for what he represented and could spare him this small triumph.

The time was fast approaching for Elim to speak, first to all and then the king personally. Elim had no time to befriend the wine on this day; his senses had to be clear as his throat.

Elim knew he would have to wait for a clear moment, the untimely fallout between Lord Calabar and the mysterious Rivera Talimir had caused quite the reaction among many of the guests.

To Elim the matter was not particularly relevant and paid it no more then the passing interests. Lord Calabar was attached to the beer barrels on this particular day and Rivera Talimir clearly did not like him or most men as a rule. The young woman had much to learn if she wanted to get any were in this court, if she learned the lesson was entirely up to her.

It seemed only Elim noticed the curious exchange between sir Tomas and Lady Gwendolyn Degray. This was not particularly shocking to Elim, he had speculated about a relationship between the two for a few weeks now; the subtle longing and craving both had for each other was well hidden but after a while Elim had grown suspicious.

Elim was no longer speculating of their relationship, he did not know how far they had indulged themselves but he could make a very good guess. it didn't matter for the time being even if the knowledge had the potential of being a most potent poison in the hands of the absent duke Devalin, but for now the matter best left a closed and guarded secret; even outside Elim's annual report to the fatherland witch was no doubt being read by every Degray, Devalin, nobility and curious house maid in Avalon, Elim had even went as far as to make arrangements for an easily forged crest just to avoid a diplomatic incident over such a trivial and dull affair.

The party retuned to its roots and the passing interests most had to the passing occurrences had been all but forgotten in the wake of additional beverages served to the thirsty masses.

This was finally the right time to speak, filling his long empty glass with his favorite of eastern wines Elim walked towards the king and bowed.

"My lord king James Nicholas Degray I bid you blessings and salutations from the king and people of your proud neighbor Luxor and my own personal admiration and congratulations.

Turning to speak to the crowed but remaining in face view of the king Elim spoke with growing excitement; excitement designed to spread into the hearts of the masses.

"Yes a proud neighbor, you ask why all of Luxor is proud on this day? We are proud to see the prosperity and joy of our neighbor Avalon so apparent on this day after the tragic loss of your deeply loved king Edward.

We are Proud to see an equally strong man take his rightful place on the throne to insure this continued prosperity."

Pausing and looking around the crowed giving the impression of personal eye contact Elim spoke with a soft yet sharp voice.

"Above all Luxor is proud today to witness this glorious coronation in peace and friendship.

This was not always so my friends; was it not only a few generations ago that the word Avalon was despised in Luxor as much as the name of Luxor was hated in Avalon? A hundred years ago this day would have been a dream, yes a dream amounting on the scale of heaven itself.

Let us not forget the sadness and the darkness of those days long passed yet… so near, even on such a happy day.

I join my heart with you on this day, today we are all bound together in more then passing acquaintance; we are witnessing history itself unfolding before our very eyes, in years passed our children and grandchildren shall ask what did we see on this day?

Let me take you to that distant future for a fleeting but worthwhile moment, we will say to those children that are yet to be born we saw a young prince become a great king, we saw an age end before our very eyes! And a new one as glorious as this coronation begin.

We will say to them above all: we saw the day when one and all raised their toasts to one man and one man alone from this day and for many years to come"

Elim raised his glass and allowed a tear to escape his eyes; one held back to this very moment one tear of the one truthful word Elim spoke in the entire speech, Pride.

Using the full glory of his voice and sending it echoing to all corners of the hall.

"Long Live Avalon, Long live king James!"

"Yes to your health indeed!" A rather sharp if not charming voice bellow out from the very end of the grand throne room and Celebration Hall. A few of the toasting guests were left to pause as their brows turn to the vividly dressed individual at the entrance way. He stood in rather exceptional coronation colors himself, strangely appearing more of a king in his clothes and jewels but remained not so by the lack of a crown on his wavy rosy blonde head. Along his bejeweled fingers was not one, but to very beautiful maidens scandalously dressed in very revealing outfits for Royal Court, leading on his gem encrusted slippers step.

A few laughed, other grinned, some whispers, a rare one or two prayed and a large majority rolled their eyes, Lord Westbrook had finally arrived fashionably late.

Emanuel somewhat offered a rather bright smirk across his face, admiring the mirrors that made up the hall's decor as he strode down very gracefully leading his two 'guests' along in tow. Both were the daughters of Lord Duncan, Earl of Fleemings; a man of impeccable temperament and two very beautiful and very rebellious daughters. Emanuel display them much like his outfit to flaunt and enjoy and possibly break in later, he could not decide which one he had liked better so he simply decided to take them as a set. Besides, with the amount of scandals and mistresses that littered court every man in this room would be a polygamist in his book.

His eyes flickered across the crowd of people, moving through the row that had parted to honor the ambassador though taking full advantage. Katherine Devalin was among the crowd the flowery and wealthy socialite could not help but grin. Certainly she was possibly one of the kingdoms most dangerous factors dressed in red brugondy and gold embroilment, but she was also interesting, very interesting.

"Lady Devalin." He spoke out to her a friendly face around a crowd of high noses, suspicious glances and seedy whispers. His hands departed the fingers of the two milky ladies for a moment as he offered a gentleman's kiss of her hand before speaking again "A fine rose like yourself deserves to on display in a glass case. Not being forced in the sidelines like a wall flower by the..." he spoke for a moment as his eyes met the few around him "Critics." He answered without another motion he returned to his two ladies continuing along with some greetings as he got closer to King with each pace.

His eyes flickered over to the adorable couple of Lelinus DeGrey and Rivera. Or were they friends? Juicy gossip was so rare at court today but he was certain he would spice something up by the end of the evening... He paused for a moment and slightly cringe. Sea Blue was very much out of style, but he had to confess... Jamie's brother had amazing legs.

Regardless of thought and flight, the regally dressed gentleman did arrive at the Royal Chairs nonchalantly taking a glass from one of the servitors that graced the entire celebration as he offered a very coy smile to a very good friend. He did pause and returned his glance to the foreign man before him. Normally he absolutely disdained ambassadors, short hairy men who seemed too much like stooges, lackeys and boot lickers with utterly awful accents. But something about this man, he liked, he seemed absolutely charming.

"Mr. Ambassador if I may?" He requested as he gestured to the King with a vivid grin across his face before returning to Jamie and toasting the glass to him before giving him a look.

"Now come Jamie! Whats this I hear about you becoming King!?" he slightly jest as he somewhat shook his head playfully "And your toasting without me!? Honestly Jamie! Honestly! Sometimes you make me think that you keep me around just to tell you what will be in and out of high fashion this month!" He coyly played as his introduction.

Elim had stayed in the hall for some time before leaving to the embassy, the king was quite the host and had insisted that Elim drink more ale then Elim was used too. He was quite drunk by the time the coronation had officially come to an end. stumbling his way to the embassy Elim was saved by his subordinates who aided his journey up the stares and into his room. Elim's sleep was dreamless but his hangover struck swiftly once he woke up for the new day; Elim knew the king would not open court on this day but Elim happened to know about the advisory council to the king, if they were to have a meeting it was Elim's duty to attend. Once Elim had regained his scenes he took the liberty to examine his journal, he still had to visit Duke Dealvin..... Devalin; the name was hard for Elim to pronounce but he had to get used to it. He could not however leave the court now, if he did even the king may become suspicious ;Elim could not afford to have himself be seen in such light... not yet anyway. Elim also had to meet a few lesser but quite significant lords, nobles and other equally influential people. most of them were still in the capital and the rest were skulking around Duke Devalin no doubt. Elim cleaned himself enjoying the luxury of Avalon's fine baths and after a few preparations such as eating snack meal and leaving a few instructions for his subordinates Elim left for the throne room.

Elim was quite enjoying his journey to the castle, Avalon was a truly divine country and Elim was quite taken by it's beauty. Even the court which was full of rats and snakes was so much more civilized and interesting then the brutal, barbaric and stupid court back home in check only because of the military; even with all its faults the army was the last bastion of Luxor that was free from the madness, taint and decay that had gripped the kingdom over the passing of so many years.

Elim was truly depressed with the knowledge that he would see in his life time in the not so distant future a century of peace die like a butterfly; appearing to be at its prime but int truth nearing its end. What should Elim do? work towards making Avalon weak as his country expected thus guaranteeing war, a war in which uncountable thousands shall perish and the greatest culture in the world burn in the fires of imperialism? or see his own homeland bleed in another stalemate war? Elim considered briefly the possibility of keeping Avalon strong but was that even possible under the rule of the new king and his many rivals? With proper advice from the best minds including Elim's this could be achieved and so long the king used at least some of his scenes their would always be a chance.

Entering the great hall Elim's spirits where raised high by its sheer glorious manner, he was again admiring the master craft statues, the nearly divine banners and carpets and the many other decorations which gave the hall such a heavenly glow. Elim's day dreaming was soon broken by the approach of a great many men at arms; guards no doubt.

In there midst Elim could recognize the prince, his guard and princess Rivera. their manner was heavy as if they were led like goats to the slaughter, only Elim's keen senses could ever notice the strange and alarming development but the expressions of the two and the behavior of the soldiers could tell less capable creatures all they needed to know.

behaving quite normally and carrying himself as gracefully as possible in this situation Elim approached the party acting as if he was oblivious to all the warnings and obvious nastiness that was marching rank by rank with the party.

Bowing and smiling to the prince Elim spoke with his calm, reassuring and even seemingly admiring tone.

"Greetings to your Majesty prince Lelinus and to your most noble companion Sir Rivera, I trust you are in good spirits on this first day of a new golden age.
Unless entirely by chance i see you are accompanied by quite the collection of fine guards of both your own and the king's service, I can only assume you are making your way to the throne room. May I accompany you? i do seem to be having the most strange impression that something quite unsporting and possibly unnerving is a foot, please excuse my arrogance of the latest news; i have only recently risen from a most heavy sleep from last nights "adventures"."

still facing the prince Elim spoke to the kings guard captain with a more commanding tone, there was no need to give a man of such class any illusions of his status but keeping his civil charming touch could not hurt.

"My dear Captain, is such a large contingent of your fine troops really needed to guard the dearly loved Prince and his lady friend? we are in the middle of the palace and with so many other first rate guards patrolling the castle who would dare to lift a finger against the prince, Sir Rivera or indeed anyone?"

Elim was trying to keep track of what was said in the throne room when one of his subordinates rushed towards him, whispered to his ear the usual code word "lady of white who's tears glide on the wind of change" and gave him a letter.
Elim was quite angry, how dare he breach protocol in such an obvious manner? Stepping towards the side of the throne room to avoid being seen Elim opened the letter and read its contents, the writing was naturally in code in fact one of the hardest to decipher ; this was an important message.
The letter had in its contents a particularly stunning red flower, this was a flower that only grew in his estates and was the secret crest of his family; this letter was from his son.

"Greetings to the ambassador" – it was clear that Elim's son Luxan was addressing Elim as the ambassador and not as his father in this letter, he must have heard something.

"The words of the past are said at the turn of nine souls, each word is a dagger to the fabric of the flowers of spring untold.
The snake hungers for pray and is lead by the tale its head is dragged on the dirt but unable to dance for it is frail.
Green of the land and its keeper make their way on the blessing of life made sour by the hand of god.
Two hands grip unable to hold the dog lets slip and marches to the fold, time rules all and the stars never fall"

This was a hard code, but one Elim remembered quite well as it was one he and his son practiced for years.
For a few moments Elim was deep in thought until he recalled the exact meaning.
"Words of the past are said at the turn of nine souls…. "It was more then a century since a cat entered the estate house because of the harm they caused to some members of the family. The words of the past century were now spoken again, words of war were killing the peace treaty and those who supported it.
"The snake hungers for pray and is lead by the tale…." the snake was the nobility and it was their egos and greed that hungered today, the tale were the generals those men who give flexibility and maneuverability to the snake. The army is using the nobility's vices to lead it to war and conquest. The king was powerless to act and was forced to go along with the plans of the nobility and army, his position weaker then ever and was too sick to put the nobility in its place.
"Green of the land and its keeper make their way on the blessing of life…." Ships made of the forests and the lord with the greatest amount of forests in his lands sail on the waters of the sea; the blessing of life made sour by salt in its creation. So Lord Dukar Atruska was leading the fleet, strange he was an honorable man and firmly against war with Avalon. The situation was dire indeed if he was accepting the possibility of war.
The last sentence was stating the reason for the war preparations, the apparent weakness of Avalon made known to Luxor by the many spies on its shores. There was still time until the decision to invade was made and the possibility of peace was not to be discarded yet.
Elim finished reading the letter and placed it in his pocket; he bowed to the king and said using his more professional tone.

"Your Majesty may I attend the council meeting? I hear words are said about Luxor, maybe I could offer some professional insight?"

Elim had missed most of the words said but could not help but hear of the new owner of ghosts pass.
It seemed that Elim had a busy day ahead of him.

Elim knew it was not professional but the trial had touched him deeply, he remembered all to well the trial and execution of his uncle fifteen years ago and he disliked to be reminded of it in such a way.
Elim bowed to the king sadly but said what he had to and what was right for him to say.

"My lord, I feel that this is a matter that should remain within your family and that outsiders such as myself have no right to take part in it but I shall remain at your command." Elim wanted to say more but the king was too busy, in fact Elim could barley keep up with the young man but by the time they had reached the throne room Elim had gotten over his earlier emotional reaction to the trial.

This entire situation had no good choices; whatever choice the king made could spark a war and ether war was one that Luxor could use to its advantage.
If the king set sir Talimir free the duke could claim the king was weak and use it to his advantage in the nearing civil war however if the king actually killed Sir Talimir his own brother would become unreliable and possibly even traitorous and The duke would use such a rift between them to take ghosts pass without suffering grave losses thus effectively cutting the kingdom in two.

Elim could see the seeds of war growing, he would soon have to make a gamble and the gamble on peace was becoming an increasingly unlucky choice.
Elim didn't want the war; he simply wanted to prevent Avalon from gaining superiority over Luxor but it seemed he no longer had much of a choice.
Elim stood with the other ambassadors as the verdict was read out; it was death and Elim was not surprised to hear it. Talimir hadn't even bothered to defend herself so the king was left with no choice but to condemn her, in a way she had signed her own death warrant and only she was to blame for that.
Elim didn't think she had truly betrayed the king and was convinced that it was her own sister that had forged the evidence but he would not say so to the king and Elim never trusted his intuition alone and preferred to work with facts.

Elim approached the king and did not bother to hide his concern.
"Your majesty I offer you my deepest sympathies for the sad affairs of this day, I have information from my homeland which I would like to share with you in private. I do not ask this of you lightly, I assure you that this news is of grave importance to both Avalon and Luxor and the events of this day leave us little time. "

Elim sat down and gladly accepted the wine, Elim inspected the vintage and nodded in approval sipping a few drops and then pausing to inspect the king.

The young man seemed far older then he had been in the coronation; both his manners and his stance where no longer boyish or irresponsible and conveyed an impression of seriousness to the observer. The king's eyes echoed the confusion and frustration the affairs of the day had forced upon him, however Elim saw a slight hint of confidence in those eyes; a flicker of newly found confidence which with time had the unmistakable potential to grow into a power of will.

Elim saw this happen before and would have shuddered if not in the presence of the king; if this young man found the confidence he so desperately needed nations would tremble and gods would weep. Elim almost preferred the misguided ideals of republic then to see strong kings rise to the throne of any nation but he took comfort in the knowledge that this young king still had a great deal to learn and many trials ahead of him before he became one of those men Elim and all nobility dreaded and feared even more then the radical liberal ideals spreading among the peasantry.

Elim nodded in approval again enjoying the fabulous wine, he would have to handle his words carefully; the king lacked experience knowledge and a great deal of common sense but he was no fool or at least less of a fool then Luxor's current rulers.

"Your majesty I think it is imperative we make our positions clear and believe me as ambassador of Luxor it is a difficult choice for me to take."

Elim sipped another drop of the wine clearing his throat and continued to speak with a clearly displeased tone of voice.

"An Ambassador should never make his position clear about anything; it is one of the fundamental rules of our trade but today is not by any counts a normal day."

"Your current situation is quite clearly an undesirable one; I think you shall agree with me when I say that Avalon isn't as united as it should be. The nobility think of how to exploit the death of your father and how to forge you into a symbolic figurehead behind whom they can justify all their petty schemas and corruptions. Your lords look for rule not only in you but also in Duke Devalin. Loyalty to the crown is second place to survival and these lords wonder to whom they should pledge allegiance and slowly make their choices by the actions you take today and the next few days. The people now serve you but in the realties of war to whom would the then owe allegiance to? Not to duty, not to honor but to whomever asks them for less and gives them more."

Elim knew he angered the king but it was his intention to do so, he did not leave a space from which the king could strike back and continued talking.

"The kingdom is facing a trial you are facing a trial and your every action and every word shall carry weight not only in Avalon but all around the earth and maybe even to the gates of heaven itself.
Luxor faced this moment; our king came to the throne years ago at the time of your father but you would be unwise to believe this makes Luxor a nation with stability; the truth is quite different."

"We did not have a king like your father we have a king who may have been a great king had he not been subject to continued lack of health. Why is such a weak king still on the throne you may ask, the answer is because the nobility want him on the throne and I would not be at all surprised if they have a hand in his illness.

As you know I am bound by oath to serve my king but it is difficult to serve a king who can no longer rule his own country. It is no coincidence that Luxor has stagnated in the face of Avalon's growing cultural and technological supremacy; we may sell a good image to the world but in truth our nation is not as great as we would like to pretend it is. A year ago the presents revolted and formed a republican army which quite nearly succeeded in usurping the throne. The revolt was crushed as was a revolt 15 years ago was crushed but each time the numbers grow, the liberal ideals reach new complexity and nobility itself is subverted by the liberal ideals. The nobles have a free hand in all matters and are taxing the people in a rate they can no longer pay and we have no king to stop it. The nobles make war on each other freely and hardly any one even bothers to attend the king's court in person these days.

I have just been informed that the king is again gravely ill and it seems that he shall not live for more then a month at best and what little authority the royal family had is no longer significant. I have also been informed of certain interests in the current struggle in Avalon from very powerful lords of Luxor. I am of the opinion that men and resources are making their way into the Devalin armies as we speak and that very soon fleets of Luxorian warships shall sail together with the Devalin fleet."

"I can no longer speak for my nation and promise peace because there is no longer any central authority other then an alliance of self interest of the strongest nobles in court. I do not make a threat; I am giving you a warning that unless the duke is taken care of soon the Devalin's will have a force capable of defeating you. If you loss ghosts pass the war shall be lost to you before it starts; you need a victory if you are to survive on the throne and win the confidence of your subjects."

Elim drained his cup, amazed at the conviction in which he spoke his words.

"Let me give you a few more words of advice; trust no one not your family, not your friends and not even your love. trust no one "

Elim was angry that day as he stood in his study looking at the map of Avalon. He had lost his best opportunity to cause a rift between the king and his brother and doubted if he would ever gain another opportunity such as this. He had failed to grasp the momentum fearing that hasty actions at such an early date may doom his entire operation and now he paid the price, now his beloved Luxor paid the price!

Elim could not handle failure, especially not his own. He could have made the invasion of Avalon a matter of days instead of weeks or months had he acted. By eliminating Rivera in an execution and then pushing the two brothers to open hostility by adding just a few more deaths and maybe a forged letter or two he could have started a civil war in Avalon to which the Duke would naturally react. Avalon would have been in flames in a matter of days and no one could stop the mighty Luxorian fleet then!

Elim nearly kicked a vas however he stopped himself; even in rage he would not destroy such a fine example of Avalon's divine craftsmanship.
Elim found peace in thought, he stood facing the map and let ideas find each other and bind together to form his calculating persona.

There where other plans he could utilize, other actions he could take. The circle; the most powerful organization of Luxor's greatest nobles wanted preparations for the invasion finished within two weeks or a month at most however if the true intentions of the fleet where exposed Luxor would invade immediately never mind the cost.

Bah! That was what happened when a bunch of self serving nobles ruled a nation. What did they know of war apart from putting down the peasant revolts?

Elim decided his most important task was to guarantee the Duke and the King would be at war before the invasion began. Both already had reports of the Luxorian fleet due to the incompetence of the pathetic nobles so it was too late to keep anything secret. The only option was to convince each side that Luxor was siding with his enemy unless the Duke could be persuaded to cooperate.

Elim could not leave the kings court, such an action would be suspicious even damming; he would have to use his agents for this mission.

Elim left his room and left the embassy, the king's court had a great library in which everything ever written in Avalon and many other things from other places where displayed and open to the public (the higher class public)

As Elim entered he made a show of looking and admiring the books which is some ways he was; Luxor had no such library and he was truly impressed by the library however he had other intentions in mind. After a few minutes Elim entered the section of ancestral worship and still marinating a show of randomness picked up a book and read it for a while. The book was called "the origins of ancestral worship" and was truly an interesting book which Elim had come to read quite often however as he returned the book to its place Elim carefully bent page 197.

Then Elim left after asking a librarian if his order had arrived and receiving a negative reply.
Elim concealed his satisfaction; each day was a different book, each week was a different subject; this was his connection to the world of shadows and his agents would know what to look for. Only Elim and his agents knew the meaning behind it and only one agent knew Elim and that agent did not know he was even an agent; the man was the librarian, due to Elims status the librarian had to fill in document requesting information on the ordered book.
This document was then sent to the printers however if there was one place in which Luxor had claimed as its property it was the printers here in the capital. There where other methods to communicate with these Luxorian agents however this was the best way of doing so.
In a matter of hours these agents would receive information that their master had a new task for them with the arrival of the document which requested certain rare books. They would then arrive at the library bringing the said book and examine the book which was the current code book for the day for the marked page and a second marked page always the last. The mark was the action that was to be taken and the page was the number of the order.

Elim had ordered for his agents to begin the attacks on Ghosts pass; and most importantly implicating the Duke in these actions.
